ABC cancels Kyra Sedgwick's "Ten Days in the Valley"

In television lingo, being moved to Saturday = cancelled.
Ten Days in the Valley stars Kyra Sedgwick as Jane Sadler, an overworked television producer and single mother in the middle of a separation whose life is turned upside down when her young daughter goes missing in the middle of the night. Just like her controversial police TV show, everything is a mystery, everyone has a secret and no one can be trusted.
The show will return with it's remaining episodes starting Dec 16th.

The View interviews Jenna Hager Bush & Barbara Bush

Today the panel interviews the Bush sisters as they promote their new book 'Sisters First'. The sisters know what their father whispered to Obama last week that made him laugh during Clinton's speech but won't say what it is. They also talk about when the former president put the poncho on at 45's inauguration (no talk of him supposedly remarking 'that was some weird shit' after 45's speech though). They briefly speak of how George W. has been extremely quiet and out of the public eye after leaving office and how people like Joy and others say they miss him. The sisters also dish a few embarrassing stories about each other.

Other topics:
-talking about Metastatic Breast Cancer
-a survey conducted among British Christians about getting rid of certain Commandments (meghan's face on this video still)
-the Weinstein and Tobak sexual assualt cases being the turning point for combating sexual assault and sexual harassment (i'm glad we are having this conversation tbh. it's time).

Robert Rodriguez says he cast Rose McGowan in Grindhouse as an F.U. to Weinstein

  • Rodriguez says he first met Rose at the Cannes premiere of Sin City where she said she would have loved to audition for the film but she was blacklisted by Weinstein

  • She revealed that she had been assaulted by Harvey Weinstein and felt unable to come forward because an attorney had told her because she had done nude scenes the case would be hard to prosecute

  • Rodriguez told her he made his films with Bob Weinstein not Harvey and he would welcome casting her in his future projects

  • At the same party he saw Harvey Weinstein and "introduced" him to Rose and from his flustered reaction believed what Rose said was true

  • Created Rose's role in Grindhouse specifically for her and hoped that the project would reboot Rose's career and that it would be an f.u. to Harvey to have to pay for it

  • Was surprised that Harvey buried the film anyway

  • Says that for years he struggled with his decision to "stick up" for Rose since it cost him his marriage/family (OP note: uhhh, the decision to cheat is on you dude)

  • Thinks that he/others should have done more and wants to see NDAs in the cases of sexual assault/violence abolished

  • Further OP note: Rose McGowan has yet to comment on Robert Rodriguez's op-ed but it's interesting that the rumours about Rose being raped by Weinstein arose in 2016 when Rose tweeted: Because my ex sold our movie to my rapist for distribution #WhyWomenDontReport which made it sound as though she was absolutely not on board with Weinstein being involved in the production/distribution of Grindhouse

Sarah Polley's Interview about her journey to adapt Margaret Atwood's Alias Grace

Synopsis: Based on the true story of Grace Marks, a housemaid and immigrant from Ireland who was imprisoned in 1843, perhaps wrongly, for the murder of her employer. Grace claims to have no memory of the murder. A decade after, Dr. Simon Jordan tries to help Grace recall her past.

In the interview Sarah Polley talks a bit about her youth and growing up in Toronto.
She was never really that ambitous about acting, so in directing she found a freedom that she had never had as an actress.
Alias Grace is directed by Mary Harron.
The cast includes Sarah Gadon, Edward Holcroft, Anna Paquin, Zachary Levi and Paul Gross. + David Cronenberg (in a small role).

The six-part mini-series on Netflix November 3.

James Toback exploded at harassment allegations mere days before LA Times story published

Rolling Stone contributor Hillel Aron talked to director James Toback about incidents where he sexually harassment women. This interview occured four days before the LA Times story was published, but is just now being shared.

