What 'Winter Soldier' Means for 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson is about to have a very bad day.

[MASSIVE Winter Soldier spoilers from the very first paragraph onward]

Captain America: The Winter Soldier, released in theaters over the weekend, reveals that the secret government agency has been infiltrated to its core by sleeper agents of Hydra, an evil organization bent on world domination.

And in a bit of movie-to-TV synergy, the film's events will prompt a major retooling of ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for its first season's final six new episodes, beginning Tuesday (8 ET/PT).

"It's an extremely unique experience that doesn't exist anywhere else out there in the entertainment business," says Jeph Loeb, executive producer and head of Marvel TV.

The show's group of agents led by Coulson (Clark Gregg), introduced in the Marvel movies, are faced with not only trust issues among themselves but a civil war within the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. organization, where no one knows who's actually a Hydra operative.

Upcoming episodes feature at least one major betrayal, and what's left of Coulson's team is forced to deal on their own with the dismantling of their whole world as well as the new Hydra threat.

The dismantling of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a bum deal for Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg, left) but a good one for viewers, who get guest star Patton Oswalt. (Photo: Justin Lubin, ABC)

"Survival is a huge part of it," says executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen. "There is no more tapping into big S.H.I.E.L.D. through the holo-comm. The guns you have on the plane are the guns you have. They're basically left with the bare minimum."

Coulson's team — agents May (Ming-Na Wen), Ward (Brett Dalton), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and Skye (Chloe Bennet) — were established as new characters in Marvel lore finding their identity in "the most massive organization ever created by man," adds executive producer Jed Whedon. "Now they really are a ragtag bunch scraping things together."

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has had bigger problems than Hydra its first season. Viewership has been disappointing — it premiered in September with an impressive 12 million viewers, but ranked behind The Voice and NCIS with 5.71 million last week, though it is expected to return next fall.

And the hardcore fanboy contingent has decried its lack of characters from the comics, though that will be addressed with the Hydra element, which the show couldn't mention until now in order to avoid spoiling Winter Soldier, Whedon says. Instead, the series spent time building external threats — the big bad mystery man the Clairvoyant, the mad scientists of Centipede, the cyborg operative Deathlok (J. August Richards) — for the heroes to deal with that would then connect back to Hydra later.

"Hopefully people who've had mixed feelings about the show will now understand it was all part of a big plan," Tancharoen says.

Coulson himself has been struggling with how and why he was brought back from the dead after being "killed" in The Avengers, and he's thought something was rotten in S.H.I.E.L.D. for a while, Gregg says.

Much of the show is "about a company man who finds out that everything he's dedicated his life to is not what he thought it was. To have everything dissolve around him to the point that S.H.I.E.L.D. itself is in smoking ruins (and have) that crisis of faith is such an amazing thing to explore," he says.

Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) has had a rough season, from dealing with the ramifications of his resurrection to the new threat of Hydra.(Photo: Kelsey McNeal, ABC)

Coulson and his team are forced to deal with more secrets coming to the fore plus some new characters: Patton Oswalt guest-stars as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Eric Koenig, Adrian Pasdar is Col. Glenn Talbot and Amy Acker plays a cello-playing love interest for Coulson mentioned in passing in The Avengers.

The main cast was left mostly speechless after they learned of the series' turn following the movie — "The girls were a bit shocked, but Iain was like, 'Yeah, that's really cool,' " Tancharoen says — yet Gregg believes everybody's been energized by the influx of treason, drama and continued surprises leading to the season finale. Clark Gregg is the biggest dork on the planet

"I'm a little old for it, but I'm the one texting, 'OMG! OMG! Oh no, you traitor!' It's kind of hilarious," he says. "People are racing to their car to read the new scripts and find out what new Hydra betrayal is going to be revealed."

Welp, I'm stupid excited.

The most hilariously bad cosplay outfits on a budget

Perhaps we’ve been pampered with admiring the mad skills of too many good cosplayers out there. At the other end of the spectrum of cosplay greatness is a particular Thai cosplayer, Anucha Saengchart, whose brand of Lowcost Cosplay is defyingly, howlingly bad. We think we have seen everything now.

Pedro Pascal On Oberyn’s Bisexuality, Going “All In” On Nudity And More!

This week saw the return of Game Of Thrones, and with it the intriguing new character of Oberyn Martell, aka The Red Viper (played by Pedro Pascal). Oberyn instantly shows himself to be, shall we say … and equal-opportunity letch.

