Zack Snyder: ‘Man of Steel’ sequel LITERALLY explodes Superman, Batman universes

The untitled “Man of Steel” sequel hasn’t yet gone into production, and it’s already the most controversial movie in fandom.

Chalk that up to director Zack Snyder’s somewhat unconventional casting choices. First, comics stalwarts expressed surprise and skepticism in August with the revelation that Ben Affleck would inherit the cape and cowl from actor Christian Bale, taking on the role of Batman opposite Henry Cavill’s Superman in Snyder’s much-anticipated superhero sequel, the follow-up to his 2013 blockbuster that grossed more than $668 million at the worldwide box office.

Then came the announcement that Israeli actress Gal Gadot, best known for her work in the “Fast & Furious” films, would play Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in the movie, and the uproar started anew. Just last month, fresh fandemonium was heaped upon the movie with the announcement that boyish “Social Network” star Jesse Eisenberg, 30, had claimed the part of Superman’s traditionally burly, bald and middle-aged arch nemesis Lex Luthor.

A month before physical production on the Superman-Batman movie is set to begin -- and just days before the Friday opening of the Snyder-produced “300: Rise of an Empire,” director Noam Murro’s follow-up to Snyder’s revolutionary 2007 action film “300” -- Hero Complex caught up with the filmmaker who revealed exclusive details about his latest directorial project.

Snyder spoke candidly about keeping tabs on fanboy “talk-back” and how outcry is “reassuring and frustrating at the same time.”

Stu Snyder Stepping Down From Cartoon Network

Stu Snyder

Stu Snyder, president and chief operating officer of Time Warner's Turner Animation unit, is exiting.

Snyder, who has overseen Turner's animation efforts, including the Cartoon Network, for six years, told his staff that he is resigning at the end of the month.

"It is with mixed emotions that I share with you the news that I will be leaving the company at the end of the month," Snyder said in an email. "I have had the privilege of working and partnering with some of the most creative, talented and fun people in the business, who I will miss working with every day."

Snyder's departure comes in the wake of a new management regime taking the reins at Turner. In January, John Martin was promoted from chief financial officer of Time Warner to chief executive of Turner. As part of the restructuring, David Levy, Turner's head of sales and distribution, was named president.

Tensions between Snyder and Levy led to the former's decision to resign, a person familiar with the matter said who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.

In his own email to staff, Levy praised Snyder's tenure but added that "this is an opportunity for fresh thinking."
No replacement for Snyder has been named.

Cartoon Network is best known for "Adult Swim," its popular prime-time block of animated shows aimed at the 18-34 demographic.

OWN's Lindsay Offers Sad, Boring Look at the Life of Lindsay Lohan

Sunday’s first installment of Oprah Winfrey‘s Lindsay docu-series (10/9c, OWN) was not unlike Lindsay Lohan, herself: tragic and confusing, yet strangely compelling.

That said, if you were hoping for a tabloid-style portrayal of Lohan’s “train wreck” existence, you were likely disappointed by the premiere, which presented the actress not only as a recovering addict, but as a hopeful survivor.

Sure, there was the occasional moment of insanity — I’m still not sure why Lohan found herself at that lingerie shoot, and any scene featuring mom Dina Lohan was pure gold — but for the most part, the premiere took itself very seriously.

In fact, it was almost boring at times, which is probably how Lohan’s life should be if she honestly wants to better herself. We saw her hug her brother, smoke some cigarettes and hunt for an apartment. We’ve all had days like this — minus the swarm of paparazzi and memories of prison.

Future episodes look to be slightly more intriguing, with promos touting an appearance by Lohan’s dad — noted maniac Michael — and an explosive confrontation with Oprah. But the question is: Do you care enough to sit through several more hours of this?

'True Detective' creator Nic Pizzolatto looks back on season 1

Earlier tonight, "True Detective" concluded its first season — and, with it, the stories of Rust Cohle and Marty Hart. I spoke with the show's creator, Nic Pizzolatto, about the finale and the season as a whole (along with a vague but intriguing hint about season 2, which hasn't been officially ordered yet, but only because I suspect HBO is waiting until they've signed the actors they want before announcing).

The structure of the series means you could have done anything with the ending, up to and including killing the two leads, because you get a clean slate with the next season. Why did you choose this particular way to end the story?

Zoie Palmer comes out at Canadian Screen Awards

Last night, at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards, Zoie Palmer won the Fan’s Choice Award and in her acceptance speech, pulled a Jodie Foster and thanked her “incredible partner” Alex Lalonde. And by partner, sources say, she meant, you know, partner. Zoie also thanked her son, Lucas, who is said to be Lalonde’s son from a previous relationship.

Palmer was born in England but grew up in Newmarket, Ontario, getting involved in theater as a teenager. She’s been working steadily in the US and Canada since 2002, grabbing parts in made-for-TV movies like The Reagans and recurring roles in shows like the CTV teen series Instant Star and Global TV series The Guard. She recently starred in Sex After Kids, a romantic comedy written and directed by Jeremy Lalonde, who I think we can safely say is related to Alex Lalonde. Her role as Lauren on Lost Girl, which began in 2010, is what vaulted her into the hearts and minds of queer women all over the galaxy.

