'Masters of Sex' Cast Takes Jabs at 'Game of Thrones,' Talks Awkward Moments on Set

Assembled for a TV Academy panel, the cast and creators of the Showtime series revealed how they do sex scenes and gender equality right, and why most other TV shows do not.

Allison Janney was on board to join Showtime's period drama Masters of Sex, that is until the creators told her she may actually have to have sex.

"Do you know I old I am?" she recalled of her response at a Television Academy panel Tuesday night.
The 54 year-old actress revealed that adjusting to the role was a challenge at first. "But then..." she laughed, gesturing to her attractive 37-year-old on-screen sex partner Teddy Sears seated next to her on stage.

Over the course of the hour-long discussion, the show's cast and creators dished on difficult season one sex scenes, took digs at Game of Thrones and delved into deeper cultural issues of acceptance and equality.
Below are seven highlights from the evening:

The Following closed out its second season Monday night with a finale that closed some chapters, left several people dead, and had an ending that, executive producer Marcos Siega says, was always meant to be a taste of something different.

In the conversation below, Siega opens up about said finale, telling us who’s really dead, what we’ll see more of next season, why they filmed two endings, and why fans’ reaction to the ending surprised him and creator Kevin Williamson.

Warpaint Complains About Beyonce's Feminism With Misogynistic Opinions

Q’s Sylvia Patterson heads out on the road with Warpaint in our new issue – Q335 out now – and band have a few words for today’s pop icons.

Speaking as they toured the US, the West Coast four-piece consider the ‘hyper-sexualisation’ of mainstream music and the way some female singers have chosen to portray themselves.

“She [Rihanna] has an insane voice, she could’ve done something so much more subtle and artful,” suggests the Warpaint’s Theresa Wayman, who also was dismayed by Beyonce’s recent adoption of twerking.

“It just gets worse,” she adds. “Every song on Beyonce’s last album has her basically looking like a slut and she does not need to do that. She’s gorgeous and so fucking talented. And they all take it as women’s liberation!”

Yassss, reinforce those ingrained societal gender rules, Warpaint!  And it never fails that the black female artists are the first to be criticized.

Theresa Wayman of Warpaint Backtracks Like a Motherfu...err, Responds to Q Magazine Controversy

First and foremost, I want to apologize with regards to the Q article. There were many long conversations behind that statement and it's heartbreaking and painful to see it presented in such a hyperbolic and crude manner. We LOVE and ADORE Beyonce and Rihanna, genuinely, and that's what makes this all the more difficult.

A journalist came on our bus and casually asked us what we thought about women in music and we responded as fans and consumers and not as card carrying feminists. Not as anybody with power or influence either. We're not trying to start a war, no fucking way. We would be crushed like little lady flies.

Jared Leto on Music Streaming

The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman tells THR of his updated music biz perspective since wrapping his doc "Artifact," which aired Saturday on VH1.

After nabbing a slew of acting awards for his turn as transgender drug addict Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club, Jared Leto is refocusing on music. But before Thirty Seconds to Mars’ recently announced US summer tour, the legal battles of the band’s past were fully rehashed, when Leto’s music biz documentary Artifact aired Saturday on VH1 and Palladia.

While Artifact outlines 30STM’s tug-of-war with EMI — the band’s manager Irving Azoff, Incubus’ Brandon Boyd and Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington expand on their own music biz battles, and 30STM bandmates Shannon Leto and Tomo Milicevic also share their musical journeys — the film doesn’t touch on a thorny topic that irk musicians today: streaming. Recently, American Idol label 19 Recordings filed a suit against Sony Music for at least $10 million in damages, part of which is rooted in the alleged underpayment of streaming royalties for hits from Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry and more Idol alumni. Over the last year, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, Atoms for Peace’s Nigel Godrich, David Byrne and Steven Tyler are among the many who have voiced their concerns over streaming services’ inadequate royalty payments, and Bette Midler tweeted earlier this month that Pandora paid her $114.11 for more than 4 million song spins over a three-month period.

