The App Secret.ly Lets You Make Your Own Secrets Seen Only In Private Groups

The people of Secret announced a new feature of their mobile app today. In a blog post on Secret’s Medium.com blog, the addition of secret groups known as “Secret Dens” was explained. These groups allow for individuals of business organizations, universities, and other communities to post their secrets to their own private groups. Members will still remain anonymous, but the pool of individuals involved will clearly be smaller, and thus truth-tellers more likely to be found out by counterparts.

The infamous secret and gossip-sharing app has been catching on over the last few months, offering a drama-filled hub for catty and cut-throat tech sector employees, a sex-starved LGBT community, and your average lonely and depressed PostSecret types (Note: This is an author’s opinion from general personal use the last few months in Washington DC).Collapse )

Toby, the Baby from Labyrinth, Grows Up to Be a Goblin King

Toby Froud is the most famous baby in cinema—on par with the naked boy on Nirvana’s Nevermind as the world’s most famous baby, period.

He played the baby in the striped onesie, also known as “the babe with the power,” in the cult-classic Jim Henson fantasy Labyrinth, where he’s kidnapped by the goblin king (David Bowie, in the most fantastical mullet and tights so tight they must require magic to get into). As you no doubt know, the rest of the movie follows his sister (a young Jennifer Connelly, who beat out Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Jessica Parker, Marisa Tomei, and Ally Sheedy for the role) as she journeys through an enchanted maze of goblins, faeries, and talking dogs who ride dogs to rescue him. Meanwhile, Bowie tosses Toby about and sings “You remind me of a babe.” Not exactly the kind of life I'd give up for a boring crib in the real world, but I digress.

Turns out Toby is the son of Brian Froud, who designed the characters and worlds of both Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal, as well as the faerie and goblin art that reigns supreme for lovers of the genre.

Now 30, Toby is a puppeteer in his own right. For the last four years, he’s fabricated puppets for Laika, working on ParaNorman and the upcoming Boxtrolls.

How much have things changed? How much have things stayed the same? Portia De Rossi Reportedly Jealous Of Ellen’s Relationship With Sofia Vergara

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are putting on a good face in public, but behind the scenes, divorce rumors are kicking up amid reports that Portia is jealous of her wife’s close relationship with Sofia Vergara.

The couple was spotted this week walking hand-in-hand through the New York City streets, the picture of a perfect marriage. But, as they put on a good public face, Ellen and Portia have reportedly been fighting over everything from Ellen’s controlling ways to Portia’s desire for a baby.

The latest reports center on Ellen’s friendship with Sofia Vergara, who is a frequent guest on her talk show. A source told OK! Magazine that their friendship has grown even closer since Sofia broke off her engagement to businessman Nick Loeb.

“Portia always resented Ellen’s friendship with Sofia, and now that Sofia is leaning on Ellen for support, she’s even more jealous,” the source said.

Diego Luna Condemns Homophobic Slurs During World Cup Matches

Mexican actor and producer Diego Luna says it is regrettable that homophobic terms like "puto," a common cry heard at Mexico's soccer stadiums, are used to insult players during the games.

The word "puto" in Mexico is a derogatory term for gays.

"I went to the (2006) World Cup in Germany and I did hear" that cry, the actor said.

He added that "I never joined in, it wasn't something I could be proud of."

Luna was asked in an interview on MVS radio about the fact that some Mexican soccer fans yelled "puto" at the goalkeepers of Cameroon and Brazil during Mexico's first two round-robin matches at this year's World Cup, currently being contested in the South American country.

Why Does Showtime Run Their Shows Into the Ground?

