queen keira knightley for glamour uk november

In this month's GLAMOUR magazine, our brand new cover star Keira Knightley talks all about her wedding day, how she felt about turning 30 and whether she's found her looks to be a blessing or a curse…

"I don't think you can say that they're a curse……it would be stupid of me to say that my looks haven't played a part in my career, because obviously they have," she told us.

"And obviously they have got me contracts with Chanel, but there have been as many, if not more, parts that I haven't got because of the way that I look. So I suppose it balances out. And I do think that in every profession, regardless of what they look like, people have to prove themselves again and again."

Colin Firth and Kevin Hart to Co-Star in Remake of The Intouchables?

A French website reports that not only is Colin Firth still attached to a remake of the 2012 hit French film The Intouchables but that Kevin Hart has signed on to the role originally played by Omar Sy. Chris Tucker had originally been said to be interested in the part back in 2012.

There is no other official word about the production of the remake, but if this casting were true, it would point towards a remake that contained more broad humor than the original film which had a mix of drama and humor.

No directors are attached though the likes of Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) and Tom Shadyac (Ace Venture, Bruce Almighty) have been approached in the past.

Alexander Wang + Jesse Marco - "Urban Survival Mix"

A busy year for Alexander Wang that has included three full collections and a host of collaborations – amongst them H&M and Beats by Dre – is set to end on a high note. To be specific, Wang recruited New York DJ Jesse Marco to curate the soundtrack for his forthcoming Tokyo pop-up shop. Dubbed “Urban Survival” in keeping with the store concept, the mix of bopping hip-hop, trap, and electro is perpetually energetic without ever being monotonous. Classic cuts from Nas flow seamlessly into garage tracks, while contemporary anthems by A$AP Ferg and Drake accurately represent new popular music.

Drag Queens Declare Victory as Facebook Apologizes, Says It Will 'Fix' 'Real Name' Policy

Facebook's head of product Chris Cox apologized on Wednesday to "the affected community of drag queens, drag kings, transgender, and extensive community of our friends, neighbors, and members of the LGBT community" for the "hardship" caused by the company's "real names" policy, which resulted in the deactivation of many accounts after the social network began to enforce rules requiring users to attach their birth names to personal pages.

A group of dissenters led by Sister Roma of the San Francisco chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence met with Facebook officials last month and reported afterward that the company would continue to enforce the policy, keeping accounts active for two weeks to people could decide whether to provide their "real" names.

The group had a second meeting today.

FCC Will Consider Petition to Ban 'Redskins'

The head of the Federal Communications Commission said the agency will consider a petition to ban the Washington Redskins nickname from the public airwaves.
The commission “will be dealing with that issue on the merits, and we'll be responding accordingly,” FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler said Tuesday.

A law professor challenged the use of the name on broadcast television, saying it violates FCC rules against indecent content. Native American and other groups have demanded the name be changed, calling it a racial slur.

Wheeler did not offer a timetable for a ruling on the matter. He has previously said he finds the name “offensive and derogatory,” but that he hoped Redskins owner Dan Snyder would change it without any formal action.
Snyder has vowed never to change the name.

I hope this goes through & is enforced. Has this & everything else going on w/in the NFL recently changed your stance on watching games this football season, ONTD? Do you still plan to tune in for the Superbowl?

Judge sentences Joe Giudice to 41 months in federal prison

-Judge sentences Joe Giudice to 41 months in federal prison and orders him to pay over $400,000 in restitution after YELLING at him as his wife Teresa awaits her sentence

-U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas has sentenced Joe Giudice to 41 months in federal prison and ordered him to pay restitution of $414,588

-Joe read a letter to the court promising he would be a 'better man'

-The couple, who star on the Real Housewives of New Jersey, have four daughters, Gia, Gabriella, Milania and Audriana

-Under federal sentencing guidelines Teresa could get 21 to 27 months

-The judge yelled at the couple in court today for omitting on financial forms they had purchased new cars, furniture and construction equipment over the past few months

-The judge then said these actions do not make the couple seem 'worthy of leniency,' and brought up the possibility of charging them with perjury

-Joe's lawyer blamed these recent actions on the difficulty his client has been having emotionally since the death of his father this past June

U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas has sentenced Joe Giudice to 41 months in federal prison and ordered him to pay restitution of $414,588.

He will also have to serve two years of probation, almost the maximum sentence that could have been handed down after he and his wife, Teresa Giudice, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and three types of bankruptcy fraud earlier this year.

Teresa, one of the stars of Real Housewives of New Jersey, is awaiting her sentencing, but the judge has said she will not serve at the same time as Joe so one of them can care for their daughters.