Adèle Exarchopoulos & Logan Lerman to Receive Chopard Trophy at Cannes

Adèle Exarchopoulos can soon add another Cannes trophy to her collection. The young French actress, who jointly won the Palme d’Or award last year with director Abdellatif Kechiche and her costar Léa Seydoux for the lesbian coming-of-age drama “Blue Is the Warmest Color,” will be the female recipient of the annual Trophée Chopard this year.

Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett is to hand over the prize, which recognizes up-and-coming talent, to Exarchopoulos and “Percy Jackson” star Logan Lerman at a ceremony at the Hôtel Martinez in Cannes, France, on May 15.

The winners were selected by a jury including Colin Firth; Harvey Weinstein; Atom Egoyan; Lee Daniels; Steve Gaydos, executive editor of Variety, and Caroline Scheufele, copresident of Chopard. Previous winners of the award, now in its 14th edition, include Marion Cotillard, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Diane Kruger. Chopard also makes the Palme d’Or bestowed on the winning film at Cannes.

Exarchopoulos has won a slew of awards in the last year, including the prize for Most Promising Actress at the César Awards, France’s equivalent to the Oscars. The 20-year-old appeared alongside Seydoux in Miu Miu’s 2014 resort ad campaign and has attended fashion shows by Miu Miu, Valentino, Louis Vuitton and Dior Homme.

Ellen Degeneres Congratulates Ellen Page On Coming Out: "I Am So Proud"

The two biggest Ellens in the LGBT world have united. On Wednesday (April 30), Ellen Page joined Ellen DeGeneres to talk about her brave “coming out” speech at the HRC’s “Time To Thrive” conference back in February.

“I am so proud of you for coming out, and I am so happy for you,” DeGeneres said. “I know what a scary thing that is.”

Page was humbled by the compliment, and remained visually struck by her own words after a small clip of the speech was aired, saying “I think my biggest fear of doing it was having a panic attack, quite frankly. I was just so ready to do it, and so excited to do it.”

Page said DeGeneres was as a source of strength and inspiration, bringing up Ellen’s difficult coming out story from the ’90s.

“[I'm] grateful to you, because you did it in a time when it was much harder and much scarier,” Page said. “I knew I would be a happier person. I knew I was going to feel better … It’s really been quite extoradinary to feel the shift.”

In a recent interview with Flare magazine, the actress spoke out about pressure from Hollywood to remain hidden.

“You hear things like, ‘People shouldn’t know about your life because you’re creating an illusion on-screen.’ But I don’t see other actresses going to great lengths to hide their heterosexuality. That’s an unfair double standard.”

Overall, Page rates her coming out experience as a positive one. She’s received mountains of support from the LGBT community and beyond.

“I expected so much more hate,” she told Flare. “It was just remarkably positive, which is beautiful, because it’s indicative of the change that’s happening.”

Disney Channel's The Descendants has found its Maleficent.

Broadway, television and film star Kristin Chenoweth will play the iconic character in the live-action original TV movie centered on a group of Disney villains' teenage kids, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Expect Chenoweth's Maleficent to butt horns with her onscreen daughter Mal, played by Liv and Maddie's Dove Cameron. Rounding out the ensemble cast thus far is Booboo Stewart, Sofia Carson, Cameron Boyce and Mitchell Hope.

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is April's most downloaded movie

And no, it's not a DVDrip version

It's no secret that Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie is clearly one of the studio's best movies to date, and even movie pirates are loving it as Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the most downloaded movie of April 2014.

Torrentfreak reported that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the most downloaded movie right now, after being the 5th most downloaded movie a couple of weeks ago when the prize belonged to the animated film "Son of Batman".

It's interesting to note that it is the CAM version of Captain America: The Winter Soldier that is getting a ton of downloads as the BRrip and DVDrip of the movie isn't even out yet. Is the movie really that good that people are willing to download a CAMrip of the movie and share it with a lot of people? Apparently.

And how many of YOU desperate souls added to that number, hmm??

