Jai Courtney or Boyd Holbrook Will Be Kyle Reese in New 'Terminator'

Despite the fact that Megan Ellison and her Annapurna Pictures backed out of financing Terminator: Genesis for Paramount Pictures, the film is having no problem moving forward with Skydance Productions still in place to get the film off the ground. Emilia Clarke ("Game of Thrones") and Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) are already on board as Sarah Connor and John Connor respectively, but we've been waiting to hear who will play Kyle Reese, the character who saved the mother of the leader of a future revolution against Skynet and the machines. Deadline says it's between Jai Courtney and Boyd Holbrook for the big role.

The role is important because it will span at least two movies telling the story of Skynet's battle with the human resistance. Courtney has already had decent blockbuster exposure with Jack Reacher and A Good Day to Die Hard in his past, but neither performance makes him desirable for this role. He's bland and boring. Boyd Holbrook on the other hand still has something to prove. Soon he'll be seen in Gone Girl and Jane Got a Gun, and has appeared in small roles in The Skeleton Twins (read my review from Sundance) and Out of the Furnace. Our vote goes to Holbrook, but we'll find out who gets the part soon. Stay tuned.

Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry hits back at criticism of 'classless' breastfeeding photos

Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry has hit back at critics who called the photos she shared of herself breastfeeding her son 'classless'.

The 21-year-old, who gave birth to son Lincoln Marshall Marroquin in November, uploaded two images to her Instagram account, which boasts more than 840,000 followers, yesterday.

She was stunned when negative feedback began rolling in, with one follower commenting on the intimate snaps: 'What's with all the boob pics?! We get it, you breastfeed! Geesh! Have some class woman.'

Another said sarcastically: 'You can't possibly feed a baby without snapping pics and posting on twitter . . . posting pics of breast feeding is classless.'

Kailyn was quick to respond to critics, writing on one of the pictures: 'Oh, but then do you cover YOUR face while you're eating though.'

Oscar Nominees Defend Their Movies, Joke About Acceptance Speeches

Leonardo DiCaprio says "The Wolf of Wall Street" is "a cautionary tale," while "12 Years a Slave's" Steve McQueen says audiences were looking "for a challenging film." Jonah Hill, meanwhile, wrote a speech not because he thinks he's going to win but so he "wouldn't sound stupid."

Jonah Hill has already written an acceptance speech -- just in case. Matthew McConaughey was disappointed that Tom Hanks wasn't nominated because he wanted to hang out with him. And Lupito Nyong'o doesn't yet know what her Oscar nomination means for her young career.

Those were a few of the admissions that Oscar nominees, attending the Academy's annual luncheon Monday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, made as they appeared briefly in front of the press before heading into the hotel's ballroom.

Channing Tatum is Writing ‘Magic Mike 2′

After the surprise success ($113.7 million domestic take on a $7 million budget!) of 2012′s Magic Mike, it’s no wonder Warner Bros wants a sequel, and now it looks like Mike himself will be writing it.

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Channing Tatum is hard at work on the script for Magic Mike 2. This makes perfect sense since the original is loosely based on his early career as a male exotic dancer.

There’s no word if any of the original cast are returning.

The first film was directed by Steven Soderbergh, but since he’s retired from feature films (he hasn’t changed his mind yet, has he?) don’t expect him to direct, though he may produce.

Last I heard Tatum was going to direct.

ONTD, who would be in your dream cast for the sequel?

Norman Reedus On Bad Guy Roles And Duck Dynasty

Norman Reedus hits up the Nylon Guys February/March issue party held at Manon on Monday (February 10) in New York City.

The 45-year-old Walking Dead star is on the cover of the mag – here’s what he had to share in his cover story:

On having killed someone in 39 of his 42 film/television appearances: “I was born to play the bad guy, I guess. I have a suspicious look to me.”

On being invited to the Duck Dynasty Thanksgiving dinner: “I was surprised to get the invite…But they like our show, and I guess we’re both on popular shows, so it makes sense. Those guys are fun to sit down and eat a meal with. A bunch of weird dudes. Come to think of it, they seemed pretty sophisticated to me.”

