BREAKING: Katy Perry and John Mayer Call It Quits

Katy Perry and John Mayer have called it quits.

A source close to the pair exclusively tells E! News that Perry broke up with Mayer within the last few days.

No other details about what prompted the "Dark Horse" singer's decision were forthcoming, but Mayer was noticeably absent from Perry's side on her recent trip to London and Milan. She returned home to Los Angeles on Friday.

Despite some early ups and down, the musical pair fast became one of Hollywood's hottest couples, sweetly gushing about each other in interviews and collaborating on the song "Who You Love," off of Mayer's latest album, Paradise Valley.

The duo have been the center of engagement rumors for quite some time now, with the most recent round of are-they-or-aren't-they being sparked by the huge diamond ring Perry was wearing at the Elle Style Awards last week in London.

Perhaps the glittering accessory was just for style after all.

A source told E! News in November, however, that the next step seemed "inevitable," and that all of their nearest and dearest were really rooting for them to stay together. "They are so perfect together," the insider added.

The Prism artist once called Mayer a "genius" and told E! News, "I've been a fan of John's for years before I got to actually kiss him."

About their musical collaboration, she added, "I've been such a fan, I think he's so incredibly talented and gifted and a genius songwriter. So to be a part of anything he was doing was just natural."

The two first went public with their off-and-on romance in summer 2012. They split briefly, reconciled, called things off again last March, but then seemed to be going strong once again.

Her dark album is coming!!

Amanda Bynes -- Mortified At Drake 'Vagina' Comment

Amanda Bynes has turned it around in a big way ... and one of the markers is that she is now remorseful about things she did and said when she was at her worst -- particularly her comment about Drake, "I want Drake to murder my vagina."

Sources directly connected with Amanda tell TMZ ... she is in the territory of being her old self again. They say the fact that the Drake comment "horrifies her" shows she again has a sense of the difference between right and wrong.

But there's more. We're told Amanda has stopped smoking weed, she's in the process of removing a number of inappropriate tattoos, and she's kind to people with whom she interacts.

Most impressive ... Amanda is now at FIDM -- the Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising in Orange County -- and she's become so self-confident she makes presentations to her entire class and freely interacts with her classmates.

TMZ broke the story ... Amanda was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolarity. It's apparent the meds and the therapy are working.

Shia LaBeouf and girlfriend Mia Goth go grocery shopping

Shia LaBeouf and his girlfriend Mia Goth stock up on groceries at Gelson’s on Sunday (February 23) in Van Nuys, Calif.

The 27-year-old actor was just analyzed by James Franco in a piece he wrote for the New York Times.

“This behavior could be a sign of many things, from a nervous breakdown to mere youthful recklessness,” James wrote. “For Mr. LaBeouf’s sake I hope it is nothing serious. Indeed I hope — and, yes, I know that this idea has pretentious or just plain ridiculous overtones — that his actions are intended as a piece of performance art, one in which a young man in a very public profession tries to reclaim his public persona.”

FYI: Mia is wearing Levi’s jeans.

Lea Michele for V Magazine

The first thing I notice about Lea Michele is that she has perfect eyebrows. They are strong, angular, and likely shaped for the day, since we’re meeting on the set of her music video shoot for the first single “Cannonball,” off her debut album, Louder. The tea-cup petite singer is taking a lunch break, a delectable-looking mélange of cubed tofu and tangled kale with a smattering of quinoa set before her. Glee’s leading glamour gal tells me she’s a vegetarian most of the time (“I eat fish occasionally”). Her bright eyes and springy skin attest to it—or maybe she just has dynamite genes.

The 27-year-old was born in the Bronx to a Turkish father, who was famous for bringing heros from his deli to the Spring Awakening set for cast mates when she was on Broadway, and an Italian-American mother. Complementing her Mediterranean good looks today are blunt, shiny bangs, and she is wearing a short, white cotton slip with Uggs, uncomely yet comfortable footwear, perfect for someone in need of an on-set shoe. Lea is kicking them off beneath the coffee table with nonchalance. Not that the star hasn’t earned the right to put her pedicured feet up for a minute.