First X-Men: Days Of Future Past clip pits Jennifer Lawrence against Peter Dinklage

The first clip from X-Men: Days Of Future Past has arrived online, in which Mystique infiltrates Boliver Trask's briefing on his latest anti-mutant gadget.

The fact that said gadget is a Mutant Finder means that her cover doesn't last for long, but by that point, she's already where she needs to be to raise some hell…

Wolverine has his claws, Magneto his metal-manipulating powers, but Mystique? Well she just kicks ass with her bare hands…

Take a look at the new clip, below…

It's a scene that's reminiscent of the explosive Nightcrawler assault on the Oval Office from X:2, which is certainly no bad thing. No wonder poor old Trask is cowering in that corner.

Directed by Bryan Singer and co-starring Jennifer Lawrence, Peter Dinklage and Hugh Jackman, X-Men: Days Of Future Past will open in the UK on 22 May 2014.

A Seyfried looking perfect on Elle UK (June)

Forget Mean Girls – Amanda Seyfried is ELLE’s girl this month.

Shot for the cover of our new June issue by Kai Z Feng, the ice-cool actress kicks back in a Melissa Odabash bikini and textured jacket by Roberto Cavalli, while inside she models summer-ready looks by designers including Saint Laurent, Isabel Marant, Michael Kors and Chloé.

She also talks candidly about sex, food and therapy in what can only be described as our most unexpected interview ever.

‘I would be lying if I said I wasn’t constantly aware of what I’m doing with my body,’ tells us. ‘I don’t have to look like a supermodel. I don’t have to have those abs – the camera doesn’t see that.

‘But because we have all been designed to want these things, I’m a victim of this stuff, too.’

But she’s pretty brave about facing down what strangers have to say about her. A prolific Twitterer herself, she doesn’t shy away from the comments of others.

‘Sometimes I read the feed where people are talking about me,’ she admits. ‘I want to see what people have posted.

‘Like, if I have a weird conversation with someone in the street and they take a picture of me, sometimes I want to see whether they put it online – it’s stupid, I shouldn’t really.

‘I have a healthy curiosity.’

Who Might Replace Craigy Ferg?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Finding Craig Ferguson's time-slot heir won't be so simple. In an interview after The Late Late Show host's April 28 reveal that he will step down in December, CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler tells THR she has no frontrunner lined up and remains focused on the 11:35 p.m. changing of the guard.

"Obviously, it's an incredibly valuable time period," says Tassler of 12:35, admitting her phone is ringing with pitches. "We haven't really thought about it yet. We want to let this sink in." Ferguson's eight-month heads-up, a decision he is said to have made after floating an exit with the June expiration of his contract, offers CBS time and less pressure. Tassler says a replacement will not be chosen ahead of the network's May 14 upfront presentation, nor have conversations on The Late Late Show's future taken place.

Names already floated for Late Late Show -- which likely will relaunch during the first quarter of 2015 and be produced exclusively by CBS without Letterman shingle Worldwide Pants -- include many of the suspects tossed around for Letterman's job. CBS shot down outgoing E! host Chelsea Handler's public push for the gig. But actress, comedian and The Talk panelist Aisha Tyler already is on the CBS payroll and her hiring would mark a change of pace for a pool occupied exclusively by white men. "It is a part of every conversation we have, every decision we make," says Tassler of diversity, though not Tyler specifically. "In that regard, it will be a part of this conversation as well."

Rita Ora Takes It Off for Terry Richardson

Rita Ora is getting risqué in a new photo shoot for Terry Richardson. The blonde bombshell strips down in the black-and-white photos, which the photographer shared on his blog. Wearing only a sheer bra, she flashes the camera with her hands tucked in her pants.

In another provocative photo, the “I Will Never Let You Down” singer goes completely topless, covering her breasts with her hands and Richardson’s flannel shirt. She also wears his glasses and gives the thumbs up in his signature pose.

