7 (5) Burning Questions About "Oathkeeper"

MTV News compiled 7 ~burning questions from the last episode of Game of Thrones

Did Daenerys Go Too Far?
Sacking Meereen was one thing. Crucifying each and every single slave master? Maybe a little over the line. Is that infamous “Crazy Targaryen” gene rearing its head here? Or was Dany justified in punishing the slavers in such brutal fashion?

Skins UK back as an online drama?

Skins, E4’s cult teenage drama, could be returning soon as an online drama, RadioTimes.com can exclusively reveal.

Creator Bryan Elsley is in talks over the creation of a new series charting the lives of a fourth generation of party loving teens, a year after the final episode aired on E4.

I'm not sure how I feel about this news since the show was a platform for a lot of actors, directors and writers but the Brittain/Elsley managed to destroy their own show with those last two seasons.

Let's be real this is just an excuse to get some more writing work for his kids ;)

Josh Hartnett Says He Turned Down 'Superman Returns' As Well As Playing Spider-Man And Batman

This spring Josh Hartnett returns to our collective consciousness in Showtime's "Penny Dreadful," and it has been a long time since we've seen him anything. The past four of five years has seen the actor drift with indies nobody saw ("Stuck Between Stations," "August," "Girl Walks Into A Bar"), genre fare that no one saw ("Bunraku," "I Come With The Rain") and troubled international blockbusters ("Singularity"). But perhaps his career might've been different, if he had made some different choices.

In an interview with Details, the actor is up front about turning down some major roles, including Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns," early in his career. "Spider-Man was something we talked about. Batman was another one. But I somehow knew those roles had potential to define me, and I didn't want that. I didn't want to be labeled as Superman for the rest of my career. I was maybe 22, but I saw the danger," he explained.

What's next for Craig Ferguson? (Carpentry.)

"I'll be stepping down at the end of this year, in December. Then I'll go and do something else. Probably, I'm thinking carpentry, but I haven't made my mind up yet. I don't know what I'm going to do yet, but I feel doing this show for 10 years, that's enough."

"This is my decision to go. This is not Jay and Conan at NBC. This is not Dave and Jay all these years ago. It's not that."

"CBS has been great with me. I have a good relationship with them. I'm still in business with them on other stuff, so please don't picket them or go up to CBS with flaming torches, unless you're angry at me, then, you know, get in line."

There is nothing Gleeful about Naya Rivera’s life right now.

The actress’ job on the hit television show has been cut unceremoniously short with her recent actions causing her to be written off the last two episodes of Glee, banned from the lot where filming takes place, receiving TWO notices from FOX that they planned to take legal action against her for hours lost due to her on set tantrums and storming off the set and the production crew already packed up her trailer and shipped it to her house RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

Frankie Muniz Wants to Buy the Los Angeles Clippers

Frankie Muniz lives the good life after building a fortune through appearing on 151 episodes of "Malcolm In The MIddle." He races cars, plays a lot of golf and jams on the drums in a rock band.

As cool as that might seem, Muniz's lifestyle might get even cooler if a new opportunity comes to pass. The 28-year-old former child star is a huge Los Angeles Clippers fan and might be interested in being a part of a potential ownership group if and when Donald Sterling puts the team up for sale after receiving a lifetime ban from the NBA on Tuesday.

Tony Awards 2014: Nominations leave some starry names out in the cold

Daniel Radcliffe must be starting to think it's personal, but he's in good company among this year's high-profile snubs, with James Franco, Michelle Williams and Denzel Washington.

The most surprising exclusion among this year's crop was Daniel Radcliffe for his acclaimed turn in The Cripple of Inishmaan. While that Martin McDonagh revival scored five nominations, Radcliffe's name wasn’t among them, making pundits wonder what the Tony Nominating Committee has against the erstwhile Harry Potter. Radcliffe's previous Broadway appearances – in the drama Equus and the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying – both got a lot of love from critics, but no Tony nom. What does this hardworking actor have to do to prove his theater chops?

What if: Film Download Prices Were Determined by Screen Size?

The cost of watching a newly released film will depend upon the size of the screen on which it is viewed in future, the head of Dreamworks Animation says.

