House of Cards may have made Netflix’s name as a source of must-see original content, but millions of Comcast customers aren’t going to need Netflix to watch the show anymore.
In a deal with Sony, Comcast will now sell its subscribers access to the first season of the political drama through its own Xfinity Store, Variety reports. In Hollywood terms, the arrangement might not be anything remarkable — just a new way of syndicating reruns. But cutting Netflix out of the picture for its signature show sends a clear signal that the entertainment and cable industries aren’t about to let some Northern California tech company change television without exacting a price.

Juliette Lewis is at a turning point. Admitting that most past news coverage about her was "usually about Brad Pitt or drug addiction, which hasn't been me since I was 22," she says, "I'm 40. I quit all my bulls--- at 22. There is growth. Get out of the past."
At present, Lewis has two films at the SXSW arts fest in Austin: Kelly & Cat, which Variety in its review called an "inspired match-up of underserved veteran Juliette Lewis and breakout newcomer Jonny Weston," and writer-director Kat Candler's darkly emotional Hellion, which premiered Sunday and costars Josh Wiggins as a struggling teenager and Aaron Paul as his father.
"I like doing roles that are rooted, where the character has a history and a range of emotion," says Lewis, who, as a young actress shot to fame with roles in the critically acclaimed What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Cape Fear and Natural Born Killers.
Off-screen she was causing excitement, too – being chased by paparazzi during her relationships with both Pitt and Johnny Depp. But that was then. Lewis says turning 40 is about expressing herself.
"I used to be really insular, really introverted, spoke very little words," she says. "I couldn't articulate myself." That means not only expressing herself with her screen work, but in the recording studio.
After her turns in the Oscar-nominated August: Osage County and the ABC series Secrets & Lies with Ryan Phillippe, Lewis is also preparing her new album, her fifth and her most recent since 2009's Terra Incognita. "I took five years off of movies, just making music and touring," she says. "I am mid-life, and this is a new chapter for me."
Nicolas Cage has a lot on his mind, and he wasn’t afraid to share his thoughts at a talk at SXSW Monday, moderated by his “Joe” writer-director David Gordon Green.
During the hour-long session, Cage talked about how his desire to become an actor stemmed from watching James Dean in “East of Eden” and “Rebel Without a Cause.” He then proceeded to discuss eloquently how film criticism has deteriorated and why it “sucks to be famous” nowadays.
“I started acting because I wanted to be James Dean. I saw him in “Rebel Without a Cause,” “East of Eden.” Nothing affected me — no rock song, no classical music — the way Dean affected in “Eden.” It blew my mind. I was like, “That’s what I want to do.” This was before everyone had a thing called a Smartphone, and before the advent of the “celebutard” — just being famous for famous’ sake. I’m not complaining, but it really sucks to be famous right now.”

SXSW: The 10 (Well, 5) Best Quotes from “A Conversation with Tilda Swinton”
Tilda Swinton has, perhaps not entirely purposely, cultivated a persona of genuine strangeness. Maybe it’s the offbeat roles she chooses, her fascinating romantic life, her tendency to turn up in, say, a glass case at MoMA. Or maybe it’s the fake Twitter account, @NotTildaSwinton.
But anyone attending her interview sidebar at SXSW last Saturday only experienced occasional flashes of that peculiarity; in the flesh and in conversation, Swinton is warm, eloquent, and wonderful. Rather than louse it up with a bunch of poorly-matched prose, your film editor decided to just get out of the way, and share some of her best moments from the panel.

It appears that their little one will be truly spoilt, as TMZ claims the couple headed to fancy baby store Petit Tresor in Los Angeles to kit out their bundle of joy's first room. According to the website, the 28-year-old beauty decided on an animal theme and forked out $1,800 on an 8ft. stuffed giraffe alone. The rest of the $20,000 budget was apparently spent on other large toy animals, lion bookends and artwork.

Jaimie Alexander will reprise her role from Thor and Thor: The Dark World in the episode, as Sif comes to Earth — ahem, I mean Midgard — on the heels of the evil Lorelei (Elena Satine, who made her debut in last week's episode), another character familiar to fans of the Thor comic book.
I spoke to Alexander about her SHIELD guest role, Sif’s dynamic with the team and more.

