Not many women would be brave enough to declare on television how much they weigh.
But that's exactly what American Idol star Jordin Sparks did as she talked to the Today show on Friday.
During the segment Love Your Selfie, Reclaiming Beauty the 24-year-old star opened up to anchor Jenna Bush Hager about her amazing transformation and losing 50lbs.

I doubt anybody here is gonna wanna say how much they weigh...
It was 10 years ago Tuesday that “Friends” went off the air.
Since then, the six main cast members have had varying levels of success.
So who’s on top today? Here’s the rundown.
Post-“Friends”: Since “Friends” bowed out, the now-45-year-old blonde has appeared in a long string of movies. Last year’s “We’re the Millers” was a big winner, changing her luck after a run of mostly duds, including “The Bounty Hunter,” “Wanderlust” and “Love Happens.”
Estimated net worth: $150 million
Love life: Aniston has been linked to Vince Vaughn, singer John Mayer, British model Paul Sculfor, Orlando Bloom and Gerard Butler.
She’s currently engaged to Justin Theroux, an actor-screenwriter.
Scandals: There was that small matter of Angelina Jolie supposedly stealing Aniston’s husband, Brad Pitt, on the set of 2005’s “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”
Analysis: Make all the jokes you want about “The Bounty Hunter” or her endless “Sad Jen” tabloid covers. Aniston is clearly on top.
“She’s broken out as both an actor and a celebrity,” says Mickey O’Connor, editor-in-chief at tvguide.com. “All the stuff that makes someone a star, she has: She sells magazines, she has endorsement deals [with Aveeno and Smartwater], she’s produced movies. I think you’d call her an A-list actor. You wouldn’t say that about the others.”

Indeed, tonight’s episode, titled “First of His Name,” is all about making moves — be it in King’s Landing, where Tyrion Lannister stands accused of killing the king; in the far north, as Jon marches toward Craster’s Keep, where Bran is being held captive by deserters of the Night’s Watch; or in the far east, where Daenerys reigns as queen of Meereen.
Here are our predictions for who will make moves on tonight’s episode.

Former British No 1 dies after losing her fight with liver cancer
"We are heartbroken beyond words at the loss of our beautiful, talented and determined Bally," said husband Nino Severino.
Baltacha learned she had liver cancer in mid-January 2014, two months after retiring from professional tennis and only a few weeks after marrying.
Baltacha was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis, a chronic liver condition which compromises the immune system, aged 19.
Despite her illness and multiple injury problems, Baltacha went on to reach the Australian Open third round in 2005 and 2010 and reached a career-high world ranking of 49.
She won 11 singles titles, made the third round of Wimbledon in 2002 and was part of Great Britain's Fed Cup team for 11 years.
This is so awful she was so young :(
If any ONTDers are interested a second Rally Against Cancer (Named Rally for Bally in her honour) event is happening at the Queen's club again this year and this Justgiving page is where you can donate to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and Elena's Academy of Tennis.
The first pictures have surfaced from Lady Gaga's opening night of her Art Rave tour and apparently she's gonna be showing quite a lot to her audience every night!