Michele has been going full throttle for the release of Louder, slated for March fourth (as in, “march forth,” she says). It’s an 11-song distillation of a woman who took the time to find her voice. “I started working with Anne Preven, Felicia Barton, and Bonnie McKee right out of the gate, and we came up with some great, awesome pop songs,” she says. “But closer to the beginning of this year—four or five months into making the album—the label was like, “This is great, but we need more of you in here. You sound like you’re singing awesome songs that are similar to Katy or Kelly. We need more Lea Michele.”

Pity Party Time! Paula Deen is Fighting To Get Her Name Back!

At her lowest point last summer, Paula Deen struggled to get out of bed.

"When I woke up each morning, it was like my world was crashing down again," the celebrity chef, 67, tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week's cover story.

Her multimillion-dollar food empire and personal reputation shattered by Deen's admission in a 2013 deposition that she had used the N-word a "very long time" ago, the onetime "Queen of Butter" lost her Food Network contract along with most of her endorsement deals.

Nearly nine months later, she is now hoping to reboot her business with a new company funded by a $75 million deal with private investment firm Najafi Companies.

"I'm fighting to get my name back," says Deen, who adds that weathering the scandal involved facing her "greatest fear."

"I used to have dreams that I lost everything," she says. "And when it finally happens, you think, 'I'm still alive.' "

God bless America fighting the good fight for pieces of shit like Paula all across the country.

Kaley Cuoco: Moving In With Ryan After The First Date Sounds Slutty But We Were In Love

Kaley Cuoco isn't crazy -- just crazy in love with Ryan Sweeting. The Big Bang Theory actress is well aware that her quickie marriage to the tennis pro seems a little hasty, but she insists she knew what she was doing when she said "I do" on Dec. 31 just six months after they met. Speaking about their whirlwind romance in an interview with David Letterman on Monday, Feb. 24, the 28-year-old star said she just immediately hit it off with her now-husband when they were introduced by a mutual friend last July.

"We actually met on a blind date. I had never met him, and he had really never met me. He still tells me he had never seen the show, he didn't know who I was," Cuoco told Letterman of Sweeting, 26, who was coming off a national tennis tour when they first went out.

"He came to L.A. for a blind date -- and he never left," she revealed. "We had been texting, we texted a little bit. Dinner was great, and then he moved in the next day. I know, it sounds so slutty, but it wasn't!"

"It all did move quite fast on paper," she admitted, "but we really did know...And I know you're all thinking, 'She's nuts!' I swear I'm not nuts. We just fell in love."

Suffering for their art: 10 actors with unflattering long hair

YA author Chandler Baker writing three book horror series, "High School Horror Story"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

DiGa is set to reimagine classic literary monsters in a high school setting.

But rather than begin with television, where co-founders Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley have made their careers, DiGa is starting with books. The New York-based production company has inked a three-book deal with Macmillan Children's Feiwel and Friends imprint for a High School Horror Story collection written by veteran YA author Chandler Baker. The first book, tentatively titled Teen Frankenstein, is expected to be published in the fall of 2015.

With the literary world driving more and more television ideas, we wanted to develop our own franchises that begin on pages of a novel before ever being imagined for television. It is taking what we did with Teen Wolf and backing up the truck, so to speak, allowing a book to be the point of inception rather than a screenplay,” said Gateley, whose other credits include Laguna Beach, The Hills and Teen Mom.

The High School Horror series will be set in Paris, Texas, with book No. 1 drawing inspiration from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, told through the lens of a teenage girl who falls in love with the popular classmate she both accidentally kills and then brings back to life. Future books in the series will follow interconnected characters in the same small town high school and will modernize such classics as Jekyll & Hyde and Phantom of the Opera.

Added Jean Feiwel, senior vp and director of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group: “I love a damaged, romantic hero and Teen Frankenstein definitely fits the bill.”

Lindsay Lohan Tops Nanny in Court

Lindsay Lohan just kicked a nanny's ass.

A nanny sued Lindsay -- claiming she was pushing a baby stroller in West Hollywood when LiLo recklessly drove her Maserati smack into her -- but she just folded like the cheap suit she takes to the dry cleaners.

