FINALLY - the movie that's been 16 years in the making is ready to make its (early) preview to the world. "Seoul Searching" is an '80s teen comedy based on director Benson Lee's personal experience at a government summer camp in 1986 for Koreans around the world to learn about their heritage. It turned out to be one of the craziest summers of his life.
Seoul Searching will be part of the premiere lineup in the 2015 sundance festival.

general anime post? what did you think of naruto's ending??
You turned down Lifetime's Devious Maids on principle. What else have you turned down?
It was about my journey and the stories that I wanted to tell and the change I wanted to create. Television and film are fictional reality to reflect our daily reality. I didn't connect to Devious Maids. I didn't want that to be my coming-out. I also passed on this hip-hop film — I can't remember what it was called but it hasn't come out — because it was really negative in the sense that it portrayed Latinos in a real negative light, and they were throwing a huge chunk of change my way, and I just couldn't do it. And thank God. I wouldn't have changed anything because this is what I was meant to do. This is supposed to be my journey. Whether this journey lasts one season or 10, I'll take what I can get, because these are the stories that I want to tell.
Y A S!!!!!!!!!!! MI REINA. i love how unashamedly she talked on twitter about wanting to be nominated bc she knows she deserves it. im all here for a confident and talented Latina getting recognized <3

- On December 7, while she was out of the house he decided to kill the rabbit
- [TW for sensitive pet owners]He (allegedly) skinned it, cooked it, and ate half of it while sending her step-by-step pictures of what he did.
- When she got back he (allegedly) told her he would do the same to her.
He really thought it was fatal attraction smh.
ONTD, have you ever dealt with a crazy ex?
Tyra Banks and The CW are being sued by a former America's Next Top Model contestant, who claims she was stripped of her title, which she was awarded in the taped finale of the "All Star" seventeenth season, due to her background as a paid escort.
Angelea Preston (right) claims in her breach-of-contract suit, in which she is seeking $3 million in damages, that she did not violate any rules since she had worked as an escort long before her participation in the show.
The suit also alleges that contestants were subject to poor conditions, such as no meal breaks and enduring twelve-hour workdays.
The CW has naturally dismissed Preston's claims as being "without merit."
Let's get the inevitable out of the way:
- Premiered with two other, now cancelled, romantic comedy shows (A to Z and Manhattan Love Story) and was the best of the pack.
- Remaining episodes are airing on Hulu on Tuesdays
- Being cancelled has given the show the freedom to really explore the chemistry between John Cho and Karen Gillan instead of needlessly dragging things out. It's made a good show even better.
This week's episode was fantastic, even though it was almost too real for me. Can't wait for the final three episodes!

Almost everyone describes the 17-year-old Adnan the same way: good kid, helpful at the mosque, respectful to his elders. But a couple of months ago, Sarah started getting phone calls from people who knew Adnan back then, and told her stories of a different kind of boy.

-happened in the mid-80s
- Cosby gave her a drugged cappuccino when she visited his home to read through lines for her part on The Cosby Show
-didn't speak out because “Black men have enough enemies out there already, they certainly don’t need someone like you, an African American with a familiar face and a famous name, fanning the flames.”
-read the whole thing, its short and very powerful
OMG, this made me cry...this guy is a monster
Q: Why did you use a child for the figure of God?
Ridley Scott: Not figure of God. “Malak” means messenger. So “Malak,” to begin with, is the messenger of God. If you’re going to represent God in many shapes and forms, which He will appear, the biggest form of all is probably nature. That’s his power, that’s his base, that’s his beauty, that’s his threat. And occasionally when you want to communicate with someone, it’s very easy with His power to chose a messenger. Or some more popular word might be “angel.” But I didn’t like the idea of an angel associated with wings. I wanted everything to be reality based [...]
Christian Bale: How would you have represented God, if you were in Ridley’s position? ‘Cause it is very easy to pick apart someone’s choice for a depiction of God, you know, but if you’re actually in Ridley’s shoes, it’s an immensely difficult thing. How on earth do you do that?

Hae Min Lee, a Baltimore high school senior was, according to police, allegedly killed in a Best Buy parking lot by her ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed. The BBC has kept details about this year's Doctor Who Christmas special especially close to the chest this year. Probably a smart move, given that last year's special, which also served as a goodbye to Matt Smith, was an unforgiveable waste of time, talent and taste.
So it should come as no surprise that the first (and last) full trailer for the episode gives us nothing new. Santa runs some kind of underground base? There are slime monsters? Clara actually gets to wear pants for once? The Doctor really likes that sequin sweater?
Other than that, we can only hope that Capaldi's strange magnetism, Coleman's admirable gumption, and the spirit of Christmas itself can get us through whatever Moffat has planned.
How do you feel about 12's hole/sequin sweater, ONTD?