On Tuesday, Rita played an intimate show at The Box in NYC and debuted some new songs off her upcoming sophomore album including “Get a Little Closer” and “Last Love.”

Due in September, the follow-up to her 2012 debut features contributions from DJ Mustard, Diplo, Macklemore, and Prince.

Another company drops Terry Richardson

If you weren’t already won over by the insanely cheap shoes, the adorable throw pillows, and the clean-smelling aisles full of girly junk, Target has just given you a pretty good reason to love them. Following in Vogue‘s footsteps, the store has decided to end its relationship with Terry Richardson.

“We worked with Terry on a campaign for one of our limited-edition collaborations,” Target spokesman Joshua Thomas said in an email. “We have no plans to work with him in the future.

Good. Considering how many people have continued to support Richardson financially in the midst of all this controversy, it’s a relief to see someone is taking a stand. I tend to take the cover-my-ears-and-sing-loudly approach to news about Richardson– not because I support him in any way, but because I’m so totally convinced that he’s dangerous that I’m sick of seeing people give his work the time of day. If you’re like me and you need a refresher about what’s going on, model Emma Appleton came forward this week with a screencap of a text message that allegedly shows Richardson offering her a Vogue shoot in exchange for sex. Add this to the stories from numerous other models who’ve made similar claims, and it seems pretty darn likely that this guy is a worthless piece of shit. It makes me proud to know that I waste most of my money on fancy waffle irons and cheap tote bags from a store that doesn’t actively support sex abuse against models.

NAACP president defends Donald Sterling, he has "contributed to a lot of minority charities"

The president of the local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People on Monday defended now-cancelled plans to honor Donald Sterling, saying the Clippers’ owner has a record of giving money to charities and helping African American students and children.

Facing a barrage of questions from reporters, Leon Jenkins, president of the Los Angeles NAACP, said Sterling had been chosen to receive a lifetime achievement award because of his work with minorities.

“Mr. Sterling’s organization, on a consistent basis has brought in numerous minorities and inner city kids to games,” Jenkins said. “Almost every game, there is a section where there are young people. He has also, in the years we looked at, contributed to a lot of minority charities, including the NAACP.”

“We looked at comparing that with all of the other L.A. (sports) franchises. His organization gave more money to the minority community,” Jenkins added.

'Sharknado 3' to Take a Bite Out of Summer 2015

It seems that the skies will be full of sharks for the foreseeable future: Syfy has greenlit "Sharknado 3."

The network, which ended up with an unexpected hit on its hands when the first "Sharknado" flick aired last summer, hasn't even broadcast the second film in the franchise yet ("Sharknado 2: The Second One" is due out in July). But the social media sensation -- and handsome return on a paltry $250,000 investment in the first film -- was too much for Syfy to ignore, and the network is capitalizing on the campy concept's so-bad-it's-good popularity.

Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, who starred in "Sharknado," are back for the follow-up, and according to Adweek, they're expected to return for the third installment, too, provided they don't fall victim to any airborne shark attacks. The first film was set in Los Angeles, and the second is set in New York City; the location of the threequel is being kept under wraps for now, though it will be in a different city.

We're not sure if either "Sharknado" sequel will feature any scenes half as ridiculous/awesome as Ziering diving into a shark chainsaw-first and hacking his way out, like he did in the original, but we'll certainly be tuning in to find out.

"Sharknado 2" premieres on Syfy on July 30. "Sharknado 3" is set for a summer 2015 release.

Whatever. Sharknado will never be as magestic as this bb.

Further showcasing her acting credentials, the 25-year-old went on to star in subsequent indies Silent House, Kill Your Darlings and Spike Lee's rework of the Japanese film Oldboy, proving exactly why she's hot on Hollywood's radar right now.

Naya Rivera Dropped From Columbia Records

While conflicting reports surface about her "Glee" future, Rivera's relationship with her record label has ended.

Naya Rivera is no longer on the Columbia Records roster, multiple sources have confirmed to The "Glee" star signed with the label in 2011, and did not release a full-length with Columbia.