The last question you should be asking yourself when you're cruising Target's website and looking at pictures of the models showcasing the clothes is: "Where is her vagina?"
And yet, that's almost definitely what ran through people's minds when they stumbled across this horribly (and that's an understatement) photoshopped pic of a model wearing a Junior's bikini. Obviously they were going for that whole thigh gap look that people disturbingly crave, but they forgot to make sure that her uterus remained intact.
Young women, to be clear, you do not want your undercarriage to be this skinny. Because a huge chunk of it is missing, and you need that to reproduce, among other things.
Oh, but wait. That's not the only part of the photo that's embarrassingly hacked up. Take a look at Target's attempt to make her arms and waist a bit skinnier:

Farrah Abraham stars in two
So, instead of meeting guys on the street or in bars, the former Teen Mom 2 star has become a member of PlentyOfFish, an online dating website.
"I'm on PlentyOfFish!" Farrah told VH1 cameras in a deleted scene from Couple's Therapy, obtained by Wetpaint Entertainment on March 7. "I've picked out some guys that have been matching with my details of what I'm looking for."
Although Farrah has taken the first steps toward finding love, she doesn't seem all that ready for it because of all she's been through in the press recently -- and during her most recent relationships.
"I feel like I'm very vulnerable right now, and dating is even a hard subject to think about, so I kinda just am very cautious," she explained.
What She's Learned From Couple's Therapy
"I'm more comfortable because I've done a lot of work," Farrah said of her treatment, according to a March 7 Wetpaint Entertainment report. "I think I am more comfortable, in a better place. I just say keep progressing, keep learning from your past, watch yourself back. When you watch yourself back you learn a lot."
Farrah, who starred in a sex tape last year, even took a vow of celibacy during her stint on the show. "I'm waiting," she said. "Dr. Jenn told me to wait about six months and I feel like whether I wait six months or I wait five years, I'm going to just wait for the right person."
So far, Farrah hasn't found anyone worth dating, so she's focusing her on her career and her family, which consists of herself and her daughter Sophia when she's not ~doing her own thing~.

The Recording Industry Association Of America has issued a Platinum certification to Cassadee Pope's breakthrough hit "Wasting All These Tears" for sales surpassing one million downloads. This makes Pope the first solo female Country artist to achieve a Platinum-certified debut single since Taylor Swift did so in 2006 with "Tim McGraw."
Cassadee first gained fame in the Country Music industry thanks to her winning Season 3 of NBC's The Voice, often dominating the iTunes charts prior to her victory on the show. Pope returned to The Voice last summer to perform her hit song, which served as the lead single to her Republic Nashville debut Frame By Frame, which topped the Billboard Country Albums chart and reached the Top 10 on the all-genre Top Albums Chart. This made Cassadee Pope only one of two solo women in the past five years to top the Country chart with a debut album release.
Cassadee Pope is currently riding Country airwaves with her follow-up single "I Wish I Could Break Your Heart." The accompanying video has already amassed over 640,000 views.
In addition to her burgeoning Country Music career, Pope has also worked as an ambassador for the Outnumber Hunger initiative with Big Machine Label Group, General Mills, and Feeding America. On April 4, Pope will join her labelmates at "Outnumber Hunger Live!" during the ACM Party For A Cause Festival, after which Pope will head to Nashville for a performance at the 2014 NCAA Woman's Final Four on April 8.
You can catch Cassadee Pope live on the road this summer with Tim McGraw's Sundown Heaven 2014 Tour. Pope has previously toured with Rascal Flatts and Dean Brody. For tour dates and more, visit www.cassadeepope.com.

'Sherlock' actor Benedict Cumberbatch insists he wants to play a dumb character after playing intellectuals.
Benedict Cumberbatch wants to play a ''dumb'' character.
The 'Sherlock' actor, who has just completed 'The Imitation Game', a biopic of British cryptographer, Alan Turing, insists he's ready for a less intellectual role.
The 37-year-old star told T magazine: ''I always seem to be cast as slightly wan, ethereal, troubled intellectuals or physically ambivalent bad lovers...
''I am so ready to play a really dumb character.''
Benedict, who has also won awards for his role as Victor Frankenstein and his monster in the West End production, became a huge star after taking on the part of the titular detective in BBC1's 'Sherlock' but admits he's not the nicest character to play.
He said: ''I always make it clear that people who become obsessed with him or the idea of him - he'd destroy you...
''He is an absolute b*****d.''
The actor is uncomfortable in the spotlight but has quickly realised the best way to stay undetected is not to draw attention to himself.
He explained: ''There is a way of just shadowing through. The higher the walls, the more dark the windows, the bigger the sunglasses - the more people are going to look.
''The greatest disguise is learning how to be invisible in plain sight.''