Some consistent comments from early critic reviews of Marco Polo
- They spent $90 mil on it - most expensive TV show behind Game of Thrones.
- Crappy dialogue and writing in general
- The lead (Lorenzo Richelmy) is awful, one reviewer has dubbed him "CW-lite"
- Negative reviews coming from top reviewers too like Hollywood Reporter and Variety
- Consistent praise for Benedict Wong (plays Kublai Khan). Also not enough Joan Chen (Empress Chabi) and other supporting cast members--it also been noted the writing brings these actors down.
- Other reviews calling it out for its racism and sexism and unnecessary amount of female nudity (men remain fully clothed of course)
Easily the most exciting thing to come out of Sweden - apart from Alexander Skarsgaard's butt - The Pirate Bay torrent site was shut down a couple of days ago after a police raid on its servers in Stockholm.
Co-founder Peter Sunde wrote in a blog post: (source is here)
TPB has become an institution that people just expected to be there. Noone willing to take the technology further. The site was ugly, full of bugs, old code and old design. It never changed except for one thing – the ads. More and more ads was filling the site, and somehow when it felt unimaginable to make these ads more distasteful they somehow ended up even worse.
The original deal with TPB was to close it down on it’s tenth birthday. Instead, on that birthday, there was a party in it’s “honour” in Stockholm. It was sponsored by some sexist company that sent young girls, dressed in almost no clothes, to hand out freebies to potential customers. There was a ticket price to get in, automatically excluding people with no money. The party had a set line-up with artists, scenes and so on, instead of just asking the people coming to bring the content. Everything went against the ideals that I worked for during my time as part of TPB.
So basically, fair points to him, he DGAF, etc. Always good to see people take a stand against sexism...
Meanwhile, let's take a look at what the commoners on the streets have to say. "I can't wait to start spending my hard earned cash on expensive DVD's and Blu Rays instead of my rent and education," said nobody ever. "The only reason why I even exist on this godforsaken planet is to fund Tom Cruises's lifestyle."
Absolutely nobody else agreed. "I enjoy going to the cinema and paying in blood for overpriced popcorn and soft drinks. Hollywood movies are so original, well written and diverse, they deserve all the money they can get, poor starving producers!"
Meanwhile, Europeans and other non US citizens grit their teeth into stubs as they patiently try to explain to their American friends that no, Netflix and other legal streaming sites are not always an option because in some countries those services don't even fucking exist.

The Russian Orthodox Church has succeeded in shutting down a giant "Eye of Sauron" installation on top of a Moscow tower intended to promote the Hobbit movie trilogy.
The exhibit would have featured a giant red eye as a symbol of Sauron, the evil lord of the Middle Earth, on top of one of Moscow's new skyscrapers. It would have been launched Wednesday night as Moscow gets ready for the premiere of "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies," the latest movie of the saga of the Ring.
The conservative Orthodox church didn't like it one bit. The Russian state-funded broadcaster RT writes that the church's spokesperson, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, took to Govorit Moskva radio to say: "such a symbol of triumphant evil rising above Moscow and becoming one of the tallest objects in the city … is it good or bad? I am afraid it's mostly bad. One shouldn't be surprised if something goes wrong with the city after that." He went on to call the eye a symbol of Satan.
The piece of art would have measured 1 meter in diameter and would have been put on the roof of the "IQ-quarter" complex in Moscow International Business Center "Moscow-City."
In the novel from J.R.R. Tolkien, the red eye symbolizes the evil lord's wish to control everything, an allusion that many critics link to state surveillance.
Rob Gronkowski (of the NE Patriots) did an interview with ESPN mag where he talks about Brady and injuries and also did a photoshoot with kittens that ESPN mag really enjoyed

- he cried real tears when he hurt his knee
- he likes Brady but tells all his friends that he's mean and isn't going to get him a christmas present
- he does pushups while watching Spongebob

As white powder begins to coat the ground like a mirror on Robert Downey Jr.'s coffee table circa 1986, we look forward to a happy and healthy holiday season. Our tables will soon be filled with gluten-free Christmas pudding, roast dinners with all the fixings, and a Christmas morning fry-up, all painstakingly Photoshopped onto our real holiday tables that are actual completely empty. In honor of this auspicious occasion, let us join together like Mary and Joseph, or if you prefer, Bey and Jay, and celebrate the true meaning of the holiday season - material possessions. With goop to guide us like the North Star of white folks, let us begin our holiday journey.

'Selma' Gets an Endorsement from President George H.W. Bush http://t.co/BoSAuNAfKx— Hollywood Reporter (@THR) December 12, 2014
Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara hosted a screening of 'Selma' in Houston on Tuesday, and said this (statement from Bush):
“Selma magnificently recreates the strong emotions felt across our nation, vividly taking us back to when Martin Luther King, Jr. led the civil rights movement,” Bush said in a statement. “Together, the filmmakers and cast not only captured the pain and conflict of that challenging time, but also how far we have come as a society – and, in so doing, reminded us how the freedom to protest peacefully and the power of human spirit make America so great.”
This morning rapper Jay-Z met with Governor Cuomo to push for an overhaul to a justice that allows the murderer of Eric Garner to walk free. Cuomo has promised to sign a bill granting special prosecutors the power to investigate future killings of civilians by police.