On his career in junior tennis: “I studied with a coach who approached me and offered to train me because he thought i had potential…I played the junior circuit, against guys who had all the fancy equipment and shoes and everything. I was in, like, basketball shoes and had a toy racket. I was surprised I made it as far as I did.”

On his art gallery in NY with Erik Foss, Paul Sevigny, Tate Steinsiek and Ronnie Cutrone:
“It was called Collective Hardware. It was one of the coolest things I have ever done. We had local artists, but the quality was there, you know?”

Why do the people I love always do such stupid things?

Bob Costas and his (nasty) Red Eyes are Getting Replaced by Matt Lauer

An injury is forcing one of the biggest stars of the Olympics to the sidelines, at least temporarily.

Bob Costas announced Tuesday morning on Today that his eye infection, which has since spread to both eyes, will force him to miss Tuesday night’s primetime performance. (The vodka shot with Mary Carillo apparently didn’t help.) Today host Matt Lauer will replace him.

It will be the first time since 1988 that someone other than Costas will host a primetime Olympic telecast on NBC. Jim Nantz was the last person besides Costas to host an Olympic primetime telecast on any network. He led coverage of the 1998 Nagano Olympics for CBS.

Costas called into Today and spoke on the phone with Matt Lauer, who asked how Costas was doing.

Costas: “Well, even worse than when you saw me this morning, Sochi time. So, reluctantly, I was trying to throw a complete game here, but I think we’re going to have to go to the bullpen. I don’t know if you’re aware of this or not, but you’re Mariano Rivera, at least tonight.”

Lauer: “So, I’m going to step in for you tonight, the master of Olympic primetime?”

Costas: “I believe that’s it. Let’s hope it’s only tonight because right now I’m walking around and might as well be playing Marco Polo. I have no idea where I am.”

When asked if he had any tips for Lauer, Costas gave him one.

“Just remember, Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov,” Costas said, sounding out the names slowly. “There’s your Russian dancing pair.”

Lauer thanked him, then shared how he’ll be prepping to fill in for NBC’s Olympic ringleader.

“I will be doing the shots of vodka, starting in 15 minutes.”

Canadian gay rights luge video annoys Americans

KRASNAYA POLYANA, RUSSIA — There was a ripple of discontent over a gay rights issue at the Sochi Games on Tuesday, but it had nothing to do with Russia.

Several U.S. doubles lugers said they were irritated by a popular Canadian video celebrating diversity that they say pokes fun at their sport.

The Canadian Institute of Diversity and Inclusion recently released a promotional video that shows doubles luge—a sport in which one rider lies on top of the other as they sled down the track. At the end of the video is the tagline: “The games have always been a little gay. Let’s fight to keep it that way.”

“They’re making fun of our sport for their cause, and it doesn’t really make a lot of sense to me,” Christian Niccum, a U.S. Olympian, said after completing two training runs at the Sanki Sliding Center.

Netflix invents "House of Cards Against Humanity" game

At the intersection of cutthroat politics and party games for the twisted sits House of Cards Against Humanity.

Yes, you read that correctly. Netflix is joining forces with Cards Against Humanity to create a special 25-pack deck inspired by its original series House of Cards. Cards Against Humanity offered a printed version of the deck for free, but has run out at time of publishing. Disappointed fans can still download both plain-text and print-and-play versions.

Cards in the new deck include "carbon monoxide poisoning," "discharging a firearm in a residential area" and "strangling a dog to make a point to the audience," along with — fair warning — other spoilers.

Cards Against Humanity launched in 2011 after a Kickstarter campaign funded the first round of publishing. The game has gained notoriety for its crass content and clever marketing stunts.

Lena Dunham reveals upcoming book cover and its release date via Instagram

Hannah Horvath would be so proud.

The Brooklynite’s real-life alter-ego, Lena Dunham, will become a published author before the end of the year. And the “hardest-working millennial” chose a medium befitting of her generation to reveal the cover and release date of the tome – by posting a picture on Instagram.

The outspoken writer, producer and actor of the hit HBO series “Girls” posted a split-frame image of the book cover of “Not That Kind of Girl,” and another of her holding her first book.