Zoie has been involved with TV Producer Alex Lalonde (who tweeted her excitement over Palmer’s win) for an unspecified period of time. The two were involved in some of the same projects in the past. Anthropologists report an early sighting of the two women together on twitter in 2011, but it’s impossible to know for sure.

Want To Avoid Movies Where The Dog Dies? This Website Can Help

Spare yourself unnecessary cinematic sadness.

When watching a movie, can you usually stomach seeing human characters perish, but melt into a weepy puddle of sadness when a dog dies? Then allow this web site—simply titled “Does the Dog Die?”—to be your movie-watching guide.

The site answers what it deems “the most important movie question” by listing hundreds of films and indicating one of three options: No pets die, a pet is injured or appears dead but ultimately lives, or no pets die. Clicking on a film takes you to a more in-depth explanation of what happened to the pet, but then you also run the risk of seeing other plot spoilers.

The site’s creators seem to be adding movies — both new and old — as they go. Films from 2014 that have made the list include Pompeii (a pet dies), Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (no pets die!) and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (no pets die again!) Older films include Bringing Up Baby (no pets die!) and Lassie Come Home (spoiler alert: a pet dies).

So next time you’re trying to decide what to stream on Netflix, do yourself a favor and check Does the Dog Die? first. You can spare yourself unnecessary devastation — or at least grab some tissues and emotionally prepare yourself.

HIMYM's Cristin Milioti (the mother) on death conspiracies for the finale

As How I Met Your Mother enters the homestretch of its final season, wrapping March 31 on CBS, speculation has been rampant that Ted's (Josh Radnor) titular bride-to-be has been dead the entire time his adult self has been narrating the series. (The most recent, overtly cryptic, episode only fueled the morbid argument.)

Cristin Milioti very politely disagrees. The actress, who stopped by The Hollywood Reporter offices the day before the final day filming the nine-season comedy, seemed genuinely put off by the suggestion the series would end on such a dark note.

"That's insane," says Milioti. "There are some crazy conspiracy theories, which really makes me love the fans more... That is so crazy."

Calling the finale "beautiful," she also notes that there weren't any alternate endings written or filmed in an attempt to maintain secrecy. "They've had this vision for nine years, and it's in great hands," she says of co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. "They know exactly what they want to do."

Why Stephen Colbert doesn't like the Disney Channel

“The Colbert Report” host says it isn't funny and it kills him to see his kids watching it

His criteria has less to do with the level of objectionable content on a show, “The Colbert Report” told Jimmy Fallon on Friday's episode of “The Tonight Show.” It's all about the humor.

“As a comedian the one thing that's agonizing is when they come in and watch something that's not funny and has got a laugh track and I'm not going to say the Disney Channel, but the Disney Channel,” Colbert said. “It's like please you're killing me. It's like a chef watching their child eat dirt.”

Elisabeth Moss Calls Marriage To Fred Armisen Extremely Traumatic

Elisabeth Moss and Fred Armisen filed for divorce in 2010 after only one year of marriage, but the Mad Men star is still reflecting on the couple's relationship.

"Looking back, I feel like I was a really young, and at the time I didn't think that I was that young," Moss explains in the March 10 issue of New York magazine. "It was extremely traumatic and awful and horrible."

She continues, "At the same time, it turned out for the best. I'm glad that I'm not there. I'm glad that it didn't happen when I was 50. I'm glad I didn't have kids. And I got that out of the way. Hopefully. Like, that's probably not going to happen again."

(The interview also points out that "Armisen has since described himself as a 'terrible husband' on Howard Stern, a classification to which Moss nods in agreement.")

After news of the couple's split made headlines, Moss, 31, says that becoming tabloid fodder was an interesting experience for her.

"I always knew that the stuff that you read is not true, but when I was in the situation and you really, actually read things that you apparently said or did that are 100 percent made up … It’s just the strange, simple thing of, that's your heart they're talking about, and it just … it sucks."

But she admits that she understands America's fascination with fame: "I enjoy a little gossip. I like looking at photos of celebrities going to Starbucks."

Fox’s "Batman" Plan Raises Big Questions for Fans and Investors

Maybe Twenty-First Century Fox isn't all that interested in the Batman universe comics and film fans have come to love.

Deadline reports that actor Drew Powell has been cast to play the gangster Butch Gilzean in Gotham, Fox's TV adaptation that centers on Jim Gordon in the years before he becomes commissioner and Bruce Wayne before he becomes Batman.

In January, Fox Entertainment Chief Kevin Reilly said the studio had purchased full rights to the Batman mythos for Gotham. And yet, so far, his team seems intent on creating their own characters. Neither Powell's Gilzean nor the mobster he reports to, Jada Pinkett-Smith's Fish Mooney, exist in the Batman universe established by Time Warner's DC Comics. Rather, signs are that Gotham will be a universe unto its own, distinct not only from the comics but also Warner's 2016 film, Batman vs. Superman.