Those who watched on a "movie screen" would pay the most while those using smartphones would only pay a small fee, Jeffrey Katzenberg said.
This pricing model will be common in 10 years' time, he told a US conference.
But one commentator suggested it would be tricky to accurately identify the precise size of the devices used.
Mr Katzenberg - who runs a studio that has produced movies such as Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda - was speaking at the Milken Global Conference in California.
This bills itself as a forum for people to find solutions to challenges in business, as well as other areas.
"Movies are not a growth business," Mr Katzenberg told delegates.

But technology website The Verge thought the idea faced some technical hurdles.
"Given the diversity of video streaming options available today, it's hard to imagine a security system that would reliably recognise the exact size of the screen it's being displayed on," wrote commentator Vlad Slavov.

Sheree Whitfield (Probably) Returning to RHOA As Kenya's Friend

I told y’all back when Sheree appeared alongside Kim on Watch What Happens Live,  that would not be the last we see of her on BRAVO. I actually took it a step further and predicted that she would be returning to RHOA. Then, when I was at Kandi’s wedding and saw Sheree sitting across the way from me, I thought to myself “ohh yea chile, she’s definitely coming back.” By the end of Kandi’s wedding night, Sheree was filming full on scenes with Derek J and Lawrence. I knew then, she is definitely coming back, and they are going to use Kandi’s wedding show, probably Kim’s show, and the current casting climate to bring her back.

Quiet as its kept, Sheree’s return to RHOA would actually be a good thing in my book. It would spice things up on what has become a rather redundant show. With Kenya having no friends, and Sheree & Kenya having Lawrence in common, it would be a very easy sell to the viewers to integrate Sheree back into the fold as Kenya’s new friend.

Kate Upton on British Vogue, Cosmpolitan Australia, and shooting Express campaign in NYC

KATE UPTON is Vogue's June cover star. Photographed by Mario Testino in the Caribbean, Upton is as sun-kissed and gorgeous as the season itself - and in the accompanying interview talks to contributing editor, and fellow cover girl, Alexa Chung about the impact of her much-talked-about body on the industry.

"It's weird that in the press they'll be like, your biggest fight was with the industry and the designers, and I'm like, no, my biggest fight was with my agents, trying to get them to sign me into the castings," Upton says. "I thought, how I'm going to come out of this will be an example for girls."

Testino photographs the Florida native as we know her best, showcasing the season's sportiest swimwear, while on the cover she channels a Fifties siren - not the first time that such a comparison has been made.

"I always thought Marilyn was so beautiful and iconic, it was amazing to even be mentioned in the same sentence as her," she tells Chung. "But I feel like nowadays it's easy to be genuine and show your personality, whereas I don't think Marilyn had that opportunity. And clearly she had a dark side, and I don't have that."

Starz orders two seasons of Patrick Stewart-Seth MacFarlane comedy 'Blunt Talk'

We haven’t made very much of Starz’s new offerings since ‘Spartacus‘ went off the air, but the network’s latest acquisitions are bound to turn a few heads. Already guaranteed for two seasons, Patrick Stewart and frequent collaborator Seth MacFarlane have teamed for a new journalism comedy series, ‘Blunt Talk,’ partnering with ‘Bored to Death’ creator Jonathan Ames for a 2015 premiere.

The new series is described as a character-driven comedy revolving around Walter Blunt (Patrick Stewart), a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news. Through the platform of his nightly interview show, Blunt is on a mission to impart his wisdom and guidance on how Americans should live, think and behave.

Besieged by network bosses, a dysfunctional news staff, numerous ex-wives and children of all ages, Blunt’s only support is the alcoholic manservant he transplanted from the UK to join him in Los Angeles. The series follows the fallout from Blunt’s well-intentioned but mostly misguided decision making, both on and off the air.

Erykah Badu, under fire for singing to king of Swaziland, responds to human rights groups

On Thursday Erykah Badu made a quick trip to Swaziland to sing “Happy Birthday” to King Mswati III, ruler of the tiny southern African country and the man considered the continent’s “last absolute monarch.” At the time, Badu says now, she thought nothing of it. It was a last-second favor done for an acquaintance. It wasn’t like she had to go that far out of her way: The singer-songwriter from Dallas happens to be in South Africa at this very moment recording her sixth studio album.

“It was harmless,” she says by phone from Africa.

