TV - The Borgias

BAFTA-winning ginger love of my life eyed for "Mission: Impossible 5" villain role

Director Christopher McQuarrie and star Tom Cruise are already shooting Mission: Impossible 5, but the film has yet to finalize the cast for its antagonist. At the moment, Paramount and Skydance are offering the bad guy role to Sean Harris, known for Prometheus, The Borgias, and other films such as the Red Riding series. We don’t know much about the new film, much less the Mission: Impossible 5 villain, but Deadline reports that talks are ongoing, but the deal isn’t set.

Along with Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames are back for M:I5, with Alec Baldwin, and Rebecca Ferguson of The White Queen taking new roles. We don’t know much at all about the script for the new film, other than that Will Staples was hired not long ago to re-write the script originally written by Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) [not a good sign imo].

Paramount has the film scheduled to open December 25, 2015.

Well, fuck me. I am a diehard stan and I NEVER thought I'd be posting about him here, but here we are. I'm torn -- it'd totally fun, but these movies are huge and I cannot imagine how the press tour would go. My darling is not exactly an interview guy. But who knows.

Arsenal release hilarious video to tackle homophobia in football

BwyRvEcCIAAYBwn

Arsenal have released a hilarious video to tackle homophobia in the game.

Teaming up with betting company Paddy Power to support Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign, the short video features the Gunners' players Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud, Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Alx Oxlade-Chamberlain all describing things that they cannot change about themselves.

In Walcott's case, it is that he is a dead ringer for Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton, Cazorla can't change his (lack of) height, and Oxlade-Chamberlain, well he can't change that he looks just like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

Aviva Drescher Fired From RHONY!

Aviva-Drescher-548x420

Not even the leg toss could save her! Aviva Drescher has been fired from The Real Housewives of New York City after two seasons on the show, a source confirms to Us Weekly.

Drescher, 45, an author, amputee and married mother of four, will be best remembered for her leg-throwing incident at Manhattan restaurant Le Cirque in the season six finale of RHONY, which aired in July. The surprising confrontation occurred when Drescher's six castmates accused her of lying and faking her illnesses to beg out of several cast trips to Montana, Saratoga Springs, NY, and elsewhere.

Al Pacino Talks About Depression

fhb

Actor Al Pacino has recently shared his thoughts about depression, and talked Hollywood politics at the 2014 Venice Film Festival. Pacino was promoting two movies at the time reporters got to him, Manglehorn and The Humbling. In The Humbling, which has received good reviews, Pacino plays an aging actor that has a brief, but poignant affair with a younger lady, portrayed by Greta Gerwig. He expressed what initially attracted him to the role, was the stark contrast between his character’s “tragic moments”, and “nice moments of comedy” said the 74-year-old actor.

He continues, “My character gets older and finds that the intimacies he’s had for his desired work in the past, are starting to fade, so he attempts to make up for that feeling and begins to drift into a sort of madness…confusion really. And then he slowly falls into a depression, which is used in a kind of way, and expresses itself through his work.” When asked by festival journalists, of what he himself thought about depression, he answered, “I could be depressed, although I don’t think that I’d really know if I was. Some folks can go into a deep depression, and that can be really, really sad. And if it lasts, well, then that can be downright terrifying. I’m familiar with that. I can remember having bouts with issues that came very close to that, although with not as much intensity. I can say, or you could say that I’m lucky,” he added.

Amazing Spider-Man 3 Spoilers: _____ Returns In Third Movie Rumored As 'Clone Saga' Plot Pitched By Sony! Miles Morales As The Next Spidey After Peter Parker?

Collapse )

miles_morales_spider-man_02

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Peter Parker will no longer be Spider-Man after third film.
Comic Book Resources have asked him if Miles Morales a.k.a. The Ultimate Spider-Man will show up in the Amazing Spider-Man universe. Here's what Garfield had to say:

"I have given that thought. I think one of the amazing things about Spider-Man is that you don't see skin color when he's in the suit. You don't see any religious beliefs. You don't see any denominations. Everyone can project themselves into that suit. It's incredibly powerful in that way. So of course I think it's important that the openness, the casting, in terms of who could be Spider-Man, could be absolutely anyone. A hero is a hero, whether you're a man, woman, gay, lesbian, straight, black, white or red all over - it doesn't matter."
"Miles Morales was a huge moment in this character's comic book life. And I do believe that we can do that. It's something I'm really interested in figuring out; an eloquent way of coexisting, or passing on the torch. I don't have an answer, but I think it's actually a really important move. I think it's a really beautiful and important move."