8 Things to Know About the Veronica Mars Movie

From the minute you hear Kristen Bell's hard-boiled voiceover, it's clear that some things never change — though Veronica might allege she has. Veronica Mars' titular hero claims to have moved on from her time as a teen detective ("Trust me, I know how dumb that sounds.") in favor of a prestigious career as a New York lawyer. Though Veronica might claim to be a marshmallow now, when she learns Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring) is a murder suspect (again!) she doesn't hesitate before resorting back to the righteously indignant and dogged detective we fell for all those years ago.
So who's Logan suspected of murdering this time? None other than Carrie Bishop (Andrea Estella), or as the world now knows her, Bonnie DeVille, troubled pop star and Logan's ex-girlfriend. (How many dead ex-girlfriends can one guy have?)
Can't wait to find out more? Here are eight things to know about the Veronica Mars movie before its premiere:

lily allen says her antifeminist quotes were made up

Lily Allen on controversial feminist comments: 'Those weren't my words'
Singer insists she was misquoted and misinterpreted

Lily Allen has responded to criticism surrounding her interview as guest editor of men's magazine Shortlist, insisting: "Those were not my words."

The singer was quoted in the magazine as saying, "Feminism. I hate that word because it shouldn't even be a thing anymore. We're all equal, everyone is equal. Why is there even a conversation about feminism? What's the man version of feminism? There isn't even a word for it. Menanism. Male-ism. It doesn't exist."

According to Shortlist, the singer went on to say, "I don't think men are the enemy. I think women are the enemy. I know that when I'm sitting in a restaurant and a really beautiful woman walks in, who's skinny, I instinctively think, 'Oh, she's really skinny and beautiful and I'm really fat and ugly.' So it's more of a competitive thing. It's weird. It's just really unhealthy and we're our own worst enemy."

Since the interview though, Allen has taken to Twitter to defend her controversial remarks. In a conversation with the user @Becca_DP, who published an article criticising Allen's recent stance, the singer wrote, "I deal with sexism and misogyny every day, I'm patronised on an hourly basis, so exuse me if your article has fucked me off." She then added, "They weren't my words, you interpreted them wrongly and SHORTLIST misquoted me."

Earlier, in a conversation with the user @HolyMoly, Allen said, "I think you rather missed my point. I said that I believe women are equal to men, we are all human. I can't believe that we're still having to have discussions about feminist [sic] because sexism should not exist anymore."

Justin Bieber Declares Selena Gomez 'My Baby' at Surprise SXSW Show [Video]

Austin, Texas — Justin Bieber just went and made everything official with girlfriend Selena Gomez during a surprise acoustic turn at this year’s SXSW.

“This next song goes out to my baby,” the 20-year-old declared onstage, while looking at Gomez who stood to the side in the Banger’s Sausage and Beer Garden venue.

Bieber’s dedication came just before he performed his 2012 hit “As Long As You Love Me” to a screaming crowd, many of whom sang along.

It follows his recent praise of Gomez’s 2014 BorderFest concert – which he attended – at the State Farm Arena as a “great show” amid a PDA-packed weekend in Texas with the actress-singer.

Mariska Hargitay producing documentary on rape kit backlog

Mariska Hargitay plays a sex crimes detective on Law and Order: SVU, but now the actress is taking her support for victims to another level by producing an upcoming documentary about rape kit backlog.

The documentary, Shelved, will focus on the many rape kits Detroit has failed to analyze and what can be done to stop the backlog from continuing. Rape kits are procedurally given to rape victims immediately after the reported crime and, when analyzed, often lead to identifying the DNA of the alleged attacker and then to the ultimate conviction of that individual. But according to The Detroit News, under-staffing and high costs have led to thousands of rape tests going unanalyzed in Detroit — among many other places. Hargitay wants to fix this.

This isn’t the first time Hargitay has shown interest in fighting sexual abuse. In 2004, Hargitay founded the Joyful Heart Foundation, an organization that supports victims of sexual crimes, such as child abuse or domestic violence.

News of Hargitay’s involvement with the film comes on the heels of last week’s White House announcement of an initiative that would put $35 million toward analyzing untested rape kits and other efforts to reduce sexual crime and support victims.

No date for Shelved is set yet. Others involved in the project include director Marc Levin, producer Trish Adlesic, and Joyful Heart Foundation CEO Maile Zambuto.

The police report said Salvesen then directed a public message on Twitter to Miley Cyrus saying he had left a note in the dressing room for her. In the message, Salvesen attached a photo of the entrance to the dressing room marked "Miley Cyrus."

“I’m a Fucking Indian Woman Who Has Her Own Fucking Show”

Mindy Kaling Fires Back at Diversity Complaints

When the question came, you could feel the room get just a little tense. The mood thus far had been jovial at “Running the Show: TV’s New Queen of Comedy,” a Marie Claire-sponsored panel discussion of The Mindy Project, spotlighting the show’s creator/runner/star Mindy Kaling, and the topics were fairly innocuous (her writing process, her next book, the recent Mindy/Danny cliffhanger). But when the time came to field questions from the mostly female audience, one woman posed this query: “You guys have a great, diverse set of characters, but was it a conscious decision for Mindy to be the only female doctor, and the only doctor color of show?” There were a couple of minutes of pleasant response, with co-panelists and Mindy co-stars Ike Barinholtz and Adam Pally earnestly praising their female cast members. But by then, Kaling had lost patience: “I look at shows on TV, and this is going to just seem defensive, but I’m just gonna say it: I’m a fucking Indian woman who has her own fucking network television show, OK?”

