Elin Nordegren Breaks Her 4-Year Silence on Tiger Woods

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Ever since their August 2010 divorce was announced, Elin Nordegren has had nothing to say publicly about Tiger Woods – until now.

In an at-home interview marking her May 10 graduation with top honors from Rollins College, Nordegren tells PEOPLE that things are "really good" between her and her ex, who live just a 25-minute drive apart in southern Florida and see each other regularly as they share custody of daughter Sam, 6, and son Charlie, 5.

She-Hulk is a feminist hero, not a male fantasy

I have written more pieces than I care to count about the frustrating fact that the movie-making arms of Marvel and DC can have Norse gods, a talking raccoon and reanimated World War II veterans as heroes but somehow cannot manage to tell a story about a superpowered woman. But, periodically, I get a reminder that, given some of the people in positions of creative power at these companies, it might be better to have no superheroines than the versions of superheroines they might come up with.

The most recent person to dampen my enthusiasm is David S. Goyer, the writer behind Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and Zack Snyder’s new Superman franchise — in other words, the dominant voice defining the movies adapted from the stable of DC Comics characters. In a since-deleted podcast, transcribed by bloggers at the genre fiction site the Mary Sue, Goyer tried to explain the appeal of the Marvel character She-Hulk.

Created in 1980, the character is the alter ego of Jennifer Walters, a lawyer and cousin to scientist Bruce Banner. Walters gained the ability to get big, green and mean after Banner gave her a transfusion of his own blood after she was shot. But unlike the Hulk, who turns into a mindless animal when Banner transforms, She-Hulk stays perfectly rational, even acquiring a witty, cutting edge and a confident approach to sex and dating. At her best, she is what women might be if they were freed from fears of judgment and the threat of physical danger.

So it is awfully depressing to hear Goyer’s theory of She-Hulk’s ongoing appeal.

'Secret' App Finally Launches for Android

Secret, the app for anonymously sharing secrets, launched its long-awaited Android app Wednesday and rolled out new features to both iOS and Android users.

The company also announced both apps are now available globally.

"These conversations and the incredible openness of the Secret community has inspired us to work as quickly as possible to bring Secret to more people in more places around the world," the company shared in a blog post.

The Android app will include a new feature unique to the Android version: two different activity streams, "Friend" and "Explore." The Friend stream will surface secrets from friends, which the app defines as people saved in your contact list, while Explore will display popular posts from users nearby and around the world.

Tuesday's update gives both iOS and Android users new ways to interact with others on Secret. Both apps will now include questions, posted by Secret's team, that users can answer and share with friends. The prompts will appear sporadically throughout the app and will roll out to users gradually.

For the first time, users will be able to see just how many of their friends are also using the app. Users are still kept anonymous, but the app now displays a card letting you know how many friends are also on Secret.

Tuesday's updates come just weeks after Secret announced it was readying an Android app and expanding to new countries. The app was initially only available to users in the U.S.

Love Dollhouse Channels Destiny’s Child And SWV On Debut Single “Can I”

It’s been a while since a new R&B girl group broke big, which is odd because the ’90s and early ’00s were littered with iconic all-female acts like Destiny’s Child, En Vogue, TLC and SWV. There is, however, some hope on the horizon in the form of Love Dollhouse — trio of teenagers from Detroit with a killer debut single called “Can I”.

Written by Claude Kelly and produced by Jon Jon Traxx, “Can I” is an R&B-infused pop gem with an infectious chorus and the kind of lush, layered harmonies you just don’t hear on the radio anymore. The song definitely has a fuzzy throwback vibe that evokes the great girl bands that went before them. Ryan, Jasmine and Chelsea perform some cute choreography in the video (up top) but mostly just kick back and sing.

Juliette Binoche slums it with KStew and Chloe Moretz in "Clouds Of Sils Maria"

The conventional wisdom goes that if your movie plays at the end of the film festival, chances are it’s not very good, or certainly not as worthwhile as the pictures that debut during those hot first few days. Certainly this is largely true for Sundance and TIFF, festivals that Hollywood abandons en masse after the first critical weekend, but the Cannes Film Festival is different, and they basically do whatever they want (true of the French too). So if you’re worried about Olivier Assayas’ Clouds Of Sils Maria playing near the end of the festival, fear not (plus we’ve heard the scheduling is to accommodate wrangling the talent, with many of the cast are shooting films elsewhere).