In the Ulimate Marvel Comics, Miles Morales is a 13-year-old black Hispanic kid who also happened to get bitten by a genetically altered spider that gave Peter Parker his powers. He took on the mantle of Spider-Man in the Ultimate Universe after Peter Parker was killed. He has the same powers as Peter, but has a few tricks of his own like the ability to blend in with his surroundings and temporarily paralyze people with electric "venom strikes."
What do you think of the updates/spoilers for the Amazing Spider-Man 3?

Melissa Rivers kissed mom's casket ahead of cremation

image
Joan Rivers‘ daughter said a heartfelt last goodbye to the comedy legend — kissing her casket and biting back tears — moments before her mom’s body was transported to a New Jersey crematorium on Saturday.

Clutching her son’s shoulder, Melissa Rivers, bent over the mahogany casket for an emotional final farewell outside Frank E. Campbell funeral home on the Upper East Side.

She then turned to her young son, Cooper, and touched him tenderly on the cheek before the hearse pulled away.

image

A team of pallbearers had carried the coffin, which was adorned with flowers, to the hearse around 10 a.m.

About a half hour later, drivers unloaded the casket at the Garden State Crematory in Union City, where Rivers’ body will be cremated before her funeral Sunday at Temple Emanu-El on the Upper East Side.

The 81-year-old E! fashion critic died Thursday after she stopped breathing during a throat procedure last week.

Jake Gyllenhaal's Dramatic Weight Loss: My Mom Was Really Worried

image
Jake Gyllenhaal is getting high praise for his work in Nightcrawler. But I think we can all agree it wasn't his best look.

Gyllenhaal was a vision of skin and bones after losing a startling 30 pounds for his starring role as an underground crime-scene videographer.

When I caught up with him at the movie's premiere last night at the Toronto International Film Festival, I had to ask if his mom became worried—no mother wants to see her handsome young son wither away like that.

image

"You're the first person to ask that question and I'd say my mother was worried," Gyllenhaal said. "I would say she just wanted me to be careful. But she also knew and knows how seriously I take what I do and she respects that. "She knows that I'm a big boy and I could handle myself and that I would stay within the realm of being safe, but yes, she worried," he continued. "She'd be like, 'You're cranky—eat something.'"

Also at the premiere, which included a Grey Goose pre-party at Soho house, were Gyllenhall's co-stars Rene Russo and Riz Ahmed. "It's incredible what he put his body through," said Russo, whose husband Dan Gilroy wrote and directed the movie. "I actually was worried."

Joan Rivers is as stylish and sharp-tongued as ever in a New Yorker tribute cartoon!!!!

image
Joan Rivers is as stylish and sharp-tongued as ever in a New Yorker tribute cartoon, which depicts her in the afterlife.

The iconic no-holds barred comedienne and host of E!'s Fashion Police, who died on Thursday at age 81, a week after suffering complications from throat surgery, is pictured wearing dark sunglasses, a fur coat over a dark top and two necklaces as she leans her hand casually against a stand manned by who appears to be St. Peter, sporting angel wings and a halo while guarding the entrance to the gates of Heaven.

"If this is a sentimental cartoon tribute, I'm gonna vomit," she says in the cartoon, which was created by Benjamin Schwartz. The New Yorker is known for its satirical cartoons and related contests.

Rivers, who was born Jewish and whose religion does not recognize St. Peter, angels and the pictured, popular depiction of Heaven, is set to be memorialized in a funeral in a synagogue her native New York on Sunday.

Kei Nishikori beats Djokovic in US Open Semifinal; Makes History

Kei Nishikori of Japan fought off the heat and top-ranked Novak Djokovic to become the first Asian man to reach a Grand Slam final at the U.S. Open Saturday.

Nishikori, seeded 10th, upset the 2011 U.S. Open champion from Serbia 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in 2 hours and 51 minutes.

"It's just amazing, amazing feeling to beat the No. 1 player," said Nishikori in an on-court interview shortly after breaking Djokovic for the fifth time to close out the match.

In steamy conditions on Arthur Ashe Stadium, the 24-year-old Nishikori played bolder, more opportunistic tennis in his first Grand Slam semifinal.

In the first set, he dictated play from the backcourt and returned assertively while Djokovic, who was contesting his 24th semifinal, seemed oddly passive.

Djokovic, the reigning Wimbledon champion and seeking a fifth consecutive U.S. Open final, reasserted himself in the second set with more aggressive play as Nishikori, who spent more than 8½ hours on court in his last two matches, appeared to labor in the sticky heat.

But in the third set, Nishikori refused to wilt and despite blowing a chance to serve it out at 5-4 – including a double fault on break point – he stunned the flagging Djokovic to win the third in a tiebreaker and then cruised through the final set.

Nishikori, who left Japan at 13 to train at the IMG/Bollettieri Academy, this year hired 1989 French Open champion Michael Chang of the USA as a coach along with Dante Bottini.

