Infinite Climax Time! Primary Game of the Year 2014 Contender Incoming!!

A new Nintendo Direct video detailed some of the new aspects of Bayonetta 2, which launches exclusively for Wii U on Oct. 24 (Rest of the world. Available in Japan on September 20). For the first time, Nintendo announced that the cosplay options available in the original Bayonetta will also be available in Bayonetta 2. These include Bayonetta's wild takes on Princess Peach, Daisy, Link and Samus. But a surprise interstellar mercenary is also given the costume treatment: an outfit reminiscent of Fox McCloud, hero of the "Star Fox" games, was also revealed for Bayonetta 2 during this Nintendo Direct, which you can watch in full below.

The Nintendo Direct also revealed Rodin as a playable character in Bayonetta 2's multiplayer Tag Climax mode and showed off the first footage of multiplayer action.

Nintendo had previously announced that the Wii U version of the original Bayonetta would be included with the packaged version of Bayonetta 2, available in stores at a suggested retail price of $59.99. But for the first time, Nintendo detailed the pricing plan for the downloadable versions of the games for players who opt to purchase both digitally. When buying both games separately in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U, a special discount will be applied during the purchase process, making the total for both games just $59.98.

The Nintendo Direct also provided more details about previously-announced features of Bayonetta 2, including characters, storyline, combat mechanics, weapons, magic, Bayonetta’s trademark Torture Attacks and the new Umbran Climax.

Here is the new trailer for the game as well!

Williams vs. Wozniacki: Friends Fighting for Legacies at 2014 US Open Final

"I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to win," is an oft-repeated phrase in reality television and athletic competitions alike.

But at Sunday's U.S. Open final, Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki will set out to prove that those two things aren't mutually exclusive.

Dear friends off the court, Serena and Wozniacki will have to put their love for each other aside as they step out onto Arthur Ashe Stadium, each hoping to cement her legacy even further.

While there is always a lot on the line in the final of a Grand Slam, this is a particularly significant match for both women.

Serena won her 17th Slam at the U.S. Open last year, but she has been stuck at that lofty number ever since. While she has five titles to her name this season and is still firmly the world No. 1, she hadn't been beyond the fourth round of a major until this week.

She is looking to tie Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova with 18 majors, second in the Open Era behind Steffi Graf's 22. At nearly 33, Serena's time to chase history is certainly dwindling, and going an entire season without a major would be a big blow.

Wozniacki, currently ranked No. 11, is going for history of a different kind. The former No. 1, who finished the 2010 and 2011 seasons on top of the rankings, is still looking for her first major title. If she can achieve that, she would become the first Danish tennis player to win a major. She'd also get a mammoth-sized monkey off of her back.

At one point, the Dane was seen as the leader of her generation in the WTA. However, over the past couple of years, her contemporaries, Petra Kvitova and Victoria Azarenka, have surpassed her with two majors each. Now, as fit as she's ever been and with the perfect balance of defense and offense in her game, Wozniacki looks poised to regain her throne and challenge for majors for years to come.

Britney dropping new music before the end of the year, wants to pull a Beyoncé?

First, an insider revealed this on the Pulse Music forum

"Just popping by to say hi! :) Oh and that my friend that works at RCA supposedly heard like 5 new Britney songs at a listening session and said supposedly she's already recording a new album. I don't know this friend all that well, so take it with a grain of salt, but he has given me lots of free swag...vinyls, promo posters, etc. I totally thought she was gonna retire after Vegas.

Trust me, I am too. As I said, I don't know how accurate any of this is - I just thought I'd share what I'd heard. This friend also doesn't even like Britney much, and apparently he said the tracks he heard were really good. I want to be cautiously optimistic that her team realizes how badly BJ bombed and are looking to right the course of the ship, maybe halfway through her Vegas gig to renew the interest, but who knows. Anyway, I'm glad to have at least sparked some conversation."

Piers Morgan: I wouldn't interview Madonna if she begged me

Piers Morgan has reignited his ongoing feud with Madonna, insisting that she remains "banned" from all TV shows that he works on.

The Life Stories host said that the ban he placed on the US popstar from appearing on his CNN show was still in action on his British chat show.

