Directed by Barry Jenkins, Moonlight is a three-part narrative spanning the childhood, adolescence, and adulthood of an African-American man who survives Miami's drug-plagued inner city, finding love in unexpected places and the possibility of change within himself.
[So, was it well-received?]
MOONLIGHT is also a devastatingly beautiful love story. to put in the most reductive terms possible, think CAROL by way of Frank Ocean.— david ehrlich (@davidehrlich) September 3, 2016
MOONLIGHT has a third act that's as exquisitely observed, filmed, and acted as anything in years. Stunning— Richard Lawson (@rilaws) September 3, 2016

Potent, beautiful filmmaking/script. And holy jeeeeeeezus Naomie Harris (a standout) is a fierce, heartrending force of nature in MOONLIGHT— JASON (@MichaelNotCera) September 3, 2016

Moonlight - An exceptional work of cinematic beauty, telling a vital story of humanity. Triptych storytelling done right, immensely moving.— Alex Billington (@firstshowing) September 3, 2016
The PlayList/Gregory Ellwood: Like “Brokeback Mountain” a decade ago, “Moonlight” is a piece of art that will transform lives long after it leaves theaters. Those who will be changed by the picture may not see it on the big screen. They may even have to see it in secret. But when they do. Whey they watch Chiron have that first kiss, when he can be himself for just an instance in a world that oppresses him? It will be everything. [A]
Variety/Peter Debruge: “Black” isn’t just a race, community, or color, but one of three names by which a sexually conflicted young South Florida man allows himself to be called in a film that’s ultimately about taking control of one’s own identity. That’s exactly what Jenkins himself is doing by delivering a film so firmly committed to capturing the black experience, resulting in a socially conscious work of art as essential as it is insightful. A natural extension of his garrulous San Francisco-set debut, “Medicine for Melancholy,” the director’s beautifully nuanced, subtext-rich second feature is no less intellectually engaged, but proves far more trusting in audiences’ ability to read between the lines.
Hollywood Reporter/David Rooney: The Bottom Line: Glows likes its title... It would be tempting to call Moonlight an instant landmark in queer black cinema, if that didn't imply that the experience it portrays will speak only to a minority audience. Instead, this is a film that will strike plangent chords for anyone who has ever struggled with identity, or to find connections in a lonely world. It announces Jenkins as an important new voice. [Note: Review is incredibly spoiler heavy]
The Wrap/Sam Fragoso: “Moonlight” is not a public service announcement or a cry for help. It doesn’t fetishize Chiron’s pain, as so many pieces of contemporary American cinema do. It’s a humanist film; it’s about people, and it’s got a pulse. It presents characters as idiosyncratic, domineering, but mostly fearful — timid creatures ambling through life in the hopes of finding refuge.
Screen Daily/Tim Grierson: An indelible portrait of an imperilled life, Moonlight is quietly devastating in its depiction of masculinity, race, poverty and identity. Writer-director Barry Jenkins builds on the promise of his intimate 2008 romantic drama Medicine For Melancholy to examine a young African-American in danger of being dragged down by the destructive forces around him — and how, by embracing his true self, he may discover contentment. Ambitious in scope but precise in its execution, this deceptively small-scale character piece reverberates with compassion and insight.

Slate writer, L.V. Anderson offers some "plausible" explanations as to why Odell wasn't sexually attracted to Lena when they were both at the MET gala and it is a kiiiiii
- Anderson Suggested that perhaps maybe Odell was shy, in the middle of an important text on his phone, having a terrible night or gay.
- She also suggested that Lena has tapped into a real phenomenon: men who really don’t know what to make of women who don’t sexually interest them.
- Basically, The legendary Girls from The Haus of #ffffffeminism are pressed that a black man did not find one of them attractive.
ONTD, when was the last time you death dropped into conclusion? did you win that category? were you as iconic as Lena or did you settle for second place?
- On Kim waging a smackdown on Taylor Swift: "It's her husband, and he's family. The truth is the truth, so why not let it be known?"
- On whether her children watch KUWTK: "They've seen some of it, but no. I was in the shower, he [Mason] woke up, and it happened to be on. He was like, 'Who is Blac Chyna? And Kiki [Kim] showed Larsa [Pippen] her vagina!' I was like, this is why they don't watch the show. Some of the content is just not appropriate."

- Five color options including silver, gold, and rose gold, along with a "dark black" replacing the usual Space Gray and a glossy "piano black".

-Dual-lens rear camera on the iPhone 7 Plus. Both lenses will be 12-megapixel, but one will be a wide-angle camera with larger pixel sizes, a 6P lens, and optical image stabilization, while the second will be a telephoto lens with smaller pixel sizes and a 5P lens.
-3GM of RAM for the + Only

Here's the caption:
I owe Odell Beckham Jr an apology. Despite my moments of bravado, I struggle at industry events (and in life) with the sense that I don't rep a certain standard of beauty and so when I show up to the Met Ball surrounded by models and swan-like actresses it's hard not to feel like a sack of flaming garbage. This felt especially intense with a handsome athlete as my dinner companion and a bunch of women I was sure he'd rather be seated with. But I went ahead and projected these insecurities and made totally narcissistic assumptions about what he was thinking, then presented those assumptions as facts. I feel terrible about it. Because after listening to lots of valid criticism, I see how unfair it is to ascribe misogynistic thoughts to someone I don't know AT ALL. Like, we have never met, I have no idea the kind of day he's having or what his truth is. But most importantly, I would never intentionally contribute to a long and often violent history of the over-sexualization of black male bodies- as well as false accusations by white women towards black men. I'm so sorry, particularly to OBJ, who has every right to be on his cell phone. The fact is I don't know about his state of mind (I don't know a lot of things) and I shouldn't have acted like I did. Much love and thanks, Lena

-According to the source Britney feels like MTV misled her and she won't ever do the VMAs again.
-Britney is upset that MTV never mention Beyonce would perform or have such a strong performance, or that Britney would perform after Beyonce.
-MTV also gave Beyonce 15 minutes and Britney only 4 minutes.
-Britney and her team thought she would be the headliner but after the show everyone was talking about Beyonce, not Britney.
-“Everyone in Britney’s camp was really quite blindsided by Beyonce’s performance. Hardly anyone knew that Beyonce was going to be the main event. Britney is saying she will never do the VMAs again.”

Alejandro González Iñárritu says Enrique Peña Nieto's meeting with Donald Drumpf was a "betrayal"https://t.co/LfiK1iwQhb— IndieWire (@IndieWire) September 3, 2016
On August 31, Donald Drumpf met with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto (Peña Nieto invited him). Director Alejandro González Iñárritu criticized the President's decision to meet with Drumpf in an op-ed in the Spanish newspaper El Pais.
Summary of Iñárritu's Op-Ed:
- Iñárritu says that Drumpf's meeting with Peña Nieto validates him as a political candidate and gives him a platform to make speeches like he did in Arizona following his visit to Mexico.
- argues that Drumpf's campaign puts all 16 million Mexicans at risk.
- says that Drumpf's "fascist" outbursts and hateful rhetoric have damaged the core values of America.
- claims that the President has compromised the little dignity Mexico had left after Santa Ana lost half of their territory in the Mexican-American War.
- says that Peña Nieto no longer represents him.