"He's been helping me a lot, him and Dante communicate a lot," Nishikori said of Chang. "That's why I'm here."

The second men's semifinal between No. 2 Roger Federer of Switzerland and No. 14 seed Marin Cilic of Croatia was scheduled for later Saturday. Federer lost to Cilic 3-6 4-6 4-6.

Remember 6 (3) of Britney's best breakup jams!

2zoass5

Fresh off a breakup with a no-good, cheating boyfriend, Britney Spears Instagrammed a cute shot over the weekend of herself in the studio, alongside the caption, "Studio today! Yay!” This is a thrilling update from the world of Britney. She's currently still performing her hit show in Vegas, but fans haven't gotten new music since 2013's disappointing project Britney Jean, and many of us need some new tracks to mix into our "Britney Workout' playlist.

While Britney will always be beloved for her syrup-y voice, which provided a large portion of a soundtrack to the dance parties of our teens (and twenties, and thirties), it's a bit of a forgotten fact that some of her best music is the occasional breakup track, a sub-genre that was particularly on display in her earlier work. Her hitting up the studio immediately after a traumatic boyfriend breakup may be painful for her, but it's only a win for fans of her music.

Don't believe me? Reminisce below with six of her best breakup jams, and cross your fingers for more where this came from on her upcoming ninth studio album.

Kate Upton makes first public appearance since nude photo leak

1410014780_kate-upton-g

Not slowing her down! Kate Upton made her first red carpet appearance on Friday, Sept. 5., after finding herself in the middle of a celebrity phone hack late last month. The Sports Illustrated model put on a brave face as she attended The Daily Front Row's Fashion Media Awards at the Park Hyatt in NYC.

Upton, 22, looked slim in a white Emilio Pucci dress and silver Casadei shoes for the event. She kept her tousled blonde locks down to one side and accessorized with Bulgari jewelry.

As previously reported, Upton and other stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst, Kaley Cuoco, Selena Gomez and Lea Michele recently had nude images leaked online. Apple denied there was a breach of security with its iCloud program and the FBI continues to investigate the situation.

"This is obviously an outrageous violation of our client Kate Upton's privacy," Upton's attorney, Lawrence Shire, told Us Weekly in a statement on Sept. 1. "We intend to pursue anyone disseminating or duplicating these illegally obtained images to the fullest extent possible."

James Franco is Tattooed and Beautiful

Art and reality merged for James Franco at the 2014 Venice Film Festival on Friday when the actor walked a real red carpet at a real premiere for a real movie he really directed and starred in -- but did so in character, sporting a fake mustache, real shaved head and a fake head tattoo of Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift.

Inside the theater and before accepting the festival's real Glory to the Filmmaker 2014 prize, Franco got a little work done, shooting an award-show scene for the upcoming movie "Zeroville." A scene also set at the Venice Film Festival. The 1977 Venice Film Festival.

In "Zeroville," Franco portrays a film obsessive "so enamored with movies that they become religion to him," he explained to the Associated Press. The adaptation of the Steve Erickson novel follows the character Vikar -- that guy with the stars of "A Place in the Sun" inked on his noggin -- on his journey through 1970s and '80s Hollywood.

'The Knick' News: Interviews with two of the show's best + 1x05 promos

Andre Holland on ‘The Knick’
By FRED TOPEL

CraveOnline: John and Mark said Algernon was not based on the story Flowers for Algernon but did you think of that when you played the character?
Andre Holland:
You know, actually the thing that came to mind for me was Algernon in Oscar Wilde’s play. That’s the only other time I heard that name, but then I thought about Flowers for Algernon. I don’t know how they came up with the name but I don’t think they were trying to focus on anywhere in particular.

It seemed like by episode two, Algernon became very patient with discrimination.
Well, I don’t think he becomes patient with it, but I think he understands how big the task is. I think he understands this is not something that’s going to be solved in a day, so he starts finding subversive ways to get around it.

Does that translate into his bedside manner, where he’s better able to handle perhaps hostile patients?
That’s a good question. I don’t think so. I think that he’s a patient person by nature and I think he actually has good bedside manner, which I don’t think that Thackery does. Throughout the whole thing, it’s always a challenge because the patients, both black and white, are shocked at the fact that he’s actually a surgeon and it’s the first time for them seeing a black surgeon. I think they’re all a little bit scared of it. But, I think after dealing with the number of patients who are like that, he kind of begins to understand going into it that okay, they’re going to be a little freaked out. Maybe in episode six or seven he starts to say to patients, “Don’t be alarmed. I’m going to touch you.” Anyway, I think it just becomes a part of his life.