If you’re paying close attention to this one, and you should (here’s the informative director’s statement), the movie is essentially about the relationship with the past and chronicles an actress (Juliette Binoche) who has to face the fact that she's aging and has lost a classic part to a younger, more alluring actress (Chloe Grace Moretz). Together with her assistant (Kristen Stewart), the elder actress departs to rehearse in Sils Maria; a remote region of the Alps. The movie also stars Brady Corbet and Johnny Flynn (who appeared alongside Anne Hathaway in "Song One").

Why 5 Seconds Of Summer are More Important to Pop-Punk Than You Think

Edited for your vision

It’s time to address the elephant in the room: 5 Seconds Of Summer are blowing up. Their hit single, “She Looks So Perfect,” is taking over the radio and their EP of the same name debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 143,000 copies in its first week. Why does this matter to us? Well, for one thing, the band are being branded as pop-punk, which they are, albeit the poppiest, most radio-friendly form. In a broader view, what this means is that the massive major-label infrastructure pushing this band is highlighting the fact that they’re pop-punk—not trying to change them into a boy band—at a time when pop-punk couldn’t be more maligned as a genre by mainstream music culture. Think about it. When’s the last you heard a pop-punk band (that wasn’t Fall Out Boy) have mainstream radio success? It’s been a while.

Ridiculist: Anderson Cooper tackles Dallas talk show host offended by Michael Sam kiss

Amy Kushnir, the Dallas morning talk show host who voiced strong opposition to ESPN airing the first openly-gay NFL draft pick kissing his boyfriend, has made it to CNN — on Anderson Cooper's “Ridiculist.”

The openly gay anchor sarcastically took the “Ladies of Dallas” co-host to task for complaining that Michael Sam's brief kiss was “pushed in faces” of viewers, and therefore “wrong,” because parents did not have a chance to screen the moment in time to approve it for their children.

When asked by a co-host if she would have the same reaction to a man kissing his wife, Kushnir maintained she would have said “get a room.”

'Big Hero 6' - The Trailer + Behind the Scenes

Marvel has already conquered the multiplex, made their movie into television, and are getting ready to invade Netflix, so what's the next move for the comics giant? Animation. It's a surprise it's taken this long considering that comic books seem ready made for the format, but as we already know, Marvel carefully thinks each move before making it. And so it'll be interesting to see if Disney Animation can not only continue the run of success for Marvel, but also bring something fresh to the genre.
Don Hall ("Winnie The Pooh") and Chris Williams ("Bolt") direct this one that will take audiences to San Fransokyo, where a robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada and his robot sidekick Baymax who team up with a group of crimefighters — including the exotically named folks Wasabi-No-Ginger, Honey Lemon, GoGo Tomago, and uh,  Fred — to stop some bad guys. On the one hand, this is a property that almost nobody except comic book types know. On the other hand, that doesn't matter, particularly with animated film that has more leeway to introduce audiences to new worlds.
Will you want to step into this one? "Big Hero 6" arrives on November 7th. Watch the first trailer below.

The former Beatle is looking to reschedule the May 28 Seoul date.

Paul McCartney has called off his Seoul show set for May 28 due to health problems, concert organizer Hyundai Card announced on Wednesday.

Fans should not be too disappointed, however, as an alternative date is likely to be set.

"All possibilities to reschedule this show are being explored," said a spokesperson for the former Beatle.

The cancellation comes shortly after the 71-year-old called off two shows in neighboring Japan due to illness.

Katy Perry Added to US National Portrait Gallery

Collapse )

Katy Perry is getting an honor usually reserved for later in life. Her portrait is joining the collection at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington.

The museum said Wednesday that a 2010 portrait of Perry by artist Will Cotton, entitled "Cupcake Katy," will go on view beginning June 18. It will be part of a rotating display of recently acquired portraits. The tongue-in-cheek picture depicts Perry as a cupcake.

Perry previously collaborated with Cotton on the design for her "California Girls" music video.

Museum Director Kim Sajet (Sayet) says Perry comes from a tradition of strong women entertainers who challenge their supposedly superficial pop personas. She says on closer look, Perry is a complex figure.