But not to the Human Rights Foundation and the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. In an email to The Washington Post on Monday, the RFK Center’s Jeffrey Smith said it’s “highly unfortunate that someone of Erykah Badu’s international stature would use her star power for inherently reprehensible reasons — namely, to provide legitimacy, and, in a sense, endorse a brutal dictator who both manages and directs every facet of Africa’s last absolute monarchy.” And in a lengthy post on its website today, HRF International Council member George Ayittey says that “despite a carefully crafted image of American civil rights activism, Badu praises Africa’s last absolute monarch, a strongman who imprisons dissidents.”

NBA Teams Ready to Vote Donald Sterling Out?

You're up, NBA owners.

Commissioner Adam Silver did the hard part Tuesday, slapping Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling with a lifetime ban for his vile, racist comments. Silver is the one who, just three months into the job, finally had the courage to stand up to Sterling, who's been thumbing his nose at the NBA since the day he bought the Clippers.

All the owners have to do is follow along and finish the job.

A lifetime ban sounds harsh and, in many ways, it is. Sterling will no longer have a front-row seat – a seat in any row, for that matter – or the quasi-celebrity status in which he took so much pride. He can't heckle his players, or lord his power over his employees. He'll no longer be able to hobnob with other members of the 1 %.

So long as he still owns the Clippers, however, Sterling will continue to get rich off the NBA, its players, its sponsors and its fans. And that's every bit as unacceptable as if Silver had been soft on Sterling and his hateful views. The NBA needs to cut every last tie to Sterling, and the sooner the better.

Fortunately for the owners, Silver made their job easy.

Future Oscar winner Dane Dehaan in 2 Clips From Atom Egoyan's West Memphis Three Drama 'Devil's Knot

Before Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan heads to Cannes with his latest "The Captive," last year's festival circuit entry "Devil's Knot" will arrive in theatres, and a couple new clips are here to give you a peek inside the true crime drama.

Assembling a pretty impressive ensemble—Reese Witherspoon, Colin Firth, Amy Ryan, Dane DeHaan, Stephen Moyer, Mireille Enos and more—the film tells the dramatic story of the West Memphis Three, the trio of teenagers prosecuted for the murders of young children, a crime they didn't commit. And for the most part, the film revisits a lot of old ground, particularly if you've seen the "Paradise Lost" documentaries. But one avenue it does go down briefly is focusing on another teen suspect, Chris Morgan, played by DeHaan. And in these two clips from the film, you can see why the police showed an interest.

"Devil's Knot" arrives in theaters and On Demand on May 9th.

Jennifer Lawrence Recalls Getting "Wasted" at the Oscars, Puking in Front of Miley Cyrus

jlaw and miley

You know you've had a crazy night when Miley Cyrus tells you to pull it together. During an April 21 taping of NBC's Late Night With Seth Meyers (for an episode airing May 21), Jennifer Lawrence recalled having a little too much fun at this year's Oscars, which she attended with BFF Laura Simpson.

The 23-year-old Hunger Games: Catching Fire star, who was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in American Hustle, told Meyers she was "wasted" at the March 2 ceremony in L.A. She was so out of it, she said, that she got sick at a post-show bash—and Cyrus witnessed the whole thing.

"Jen said she was so drunk, she puked on the stairs at Madonna's after-party, and Miley walked by and said something like, 'Get it together, girl!'" a Late Night audience member shares in the new issue of Us Weekly.

Lawrence—whose red carpet antics (such as falling and photobombing) have endeared her to moviegoers everywhere—also shared a story about hanging out with Brad Pitt at the show. (Angelina Jolie's fiance was there in support of his Best Picture-winning movie 12 Years a Slave.)

"Jen said he smelled like sandalwood," the audience member tells Us of Lawrence, who lost to Pitt's costar Lupita Nyong'o. "She was so fun!"

Oprah considering Clippers bid

Oprah Winfrey, David Geffen and Larry Ellison will join together in a bid to buy the Los Angeles Clippers if the NBA's board of governors votes to force Donald Sterling to sell the team, Geffen told ESPN's Jeremy Schaap on Wednesday.

Geffen said he and Ellison would run the team, while Winfrey would be an investor.
"Oprah is not interested in running the team," Geffen told Schaap. "She thinks it would be a great thing for an important black American to own [another] franchise.

"The team deserves a better group of owners who want to win. Larry would sooner die than fail. I would sooner die than fail. Larry's a sportsman. We've talked about this for a long time. Between the three of us, we have a good shot."

Winfrey's spokesperson, Nicole Nichols, issued a statement later Wednesday, confirming Geffen's claim.