Vulture sat down with Pedro to discuss the Red Viper, and what we can look forward to seeing. On his character’s bisexuality:

The Red Viper enjoys life. He does not discriminate in his pleasures. This is the way he understands life, to live it to its fullest. And to limit yourself in terms of experience doesn’t make any sense to him — what’s beautiful is beautiful. And I love that what George R.R. Martin created is this brilliant, progressive person who makes a lot of sense to me. He’s a lover and a fighter. He’s going to do it, everything, to its fullest. So why leave out girls or boys, you know what I mean? That’s what’s so amazing about this character that George R.R. Martin created and David and Dan are translating onto screen: It’s just very punk-rock. It doesn’t make any sense to him to limit his experience of pleasure, so it’s not making a point, but it literally doesn’t make any sense to deny yourself something beautiful, whether it is wine or food, a man or a woman, being a father or being a lover or being a fighter. Always live to the fullest. I think that’s a brilliant, kind of progressive thing that they’re telling in this story. They’re really seizing the opportunity to get a very cool message across.

RHOA: "You Fire Porsha... And We Walk"

The entire cast of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" -- minus one -- is threatening to walk off the show if Porsha Williams is fired over her fight with Kenya Moore.

The one holdout -- Kenya Moore.

Sources close to the show tell us the women hatched their plan this weekend at Kandi Burruss' wedding ... telling the show's producers how much they despise Moore because of all the drama she stirs up.

As we reported ... Williams attacked Moore during taping of the reunion special ... and producers may use the bitch fight as justification for giving Porsha the axe.

We're told since the brawl, ALL housewives' contracts for next season have been put on hold -- until show honchos figure out what to do with Porsha.

But sources tell us the women have made it clear ... they'll walk if Porsha gets fired ... and we're told NeNe Leakes and Phaedra Parks are making a play to get Kenya fired instead.

K-Fed and wife welcome 6th child

Sixth time's a charm!

Kevin Federline and wife Victoria Prince welcomed a new baby girl into their family on Sunday, making this child No. 6 for the former backup dancer.

"Words cannot express the joy my children bring me," he wrote on Instagram on April 6 along with a photo of a colorful flower arrangement in a tiny red wagon with the words "It's a Girl!"

"We are very excited to welcome the newest member of our family," he continued and tagged Prince. "I love you with all my heart, @crownv_16"

K-Fed is already the proud papa of sons Sean, 8, and Jayden, 7, with ex-wife Britney Spears. Before that he fathered two children with actress Shar Jackson — Kori, 11, and Kaleb, 9.

Aside from her half siblings, Prince and Federline's new baby will be the little sister to their oldest daughter, 2-year-old Jordan.

The couple was married in August in Las Vegas after five years of dating.

Veep Season 2 Bloopers

The season 3 premiere of Veep aired Sunday night, but it’s still not too late to mine a few more laughs from season 2. Tony Hale posted a few bloopers from shooting the end-credits scene in the episode “Running,” in which Vice President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) does not appear to be following through on a pledge that she made to her body man, Gary (Hale), to attend his parents’ 40th anniversary party. As you can see in the clip below, it’s amazing that the pair ever finished the scene. Of course, these two have a history of cracking each other up.

Australian "Boy Band" 5 Seconds of Summer Interview + Song Collab with All Time Low's Alex Gaskarth

Old news: The popularity of One Direction. Actual news: The exploding success of 5 Seconds of Summer, the quartet of Australian teenagers who will open for 1D during two late-August shows at Soldier Field and sold out their entire North American headlining tour, including a stop April 17 at Riviera, in a measly five minutes. If that doesn’t impress you: They’ve already been No. 1 on the iTunes album chart in 42 different countries. Also of note: The members of 5SOS actually play instruments and write their own songs.

By phone in late March before the group’s EP, “She Looks So Perfect,” arrived April 1 on Capitol Records, singer Luke Hemmings, 17, and bassist Calum Hood, 18, got goofy.

What they know about Soldier Field’s usual occupants, the Chicago Bears:

Calum Hood:
I’m going to have to go for I don’t know anything.

Luke Hemmings: I don’t know anything about the Chicago Bears, but I know a few things about bears. I know they eat fish out of rivers sometimes. They like salmon. They’re cuddly-looking, but they’re very vicious. I don’t know anything about the Chicago Bears, but I imagine that the team is made up of bears.

Collapse )

I'm gonna be honest here: This is just a blatant excuse to make a pseudo-All Time Low post. 5SOS is cute though. They're 1D but with more instruments and slightly less attractive, so it makes perfect sense for why 5SOS is opening for 1D.

Now with 1D gifs added to further justify the tag.

IRL Ezra Fitz Directs, Stars in New Gucci Film

James Franco may have been embarrassed over unknowingly pursuing a 17-year-old girl via Instagram recently, but the 35-year-old actor isn't done chasing after other ladies -- at least, not in his new short film for Gucci, in which he's seen going after a woman at L.A.'s Chateau Marmont on Sunset Boulevard.