Other pop stars in the Smithsonian collection include Beyonce, Madonna and Michael Jackson.

Fall Out Boy Releases 2 New Music Videos.

Ever since the spring 2013 release of their album Save Rock and Roll, the band has been rolling out one music video at a time as part of an ongoing series called The Young Blood Chronicles and you can watch the final two chapters right here, right now! Inspired by such stylistic touchstones as The Walking Dead, silent movies and The Lord Of The Rings, the Chronicles depict the group going to literally Hell and back as they wrestle with fame, fortune, drugs, zombies, zombie strippers, zombie strippers dressed as nurses, kidnappers, and most terrifying of all, Courtney Love.  Now with the release tonight of “Miss Missing You” and “Save Rock and Roll,” the whole bloody thing, and it really is quite bloody, comes to a dramatic end.
Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz summed up the conclusion, saying, “Elton John as God, Tommy Lee as The Devil. Trannyshack Changing Name Amid PC Pressure

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It's the end of an era, and a triumph for trans activists, as SF-based drag queen Heklina (a.k.a. Stefan Grygelko) announced this week that she'll be taking the "tranny" out of Trannyshack once and for all. The beloved 18-year-old drag club, which now travels the country and the globe throughout the year, is undergoing a rebranding. The news comes just a month after RuPaul bended to similar pressure and decided to cease using the "she-male" reference in the "You've Got She-Mail" segment of RuPaul's Drag Race, and amidst growing furor among the trans community that such offensive terms continue to be used flippantly in the gay male community.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

As Heklina wrote in a Facebook post Tuesday, "I generally loathe to be political, but whether I like it or not the very name of my legendary nightclub has become political." She goes on to explain that when the club began back in 1996, the word "tranny" didn't have nearly the charged weight that it now has, and in her view it arguably was not even as much of a slur word as "faggot" or "dyke" at the time but was more of an edgy, transgressive term thrown around frequently in the drag community.

Letterman: ‘I Feel Bad About My Role’ In Humiliating Lewinsky

David Letterman regrets the way he treated Monica Lewinsky throughout the years over her affair with then President Bill Clinton while she was a White House intern.

With retiring ABC News’ Barbara Walters as his guest on his CBS show Wednesday night, “The Late Show” host said he started to feel bad about the role he played taking shots at Lewinsky after she penned a story for Vanity Fair opening up about the affair and the troubles she had finding a job.

“Now I started to feel bad because myself and other people with shows like this made relentless jokes about the poor woman and she was a kid. She was 21, 22,” Letterman said, adding that it was a “sad human situation.”

Letterman continued: “I feel bad about my role in helping push the humiliation to the point of suffocation.”

Walters said it was time to “turn the page” on Lewinsky.

“She has been ridiculed now for all these years and she is an intelligent woman,” Walters told Letterman. “I wish her well.”

'Godzilla' proves that Hollywood has a boring white guy problem

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that a potential franchise in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a good white man. From Indiana Jones to Star Wars, white men have long been blockbusters' bread and butter, our Ethan Hunts and Mavericks, our John McClanes and Terminators. They are the ones who save the world from the brink of disaster, whether the threat comes in the form of mutated dinosaurs, errant boulders, Nazis, or space evil.

Jaws, the 1975 mega-hit that created the tentpole blockbuster as we know it today, is the story of white guys saving the world from a shark. It's the most obvious forebear to Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, except this time (spoiler alert), the giant monster is the good guy. What’s most widely remembered about Jaws is Steven Spielberg’s decision to tell and not show, delaying the appearance of the titular sea beast as long as possible. Spielberg understood the power of building suspense, first grounding your story in a sense of character and stakes.

But in the case of Godzilla, we need saving not from giant lizards or jurassic moths, but from white men themselves.

To make Godzilla, Edwards brought together a dream cast of beloved character actors, including Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, and Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, who is proving to be one of the definitive actors of his generation. Bringing together this ensemble was part of the movie’s marketing strategy, a marker of the film’s quality. For those who remember Roland Emmerich’s previous attempt at bringing Japanese monsters to America, it was a sign the studio would totally fuck it up this time.

But the problem is that instead of making the film about its ludicrously talented cast, Godzilla hands off the narrative to Aaron Taylor-Johnson, a blandly pleasant-looking 23-year-old who seems to get less expressive with each film. Johnson has worked well in films where his blank slate personality fit the everyman nature of the part; whenever he’s asked to lend dramatic weight to the story, he fails miserably.

