"Black Panther" sells more than a quarter-million copies in its first month

-The first issue of the new comic book run by Ta-Nehisi Coates and Brian Stelfreeze sold over 250,000 copies in April, easily topping the charts.

-Second place was another issue #1 and another Marvel/Disney nonwhite hero, Poe Dameron, at 175,000.

-The title accomplished this impressive feat without common gimmicks like lootcrate deals.

-T'Challa, who is celebrating his 50th anniversary this year, is now the first black Marvel solo superhero title to top the monthly sales chart (previous Marvel recordholder was Miles Morales Spider-Man, at #3; previous recordholder in general was Spawn back in the 1990's, who was the first and only black hero to ever hit #1... until now).

-Besides being the best-selling comic in its debut month, "Black Panther" is also the best-selling comic of 2016 to date.

-Interest in the title among first-time comic readers remains extremely high, according to retailers.

Don't forget that Coates has said he is more focused on gender and sexuality issues over racial ones in this comic!

Will Britney Spears ever be treated like an adult?

Fox news discusses whether is time for Britney's conservatorship to end or if she should continue under it because it works for her.
-They state that conservatorships are for drastic situations. Normally only older people with severe mental illness are put under them, not someone in their early 30's.
-Another panelist brings up the point that at age 34 it should at least be reevaluated to "give her more adult responsibilities"
-She's been doing so well for so long they can't keep her as a child forever, they need to start giving her more freedom.

Adrien Brody defends Woody Allen, Roman Polanski and Bill Cosby in new interview

Yesterday during an interview on Jenny McCarthy's SiriusXM talk show, Adrien Brody shared his opinion on the recent media coverage of Woody Allen following an open letter by Ronan Farrow. Brody, who has previously worked with Allen and also won an Oscar for the Roman Polanski film The Pianist, when asked about the controversy regarding allegations of child molestation for Allen and an actual conviction for Polanski, responded by saying, "Life is very complicated."

He went on to say that when he looks to collaborate with people he doesn't want them to judge him so he wouldn't do the same. "It's an artistic pursuit, and Polanski, for instance, had a very complicated and difficult life," he continued. "It would be unfair of me to delve into something as complicated as the past that was brought up in the media."

After continuing by saying that sometimes people make mistakes he was asked about his opinion on Bill Cosby and all the women that came forward, and surprise, his response was also not great.

"I don't even read about these things, to be honest," he explained. "I choose not to indulge this kind of fodder."

He ended the segment with essentially saying that some people have war in their countries.

"Of course it's horrible what comes out sometimes, and people have done things in their lives that may be inexcusable, but it's not something to focus on."

Chloe Bennet claims that Marvel dgaf about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

At Iowa's Wizard World Con, someone asked ~Daisy Johnson~ why Captain America, Black Widow, etc never help the AoS team with their Inhuman crisis.

I don’t know. People who make movies for Marvel, why don’t you acknowledge what happens on our show? Why don’t you guys go ask them that? Cause they don’t seem to care!

Later, a fan asked whether Bennet would like to appear in the MCU movieverse (lmao):

The Marvel Cinematic Universe loves to pretend that everything is connected, but then they don’t acknowledge our show at all. So, I would love to do that, but they don’t seem to keen on that idea.

The show was also recently booted to 10PM, a time slot which has been called "a rotating door of failed dramas in recent seasons."

Demi Lovato's Bold New Photoshoot for Refinery29

Her artpop could mean anything!

Photographer Nagi Saka recently released these interesting new photographs of Demi Lovato for Refinery29.

Highlights from the interview:
  • “Prior to getting sober, I was one of those people who was like, I don’t give a fuck, whatever. And I used that as an excuse to do whatever I wanted. I was a nightmare to work with.” Asked to describe her bad behavior, she is unforgiving of her former self: “Just bitchy, a cunt."
  • On when Wilmer will propose: “It’s nobody’s business but ours, and when it happens, it happens.”
  • Had to refrain from watching the movie Amy because seeing someone snorting coke was too triggering.
  • On her Twitter rants: "Listen, there’s nothing positive that comes from pitting women against each other. There are women that I don’t get along with, and that’s fine. My thing is, don’t brand yourself a feminist if you don’t do the work. I have an immense amount of respect for women like Lena Dunham...or Beyoncé, who make amazing political statements through their work.” (lol Lena Dunham, and Taylor shade perhaps?)
  • "By the time I go on tour, I want to be able to perform new songs,” she says. “Ideally, I would release a single next month.”
  • She now has a tattoo in honor of her late puppy, Buddy, which reads in child-like handwriting: "Buddy was here."