"Oprah Winfrey is in discussions with David Geffen and Larry Ellison to make a bid for the Los Angeles Clippers should the team become available," Nichols said in the statement.

Zac Efron on Career Reinvention, Addiction 'Struggle' and That Fight on Skid Row

Zac Efron leans back, lost in thought.

"No matter who you are, you face challenges growing up," he says. "You go with your things, you learn, you have to. It's impossible to lead an honest and fulfilling life as a man and not make mistakes and 'fess up to them when you need to. But it's especially humiliating when they happen to be so public and so scrutinized."

He pauses. "When you have success young, and you accept the good things, you have to accept all of it. You have to accept the moments of glory but also a great responsibility. And that responsibility, to some degree, involves being a role model. At the same time, I'm a human being, and I've made a lot of mistakes. I've learned from each one."

It's April 11, mere weeks since the 26-year-old star of the High School Musical franchise and such movies as Hairspray and 17 Again got into a tussle with a homeless man in downtown Los Angeles in the early hours of the morning. Add that to his well-publicized stint in rehab, and any reporter might be forgiven for expecting the worst. But as we sit for lunch at West Hollywood's Soho House, I'm surprised to find him thoughtful, gracious and candid about the growing pains he has endured while navigating the shoals from teen celebrity to adult stardom.

"I was drinking a lot, way too much," he says, acknowledging there were drugs, too. "It's never one specific thing. I mean, you're in your 20s, single, going through life in Hollywood, you know? Everything is thrown at you. I wouldn't take anything back; I needed to learn everything I did. But it was an interesting journey, to say the least."

Goop wears $895 hoodie, will never attend Met Gala again

Gwyneth Paltrow's alternative to a designer Met Gala dress? A designer Goop collab hoodie, of course.

The Oscar winner wore exactly that while soaking up the California sunshine at the Brentwood Country Market with her daughter Apple on Tuesday, enjoying an afternoon out with her adorable offspring.

Paltrow, who recently split from hubby Chris Martin, was all smiles as she did a bit of shopping, appearing relaxed and comfortable as paps snapped pics of the blond stunner.

The 41-year-old beauty sported a Veronica Beard for Goop hoodie, which retails for a cool $895, as well as a pair of boyfriend jeans and trendy black shades. She wore her hair up in a casual ponytail and kept her low-key style accessory-free, looking gorgeous as ever despite her dressed-down appearance.

The photos of Paltrow's outing come on the heels of the star's confirmation that she will not be attending the 2014 Met Gala.

"Gwyneth will not be in New York and is unable to attend the ball," her rep told the New York Post.
Paltrow swore off the annual fashion bash last year in an interview with USA Today, slamming the fete as "un-fun."

"I'm never going again. It was so un-fun. It was boiling. It was too crowded. I did not enjoy it at all," the Oscar winner said.

Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler's "They Came Together" - Official Trailer

It's basically everything you've ever wanted in a rom-com.

Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler star in the upcoming parody film They Came Together, directed by Wet Hot American Summer's David Wain. The movie's trailer, which dropped on Wednesday, proves that romance is best served with lots of irony.

Goofy and lovable Rudd and Poehler (Joel and Molly, respectively) meet and fall in love, but average rom-com tropes quickly turn into outrageousness. Girl who gets hurt a lot? Check. Feeding each other pasta sauce? Check. Frolicking in the leaves? Check.

The film hits theaters on June 27 in select theaters and VOD.

Scarlett Johansson's baby bump to be 'removed in post-production' for Avengers: Age of Ultron

Despite reportedly being due in August, any signs of the star's pregnancy will be edited out for the comic book blockbuster

Scarlett Johansson might be expecting her first child, but Black Widow won't be showing any signs of pregnancy.

The gorgeous star is said due to give birth to her and Roman Dauriac's baby in August, which threw up a few issues for the filming of Avengers: Winter Soldier Avengers: Age of Ultron.

However, The Sun reports that Scarlett will be able to perform as she is, with her growing baby bump being edited out in post-production.

According to the newspaper, the actress will be wearing a high-tech suit with a green band around her waist which will allow the special effects team to remove any signs of her pregnancy.

Meanwhile, it is said that director Joss Whedon has no intention of letting her off easily, still expecting her to be part of the movie's fight scenes.

Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige seemingly confirmed Scarlett's maternity in an interview about the film last month and suggesting everything will still go to plan.

Speaking about the mum-to-be last month, he said: "Well my first reaction was I was very happy for her and very excited for her.

"My second reaction was we've got to move some pieces on the chess board around schedule-wise. But we didn't change the script at all, which is sort of the most important things for us in terms of the storyline."

2 in every 100 albums sold in America this year is a Frozen soundtrack

Disney's soundtrack to "Frozen" continues to chill for a 12th week at No. 1.

"Frozen" is just the eighth album to have spent at least 12 weeks at No. 1 since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.

With the additional 115,000 “Frozen” sold in the week ending April 27, its total sales rise to 2.5 million. Further, the album becomes the first to reach 2 million in sales in 2014, as its sales this year climb to 2.1 million. ("Frozen" was released in November of 2013, and sold 338,000 last year.)

"Frozen" remains the only album to have sold 1 million copies so far in 2014. The year's second-biggest seller is Beyonce's self-titled set, with 648,000.

We had a HUGE response to the first part of this feature! Quite frankly, we can’t wait to unfurl the rest of the list…but we’ll limit it to ten entries a week. Round 2 sees us still deep in the DC Universe, but don’t panic…the World of Marvel will be featured next time! Plus there’s still indies, horror, real world stories…

Peaches Geldof 'died from heroin overdose'

PEACHES Geldof died from a heroin overdose, it has been reported.

The TV star and mother of two was found dead at her country home earlier this month with police describing her death as 'non-suspicious'.

A post-mortem examination carried out at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford proved inconclusive, prompting further investigations.

Samples of her blood and tissue were sent off to a laboratory for toxicology tests.

A 10 minute hearing is expected to take place tomorrow.

A statement released by a spokesperson for the coroner revealed that statement from a senior police officer will be heard and the coroner will release the cause of death.

The socialite’s funeral took place at the St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence Church in the Kent village of Davington in Faversham on 21 April.

It was the same church her mother’s funeral – and her wedding to husband Thomas Cohen – had taken place.

Mourners wept as her sky blue coffin, which had been painted to show an image of Peaches together with her musician husband Tom Cohen, their two sons Astala, aged 23 months, and Phaedra, 11 months, alongside their pets, was carried into the church.

Kate Moss, Jamie Hince, Alexa Chung, Nick Grimshaw, Bill Wyman, Jools Holland and the Duchess of York were among the famous faces that attended the service, as were Jo Wood, Eliza Doolittle, Johnny Borrell, Alan McGee, Mariella Frostrup and husband Jason McCue.

Best-selling artist MARIAH reveals new details about semi-secret album

After some back and forth in Billboard over the last week, one thing is clear: The inner workings of Mariah Carey's new album are very unclear. We sat down with the arch diva and get some of the details on her album, which have so far been very scarce.

"I recorded everywhere, from Capri to Puerto Rico," Carey said in an interview with Radio.com. "I mean, now you only need a little bit of sound proofing and Pro-Tools to sing." She revealed that tracks were written in Atlanta with co-manager and longtime collaborator Jermaine Dupri, and in L.A. with Rodney Jerkins. And one old collaborator came back to do a new song with her.

"I worked with Q-Tip again, we previously worked on the record 'Honey'," she revealed. "We have to mix that song. He's angry with me because he thinks that I didn't allow him to do his mix, but really it's okay. He loves me, we're going to make this work. And that's good because it's one of my favorite songs. I'm going to call him soon... I think we need to get that ready.

As for her inspirations when writing on the yet-untitled record, Carey calls the process a "journey" and details trying to fit the emotions of motherhood and her self-professed "tough pregnancy" into the music. "My career has been my entire life," Carey said. "I never thought that I would be a mommy to babies."

MSNBC Guest to NBA: If You Condemned Sterling, Stop Using The N-Word

Players and owners have reacted in unanimity behind the NBA’s decision to ban Donald Sterling for life, but if his racism is unacceptable, then New York Times sports columnist William Rhoden has just one question: why, then, shouldn’t NBA players reject racism by not dropping the n-word so much in the locker room. Chris Matthews brought up the protest by Clippers players in which they threw their shooting shirts on the ground and played with their warm-up gear inside out to hide the Clippers logo, and asked what else could be done here.