Teresa Guidice Throws Bravo Under The Bus Ahead Of Sentencing!

Teresa Giudice will be sentenced Thursday morning ... and TMZ has learned she'll throw herself at the mercy of the court, telling the judge "Real Housewives of New Jersey" is phony and she's actually real nice.

Teresa has filed legal docs in which she argues for NO jail time. She says the judge should not be influenced by her role in "RHONJ" because "The image is little more than a carefully crafted fiction, engineered by Bravo TV through scripted lines and clever editing."

She also says she and Joe have 4 young daughters. Joe -- who will almost certainly be sentenced Thursday to prison -- is now also subject to deportation. Teresa says if she goes to prison, the girls will likely have to be split up because no one relative can take all 4.

And Teresa says ... she"s more than happy to forfeit any ill-gotten money from the wire fraud if she gets to skate. She says she's willing to do community service and accept home detention.

And finally Teresa says she does a lot of charity work with sick kids and others, and she can be more useful in the community than behind bars.

Here's the problem. The sentencing guidelines provide for a prison sentence of somewhere between 21 and 27 months. She's gunning for mercy.

Danny Glover, Maya Rudolph to Star in Diego Luna’s ‘Mr. Pig’

Actor-director-producer Danny Glover (“Lethal Weapon,” “The Color Purple,” “Blindness,” “2012”) and Maya Rudolph (“Bridesmaids”) will star in Diego Luna’s English-language “Mr. Pig,” a road movie set in Mexico, which has just gone into production.

Written by Luna and Augusto Mendoza, his co-scribe on fiction debut “Abel,” “Mr. Pig” is set up at Canana, the Mexico City/L.A. production house Luna founded with Gael Garcia Bernal and Pablo Cruz and which has become a powerhouse producer for a new generation of Mexican helmers.

Mundial, the joint sales venture of Canana and IM Global, is handling international sales.

Boasting on paper some of the affectionate playful humor which made “Abel” Luna’s debut a hit, but a step up in scale and Luna’s second movie in English as a director, “Mr. Pig” turns on a farm-worker (Glover) who travels from the U.S. to Mexico, accompanied by a pig. They strike up a friendship of sorts.

Following on “Cesar Chavez,” also helmed by Luna, and a Pantelion release in the U.S. and Videocine release in Mexico, “Mr Pig” marks a further play by Canana, one of Mexico’s most international companies, for audiences in the U.S. and Mexico, as a movie’s home markets, and beyond in the rest of the world.

“’Mr. Pig’ is a beautiful road movie, and a chance to talk about love for Mexico through the eyes of an American,” said producer Pablo Cruz at Canana.

“It’s has a U.S. appeal because of Danny and its English-language. It’s obviously has a Mexican appeal because of Diego and other Mexican actors involved. And we’re looking to Mundial to take it into international markets,” Canana’s Pablo Cruz told Variety.

‘Stalker’ is just more violence against women disguised as entertainment

Several years ago, while looking for something to watch on television, I accidentally stumbled across an episode of “Criminal Minds” in which a young woman was tied to a chair. Her eyes were taped open. A man was about to pour acid into her eyes.

I don’t know what happened next because I switched channels. It was too much to watch. Too much to even think about.

Now CBS has added “Stalker” to its lineup of “horrific, misogynistic tales,” as actor Mandy Patinkin referred to the storylines on “Criminal Minds” after he left the show. Patinkin said he quit because it “was destroying my heart and soul.”

#Swiftober continues. Taylor Swift covers Fashion Canada!

I’ve never had more friends who I can trust and rely on, but there’s always a bit of your self-perception that’s frozen in junior high, when you trained yourself to not feel cool. You never really feel like you’re a part of the ‘in’ crowd, but growing up means that matters to you less and less every day.

- Taylor Swift - Fashion Magazine Canada, November 2014

You have to give emotion in order to evoke emotion in people. What I see cutting through are singers who give details and insights about their lives, because people feel appreciative that you’ve trusted them with that information. Being revealing can present itself in different ways—I’ve chosen to do it emotionally because that feels more natural to me.

The Knick: The New Yorker's Emily Nussbaum writes a re-review + 1x08 clip and stills

I Changed My Mind About “The Knick”

What if you change your mind? It’s a problem built into a TV critic’s job, which, unlike most arts criticism, takes place over seasons and years, across hiatuses and summer doldrums and newfangled “mid-season finales.” A pilot is one art form, a finale another. In between, the question comes up over and over: Should I write early in the season? Three-quarters of the way through it? After a particularly provocative episode? Or maybe years after the finale has aired?