In the retro-inspired, melodramatic clip -- directed by and starring Franco, who's also the face of Gucci's Made to Measure fragrance for men -- sees the Palo Alto actor pursuing model Natalia Bonifacci (she's 28) at the famous West Hollywood hotel, with Daddy's song "The Charming Man" setting the seductive mood. The one-minute spot was made as part of Gucci's spring campaign for its Techno Color sunglasses collection.

Franco also teased his new Gucci film on Instagram, and don't worry -- no scandal was involved, at least, that we know of.

SZA Talks 'Z' Album & Being the Only Girl In Top Dawg Entertainment

A year ago, if you lived in New York and were running low on moisturizer, SZA might have been your girl. Back then she was working the floor at the cosmetics retail chain Sephora, "standing around with an ear piece in [and] helping people out with their face cream."

Today, her job is a little more high pressure. The 24-year-old singer is on the verge of releasing one of the year's most anticipated debuts, "Z," which arrives Tuesday, care of white-hot label home Top Dawg Entertainment. The project features cameos by Kendrick Lamar and Chance the Rapper, with production duties handled by the likes of Emile Hayne, Mac Miller, DJ Dahi and Toro Y Moi.

"Z" sounds like the future, or at least SZA's vision of one — a genre agnostic utopia dripping with mood and SZA's own gossamer vocals. "Z" straddles the line between minimalist R&B, '80s synth pop and soul. It sounds like Jill Scott in a pillow fight with Jessy Lanza. It sounds like a Frank Ocean fever dream.

"I didn't expect people to like my music or to take to it the way they have," SZA says. "After 'See.SZA.Run' and 'S,' I originally thought I would do another EP and that it would be this little thing… but then everything blew up. It's different now. I feel like I owe people more."

She first met the TDE guys during CMJ 2011, when her boyfriend's clothing company sponsored a show where Lamar was playing. A friend attending the show with her foisted early SZA songs onto TDE president Terrence "Punch" Henderson, who liked what he heard and stayed in touch.Collapse )

Ayoade Adoration Association™ Post III

To fans of hit comedy The IT Crowd, Richard Ayoade will probably always be known as super-geek Moss, but his second film The Double sees him carving out a name as a talented director.

Richard Ayoade is definitely not one to blow his own trumpet. Despite a jam-packed CV, the comedian, actor, writer, TV presenter and director starts our interview by describing himself in simple terms, as "an underwhelming man in his 30s".

Perhaps he is just identifying with the protagonist in his new film The Double - a surreal reworking of Dostoevsky's novella of the same name. Ayoade however, has done plenty to get noticed. He shunned a career in law (after studying at Cambridge) to grace our TV screens in cult comedies such as The IT Crowd, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and The Mighty Boosh. He is also a regular on comedy panel shows such as Channel 4's 8 Out of 10 Cats, an experience he likens to "being in a controlled fire".
Richard Ayoade on directing his surreal second film

Richard Ayoade – the actor and director whose credits include numerous music videos for Arctic Monkeys plus cult film Submarine – says it was "a thrill" to cast Dinosaur Jr frontman J. Mascis in The Double, his latest movie.

Speaking about the musician, Ayoade says: "I knew he could act because he was in [1992 movie] Gas Food Lodging, and he has this great persona that he has and it just felt right. He's my favourite musician so, yeah, it was a complete thrill having him in it."
Richard Ayoade: it was 'a thrill' casting Dinosaur Jr's J Mascis in new movie (video interview)

"The premise seemed unique to me: this character who’s so lowly and invisible. That the double appears and no one notices seems to me to be a really remarkable way to take that story. You feel that if you had something as high-concept as that happen, everyone would react to it and it would spiral out of control. But it’s more that he’s just squeezed out and disappears. That seemed like a brilliant nightmare. It feels so funny, right and sad at the same time.

"I feel he’s a little like Jack Lemmon, Dustin Hoffman or James Stewart. When I think of their roles, I don’t think of enormous physical transformations but they play very different parts. Because these characters had to be very different but look the same, he seemed really right. He’s funny without being a comic actor. He was perfect."
"Jesse Eisenberg will make a good Lex Luthor"

Nonbelievers will be escorted off the premises.

Scarlett Johansson: "[I'm being called] the new face of apartheid."

Scarlett Johansson covers the new issue of Vanity Fair, and here’s what the 29-year-old Captain America actress had to share with the mag:

On it being easier dating Romain Dauriac than a fellow actor: “It is. But it’s more than that. We do different things. He’s in the whole art-scene world. So it’s nice, because we can enjoy each other’s worlds, but we don’t have our crazy conflicting schedules and all that other stuff to contend with. And, you know, of course, actors, in general, they’re obsessed with emotions. Although, he’s French, so he’s also probably overly into his emotions.”