TMZ broke the story ... Nubia Del Carmen Preza filed the lawsuit back in 2012 for personal injuries -- the baby was not hurt. But the case lingered and the nanny just threw in the towel ... that she uses to clean the kitchen.

The nanny has now dropped the lawsuit altogether ... and sources tell us the Nanny didn't get anything ... not even 99 cents that she could use at a discount store.

National Enquirer apologizes over Philip Seymour Hoffman 'gay lover' story

The media got it wrong when it came to reporting about actor Philip Seymour Hoffman's death, the late Oscar winner's friend said Wednesday in an exclusive broadcast interview on CNN's "New Day."

Not only did the reporting inaccurately depict Hoffman as a man in a death spiral, playwright David Bar Katz said the press also was lax when it came to a National Enquirer story claiming he and Hoffman were lovers. The report, since debunked, was cited in mainstream outlets.

"I don't know why they did it," he said of the Enquirer. "I know that it's lousy journalism."

Katz sued the Enquirer over the story, reaching a settlement in which the tabloid agreed to fund an award for unpublished playwrights in Hoffman's memory.

Hoffman died of apparent drug overdose February 2. Katz found his body.

On Wednesday, the National Enquirer took out a full-page ad in The New York Times saying it "made a good faith error by publishing an interview with a person who falsely and convincingly claimed to be Mr. Katz."

The real Katz told "New Day's" Chris Cuomo he believes the Enquirer was misled but he was still stunned the publication ran with the story without cross-checking it with other sources -- and that other media outlets picked it up.

True Detective Director Cary Fukunaga’s Journey from Pro Snowboarder to Hollywood’s Most Wanted

Cary Fukunaga is always directing. We’re seated at the True Detective helmer’s favorite neighborhood restaurant in the West Village, but something is amiss. Our table, it seems, is cramped into an odd corner of the cozy establishment by the stairs leading to the bathroom.

“This isn’t gonna work,” he tells me, before getting up and walking to the center of the restaurant. His head pans around 360 degrees, surveying each and every seating possibility. The maître d’ glides over to him and suggests a table by the bar. Fukunaga isn’t impressed. Finally, his eyes home in on a table in the front-left corner that’s just right.

He’s nonetheless a very down-to-earth guy—a far cry from some of those self-serious filmmakers in Tinseltown. Fukunaga, who is half-Swedish and half-Japanese, is sporting his long, dark hair in a man-bun, and is dressed casually in a red shirt and khakis. He’s got some serious stubble going, too, like he’s slaved away all night in an editing room. In his left hand he’s clenching a brown leather camera bag for his Leica.

Despite his normal-dude appearance, the 36-year-old filmmaker has fast become one of the hottest directors in Hollywood for his first two features, the immigration and Mexican gangland saga Sin Nombre and his über-gothic adaptation of Jane Eyre, as well as his riveting work on the hit HBO series True Detective, of which he directed all eight episodes. The latter mystery series, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as a pair of macho, hard-boiled cops struggling to unravel a case involving a series of ritualistic female murders. Nic Pizzolatto’s gritty, existential series, set over three time periods, has become a bona fide phenomenon.

Fukunaga orders the “Smoked Salmon” sandwich—a mélange of Russ & Daughters lox, lemon crème fraîche, caperberries, and dill on wholegrain toast, and I get the chicken baguette, topped with a small bed of baby spinach, roasted red peppers, white cheddar, and honey dijon aioli. He also orders the day’s special—a pair of fluffy, rich crab cakes—for the table. Over the next hour-and-a-half, we discuss his direction of True Detective, his rise through the filmmaking ranks, and his myriad upcoming projects.

How did True Detective come across your desk?

[Creator] Nic Pizzolatto and I are at the same management company, Anonymous Content, so my manager sent me the project and said it was timely, and me and Nic met and talked about the movies we liked and things we have in common. It happened very quickly. I had gotten it, and then Alejandro González Iñárritu was on it for a very short time, and then he slipped out and it came right back to me.

Carol Alt Doesn't Understand the 'Hullabaloo' Over Kate Upton

Carol Alt was not impressed by Kate Upton’s recent Sports Illustrated cover. The elder model told Huffington Post Live that she didn’t understand the hype surrounding the 21-year-old.