Justin Bieber -- VIDEOTAPED DEPOSITION -- Like You've Never Seen Him ... And It's Bad

Justin Bieber can be insulting, arrogant, snotty, ignorant and disrespectful ... and all in one sitting -- because that's exactly what he was like during his deposition last week in the lawsuit where his bodyguard allegedly beat up a photog.

TMZ obtained a copy of the entire 4 1/2 hour, videotaped depo ... and it's just unreal. We've boiled it down to what we think are the best 4 clips.

1. ARROGANT BIEBER -- He just can't hide his contempt for the photog's lawyer, and it comes out in pretty awful ways. We put some snippets together and you'll get the idea. It represents his attitude throughout the depo.

2. LOVESICK BIEBER -- Selena Gomez is clearly a hot button, because when the lawyer asks about her, everyone goes nuclear. Bieber eventually rips his mic off and he and his lawyer storm out.

-- He compares his interrogation to being grilled by Katie Couric or "60 MInutes." Simply hilarious.

4. DISRESPECTFUL BIEBER -- When asked if Usher discovered him, Bieber disses his mentor and says he was actually discovered on YouTube. The best part ... he clearly was trying to say he himself was instrumental in his success, but instead he says, "I was detrimental to my own career."
Truer words have never been spoken.

Rob Kardashian Feels Like His Weight Makes Him An Embarrassment To His Family

The 26-year-old reality star and sock designer visited a doctor on the latest episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and received a scary reality check. Rob Kardashian's doctor warned he risked death if he didn't change his lifestyle.

The portly reality star - who has been battling with fluctuating weight - sought medical help on the urging of his momager, Kardashain Klan matriarch Kris Jenner, and the family were horrified by the results of the tests. In scenes which aired on Keeping Up with the Kardashians on Sunday night, the doctor advised Rob was at risk of developing diabetes and eventual organ failure, prompting Kris to lose it with her 26-year-old son.

"Your liver is shutting down," she told him. "This is life-threatening at this point. You kan only sustain this level of being unhealthy for so long."

Rob - whose father Robert Kardashian died aged just 59 from esophageal cancer in 2003 - agreed he needed to make changes and was later praised by his personal trainer for his hard work in the gym.

The shocking news kame weeks after the sock designer - seriously, it's a thing - admitted to his older sister Khloe Kardashian that his weight gain has made him depressed.

"I've never felt so down depressed in my life," he said. "I'm trying to be in the fashion industry and I'm not going to be taken seriously when I'm fifty pounds overweight. It's embarrassing to the family."

Blind item!

His ups and downs

It’s hard to stay up. Every time he’s gone up, he’s always come back down. It was thought that that was only because he was young. And now, with children and a devoted wife, he was supposed to be able to hold it together. So far, sure, but just barely.

There were signs before Christmas but during the holidays, he injured his back on a ski trip. This was not widely disclosed and kept out of the press. Painkillers were prescribed. The big movie was pushed back. Cocktails were consumed in combination at events. No one remembers he actually went to rehab several years ago. Still, so far, he’s functioning. And things are great with his wife. She really tries to take care of him but she’s not always with him. When he’s out on his own, it gets messy. There have been times lately where he’s been so drunk, he’s the dude passed out on the couch when everyone else has gone home. Either that or he’s the dude who’s all over the tall, attractive model type at the Oscar party that his wife decided to skip. Oh yeah, that happened. It keeps happening. They were talking nose to nose. He gave her the full charm. A “later on” was definitely implied, while everyone around him just shrugged. Because it’s not the first time and it’s not the last time and it’s the secret they’re all expected to keep. Not because he doesn’t love the mother of his children, because he does, he really, really does. But between the pills and the alcohol, he’s losing control of that side of himself that’s been held in check for too long.

Guesses? I have not the slightest clue.

Taylor Momsen Talks New Pretty Reckless Album, Rock n' Roll Fashion!

The Pretty Reckless return this month with GOING TO HELL, their second studio album, after an extended period of touring and the title is, in part, a defiant sneer at the chain of events that ocurred during its making.

Taylor Momsen, 20, is she of the killer boots and peroxide mane, the raspy voice and provocative stage wear. But she’s also an uncompromising artist, devoted to the band she’s spent the last five years fronting and her ongoing development as a songwriter. Critics have often presented mixed views of The Pretty Reckless, some deriding them as “generic”, others eternally suspicious of Momsen’s graduation from actress to singer, but you can’t argue with the stats. Over a million combined singles and albums sold. Yeah, take that haters.

Little has changed with Momsen since first interviewing her several years ago. She’s as opinionated as ever though perhaps more careful with her words which are, today, spoken with the cracked, frail tones of one suffering with laryngitis. “I sound like a boy going through puberty,” she croaks with a wry smile.