When "Homeland" took home the Emmy for outstanding drama series in 2012, it was a landmark award for Showtime, marking the first time the premium network had received the award. And it seemed that the network was on its way to being in the same stratosphere of high quality cable shows that HBO had been in for over a decade and AMC had recently invaded with "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad."
We know how that turned out, though: "Homeland" ended its Emmy streak at one, and its second and third seasons were considered to be a mess compared to the taut and dramatic first season. This was due in part to Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) still kicking around -- because the execs at Showtime couldn't leave well enough alone.
One thing that's evident is that Showtime wants to be just like its premium rival up the cable dial: They develop high-concept shows and recruit big-time actors to star in them. A network with lesser ambitions wouldn't have gotten Don Cheadle to star in "House of Lies," Laura Linney to get cancer in "The Big C," or have Matt LeBlanc play a douchey version of himself in "Episodes.
The reality, though, is that Showtime is a freakish hybrid of HBO and a standard broadcast network, one that has a penchant for keeping its hit shows on for far too long, giving creative advice that hobbles other shows and not putting enough promotion behind shows that could use it.
Take the example of "Nurse Jackie," which ends its sixth season on June 29th. Oh, you didn't realize that the show was still on? Well, it is -- in fact, the network announced a renewal for a seventh season not long after the six season began. You'd be forgiven, though, to think that the show ended long ago, mainly because it felt like it came to a natural end somewhere around the end of Season 3, when the lies and deviousness used by Jackie Peyton (Edie Falco) to cover up her addiction to painkillers were exposed. Or maybe that natural ending came at the end of Season 4, when Jackie went through rehab and struck up both a romance with her boss (Bobby Cannavale) and a co-dependent relationship with his son (Jake Cannavale).
But the show pressed on beyond those points, showing Jackie plow through a year of sobriety while negotiating custody terms with her ex-husband Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) and dealing with the increasing rebelliousness of her teen daughter Grace (Ruby Jerins). Jackie dealt with that along with all the stresses of working in the All Saints Hospital emergency room -- and by the end of the season, it seems like everything is right with Jackie's world, as she's engaged to nice-guy cop Frank (Adam Ferrara), her new family life is settling down and work is doing well.
But in the last scene of the season, we see her pop an oxycontin capsule she had stored in her engagement ring box "just in case"... and the deceit began anew.

You're the Best Around: The Greatest Movie Anthems of the '80s

Thirty years ago, the world fell in love with an upbeat empowerment ballad called “You’re the Best Around.” Like most ’80s movie anthems, “Best” is a song you can’t listen to without immediately thinking of the film or scene it accompanied – in this case, the teen martial arts classic The Karate Kid and its climactic tournament montage. The ’80s was a decade full of movie-song symbiosis, with tracks that may have only been modest hits (if that) but achieved immortality by creating perfect harmony with films. Here are 15 ’80s songs that transport us back to some of our favorite ’80s movie moments.

PETA's Pissed At Lady Gaga For Doing This To Her Dog

Given her penchant for draping herself in raw steak and accessorizing with taxidermied animals, it's safe to assume that Lady Gaga isn't exactly PETA's favorite person. And now, she's really done it.

The animal rights organization has blasted the pop star for decking out her pup, Asia, in jewelry. Gaga Instagrammed shots of the French bulldog — a.k.a. "Little McQueen" — wearing elaborate headpieces and even heavy clip-on earrings. PETA, for one, wasn't amused.

“Lady Gaga may choose to decorate herself with elaborate and even uncomfortable outfits, but Asia doesn’t get to make that choice," PETA said in a statement on their site. "Though it seems pretty clear that Lady Gaga loves Asia, we think Asia — and all dogs — are adorable without all the added flair.”

Click through to see more of the puppy pics that offended PETA, as well assome of the singer's fans. Maybe next time she should just stick to a designer collar?

Chrissy Teigen Bashes Twitter's Reporting System After Receiving Photos Of Lynchings

 photo ChrissyTeigen-MSA-020727_zpsce79ce5c.jpg

Chrissy Teigen is mad as hell that someone is sending her racist messages, and Twitter’s "tedious" reporting process isn’t helping.