"She's also banned from Life Stories," he told Digital Spy.

"If Madonna was in here now, naked, and begged me and offered herself on a plate, I would run a mile. And then I'd reinforce the ban for another 10 years."

He added: "If you're watching, [Madonna], you're not coming on. stop begging me."

The Veronicas Tease New Power Ballad Single, "You Ruin Me"

The Veronicas have revealed they came to blows in the studio over their risky comeback single You Ruin Me. Lisa and Jess Origliasso had a sisterly spat over who would sing the verses on the emotionally-charged song, their first new music in two years.

The siblings’ career was on hold indefinitely after restructuring of their American label left their long-awaited 2012 album, Life on Mars, on the shelf. They finally extricated themselves from the multi-million dollar deal they won a decade ago and have now signed to Sony worldwide.

The Veronicas were readying a pop return to the airwaves when they decided to write one more song at a Sydney studio with local (s)hitmakers DNA just six weeks ago. Anger at ex-boyfriends and the messy legal manoeuvrings which stymied their career for several years inspired You Ruin Me. The women had finished their record and were about to film the video for another song when they decided on a late-night songwriting session.

After bashing out a couple of upbeat pop songs — and a couple of wines — Lisa suggested they return to the studio just before midnight and “just write a song for us”. By 1.30am, it was done.

Rejected Princess Project: Petra Herrera

Mexico now has its Disney-type princess called Petra Herrera. She is supposed to be a revolutionary commander who lead a battalion of women through the Mexican revolution. Former Dreamworks animator, Jason Porath, drew Petra in a similar way all Disney princesses are drawn for an upcoming project he’s working on called “Rejected Princesses,” in which he’s looking to change the perception of women’s rolls in animated movies. “The women of “Rejected Princesses” have either incredible or terrible stories but they’re all very different than the ones told by Dreamworks, Disney or Fox,” said Porath in an interview.

TIFF: Face of an Angel Premiere aka that Amanda Knox movie featuring Cara Delevingne

It’s hard to even describe this will-o’-the-wisp film, and audiences are likely to feel alternately intrigued and frustrated as they struggle to puzzle it out. A bankable name cast -- Daniel Bruhl, Kate Beckinsale and Cara Delevingne -- should help find viewers to a certain extent, but this is self-reflexive cinema and high art country, where only the intrepid dare. More festival exposure is sure to follow its bow in Toronto, in any case.

The film is dedicated "to the memory of Meredith Kercher, 1985-2007", and this is the only direct reference to the real people in the case. Instead of making the kind of juicy, true crime re-enactment that would have been a surefire draw, he opts in true Winterbottom fashion to search for a deeper meaning and for something closer to truth. So he foregoes all but a cursory account of Meredith’s murder and her suspected killers, preferring to describe the aftermath of the murder, the media frenzy, and the girl whose young life was truncated. Everything is seen through the eyes of a sensitive filmmaker obsessed with Dante, who has been commissioned to make the commercial film that Winterbottom won’t make.

Joan Rivers' Funeral Proves to Be 'Hollywood All The Way'

Howard Stern delivered the eulogy and Broadway singer-actress Audra McDonald sang "Smile" at Joan Rivers' funeral Sunday, a star-studded send-off that brought together the worlds of Hollywood, theater, fashion and media.

A men's choir singing Broadway hits kicked off the 10 a.m. ceremony before six-time Tony Award-winner McDonald sang her tribute to Rivers, a champion of theater for decades. Hugh Jackman was expected to sing at the end, according to someone who was in attendance but did not want to give their name due to the sensitivity of the situation.

They were among the legion of notables who turned out at New York's Temple Emanu-El to remember Rivers, who died Thursday at 81: Kathy Griffin, whose edgy, biting comedy career was largely made possible by Rivers; colleague and friend Kelly Osbourne; Sarah Jessica Parker and Whoopi Goldberg; Howard Stern and celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz.

Theater stars Bernadette Peters, Alan Cumming and Tommy Tune were there. Record producer Clive Davis was, too. Fashion designers Carolina Herrera and Michael Kors were there. Stars from TV such as Barbara Walters, Geraldo Rivera, Diane Sawyer, Kathie Lee, Hoda Kotb and Andy Cohen. Late night band leader Paul Shaffer. And moguls Barry Diller, Donald Trump and Steve Forbes.