The most obvious place start is ‘Going To Hell’, which closes a four year gap between full albums, and is the first new material since 2012.
It took a lot longer to record than we expected because we had a lot of tragedy occur during the recording of this record. We wrote the songs and had them ready to record and everything was great, then Hurricane Sandy came in and wiped out our studio so we lost of all of our gear and the studio and we had nowhere to go so that took time, rebuilding the studio. We finally got into the roll of things again then our producer’s wife passed very suddenly and unexpectedly and that stopped everything again because she was very much like a mother to the band. We’re still not over it at all and we wrote the song ‘Fuck The World’ after that. Then (after recording) there was the business side of things to sort out.

How did that kind of adversity alter making the album?
We wrote the song ‘Going To Hell’ after the hurricane so it’s affected some of the songs though the majority had been written before. The tragedy though has definitely added to the record.

Kids in the Hall reunite for 'Brain Candy' live table read

"Awful - terrible - dreadful - stupid - idiotic - unfunny - laboured - forced - painful - bad."

So spake the since-deceased Roger Ebert when Brain Candy, Kids in the Hall's putative entry into movie-stardom was released in 1996.

"Scott (Thompson) still dines out on that review in his one-man shows," says Bruce McCulloch, whose brainstorm it was to have the Kids (Thompson, McCulloch, Dave Foley, Mark McKinney and Kevin McDonald) do a live table reading of the film Tuesday at Toronto's Queen Elizabeth Theatre. It's part of Sketch Festival, a roundup of top sketch comedy troupes from around the country.

As it happens, Ebert's then on-air partner Gene Siskel had it right. He liked the movie - about a pharmaceutical company marketing a seriously-flawed "happy pill" called GLeeMONEX) - and predicted it would have legs as a cult film on the midnight madness circuit. It's a film I always feel compelled to watch when I run across it, channel-surfing.

BBC America set to air "The Real History of Science Fiction"

From Star Wars to 2001: A Space Odyssey, and from Jurassic Park to Doctor Who, each program is packed with contributors behind these creations and traces the developments of Robots, Space, Invasion and Time. Narrated by Mark Gatiss, Doctor Who writer, actor, and co-creator of the BBC’s Sherlock, the series determines why science fiction is not merely a genre… for its audience it’s a portal to a multi-verse – one that is all too easy to get lost in.

Set to air from April 19th , 10/9C on BBC America.

Le1f's Latest Is a Panty Dropper, No Matter Your Gender

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"I'm being really ratchet right now," the up-and-coming rapper Le1f tells me over the phone. He's on a train, and I've asked him what his wildest music video fantasy would look like. He laughs, but he doesn't demur. "I don't think I'm being like Marina Abramovic, but that's totally where I want to take it: pulling strands of pearls through wounds in my body while rapping. That sounds really crackin' to be honest."

Raul Castillo on the LOOKING finale: 'I was proud of Richie'

Can I just say, when I watched the finale, I had an overwhelming urge to scream, “Richiiiiieee!”-- like in the last scene of “La Bamba.” It ruined me. What went through your mind when you read how things would be playing out?

Richie articulates his most vulnerable feelings in the season in that scene, I thought. And I just wanted to honor that, and what he was feeling. I just wanted to treat that moment with care. And I also was proud of Richie for facing the reality of the situation and, as much as it hurt, stepping away. I was excited, in a weird way, to hear him assert himself. And, you know, he has asserted himself throughout the season, but I think there was something really kind of incredibly human about the feelings that he articulates in that moment.

heartbreak1   heartbreak3

Heading into the finale, viewers were picking sides: Team Kevin or Team Richie. Have you heard some of the chatter about how people are reacting to these two characters?

Yeah, yeah. My girlfriend couldn’t understand why anyone would be Team Kevin. I told her that’s because she roots for the underdog. So do I, I gravitate to that. But that’s how it is. Some people are for the Yankees, and some people are for the Mets. I get so excited when I hear that the audience is polarized. I wouldn’t want it to be easy for Richie.

Lana Del Slay Announces 2014 US Tour Dates

Lana Del Rey just dropped a bombshell on Facebook. The gloomy diva is hitting the road next month, performing shows across North America. The tour doesn’t have a name yet, so it’s impossible to tell exactly what she will be performing, but it would seem to confirm the rumored May 1 release date of new LP Ultraviolence.

Given that releasing albums in the middle of the night with no warning is all the rage now (thank you, Beyonce), Lana’s opus could drop any minute now. The sooner, the better as far as I’m concerned. There’s only so many times you can alternate between Born To Die and her equally amazing Paradise EP! Tickets for the tour go on sale later this week. See all the dates after the jump.

Lorde x MAC Collection To Be Released This Summer

The Grammy-award winning songtress is making it easier for you to get her vampy lips this summer.

There's no denying that we're totally into Lorde's signature beauty look -- her vampy lips in dark shades of deep berry and purple. Now, fans (us, included!) can get in on the action as MAC Cosmetics has announced its collaboration with the "Royals" songstress for a limited-edition makeup collection available this summer.
While details on the line have yet to be released, it's likely to consist of moody colors inspired by the 17-year-old performer, according to The Cut.

"I have loved MAC Cosmetics since I was a little kid. I remember saving up to buy my very first MAC lipstick [Snob] at 14, and it was used by about 20 of my friends!" Lorde said in a statement. "MAC has a very clear aesthetic, that has always felt fashion forward to me. So I was really excited to work with them on these products, which I use pretty much every day and night. I hope you will too."