Rhoden said for starters, players can “stop using the n-word in the locker room.” He argued there is a double standard where people can say Sterling disrespected the black community, but then “you disrespect each other every day” by using the n-word around fellow players.

Rhoden even went so far as to say, “If you continue to disrespect yourself and call each other the n-word, then, you know, you are just as bad as Donald Sterling. So stop it.”

Is this real life: Kit Harington & Emilia Clarke are a couple?

She made a point of declaring herself still single last month, but maybe not for much longer, as it's been reported that Emilia Clarke is being pursued by her co-star Kit Harington... and another suitor.
The Game of Thrones beauty raised eyebrows when she appeared at the Vanity Fair post Oscars party with Cory Michael Smith – whom she appeared alongside in a Broadway adaption of Breakfast at Tiffany's - at the beginning of March.

However, Kit - who plays brooding Jon Snow in the hit HBO series - is also said to be vying for her affections and even though an insider tells Star magazine she is falling for him, she is said to worry that their filming schedules are rarely in sync.

Derek Hough continues dating his sister's friends, Nikki Reed continues dating reality stars

Moving on! Nikki Reed recently hooked up with Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough, multiple sources confirm exclusively to Us Weekly. The new fling came about just one month after the Twilight alum announced her split from husband Paul McDonald after two years of marriage.

Reed, 25, and Hough, 28, were most recently spotted making out at Rock & Reilly's in L.A. on April 18, an onlooker tells Us. The duo were joined by Hough's DWTS best friend Mark Ballas and costar Cheryl Burke.

"The whole group was drinking and partying. Derek bought shots for Nikki at the bar," the eyewitness tells Us. "There was lots of PDA, Nikki was feeding him, holding hands, and they left together." The onlooker adds: "They didn't seem to care if anyone was watching."

Reed, for her part, has also been taking time out to support Hough on DWTS. A source tells Us the Email star was hanging out with Ballas' girlfriend BC Jean backstage during this week's April 29 episode. (The American Idol stage is right next to the ABC dancing competition.) "She's such a sweet girl! Really down to earth," a source tells Us of Reed. "They are having fun hanging out. It's a good match."

The Scout actress is close to Hough's sister Julianne, which doesn't make the new pairing far-fetched. As Us exclusively reported, the blue-eyed dancer briefly wooed Julianne's close friend, Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, back in September 2013 for six weeks. (The siblings will star in MOVE, a dance tour, this summer.)

Us confirmed back in March that Reed and American Idol alum McDonald, 29, decided to pull the plug on their marriage. The pair first met while the singer was a a contestant on Season 10 of the FOX series, and tied the knot in October 2011. They lived separately for six months before announcing their split, but still plan on working together on their debut album, I'm Not Falling.

The twosome may be having fun, but a second insider close to the actress says it isn't serious. "Nikki isn't currently dating anyone. She is focused on her divorce from Paul and caring for that relationship as well as her latest film projects," the source says. "Nikki and Julianne are good friends, and she has hung out with Derek a few times through her. They're having fun but it's nothing serious."

Jon Lajoie Wrote The Perfect Generic Pop Song That Could Be Used To Advertise Virtually Anything

Before I ever watched The League, I knew Jon Lajoie from his popular and hilarious YouTube channel, filled with music videos and commercial parodies. I think the first thing of his I ever saw was Everyday Normal Guy and I was hooked. Since then, over the years Lajoie has brought us this insane Christmas song, F*ck Everything, and the 2 Girls 1 Cup song, among others.

Now from Lajoie’s fascinating brain comes “Please Use This Song” — a brilliant take on pop music that seems to be written almost entirely for the reason of selling out to advertising agencies. We’ve all heard them: songs that, the minute you hear them — before they even make it into a commercial — you just know they’re destined for sh*tty advertising greatness. The Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights” and Apples in Stereo’s “Energy” are two that immediately come to mind.

Anyway, the sad thing is, Jon Lajoie is actually better at writing fake songs then most people are at writing real ones. I don’t know how much he gets paid for The League, but he could actually probably make a very comfortable living selling out.

White Madonna™ Iggy Azalea debuts at #3 on the Billboard 200

The soundtrack to Disney's "Frozen" holds on to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for a 12th week, despite competition from new albums by Future and Iggy Azalea.

"Frozen” sold 115,000 copies (-56%) this week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Last week, the soundtrack had its biggest sales ever with 259,000. Its sales now total 2.5 million with 2.1 earned in 2014, making it the highest-grossing album of the year.