Every critic has his or her own rules, and some of mine are pretty masochistic. If I pan a show, I keep watching: I want the chance to change my mind. This doesn’t apply to mixed reviews, but when there’s a show that I’ve truly thrown down with—this means you, “The Newsroom,” and you too, “True Detective”—a pan demands commitment. So far, this rule hasn’t meant much. I’ve watched a few shows turn into something much better (“Cougar Town,” for one), and others get worse (“Two Broke Girls”), or confirm my opinion in maddening ways (“Smash,” which I first praised, then panned—and which I miss more than any other terrible show). I’ve had fresh insights, and, at times, I’ve gained greater sympathy for what the creators were trying to do. But generally, I haven’t actually started to like a show that I used to seriously dislike.

Mirror, Mirror: When Style is 'Ghetto' On Black Women, 'Chic' On Whites

This article originally appeared on the Philadelphia Inquirer site.

Something about the models walking the DKNY catwalk last month in coifs that Lucky magazine called "slicked-down tendrils" - known in my hood as baby hair - tweaked my Queens-reared soul.

I felt a similar pull in April when Marie Claire called Kendall Jenner's cornrows "epic." Hmmph - no one ever declared mine anything but necessary for swimming in the summertime.

That tug was followed by a twinge last week when Los Angeles Times reporter Ingrid Schmidt wrote a story about braids, referring to Bo Derek as their matriarch. Hello, what about Cicely Tyson?

Add Vogue's recent article claiming we're in the era of big booties - because Iggy Azalea and Kim Kardashian are making round backsides aspirational for the masses - and you might as well render me invisible.

The King of Gays™ wants people to have sex to his new songs

Recently going solo and releasing his own album, Nick also opened up about what he'd add to his own Spotify algorithm. "If I had to make my own list, it would be a little bit of Lionel Richie, a little bit of Frank Ocean and a little '80s vibe in there somewhere." Adding that he'd even include a Canadian star. "Even 'Hold On, We're Going Home'. the Drake song. That kind of vibe."

With a decidedly sexy playlist like that, it should come as no surprise that the singer is creating songs for people to get down to. "I really try to be aware of the purpose of each song," Jonas says. "There are songs on my record that I want people to have sex to, and songs people can listen to when they're pissed off and I think that's the beautiful thing about music: In those moments, you hear it and it elevates the scenario."

There’s A New AALIYAH Biopic Trailer, And — Wait, Is That IGGY AZALEA?

A new trailer for Lifetime’s upcoming Aaliyah biopic, “Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B,” has hit the Internet, and it features an unexpected cameo from one Iggy Azalea.

A musical cameo, that is. The Australian rapper’s “Goddess,” off of her New Classic debut, soundtracks the preview, which premiered on E! News on Wednesday (October 1). The song selection makes sense — the late Aaliyah Haughton was more than a woman, after all.

The trailer opens with a vision of Aaliyah’s mother counseling the rising star, played by Alexandra Shipp. “It takes more than some hot producer to create a superstar,” actress Rachael Crawford says. “It takes the right artist.”

Watch E! News’ new trailer for “Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B” below.

“Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B” premieres November 15 on Lifetime.

The Maze Runner stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Newt), Kaya Scodelario (Teresa), Ki Hong Lee (Minho) and Patricia Clarkson (Ava Paige) are reprising their roles in the sequel. New cast members include Aidan Gillen as the villainous Assistant Director Janson, a.k.a. The Rat-Man, Rosa Salazar as Brenda and Jacob Lofland as Aris Jones.

Catherine Zeta-Jones Cast As Colombian Drug Lord In New Film

The true crime story of Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco is coming to the big screen in a new biopic called The Godmother.

Blanco earned the nicknames La Madrina, Black Widow, and the Cocaine Godmother because of her violent role in the drug wars of the 1980s. Born in Cartagena, Colombia, Blanco emigrated to New York City, where she began a cocaine business with her husband. She later moved to Miami, where she built a billion-dollar empire before the age of 40. In 1985, her world came crumbling down. Authorities arrested Blanco, and she served 18 years in prison before her release in 2004. In 2012, a gunman shot her down in a motorcycle assassination in Colombia.

According to The Washington Post, Blanco's fearsome demeanor even inspired the character of Tony Montana from Scarface, and Jada Pinkett-Smith's Gotham character, Fish Mooney.

You might be wondering who's been cast to play the lead role. Blanco — although a criminal — provides one of the few opportunities for a Latina to take the lead in a powerful, challenging role in a major Hollywood production. Eva Longoria? Maybe Kate del Castillo? How about Morena Baccarin? Or even fellow Colombiana Catalina Sandino Moreno? Word had it that even J.Lo was hungry for the role. Given the amount of talented Latina actresses in the business today, the possibilities are truly endless.