Jennifer Lopez is quite possibly the sexiest woman on the planet, but just in case you forgot that cold hard fact, she’s gone and dressed up in a red latex fetish skirt and a matching bondage bra on the cover of her new album as a friendly reminder of her almighty hotness.
Sure, the font is horrible, but I don’t think anybody is really looking at that part of the cover.
Explaining the album title during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, Jenny said, “A.K.A., which is Also Known As, because I’ve been given so many monikers. And I do a lot of different things.”
That makes sense. She could’ve gone for something long-winded like. ‘Me. I Am Jennifer… The Omnipresent Hyphenate,’ but A.K.A. is far more succinct.
James Franco strategically got in bed with Keegan Allen in an attempt "blow up Twitter."
"I went to go say hey to him in his dressing room," the "Pretty Little Liars" star told E! News about the day they posted a "selfie in bed" together.
Allen, 24, recently attended Franco's Broadway show, "Of Mice and Men," and when visiting the "Spring Breakers" star backstage, things took an interesting turn.
"There were a lot of people there and I asked him, 'What's the way to do the best selfie in bed?' and he showed me," Allen recalled.
Franco didn't only demonstrate the ways of a bed selfie, he decided to join the 24-year-old actor.
After celebrating her 26th birthday, Adele posted a selfie on her Twitter account saying goodbye to '25'.
Bye bye 25... See you again later in the year x pic.twitter.com/HEmY14El5s— Adele (@OfficialAdele) May 4, 2014
The cryptic post to her 20 million followers is fuelling speculation about the soul singer's upcoming album. It seems to confirm rumours that we could be seeing '25' later in 2014.
Her two previous albums, '19' and '21' were named after the singer's age when she wrote them.
ALEX NAGORSKI: What inspired you to pursue drag as your fulltime career?
BIANCA DEL RIO: Well, I have a full time job outside of this … or I did up until I did Drag Race. I worked for a Broadway costume company. They make costumes for opera and theater in New York, and then I did drag at night. So I have a full time life. But since Drag Race, I’ve been doing a lot of traveling. I took a leave of absence from my day job to focus on all of this, so that like right now, I can do interviews in the middle of the afternoon.
Where does the name Bianca Del Rio come from?
Nothing too crazy, actually. I was at a bar with a friend of mine and she said that I needed a name and mentioned that she had a good friend named Bianca, so I said “OK,” and then Del Rio came out of nowhere. We got drunk in New Orleans – which is kind of redundant – but that’s where everything started.
To you, what are the qualities that make up (no pun intended) a perfect drag queen?
Well I don’t think there is such a thing as a “perfect drag queen” because everybody offers something different. I have some friends who are pageant girls, some friends who, like me, are comedy queens – so I think figuring out what works for you makes for the best type of drag queen. Usually when you have a different personality than someone else, you have people saying, “You should be more like this,” and that can limit you from finding and reaching the best of your abilities. Where I was when I started out versus where I’m at now is a completely different level. I think that by growing, you learn more about yourself and how to handle yourself in a professional way. If you want to work, professionalism is the ideal quality for a drag queen to have. Whatever your look is, whatever your style is, and whatever your talents might be are something completely different – but I think being a professional makes for the best, so do the best that you can!

The Italian designer has created two special looks for the American singer's Prismatic World Tour which kicks off this week.
Katy Perry will hit the stage this week wearing two Roberto Cavalli looks created especially for her by the Italian luxury brand.
They are certainly designed to keep all eyes fixed on the 29-year-old singer: the 'Kaleidoscope Brodè' dress is embroidered with prism crystals, sequins and iridescent micro baguettes. The dress's holographic mirror effect is created by a tulle plastron and patchwork leather motifs to create 3D reflections.
The second look, a 'Crocodile Scarab' silhouette features a pleated skirt and a micro top in mirrored multicolor leather. There's a crocodile graphic on a multilayer light mousseline silk lamé, covered with a thin layer of silver powder for added shine, and a printed leather biker jacket is worn over the top with a holographic reptile motif.
It's the latest in a series of music and fashion collaborations which have seen Calvin Klein create special stage looks for Drake, Maison Martin Margiela dress Kanye West, and Roberto Cavalli design custom gowns for Beyoncé's Mrs Carter tour.
The Prismatic tour begins this Wednesday (May 7) in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Perry will also wear an haute couture gown by Valentino, which she revealed via Instagram last week.
The cult of celebrity is a curious thing. So curious, that some of our modern day icons have been inspired to turn to the cult* of celebrity on its head, and join cults of their own.
Others have had dabblings** forced upon them by parents, loving brethren, or the hand(s) of god(s). Here are six of the weirdest.

* For the purposes of this article, a cult is defined a group with quasi-religious beliefs led by a charismatic weirdo who separates members from the outside world, often fleeces them of their money and goods, and frequently does them physical or psychological harm.

The Bump: I saw the [iHeartRadio] performance and then they cut to Rihanna and she started laughing. Now, I heard that she wasn't laughing at you, she was laughing at something your best friend said. I know you guys caught up afterwards, did she clarify that?
Ariana: No, I mean I didn't see her laughing at me, but when I watched it afterwards it looked like she was just shocked because I was doing something different. But afterwards she was so kind to me, she was like, "Lil' mama keep doing what you're doing because it's working." And so I thought it was funny that people tried to make such a commotion out of it when she was just being playful and supportive if anything, so I don't know. People are always trying to make a big deal out of nothing because they're bored.

The Sydney Writers' Festival unveiled its main event when Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan spoke in front of a packed audience at the Sydney Town Hall on Thursday night.
Gilligan gave fans of the hit TV series an insight into the conception and making of the series about mild-mannered science teacher Walter White's (Bryan Cranston) transformation into a meth manufacturer and drug kingpin.
The show became the highest-rating television series in history, according to Guinness World Records, with Australia leading the field in illegal downloads.