On the SodaStream controversy: “[I'm being called] the new face of apartheid. There’s a lot of anti-Semitism out there.”

On social media: “All of it drives me crazy.”

Selena Gomez Stalker Charged with Felony!

A man arrested twice in one week at Selena Gomez's house was charged Monday with felony stalking and violating a court order to stay away from the singer-actress.
Che Cruz, 20, pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday afternoon, and his bail was set at $160,000. He was arrested Friday after he returned to Gomez's home just hours after he was released from jail in a case in which he was ordered to stay away from her.
The Los Angeles district attorney's office said Cruz jumped the fence at Gomez's home before his second arrest.
If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison. He is due back in court April 17.
Cruz was first arrested after breaking into Gomez's guest home March 30, and he acknowledged in court Wednesday that he trespassed at her property. He was ordered to stay away from Gomez and her home, was put on probation, and was sent to jail for up to 45 days, but he was released two days later.
Within hours of his release, sheriff's deputies re-arrested Cruz at Gomez's home in Calabasas.
Gomez, the former "Wizards of Waverly Place" actress turned pop star, was at home when Cruz was arrested the first time after he broke into her guest house. It was unknown whether Gomez was home during Friday's intrusion.

Gremlins reboot being fast tracked at Warner Brothers

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Some quick Gremlins news is coming in for your weekend enjoyment as Ain't it Cool News is reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures is moving quickly on rebooting Joe Dante’s Steven Spielberg-produced flick. Given that we've been talking about this for years, we're not so surprised.

In Dante’s 1984 film, a boy (Zach Galligan) inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town. The film spawned a sequel, the 1990 Gremlins 2: The New Batch, in which Gremlins take total control over the building of a media mogul.

Amy Poehler to Join Tina Fey as Co-Star of Film Comedy “The Nest”

It does seem like best friends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are going to star in a new movie together. Tina was already announced as acting in and producing “The Nest,” a comedy from Universal directed by Jason Moore. Now I’m hearing that Amy will be her co-star and co-producer. Jay Roach, award winning director of many hit comedies and HBO’s “Game Change,” is said to be on board as a producer, too.

The two funny ladies would play sisters who get kicked out of “The Nest” when their parents sell the family home and move into a condo. (This just happened to my family, so I can relate to it.) Kate and Maura decide to throw one last blow out party, as they were once famous for just that when they did live at home. Hilarity ensues.

Amy and Tina, who could be the female Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, have not been in a movie together since “Mean Girls” in 2004. If they make this comedy and get it done in time, Amy and Tina can promote it on the Golden Globes next January when they co-host the show.

Shooting begins the second week of June in New York.

This article writer apparently didn't know they were in Baby Mama and Anchorman 2 together, smh.

House of Cards May Have to Film Elsewhere After Losing Incentives

House of Cards may be leaving Maryland thanks to the kind of political wrangling that makes the show so fun to watch. A bill to increase the amount of tax-incentive money allocated to film and TV shoots in the state failed late Monday night in the state legislature, all thanks to a single clause.

The Washington thriller has historically gotten what it has requested from Maryland's legislature. Although in past years only about $7.5 million per year has been set aside for production companies in advance, the first two seasons of the show managed to net $26.6 million in tax incentives. But this time around, the show was offered only $4 million. Producers wanted $11 million more than that.

KimYe Mega Post: Krisis & Wedding Rumors & Kanye Calling Out to Athletes " I WON KIM'S ASS"

Kimye strikes again, folks. Just when you thought their wedding couldn't be more elaborate - or more expensive - the Vogue cover stars have even more tricks up their sleeves.

Reportedly, the high-profile couple will spend approximately $125,000 on each of their 200 guests according to a source that told Grazia UK reports StyleCaster. In case you didn't want to do the math yourself, that comes out to a total of 25 million (yeah, we gasped, too) on the guests alone. Nevermind the lavish, hand-delivered wedding invitations, which reportedly cost $1,000. "Kim and Kanye wanted the invites to be as lavish as possible, and commissioned a couture designer to create gold silk boxes containing a photo album of their fairytale romance and a silk invite etched in real gold leaf with a clasp of natural pearls," the source says.

As for the 125K goodies? This is what it will reportedly get guests: $500 bottles of Bollinger champagne, $200 Creme de la Mer products, handmade souvenir trinkets with Kim and Kanye's initials etched in Swarovski crystals, bottles of scents from local perfumeries, and $250 vouchers for treatments at the hotel's spa. Talk about a wedding favor!

