East End Elegy: Kardashians killed the Hamptons & Kim Parties with Old Women

I suppose that to be a romantic is to know, as the chanteuse Lana Del Rey put it, that we are born to die. But some deaths are graceful, while others are gruesome. The Hamptons suffered from the latter kind on June 2, 2014, when the Kardashian clan opened its Dash boutique in Southampton. The fall will bring Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons, the latest of the family’s surreal reality shows, which have become fine, if inadvertent, advertisements against plastic surgery. The apocalypse will reportedly commence shortly thereafter.

Ashton Kutcher's ‘Butterfly Effect’ Producers Sued by Benderspink Over Profits

Production company Benderspink filed a lawsuit on Thursday claiming it is owed profit shares from the 2004 Ashton Kutcher thriller, The Butterfly Effect.

Named in the lawsuit that was filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court were FilmEngine, Highwire, Roulette and Rhulen, which are described as "interrelated film production companies."

The complaint claims that in 2003, Benderspink — which is run by Chris Bender and J.C. Spink — and FilmEngine entered into a written memorandum to produce the sci-fi drama, that also starred Amy Smart and Eric Stoltz.

Djokovic wins Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic ended his Grand Slam drought and Roger Federer's hopes of a record eighth Wimbledon title with a thrilling five-set victory.

The Serb, 27, came through 6-7 (7-9) 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 5-7 6-4 to win his second Wimbledon and seventh Grand Slam title.

After letting a championship point slip in the fourth set, he won Wimbledon's first five-set final since 2009.

Djokovic had lost his previous three major finals, and will now reclaim the number one ranking from Rafael Nadal.

Federer, 32, had hoped to surpass Pete Sampras with an eighth title and become the oldest winner in modern times.

The Swiss was willed on by much of the 15,000-strong crowd throughout the final, with chants of "Roger! Roger!" ringing around Centre Court when he came back from 5-2 down in the fourth set.

But Djokovic recovered his nerve to fend off break points in the decider and clinch a dramatic win after three hours and 56 minutes, before kneeling on the turf and eating some grass - just as he had done after winning in 2011.

He then headed into the stands to celebrate with his team, including three-time Wimbledon champion Boris Becker, brought in by Djokovic at the start of the year to help end his run of 18 months without a major win.

BBC Confirms and Draws Attention to Leaked Doctor Who Scripts

BBC Worldwide has apologised to Doctor Who fans after five scripts from the upcoming eighth series have been leaked online.

The Corporation’s commercial arm BBC Worldwide issued a statement to RadioTimes.com pleading for the public not to share the material after the first five scripts of the new series, which will begin broadcasting on August 23, surfaced online. They are the opening feature length episode Deep Breath by Steven Moffat as well as four others.

RadioTimes.com has seen the scripts and knows the titles but will not be making them public.

The statement read: “BBC Worldwide is currently investigating a security issue around Doctor Who Series 8 where unfinished material has inadvertently been made public. We deeply regret this and apologise to all the show's fans, the BBC and the cast and crew who have worked tirelessly making the series.

“We would like to make a plea to anyone who might have any of this material and spoilers associated with it not to share it with a wider audience so that everyone can enjoy the show as it should be seen when it launches. We know only too well that Doctor Who fans are the best in the world and we thank them for their help with this and their continued loyalty."

The scripts are understood to have been disseminated online after being sent to the BBC Worldwide’s newly opened Latin America headquarters in Miami for translation.

“The opening episode is being simulcast globally so of course translations have to be prepared in advance,” said a BBC source.

Deep Breath, the feature-length premiere episode of the eighth series, will air on BBC1 on Saturday August 23.

However fans are being given a chance to catch the first glimpse of Capaldi’s debut on the show at a Cardiff premiere on August 7, weeks before it arrives on TV. The lunchtime event will be held at St David’s Hall in the city and will kickstart the drama’s publicity world tour.

LMAOOOOO When will the BBC learn that the best way to deal with leaks is to just ignore them? By acknowledging them, they bring it to the attention of people who might not have known about it and they also verify the leaks as real whereas before people might think it's a hoax.