The 27-year-old, who plays Santana Lopez on the hit Fox series, was one of the first "Glee" actors to land a solo record deal, and announced plans to begin work on an album in summer 2011. Last September, "Sorry," Rivera's debut single featuring then-boyfriend Big Sean, was released; the song did not chart on the Hot 100 and has sold 34,000 downloads to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

After getting engaged in last October, Rivera and Big Sean abruptly called off the wedding last month. "Sean wishes Naya nothing but the best and it is still his hope that they can continue to work through their issues privately," read a statement from Big Sean's camp about the broken engagement.

Meanwhile, rumors persist that Rivera has been fired from "Glee," which is winding down its fifth season. Although a rep for the singer/actress called reports of her firing "absolutely untrue" to The Hollywood Reporter, other reports have claimed that a feud with co-star Lea Michele has led to Rivera's permanent dismissal.

Since "Glee" began airing in mid-2009, its cast of rising young talent has struggled to get their respective solo projects off the ground. Lea Michele's debut album "Louder" was at long last released in March, and has sold 87,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Other "Glee" cast members, including Darren Criss and Amber Riley, are still prepping their proper debuts.

Donald Sterling battling cancer

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is battling cancer, sources have confirmed to

The news was first reported by the New York Post. The Post, citing sources, reported that the 80-year-old Sterling has been battling prostate cancer for an extended period of time.

Sterling was banned for life from the NBA and fined $2.5 million by commissioner Adam Silver earlier in the week after racist remarks he made were published by TMZ. Silver has urged the league's owners to force a sale of the Clippers, which they can do with approval from three-fourths of the league's 30 owners.

The league's advisory/finance committee held its first meeting about Sterling on Thursday. The 10-member committee said in a statement that it "unanimously agreed to move forward as expeditiously as possible" on the process of terminating Sterling's ownership and planned to reconvene next week.

The end of RHONY?

While other Housewives franchises continue to flourish, the lackluster Real Housewives of New York City has been bringing in the lowest ratings EVER in the history of the show, and has exclusively learned that it could soon be on the chopping block!

As a result, viewers have been tuning out in increasing numbers since the first episode, which brought in a measly 1.33 million viewers — the lowest number since the show debuted.

Now, “Bravo executives are watching the numbers closely and they are definitely considering getting rid of the New York franchise,” a source close to the production told Radar.

The ratings have continued to bomb during the season, hitting a series low of 1.2 million viewers for the fifth episode. And while they climbed in the last two weeks, the core audience that advertisers look for has fallen off drastically.

This week’s 1.46 ratings are up but there was a “64,000 viewer decrease (-8.39%) in the more important 18 to 49 year old demographic,” according to

As the Aviva Drescher/ Carol Radziwill “Bookgate” feud fell flat and Ramona Singer’s marital problems didn’t make the cut, the show is still struggling to draw in viewers and that doesn’t bode well for the well-heeled Manhattan ladies.

“The ladies just aren’t connecting with viewers and they need something major to happen to them,” the source told Radar.

good riddance tbh, nyc will always have a special place in my heart (it was the first housewives franchise i watched) but this season has been nothing but manufactured drama & all the housewives are horrible people, the show died when bethenny left

Robert Downey Jr. Developed a Werewolf Movie

Robert Downey Jr. had an idea for a horror movie, and he’s running with it!

Warner Bros has acquired Cloaked, a pitch that will be scripted by Derek Connolly (Jurassic World, Monster Trucks) and will be produced by WB-based Team Downey partners Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey.

The pitch is based on an idea by Robert Downey Jr., says Deadline, and the Downeys developed the concept with the writer before bringing it to the studio. They’re keeping the logline under wraps, but it’s a supernatural horror comedy in the vein of An American Werewolf in London, which perfectly threaded the needle combining laughs and scares!

It is unclear at this point if Downey will star in the film.

This sounds like a pretty cool idea. American Werewolf is the best werewolf film. As long as they don't do CGI, I'm for this. Creepy post?