Identity of notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper finally unveiled

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Vital DNA evidence has finally uncovered the identity of notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper.

The man behind the grisly killing spree in London’s East End has been unveiled as Aaron Kosminkski, a 23-year-old Polish immigrant who ended up dying in an asylum.

A blood soaked shawl, purchased by author Russell Edwards, led to the breakthrough when a scientist matched DNA evidence left on it to descendants of Kosminski.

Mr Edwards, 48, from Barnet, north London, was "captivated" by the murder mystery and had been investigating it in his spare time, but had come to the conclusion it could never be solved.

2 new Meghan Trainor’s songs: 'Title' and 'Dear Future Husband'

We're all about Meghan's new song!

On her breakout single, “All About That Bass,” Meghan Trainor empowered girls to love their bodies. Now, on her new song “Title” — premiered exclusively Friday (September 5) on — the sassy newcomer is teaching the ladies not to settle for being friends-with-benefits.

The 20-year-old sings about being fed up with a guy who won’t stop referring to her as just a friend before giving him one serious ultimatum: Either give me the girlfriend title or kiss my ass. You tell him, girl.

“Baby don’t call me a friend/ If I hear that word again/ You might never get a chance to see me naked in your bed/ And I know girls ain’t hard to find/ If you think you want to try/ Then consider this an invitation to kiss my ass goodbye,” she sings.

The song takes an infectious beat and gives it a throwback vibe, with Meghan even showing off some impressive rapping skills. The new track follows “All About That Bass,” which is currently holding the #2 spot on Billboard‘s Hot 100.

Liu Wen, the First Asian Spokesmodel for Estée Lauder, Writes About Changing Beauty Ideals

Beautiful. It’s one of those rare words that describes itself. In Mandarin Chinese, there are two common expressions that capture its meaning: “美丽” (Mei li) or its more informal counterpart,“漂亮” (Piao liang). Both inspire happiness but also invite controversy, for their meanings can be simultaneously vast and narrow. Since childhood, I have traversed back and forth across these meanings as I worked to find this word’s definition within my own life.

Growing up in southern China, people in my hometown seldom called me piao liang, because my smaller eyes were a far cry from the wide irises of the most beloved television actresses. Further, I was tall and awkward and tended to dress more androgynously as comfort was always my priority. Towering over classmates, I developed a habit of bending down when speaking to others, as if my back was permanently hunched. Many called me “Mulan,” since I always blended in with the male students much more easily than the female students. Since she was such an honorable and respected character in our culture, I accepted the association quite happily—even if being outwardly “beautiful” was never in my destiny, I at least wanted to personify her confidence.

TIFF round-up of 'Shelter', dir. Paul Bettany, starring Jennifer Connelly & Anthony Mackie

 photo 1header_zps3e4c7dec.jpg

(Rather spoiler-y review ahead, so stick to the first paragraph (above the cut) only if you don't want to be told what seems to be most of the plot.)

A story of love and survival set in places where the homeless seek refuge in New York City, Shelter throws Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Mackie together as two very different kinds of people who come to rely on each other. The directing debut of Connelly's husband, actor Paul Bettany, the picture will sound to jaded observers like a project designed to win the actress another Oscar, especially after one hears how she has transformed her body physically, in the manner of so many awardees before her. But Shelter plays like something more sincere, an empathetic if imperfect attempt to imagine life on the streets and find a specific story there. Two thoroughly convincing performances carry the film, which despite some truly rough images will play well with audiences looking for serious fare.

Atlanta Hawks owner Bruce Levenson to sell team after racist email

For Atlanta Hawks controlling owner Bruce Levenson, "a light bulb went off."

In a 2012 email addressing the troubles the franchise faced in attracting more affluent white season-ticket holders, Levenson said he had taken a look around Philips Arena and noticed a few things.

First, the audience was 70% black, he wrote. But that wasn't all. The stadium's bars were 90% black. There were few fathers and sons at the games. The cheerleaders were black. The music played in the arena was hip-hop, and the after-game concerts were either rap or gospel acts.