Single Ladies Saved from Cancellation

Single Ladies," the romantic comedy series about three female best friends working in the fashion, music and celebrity world that was just canceled by VH1 after three seasons, is coming back.

Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment company, which produces "Single Ladies," is developing an all-new fourth season as part of a new exclusive programming partnership with BET Networks' Centric, which is being positioned as the first network aimed at black females.

Under the deal, Flavor Unit, which is owned by Latifah and her partner Shakim Compere, will produce new shows in addition to "Single Ladies" for the network.

Casting for the new season is still up in the air. The VH1 show starred LisaRaye McCoy, Charity Shea and Denise Vasi, but it is unclear if any of the cast members would return. The third-season finale aired last month.

As part of the deal, Centric also will start airing episodes of Queen Latifah's syndicated daytime talk show, which premiered last year to solid ratings, in prime time.

The entertainer's production company also produces BET's comedy series "Let's Stay Together."

Cap #3 vs BvsS - Warner Brothers responds

Yesterday we got confirmation that Marvel and Disney was going a head with plans to release Captain America 3 in the original May 6, 2016 release date that they had earmarked for an unnamed movie. This set us up for what will be a showdown of titans as Warner Brothers’ Batman Vs Superman movie has also moved into the slot after being pushed back from July of 2015. Someone is going to flinch, right? It doesn’t seem to be Marvel with them confirming as well as having the release date first. So it would seem as if Warner Brothers will have to be the one to move.

Wrong. Bloomberg ran a piece about the potential show down of superhero movie giants and have quoted president of domestic distribution for Warner Brothers, Dan Fellman as saying at this time, they don’t plan to move Batman Vs. Superman. “It doesn’t make a lot of sense for two huge superhero films to open on the same date but there is a lot of time between now and 5/6/16. “However at this time, we are not considering a change of date for Batman vs. Superman,” he said. Disney had no comment on the potential showdown.

The release day spat has had Marvel and DC fans at each others throats as to who should move. For me it’s surprising that WB picked the spot to begin with knowing that Marvel could put a heavy hitter, like Captain America, in the spot. I believe that Batman Vs Superman will win the battle, but will it cost DC/WB the war? Only time will tell, and we will keep you up to date with info regarding the release date right here at Comic Book Therapy.

After Peaches Geldof was found dead at 25 on April 6, police who searched her home that night say they found no evidence of ‘hard drugs, no suicide note and no visible signs of injury’ at the scene.

Peaches Geldof‘s sudden and shocking death has led many people to speculate that the English model and TV presenter may have died of a drug overdose, but so far there is no proof that that theory is true. Tom Hiddleston Threatens to One Day Play a Normal Guy

Tom Hiddleston can pull off extreme looks. In The Avengers, he strutted around in Loki's two-foot horned helmet. For Midnight in Paris, he finessed F. Scott Fitzgerald's prim finger waves. And in his latest, Jim Jarmusch's vampire romance Only Lovers Left Alive, Hiddleston lounges bare-chested in velvet-cuffed robes. The only style he can't swing — at least, as far as casting directors seem to think — is modern, everyday mortal.

Consider his last 12 months. As if out to prove his range, the 33-year-old British actor played a god in a Marvel blockbuster (Thor: The Dark World), took Only Lovers to Cannes, clocked three months performing Coriolanus in a 250-seat London theater that was once a banana-ripening house, and, three days after the closing curtain, bounced to Toronto, where he's shooting the Victorian ghost story Crimson Peak with Guillermo del Toro. ("He's like a great Mexican bear," he laughs. "I hug him every day, repeatedly.") Even with all that, there's a huge swath of things he has yet to do: contemporary thrillers, clever dramedies, romantic comedies, and anything, well, normal.

"It's crazy, because I was born in 1981 and I'm alive and well in 2014 — it's not that I'm conscientiously not doing contemporary stuff," insists Hiddleston. "I think it's really difficult to make a good romantic comedy. I'd love to play them; they just don't tend to come my way at the moment. I'm taking it as a compliment one way or another, but it's very much an ambition of mine to wear jeans."

Six Stephen King novels to be re-issued as special editions

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

There is no greater 'master of horror' in the history of the genre than Stephen King, who has written some of the most enduring tales of fright of all time. King burst onto the scene in the early 70s with books like Carrie and The Shining, and he's still to this day churning out incredible works of written art, including the recently released Shining sequel Doctor Sleep.

In celebration of the King's 40+ year reign of terror, Cemetery Dance Publications has just announced that they'll be releasing six of his classic works in the form of Special Edition books, which are going to be as limited as they are deluxe. First up will be Carrie, set for release in the summer of this year, followed by Salem's Lot, The Shining, Night Shift, The Stand and Pet Sematary; all books that defined King and made him a household name, in the 70s and early 80s.

