‘I never wanted to be gay’: Christian musician comes out in letter to fans

- Trey Pearson is the lead singer of Christian rock band Everyday Sunday
- On Tuesday he released a letter to his fans where he came out as gay
- Admitted that he didn't want to be gay for a long time as he was scared of what God and the people he loved would think of him. He is currently married to woman.
- Says that since accepting who he is he has felt as if a weight he has been carrying his whole life has been lifted
- Says he hopes that coming out won't affect his career but knows some churchs and festivals won't ask him to come back. He has however lined up his first gig at a pride festival (the article however points out that several other Christian artists who have come out as gay such as Ray Boltz, Anthony Williams, Jennifer Knapp, Vicky Beeching have seldom been played on Christian radio stations since)
- After the letter said his family only responded with love. "My dad just showed up at my door and hugged me for a long time, which I really needed,” he said."

Jessica Alba covers InStyle; talks about the awkwardness of being a sex symbol while still a virgin.

"My sexuality made me very uncomfortable. I remember my first Maxim shoot, they were telling me to pose a certain way, and I was like, 'Agh! I'm 19. I'm a virgin. I don't even know how to do that.' It was so awkward."

"I sort of went through a life crisis. I was like, 'This isn't what I set out to be. I'm so much more than this, but I don't know how not to be a sex symbol.'"

Zendaya on the cover of Cosmopolitan's July issue

  • On the election and voting: "There's really crazy stuff happening right now, and it's disappointing, sad, and scary. My generation, we really have to step up to the plate and vote. Tweeting is great — people say, 'Oh, I don't want this or that' — but at the end of the day, tweeting isn't a ballot. Just saying that you don't like someone on Twitter is not going to turn a state blue or red. You have to vote."

  • On her return to Disney as the star and co-producer of K.C. Undercover: "The only way I was going to come back to the Disney Channel was if I was in a position of more power. One thing that is really important to me is diversity on the channel. It's hard as a young person of a different ethnicity or background to look at the TV and not see anyone who looks like you. Representation is very important."

Beacon Of Diversity @THR Assembles Six White Guys And One Black Guy For Tony Awards Roundtable

Mostly posting this for Leslie Odom Jr's face @0.56 and 1:02 when the Jack Black look-a-like was walking about diversity.

Question: what can hollywood learn from boardway regarding diversity?

0:29 - Zachary Levi jumps in to answer the question - hollywood is in a drought for capturing people's attention.

0:47 - Dude that looks like Jack Black - Hollywood sacrifices talent over whatever sells tickets. He grew up thinking show business was a meritocracy. He thinks the theatre is doing it right and people no matter what they looks like have brought incredible stories to light.

1:16 - Reed Birney (had to check the description box for his name) - broadway has always been ahead of it's time - the children's hour was about lesbians, while hollywood shied away from it.

It was really frustrating watching these guys derail the conversation and make it about what's relevant to them as white dudes. Apologies for any poor phrasing and typos - I'll probably edit this 10s of times after it's been approved. And before anyone comes for me for my title, yes I know these people have been nominated, but THR flops at havng diversity at these things hence the title.

The Game drags homophobic comments on instagram

After multiple homophic remarks over the years, (receipts, 1, 2 & more) Chris Brown took a picture with and showed love to Balmain head, Oliver Rousteing. The picture was posted on twitter and was followed by a slew of homophobic comments from haters. Many assumed since Chris was taking a picture with a gay man, he must be gay (this logic). Of course, Chris got on there & said what he had to say, but The Game jumped in and dragged the hateful commenters for filth.

Details on Sick Note starring Rupert Grint and Nick Frost

Rupert Grint and Nick Frost are to star in Sick Note, a new sitcom for Sky Atlantic.

The six-part series will focus on how "desperate a person's actions can become when a lie starts to spiral out of control".

Sick Note is the story of Daniel Glass, a compulsive liar. Just when things couldn't get any worse for him, he's diagnosed with esophageal cancer. But owing to the diagnosis, Daniel finds those around him begin treating him better.

However, Daniel then finds out he was misdiagnosed, leaving him with a big decision. He can come clean and go back to his old rubbish life, or keep this new information a secret and pretend to be ill.

Daniel decides to go for the latter option and lie, but very quickly the mis-truths spiral out of control and both Daniel and Dr Glennis who diagnosed him have to spend all of their waking lives trying to prevent the truth from getting out.

The sitcom will be shown on Sky Atlantic in early 2017, with the entire series being made available as an on-demand Sky Box Set.

Not bad. Rise ginger king, rise!

Michael Bay "Apologizes" For Body Shaming Kate Beckinsale

Follow up to this

tl;dr - he has a poster of Kate Beckinsale on his wall so he cannot be sexist. And there's no apology on his statement.