“What I don't understand with Kate [Upton] is what's all the hullaballoo," Alt, 53, said of the 21-year-old beauty. "There are many covers of Sports Illustrated — one girl was just wearing a bottom, no top. I don't get what all the hullabaloo is. I think what it is is that in this moment there's just so much social media, and that's why she's had more word of mouth than anybody."

Kate Upton graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue each of the last two years. She also appeared on the inside flap of the 2014 edition, as Nina Agdal, Lily Aldridge, and Chrissy Teigen shared the cover. But Carol Alt feels that Kate Upton’s photos should not receive all the attention.

"I like Kate, she's a pretty girl," Alt continued. "But all the girls are nice, and all the girls are pretty. Every cover, to me, deserves to be talked about."

This is not the first time Carol Alt has dissed Kate Upton. Alt, herself a former SI Swimsuit cover model, told Galore in December that Upton was a “large size model.”

“I think Kate [Upton] is a product of great media hype,” Carol Alt said. “Without Sports Illustrated, I’m not sure she would’ve made it in the industry as a high-fashion model. Because she is more of a large size model. And even if I’ve seen her in person, and I don’t think she’s in any way fat or overweight or anything; she’s just more large-sized than fashion models are. .... Once she got the cover, she was already in a position to move forward. Of course, the cover was just a fluke because nobody knows who gets the cover. But she looks at herself as a business, and I admire that.”

Pippa Middleton: my bridesmaid dress fitted a little too well

Pippa Middleton has revealed how the figure-hugging bridesmaid dress which she wore at the wedding of her sister, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke of Cambridge, changed her life forever.

Miss Middleton, who gained instant fame when she appeared in a fitted Alexander McQueen dress for the wedding, confessed she didn’t sleep for two nights because she was so nervous about the royal occasion.

She said that while the recognition she received since the Royal Wedding in April 2011 had given her opportunities, this too has had its pitfalls.
Miss Middleton said accusations that she had been cashing in on her connections to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had been hurtful and she admitted the negative response to her book, Celebrate, had been “difficult.” The book sold around 18,000 copies.

Speaking at the Women in Advertising and Communications Dinner, Miss Middleton also revealed the pitfalls of the bridesmaid dress that earned her overnight fame. The simple cowl-neck dress, designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, immediately thrust Miss Middleton into the limelight and made her a fashion icon.

She said: “As I have found out, recognition has its upside, its downside and – you may say – its backside.” She confessed that while she was just pleased at the time that the dress fitted, “in retrospect maybe it fitted a little too well,” the Daily Mirror reported.

Around 400 guests attended the £132 event, and Miss Middleton received positive responses to her first after-dinner speech, at the Savoy Hotel in London.

'Fifty Shades of Grey' Sales Hit 100 Million

The erotic series joins inspiration "Twilight," "Harry Potter" and a few others on the elite list of the bestselling series of all time.

Fifty Shades of Grey, the hit erotica series that essentially gave birth to the "mommy porn" genre, crossed an important milestone recently when it recorded its 100 millionth sale this week.
Publisher Vintage Books, a division of Random House, made the announcement.

The 100 million mark puts EL James' trilogy about the torrid--and kinky--affair between a billionaire and a college student--in elite company. Other series that have hit that milestone include Twilight, Harry Potter, Sweet Valley HIgh and James Bond.

The first book, Fifty Shades of Grey, was released in March 2012 (based on a self-published piece of Twilight fanfiction). Sales hit 10 million about six weeks later. By the end of 2012, sales had reached about 65-70 million copies.

The three books have sold 45 million copies in the U.S. and an additional 27 million copies in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth countries. Sales have topped one million in France, Germany, Spain, Brazil and the Netherlands.

The series has been translated into 51 different languages (Hebrew! Thai!, Icelandic! Mongolian!).
The movie version starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan is scheudled for release on Valentine's Day weekend 2015. Vancouver-based filming for the movie just wrapped last week, according to tweets from James and other associated with the project.

“The Fifty Shades trilogy struck a chord around the world that continues to resonate,” said Anne Messitte, publisher of Vintage/Anchor Books in the U.S., in a statement. “We see new readers coming to the books every day, and the sales, two years after our initial publication, remain strong and steady.”