Literary elites love to rep Shakespeare’s vocabulary: across his entire corpus, he uses 28,829 words, suggesting he knew over 100,000 words and arguably had the largest vocabulary, ever.
Matt Daniels decided to compare this data point against the most famous artists in hip hop. He used each artist’s first 35,000 lyrics. That way, prolific artists, such as Jay-Z, could be compared to newer artists, such as Drake.
35,000 words covers 3-5 studio albums and EPs. Mixtapes if the artist was just short of the 35,000 words were included. Quite a few rappers don’t have enough official material to be included (e.g., Biggie, Kendrick Lamar). As a benchmark, data points for Shakespeare and Herman Melville were included, using the same approach (35,000 words across several plays for Shakespeare, first 35,000 of Moby Dick).
A research methodology called token analysis was used to determine each artist’s vocabulary. Each word is counted once, so pimps, pimp, pimping, and pimpin are four unique words. To avoid issues with apostrophes (e.g., pimpin’ vs. pimpin), they’re removed from the dataset. It still isn’t perfect. Hip hop is full of slang that is hard to transcribe (e.g., shorty vs. shawty), compound words (e.g., king shit), featured vocalists, and repetitive choruses.
It’s still directionally interesting. Of the 85 artists in the dataset, let’s take a look at who is on top.

Infamous New York City "club kid killer" Michael Alig was released from prison today after serving 17 years for the gruesome murder of his roommate.
Alig, now 47, who masterminded some of the most extravagant parties of the early Nineties, pleaded guilty to bludgeoning the winged drug dealer Andre “Angel” Menendez to death in 1996, before pouring bleach into his mouth, dismembering his body with knives and disposing of his corpse in the Hudson River. His accomplice, roommate Robert Riggs (otherwise known as ‘Freeze’, was also sentenced to 10-to-20 years in prison after he confessed to manslaughter. The former promoter was famously played by Macaulay Culkin in the 2003 film Party Monster, which was based on the novel Disco Bloodbath by original Club Kid James St James (who was played by Seth Green).

NBC’s dark drama/horror series Hannibal continues to be one of the most consistently gorgeous and unsettling shows on TV. Though the series is based on characters from Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon novel, creator/showrunner Bryan Fuller has carved out a distinctly separate path for the story, led by fantastic performances from Hugh Dancy as Will Graham and Mads Mikkselen as the dangerous and cunning Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The show’s current second season has only gotten more strange, abstract, and engrossing in the best way possible (it’s also the most visually driven series on TV), but the ratings from its Friday night broadcasts are very, very low.

It might be called "Maleficent," and Angelina Jolie might be rightfully taking center stage, but that doesn't mean that there are a whole host of magical characters deserving of their own chance in the spotlight.
Along with a beautiful poster featuring Jolie's very wicked witch, with an image that will probably be familiar to anyone who has been keeping up with the film's promotional campaign, we've got posters exclusively devoted to Princess Aurora aka Sleeping Beauty (Elle Fanning); Diaval (Sam Riley), Maleficent's confidant and shape shifter (he's the one who turns into a dragon in the trailer); Aurora's father, the shifty King Stefan (Sharlto Copley); and one devoted to the pixies, played (with some CGI-assistance) by Juno Temple, Imelda Staunton, and Lesley Manville... plus a bunch of mysterious magical creatures like that cool tree monster from the trailer and what appear to be trolls reminiscent of the musical kind from "Frozen."
Together, the posters present a wonderful glimpse of the mood and tone of "Maleficent." This is a magical and mysterious realm where fairy-tale characters aren't just the stuff of storybooks; they live and breathe and fight in elaborately choreographed battles. And it's going to be awesome.