True Detective came to an end in the US last night, with fans taking to Twitter to gush over the bittersweet moment, of what was a celebrated finale of an all too short series.
Created by Nic Pozzolatto, the eight-part series stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson and tells the story of a murder investigation spanning 17 years.
With just eight episodes and confirmation that Matthew at least won't be back for a second run, fans have turned the HBO series into a mega hit with talk of Emmys and Golden Globes for the stars next awards season.
Fans agree that Oscar winner Matt deserves an accolade for playing Rust in the series with one tweeter declaring: "True Detective was fantastic. McConaughey has more awards coming his way #AlrightAlrightAlright".
"True Detective needs to win every television award out there, and then we should make up a few extra ones, so it can win those too", another added.
Others heaped praise on the show despite it's short running time: "True Detective finale does not remotely disappoint. Best 8-episode arc of anything I can remember".
Some tweeters weren't so sure though, with one left pondering why the finale left them unsatisifed: "Thought True Detective's ending was fine when I saw it. More I think about it, the more disappointed I get".
"Kind of underwhelmed by the true detective finale but i still liked it BUT NOW IT'S OVER AND I'M GONNA MISS IT SO MUCH", another posted.
Fans away from the US though just pleaded with Stateside viewers to lay off the spoilers: "If you spoil TRue Detective for me, I will come to your house and hit you over the head with a frying pan!!!" one angry fan warned. [lmaoooo]
Some fans of the HBO smash were left frustrated when the finale crashed their online streaming service.
The failure of HBO GO to keep up with the unprecedented demand for the concluding part of the drama left viewers on the East Coast with just a blank screen. The service's official Twitter account posted: "Due to overwhelmingly popular demand for #TrueDetective, we've been made aware of an issue affecting some users. Please try again soon."
The show has been a smash hit for the network in recent weeks, winning 2.33 million viewers for its premiere on January 12 and going on to float between the 1.9 and 2.6 million marks since.
The power of the McConaissance can no longer be denied!!! Praise ha!

Bill O'Reilly, who — according to Bill O'Reilly — has always gone out of his way to serve underprivileged youth, is not a fan of Beyoncé's sexy jam "Partition," not because there are no references in the song to his own sexual preferences (laying a "falafel" on someone's "pussy"), but because he thinks it sets a bad example for young black girls.
Sitting down with Russell Simons, the Fox News anchor complained:
"Explain this: Beyoncé...She puts out a new album with a video that glorifies having sex in the back of a limousine. Teenage girls look up to Beyoncé, particularly girls of color...Why on Earth would this woman do that? Why would she do it when she knows the devastation that unwanted pregnancies...and fractured families — why would Beyoncé do that?"
While Simmons attempted to bring the focus back to the book he was there to promote by telling O'Reilly that Beyoncé is an artist whose work reflects the culture we're living in, the host wasn't having it.
"You're dodging the question,"he badgered, somehow failing to realize that only person who could actually answer the question Why would Beyoncé do that? is Beyoncé herself. "I believe an entertainer like Beyoncé and a mogul like you have an obligation to protect children. Not put out exploitive garbage that you know harms impressionable children. I think Beyoncé — what she has done here — is inexplicable and I'm asking you, Russell Simmons, to explain it to me."