Princess Madeleine of Sweden and husband Chris O'Neill name their baby daughter

Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her husband Chris O'Neill have named their daughter Leonore Lilian Maria.

Leonore, who was born on 20 February and is fifth-in-line to the throne, will have the title of Duchess of Gotland.

The name Lilian is a likely nod to the late Princess Lilian of Sweden who passed away aged 97 in March last year, while Maria may be in honour of Chris' mum Eva Maria. Leonore is also reminiscent of Spain's future queen, eight-year-old Infanta Leonor.

"It's definitely something new," royal expert Roger Lundgren told the Aftonbladet newspaper immediately after the announcement. "There aren't many Swedish girls called Leonore." The moniker is in fact only held by 128 women in Sweden, according to national statistics.

Taraji P. Henson Joins Fox's Hip-Hop Empire, from Lee Daniels and Danny Strong

Fox’s Empire pilot has cast a person of considerable interest as its female lead: Onetime Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson.

From Lee Daniels’ The Butler scribe Danny Strong and director Lee Daniels, the prospective series is a unique family drama set in the world of a hip-hop and centering on music mogul Lucious Lyon.

TVLine has learned that Henson will play Cookie Lyon, Lucious’ ex-wife and former business partner. She is described as a “sexy, outrageous, over-the-top force” who has spent 17 years of hard time in prison for dealing drugs, funneling the ill-gotten gains into Lucious’s then-fledging music empire. Now that she’s been released early for good behavior, she wants what’s hers.

Also joining the Empire family is Season 1 Mindy Project guest star Jussie (brother of Jurnee) Smollett, playing Jamal Lyon, a musical prodigy who, being a gay man, has been rejected and judged by his father Lucious since childhood.

At the time of her abrupt POI exit this past fall, Henson told TVLine, “I’m the type of actress who loves to leave people wanting more. That’s just me. I don’t think I’m there in my career yet, where I ride out a show until the wheels fall off.”

Sandra Bullock to Make $70 Million (At Least) for 'Gravity'

Space travel has been very good for Sandra Bullock. The 49-year-old actress looks set to earn her biggest paycheck to date for Gravity, with studio sources saying she will make at least $70 million when all revenue streams are factored in.

According to multiple sources, Bullock's deal with Warner Bros. for the Alfonso Cuaron-directed space epic calls for her to earn $20 million upfront against 15 percent of first-dollar gross. That means once her advance is covered, she will collect 15 percent of the studio's slice of the box-office pie, known as "film rentals."

Each studio negotiates individual deals with theater owners to determine what those rentals are, but a rule of thumb is that the studio will collect roughly 40 to 50 percent of the box office (it gets somewhat less in foreign markets than domestically).

Gravity has earned more than $700 million at the worldwide box office and is expected to cross the $750 million mark. Assuming Warners gets 45 percent of that, Bullock's take would be more than $50 million, including her upfront payment. But theatrical revenue is just one part of what she'll make, as she also gets a percentage from home video, TV and ancillary revenue.

Taylor Panter, who hails from ATL, told CB! her mom took her 10 and 11-year-old siblings to Zoo Atlanta on Monday when animal-loving patrons noticed the pop star and his entourage of 10 sneak in to the exhibit to see the cuddly creatures.
“He came into the panda exhibit a little before closing and was acting very strangely my mom said,” Panter said. “He walked in and was talking to the panda like the panda was going to respond to him. He said stuff like, ‘I know you've listened to my music’ and ‘Wake up, panda I know you wanna take a picture with me.’ And continually having odd conversations with the panda."

Kacey Musgraves: "Country Music Needs More Diversity" + Announces 4th Single

Kacey Musgraves‘ debut album, ‘Same Trailer Different Park,’ is less than a year old, but she is already making huge waves with her music.

The singer, who won two Grammys last month, including one for Best Country Album, is also nominated for five ACM Awards, including for Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. But while she’s received plenty of positive support, she’s also faced a lot of backlash, especially with her controversial single, ‘Follow Your Arrow.’ But she isn’t about to let the negativity distract her from making the music she loves.