WE TV orders "South of Hell" to series

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

WE tv has ordered a horror series that combines the talents of creatives from Paranormal Activity, Dexter, and Hostel.

The network has greenlit South of Hell, about a young demon hunter in Savannah, Georgia who struggles with her own internal possession. The main character, Maria Abascal, is described as a “stunning, 30-year-old demon-hunter-for-hire. Alongside her brother, David, she is skilled and fearless in her pursuit of the demons that live in others. Like those that she hunts, Maria is divided within herself, struggling with her own demon, Abigail, who resides inside of her, feeding on the evil Maria exorcises from others.”

“As WE tv moves firmly into scripted programming, we are committed to presenting distinctive and engaging stories to today’s savvy TV audience,” said Marc Juris, WE tv’s president. “That is certainly the case with South of Hell, a dramatic thriller that introduces viewers to an unforgettable character, supernatural themes and the battle between good and evil.”

Added Roth: “I’m thrilled to be a part of South of Hell. Exorcism and possession stories have always fascinated me, and Matt Lambert has created an incredibly rich, original world in which to tell many stories of good, evil and everyone’s own personal inner demons. I’m also honored to be working with Jim and Jason, both of whom I greatly admire. We want to create something smart and spectacular, and we are excited to be at the forefront of WE tv’s new scripted series initiative.”

WEtv has ordered eight initial episodes, which will premiere next year.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is known for bold statements, and he made a few Wednesday at a conference in Nashville on the topic of banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join Cameron Tucker and Mitchell Pritchett in holy matrimony and to mourn the passing of what was a rather flat, occasionally inspired season of Modern Family.

When I first began reviewing the sitcom back in September 2013, after an impressive double-episode season premiere, I claimed, “Television’s most celebrated comedy is not going through a mid-series crisis.” Well, although several half hours this season will remain among the top episodes of the ABC comedy, I do not stand by that statement. Modern Family was occasionally brilliant this year, but was also marred by silly subplots and rushed pacing. The fifth season began with Mitch and Cam’s poignant in-tandem marriage proposals, and although their impending wedding has always kept some momentum going until this two-part finale – inconveniently airing on two separate weeks – the big day did not live up to expectations.

While this season of Modern Family should have focused on their characters as they made their vows and cemented their relationship, the couple did not even have the most captivating storyline in their own wedding episode. That honor would go to Haley Dunphy, the only character who has shown steady growth over the season. Sarah Hyland has matured Haley in a way that felt natural and authentic, showing us that one of the show’s least fully dimensional characters (at least in previous seasons) could be thoughtful, creative and loving to those closest to her.

What did you think, ONTD? I loved the finale and I love the show, though I agree with the writer about the pacing and lack of character development this season. I ship Haley and Andy so hard though. I haven't had an OTP since Lost was on so these feels are very new to me lol.

Rihanna And Charlie Sheen Are Involved In The Weirdest Feud Ever Right Now

It seems like someone up there in the pop culture sky put a bunch of celebrity names in a hat and drew two of them out to get in a fight with each other, because I can’t think of any other reason why Rihanna and Charlie Sheen would be in a feud right now.

It all started earlier today, when Charlie put up one of his bizarre haiku-cum-Twitter-rants, explaining that he and his current girlfriend Brett Rossi were out to dinner the night before, to celebrate her birthday, when they realized Rihanna was at the same restaurant. Apparently they sent over a request to be introduced to her, but she declined the meeting, as she felt there were too many paparazzi outside.

Jessica Chastain talks playing Marilyn Monroe in 'Blonde'

While Chastain turned down rumours over her being in the next season of True Detective, she did talk (and confirm) that she’ll be playing Marilyn Monroe for Andrew Dominik in the movie long-gestating project “Blonde.”

“Listen, with that project, I love Andrew Dominik. I think he’s an incredible filmmaker and artist,” she said. “He has his own different, unique voice. I wasn’t interested in, and I’m not interested in, making a Marilyn Monroe biopic, because I feel like we’ve had so many of those and so many people are fantastic and it’s not a competition, you know what I mean?

Larry Kramer asked The Normal Heart director Ryan Murphy: 'Are you going to show cock?'