Like all of these Special Edition books will be, Carrie is jam packed with bonus features including an introduction by King as well as brand new interior and exterior artwork. It's now available for pre-order over on Cemetery Dance's website, with one edition (limited to 3,000) selling for $85 and another (limited to 750) going for $225. An even more limited version sold out in less than an hour, and the others aren't expected to last too much longer.

Head over to Cemetery Dance Publications to learn more and pick up a copy for yourself. The other five books in the series will be released in six month increments.

Rob Lowe: Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Beautiful

Being a pretty boy in Hollywood is a bad thing, according to Rob Lowe. But some heartthrobs were able to succeed critically—by playing against type.

In the picture-perfect world of Hollywood, you’d think a set of gleaming teeth, perfect cheekbones, and a chiseled jaw would mean you were set for life. But according to Rob Lowe, a man who possesses all of these qualities, being too pretty as an actor is actually a detriment.
He told The New York Times: “There’s this unbelievable bias and prejudice against quote-unquote good-looking people, that they can’t be in pain or they can’t have rough lives or be deep or interesting. They can’t be any of the things that you long to play as an actor. I’m getting to play those parts now and loving it. When I was a teen idol, I was so goddamn pretty I wouldn’t have taken myself seriously.”

Being Human (US) Series Finale Recap: How Did it all End?

Being Human, the story of four supernatural roommates and their journey to blend in with everyday, ordinary people, took it’s final bow Monday night.

Over the past four seasons, fans of Being Human – which adapted from the British show of the same name - have come to love – and fear – the unusual group all living under one roof: Aidan (Sam Witner), a tortured and troubled vampire; werewolves Josh (Sam Huntington) & Nora (Kristen Hager); and ghost Sally (Meaghan Rath).

When Syfy announced the shows cancelation earlier this year, fans of the series were surprised of the news – Being Human has had pretty steady ratings over it’s four season run. However, the move was something that executive producers Anna Fricke and Stefan Pieszczynski -along with series star Witner and other cast members- wanted.

Matthew McCona-SLAY Is Still Wearing His True Detective Pants & more FUN FACTS!

Between winning the Best Actor Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, stealing Wolf of Wall Street with less than six minutes of screen time and starring in the critically-acclaimed HBO show, True Detective, Matthew McConaughey is having the best year ever. So when we received an email asking us if we wanted to interview him about being the face of Dolce & Gabbana “The One” fragrance, we responded (say it with us now) “Alright, alright, alright!”

The actor (at the extreme height of what we’re calling McConaugheCool) was a pure delight on the phone — and we learned so many candid tidbits during our phone chat that we had to list them out for you. (P.S.: The photo at left was taken during our conversation. Okay, fine, there’s no proof of that, but it was the same day — so just go with it.)

1. He watched True Detective every week with the rest of the world. “They sent me all the episodes, but I wanted to check them out on Sundays.”
2. It takes him 12 minutes to go from “shower to out the door.”
3. He uses Kiehl’s face lotion every day.
4. When he has to put on a suit and “look as sharp as possible” he uses a Clarisonic and applies his signature scent (yep, it’s “The One.”)

Gwyneth Paltrow and Shailene Woodley's Natural Teeth Whitening Trick: Does Oil Pulling Really Work?

Coconut oil for whiter teeth? It's not as strange as you think.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Shailene Woodley have both recently shared their love for the all-natural teeth-whitening trick known as "oil pulling." "I just started 'oil pulling,' which is when you swish coconut oil around [in your mouth] for 20 minutes, and it's supposed to be great for oral health and making your teeth white," the newly single Goop founder told E! News.

Woodley also takes part in the ancient Ayurvedic technique for better oral health like stronger gums. "It’s amazing!" the Divergent star told Into the Gloss. "It really makes your teeth whiter, because the plaque on your teeth is not water soluble, it’s fat-soluble. So the lipids have to dissolve in fats, which is why oil works in your mouth. I prefer sesame oil, but they’re both good."

New Music Post: EMA Unleashes Her Much Anticipated New Album: "The Future's Void"

EMA: The Future's Void review – dystopian angst with a personal touch
Erika M Anderson's second album mines a rich seam of digital despair to stirring effect

There were few more arresting songs in 2011 than EMA's California, a track taken from her solo debut, Past Life Martyred Saints. It started with ersatz thunder and lightning, a link to Erika M Anderson's recent past playing in uncompromising drone bands. "Fuck California, you made me boring," she spat, Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon reincarnated as a 6ft South Dakotan.