Future’s sophomore album, "Honest," enters at No. 2 with 53,000, giving the rapper his best sales week and highest-charting album to date. His 2012 debut, “Pluto," peaked at No. 8 with 41,000.

Just 1,000 copies shy of Future is Iggy Azalea’s debut album, "The New Classic," at No. 3 with 52,000. The new album is fueled by the single "Fancy," which is currently No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. Still, Iggy can rest easy knowing that she’s currently got the two best-selling singles in the country, with Ariana Grande‘s “Problem” (which Azalea features on) perched at #1 on iTunes and her pair-up with Charli XCX, “Fancy,” sitting pretty at #2.

Donald Sterling's wife to tenant, "Who do you think you are, you black motherf-----?"

Clippers coach Doc Rivers voiced his support of Donald Sterling’s wife following Sterling’s lifetime ban of all things related to his team and the NBA Tuesday, although it was unclear if Rivers was aware of reports that Shelly Sterling had expressed her own bigotry against blacks and Latinos in court records uncovered this week.

“It’s a tough one for Shelly (Sterling), really. She didn’t do anything wrong either," Rivers said after Tuesday night’s Clipper victory over Golden State in Game 5 of the NBA playoffs. "You have compassion for her. I kept hearing about the girlfriend. I kept thinking, ‘Shelly is the wife. You know what I mean? I talked to her (Tuesday) and she has been through as much as anyone as well.”

Shelly Sterling — who distanced herself from her spouse’s hate speech in a statement on Monday — was accused in a 2009 deposition related to a federal discrimination lawsuit against the Sterlings of saying that Latinos were filthy and that she had called one of her husband’s tenants a “black motherf-----.”

The accusations, made by tenant Darrell Rhodes, was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.

(Three of) Six great songs TV introduced us to

Who knew that television shows could expand our musical horizons? From Marty Robbins on Breaking Bad to Vashti Bunyan on True Detective, these are some of the best musical surprises on TV dramas

"To live in a old shack by the sea, And breathe the sweet salt air, To live with the dawn and the dusk …" The Eden Ahbez track Full Moon that played over the end of Fargo's second episode on Sunday night was a unusual choice to soundtrack the scene with Mr Numbers and Mr Wrench getting busy with their ice drill – a pensive, dreamy meditation that undercut the violence and took the mood into a weirder space. But it wasn't the only example this week of TV shows using songs that you might not expect to hear – or even know. On Monday night, viewers of John Simm's new thriller Prey were intrigued by who was singing in the final scene of the first episode (it was the Cranberries, No Need to Argue).

This trend for using more obscure(ish) tracks from the past is refreshing in a time when getting on the OST of a TV drama has become an established part of the music industry's promo cycle for new songs. Last week even Bruce Springsteen tried debuting tracks from his last album, High Hopes, on The Good Wife. For me, hearing songs that aren't in the charts or getting a big push feels a bit more interesting – you're not likely to hear them in too many other places. With that in mind, here's a quick playlist of songs like Full Moon – as ever, feel free to add your own below.

Star Wars Casting Isn’t Done; There’s Still Room for Lupita Nyong’o

Hold on to your space buns, the Star Wars casting isn’t done yet. Though he didn’t explicitly say so in yesterday’s announcement, most people assumed that when J.J. Abrams listed out “the cast of Star Wars,” that meant he was done with casting. Not so! According to The Hollywood Reporter, there is another Skywalker. Or, dare we hope, Calrissian? Star Wars is still looking for another female to round out the cast, leading many to speculate that this is the role that both Lupita Nyong’o and British actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers were in the running for.

This announcement may address some of the concerns raised yesterday about the lack of roles for both women and non-white actors in the new Star Wars. Our Richard Lawson wrote:

Looking at the new list, it’s hard not to notice something dismaying: Only one woman, newcomer Daisy Ridley, is in the new lineup. By our count, that’s eleven principals who are men and only two who are women. And there are only two non-white people, both men, on the list. Couldn’t they have done better?

Even if this as-yet uncast role goes to a non-white woman, the cast will still be predominately male and predominately white. Despite Princess Leia’s admirably tough character, as many pointed out yesterday, there are only three women with names and speaking roles in the original trilogy. But we’ve made some progress since long, long ago in that galaxy far, far away, and it’s not unreasonable for modern science-fiction fantasy fans to expect more equal representation. In a post-Buffy and Starbuck world, one sassy princess just won’t cut it anymore.