In a recorded phone interview (at Toback's request), the director states that anyone making harassment allegations about him "is a lying cocksucker or cunt or both. Can I be any clearer than that? Anyone who says that, I just want to spit in his or her fucking face. [...] No one who's ever worked with me would ever say anything like that."

Aron gives Toback names of women and what Toback did to them. Toback claims he has no idea who these women even are, would never do things like that and finds the whole conversation idiotic, before telling the interviewer covering stories like this should be beneath him and that talking any more about it was a waste of time. Toback called back and asked Aron to talk to someone who worked with him before: "You will never hear anything but a good word. To ignore and to instead quote people whose names I don't know, it's not a good way to deal. It's beneath good journalistic standards."

What Aron did not mentioned during his talk was that his wife, public radio reporter Anna Scott, was one of the women he sexually harassed. Scott was a 18-year old senior in high school when she met Toback.

Gal Gadot talks BvS Wonder Woman backstory retcon

-In BvS Synder introduced us to a Wonder Woman who had shunned mankind for over 100 years due to them being so awful.

-In Wonder Woman, the movie ends with the character on a more hopeful note and one who hadn't shunned mankind.

-At the recent press conference in China for JL, Gal Gadot had this to say on the characters motivations
"None of us knew exactly, exactly, the back story of Wonder Woman. And once they decided to shoot the solo movie for Wonder Woman and we started to dig in to understand the core of this character, we realized that, actually, there is no way that Wonder Woman would ever give up on mankind.

The reason why she left the island was because she wanted to make their lives better and safer—they are her calling. So, I’m giving you a very honest answer, but it was—sometimes in a creative process, you establish something that is not necessarily the right decision, but then you can always correct it and change it. So Wonder Woman will always be there, as far as she’s concerned, for mankind."

-The WW sequel is rumored to take place during the Cold War.

Niall Horan and Nick Jonas Aren't Too Keen on Halloween

Nick Jonas on Halloween: “It’s a bunch of adults dressing up, which is kind of a funny thing when you really think about it. I now spend a lot of my time wearing costumes for movies and TV shows and stuff. So I think it’s a defiant statement to not on that night in particular.”

Nail Horan on Halloween: “It’s more of a kids thing. I’ve gotten more into it recently. Actually, it was the end of our tour on Halloween one year, and we were in Tokyo. Halloween in Tokyo is a different story altogether. The Japanese like to dress up anyway, on a daily basis. So it’s like the set of a movie, like a horror movie when you’re walking around Tokyo. So after that I was like yeah, I like that."

ONTD Original™ - Halloween Edition: Need Something to Watch This Weekend? Try "The Exorcist"

Happy Halloween weekend ONTD!

Want something to watch over the weekend that will get you in the horror mood? Underwhelmed while scrolling through Netflix? Bored with the same movies year after year? Look no further than Fox's The Exorcist, a new series that started last year inspired by the original 1973 film and novel by William Peter Blatty.

There's a new Exorcist show? Is it an adaptation, a sequel, a reboot, or remake? What is up with Hollywood these days, and is it even any good? Why are there so many ONTD posts about the show? Where would I even be able to watch it? Does John Cho play a big role? Are those two priests I see angsty gifsets of really as gay as people say they are?

Starring hot babes Alfonso Herrera (Hernando from Sense8) as Tomas Ortega, UK actor Ben Daniels as Marcus Keane (House of Cards), and Kurt Egyiawan (Beasts of No Nation) as Devon Bennett, The Exorcist is set in the same universe as a new entry in the horror franchise, taking place in modern-day with new priests and a new family.

The first season revolves around the Rance family, featuring Angela Rance (Academy Award Winner Geena Davis, Thelma & Louise), while the second season is a new story with the same leads featuring Andrew "Andy" Kim (ONTD fave and Selfie star John Cho) as the head of a foster family.

Some questions you might have I've provided answers for:

  1. What films do I need to watch before I dive into the show?

  2. What are the different entries in the Exorcist franchise even about (besides the obvious)?

  3. Where can I watch them?