All hail the king, imo.
Justin Bieber and Kylie Jenner had a blast on fight night in Las Vegas.
After cheering on the Biebs' pal Floyd Mayweather as the boxer fought and later defeated Marcos Maidana Saturday night, the duo posed for a selfie, which Bieber posted on Instagram Saturday night.
In the shot, the "Confident" crooner rocks shades and holds the camera while Jenner appears in the background.
Although the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star didn't post any shots with Bieber over the weekend, Kylie did post a shot of herself before the fight began, which showed her sitting down in a lace mini dress, with the caption, "Mayweather."
The latest sighting of Justin and the E! star comes after rumors surfaced that his ex-Selena Gomez cut ties with Kylie and her sister Kendall Jenner after they were spotted hanging out at Coachella a few weekends ago.
A source later told E! News that whatever the trio's issues may have been at the time, they had put it behind them, adding "all is good now." Selena did get jealous when Kylie and Justin got "flirty" with each other, the source added, but she and Kylie were "fine" after that, saying, "Selena has no issues with Kylie whatsoever."
The "Come & Get It" songstress has yet to comment about the duo's night out, instead posting a collage of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen in the video for "All of Me. "Them is EVERYTHING tho. Allofme," Selena captioned the shot Sunday. (lol tho)
A week before its release, the Black Keys' eighth album, Turn Blue, is streaming in full on iTunes Radio. The record, co-produced by Danger Mouse, contains 11 tracks ranging from bluesy, big-beat pop-rock tracks ("In Time") to shimmery, soulful earworms ("Year in Review"). The album is their first full-length since 2011's El Camino.
Frontman Dan Auerbach told Rolling Stone that the reason the group took so long between albums – after releasing one every two years or so for the past decade – was because the group was "this-is-your-brain-on-drugs fried." They then settled into the album's seven-minute, organ-tinged, quasi-psychedelic opener "Weight of Love" and with that written, the band decided not to try to write singles. "After that, it was like, 'We can do whatever we want – it'll be all right,'" Auerbach said. From there, the duo began working on what Auerbach called a "headphone record." "It pays off to listen more than once," drummer Patrick Carney said.
As they've prepped the release of Turn Blue, the Black Keys have been introducing its songs to the world. In April, they released the album's hypnotic title track. In early May, they played a searing and thoughtful rendition of "Bullet in the Brain" on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show. They also released a preacher-themed video for the Farfisa-assisted straight-ahead rocker "Fever," which featured Auerbach as a proselytizing zealot and Carney as his alcohol-chugging, gospel-reading sidekick; it also lists Rolling Stone's David Fricke as a $300 donor to their cause.
But the group didn't spend the time between records only writing songs. Auerbach has been producing music for Dr. John and Lana Del Rey, while Carney founded and has been producing a SiriusXM show. The duo also used its downtime to prank call the A&R department of its record label, Nonesuch, to try to get a deal for their "new age" band, Quartzazium. "It'll be our last gig until the spring solstice," one of them says, trying to convince the record exec to check Quartzazium out.
The group is set to perform at Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama on Friday, May 16th before appearing at numerous European festivals this summer.

My first post. Do I get a lemon cake?
Last March, early-00's boy band O-Town announced plans to reunite a decade after breaking up, and on Monday (May 5), the guys are giving fans a glimpse of their future plans with their first official new band photo in years.
"We started this reunion purely for the fun of it," O-Town's Jacob Underwood said last March. "We had discussed a summer tour to perform our old songs and finally give the fans what they’ve been asking us for the last 10 years. However, once we began working, what developed was something a little more ambitious. The ideas kept flying and we couldn’t help but start making new music."
That's right, O-Town will finally be following up their 2001 self-titled album and its follow-up "O2" with a new batch of music as a foursome (Ashley Parker Angel is not part of the reunited group). Watch this new video from the band's first new photo shoot to get a taste of the "Making The Band" veterans' personal chemistry:
O-Town's debut album spawned two Top 10 hits, "Liquid Dreams" and "All Or Nothing," and has sold 1.7 million copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. After a decade apart, the guys are hoping to recapture the magic that landed them on Top 40 radio years ago.
"We are blessed to be able to apply what we’ve learned to create something stimulating and beautiful, that we can call ours," said Underwood. "This isn’t just a reunion for us. It’s a new beginning."
It's official: Spike TV is returning to scripted programming.
The male-skewing cable network has given the green light to Tut, a six-hour miniseries first developed in September.
The Viacom-owned cabler made the announcement Monday, noting that the limited series is based on the story of Tutankhamun, otherwise known as King Tut.
The six-part drama combines the turmoil, power struggles, political backstabbing, war and murder that existed during King Tut's reign as the youngest Pharaoh to rule ancient Egypt. The series is based on recently discovered historical evidence about Tut.
"We are thrilled to join forces with Muse Entertainment and this incredible writing team to bring the amazing story of one of history's legendary leaders to life," Spike exec vp original series Sharon Levy said. "Tut is the perfect addition to our slate of distinctive originals that appeal to a broad audience."
Tut's formal description reads: "Tut reveals, for the first time on television, the story of the Egyptian Pharaoh, one of the most renowned leaders in human history. This ambitious special-event series tells the story of Tut's rise to power and his struggle to lead Egypt to glory, while his closest advisers, friends and lovers scheme for their own nefarious interests. Tut opens up a fascinating window into a world filled with heartbreaking romance, epic battles, political backstabbing, conspiracy, jealousy and even murder -- proving his world was not far removed from our own and that his reign as the youngest Egyptian king played out as a real-life drama for the ages."