The 27-year-old Dunham, who reportedly got a tony $3.5 million for the book deal by Random House, wrote on Twitter: “It’s official. Coming 10/7/14.” She links to the photo on her Instagram account.

As Entertainment Weekly notes, the cover mock-up isn’t dissimilar to that of the pulpy 1960s cover of “Valley of the Dolls.”

The publishers are touting the tome as a great read for those who love David Sedaris, Tina Fey, and Nora Ephron.

“No, I am not a sexpert, a psychologist, or a registered dietician,” Dunham herself said about the book.

"But I am a girl with a keen interest in self-actualization, sending hopeful dispatches from the front lines of the struggle.”

Dystopian drama "The Lottery" ordered to series at Lifetime

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Lifetime is getting into the thriller genre, picking up 10 episodes of conspiracy drama The Lottery.

Written by Children of Men author Timothy J. Sexton, The Lottery is set in a dystopian future when women have stopped having children and the human race is on the verge of extinction. But when a fertility specialist (Marley Shelton) successfully fertilizes 100 embryos, the government sponsors a lottery to find suitable surrogates.

“The Lottery is one of the most provocative and original concepts we’ve ever seen,” the network’s executive vice president Rob Sharenow said. “Tim Sexton’s unique dystopian thriller represents an exciting new direction for Lifetime and continues cable’s position on the leading edge of bold, high-quality scripted drama.”

The series also stars Michael Graziadei (American Horror Story), David Alpay (The Vampire Diaries), and Martin Donovan (Homeland). Sexton is set to executive produce along with former Prison Break EP Dawn Olmstead.

Miley Cyrus is Considering Moving to Downtown L.A. Condo Over Security Concerns

Miley Cyrus 1

Is Miley Cyrus about to get even more edgy?

The controversial pop star may soon change her lifestyle, as she’s considering trading her hillside home for a downtown Los Angeles high-rise condo over security concerns, RadarOnline.com has learned.

“Miley’s security situation has been a massive issue for the last year — she would like to come and go as she pleases and feel safe alone in her home and that just isn’t happening with her current house,” the source said.

“She’s thinking of buying a condo in a downtown L.A. high rise instead of continue to deal with stalkers and lunatics trying to break into her hillside home at all hours of the day.”

Cyrus would follow in the footsteps of Johnny Depp, Nicolas Cage and Vincent Gallo, who have all bought or rented in downtown Los Angeles in recent years as the area has gentrified.

According to the source, Cyrus “has talked to a bunch of other stars — including her on-off pal Lindsay Lohan — who have had the same issues, and the fix is getting an apartment in a high-end, controlled entry apartment instead of living in a big house that is only really secure against intruders who don’t know how to use a ladder,” the source explained.

Also, the twerk queen, 21, might enjoy the vibe of living in downtown L.A.!

“There are a lot of young professionals moving in and tons of hip new clubs and restaurants,” the source noted.

Gaga Films Music Video With Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Claws up, Housewives! Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga, recently tapped the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast to star in her super-secret new music video, sources reveal exclusively to Us Weekly.

The video was built around the cast of Bravo's hit series, which currently features Lisa Vanderpump, Kyle Richards, Kim Richards, Brandi Glanville, Yolanda Foster, Joyce Giraud de Ohoven, and Carlton Gebbia. It was taped shortly after the dramatic RHOBH reunion special, and also features a cameo by Andy Cohen.

Gaga, 27, is a known fan of the Housewives franchise. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in September 2013, she told host Andy Cohen she likes "all the cities." (Bravo has had Housewives installments in Orange County, New York City, Atlanta, New Jersey, Beverly Hills, Washington, D.C., and Miami.)

I really like Karent [Sierra, formerly of RHOM], because everybody hates her because she's gorgeous," the "Applause" singer said. "And then I also love Nene [Leakes], 'cause she's just really real. And Kandi [Burruss] 'cause the girl's written a lot of great hit songs." (Atlanta Housewife Burruss is behind No. 1 tunes like TLC's "No Scrubs" and Destiny's Child's "Bills, Bills, Bills.")