Has anyone here read the leaked scripts? I haven't felt like putting in the effort to read it, but everything I've heard from people who have read the scripts make it sound terrible.

Miley's NBC Special FLOPS!

Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz Tour" special draws an abysmal rating for NBC Sunday night.
Tour specials and artist profiles often struggle to draw ratings on network television, but few perform as badly as NBC’s Miley Cyrus feature did Sunday night.
Entitled “Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour,” Sunday’s two-hour spotlight drew a mere 1.4 overnight household rating. Adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers will not be available till around 12PM ET, but they will surely look as bleak as the overnight household number.
The special kicked off with a 1.7 from 9-9:30PM before dropping to a 1.5, 1.3 and 1.3 in its subsequent half hours.
While Cyrus has drawn on network television before–her initial “Two and a Half Men” guest turn performed well for CBS–she was glaringly unable to move the needle for the special look at her racy “Bangerz Tour.”

One Direction Get Wet And Wild In Pouring Rain On Stage In Italy

It seems most of the boy band weren't prepared for the sudden downfall as Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson were clad in t-shirts with Zayn Malik the only sensible member keeping warm in a leather jacket.

Refusing to disappoint their fans and act like divas, the lads carried on like pros and belted out their hits much to the delight of fans who smiled through the horrible weather. Even better, it looks as though all of the boys managed to avoid the danger of slipping on the wet stage!

Although they should be used to poor weather back home in the UK and Ireland, 1D admit they were shocked after getting drenched in the rain with Niall tweeting: “I don't think I've witnessed rain like that in years ! Jesus we got a right soaking ! Unbelievable scenes.”

Harry also chimed in: “Thank you for having us Turin. You were very loud, We were very wet. Hope you had fun. Ciao .x. Sooooo... The weather?”

Mia Wasikowska interviewed by Glenn Close for Interview Magazine, August 2014

As Charlotte Brontë's famous governess in Cary Joji Fukunaga's adaptation of Jane Eyre (2011), Mia Wasikowska is so ethereal as to seem almost translucent. But if we feel we can look through her and see clearly what she's feeling, her thoughts remain closed off from us, hidden behind dark, still eyes. It is no surprise, then, when Edward Rochester, played by Michael Fassbender, asks, mystified, "Do you never laugh, Miss Eyre?" They sit by a fire, but Wasikowska's Eyre seems to receive no warmth from it. "I can see in you the glance of a curious sort of bird through the close-set bars of a cage," Rochester says, "a vivid, restless, captive; were it but free, it would soar cloud-high."

In her brief but brilliant career, Wasikowska, now 24, has played a variety of gothic heroines, both classic and contemporary—restless captives all, and all of them trying to break free. Her Alice in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (2010) is a chaste teen fleeing the call of adulthood for fantasy—she is a cinematic sibling to Wasikowska's teen vampire Ava in Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive, a lusty immortal trapped in perpetual adolescence and the existential crisis that comes with it. But even as the budding daughter to two moms in The Kids Are All Right (2010), Wasikowska isn't only an angsty teen. No matter how caged her birds may be, they never lack the agency to determine their own lives. As the fire-scarred young woman in this September's feverish Hollywood satire Maps to the Stars, written by Bruce Wagner and directed by David Cronenberg, Wasikowska's seemingly captive character throws down her shackles to wreak some serious havoc. She may play the restless prisoner well, but she does psychological terror unleashed even better. Which makes her casting as the ultimate tragic captive, Emma Bovary, in an upcoming adaptation of Flaubert's classic novel a kind of poetic justice.

Wasikowska recently returned to her native Australia to film this September's Tracks, John Curran's film based on Robyn Davidson's memoir of her 1,700-mile walk across the continent. But Wasikowska's own trek through the outback was less like a walkabout and more like a return to her roots. As she tells her Albert Nobbs (2011) co-star Glenn Close, the experience of making that movie brought to a close the restlessness and rootlessness she had been feeling. These days Wasikowska is feeling right at home.