While Andrew Garfield's turn hosting "Saturday Night Live" was widely praised, the "Weekend Update" part of the show didn't exactly sit well with some viewers.
Leslie Jones, one of the show's new writers, made an on-air appearance during Colin Josts' "Update" segment to talk about Lupita Nyong'o's "Most Beautiful" honor, but in the process she also made jokes about slavery — a topic resonant with Nyong'o's Oscar-winning film "12 Years A Slave" — that led to outrage on social media.
"Back in the slave days, I would have never been single," Jones said, after joking about being "Most Useful," as opposed to Nyong'o's "Most Beautiful" title.
"I'm 6 feet tall, and I'm strong, Colin. … I mean, look at me, I'm a mandingo."
Jost then asked Jones if she meant she'd "rather be a slave."
"I'm just saying that back in the slave days, my love life would have been way better," she said.
"Massah would have hooked me up with the best brotha on the plantation. … I would be the No. 1 slave draft pick. All of the plantations would want me."

Wondering where Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson was in The Amazing Spider-Man 2? Will we see her in Amazing Spider-Man 3?
When The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was in production, we were told that Shailene Woodley would play Mary Jane Watson. As the release got closer, it was revealed that Ms. Woodley's scenes as Mary Jane were cut from the film...which makes some sense, as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has its red-gloved hands full with the Peter/Gwen romance as it is. But now, Marc Webb has spoken out about what those Mary Jane scenes might have been like, and about the likelihood that we'll ever see Ms. Woodley in the role.
There was one little scene at the beginning where she is next door and it took place right around the montage where he comes back and there was another little moment between Gwen and MJ. But it just tipped over. The relationship between them [Peter and Gwen] is so sacred and so powerful, that it just didn't feel right. And it sucks because Shailene is such a f**king great actress and so cool and magical but it was just about having this obligation to this romance that I thought was sacred. It was just one of those things.
As for whether Shailene Woodley will return for another shot in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, Mr. Webb is less hopeful: "Well, Divergent is a massive hit and I think it's going to be tricky for schedules." He does, however, understand the importance of the character to the Spider-Man lore, and intends to introduce her in some form.
lol Marc is so obviously not big on MJ. I bet they do Peter/Felicia in TASM3 and only give MJ a glorified cameo.

But there was a small live comedy scene, and we thought a TV sketch show could be something our community would watch. We had no idea if it could cross over into the mainstream.
I was a performer-writer on [BBC comedy show] The Real McCoy, where Anil Gupta was script editor. I was thrilled to be working on it, but it was an African-Caribbean TV show, very culturally specific. So Anil and I started chatting about doing something similar about British Asians. He went away and got a team together and the BBC producer Jon Plowman helped us to do a live stage show.
This went so well we were asked to do a pilot for Radio 4. They gave us the graveyard slot: 11pm on a summer Friday. We knew British Asians wouldn't be listening then. It would be middle England. And there was an amazing reaction – I think it really made the BBC sit up. We were offered a radio series, then a TV pilot, then a TV series. But it wasn't easy. It was a long, hard slog.

Did any of you watch this? I didn't see all of it tbh. The stream was kind of a huge mess and I'm not paying 50 dollars for a dvd, sorry Misha. What I did see of it though was very.... unique and definitely shocked a few laughs out of me, though.
It can be quite difficult to imagine that the current A-list, Hollywood elite, performers who are enjoying fame, fortune, and are loved by fans around the world, could ever have once been bullied as children. FromSandra Bullock to Tyra Banks to Justin Timberlake, while growing up, these celebrities had to deal with what many children across the nation are struggling to cope with every single day: relentless teasing and tormenting thanks to their cruel peers.
But they have all risen above it in amazing ways, and we can only imagine how their bullies must feel about poking fun at them now. Check out these 12 celebrities who were once bullied as kids.
Were you ever bullied in school? Did you ever bully anyone else?
Before Porsha Williams thumped Kenya Moore, she thumped bibles -- ranting from the pulpit about gays and lesbians destined for an eternity in hell.
Video shot roughly 3 years ago at High Praise Christian Center Ministries in GA has just surfaced, showing Porsha preaching and rambling about saving hookers, drug dealers, people who attempt suicide ... and gays and lesbians.
She screams, "We're supposed to try and save them and tell them, ‘You are worthy!'" She doesn't stop there either ... you gotta see this.
We reached out to Porsha for comment -- so far, no word back.
Affleck arriving at a massage therapist's office recently with wife Jennifer Garner
LaineyGossip is strongly hinting that Ben Affleck has relapsed and is struggling with alcohol, prescription pill and gambling addictions.
The gossip blogger claims that, while there were already "signs," trouble really began when Affleck hurt his back while on a ski vacation in late 2013 and began to self-medicate. While wife Jennifer Garner "really tries to take care of him," Affleck is "messy" while attending Hollywood functions alone: "There have been times lately where he's been so drunk, he's the dude passed out on the couch when everyone else has gone home. Either that or he's the dude who's all over the tall, attractive model type."
Affleck previously admitted himself to rehab in August 2001, with his publicist commenting: "Ben is a self-aware and smart man who has decided that a fuller life awaits him without alcohol." In the week leading up to his admission to the Promises centre in Malibu, Affleck won $800,000 (and tipped waitresses and dealers a total of $150,000) while playing blackjack at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino during a Las Vegas trip with Matt Damon. Damon was later staying at Affleck's LA home when he made the decision to seek help for his addictions.
His 2001 rehab visit wasn't his first public reference to alcoholism. In a 1998 interview with USA Weekend, Affleck declared he had quit drinking: "I started regretting some things I did when I was drunk. It's funny to be obnoxious or out of control, but then it's like, 'I think I hurt that person's feelings. I made a fool of myself' or 'I didn't want to kiss that girl' ... Now it's kind of depressing to be bombed at 3 in the morning."
Affleck's own father struggled with alcoholism and gambling. His parents split when he was 11 and his father's life "sort of hit the skids when I was in my teens. It was difficult. When one's parent is an alcoholic, it's hard. It was a little scary and trying ... He sort of wrecked his life really badly. There was that model there for me of failure. Me feeling like, “I’m not going to do that. I’m not going to be him.'”

