Weekend Sports Round-up

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana salvaged its season Saturday by reverting to form: its first-half form.

Paul George scored a career playoff-high 30 points, Lance Stephenson added 19 and Roy Hibbert finally came up big against the more nimble Atlanta Hawks as the Pacers survived a first-round scare with a 92-80 victory in the decisive seventh game.

Two days after staving off elimination in Atlanta, the top-seeded Pacers did it again and advanced to a second-round series against Washington that starts Monday in Indiana.

"We know what we want to get to and we know what our journey is," George said.

Though they have a quick turnaround, at least the Pacers get a brief respite from the problems and distractions that lingered during the series.

Indiana, the NBA's best home team during the regular season, twice gave away home-court advantage by losing Games 1 and 5. Those losses sparked public debate about what needed to change in the offseason and whether coach Frank Vogel would even return if the Pacers became the sixth No. 1 seed to lose in the first round since the league went to its current 16-team playoff format.

Atlanta's spread offense and 3-point shooters had Indiana's normally stout defense scrambling for answers after the Hawks took a 3-2 lead Monday night.

Hibbert, an All-Star center, was a non-factor with just 20 points in the first six games combined.

'Pretty Wild's Alexis Neiers' New Parenting Blog Proves She's Matured(we shall see) in a Big Way.

Bling Ring inspiration Alexis Neiers wants you to know that she wasn’t wearing Louboutins at her court hearing in 2010. Seriously. She wasn’t. How do I know that she’s still talking about which shoes she was wearing to court? Because I’m currently reading her mommy blog. Yes, Alexis Neiers (also known by her married name, Alexis Haines) has a mommy blog. And it’s just one of the signs that this girl has certainly changed.

Despite her continued insistence on her shoes being “little brown Bebe shoes,” (and not Louboutins as Nancy Jo Sales claimed) I’m finding it hard to hate on Neiers. In fact, the only response I have from my research on this young woman is that she really does seem to be bettering herself. The former Pretty Wild reality star may have been a symbol of millennial narcissism (just check out Emma Watson’s portrayal of her in The Bling Ring, Sofia Coppola’s take on the Hollywood burglaries) but today, she seems much more centered. Her current focus is on raising her daughter, Harper (whom is featured heavily on her new blog in adorable outfits) and volunteering in drug rehabilitation facilities. It’s a far cry from the pole-dancing, phone-screaming young woman we saw going wild on E!

Day 13 and 15 on CRIMSON PEAK set

CRIMSON PEAK, Sunday, April 27, Day 15: Short weekend, only Saturday off, as we moved to a night-shooting schedule and transferred our location to Hamilton, Ontario. The lack of rest isn't doing this lingering cough any good, and my voice is raspy, feeling and sounding like the effects of sandpaper. Guillermo says he can't hear a difference, but I can. I can't hit my low notes. It's funny how a low voice can mask insecurities! The absence of true baritone in my voice tonight sounds girlish to me in my head. But if no one else is noticing, perhaps it will be fine. I worry a bit about matching my sound in other scenes. But then, the floors of this old house we're filming in creak so much that we will surely be looping (redubbing) all the dialog later anyway.

Post Secret Is Now A Theater Production : A Review aka POST SECRET POST

Prior to last week's opening of PostSecret: The Show at Booth Playhouse, the only theatre production I'd ever seen based on a website was My First Time, which I first disliked Off-Broadway in 2008 before a less repellent version played here at Actor's Theatre in 2010. So the idea of transforming a website into a stage presentation is neither new nor thunderously popular. But the new show, workshopped in Cincinnati and presented by Blumenthal Performing Arts, is a far worthier enterprise - and it doesn't misrepresent the site that inspired it. was - and is - a salacious site whose seasoned users are likely to take voyeuristic pleasure in the reminiscences posted there, while newbies might be motivated to lose their virginities post haste. Ken Davenport not only dredged up a few tender and romantic posts from what he must have perceived as a cesspool of thousands, he gave his gleanings a decidedly Christian tang that decried and punished pre-marital sex. Quite a hoot when you see that the homepage bears the Playboy Bunny seal of approval.