"[I also like] Lisa Vanderpump," the Artpop star told Cohen of the glamorous Brit. "Mostly because she doesn't give any f--ks."

Asked whether she'd thought of what her Real Housewives tagline would be if she were on the show, Gaga stood up to demonstrate for the camera. "They may say I'm a woman," she purred, swiveling her hips. "But underneath, I'm all man."

Doritos Stealth-Testing ‘Loaded’ Nacho Hybrid

Most fast-food roll-outs are shrouded in secrecy, limited to test-marketing sites in far flung cities like Dubuque and Radium Town, Oklahoma. But Frito-Lay chose a handful of Beltway-area 7-Eleven shops, apparently, to test its new and possibly transgressive "Doritos Loaded" option. From the look of it, the next frontier in the United States of Doritofication seems to be equal parts tortilla-chip and proprietary spice dust, a rougish dash of taquito DNA, and three parts neon mozzarella.

The Doritos Loaded things are the same size and shape as paper footballs, but apparently more edible. Intrepid taste-taster Kevin Cobb, who happens to be a committed consumer of Doritos, tells Yahoo Food that he would order the cheese-stuffed chips again, adding that he'd hoped they be crispier. The puck-like snacks taste "like nacho cheese Doritos dipped in queso," he says.

Kanye West's $245 Nike Sneakers Sell Out, Reach More Than $16 Million on eBay

Some people really want to walk in Kanye West’s shoes. The rapper’s new collaboration with Nike — his Air 2 Red October sneakers — sold out in hours Sunday (no surprise), and they’ve already hit eBay (also, not surprising). But the current bidding price for Yeezy’s kicks did manage to surprise us (as in, jaws on the floor): £10,000,000 or roughly $16.4 million.

Nike announced on Twitter Sunday that that shoes were on sale, retailing for $245. And they sold out so quickly that the eBay sales started almost immediately. The sneakers are all red and feature gold embellishments on the laces (not real gold, although for the price people are willing to pay, you’d think it was.)

The most ridiculous listing on eBay shows the top bid at more than 16 million bucks, but more sales have been popping up with “Buy It Now” prices as low as about £3,500.00 (about $5,748), which seems like a total steal by comparison!

How much are you guys willing to pay on shoes??

Justin Bieber's Wax Figure Has Been Ruined Because Fans Wouldn't Stop Groping It

This is why Justin Bieber fans can't have nice things.

The wax figure of the 19-year-old pop star and (alleged) egg-thrower has been removed from Madame Tussaud's New York location. Is it because the company doesn't approve of all his antics over the past few weeks few months? Is it because they need to make a new one because no one knows what he looks like with a shirt on anymore? No, it's because his fans would not stop groping and man-handling Justin's statue.

The New York Post is reporting that because Justin's wax likeness has no barriers or ropes around it, it's been a fan free for all. This is their one chance to rub up on their idol, and the hordes of girls have been taking that opportunity and going to freakin' town. And that town is called Fondle-ville. And they are the mayors. See the pic above for an example.

All that hand-play and constant humping has led Justin's figure to be damaged and warped, and it "no longer does justice either to the star or to the attraction," according to Madame Tussauds.

General manager Bret Pidgeon told the NY Post that the damage from the fans and their frantic groping is "disappointing" but they will hopefully "welcome a new 'grown-up' Justin back to the attraction in the near future."

Well, they have to wait for Justin to actually grow up first. So let him cross that bridge before making anything new. And if they do make a new statue, they should probably put out a "No Humping" sign for the fans so this doesn't happen in the future. Yes, that rule should go without saying, but we now live in a world where it has to be said.

Do you want to see a picture of the horribly damaged Justin Bieber wax figure? Check it out below:

Tom Brokaw reveals cancer diagnosis

brokaw, tom 2002 300dpi
Former NBC news anchor Tom Brokaw is being treated for cancer, but doctors are very encouraged with the progress he is making, NBC said Tuesday.

Brokaw, 74, was "diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer affecting blood cells in the bone marrow, in August at the Mayo Clinic," the network said.