  • Filmmaker seeks help in making documentary about Disney's Haunted Mansion

Why are so many people enchanted with the mystery and appeal of a haunted attraction that happens to live in the happiest places on Earth?

Our film, “Foolish Mortals” is an examination of the fan culture surrounding Disney’s Haunted Mansion attraction. We are digging into the lives, creative work and experiences of the countless masses who have reached out to share their interest in our mutual obsession, looking for the reasons they’re in love and unearthing the ghostly materials within.

This film is unique in many ways. The film’s creators are veteran producers of content, James H. Carter II (*Director and host of the Creepy Kingdom Podcast) and Ryan Grulich (Producer) bring a wealth of production value and a true affinity for the IP to the table. We are not shooting this film on Disney property, or attempting to dig up old corpses or expose trade secrets. We love the Haunted Mansion and want to preserve and project it’s intimacy within the fan culture. We are collaborating with industry partners and Haunted Mansion based creatives worldwide to craft a one of a kind experience that will bring you deeper into the appeal of the attraction than ever before.

Cameron Diaz Was Surprised To Get Married After 40

The actor opened up to Harper's Bazaar about what has surprised her most and it was her marriage to Benji Madden.

"I got married last year," Diaz replied. In the first marriage for both, Diaz and the Good Charlotte rocker, 37, tied the knot in January 2015, after less than eight months of dating. "That was the biggest thing I've done in my 40s, and it opened me up in different ways. It's pretty awesome. I didn't think it was something I'd do, and I don't know if I'd have done it if I hadn't met my husband. It was a surprise."

She also admitted that she believes in "dressing your age". "Even when you're a certain age, it's all a matter of how you present yourself, how old your spirit is, and where you are in your life," she said. "Some 50-year-olds are still 35. It's about expression and what they can pull off."

Diaz revealed in the same interview which older women she admires most. "Gloria Steinem is one of the great feminist examples of a woman doing it her way," she replied. "Jane Fonda has also always been somebody who puts herself out there in a very honest way. I appreciate that. We have so many great examples in Hollywood, from Meryl Streep to Helen Mirren. They walk such a fine line between giving everybody what they want and not sacrificing themselves for it."

She also said, "If you seek the removal of freedoms from an opponent simply on the grounds that they have offended you, you have crossed a line to stand along tyrants who imprison, torture and kill on exactly the same justification."

Adele vs. Bey: Who will sweep the grammys?

-Lemonade is the highest rated album of 2016 so far and is Bey's most artistic effort yet but conservative voters could ruin her chances. The last young African-American artist to win Album of the Year was Outkast in 2004.

-25 could be the last diamond-selling album of our life time, an honor the grammys might not pass up. But, reviewers agree that the album is basically a 21 pt. II and the memoir narrative is missing.

What is the more deserving album, ONTD?

Gaming company under fire for sexualizing 15 year old biracial K-pop Star

(Somi is on the left, 19 year old bandmate Sejeong is on the right)
15 year old Jeon Somi is the most popular member of new girl group IOI . She was the #1 overall winner of the show "Produce 101"
Somi, who turned 15 in March, has been the target of gross sexualization by her largely old Korean man fanbase and one gaming company tried to take advantage of that
IOI was picked to promote this new video game and Somi shot advertisements for the game where she was dressed v inappropriately(the pic shown above)
She was also made into a character for the video game and she was given overexaggerrated body parts (ie. huge breasts)
Somi is also half white, leading many to speculate that Korean companies are more okay with sexualizing her and not her bandmates since she looks more "mature" and "exotic" and less Korean

Jon Berg and Geoff Johns now in charge of DC Films

    TL;DR version:

    • Zack Snyder & co seem to be taking a back seat due to the two critical missteps of Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman

    • As part of running DC Films, Jon Berg and Geoff Johns become producers on Justice League, as well as other future DC projects. Johns was reportedly heavily involved during production of Wonder Woman.

    • Jon Berg and Geoff Johns will balance each other out, with Berg being the seasoned film executive, and Johns being the comic veteran.

    • Both Berg and Johns have a close relationship with newly appointed Justice League executive producer Ben Affleck, with Berg collaborating with Affleck on both Argo and Live By Night and Johns reportedly co-producing and writing the Batman solo.

    • Johns is an integral part of DC Comics' "Rebirth" as well as DC TV's Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl.
