[Spoiler (click to open)]Glad that we finally get some Angela scenes with the siblings again. I'm not really sure about Elliot and Angela being a thing, but the scene during the visit was so great. Loved the scene with Zheng/Whiterose and Dom. Seeing Whiterose trying to share something so personal to Dom, almost on the verge of confessing, was so good. Also, good to see that Ollie is still a damn moron. Thoughts on last night's ep?

directher Not the first woman of color capable. Not by a long shot. This should have happened a long time ago with Julie Dash or Euzhan Palcy or Kathleen Collins or Neema Barnette. We need more. And more. And more. More voices. More kinds and creeds and colors of filmmakers. Thanks to Disney for making it so. And saluting my sister filmmakers. Onward for all of us. xo

DC Movieverse's leading man, Ben Affleck, suffered a bizarre wardrobe malfunction at the London Suicide Squad premiere last night. It looks like his pants fell apart at the zipper and there was nothing that could be done, as Ben's belt seemed to remain intact. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Needless to say, people are on borderline riot mode since it seems they're not even being refunded for pre sale tickets, but rather get a pass to another movie.

Jared Leto, Academy Award Winning Try-Hard, had an interview with Vanity Fair addressing the meme that is circulating with him and the Green Gucci Suit he wore to the Suicide Squad premiere.
Leto said, "The thing about the photo is—I’m going to be honest with you—I was actually making a face at someone across the runway. I have that feeling with most things [Gucci] makes because they make such beautiful things. But I was actually goofing off with a friend, and you can’t actually tell from the picture. Sorry to ruin your meme."

In a recent interview with HuffPost, Hank Azaria, who played scientist David on Friends, revealed that it was originally intended for Phoebe to end up with David, not Mike.
Azaria says, "The plan always was kind of to bring [David] back. I think, honestly, what happened was Paul Rudd is so awesome that they sort of found a groove with him and [my character] became more of just the grist for that mill. As opposed to the other way around. It actually did sting a little bit. Whatever part of me is David the science guy who went to Minsk, which admittedly is probably a small part of me [laughs], but that part of me wanted to end up with Phoebe. So I was sort of sad when I didn't."
Sarah Jessica Parker is on the cover of Marie Claire's September issue, and in her cover story she shared some thoughts on feminism.
"I am not a feminist. I don't think I qualify. I believe in women and I believe in equality, but I think there is so much that needs to be done that I don't even want to separate it anymore. I'm so tired of separation. I just want people to be treated equally."
She also shared her thoughts on the wage gap, "I would like all of that nonsense to end. I would like women to get paid for the value of their contributions, not by old-fashioned ideas about gender."
While she's not a feminist, she says she appreciates other actresses who talk about women's issues. "Listen, Jennifer Lawrence deserves every bit as much as her male counterpart. It's indisputable. Emma Watson is an amazing young woman, and it's important for her to talk about women's issues. She isn't concerned about herself. Women are paying the bills, getting it done, getting the kids here and there. The more we address that, we are all going to be better."

Cara is the September 2016 cover star of Esquire, and in her interview, she got frank about wanting to kill herself during her teen years when she had depression.
She says it started with the struggle of dealing with her mother's own manic depression and frequent hospitalizations. When she was eight, she declared she was going on a hunger strike to until she got the truth about her mother's absence. "I didn't feel like I had any control of anything in my life so I just kind of went on a food strike. I was like, 'I'm not going to eat until someone tells me where she is.'"
By the time she was sixteen, things had gotten even more serious. “I think I properly started dealing with depression when I was about 16 when all the stuff with my family started to make sense and came to the surface. I’m very good at repressing emotion and seeming fine. As a kid I felt like I had to be good and I had to be strong because my mum wasn’t. So, when it got to being a teenager and all the hormones and the pressure and wanting to do well at school — for my parents, not for me — I had a mental breakdown. I was suicidal. I couldn’t deal with it any more. I realized how lucky and privileged I was, but all I wanted to do was die. I felt so guilty because of that and hated myself because of that, and then it’s a cycle. I didn’t want to exist anymore. I wanted for each molecule of my body to disintegrate. I wanted to die. I would run off to the woods and smoke a pack of cigarettes and then I would smash my head so hard into a tree because I just wanted to knock myself out.”

''We are in the Great North, near the North Pole, in a modern town where about two hundred souls live precariously in minus fifty weather, and where roads lead to nowhere but the endless white. It is in this eerie lunar landscape that Lucy and Roman, two young tormented souls, fell in love. But now, ghosts from Lucy's past are coming back, and she needs to run away or she will burn.
Together, these lovers decide to make a leap for life, a leap for inner peace. They head out in the Great White, where the strangeness makes one feel he is travelling inside of himself.''
In a recent interview to GQ, Leto said he doesn't think a gay leading man would have the same opportunities as a straight leading man and that it shouldn't be this way.
Calls Hollywood a very conservative business.
The articles notes that there is a lack of gay male actors in leading-man roles, this summer the only one being Zachary Quinto in Star Trek Beyond. And there are several reasons for that: gay actors are still afraid to come out of the closet because of casting discrimination; studios are failing to showcase any LGBT characters in big-budget movies, this way cutting down job opportunities for LGBT actors and also a missed opportunity to broadcast acceptance; and when these roles do exist, they usually go to straight-identifying actors.
Leto won an Oscar for portraying the role of a transgender woman in 'Dallas Buyers Club.' Out of the dozens of actors (list here) who have been nominated for gay roles at the Oscars, only one, Ian McKellen, was an out gay man.
- Says that George Galloway and Nigel Farage are loathed by the BBC because both men are "liberal educators" and respect equal freedom for people (OP personally hates Farage because he is a lying neo-fascist, but whatevs I guess Moz)

An exhaustive (and sometimes graphic) report from the Indianapolis Star alleges that USA Gymnastics, the organization in charge of regulating gymnastics in the USA, repeatedly ignored complaints about sexually abusive coaches. Those coaches remained members "in good standing" with USAG for years, where they went on to abuse child after child. Membership and interest in joining the sport always explodes in the US after each Summer Olympics. People need to know, more than ever, the organization they're getting into. Some of the horrors from the report:
- Former head of the USAG testified that the organization had a "policy of dismissing complaints as 'hearsay' unless they were signed by a victim or victim’s parent — a policy that experts said could deter people from reporting abuse."
- "Legal experts told IndyStar the law doesn’t require firsthand information. All it requires is a 'reason to believe' abuse has occurred."
- William McGabe, a gymnastics coach who was sentenced to 30 years for sexual exploitation of minors in 2006, spurred complaints about him from different people: In 1998, one gym owner wrote to the USAG that McGabe "should be locked in a cage before someone is raped."
- In 2002, when the mother of a gymnast who enrolled in McGabe's gym heard about some of the allegations, she called the USAG. The organization told her that McGabe was "a coach in good standing". Her child became one of his victims.
- "[Steve] Penny, the USA Gymnastics president since 2005, testified in a 2014 deposition that the possibility of a witch hunt is 'very real' and officials have to move carefully on complaints 'because the coach is as much a member as the athlete.'"
bop of the year? i love it!