The song was an organ-strewn hymn to all that Anderson left behind when she moved to the coast: the violence, the love. California was not all it was cracked up to be. "Tried to tell me love was free," EMA sneered. She named the friends and small-town misfits she abandoned – far more interesting souls than LA's demimonde hipsters. "I'm just 22/ I don't mind dying," EMA declared at one point. That wasn't dramatic 20-nothing posturing but a lift from Bo Diddley. Later there was another lift, this time from Camptown Races. California was fractured and complicated, and an unequivocally great track.

Gayest Cartoon Character of All Time Declared: And the Winner Is…!!!

Roger from “American Dad” — take to the stage and claim your prize!

The cocktail-swilling, wise-cracking space alien from Seth MacFarlane's Fox animated series has been deemed the Gayest Cartoon Character of All Time, after a bracket-style competition launched by Logo TV on March 18.

Roger was bestowed with the honor during a double episode of “RuPaul's Deag Race” on Monday night, snagging the crown after beating out wise-beyond-his-years baby Stewie from “Family Guy” and “South Park” favorite Big Gay Al.

“I'd like to thank everyone that voted for me. And I'd like to personally thank every MAN who voted for me … Tonight. Within a twelve mile radius,” Roger said of his victory.

The initial field of contenders was crowded with stiff competition, and fan favorites such as Scar from “The Lion King” and resident “Peanuts” tomboy Peppermint Patty suffering early elimination. The Elite 8 round saw the further elimination of contenders Vanity Smurf and “Scooby Doo” stalwart Thelma.

Congratulations to Roger! Go ahead and have a celebratory drink, big fella — oh, wait, you're probably already having one.

Shameless Self-Disclosure: An Ode to the Greatest Character in TV History, Mickey Milkovich

What does – and what should — the coming out process look like on TV?

Is it a requirement to depict tearful handwringing? Do characters have to put on misery pageants to court audience acceptance? And, if they perform their agony convincingly enough, then can they win a golden ticket to complex stories and true humanity?

Luckily, more television programs are realizing that harrowing coming out plotlines don’t have to be the apex of LGBTQ characters’ usefulness. But the shows that give coming out a casual, “no big deal” treatment don’t necessarily mirror all viewers’ experiences, either. They fail to acknowledge complicating factors in the lives of many LGBTQ people: factors that make lying low until “it gets better” seem downright impossible.

Showtime’s Shameless has confronted this omission head-on, leading audiences through a winding, protracted, and ultimately triumphant coming out story from one of the most subversive queer characters on television.

Inspired by the long-running British series of the same name, comedy-drama Shameless is a rare beast for American TV in terms of tone and content. At the show’s center is the Gallagher family, feebly helmed by alcoholic patriarch Frank (William H. Macy), living a hand-to-mouth existence on the South Side of Chicago. Shameless doesn’t pull punches when it comes to examining the far-reaching effects of multi-generational poverty, addiction, and mental illness. It also avoids condescension and pity. Shameless traffics heavily in gray areas with its deeply flawed, but usually not all-good or all-bad, characters. And whenever viewers are tempted to moralize, difficult truths emerge to muddy the waters.

2014 TV Season: Renewals, Cancelations, and Shows on the Bubble

Network upfronts are just over a month away, and the five broadcast networks are clearing their schedules of underperforming shows to make way for untested new ones that have all the promise in the world.

In the ad-based television model, ratings are still the primary factor that determines a show's success — even as people stop watching TV on actual TVs. When shows don't perform, networks have to give advertisers free make-up time, losing money in the process. Network can't justify keeping low-rated shows around.

Here are the shows that have been renewed and canceled so far, as well as TheWrap‘s predictions of which ones are likely to return, based on their ratings. We think the rest are on the bubble and could go either way.

Billy on the Street: For $1, Would You Have Sex With Paul Rudd?

Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscar selfie is reportedly estimated to be worth as much as one billion dollars. If any of the most famous painters throughout history could even conceive that amount of money, surely they could tell you that they probably wouldn’t be able to make such a work of art that would be valued so highly. Also, they wouldn’t be able to conceive that a goofy self-portrait was, apparently, the way to go. If there’s ever a time machine invented, let’s hope, through misuse of the said time machine, Rembrandt doesn’t find out about selfies. As time machines currently don’t exist, we’ll all just have to enjoy The Most Intentionally Funny Video of The Day.

Today’s MIFV is Billy Eichner asking strangers if they would have sex with Paul Rudd while Paul Rudd is standing right in front of them for his show Billy On The Street. It almost seems, in a delightful way, like Billy isn’t aware that he’s asking people if they would take only $1 to have sex with Rudd.

5 directions Mariah Carey could go with her new album (pictures inside!)

All the little Lambs are dying to know, what is Mariah Carey cooking up for her long delayed next album? She was expected to release new music on the heels of last summer's successful hashtag collaboration with Miguel, but in July she took to Twitter to announce it would be pushed back due to a creative backlog.