"Then i start looking around at other arenas. It is completely different. Even (Washington) DC with its affluent black community never has more than 15 pct black audience," he wrote.

Now, he's losing his franchise because of the email.

Is a Patronus Test Coming to Pottermore?

You’ve already gotten your wand and been sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses. So what else could you learn about your wizarding self in the online Pottermore game? How about finding out the form of your Patronus?

There’s nothing official yet, but author JK Rowling hinted at the idea while answering a slew of fan questions on Twitter today.

For those of you who aren’t huge Potter fans or who haven’t yet made it to Prisoner of Azkaban, the Patronus Charm is conjured to battle a Dementor, a creature who feeds off of human happiness by sucking it out of them, and leaving the person feeling nothing but sadness and depression. When a corporeal Patronus is cast it takes the form of an animal, based on the personality of the person casting it. Harry’s is a stag, Hermione’s an otter, and Ron’s Patronus is a dog (specifically, a Jack Russel Terrier).

Since there’s no information on a Patronus test so far, there’s no way to know how Pottermore would go about choosing your Patronus’ form, or how many options there would be. But if it’s anything like the wand and Sorting tests, we could be looking at another questionnaire of choices based on our ambitions, fears, and personal preferences.

Would you like to know your official Patronus? What do you think it would be?

NEW YORK -- Serena Williams ended a difficult-for-her Grand Slam season in the best way possible, winning her third consecutive U.S. Open title by beating Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 6-3 on Sunday.

Williams equaled Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova with 18 major singles titles, the fourth-most in history. Williams also matched Evert's total of six championships at the U.S. Open and became the first woman to win three in a row since Evert's four-title run from 1975-78.

**Obvious book (and show eps 1-9) spoilers herein. Read at your own caution prior to watching the season finale tonight or else avert your eyes & just skip to the comments! -OP**

HBO’s dark and intriguing series The Leftovers will air its Season 1 finale Sunday night and, to be honest, I’m assuming it’s going to be a depressing one. In recent episodes we’ve seen the Garvey family and the rest of the residents of Mapleton, NY have their fair share of terrible moments. From the Guilty Remnant’s Patti committing suicide to a flashback showing that not only did Laurie’s pregnant fetus disappeared during the Departure, but Kevin was having an affair. Honestly, could things get any worse? Yes, they probably can and will. But how do we know what will happen? The series was created based on a book of the same name by Tom Perotta and while The Leftovers has several differences from the book, there are still quite a few similarities. So what does the ending of the novel mean for the Season 1 finale of the series? If Perrotta’s novel is any indication (and it might not be), there will be some major changes and something of a fresh start.Collapse )

New trailer for GLORIA, the movie about actual trash and allegedly bb killer Gloria Trevi

The fame and scandals of Gloria Trevi inspired a movie based on his life that has generated much expectation, after the singer disallow the tape.

However, the film is about to release on October 30 and Universal and launched a controversial new trailer.

In it, we see the moment Trevi met Andrade. His arrival at successful program Siempre en Domingo and its rapid rise to fame throughout Latin America.

But dreams of Gloria tarnish when the news about the "Clan Trevi Andrade" began to point it out. Thus, progress also shows shouts and abuse and when the singer of "Zapatos Viejos" was arrested for justice.

"You'll never be able to write a song without me," says Andrade at the end of the trailer, which also emphasizes "Fame is insanity."

Directed by Swedish Christian Keller, the film features performances after leading Sofia Espinosa (The Girl in the Stone) as Gloria Trevi and Marco Perez in the role of Sergio Andrade.

TIFF 2014: Bald prince Corey Stoll and some nobody talk 'This Is Where I Leave You'

Before Adam Driver and Corey Stoll enter the room to promote the star-filled family comedy-drama This Is Where I Leave You, a studio rep warms a table of journalists they’re allowed one Star Wars question.

“If Yellowjacket fought a Sith Lord, who would win?” I suggest.

Driver – who’s currently shooting J.J. Abrams new Star Wars reboot (and reputedly is a Darth Vaderish Sith), looks quizzically at Stoll. “Yellowjacket is the character I play in Ant-Man,” he tells him.

No bites. Fine. We’ll save the serious question for later.