Sketch for the White House Correspondents Dinner
Michelle Obama also makes an appearance.
Baz Luhrmann is in negotiations to direct a forthcoming Elvis Presley biopic being written by Kelly Marcel (Saving Mr. Banks), The Wrap reports.
Warner Bros., who are behind the project, had no official comment, though the studio and producers have been in talks with Luhrmann for several weeks now. Sweetening the deal, Warner Bros. has reportedly scored the rights to the King of Rock and Roll's massive catalogue of music.
Details about the movie, however, are scarce. Marcel's script is completely original and not based on any pre-existing material, so it's unclear what part of Presley's life the movie would focus on. (As far as casting goes, might we suggest Jack White, who already portrayed the King in the biopic parody Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.)
Following the massive success of Luhrmann's last movie, The Great Gatsby — not to mention his extravagant directorial style that relies heavily on music — it's not surprising he's being courted for a film about Presley. Still, the director has his hands in several pots right now: He's supposedly in talks to direct an adaptation of the 1970s martial arts Western TV show Kung Fu, while simultaneously developing a miniseries on Napoleon for HBO.
who would you cast, ontd?
The fifth-seeded Washington Wizards and top-seeded Indiana Pacers will begin their Eastern Conference semifinal matchup Monday night in Indiana. The Wizards dropped both regular season games in Indiana — where they’ve lost 12 consecutive games dating from April 11, 2007 — before cruising to a win a Verizon Center in their third meeting.
Here are three keys to the outcome of the series:
Trevor Ariza vs. Paul George
George didn’t play particularly well against the Wizards this season, averaging 16.7 points on 32.7 percent shooting. Much of that credit goes to Ariza, whose length allows him to counter George on the defensive end and keep him from penetrating to the basket. Ariza’s ability to keep George out of the paint will also be critical on the other end of the floor, where the Pacers all-star has had his way on the boards against the Wizards with an average of nine per game. Just as important is Bradley Beal’s defense of triple-double threat Lance Stephenson, the other Indiana player capable of igniting the Pacers by attacking from the perimeter.

Ariana Grande's "Problem," featuring Iggy Azalea, is on track to score one of the biggest sales debuts ever for a digital song.
Industry forecasters suggest the tune may have sold more than 425,000 downloads in the week ending May 4. That would immediately place it among the top 10 biggest sales debuts ever, and perhaps the fourth-largest bow for a woman.
Its official sales figure, as compiled by Nielsen SoundScan, will be announced on Wednesday, May 7.
The largest ever debut for a song, according to SoundScan, was when Flo Rida's "Right Round" bowed with 636,000 downloads in the week ending Feb. 15, 2009. (SoundScan began tracking downloads in the summer of 2003, shortly after Apple's iTunes Music Store launched on April 28 of that year.)
"Problem" could also earn the 20-year old Grande the fourth-largest start for a woman, behind the launches of Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" (623,000), Katy Perry's "Roar" (557,000) and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" (448,000). "Roar" is also the last song, overall, to have debuted with more than 400,000 downloads.
Further, Grande -- at 20-years old -- will become the youngest woman to debut with more than 400,000 downloads.
"Problem" is the first single from Grande's upcoming second album, which is due out in either August or September. The song was commercially released on Monday, April 28.