Immediately following that, Carey landed herself in the hospital with a dislocated shoulder, further delaying production. But then in November, we got a little taste of what Mariah had been doing with herself when she dropped the rumored title track, "The Art of Letting Go".

She didn't release any more new music until "You're Mine (Eternal)" came in February. With the Valentine's launch of that single came another nugget of news: Carey's new album was now slated for a May 6 release date and it was as yet untitled - meaning The Art of Letting Go was finally let go.

When Radio.com spoke to her on February 13 though, it was clear that Carey still wasn't quite sure what would be on this new album. But whatever it is, it will be led by old friend and production partner Jermaine Dupri. For the last month, Carey has been documenting herself in a "“make shift recording studio" on Instagram, once again teasing that this mystery project, due out within the month, is still in its early stages. So what has she got in store? We dreamt up a few scenarios.

Steve Harvey Gives Advice To Husband Who Doesn’t Like Wife’s Natural Hair

When a man’s wife decided to let go of the perms and embrace her natural hair, he was so shocked that he took cover from their home.

The couple appeared on the Steve Harvey Show recently to discuss the wife’s frustration over how negatively her husband has responded to her new hair style.

“The first time he saw it, he ran out of the house,” she said. “And then he came back in and asked if it was a wig. If so, take it off. He wasn’t very supportive of the natural state.”

It didn’t help that the husband, whose wife was clearly insecure about her hair makeover, made even more insensitive remarks during the segment.

“Of course, I try not to hurt my wife,” he said. “I love my wife with all of my heart, of course. I want to be supportive of her and the growing of her hair. All I ask is to see what else it can do. I can bare with the time that it takes for her hair to grow.”

Kurt Cobain’s Suicide Ruling Challenged in Upcoming Docudrama ‘Soaked in Bleach’

The investigation into Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain‘s death has been criticized by many for 20 years. All types of voices have screamed incompetence at police, while others shout conspiracy, believing that Cobain’s wife, Courtney Love, had a hand in Kurt’s death. Those themes have been turned into the docudrama ‘Soaked in Bleach, which will surely force viewers to reconsider their presumptions of Kurt Cobain’s suicide.

Interest in Kurt Cobain has hit a peak recently, as the 20th anniversary of his death recently passed by on April 5. Countless tributes were paid, but with the world focused on Cobain once again, the time couldn’t be more perfect to release a trailer for ‘Soaked in Bleach,’ a new docudrama featuring actors playing the roles of Cobain and Love.

The four-minute-long trailer showcases interview clips with individuals such as Private Investigator Tom Grant, who was hired by Love “to find her missing husband.” However, Grant shares that a number of red flags began popping up while dealing with Courtney Love, leading the investigator to believe something was awry. “This woman’s husband had just been found dead and there didn’t seem to be any sadness whatsoever. It’s not very often that a private investigator accuses his client of committing a crime.”

Further experts from the fields of Forensic Science, Forensic Document Examination and Investigative Journalism are also interviewed for the film, as is former Chief of Police for the Seattle PD, Norm Stamper. “I would tell you right now that if I were the Chief today, I would re-open this investigation.”

‘Soaked in Bleach’ is tentatively slated for a 2014 release. Watch the official trailer above. To check out the film’s Facebook page, click here.

Half a decade later Flop Roux is putting new music out

Exactly a year ago, La Roux reemerged with a handful of new tracks like “Sexotheque” that they’d been performing at live gigs, and we then caught Elly Jackson and co. serving them up at Coachella. However, after that initial flurry of excitement that a sophomore album was on the way, no news arrived. But now, just a few days after announcing a string of North American dates, there’s word that, finally, the British synth-poppers are ready to deliver Trouble In Paradise, the follow-up to their 2009 debut.

The album is due July 7 (so, July 8 in the US), according to a tweet from Disco Naivete, which DIY corroborated by noting that the information came from a newsletter showing upcoming releases sent by the French branch of La Roux’s label, Polydor.

'Beyond pain': Peaches Geldof, Paula Yates and one family's epic suffering

To comprehend why the death of Peaches Geldof – a famous young woman, albeit not famous for anything in particular – has prompted such public shock, one could focus on several factors. There's her young age (25), of course, her two young children (one is two years old, the other not yet 12 months) and the devastated family she leaves behind (husband, father, three sisters). But in order to understand properly the visceral sadness that followed, you need to look back further, all the way to 1995, when many of Geldof's fans and social media followers were not even born.

Back in the early 90s, the Geldofs – Bob, Paula, Fifi, Peaches and Pixie – were, before the Osbournes, before the Beckhams, Britain's first celebrity family.