Author wanted assurance Murphy was brave enough to show what gay life and AIDS crisis was like

When The Normal Heart author Larry Kramer sat down with Ryan Murphy to discuss making a movie version of his landmark play about the early days of the AIDS crisis, the outspoken Kramer was very 'bold' with his questions.

Murphy recalled part of their initial conversation at a special screening in Los Angeles on Wednesday (21 May) attended by Gay Star News: 'He said: "Are you going to show cock? Are you going to really go for it? Are you brave enough to show what it was really like?"'

Murphy's movie, which premieres Sunday (25 May) on HBO does not shy away from the free sexuality of gay men in the pre-AIDS early 1980s nor the ravages of the disease that became an epidemic.

'I think it looks like a horror movie in some ways,' Murphy said. 'I wanted it to be very graphic from a medical aspect. ... I think many young people today don't know that it was really so horrific.'

The skin lesions from Kaposi's sarcoma, the vomit, the dementia, the dramatic weight loss and more is depicted in the film.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Oreos are Real and Available

Unlike many people in my life, Oreo seems to never disappoint. Combining two of my favorite go-to binge sweets into one glorious cookie, Oreo is now releasing for a limited time a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup flavor and it’s exactly how I pictured the love child of these two treats.

Listed at at Walmart, the cookies can only be purchased by walking into stores and interacting with other humans. Sorry folks, no online orders. Though if you’re planning on tackling an entire package like I am, maybe some walking wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

fresh off his triumph with Godzilla, 'Star Wars' Spinoff Hires Director Gareth Edwards

Gareth Edwards is taking on another monumental challenge: transforming Star Wars into just a single series of films into a Shared Universe of films. Edwards will direct the first standalone Star Wars film, coming December 2016.

Who's this film about? The Lucasfilm press release doesn't say. We'd heard the first solo-character spin-off would be about Boba Fett, that enigmatic helmeted bounty hunter. But we'd also heard the Boba Fett movie would be written by Lawrence Kasdan — and apparently this unnamed movie will be written by Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli, After Earth).

Mike Myers Supports Kanye West's Katrina Statement, Years Later

Nearly nine years after Kanye West proclaimed that "George Bush doesn't care about black people" in a national telethon to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims, the man who stood next to him with a winced look on his face has voiced his support. "I'm, like, super proud to have been next to him," actor Mike Myers recently told GQ. "The look on my face is. . . to be honest with you, I thought I handled it well."

Looking back at the telethon, Myers recalled feeling surprised and uncomfortable. He said he wanted to do the telethon because he, too, felt "ironically, that if this was white people on roofs, the army would be there in five seconds." When one of the show's producers told him he would be working with Kanye West, Myers recalled not being familiar with the rapper's work. "And then he said he was going to take some liberties with the thing." Myers said he didn't know that the liberty would be "calling out" Bush.

Myers told the interviewer, "I don't mind answering the question [about Kanye] but the emphasis of it being that I'm the guy next to the guy who spoke a truth." Moreover, Myers said, "To have the emphasis on the look on my face versus the fact that somebody spoke truth to power at a time when somebody needed to speak? I'm very proud to have been next to him."

Taylor Kitsch rediscovers himself and his career with "The Normal Heart"

Taylor Kitsch is sitting in a incredibly modern, picturesque conference room atop a high-rise building in New York City, clad in a crisp gray designer suit. That night, he’ll walk down the red carpet in front of Midtown’s legendary Ziegfeld Theater for the premiere of HBO’s The Normal Heart as paparazzi call his name and interviewers ask who he’s wearing.

And none of that is lost on 33-year-old Kitsch, who saw this same city through very different lenses just a decade earlier. “I was homeless in New York City during my early twenties,” he revealed to BuzzFeed with a frankness that doesn’t allow for an ounce of shame. “I spent a couple of weeks sleeping on the subway, then I’d slam at a friend’s house, wear that place out, and move on to the next. I’m Canadian, and didn’t have a visa, so I couldn’t work. In retrospect, it was stupid on a lot of levels and I don’t know how I did it. I just wasn’t ready to quit trying to be an actor.”