Lorde also works closely with Amber Dreadon, a MAC senior artist for Oceania who travels with the singer on tour.

(Three of) 5 Things We Learned From 'True Detective'

1. The McConnaissance has officially hit its peak. (Yassssssssssssssss)

It's now belaboring the obvious to state that Matthew McConaughey has morphed into one of the most interesting actors working today — an unpredictable phenomenon that we can carbon-date back to 2011 and his Rockford Files-esque turn in The Lincoln Lawyer. His career-resurgence modus operandi was simple: kiss off the typical leading-man roles that were slowly suffocating him and go moody (Mud), dowdy (Bernie), psycho-ugly (Killer Joe), or campy, where-are-my-bongos batshit-crazy (The Paperboy). Where once his two modes were open-shirted or altogether shirtless, McConaughey started to explore how far he could take things to the outer limits, performing jujitsu on his sex-symbol image with Magic Mike and scaling his beefcake physique down to scary, beef-jerky emaciation for Dallas Buyers Club. (As for his motormouthed cameo in The Wolf of Wall Street, the whole sequence now seems like a dry run for the glorious cosmic slop of his Oscar acceptance speech.)

But with True Detective, McConaughey has not only delivered what's arguably his best work; he's crafted a performance that's both drawn from and built on all of these previous McConnaissance highs. His Rustin Cohle circa '95 is a portrait of detachment and PTSD, and worlds away from his old party-boy persona without feeling like he's just playing a stock straight-and-narrow hero (see A Time to Kill). His "narco wild-ass" persona Crash feels like the entire chilling Killer Joe experience without the fried-chicken excess. Cohle '12 combines the thousand-yard-stare mysticism of Mike's alpha stripper with Club's single-minded fatalism. Even better, he makes the whole thing feel rock-solid and of a single piece. There's great acting all over this show, especially Woody Harrelson and Michelle Monaghan, who finally makes good on the promise she showed in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. But this is McConaughey's show. Oscar win or not, it really feels like the last three years of tightwire walks have all been adding up to this.

2. Cary Fukanaga is no longer a director to be taken for granted. (Yassssssss x10000)

Next to McConaughey, the one name most associated with True Detective is Nic Pizzolatto, a novelist and occasional TV writer (The Killing) who acts as the series showrunner. He's the true auteur of the show — but you can't discount the contributions of the man behind the camera for every one of the first season's episodes. Thanks to his Sundance-coronated 2009 feature debut Sin Nombre, filmmaker Cary Fukanaga demonstrated a knack for complementing immersive-journalistic storytelling with impressive chops. His sophomore film, an adaptation of Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre (2011), then proved he was no one-trick indie-cinema pony.

"The Bachelor": Finale: Who Will The Homophobe Choose?

Juan Pablo Galavis' journey to find love on reality television is almost over.

His tenure as "The Bachelor" comes to an end Monday with a two-hour finale episode, followed by a live "After the Final Rose" special.

The Venezuelan single dad and former pro soccer player, 32, started the show with 27 women to choose from, and week by week narrowed them down to the final two -- Nikki, a 26-year-old pediatric nurse, and Clare, a 32-year-old hairdresser.

His season got a lot of people talking -- and raised eyebrows on more than one occasion. There was his "swim in the ocean" in Vietnam with Clare and subsequent shaming of her about it, the voluntary departures of Sharleen and Andi and the latter's revelations about what kind of a guy Juan Pablo really is (according to her: self-absorbed, negative and prone to dismissing others' feelings with an "It's OK"). And there was also his off-screen apology for anti-gay comments he made during in an interview back in January.

There's been so much drama, in fact, that a source connected to the series told E! News, "Everyone on the show cannot wait for this season to be over." Another called Juan Pablo the "worst Bachelor ever."

But, the question remains -- who will Juan Pablo pick? Will there be a proposal at the end of Monday's episode? Will it be accepted? And, will Juan Pablo and the winning woman still be in love when they appear on "After the Final Rose"? We'll have to watch tonight, starting at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, to find out.

there is a 0% chance that he's still together with whoever he picked

MTV’s Charlamagne tha God Puts ‘Ratchet Ho’ Label on ‘iCarly’ Star Jennette McCurdy

*Looks like Jennette McCurdy is the latest celebrity to join the “ratchet ho” club. At least that’s what Charlamagne tha God says.

According to the Charlamagne, the “iCarly” star earned her new label by simply playing NBA star Andre Drummond like a fiddle to boost her celebrity status.

Charlamagne’s declaration comes amid McCurdy publicly engaging Drummond on Twitter after he named her his “Woman Crush Wednesday.”

Needless to say that just didn’t sit will with Charlamagne, who detailed exactly the type of people who are worthy of ratchet ho status.

“She’s clearly a ratchet ho … social sexual networking hookups are for regular people not celebrities,” the on “Guy Code” star explained to TMZ Sports while standing by Drummond’s claim of not leaking racy pictures of McCurdy online after she trashed and humiliated him on a podcast this weekend.