Football loses another great: Alfredo di Stéfano dies at 88

Alfredo Di Stéfano, the legendary Argentinian football player and honorary Real Madrid President, has passed away aged 88.

Argentina-born Di Stéfano had been kept in an induced coma at the Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid, Spain after having been resuscitated on a Madrid street by paramedics following a heart attack on Saturday.

Di Stéfano, a diabetic, underwent a quadruple aorta-coronary bypass with a pacemaker implanted in December 2005 after suffering a myocardial infarction. He had also been hospitalised several times in recent years to monitor his heart condition and was often seen in a wheelchair in public.

According to reports in Spain, Di Stéfano was on a street close to the Bernabeu when he had the heart attack - a day after his 88th birthday. The hospital said the emergency services were able to stabilise him.

The news of his death was confirmed by Real on Monday.

A club statement read: "Real Madrid extends its condolences to madridistas all over the world and to those who feel the loss of the best player of all time."

Dubbed "La Saeta Rubia" ("The Blond Arrow") for his speed, Di Stefano helped Madrid win five straight European Cups from 1956-60, and eight Spanish league titles. He was voted European player of the year in 1957 and 1959.

He retired at the age of 40 in 1966, ending a 22-year playing career in which he had also represented Colombia and Spain at international level.

Tributes came in from several Spanish and international clubs and players all over the world following the news of his death.

SimGuru Tries to Convince You that Sims 4 Is Not a Mess

Hello Simmers,

We’re less than 60 days out from the launch of The Sims™ 4, and I have so much I want to talk about. But let me start with a bit more about the decision we made not to include pools and toddlers in The Sims 4, as we’ve seen some of you have concerns about this.

The fact is, we owe you a clearer explanation for why pools and toddlers will not be in The Sims 4 at launch, so here goes. It begins with new technology and systems that we built for this new base game for The Sims – a new AI system, new animation system, new audio positioning tools, new locomotion logic, new routing intelligence and much more are all entirely new in this game. The vision for The Sims 4 is a new experience that brings your Sims to life in deeper and uniquely personal ways – through emotions, personality traits, behaviors and interactions. To do that, our technology base needed a major upgrade.

So the bottom line is that when we sat down and looked at everything we wanted to do for this game, all the new tech we wanted to build into it, the fact was that there would be trade-offs, and these would disappoint some of our fans. Hard pill to swallow, believe me, but delivering on the vision set out for The Sims 4 required focus. Focus on revolutionizing the Sims themselves. So, rather than include toddlers, we chose to go deeper on the features that make Sims come alive: meaningful and often amusing emotions; more believable motion and interactions; more tools in Create A Sim, and more realistic (and sometimes weird!) Sim behavior. Instead of pools, we chose to develop key new features in Build Mode: direct manipulation, building a house room-by-room and being able to exchange your custom rooms easily, to make the immediate environment even more relatable and interactive for your Sim.

New International Trailer For 'Clouds Of Sils Maria.

A new trailer for Olivier Assayas' "Clouds of Sils Maria," the drama that first premiered at Cannes earlier this summer, has been released. The film stars Juliette Binoche, Kristen Stewart and Chloe Moretz as three women who struggle with the fleeting quality of the entertainment industry.

The drama follows the relationship between Juliette Binoche's character Maria Enders, a fading actress, her assistant, played by Kristen Stewart, and an up-and-coming actress (Moretz) who is playing the role that originally got Enders started.

The trailer gives us a glimpse at the tense drama, which explores the dirty ins and outs of the industry. IFC will distribute, but a U.S. release date has yet to be announced.

What Do the Models with Bruised Knees In Manuel Bolaño’s Show Mean?

Spanish designer Manuel Bolaño showed his latest collection “The Boy With Sad Eyes” in Barcelona late last week, and aside from the #healthgoth mix of the designs’ dark sportiness, one thing that stood out was all of the model’s overly-bruised knees.