“I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, and I don’t really want to be,” she tells the Wall Street Journal. “I think if you’re everyone’s cup of tea, that probably means you’re a little bit boring, or you’re not pushing yourself. Creativity happens where it’s dangerous and scary, where you’re not comfortable. And that’s how it should be. That’s real. Music isn’t supposed to be vanilla. It’s not supposed to be something absolutely everyone enjoys. Frankly I’d love to see even more diversity in country music. Art is not supposed to be McDonald’s.”

Jack Thorne Set to Pen Screenplay for Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Adaptation of SANDMAN

A few months ago, Joseph Gordon-Levitt signed on to produce an adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s Sandman alongside Warner Bros.’ go-to comic-book-guy, David Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel).

For those unfamiliar with Gaiman’s comic, it centers on Morpheus (a.k.a. Dream), the Lord of Dreams but also expands to follow his six siblings Death, Desire, Destruction, Delirium (formerly Delight), Despair, and Destiny. It’s a wonderful comic book, and it’s not easy to translate beyond its tame first arc (“Preludes and Nocturnes”), which has Dream escaping from a prison and trying to reclaim his objects of power.

This story will probably be the basis for the film, and Deadline reports that Jack Thorne will write the screenplay based on a pitch from Goyer. Thorne wrote the script for How I Live Now (a film I didn’t particularly care for) and the adaptation of Nick Hornby‘s novel A Long Way Down. Personally, I don’t think Sandman needs to go into another medium, but hopefully Thorne, Goyer, and Gordon-Levitt (who the studio hopes will also direct and star in the picture) have found an interesting way to translate it to the big screen.

Natalie Portman talks Tom Hiddleston

When ELLE cover star Tom Hiddleston interviewed ELLE cover star Natalie Portman, she told him how much she enjoyed hitting him in the face while filming Thor: The Dark World ("Oh my god, it was so good"). He enjoyed it too, btw. "It was really fun" he told us. Who knew their tastes ran in that direction?

Now Natalie has expanded on her feelings for Tom, who was named Man of The Year at the ELLE Style Awards. Surprise surprise, they're pretty much in line with every right-thinking straight woman in the known universe (and the Asgardian one for that matter).

"Tom is wonderful," she says. "He plays Loki [the god of Mischief] and he’s just an incredible actor who finds so much humor in his evil. He’s also fun to be around, and he and Chris [Hemsworth] have a great rapport with each other. They’ve got sort of a brotherly thing. They really enjoy each other and annoy each other in a loving, joking way. It’s fun to be around.”

Portman has equally kind words to say about Chris, who plays epoymous hero Thor: "He’s really got the best energy. He is so enthusiastic about the work and so sweet to work with and so good."

Franky, that's one family we would sell our real one to be part of.

Travis Fimmel for Flaunt Magazine

Written by E. Ryan Ellis
Photographed by Tony Duran

“It’s bloody cold,” he says in a relaxed Australian drawl. Of course it is. Fimmel grew up helping out on the family farm in a small town on the fork of two rivers in the middle of the sunburnt Australia.

He’s currently in the benumbed west Canadian port city filming Duncan Jones’ Warcraft: a film of epic proportion and expectation. But despite the video game-based film, one gets the feeling Fimmel is the kind of lad that would much rather be chopping wood than mashing plastic buttons on a gaming controller. “I’d never heard of it,” he freely admits.

On Wednesday (Feb. 26) night's episode of "The Real World: Ex-Plosion," Arielle discovered articles online speculating that she is a "trans" member of the cast. Movie stars who did it for the money

What’s the biggest draw to being a movie star? A love of acting? The fame and adoration? If we’re being honest, it’s the money, right? Actual Hollywood types are rarely so open about the financial perks of the job, never breaking from coy character to admit they did it for the dollar, out of fear of being dubbed a real Scrooge McDuck. That’s why it’s still SO surprising when big names reveal their bigger cash incentives. Scroll through our greedy gallery below to see the movie stars that just did it for the money…

Gary Oldman in ‘Robocop’ (2014)
“Money!” the 55-year-old acting ledge quipped when asked why he took the part. “I'm at the mercy of what the industry is making and what comes through my door,” he added. “But I thought this was an intelligent script and I love Jose [Padilha, the director]’s point of view."
