Carrie Fisher will NOT be in Episode IX...

It was previously reported that General/Princess/Saviour of Us All Leia Organa, aka the late great Carrie Fisher, would feature in Star Wars Episode IX using cut scenes from The Last Jedi.

However, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy (a known enthusiast of casting clones of herself in leading roles) has informed GMA that Todd Fisher must have been 'confused', as "Sadly, Carrie will not be in nine [...] But we will see a lot of Carrie in eight."

She confirmed that Carrie had completed her shooting obligations for The Last Jedi before her tragic passing in December, and that as the creative team working on Episode IX hadn't finished the screenplay yet they regrouped and "started over again" on the story so that Leia would NOT be in it.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be Carrie's final appearance as Leia Organa.

Director James Gray can't afford a house, has a hard time paying his bills

James Gray is an acclaimed American director who has had 4 movies compete for the Palme d'Or at Cannes but his movies struggle financially and he has a hard time getting them made:

You know, people assume that because I’m a director, I make tons of money. I am struggling financially. Now, I’m very lucky I get to do what it is I want to do. I’ve made, good or bad, very uncompromising movies, the movies exactly that I wanted to make, and that’s a beautiful gift, so I’m not complaining about that. But I struggle. I have a hard time paying my bills. I’m 47 years old, I live in an apartment, I can’t buy a house. If I were coming of age in 1973, I would be in Bel Air. The whole reason for this is exactly what we were talking about, where the middle is gone. So now you have franchises, and you have, ‘I made a movie on my iPhone.’ This is the economic system in a nutshell, right? Five directors make Marvel, and then there’s the rest of us who are trying to scrounge around to find the money to make films. And it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy: If the audience only gets to see Marvel, then they only want Marvel, and then if they only want Marvel, only Marvel is made. I don’t even have a problem with Marvel. The problem is not the specifics of each movie, the problem is it’s the only movie you can see now in a multiplex, and when it’s the only game in town, you’re looking at the beginning of the death throes of an art form.

ONTD, can you pay your bills?

Casting “Crazy Rich Asians”: The Privileges and Pitfalls of Being Eurasian

  • During early casting calls, producers stated the cast will be 'all-asian'

  • The casting of the lead male role went to Henry Golding, who is Eurasian

  • Many are objecting to the casting as this role could change the way American views an Asian leading man

  • Social Media, even Hong Kong based 'South China Morning Post' question the decision of casting an half-asian man. They question whether this is as far as Hollywood is willing to go in casting an Asian man even if the role was made for them, that they are only willing to go 'half' way.

  • Arguments from both sides have explored Eurasians' struggle for acceptance, one topic brought up was 'Is Eurasian Asian enough?'

  • People looked to Henry's British upbringing along with his British father, using this to argue that he is white, others argue that he is asian enough. They say that a half-asian man being casted should be seen as a good thing

  • Many look back at Hollywood's tradition of casting Eurasians as leads as a way to be 'diverse' while maintaining their 'whiteness'

  • Kwan, the author of the novel series says "For a movie that was supposed to break barriers, I really feel that they came up short in this casting decision. I’m sure Mr. Golding is talented and is going to do a great job. However, the message is clear; you simply CANNOT be a full-blooded Asian male in a romantic lead in Hollywood. From Daniel Henney to Russell Wong and even Keanu Reaves; only Eurasians will survive Hollywood casting scrutiny.”

  • Many of Kwan's fans were disappointed with the casting choice, they did not attack Henry but went after Hollywood's view of Asian men

ONTD, do you think an Eurasian man playing the role of an Asian man is ok? (legit not bait tbh)