“I bet ten other guys have the same pics Andre has,” Charlamagne said, … “She’s an idiot.”

Miley has "wardrobe malfunction" in Milwaukee

Miley Cyrus performs in her underwear after missing costume change during Milwaukee show

Miley Cyrus' show must go on — even if she forgets her clothing!
The "We Can't Stop" singer admitted she missed a costume change during her concert in Milwaukee, and had to go out on stage wearing just her underwear.

"Not a new outfit for '23'," Cyrus, 21, tweeted. "I didn't make my quick change and I couldn't not come out for the song so I just had to run out in my undies :( "

"Never happened to me before," she added.
"But I love my fans as much as they love me! I couldn't miss '23'… show must go on."

The pop star took to Twitter after the show to come clean — but chances are her audience wouldn't have guessed it was a mistake.

AKA couldn't get her leather chaps on lol...I was there last night and didn't even know lol, it looked like any of her other costumes.

Jennifer Lawrence Is Happy She Lost, Doesn’t Want to Become Anne Hathaway

There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, and perhaps Anne Hathaway knows that first-hand. By the time she won her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2013, thanks to her major Oscar campaign, everyone but her closest family and friends was tired of her. Jennifer Lawrence wanted to make sure this didn’t happen to her as well.

Like Anne last year, Jennifer was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “American Hustle” at the 2014 edition of the gala. She lost to Lupita Nyong’o in “12 Years a Slave” and, insiders say for Radar Online, she was actually relieved this happened.

If you’ve been staying up to date with movie / Oscar news, you must know that Jennifer did very little campaigning for her category, even saying in several interviews that she wanted to take some time off and not do the media rounds for a while lest people grew sick and tired of her.

Considering she was coming off another solid Oscar run, having won in 2013 the Best Actress statuette, this was probably a very smart move on her part. So, when she heard Lupita’s name called out this Sunday at the 2014 edition of the Academy Awards, she actually breathed a huge sigh of relief.

The way figure skating's governing organization have acted in the wake of Adelina Sotnikova's contentious gold medal win has been a study how to act suspiciously guilty after a controversial result. Zelda and Pokemon Monopoly unveiled at Toy Fair, start family fights in 2014

Do not pass "Go," do not collect 200 rupees, go straight to Kakariko Village jail. Tough luck, draw a Chance card. Oops, you've picked up the Pokeball Maintenance card. Pay the bank a cool 500 Pokedollars, chump.

These and other friendship-ending, family-rending frustrations can all be yours when USAopoly drops The Legend of Zelda and Pokemon Monopoly boardgames on the general public in 2014. Announced at Toy Fair International 2014 in February, USAopoly will extend its vast empire of licensed Monopoly boardgames with two of Nintendo's most recognized franchises. Both boards will cost $45.

The Pokemon board is specific in its selections for Boardwalk and Park Place proxies, sticking to the Kanto region Pokemon Leaf Green and Pokemon Fire Red. On the other hand, The Legend of Zelda Monopoly is a blank slate, as USAopoly hasn't said whether or not it will be tied to a specific game in the series. While Nintendo's done more in recent years to draw continuity between Zelda games, they still vacillate in tone and aesthetic. Wind Waker Water Works next to the Twilight Princess Electric Company would look pretty freaky.

These will be the second and third Nintendo-based Monopoly sets out of USAopoly, following up from the more general Nintendo Collector's Edition board that came out way back in 2006. How dated is that board? It's got placeholder art of Slippy from Star Fox Assault on it. A 2014 update is probably smart.

Monopoly isn't the only Parker Brothers classic getting some Nintendo loving. There will also be a Connect 4 Super Mario Bros. set this year. How are people supposed to know they won if the pieces are all gold coins, though? And there are only seven red coins in every stage, so balance is impossible! Someone didn't think this through properly.

The two had been milking the venom from sea snakes and were looking for tiger sharks off the coast of Queensland, but had been shut down by weather on that Monday.

HIMYM Recap: Marshall Uncovers Lily's Secret

On Monday’s How I Met Your Mother, the Mosby Boys got to the bottom of where Lily disappeared to after her big fight with Marshall — and the big secret she’s been keeping.

When Marshall first finds out that Lily got into The Captain’s car, his mind immediately goes to the worst possible scenario: Something adulterous is going on between the two of them. But when Marshall, Ted, Barney & Co. arrive at The Captain’s home, they discover that he never actually saw Lily — and he’s now engaged to Robin’s former co-worker Becky (played by Laura Bell Bundy). (So now that’s two of The Captain’s girlfriends/wives that Ted has had sex with.) Lily simply used the car, made a stop at a store and then asked Becky if she could use the powder room.

Crack amateur detective Ted thinks he’s got the mystery all figured out. What does Lily do when Marshall’s been away for a while? She starts smoking again! She’s been antsy all weekend and she was chewing gum, he reasons. He gets the daisy plant from the bathroom and starts looking for the buried cigarette, but instead, he discovers a pregnancy test. And it’s positive! All this time, Linus has been bringing Lily non-alcoholic drinks.

“I told you guys I could keep a secret,” Lily declares through tears back at the hotel.