"His doctors are optimistic about the outcome of the treatment he is receiving, and Brokaw said he remains 'the luckiest guy I know,'" it said.

Brokaw sat in the anchor chair of the "NBC Nightly News" from 1982 until he stepped aside in 2004 to serve as a special correspondent for the network. He joined NBC as a reporter in 1966.

"Throughout the treatment, Brokaw has continued to work on NBC News projects, including a two-hour documentary on the assassination of JFK, appearances on 'TODAY,' 'Nightly News with Brian Williams,' 'Meet the Press' and MSNBC," the announcement said. "He is also contributing to NBC Sports coverage of the Winter Olympics in Sochi."

Grace Coddington does NOT deny a Kim K. Vogue Kover

Grace Coddington's got a few trendy tricks up her Celine sleeve. And before taking a seat next to legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh at Wednesday's amfAR gala at New York City's Cipriani Wall Street, she told Pret-a-Reporter her piece of advice for New York Fashion Week newbie designers who are showing for the first time.

"Edit your collection carefully and precisely -- you can do it up until the last moment," said theVogue creative director, who noted she was most looking forward to Marc Jacobs' and Proenza Schouler's shows. As for how to stay afloat amid a slushy NYFW, she said, "Pace yourself. I don't go to all of them."

When asked what she thinks about so many designers dragging editors, bloggers and boldfaces well away from Lincoln Center for their fashion shows -- Alexander Wang made his attendees trek out to Brooklyn's Navy Yard, Diane Von Furstenberg ventured far south to SoHo's Spring Studios --  she told reporters, "I think it's great. I don't like the Lincoln Center. I think it's kind of ugly when you get inside -- not the Lincoln Center, that's great, but inside, that's kind of ugly. I don't like this mass market stuff. I like it when they go downtown to where all the galleries are and things."

She humorously added, "I mean, I wish they'd all show on 22nd Street, which is where I live!"

And when a reporter surprised her with the question about whether Kim Kardashian was just shot for an upcoming issue of Vogue, Coddington -- who also noted that she stays warm during NYFW with "Celine coats of various warmths" and Ugg boots -- widened her eyes and searched for how to respond to the widely-circulated rumor.

"Gosh, I don't know. What can I say?" she said, smiling. "I don't do covers anyway, so I wouldn't know what they have picked out."

Louis Tomlinson's mum Johannah gives birth to twins!

Two Direction - Mum of 1D Louis has twins… Ernest & Doris. ONE Direction heart-throb Louis Tomlinson is celebrating after his mum gave birth to twins she has named Ernest and Doris. The singer, 22, dashed to be with his mother Johanna Poulston, 40, after the pair arrived on Monday.

He already has four younger sisters — Lottie and Felicite and another set of twins, named Phoebe and Daisy. A source said: “Louis is over the moon. He met Ernest and Doris and fell in love with them. “Family is massively important to him so he was made up that he was not abroad and was able to meet them so soon after they were born. His sisters mean the world to him so he’s delighted to have two more siblings to spoil.”

Ernest and Doris were born prematurely at Barnsley Hospital, South Yorks, near Louis’ home town of Doncaster, but the babies and their mum are doing fine. Johanna has been with the twins’ father, Daniel Deakin, 30, for two years. She split from her ex, Mark Tomlinson, as Louis auditioned for X Factor in 2010.

A spokesman for Louis said: “Daniel and Johanna are pleased to welcome twins — a boy Ernest Rupert Atholl Deakin, 5 lbs 12oz, and a girl Doris Poppet Deakin, 4lbs 11oz.

“Daniel and Johanna would like to thank Barnsley hospital, their special care unit, the Embrace team and Jessops special care unit. “All the family are delighted.”

The timing of the birth was perfect for Louis as One Direction are on a three-month break after months of touring and shows. Louis, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles have pencilled in just one public appearance — at the Brits next week.

