MGM has nearly finalized a deal with Reese Witherspoon to reprise her role as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde 3. They're also bringing back Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah (writers) and Marc Platt (producer). Witherspoon will also produce under her Hello Sunshine banner.
There's no plot to share yet, but the film will keep the spirit of the original, "in which Woods’ idealism and pink-dominant wardrobe prevailed over the cynicism and snootiness all around her."
- Talks about Manchester bombing: "It's hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss. But, yeah, it's a real thing.”
- “I know those families and my fans, and everyone there experienced a tremendous amount of it as well. Time is the biggest thing. I feel like I shouldn't even be talking about my own experience – like I shouldn't even say anything. I don't think I'll ever know how to talk about it and not cry.”
- Previewed album for Vogue UK
- Talks about anxiety: "My anxiety has anxiety… I've always had anxiety. I've never really spoken about it because I thought everyone had it, but when I got home from tour it was the most severe I think it's ever been."

Why does Hollywood continue to perpetuate the Bury Your Gays trope, despite persistent backlash from the gay community? After Ellen has a few thoughts.
Problem 1: “Special Snowflake” syndrome
Shows believe that the death of their character is uniquely nuanced and crucial to storytelling in a way that other lesbian deaths are not. They recognize that other shows have contributed to a negative pattern, but see themselves as the exception to the rule.
For example, during the 2016 ATX Television Festival’s “Bury Your Tropes” panel, Faking It producer and screenwriter Carter Covington defended Lexa's controversial death on The 100 because it was not "people getting killed off because they’re gay." In reality, the death reinforced both the Bury Your Gays trope and others (e.g., killing a woman immediately post-sex).
Problem 2: Hollywood underestimates how much it happens
Krista Vernoff, a writer for Grey's Anatomy, said that 20 years ago gay characters were "killed in scene one," so at least they're lasting longer now. Gay (and particularly lesbian) characters are still at disproportionately high risk of death, though. According to a study analyzing the 2015-2016 season of US TV:
- female - 43% of characters, 44% of deaths
- non-white - 33% of characters, 26% of deaths
- gay men - 2% of characters, 3% of deaths (1.5x higher than representation)
- gay women - 2% of characters, 10% of deaths (5x higher than representation)
Problem 3: Hollywood is misreading the Lexa Pledge
The Lexa Pledge includes the line, "We refuse to kill a queer character solely to further the plot of a straight one." Many creators (including all of the "Bury Your Tropes" panelists) refused to sign it because they believed it would prevent them from ever killing a gay character and thus limit their creativity. Instead of seeing the pledge as a commitment to writing robust, meaningful arcs for all characters, the promise to give gay characters their due is perceived as a hinderance.
Problem 4: They remain uneducated about broader lesbian issues
Many creatives, including the aforementioned Covington of Faking It, complain about backlash from "the very community [they are] trying to help," putting the blame on fans for not being a "glass half-full fandom" instead of taking responsibility for the stories they choose to tell. For example, Faking It has a strange obsession with straight male characters—even making an ostensibly lesbian character admit to an uncontrollable sexual response to men.
They also claim that fans' abrasiveness makes showrunners wary of including gay characters at all, opting for the relative safety of no representation versus the pitfalls of bad representation.
Les Moonves, the CEO of CBS, and Shari Redstone, the President of National Amusements Inc and the vice-chairman of CBS and Viacom, have been battling over the future of CBS for months and the situation is getting messier.
The CBS board voted 11-3 to dilute Redstone's voting power from 80% to 20%. The no votes were Redstone, one of her attorneys, and one of her aging father's advisors. The day before the vote, Redstone amended the bylaws to say that a vote would like that would require a 90% supermajority of the board's 14 voters to pass.
CBS filed a lawsuit against National Amusements Inc earlier this month, Redstone filed a suit against Les Moonves and several members of the board and most recently, the Westmoreland County Employees Retirement System filed a class action lawsuit against Redstone and National Amusements Inc.
Redstone's court filings include the description of a situation where Charles Gifford, a member of the CBS board, allegedly grabbed Redstone's face during a meeting and directed her to listen to him after she proposed he be replaced on the board.
Gifford told her that was how he treats his daughters when he wants their attention. Redstone clarified to him that "she was not Mr. Gifford's daughter but instead the vice chair of CBS."