But thanks largely to the kindness of one woman, Kitsch didn’t have to. “I met Sheila Grey and she really pulled me out of a lot of stuff,” Kitsch said of his longtime acting coach, for whom his gratitude has not waned over the subsequent decade. “For years, she let me take her classes for free, and after a lot of work on myself, in 2006, I got an incredible film called The Covenant.”

He laughed looking back on the supernatural drama that revolved around a coven of chiseled male witches, also starring Chase Crawford, Sebastian Stan, and Steven Strait. “It’s so good,” Kitsch joked. “I don’t know how it didn’t sweep the Oscars.” Though the film ended up being a punch line on the résumés of everyone involved, it did allow Kitsch to do something he’d wanted to do for a long time: “Because of the money I made on that movie, I paid Sheila back for everything.”

Viral Videos and Gossip Websites Changed America and Took Down Tom Cruise

How We gave up one of the best and most talented movie stars for a gif of tom cruise on oprah

It was Jason Tugman's first day of work. Almost a decade later, he still remembers the screams.

A former circus fire-eater, he'd taken a job as a lighting technician for The Oprah Winfrey Show after burning off a chunk of his tongue. The pay was $32 an hour and he didn't want to screw it up. But as Tugman carefully hung black curtains in Studio B, directly behind the orange set where Oprah taped, those screams wouldn't stop. The crowd sounded as if it was going to tear the building down.

"I could just hear the audience going absolutely apeshit," Tugman says. "Just the absolute losing of minds." He glanced at a monitor that transmitted a silent, live feed. Tom Cruise was on a couch.

Writer Simon Kinberg regrets how X-Men: The Last Stand turned out

Would have given Dark Phoenix more focus

Simon Kinberg has been discussing X-Men: The Last Stand, one of the more divisive episodes in the big-screen franchise, and says he regrets how the film ended up turning out.

"I regret that the Dark Phoenix story wasn’t the primary story of the movie," admits Kinberg, echoing one of the major fan gripes with Brett Ratner's film.

"I would have fought harder for the Dark Phoenix," continues the writer. "Listen, I think if we made that movie today, there are a lot of things that would be different."

"The universe today, culturally, is more open to a darker superhero film. And the darkness of her story was a little bit daunting on a huge $200 million studio movie. It would be less daunting today."

However, Days Of Future Past has given Kinberg the opportunity to gain a little closure on those regrets...

"This was sort of my opportunity, a little like the characters in Days of Future Past going back and improving their younger selves with the lessons they’ve learned as wiser men. It’s sort of a chance for me to go back and do differently what I did ten years ago on X3."

Family files lawsuit in death of 'Midnight Rider' crew member Sarah Jones

Among the defendants are the production company, the company that operates the train tracks, and various individuals, including the film's director, executive producers, location manager and director of photography.

The suit was filed in Chatham County, Georgia, which includes Savannah.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"Each of the Midnight Riders Defendants had knowledge, actual or constructive, that the scene filmed on February 20 was to take place on active railroad tracks, without permission from CSX, and each Midnight Rider Defendant knew of the danger presented by filming under those circumstances," the complaint reads.

"Despite this knowledge, and as set forth above, the Midnight Rider Defendants breached their duties to conduct the February 20 filming in a safe and legal manner, and each Midnight Rider Defendant is independently liable to Plaintiffs for Sarah's death and resulting damages."

Jones' death rocked the film community.

Crew members from various countries shared photo tributes, holding clapboards with messages of remembrance for Jones. Images were shared on a Facebook group Slates for Sarah.

Jones' primary job on set was to operate the slate at the beginning of each take. Jones, an Atlanta resident and member of the International Cinematographers Guild, used her "spunk and determination" to climb up in the industry, according to an obituary.

Her family is seeking an "amount to be determined by the enlightened conscience of the jury."

Attempts to contact defendants' attorneys were unsuccessful Wednesday.source

Creepy Children’s Show Gets Reimagined As a Survival Horror Game

Until today, I hadn’t heard of “The Trap Door”, and now I’m left wondering how its existence eluded me for so long. For the uninitiated, it’s a British claymation series from the 1980′s that followed a group of monsters who lived in a castle. Its target demographic was children, but because it leaned heavily on gothic horror and dark fantasy themes, the show eventually found itself a cult following.

Developer Aetheric Games has decided to reimagine the series as Trap Door, a mod for Amnesia: The Dark Descent that features original writing, voice-overs, a modified sanity system, multiple endings, and no lantern. I hope you’re not afraid of the dark.