OF COURSE HE IS OVER THE MOON, I am so thrilled about this and now he has a little baby brother too :')

Akira, the Hollywood Adaptation that just won't die + Concept Art

At the press junket for his latest Liam Neeson action vehicle Non-Stop--the second after Unknown and before next year's Run All Night--director Jaume Collet-Serra gave us the skinny on his much-buzzed-about remake of Akira for Warner Bros. In 2011 he was all set to helm the live-action adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's beloved manga and cult 1988 anime, with Garrett Hedlund in the frame as biker gang leader Kaneda, before the studio decided $90 million was too big a gamble for an admittedly oddball project with subversive political undertones and heady sci-fi concepts galore.

True Detective: The Best Show on TV

Could HBO's latest hit be helping pave the way for a new form of storytelling?

What must David Fincher think when he watches this show?

It’s a thought that first occurred to me in the opening minutes of the series premiere of HBO’s True Detective a month ago, and it has recurred more or less continuously throughout each subsequent episode. The eight-part series, which has just crossed its season midpoint, is Fincherian in the best sense: Zodiac good, Kevin-Spacey-in-the-police-cruiser-in-Se7en good. The resemblance is due in part to the show’s subject matter (the hunt for a serial killer); in part, to its look (crisply cinematic); and, most of all, to its mood: vivid, unsettling, with evil lurking palpably just outside the frame.

So while I have no real idea what David Fincher thinks when he watches True Detective—or whether he’s even watched it at all—I can’t help but imagine he must think something along the lines of: How can it be that I have nothing to do with this show?

Which is a long way of saying that True Detective is the most compelling series currently on television, one that boasts an almost embarrassing array of riches: a mesmerizing performance by current Hollywood It Man Matthew McConaughey; an only marginally less notable turn by co-star Woody Harrelson; an intricate structure and hyper-literate dialogue by writer/creator Nic Pizzolatto; big-screen-worthy direction by Cary Joji Fukunaga; and an anthology format that has the potential to help change the way high-end television is produced.

Hilary Duff made a two time combat vet's dream come true

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Hilary Duff is currently in New York City filming the TV Land pilot Younger and over the weekend she made one lucky fan’s dream come true.

While filming at Chelsea Piers, Hilary took time to meet one of her biggest fans, SPC Michael Lynch, a two time combat veteran who spent 15 months in Iraq and 12 months in Afghanistan.

Michael told us he has seen “everything she has made since Lizzy McGuire and owns every album she has made.” And, as if that weren’t enough to make him a huge fan, his mother shares the same birth date with Hilary and he was born only 8 days apart from her.

Michael had seen Hilary on The Dignity Tour seven times but it was too hard to meet her so he was excited to get the chance to see her in NYC.

“When she first came out I was at a lost for words,” he said of their meeting on Saturday. “I feel like I had so many things I wanted to tell her and forgot, I couldn’t speak, LOL. We talked about her son and her missing him. We talked about her new album and her getting back into the studio. She told me she respects the military and everything we do.”

It sounds like Hilary appreciates her fans as much as they appreciate her!

'The Originals' First Look: Rebekah and Genevieve nurse patients back to health in 1919

Last we left New Orleans, there was a new team of witches in town, and they were out for blood. Then again, that could have to do with the fact that the witches weren’t very new at all, but rather very, very old. Thanks to Celeste’s resurrection magic, she now has Bastiana and Genevieve by her side. But the question remains: Why are they looking for vengeance? What is their past with the town?

Death Watch 2014: TV Show Survival Predictions

Once again we stand in vigil while gazing at the broadcast schedule, watching and waiting to see which prime-time series will be the next to … snuff it.

Morbid, we know.

Here’s a status update on nearly all the current shows on the five broadcast networks. Though ratings are still key, a show’s fate is increasingly impacted by other factors: ABC’s Revenge would likely get axed if it weren’t for its impressive DVR numbers. The CW’s Reign has improved odds because of it’s co-produced in-house and ABC’s Neighbors may survive because the bar is lower on Fridays. So we spoke with insiders to try and craft an accurate prognosis for each show. Let’s start with …

Fans Mob Wax One Direction Figures

Fans were treating the wax figures of One Direction members Louis Tomlinson, center, and Liam Payne, second from right, like they would the real thing during an unveiling ceremony at Madame Tussauds in Tokyo on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Kisses, hugs and even selfies were the order of the day as the British lads managed to hold a pose through it all. Let's hope wax One Direction holds up in Tokyo better than wax Justin Bieber fared in the U.S. The Biebs display at Madame Tussauds in New York had to be removed because repeated handling by fans over the years degraded the figure. According to the museum, "It no longer does justice either to the star or to the attraction," the New York Post reported.