Bolaño’s description of the line talks about wounded emotions:

“Let’s talk about the first kiss, hidden from the world, in a corner. Tell me what you think of my life, of my adolescence. In a corner I treat my wounds, and my tears will be lost in the rain. I extend my hand, seeking to touch you, leaving the world, cleansing my body of your scent, like an idiot searching for lost rites. I’m going mad, everything tortures me, but I know how to love. My soul was pure.”

Kanye West Reacts To Wireless Boos: 'The Media Twist Everything'

Update From The Movie That Keeps On Giving: Ant-Man Gets Another Pair Of Writers to Rewrite Script

So, do you want to know just how far away from Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish's vision for "Ant-Man" Marvel wants to move from? Well, creative differences already bounced Wright from helming the film, the script got a punch up by Adam McKay, and Peyton Reed is now directing. But apparently, that's not all.

According to Latino Review, Gabriel Ferrari and Andrew Barrer have been hired on to rewrite the script, while also serving as production writers during the shoot (which is not unusual for Hollywood blockbusters). It's not clear how the final credits on this thing will work out—the WGA will eventually sort that—but the pair have turned heads with their "Die In A Gunfight" script, which landed on the Black List a few years ago, and they are also involved with the "Sabrina The Teenage Witch" remake which is ... something...

Meanwhile, an update on a very, very old rumor: Jon Hamm will not be playing Doctor Strange. First reported by This Is Infamous, they now say Hamm is out and Kevin Feige is looking at someone else. So, as you were....

"Ant-Man" arrives on July 17, 2015.

Emma Watson: UN Women Goodwill Ambassador

UN Women, the United Nations organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, today announced the appointment of British Actress, Emma Watson, as Goodwill Ambassador.

Best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the ‘Harry Potter’ film series, the accomplished actress, humanitarian, and recent graduate of Ivy League institution, Brown University, will dedicate her efforts as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador towards the empowerment of young women and will serve as an advocate for UN Women’s HeForShe campaign in promoting gender equality.

“We are thrilled and honored to work with Emma, whom we believe embodies the values of UN Women,” stated Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director, UN Women. “The engagement of young people is critical for the advancement of gender equality in the 21st century, and I am convinced that Emma’s intellect and passion will enable UN Women’s messages to reach the hearts and minds of young people globally,” added Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka.

Ms. Watson has been involved in the promotion of girls' education for several years, and previously visited Bangladesh and Zambia as part of her humanitarian efforts.

"Being asked to serve as UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador is truly humbling. The chance to make a real difference is not an opportunity that everyone is given and is one I have no intention of taking lightly. Women’s rights are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life that I can’t imagine an opportunity more exciting. I still have so much to learn, but as I progress I hope to bring more of my individual knowledge, experience and awareness to this role,” said Ms. Watson.

Ms. Watson is the first Goodwill Ambassador appointment under Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka’s leadership.

Yankees fan caught sleeping on TV sues ESPN, MLB for $10 million

A New York man who was caught sleeping at a recent Yankees game against the Red Sox on ESPN is filing a $10 million defamation suit against broadcasters Dan Shulman and John Kruk for their "avalanche of disparaging words," according to the New York Post.

Andrew Robert Rector admitted that he "briefly slept" while in attending the April 13 game between the A.L. East rivals, and when ESPN cameras caught him sleeping during the fourth inning, the Sunday Night Baseball announcers launched into what he described as an "unending verbal crusade" against him, with their "vituperative utterances" redistributed on the MLB website the following day.

A YouTube video uploaded by MLB is titled "Fan sleeps in stands during game vs. Red Sox."

According to the report, Rector's suit was riddled with typos and improper grammar, claiming the broadcasters insinuated that he "is a fatty cow that need two seats at a time" and "is a confused individual that neither understands nor knows anything about history or the meaning of rivalry between Red Sox and Yankees."

ESPN, MLB and the Yankees are named as defendants in the suit.

Common Admits Drake Beef Was Over Serena

A few years later, Common states what was obvious to most.