Unintentionally creepy kids shows are the best.

Rumor: Alfonso Cuarón Offered 'The Shining' Prequel 'The Overlook Hotel'

After the smash, Oscar winning success of the completely original sci-fi thrill ride "Gravity," Warner Bros. wants to work with director Alfonso Cuarón again — but only on established properties. At least that's what the rumor mill is saying. Earlier this week, word surfaced that Cuarón was in talks with Warner Bros. to direct their 'Harry Potter' spinoff, "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them." And now a fresh piece of intel (as always, take with a grain of salt and don't freak out) has Cuarón being approached to direct a prequel to Stanely Kubrick's classic "The Shining" titled "The Overlook Hotel."

According to Schmoes Know, WB has essentially offered the project to Cuarón and it's his if he wants it (or not). This is a project that has been brewing at the studio for a while now, and it has some major names behind it.  "The Walking Dead" showrunner/writer/producer Glen Mazzara is writing the script, with Laeta Kalogridis ("Avatar," "Shutter Island"), Bradley Fischer ("Black Swan," "Zodiac") and James Vanderbilt ("Zodiac," "The Amazing Spider-Man") all on board to produce. As for the story? No word yet, and as much as we hate this idea, we sorta curious to see what element of "The Shining" the filmmakers want to expand upon. (But if you want to know what happens after the events in the book, Stephen King recently published a sequel, "Doctor Sleep").

Again, this is just a rumor and we'd wager WB is probably throwing a lot of stuff at Cuarón to see what he wants to do next. But frankly, we'd rather see him to do anything else than a prequel to a movie that doesn't need one or a spinoff to a franchise he already put his stamp on.

Game of Thrones - Disney style!

Artist depicts "Game of Thrones" characters the Disney way. Imagine Jon Snow in a purple cape looking like he's about to woo Cinderella.

What would you get if you plopped the characters of Westeros into the Magic Kingdom?

That's the question artist Fernando Mendonça set out to answer with a series of works posted to DeviantART. So far, Mendonça has posted five images depicting "Game of Thrones" characters drawn in traditional Disney stylings, and we think he's really nailed it.

He's got Jon Snow with his Direwolf Ghost, Bran Stark and Hodor, Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, and, of course, her brother Tyrion, and each is undeniably Disney-fied. You can find them on Mendonça's Facebook page.

Check out the images for yourselves to see how incredibly awesome they are, and let's hope HBO and Disney don't try to send him through the Moon Door.

Iker Casillas covers GQ España, talks about World Cup

In an exclusive interview with GQ magazine, Iker Casillas has declared that the Spain squad has won the "right to fail" after six years of title triumphs. Casillas also says that the start Spain have against Holland is a "stimulus" that will help the side adopt the right attitude.

Casillas, who was the hero four years ago in South Africa, underlined the difficulty of the group that Spain has been drawn into together with Holland, Chile and Australia.

"Then, I was lucky because I tried to guess which way Robben would hit the ball but he changed his mind at the last second and I was able to take the ball off his foot. It was not a great save, but it was important as we did not concede a goal".

Some observers believe Casillas will arrive at the tournament rested up while others feel he is not in form due to his lack of games this season, but the captain says he feels "good" despite all the talk.

Billy Corgan and His Cats on the Cover of PAWS Chicago

Billy Corgan may do a lot of zany stuff alongside the work that has made him a respected artist but we're pretty sure underneath it all he has a heart of gold. Corgan has been actively involved in supporting PAWS Chicago, an organization focused on building No Kill communities for cats and dogs.

Last year Corgan raised $60,000 for PAWS by auctioning off a private concert to the highest bidders. And his ties go even deeper; his cats Sammi and Mr. Thom were both adopted from PAWS.

You can learn more about Corgan's involvement with the organization by picking up a copy of the organizations latest issue of their print magazine. You can easily locate it by the presence of Corgan on the cover. No, that's not a hairless Siamese cat, that's Billy.

Even if you can't adopt a pet permanently, PAWS cold use your help in a variety of ways, including a recent desperate call for Fosters to help save animals from being euthanized due to decreasing space available in the Chicago Pound.

Join Billy Corgan in doing good for the kitties and puppies in your community!