CNN) -- At first it may seem "24's" Jack Bauer didn't get the memo.
In 2014, our heroes now wear capes and fight the bad guys at the box office, while the small screen has been taken over by a gang of antiheroes. From "Scandal" and "Mad Men" to "Breaking Bad" and "House of Cards," the recent slate of leading men aren't as interested in saving the world as they are in saving themselves.
Yet on Monday night (May 5), counterterrorism agent Bauer will return in Fox's "24" event series, "24: Live Another Day." He's once again played by Kiefer Sutherland and is as determined as ever to do the right thing.
Those around Bauer may question which side he's on, but viewers have always known him as the guy willing to do anything (and we mean anything) for what he sees as the greater good. In a TV world filled with monsters and Heisenbergs, where does Bauer fit in?
In a sense, the 12-episode "24: Live Another Day" is asking that very question. When "24" ended in 2010, Bauer was still alive but a fugitive. In its two-hour premiere, "24: Live Another Day" picks up four years later with a hardened, angrier Bauer living in exile as a presumed threat to the U.S. government.
"He's actually working on his own, but the people that he's trying to help are actually hunting him and they're trying to either kill him or arrest him," Sutherland told CNN in a press call. "He's had to hide in Eastern Europe for four years. He's been estranged from his daughter and grandchildren, he has not been able to go back to the country that he feels he served. That kind of isolation has made him really hard."
And yet, as executive producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto point out, he'll still jump at the chance to stop another attempt on a president's life without asking, as many of our favorite characters would today, what's in it for him.
"Jack is an individual who has saved his country numerous times and now that country has turned his back on him," Coto said. "On the outside (he's) changed and has a darker view of humanity and the people around him, but at his core has maintained his love of country and what he's always fought for."
That core is undoubtedly part of what made audiences root for the impossibly unstoppable federal agent when "24" debuted in 2001. With a premiere date that came just weeks after the September 11 attacks, "24" greeted TV viewers badly in need of a hero.

With Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Marvel advances the story of WWII super-soldier Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), now a key player with S.H.I.E.L.D. but also struggling to come to terms with his modern-day transposition.
Directors Anthony and Joe Russo created a number of challenging settings and sequences that introduced a new character – the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). Many of these sequences would call on the innovative services of visual effects supervisor Dan Deleeuw and visual effects producer Jen Underdahl and their teams of effects artists, including locating S.H.I.E.L.D.’s new headquarters on the Potomac River, crafting a digital make-up solution to depict ‘Old Peggy’, delivering a digital arm for the Winter Soldier, and bringing to life the flying Falcon character and orchestrating the flight – and destruction – of three massive new Helicarriers.
In this article, we explore several of the major shots and sequences in the film, focusing on the visual effects by ILM, Scanline, Lola VFX, Luma Pictures, Whiskytree, The Embassy and the previs completed by Proof.

Heretofore presumed to be a lock for the 2014-15 TV season and produced as a pilot with a series commitment, Fox’s Gotham has now officially been ordered to series, it was announced on Monday.
Fronted by Southland‘s Ben McKenzie (as police detective James Gordon), Gotham is currently described as “an origin story of the great DC Comics super-villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told.”
If Michelle Obama and Anna Wintour are at the same event, you already know something pretty fabulous is happening. On Monday morning, FLOTUS and other fashionable celebrities came together to honor the Vogue editor-in-chief before the ribbon cutting of the new Anna Wintour Costume Center.
The event, held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, was attended by tons of stylish celebrities, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane Von Furstenberg, Donatella Versace, Calvin Klein, Tory Burch, Victoria Beckham, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Alexander Wang and Ralph Lauren — you know, just casual affair. However, Obama led the ceremony, and praised Wintour for her numerous contributions to fashion.

Dane DeHaan talks about his transformation into the 'hipster' Green Goblin for this weekend’s superhero blockbuster, 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2.'
Like many of us, Dane DeHaan grew up pretending to be Spider-Man. He wore Spider-Man onesie pajamas to bed when he was a little boy. He dressed as the crime-fighting web slinger for Halloween, too. He has distinct memories of watching Tobey Maguire play the role in Sam Raimi’s film trilogy while he was in high school—and loving them.
So when it was announced that the superhero would be hitting the big screen again in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, just seven years after Spider-Man 3, DeHaan had one reaction. “I wanted to be in it,” he says. “And I wanted to be Spider-Man.”