In The Flesh Series Two Premiere Tonight

We can’t get enough of the undead, as proven by the return of this popular BAFTA-nominated zombie drama.

Back for a gripping second series, it follows the group of PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome) sufferers who, nine months since tragedy struck, have now been tentatively accepted into the small community of Roarton.

Kieren Walker (Luke Newberry) is even doing shifts at the Legion pub, and is pleased at the return of his BDFF – best dead friend forever – Amy Dyer (Emily Bevan).

But trouble is brewing from the pro-living party, Victus.

Emmett Scanlan, who played baddie Brendan Brady in Hollyoaks for three years, is joining the cast as Simon, a charismatic disciple of the Undead Prophet.

“Doing the show was a no-brainer for me, no pun intended,” laughs the 35-year-old.

“I’m a zombie fan, and most actors want to be in a vampire series or movie.”

After this, Emmett is off to film series two of BBC’s drama The Fall, due this autumn.

First series was brilliant! I predict a lot of tears as the second series goes on. The first series finale left me a mess.

Physical Assaultney?!

A dancer claims a disheveled and confused Britney Spears backhanded her in the face during a rehearsal, and Brit was so heartless ... she didn't even stop the rehearsal.

Dancer Dawn Noel will file a lawsuit Monday ... claiming she was hired to shoot the music video for "Work Bitch." Dawn says on August 19, she showed up at the rehearsal studio in Woodland Hills, CA. She and the other dancers perfected their moves for several hours, and then Britney arrived.

Dawn says Brit showed up "in a disheveled and confused state," and had considerable difficulty executing even basic moves.

Dawn claims she was standing off to Britney's side, when the singer twirled while unbalanced, extending her hands and SMACKING Dawn in the face.

Dawn says the impact was so forceful, everyone in the room heard a cracking sound. Dawn says she was in excruciating pain, but all Britney said was, "I'm sorry," and then continued the rehearsal.

Dawn claims after a half hour she couldn't take the pain and went to a doctor, who told her she had a nasal bone fracture and needed surgery.

Dawn claims Britney's people promised to pay the med bills, but after months of waiting she was told to pound sand. So Dawn's lawyer Sark Ohanian from Carpenter, Zuckerman & Rowley will file a lawsuit Monday against Britney.

We called Britney's people ... so far, no comment.

New Sex Abuse Lawsuit Filed Against Bryan Singer

The defendants deny the claims in the new suit, filed by the same lawyer who filed four other suits in the past two weeks.

An anonymous British teenager has filed suit against Bryan Singer and Gary Goddard, alleging that they both sexually assaulted him.

The suit, filed by the same attorney who filed child sex abuse suits in recent weeks on behalf of Michael Egan against Singer and three others, alleges that Goddard contacted the teen via social media when he was 14, and that nude webcam sessions followed. Later, according to the suit, when the teen was 15 or 16, Goddard had sex with him. Singer had sex with him at a Superman after afterparty in a London hotel room when the plaintiff was 17, according to the suit. The boy resisted, but Goddard brought in a “large, musclebound man” who began to smack the teenager around, says the suit.

Joanne Harris, author of Chocolat: "Why do people assume women writers owe their success to a man?"

Capitalize This.

Another day, another lazy assumption. This time it’s someone on Twitter, describing himself as a reviewer and would-be author, making a passing comment about THE GOSPEL OF LOKI.

I’m not going to point anyone in the direction of the tweeter. He isn’t the first to say something crass, and I’m sure he didn’t mean his remark to be as insulting and dismissive as it sounded. However, the tweet (which was also posted on Goodreads) went as follows:

“Reading The Gospel of Loki. Capitalizing on the fandom of Tom Hiddleston I imagine.”

Perhaps it got me on a bad day. Writers sometimes have them too. Perhaps it was just one too many reader assumptions. Either way, it pissed me off more than such comments usually do.

Avengers game will happen “when we have the right partner," Marvel boss says

The Avengers won’t spawn a video game adaptation until Marvel can find a developer willing to do it right, according to executive TQ Jefferson.