The evil has not been defeated...yet. Roseanne is feeling the aftermath of her
Gibson was recorded in a 2010 racist rant and got fired by his agents and was a pariah for years, but had a comeback with "Hacksaw Ridge."
ABC may or may not be terrified that Roseanne will release secret emails of their support for her even though they fired her. “Execs are still talking to her to get her permission to do the spinoff,” added the source. “She is the creator so they have to work with her.”
“She is still planning to go after everyone and release emails,” continued the source.
To prevent that from happening, they are trying to say it will all blow over.
Roseanne was seen in Utah for the first time since the controversy, saying she "loves all people".

Forget Summer of Love '67, summers of early 2000's r&b was an era, a sound, and a look within itself. It was all jerseys, large rimless sunglasses, sheer #lipgloss, baggy clothes and bandanas galore. And everything sounded like Pharrell, Jermaine Dupri, Ja Rule and queen Ashanti.
This list is a little spin-off to Rap Songs Saved by Female Hooks with a couple of songs carried over. I wanted this list to have music videos with at least a beach setting, and I couldn't help but repeating a few artists. I know we're a few weeks away from the beginning of summer, but the heat is already here.
Here are 15 rap and r&b songs to request at ya summer parties and barbecues.

Not to be confused with actor Sterling K. Brown. A new video of six officers stepping on Brown's ankles have surfaced and what seems to be an attempted coverup after realizing he is an NBA and there will be a media firestorm in videos obtained by WISN-TV. Brown was arrested in January after parking across two disability spaces outside a Walgreens. Brown was pinned down to the ground while an officer is seen stepping on his ankles while another officer tasers him. At one point Brown asks the officers why they stepping on him, the officers responded so that Brown doesn't kick them. Brown then replies he has no reason to kick them. It seems to dawn on the officers that he is indeed the NBA Milwaukee Bucks player.

Brown was not charged in the incident but plans to file a lawsuit.

Godless is a women-led western that focuses on a group of widows who lost their husbands in a mine collapse and must protect their homes. The 7-episode limited series is available on Netflix. Scott Frank originally wrote it in 2004 as a movie, but could not get it made.
Frank says every actor who was on a horse had to take part in a miniature "cowboy camp." Jack O'Connell spent ~2 months working with horses pre-shoot and Jeff Daniels was on horseback as often as possible; he also kept a horse by his trailer and rode barefoot.
Frank also rode a horse a lot himself, including to go quickly between the camera and the action, which was sometimes far away. In those moments he repeated the mantra, "Don't fall off in front of the actors, don't fall off in front of the actors."

Popular Twitch streamer IcePoseidon, known for being a racist who uses the N-word, and a group of his 'Alt-Right' friends were ordering dinner at a Denny's in Los Angeles when he made a disgusting joke that offended a black family in the restaurant. After a tense confrontation with someone from the family, they were promptly kicked out by a manager, but not before two of his friends proceeded to follow the family and antagonize them as they were leaving. Below is a breakdown of the situation:
- At the beginning of the video, Ice Poseidon started building the tension by saying to one of his friends, "But he's black and you're a white supremacist", while wearing a 'Make America Great Again' hat.
- Not long after, one of his friends who goes by Asian Andy made an offensive joke where he stated they should go around caroling during Christmas and just randomly singing, "KFC, watermelon, and grape", while he was looking at the family behind him.
- Upon hearing the joke, the family decided to get up and leave the restaurant. One of them decided to voice his disgust for the joke and an intense confrontation ensued. During which the white girl from the group played the victim and said verbatim: "I'm scared. You're scaring me."
- One of the managers came to inform the group that they were being ousted from the restaurant. From there, two people from Ice's group decided to follow the family and antagonize them even though they voiced they should leave them alone.

Allen, 82, told Argentinian news program Periodismo Para Todos on Monday:
"This is something that has been thoroughly looked at 25 years ago by all the authorities and everybody came to the conclusion that it was untrue. And that was the end, and I’ve gone on with my life. For it to come back now, it’s a terrible thing to accuse a person of. I’m a man with a family and my own children. So of course it’s upsetting."
"I think in any situation where anyone is accused of something unjustly, this is a sad thing. I think everybody would agree with that. "Everyone wants justice to be done. If there is something like the #MeToo movement now, you root for them, you want them to bring to justice these terrible harassers, these people who do all these terrible things. And I think that’s a good thing."
"What bothers me is that I get linked with them. People who have been accused by 20 women, 50 women, 100 women of abuse and abuse and abuse — and I, who was only accused by one woman in a child custody case which was looked at and proven to be untrue, I get lumped in with these people.”