Michael Myers Returns In ‘Halloween 3D’

The boogeyman is real and will return on Halloween.
Some really brief news out of Cannes has Michael Myers being resurrected.
Our sources on the Cannes stomping ground tell us exclusively that The Weinstein Company is once again looking to get Halloween 3D off the ground
We don’t have the names of any writers or directors attached, although Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier had previously been working on a screenplay. While we may be back at square one, at least the Weinstein brothers once again have Michael Myers on the brain.

It’s unclear if this would be a re-remake, or another sequel to Rob Zombie’s modern take.
John Carpenter’s 1978 classic followed a psychotic murderer institutionalized since childhood for the murder of his sister, who escapes and stalks a bookish teenage girl and her friends while his doctor chases him through the streets.
The franchise has spawned nine sequels and made over $500M worldwide collectively at the box office.

Will never forgive them for killing JLC. Bring her back somehow and have her kill Michael for real this time.

Lil Kim Dressed Up As A Pregnant Indian Lady (Jamilla), Including Terrible Accent

On this week's episode of Oxygen's new show Celebrities Undercover, Lil' Kim pretended to be a her own biggest fan – a pregnant Indian woman named Jamilla – in order to listen to her "true" fans talk about her and see if they are really "true" to her.

Celebrities Undercover is almost exactly like the cancelled CW show H8R. Both follows celebrities like Kim Kardashian hiding their "true" identities with the use of prosthetics and wigs in order to interact with plebs. Produced by Wendy Williams, Celebrities Undercover follows said celebrities "to find out what unsuspecting fans and friends really think of them without the distraction of their famous personas." (H8R was slightly different in that it featured said famous people confronting their "haters" who specifically did not like them.)

"Oh my goodness, it was so interesting to see what some of my fans said about me," Lil' Kim said in her episode of Celebrities Undercover. She was clearly touched by this moving exchange:

Jada Pinkett-Smith talks Atlanta's strip club scene and sex trafficking

It’s hard to believe that in our world today, there are more slaves in the world than any other time in history. One of the most profitable and booming businesses globally is the buying and selling of people, especially in the sex slavery industry.

As you all may know by now, actress Jada Pinkett-Smith has been working hard to shed light on the human trafficking business, and she recently begn working on a documentary for CNN that shows how women are lured into the sex slave trade. While doing her research, she recently visited Atlanta and connected with women who began as strippers before they were forced into sex trafficking.

In a video update that she posted to her Facebook page, Jada said that her eyes have been opened to what’s going on right here under our noses, right in our backyards, to our daughters (and sons) who see a certain image in the media, but when they go out on their own and try to make that money, they get swept up before they even know what’s happened to them.

Daniel Franzese says Christina Aguilera is rude in new Mean Girls interview

Ten years ago today, "Mean Girls" debuted in theaters, introducing a ground-breaking character: Damian, Cady Heron's (Lindsay Lohan) early friend at the animal house of North Shore High School.

As portrayed by Daniel Franzese with nearly pitch-perfect comedic timing, Damian showed millions of impressionable kids that not only was it OK to have a gay best friend, it was cool.

Unfortunately, as we learned last week in Franzese's eloquent coming-out letter to his "Mean Girls" character, not everyone in Hollywood believes that sentiment. While Franzese's post-"Mean Girls" career has seen plenty of peaks, the 35-year-old actor has also seen a disturbing amount of typecasting.

I spoke with Franzese over the phone recently to talk about his coming-out letter, why pushing "send" was the most courageous moment of his life, and how he's been received since the news broke.

And, of course, he talked all about Damian, my very first gay friend.

"Mean Girls" writer Tina Fey helped Franzese find Damian.
Damian was based on her best friend in high school, so it was important to her that he was realistic. Originally, I had certain ideas, like, I wanted highlights and certain things, and she would go, "No, Damian didn't have highlights." It was very real to her.

During Damien's talent show song, "Beautiful," Franzese channeled his own anger when a bully throws a shoe at him.
I wanted him to be like, "If you throw a shoe at me, I'm going to hit you as hard as I can." If somebody threw something at me, I would throw it back. So it was an honest reaction and I tried to throw it back as hard as I could, even if I missed.