Jefferson’s comments follow another interview in which he said Marvel is aiming for fewer, smarter licensed games now that it enjoys enough mainstream success to choose its partners.

“The Avengers game will come when we have the right partner, that has the right vision, that has the time to develop a strong, competitive triple-A title and wants to do it right,” he told IGN.

First look at "Fury" starring Brad Pitt, Logan Lerman & Shia LaBeouf

Brad Pitt means serious business in his new film. The 50-year-old actor stars as a U.S. Army sergeant called "Wardaddy" in Fury, a World War II film that hits theaters Nov. 14.

"He's playing this badass, hard, tough, intense guy," director David Ayer tells PEOPLE. "It's a different kind of role for him."

Pitt leads a cast that includes Shia LaBeouf, Michael Peña and Percy Jackson's Logan Lerman. The group spent much of the 68-day shoot over three-and-a-half months in a confined setting to depict the story of a U.S. Army tank behind enemy lines.

"I set out to make the ultimate tank movie," Ayer says.

Although LaBeouf has made headlines for his unusual behavior in the past, Ayer said he had no issues with the actor.

"He's insanely good in this thing," says Ayer. "He's a joy to work with and I can't wait to work with him again."

But the film's biggest stars may just be the ones made of metal, including an authentic German Tiger tank on loan from a museum.

"I couldn't tell you how much insurance this thing had on it – it was crazy," says Ayer. "It actually ended up performing really well. It's like the tank was happy to get out of the barn and run around. These tanks like to run hard. That's what they're built for."

Bill O'Reilly Sounds Off on Beyonce Being Chosen for 'Time' Top 100 Cover

Bill O'Reilly sounded off to ET's Rob Marciano about Beyonce being on the cover of Time magazine's annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.

When Rob asks the host of the highly rated FOX News show The O'Reilly Factor whether he thinks Beyonce is a good role model for empowering women, he responds, "Beyonce empowers no one but herself." He adds: "She is a brilliant artist -- a gift from God. I heard her sing The Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl and it was smashing."

But Bill took issue with the R&B star's approach to producing music and performing for fans. "She must know that what she does, young girls pay attention to. Therefore, if she puts out product that is licentious, permissive, that's gonna bleed down into the children. I say to her, we expect more. You can put out good product, uplifting product, and be as successful."

"I really don't think Beyonce has to put out this kind of stuff, I don't think it empowers anyone, I think it's a rationalization, but that's just my point of view."

When Rob asks Bill if he agrees with Time's decision to put Beyonce on the cover of its Top 100 issue, he responded, "I have no beef with Beyonce being on a list or making money or being whatever she wants to be. America's a great country that gives people, talented people like Beyonce, the opportunity to be successful."

The TV host added: "But I wish she would listen to me. President Obama initiated "My Brother's Keeper," it's a fantastic program and I hope Beyonce will look at it and help it... When I see someone talented who I think could help the kids and isn't, then I have to step in."

Google pays tribute to Audrey Hepburn for her 85th birthday

A pink, black and white illustration honors the actress on what would have been her 85th birthday

Audrey Hepburn died of cancer in 1993, but her stunning visage lives on, primarily through posters in college dorm rooms. But today, on what would have been her 85th birthday, it lives on through a Google Doodle.

The image was adapted from a 1956 black and white photograph taken by Yousuf Karsh, artist Jennifer Hom explains in a Google blog post. The Doodle team rotated through several options (which you can see here) but ultimately settled on the above image because it showcases the actress’s beauty and grace along with her passion for humanitarian work.

“Finding the right solution for someone as timeless as Audrey proved a tricky task,” Hom writes. “Not only was she a classically beautiful actress, she also dedicated her life to philanthropy. I wanted to show both sides of her life’s work.”

“Star Wars” is a phenomenon like no other, having spawned a cross-platform universe that includes seven movies and seven TV spin-offs (including one ill-fated Holiday Special), and of course, the upcoming and recently cast “Star Wars: Episode VII.” What better way to celebrate this holiest of “Star Wars” days then by ranking every single one of them?
