-Basically after Armie's interview in THR, and talking about Casey Affleck compared to Nate Parker. Let's just say it's a mess truly.
-Casey Affleck (The audacity) spoke out on Hammer's response to Page Six and said in the article
"Affleck’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, told Page Six Monday, “Mr. Hammer’s comparison of Mr. Parker’s situation to Mr. Affleck’s is extremely ignorant and reckless, and as Mr. Hammer must know, his statements are false. Putting aside differences in the actors’ performances and the quality of the films, Mr. Parker was charged, by the State, with rape and criminal sexual assault. Mr. Affleck was sued by individuals in two civil cases relating to his film ‘I’m Still Here,’ which were settled to the mutual satisfaction of all parties. Mr. Hammer’s conflation of these two matters, as part of his Oscar campaign or otherwise, is extremely insensitive and highly irresponsible.”
-Eat shit Affleck, you still suck. Also he's presenting Best Actress like I can't...

Disney • Pixar's latest film, Coco, was released this past weekend to universal and critical acclaim and is already being referred to as a potential Oscar contender. The film, centered around the Mexican holiday Dia de Los Muertos, follows a 12-year-old Miguel who longs to be a musician and discovers along the way the story of his past relatives. The film touched and won over millions, but many of those same people were not impressed with the way Disney handled the films theatrical "short" film pairing. It's quite common for Pixar to include a short and compelling film before their main film and most of those shorts last no more than five to ten minutes. But it's a 21-minute Frozen "short" originally meant to air on ABC that's causing several people to say "no mames guey!" across theaters. Popcorn, Icees, and chanclas are figuratively being thrown. The outcry was so bad in Mexico, it was cut from several theaters there and other parts of Latin American. Some could argue that this particular pairing was a completely cultural tone-deaf move by Disney. It's unfortunate that such a great film that features a rich and diverse story and cast is getting praise only to be followed with a "but that Frozen short..." But once the initial shock and dust settles, the film itself will undoubtedly stand on its own merits and success without the inclusion of the words Frozen.

Don Burke hosted the very successful 'Burke's Backyard' for 17 years
Has been accused of years of sexual misconduct by several women who have worked with him. Burke 'constantly talked of sex', was 'crude and lewd'. Former staff member says: ""He was an absolute sexual predator. He was a bully. He was horrible to people in the office. He would often have women in tears. He used to take great delight in it. It was like sport to him."
David Leckie, former chief executive of the Nine Network, went on the record to confirm the claims: "I've been trying to think of Harvey Weinstein-type people [in Australia] and the only one I can ever come up with is Burke. He was a horrible, horrible man," he said. (OP Note: why not do anything about it then, asshole?)
Burke has denied the claims and comparisons to Harvey Weinstein: ""I loathe the reported behaviour of Mr Weinstein and hope that the legal system deals with him in such a way as to prevent this happening again. The bitter irony is that I have had a life-long opposition to sexism and misogyny. Burke's Backyard was a lone bastion of anti-misogyny since its inception in 1987."
I watched Burke's Backyard with my Mum every Friday for years. This is just sickening.

- Kiersey Clemons was supposed to debut as Iris West in Justice League, but her scene was cut at the end.
- The cameo managed to leak online shortly after the movie hit theaters, anyways.
- A visual effects artist who worked in the movie said on Reddit that they were going to replace Clemons with a digital woman in the scene because she had been brought on by Rick Famuyiwa, and after he left the Flash movie due to creative difference, the studio was free to recast her. That was around the time the cameo was cut from Justice League.
- Now that her scene leaked online, they may stop the recasting to stop fan backlash, allowing Clemons to retain the role of Iris West after all, but no one knows what's going to happen.

[The Verdict]The movie was full of nostalgic nods to the original series and answered several questions fans have been wondering about. However, the movie gets kind of ridiculous at times and the plot isn't great. There are moments that fans have been waiting for, but the execution of the plot surrounding these is not very "exciting." Its nostalgic payoff may be worth it to people who grew up with the series, though.

And while 2018 looks to finds us on nearly the opposite end of those feelings, there are still the movies that came out nearly ten years ago that we hold near and dear to us.
Or, that made a boatload of money.
Note: These are only the movies I've seen, and that's excluding the more boring ones.
An industrialist weapons maker gets held hostage, escapes, becomes a superhero, and strives to be a better person. What more can you ask for to start your empire but a redemption story? While Raimi's Spiderman films were well-received and the Fantastic Four would only get worse, this truly kicked the superhero craze into so high a gear, we're still not finished with at least four of them a year.
The one that started a long list of safe, enjoyable, and above all, profitable superhero films. To this day, it leaves people scrambling to think up their own Cinematic Universes to varying degrees of success. RIP Dark Universe. And this was before Disney bought Marvel Entertainment for 4$Billion dollars.
Arguably there are sixteen sequels; But for the ones involving the Man himself, there's Iron Man 2 and 3, Avengers 1, 2, and the upcoming Infinity War, and Captain America: Civil War. Just ... roll with it.

“Wisdom of the Crowd” didn’t have great ratings, with only 7.4 million people watching per episode. The Guardian view on Taylor Swift: an envoy for Trump’s values? https://t.co/TYwsBpBMKv— The Guardian (@guardian) November 25, 2017
Most celebrities have shown their disdain for Trump's presidency the past year, one star has yet to h4monize her thoughts, Taylor Swift. The Guardian makes the case why she is an envoy for Trump's values.
Comparisons the Guardian makes:
-Adept use of social media to radicalize their base
-Laser focus on their bottom line $$
-Support from the alt-right
-Swift’s songs echo 45's obsession with petty score-settling celebrity feuds. Her message is Trumpian: Everyone is out to get me – but I win anyway.
Although Swift appears to be apolitical, her start in country music, a genre whose fans are mostly Republican, shows she is not. She also once wrote on her Myspace that "Republicans do it better."
So what is the truth?

- Dictionary.com has announced its word of the year, and it is 'complicit'
- Complicit became a minor phenomenon when Saturday Night Live lampooned it in a perfume commercial spoof of Scarlett Johansson as Ivanka Trump: “She’s beautiful, she’s powerful, she’s complicit.” Adding to its popularity was when Ivanka Trump infamously stated to Gayle King that she did not know what it meant to be complicit.
- The word's usage increased in events this year, such as the rise of the opioid epidemic and how it came to pass, along with the spread of sexual harassment and assault allegations against an ever-growing list of powerful men, including film mogul Harvey Weinstein.

It's been decided.— Justin McElroy (@j_mcelroy) November 27, 2017
Canada's Most Memorable (English) TV Thing of all time is Mr. Dressup: https://t.co/0L430LjKXL
A few weeks ago, CBC reporter Justin McElroy started an informal bracket tournament on his blog to determine what was Canada's most memorable tv show. He started with 64 shows that went through these sets of qualifications:
- Ended its original run by 2012
- Couldn't have been specific to one province
- Primarily made in Canada
- Primarily Canadian audience
- Primarily Canadian creators/cast
There were four brackets for Comedy, Drama, Children's and Miscellaneous.
The tournament started to gain attention on twitter and some people went to weird lengths to try and get their show to the next round like creating bots. FB pages of these old shows would spur their fans on, actors from some of the nominated shows would like tweets to boost visibility, and people making YouTube videos or podcast pleas to soapbox for their show of choice.
In the end, it came down to Kids in the Hall vs Mr. Dressup, and the declared winner was a show about a man from Lewiston, Maine (who later became a Canadian citizen) who played dressup with items from his "tickle trunk" and talked to an androgynous puppet and mute dog.