Donald Sterling made racist comments about everyone from Beyonce to Charles Barkley ... if you believe an ex-Clippers "janitor" who filed for a restraining order against Sterling -- except no one in their right mind would believe this guy.
TMZ obtained a copy of the court doc filed Friday by a Cliff Paul (yes, like the State Farm commercial) who claims he is ... related to Chris Paul, a former janitor for Sterling, and was technically savvy enough to bug Sterling's office for years. You get the picture ... this sounds like a crazy person.
In the doc, he claims to have heard Sterling have hyper-racist convos about Beyonce, Chris Paul, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kim Kardashian -- and most of the language alleged in the document is far too racist to even repeat.
Some tame examples -- Sterling allegedly said Charles Barkley's head looks like a "retread tire" ... and when George Zimmerman was acquitted, he allegedly said ... "Buy that guy a beer." According to the docs Sterling even went to an IHOP with Paula Deen just to laugh at Black dishwashers.
Not shockingly ... the absurd request for a restraining order was quickly denied in a Florida District Court.
No word if this will affect Cliff's contract with State Farm.

Basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said Sunday that white Americans so disregard the ongoing existence of racism that they’re more likely to believe in ghosts.
“More whites believe in ghosts than believe in racism,” Abdul-Jabbar, a former center for the Los Angeles Lakers, told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on Sunday. ”That’s why we have shows like Ghostbusters and don’t have shows like Racistbuster. You know, it’s something that’s still part of our culture and people hold on to some of these ideas and practices just out of habit and saying that, well, that’s the way it always was. But things have to change.”
The panel was discussing Donald Sterling, the white billionaire owner of the LA Clippers who was banned for life from the National Basketball Association after a recording of him making racist remarks about blacks was leaked to the media.

Where do I start with Mariah Carey?
Musically, Mariah Carey's had a tough run of late. Her long-delayed upcoming album, now titled Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse, was slated to come out last spring before being pushed back several times. With one exception, its would-be lead singles failed to make a significant dent on the charts. Just a few weeks ago it sounded like Carey might pull a "Beyonce", and spring the album on us unawares, judging from a confusing interview she gave to Billboard.
Then last week, the album's release date, May 27, was finally confirmed by a teaser that is as strange and rambling as the album's title. The announcement has been called "weird", "insane", "bizarre", and "ridiculous", descriptors that are rarely far away when Carey comes up these days. If you're not a long-time fan, or are only familiar with Carey's current public persona, it's easy to see how such an awkward promotional move would elicit little more than an eye roll.

Do you miss the old Miley Cyrus or simply need brief respite from the marijuana-fuelled, thong-rocking shenanigans of the Bangerz era? Well, you’re in luck! Over the weekend a previously unreleased demo from the glory days of Hannah Montana surfaced online and, despite its obvious rawness, it’s something of a jam.
“Beach Weekend” is a perky pop/rock anthem that positively exudes sunshine and happiness. “Every day up before the sun’s up, quick shower then dress and head to Starbucks,” chirps Miley over strummed guitars before the cheery chorus kicks in: “we’re going to beach this weekend!” I’m not sure what album this was recorded for but Smilers seem to agree that 2007′s Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus is the most likely candidate. Listen after the jump.
“Beach Weekend” is now streaming on Twerk Girl’s Tumblr. Let us know if the song put a smile on your face in the comments below.
Hilary Duff was spotted shopping in Beverly Hills today
Hilary Duff is coming clean about her upcoming album, her first LP since Dignity 7 years ago. And it turns out, Ed Sheeran will be involved.
“I’m working with a lot of people. I’m still writing, so that process is still going on,” she told MTV News on the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Awards red carpet. Hilary’s working with songwriters and producers like Lindy Robbins and Toby Gad, along with Savan Kotecha, who has written for artists like One Direction and most recently penned Ariana Grande’s “Problem.”
Wearing an orange pout and voluptuous top knot, the singer/actress and mom of 2-year-old Luca was hyped to be talking about her new project, supposedly out in the fall. In fact, she was so hyped that while she was rattling off details, she casually slipped a HUGE detail.
“I’m cutting an Ed Sheeran song next week, which I’m really excited about,” she said while listing everything about her new music, including that a single should be out “soon.”
Wait, rewind. Ed Sheeran?? Yes!
Describing the album as an “earthy, indie-pop vibe,” Duff explained what it means to be returning to the studio after taking a hiatus from releasing music.
“It feels good to be in the studio. It feels good to be talking about my last few years — the high points and the low points,” she said. “I really just want to be honest and be an open book for my fans to know where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing, how I feel and all that good stuff. So, I should have a single soon, and an album by the fall.”
It’s a lot to take in, but there’s so much to look forward to. Hilary fans, rejoice!