Lifetime's ‘Petals on the Wind’ First Look: It's High End Revenge for Rose McIver's Cathy

Times have changed but old wounds haven't healed on the sequel to “Flowers in the Attic”

Lifetime's “Petals on the Wind” clearly captures the Dollanganger family in very different times from the events of “Flowers in the Attic.”

TheWrap has the first look photos of Rose McIver as Cathy, Heather Graham as selfish mother Corrine and Bailey Buntain as the twin that survived “Flowers,” Carrie. The pictures show that the women certainly look like life has treated them well, but we'll learn that the events in the attic still haunt them.

It's the 1970s and Cathy (Rose McIver) and Chris (Wyatt Nash) have tried to move on from their twisted childhood. But, unforeseen events will thrust the siblings back together again and will draw them to Foxworth Hall, where they were once held captive by their mother and grandmother.

“I can understand that with what [Cathy has] been through, she seeks this deep seeded vengeance,” McIver told TheWrap. “It's very understandable that these people have wronged her and what she wants to do, but it's the perfect example of revenge really hurts you just as much as it hurts the other people. So, I can't help but feel so sad and protective of this character as she makes these decisions, which aren't necessarily beneficial to her future.”

Is A Solo Hulk Movie In The Works?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Iron Man, Captain America and Thor have each received sequel solo adventures since The Avengers in 2012, but the Hulk has not had a solo outing since The Incredible Hulk in 2009. But according to former Hulk actor Lou Ferrigno, that will soon change.

Ferrigno told a local radio station in Minnesota that Marvel is planning another solo Hulk movie. He talks about how Mark Ruffalo's version of the character was the "star of the movie" in The Avengers and believes he "saved the day."

"Now because he saved the day they're making another solo Hulk movie after the second Avengers comes out."

As always, nothing is official until Marvel Studios confirms it.

Felicity Jones and Nicholas Hoult replace Amber Heard and Zac Efron in Autobahn

Car chase thriller “Autobahn” has gone through yet another casting change, but looks finally ready to go before cameras. Felicity Jones is now onboard as the female lead, replacing Amber Heard and joining Nicholas Hoult, who himself replaced Zac Efron. But the film is finally happening a year after being announced, with filming set to begin on May 5th and a supporting cast including Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley.
Hoult and Jones will play a young American couple backpacking through Europe who find themselves fleeing from some bad guys when his job as a pickup driver for some German drug smugglers goes horribly wrong. F. Scott Frazier wrote the script and Eran Creevy will be directing.
Jones will next be seen in Stephen Hawking biopic “Theory of Everything” opposite Eddie Redmayne and a badly-kept secret role in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ set to premiere tomorrow. She’s also wrapped true life crime thriller “True Story” with Jonah Hill and James Franco and will next play the title role in revisionist “Romeo and Juliet” rom com “Rosaline.” She recently signed on to play one of the leads in JA Bayona’s adaptation of Patrick Ness’ “A Monster Calls.”

Cameron Diaz talks Sex Tape

Q. This is the second comedy you’ve made together, after “Bad Teacher.” Are you more comfortable working with each other now?

CAMERON DIAZ Oh, after this movie, we are real comfortable.

JASON SEGEL To do something like this has the potential to be very awkward. But we share a mentality that, when it comes to comedy, the bottom line is it being as funny as it can possibly be, and that involves being pride free. That could have been awkward with a different partnership. But we laughed so much more than we cringed.

A Thursday Night Bcoop Post

Bradley Cooper shows off his newly beefed up physique while leaving the Tom Ford store on Thursday afternoon (May 1) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

“He put on like 40 pounds,” Bradley‘s co-star Eric Close told E! News. “He’s really been working hard. He looks great. He’s really taken on this character… He really takes this story personally and wants to do an honorable job for Chris Kyle’s memory and for his family.”

Bradley is serving as one of the co-chairs at the 2014 Met Ball this Monday night so perhaps he is going to wear a Tom Ford tux? We’ll have to see!