Marshall is so happy, he’s all for moving to Italy. “You’re going to get your dream because you’re giving me mine. Again,” he tells her.

So the “Daisy” in the episode’s title turns out not to be The Mother’s name, as some have speculated, but that of Marshall and Lily’s daughter.

Elsewhere, Robin freaks out because all her mother’s stories about her dad sound a lot like Barney. She’s worried that she’s marrying her father. Her mother tries to reassure her that when you have someone you can depend on, it’ll all be OK. So does Robin have that person? The bride-to-be hesitates a little  — uh oh— before answering, “I do.”

Jennifer Lawrence Fans Start Petition After Hunger Games Star's MTV Movie Awards Snub

Jennifer Lawrence fans are not happy!

Angry aficionados of the Hunger Games actress have started a petition after her character Katniss Everdeen was snubbed from the Best Hero category in the recent 2014 MTV Movie Awards nominations.

The Care2 online petition is demanding that J.Law's butt-kicking character be added to the category by Mar. 14. The petition already has almost 10,200 signatures!

"There is not a single woman in the Hero's [sic] category. Don't let a strong woman like Katniss be overlooked!" reads the petition.

"Young women already have too few female heroes represented in film and television," it goes on. "We're constantly shown by the entertainment industry that men are brave, powerful, or successful, while women are often given supporting roles and weak characters."

Among the stars that are nominated in the Best Hero category are Henry Cavill (Man of Steel), Channing Tatum (White House Down), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man 3), Chris Hemsworth (Thor: The Dark World) and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug).

While Lawrence isn't nominated (yet) for Best Hero, she is up for Best Female Performance for Catching Fire. She's also nominated in the Best Fight category for Catching Fire, as well as the Best Kiss category for American Hustle.

SOUTHERN CHARM POST: The Cast & How Charleston Views the Show

"It's a great day in South Carolina" was not likely whispered from Gov. Nikki Haley's lips after the first episode of Charleston's plunge into the media spotlight, Bravo's "Southern Charm."

We are supposed to swallow the cast as the "new" Southern elite in Charleston - "playground for men that never want to grow up." There's not enough bourbon in the state of Kentucky to numb the pain this causes the brain, and there's not enough white eyelet and lace to pretty up the stain of shame that may leak onto our seersucker suits.

Admittedly, I know next to nothing about South Carolina politics. So, it shouldn’t be shocking that Thomas Ravenel’s name didn’t ring a bell while I watched the Southern Charm premiere. But after hearing snippets about him during the ep, my mind raced with a pile of questions: Who IS this Thomas Ravenel guy? What’s his story? How could a polo field cost $1 million? Isn’t it just a big square of grass? What is polo? (I’m still working on those last three inquiries.)

Thomas Ravenel was the SC Treasurer, then went to jail for serious coke charges, and is now trying to get his foot back in the political door. BUT! He refuses to clean up his image/stop doing him. In the words of Polonius, “To thine own self be true” (ain’t that right, Thomas Ravenel?)

After the Southern Charm premiere, I went Googling. Fortunately, Thomas is a big effin’ deal in SC, so there’s a hefty amount of local and national news about him. Here are a few notes:

Emma Watson Is “Conflicted” About Beyoncé & Feminism

Naturally,  Editorial wunderkind Tavi Gevinson and Emma Watson are both obsessed with Beyoncé’s new album — but also conflicted! Watson said:

“As I was watching [the videos] I felt very conflicted, I felt her message felt very conflicted in the sense that on the one hand she is putting herself in a category of a feminist, but then the camera, it felt very male, such a male voyeuristic experience of her and I just wondered if you had thoughts about that or if you had any of your own thoughts about any of it really …”

Gevinson had a lot of her own thoughts about all of it. Here’s a sampling:

“Beyoncé is not perfect even though she is kind of a badass but I think it is very generous of her to work these things out publicly, to you know, have the songs that include the sample of like a Ted Talk about feminism. think it is very generous of her to let us see her relationship to feminism publicly and I think that if we are being really nit-picky there are definitely contradictions, but I’m mostly just so thankful that album exists and for me it felt like real progress ...

'Raising Hope' Cancelled

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Raising Hope is coming to an end.

Fox announced Monday that the fourth season of the comedy starring Lucas Nevv, Martha Plimpton and Garrett Dillahunt will be its last.

The comedy, which was moved to Fridays this season, will end its run with an hourlong farewell on Friday, April 4 at 9 p.m.

"On behalf of myself, Greg Garcia and Raising Hope’s amazing cast and crew, I would like to thank our audience for tuning in and supporting us over the last four seasons,” EP/showrunner Mike Mariano said in a statement. "We planned our season four finale with this possibility in mind, and hope our loyal fans enjoy the way we’ve chosen to say goodbye to the Chances and to Natesville. Thanks again, and we’ll see you in syndication."

The decision to cancel the series comes days after Fox renewed the bulk of its veteran fare, with comedies The Mindy Project, New Girl and rookie Brooklyn Nine-Nine already locked up for 2014-15, joining dramedy Glee, Sleepy Hollow and animated entry Bob's Burgers.

i mean they had a pretty good run for such shitty ratings. although i feel bad for not having caught up with this season yet now lol