Towards the end of 2011, Drake and Common were engaged in somewhat of a “rift” that found the two rappers throwing shots at each other in the middle of their respective album rollouts, and the “beef” lasted into the new year, in which Drizzy and the Chicago vet tossed more lyrical darts at each other over Rick Ross‘ “Stay Schemin’” record–Drake appeared on the original, Common remixed it.

At the time of the dispute, which, thankfully and as expected, remained an on-wax battle, all indications were that the two rappers were at odds because of their individual relationships with star athlete Serena Williams, with whom Common had previously been romantically involved. Earlier, in an interview with VladTV, Common, who was seldom heard from at the time of the “battle”, finally speaks a little bit on what that was all about.

At that time, I think it was the Drake-Serena situation. I didn’t know what was going on with that. And I ain’t know if he was throwing shots at me. [Serena] my ex and we’re going our separate ways. So unfortunately the war might have been over a girl but at the time I never said that. It wasn’t totally that. It was more of do you respect me? Cause I actually like you as an artist.

For the record, Drake used to tweet Common’s raps. We knew it wasn’t that deep, Com.

Dakota Fanning: I Was An Exceptionally Mature Child

Dakota Fanning was just five years old and living with her parents and one-year-old sister in the small town of Conyers, Georgia, when, as she tells it, she and her mother had a heart-to-heart regarding her proto–movie star career trajectory. In the end they came to what she describes as a mutual decision: to move from their home, 20 miles southeast of Atlanta—where they were part of an athletic extended clan, and practicing Southern Baptists—to Los Angeles, where the only things anybody worships are fame and box office loot. There she would see if she could build on the success she had had being standout cute in community theater.

Which might sound a bit implausible if it weren't coming from Fanning, who is a lively, confident, and apparently quite undamaged 20-year-old woman, despite growing up on the big and small screens. What five-year-old is that methodical in pursuing her ambitions? Surely her parents pushed her to perform, at least subliminally? Her mother Joy is a former professional tennis player who majored in fashion merchandising and who, by Dakota's own accounting, gave up everything for her daughter. Her father Steven is a former minor league baseball player. So, at least from afar, they seem to fit the bill of the cliché of living vicariously through their children, for there are two stars in the family: Dakota and her fashion plate younger sister, Elle (who is appearing in Maleficent this summer).

But no, Dakota insists, a bit impatiently, it was all basically her idea. "It's hard to explain to someone who didn't know me as a child," she says, looking me right in the eye. "But even before I started working—when I was two, three, four, five—I was an exceptionally mature child. I just was. And my mom and I were able to have conversations like, 'Do you want to go to California and go to auditions for commercials and TV shows? Is that something you want to do?' And I was like, 'Yeah, let's give it a try.'"

Rosie O'Donnell is currently in "active negotiations" with "The View" to come back to the program ... sources in connection with Rosie and the production tell TMZ.

We're told Rosie's people are discussing money and other terms with execs from the beleaguered show. She's definitely interested in coming back if the money is right, and we're told the negotiations are far along.

We're told the deal could be sealed shortly and the announcement could be made as early as tomorrow.

Rosie would be joining Whoopi Goldberg and that's about it so far. The show is actively looking for replacements for Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy.

Shameless' Emmy Rossum Holds in Her Farts for #Merica, Noel Fisher Leaks Title of S.5, Ep 1

She is a born and bred New Yorker. And Emmy Rossum proudly displayed her patriotism on America's birthday.

The 27-year-old posed in a red, white and blue striped T-shirt in an Instagram picture, before showing off her bikini figure in a throwback snap posted Friday, on the 4th of July.

In the first picture, Emmy is seen leaning against a garage door, displaying her toned legs in white cutoff shorts paired with sleeveless white and red striped top with the word USA written on the front.

She gave a further nod to the holiday in red trainers, and shielded her eyes with large sunglasses.

The Shameless star wore her brown hair loose and straight as she read a copy of the New York Times.

'What's more American than reading The New York Times, wearing red white and blue, and holding in your farts? #ItWasTheDog #HoldingItInForAmerica #july4 #NoFartsOnThe4th,' she cheekily wrote in the caption.