In some ways John was a highly complex person, but, in others, he was a person who retained his innocence. On one level he remained the kid he'd been in his home town. The fact that he still kept his childlike character probably saved him and helped him greatly when he was writing songs because he was always able to remember what it was like to be a child.
The first time we met, I didn't know who he was, but I found him totally, totally attractive - not that he was known as the most conventionally handsome man in the world but he had a charm which was very alluring and endearing . I think it was because he was so honest. Coming from New York, it took me a while to warm to English guys and John was the first one that I related to; there was something so human about him. It's never easy just to be yourself, but John was very good at that.
I was not very happy about it, but one of my strongest memories of John was the first time he made me laugh. He just grabbed an apple that was in my exhibition [in 1966, at London's Indica Gallery, Ono showed her avant-garde work which contained an apple on sale for £200] took a bite out of it and just looked at me. I was very, very upset because it was my work. I thought, How dare he, what a rude person! And I just looked at him and he could see that I didn't like it and he registered this and did a shy little smile and put it back on the pedestal. At the time I was very upset but when I thought about it after he left, it seemed rather sweet.
He had a very warm view of his past. He thought of Liverpool as a place that was incredibly wonderful. I didn't hear that from many others at the time. Some people who leave the city they were born in or grew up in say, 'Thank God I left'. But John always thought it was a great place and he loved it.
In the last week of his life he was planning to go visit his England on the QE2. He wanted to go to Liverpool and show the city he was from to his son Sean.
He was making very interesting statements all the time, especially towards the end. As if he sensed that something was about to happen to his life to change it all. But if you listen to his song Imagine, you will see that everything he was trying to tell his son Sean at the time is in there. All of it. He stuck to being himself to the end.

We've recently seen a couple of kids who got famous at a young age do some pretty crazy things. But while Miley Cyrus makes headlines for posing topless and Justin Bieber for alleged DUI arrests and just plain being a jerk, 'Duck Dynasty's' Sadie Robertson is making headlines for a very different reason. The 16-year-old 'Duck' heiress is famous for putting her faith first.
"I think people use fame as an excuse to lose their faith," Roberston told FOX411. "Faith is obviously my number one priority and I think you need to put God at the top of everything you do."
The overnight success of her family's hit A&E show has put Robertson in the spotlight, and the teenager is using her fame to help promote family values. "When we began 'Duck Dynasty,' we weren't starting it for fame," she said. "We started it to get the message of God out there."
Robertson says her family's show helped to fill a hole in today's television programming by providing wholesome, Christian values for families to enjoy together. "We could have easily done a reality show like everyone else," she said. "But it's our faith that catches people's eyes because sadly, it's not something we're used to seeing [on TV] these days." Robertson pointed out that there are several new Christian-themed films coming out this year. "It just takes one person to take a stance and begin doing something different. We think [the show] has done a good job of getting out God's message."

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson addressed his recent comments on balancing scientific discourse Monday night on “The Colbert Report.”
Host Stephen Colbert asked Tyson, who was promoting his new Fox documentary series, “Cosmos,” why he believed that opposing viewpoints were not necessary in every scientific debate.
“That would be a waste of everyone’s time,” Tyson said. “Once science has been established, once a scientific truth emerges from a consensus of experiments and observations, it is the way of the world. What I’m saying is, when different experiments give you the same result, it is no longer subject to your opinion. That’s the good thing about science: It’s true whether or not you believe in it. That’s why it works.”
Tyson, making his show-record 10th appearance on the program, told Colbert that Americans could make any arguments they wished, but he said no one has the right to be taken seriously.
“You get to say the world is flat because we live in a country that guarantees free speech, but it’s not a country that guarantees that anything you say is correct,” Tyson said.

Vogue Italia has caused a bit of controversy on American shores: its latest photo shoot, shot by acclaimed fashion photographer Stephen Meisel, is being tagged as "racist" because the model appears in what some outlets call "blackface." But is that really the case?
Let's get the following statements out of the way: the high fashion world -- indeed, the fashion world in general -- is notoriously exclusionary. There is no shortage of stories of women of color who encounter virulent racism at the hands of makeup artists, casting directors, and other people of note in the fashion industry. In fact, despite all of its current and inherent flaws, the reason the urban modeling industry came to exist in the first place is because it provided legitimate modeling opportunities to black, Hispanic, Asian, and other non-white models -- opportunities that did not, and still do not, exist in the "mainstream" fashion world. (The urban modeling industry has, today, become a code word for prostitution and stripping, but that's another story for another day...) Some statistics suggest that the average Fashion Week contains only one or two models of color, and many models today are looking to change that.
And certainly, several publications have spoken out against this latest racist gaffe by Vogue Italia (because no, it isn't the first) -- most notably, Hip-Hop Wired and E! News.

Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson of One Direction arrived at LAX on March 7 and were later seen working with Good Charlotte. Of course the dynamic duo were harassed upon landing at the airport but not by shrieking Directioners. Instead, they were pressed by the paparazzi.
