Kendrick Lamar invites white fan on stage, she raps the n-word 3x

At Hangout Fest in Alabama last night, Kendrick Lamar invited a white fan on stage to rap 'M.A.A.D. City' with him. The first lyrics of the song include the n-word, and the guest took it upon herself to sing it with gusto.  When Lamar stopped the track to review the rules, she responded: "Am I not cool enough for you? What's up, bro? Wassup?"

ETA for those who can't watch the video: Delaney also acts surprised she said it ("Oh, did I do it? I'm so sorry!") and then admits she usually sings it that way ("I'm used to singing it like you wrote it").

He gives her another chance, but her flow is off and it ends prematurely a second time.

Kelly Clarkson Opens Billboard Music Awards with Tearful Plea + Slays Everyone with Vocals

The host of the Billboard Music Awards went against what was asked of her from show producers, and instead of a "moment of silence" she called for a "moment of action" in response to gun violence. The tearful moment was by far the most talked about moment of the night.

Before the show even officially started, queen Kelly reminded everyone who the true GOAT vocalist is, sounding better in her opening skit / montage than most of the performers that followed. She sings the hits for 2017/2018, and sounds better than the originals (except for Humble).

Future of Pop Rina Sawayama Replies to Statements About Her

Rina Sawayama, British upcoming and independent legend and the future of pop whose debut album Rina is out now, talks to Vevo UK about online mistakes, 'pixels', not needing to pursue a career you got a degree in, and being the future of pop music.

In need for filler description of a video for this post, I too agree that you do not have to pursue your career in your degree and to do what you #love. At the same time reality hits and the tea is life is not like Burger King and you cannot always have it your way™.

Cynthia Nixon Misses Clinton Endorsement As She Supports Andrew Cuomo Instead

– Hillary Clinton's spokesman confirmed to The New York Times that she will be endorsing Andrew Cuomo in the upcoming race for New York governor. Cuomo worked for Bill Clinton's administration during the 90's and has been governor for eight years, and also no one likes him.
– Some people are shocked (where? where are they?) that Clinton would support Cuomo over Nixon, while others cite that Cuomo's more centrist policies are closer to hers than Nixon's progressive ones, and that NY is her own turf, causing her to make a rare endorsement in time for midterms. Others speculate Bill has been even more invisible the last several months because of his comeuppance in the era of #MeToo.
– Cynthia Nixon recently received an endorsement from Bernie Sanders-inspired Our Revolution group, citing the Sanders campaign as one of her inspirations for entering the race for Governor. While this might signal a relitigation of 2016 again, it begs the larger question that caused it in the first place: whether or not the Democratic Party as a whole is going to grow and support candidates like Cynthia, or make them fight uphill every step of the way against ones like Cuomo. (so far it's been the latter)

First trailer for 'Mowgli' + interview with Andy Serkis

According to director Andy Serkis, Mowgli is an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book that retains more of the story's darkness. It follows Mowgli (Rohan Chand), a child raised in the jungle, as he is torn between his home and the human world.

The film also stars Christian Bale (Bagheera, panther), Cate Blanchett (Kaa, snake), Benedict Cumberbatch (Shere Khan, tiger), Naomie Harris (Nisha, the wolf who adopts baby Mowgli as one of her cubs), Eddie Marsan (Vihaan, Nisha’s mate), Peter Mullan (Akela, leader of the wolf pack), Andy Serkis (Baloo, bear), Jack Reynor (Wolf, Mowgli’s Brother), and Tom Hollander (Tabaqui, hyena).

It comes to theaters October 19, 2018.

In this interview, Serkis talks about:

  • What makes this adaptation darker than the cartoon version
  • Including elements of Indian culture in the film
  • What it’s like doing motion capture for non-bipedal animals
  • Balancing performance and effects
  • Working with Rohan Chand

15 June Releases to Add to Your Goodreads Shelves (ONTD Original)

Get those library holds ready! Here are 15 upcoming June book releases from a variety of genres. Hopefully at least one will pique your interest! All books were chosen from the Top 200 Most Popular Books for June 2018 on Goodreads. To help me narrow down to 15, I excluded any books from a series, unless it was the first book. I also focused on books that have a current high rating (I believe every book listed is rated over 3.5), and tried to avoid books that I've previously put in book posts. Almost all of the authors are women.

36199084The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
Expected publication: June 5th

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases--a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.

It doesn't help that Stella has Asperger's and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice--with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan--from foreplay to more-than-missionary position...

Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but to crave all the other things he's making her feel. Soon, their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic...

Thandie Newton Addresses Backlash From Calling Herself ‘Dark-Skinned’

About her role in new film Solo: A Star Wars Story, she called herself, “the first dark-skinned woman in a lead role in the Star Wars legacy. Even Lupita Nyong’o’s character was CGI."

Newton likely meant “dark-skinned” compared to the overwhelmingly-White world of Star Wars.
Brits are defending Thandie and saying that yes, overseas anyone who’s not white is considered “dark-skinned.”

However, sometimes they need help. That's where the makeup department comes in. Starbucks changes policy that will allow non-paying customers to use restrooms and sit in cafes

• Over the weekend, Starbucks announced a new all-are-welcome policy that allows anyone to occupy the coffee shop or use the store’s facilities, even if they don’t buy anything.

• The “Third Place Policy” maintains that employees should consider anyone who enters Starbucks space, including restrooms, cafes and patios, a customer “regardless of whether they make a purchase,” the company said in a statement.

• Customers using the space must still follow a set of general rules & guidelines, which requires them to use spaces as intended, be considerate of others, communicate with respect, and act responsibly, or they will be asked to leave. This means no sleeping or improperly using the restroom, being unreasonably loud, watching inappropriate material on a personal device, smoking, and using drugs or alcohol.

• This policy comes after the company faced intense scrutiny and backlash when two black men were arrested at a Starbucks in Philadelphia.

• The incident, which CEO Kevin Johnson has called “reprehensible,” took place last month in April and quickly made headlines after video of the arrest circulated online.

• One of the two men tried using the restroom when a Starbucks employee told him that the restroom was for paying customers only. When the two then sat and waited for a friend in the store without ordering anything, the manager called the police on them. No formal charges were filed.

• Restaurant consultant Aaron Allen says, “It is the type of thing that has the potential to disrupt the existing business.”