Full statement:

This poster has hung proudly over my desk for 15 years. Yesterday I read in the press that I don’t think Kate Beckinsale is “a stunning beauty,” huh? And they went on to suggest that Kate and I don’t like each other?

Well, totally untrue. Kate and I are friendly. She is a fantastic actress, very funny, witty lady, sassy, speaks her mind, and I truly respect her. That’s why she has come to so many of my Christmas parties and Birthday parties. This so called ‘problem of us not liking each other’ was reported by a tabloid-esque reporter after Kate appeared on an edgy English talk show, speaking about our meeting 16 years ago while casting Pearl Harbor. The reporter made her story into some scandalous confrontation, when it was nothing of the sort. Spoke to Kate today and she felt she told a funny story.

So I guess I was the “bad guy” 16 years ago for suggesting a trainer because she just had her new beautiful baby girl—and she was about to enter into an intensive action movie. Note to reporters: 95 % of leads in movies have trainers and drink green juice!

Rick Famuyiwa will direct 'The Flash'

  • This news comes a few weeks after Seth Grahame-Smith and WB agreed to part ways

  • WB will retain Grahame-Smith’s script, which he wrote alongside Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the duo behind the 'Lego Movie.'

  • Famyiwa is best known for his film 'Dope', which broke out at last year's Sundance and won the prize for best editing (lol at the lowkey BVS shade).

  • He recently directed HBO’s 'Confirmation', starring Kerry Washington as Anita Hill.

  • The Flash, starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, will be released on March 16, 2018.

More LGBT women are being killed off TV series than ever before

A new study done by Vox catalogued all the character deaths from the 2015-2016 television season (provided that the person was in three or more episodes) to examine the growth in death scenes in recent shows. Their discoveries are quite astonishing, with queer women having a higher rate of being killed off when compared to their overall ratio.

About 56% of deaths were male characters, and 44% women, which make sense since men are more represented onscreen.

26% were minorities (both men and women, LGBTQ included) and about 10% were LGBTQ women and 3% were LGBTQ men.

TV has consistently and disproportionately killed female, LGBTQ, and minority characters.

The article notes that the statistics back up those who "cry foul on television killing off too many queer women". Noting that unless it's a show like OITNB with a big number of women and LGBT characters, most shows only have one or two LGBTQ women characters recurring throughout a season (at most).

A full 10% of deaths being LGBTQ women is astonishing given how few of them recur on shows in general.

Rose McGowan criticizes X-Men Apocalypse poster for depicting violence against women

Rose McGowan told THR via Facebook:

"There is a major problem when the men and women at 20th Century Fox think casual violence against women is the way to market a film. There is no context in the ad, just a woman getting strangled. The fact that no one flagged this is offensive and frankly, stupid. The geniuses behind this, and I use that term lightly, need to to take a long hard look at the mirror and see how they are contributing to society. Imagine if it were a black man being strangled by a white man, or a gay male being strangled by a hetero? The outcry would be enormous. So let’s right this wrong. 20th Century Fox, since you can’t manage to put any women directors on your slate for the next two years, how about you at least replace your ad?"
(second source has the full statement)

New York blogger EV Grieve and the director of gender violence and rights for the International Center for Research on Women, Jennifer McCleary-Sills, also spoke out against the billboard.

Zach Levi: "If Chivalry Is Dead, [Women] Killed It."

In a new Maxim interview, actor Zach Levi spoke about his life, dating and more...and he had some interesting things to say.

First Date Tips:
Just don’t be a dick. Dating is so fucking dumb man, it’s so weird. It’s so fascinating, girls say chivalry is dead. And it’s like if it’s dead, you fucking killed it. Because it used to be a guy could be a guy and a girl wouldn’t be offended if he got the door or something, and now it’s like “I can get the door for myself, I’m a strong woman,” and then it’s like “Fuck! I don’t know anymore." First, know the type of girl you’re going on a date with, and if she’s into chivalry, that's great, and if she’s not, then she’s not.

Phillip Phillips Sued by 'American Idol' Producers for $6 Million

Phillip tried to get out of his contract with management company 19 Entertainment back in January 2015.

Phillip alleged that 19 manipulated him into accepting jobs. Now, 19 claims that the singer is holding onto $1 million of the company’s money and that he should also have to pay “at least $5 million for repudiating and breaching various agreements,”

“Phillips has refused and insists that he will continue to refuse to perform pursuant to the Agreements, thereby causing Plaintiffs additional damages,” the complaint states. “The amount of the additional damages from these continuing breaches is not presently calculable with precision but will be presented at the time of trial and will exceed $5,000,000.”

Phillip‘s lawyer responded: “19′s new complaint is a blatant attempt to evade California’s jurisdiction and thwart its fundamental public policies crafted to protect artists. 19 cannot murder its parents, then seek mercy as an orphan.”