Another exciting casting for Fox’s 24 reboot Live Another Day: Michelle Fairley is joining the show in a major villainous role.

Greta Gerwig to star, write, and be a producer on "How I Met Your Dad"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Greta Gerwig has landed the leading role on the How I Met Your Mother spin-off How I Met Your Dad, TVGuide.com has learned.

From HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, as well as Up All Night creator Emily Spivey, the comedy pilot tells a brand new story from the point of a view of a woman named Sally (Gerwig).

Sally is described as a female Peter Pan, who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life. She has just figured out that she has nothing in common with her husband of less than a year. A breakup is inevitable, but Sally will find a solid circle of support in her friends and family, who are often too willing to give "good" advice that can backfire badly. Meanwhile, Sally must sift through the input and decide what's best for her.

Gerwig, who will also write and produce HIMYD, was most recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy for her performance in Frances Ha.

How I Met Your Dad is slated to shoot its pilot in Los Angeles, but will move production to New York should the comedy be picked up to series.

'I was a nerdy teenager!' Brooklyn Decker transforms into what she looked like in high school

Now she is one of the world's sexiest swimsuit models gracing everything from magazine covers to the big screen, but Brooklyn Decker swears it was not always this way.

While it is hard to imagine that the 5-foot-9 curvacious blonde was ever an ugly the ducking, the 26-year-old has sought the help of her makeup team to show what she used too look like - and the results are far from cover girl worthy.

The wife of Andy Roddick posted two photographs of herself being transformed back into 'High school Brooklyn' on her Instagram on Tuesday, complete with glasses, badly curled hair, braces and even pimples.

Simon confirms Cheryl is in talks for X Factor UK return

Simon Cowell has confirmed Cheryl Cole is in talks to return to The X Factor.

The 54-year-old music mogul will return to the ITV singing competition's judging panel this year after a three-year absence and for the first time he has acknowledged that former judge Cheryl could join him.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the Britain's Got Talent auditions on Tuesday at London's Hammersmith Apollo, Simon said of his negotiations with Cheryl: 'To be fair to Cheryl, it hasn't been about the money with her. It's about whether she wants to do it and whether she can handle the pressure, so I'm not quite sure yet [if she will come back].'

However, it seems the X Factor creator has some work to do if he is to convince the 30-year-old beauty to return to the panel alongside him.

He added: 'She had her poker face on.'

Simon went on to compliment the songstress, with whom he has had a contentious relationship after she was axed from the US version of The X Factor in 2011.

He said of his meeting with Cheryl: 'I thought she looked and sounded the best I've seen her in years.

The X Factor USA was cancelled by FOX last week amid low ratings and Simon – who produced and judged the show for three years – has blamed the show's failure on the US TV market being too 'competitive'.

He explained: 'I don't know why any show would want to be in America right now - anyone - because it's too tough of a market. I mean, there's going to be, this year, something like 14 talent shows on American TV.

Shirley Temple passes away aged 85.

Hollywood actress and former child star Shirley Temple has died aged 85.

The American actress started her screen career at the age of three in 1932 and became known for films such as Bright Eyes, The Little Colonel, Poor Little Rich Girl and Heidi.

She lifted America's spirits as a bright-eyed, dimpled child movie star during the Great Depression and later became a US diplomat.

She retired completely from the film industry by the age of 22 but went on to host Shirley Temple's Storybook and The Shirley Temple Show from 1958 to 1961.

In a statement, Temple's family said the actress died of natural causes and "peacefully passed away" on Monday at her home in California "surrounded by her family and caregivers".

"We salute her for a life of remarkable achievements as an actor, as a diplomat, and most importantly as our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and adored wife of 55 years," the statement said.