Teigen, who is Norwegian and Thai, went on a rant last night after she tried to report a user on Twitter who she says was sending her photos of lynchings along with other racist messages. Teigen is married to John Legend, who is African American.

The model started by taking a photo of Twitter’s abusive user form and writing, "Dear @twitter: I commend you for linking to this page when reporting an abusive user. But it's worthless and tedious. It links to that page via twitter, asks you for the username, at the end, which you can't go back to without redoing entire report. It makes filing the 'report' not worth it and these horrible assholes that send me horrifically racist and threatening tweets get to live on."

Sherlock Holmes has reportedly solved the mystery of how to find true love. According to PBS head Rebecca Eaton, "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch has a girlfriend now.

Eaton dropped the bomb earlier this week, The New York Post reported. "She wouldn’t say whom the 'Sherlock' actor has met, but she said it’s time for all those 'Cumberb---hes' — the name used by his huge base of female followers — to move on," it read.
Cumberbatch, 37, has been single since 2012, when he broke up with British fashion designer Anna James. He did, however, reveal what he finds sexy in the September 2013 of ELLE Japan.

"A woman who knows that she doesn’t have to get all decked out to look good is sexy. A woman who can make you feel smart with her conversation skills is also sexy. I believe the sense of humour is important," he said. "I also think someone who is good at working with others is sexy. It’s like playing a tennis doubles match. You need to be able to work well together if you are to stay as partners for a long time."

So, who is Cumberbatch's secret love? We have a few theories:

Zendaya: "I'm Black Enough for Aaliyah Role"

Since being chosen to star as Aaliyah in the upcoming Lifetime biopic, 17-year-old actress/singer Zendaya has been getting a lot of shade thrown her way. Many critics have taken to social media to bash the "Replay" singer, saying she is not dark enough to portray the late singer.

Splash News caught up with the ex-Disney starlet to see if the naysayers had her feeling some type of way.

"A lot of people say I’m not black enough. Half black is just enough," she said as she brought her father, Kazeme Ajamu, who is African American, into the shot. "It doesn’t matter what color you are, it’s about how you portray the character. For those that don’t know, Angela Bassett and Tina Turner, they look nothing alike but she was that character so I think that’s what it’s all about.”

Her dad chimed in, playfully saying " They're shooting this in the summer. She'll get dark enough."

What's next for HBIC/DILF Chris Argent?

In Season 2 of “Teen Wolf,” we learned that women were the rightful leaders of the Argent family, and werewolf hunter Chris Argent used to be surrounded by them. His wife Victoria was fierce and determined (and, let’s be honest, CRAZY); his daughter, Allison, was bold yet compassionate. But now, both are gone, and excluding his sociopathic sister, Kate, who’s poised to make her Beacon Hills return, Chris’ family is no longer.

When we first met the man with a penchant for silver, Chris was brash, uncompromising and stern, and got his kicks taunting the werewolves around town whenever he could. What’s more, after discovering that his little girl was dating a werewolf, he freaked out and nearly killed young Scott McCall to stop the relationship.

Slowly, though, as Allison assumed a more prominent position among her family’s militia, Chris began to trust her more. As if by osmosis, he became gentler (at one point, it was he who talked Allison down from violent, vengeful behavior!). When he deliberately set beta werewolves Boyd and Erica free from his father Gerard’s grip at the end of Season 2 — even though their leader Derek had given his wife “the bite” — Chris proved he was a changed man.

'Rising Star' turns a clever voting gimmick into a reality train wreck.

There were reasons why I was feverishly anticipating the June 22 premiere of ABC’s Rising Star. Summer TV has been relatively weak so far, and it’s nice to think that a brand new reality competition might be worth investing in. We as a people may have grown tired of rote reality, but we haven’t yet gotten past that little inkling of hope that something will be the next big thing.

So is Rising Star that next big thing? The short answer is no. The long answer? Nooooooo.
