Is Ben Affleck Threatening to Quit "Batman vs. Superman"?

Let’s get one thing clear before we dive in: Ben Affleck has not dropped out of Batman vs. Superman as of this writing. But the situation is taking a turn that suggests Affleck might not be moving into the batcave anytime soon.

If you’re keeping track of the flurry of rumors regarding this production you’ll know that it’s been a bumpy ride from the outset. Coming off the heels of a delay to 2016 we’re now hearing whispers from an inside source that a lengthening shooting schedule as well as reported clashes with scriptwriter David Goyer are leading to a potential parting of ways between the actor/filmmaker and the project. At the forefront of Affleck’s issues is a script that’s miles away from where he feels it needs to be. This is further compounded with the actor/filmmaker’s concerns that the BvS shoot will conflict with his plans to direct the adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s Live By Night in the fall. Between the power Goyer has been wielding over both this film and Justice League (of which he’s contracted to write both) and an ever-increasing amount of conflicting studio notes, it’s all getting to be a bit much for the man who would be Batman; so much so that our source says Affleck is telling WB to get their house in order ASAP or find another Caped Crusader.

What’s interesting is that Warner Brothers so wants to continue in the Ben Affleck business that they’ve reportedly expressed a willingness to let the man bow out gracefully and without damaging their non-DC projects currently in-house (including but not limited to geo-political thriller King of Heists). The ball is totally in Affleck’s court should he decide to stay or go.

Not that the Argo director needs my advice, but I’ll offer it up anyway: Walk. Leave this troubled Batman vs. Superman in the dust and continue a career resurgence that doesn’t need the sort of fervor and tentpole expectations inherent with the Batman franchise. Affleck’s inclusion here never fit in the sense that dude can pretty much write his ticket in Hollywood right now. He doesn’t need Batman, and I’m not even convinced a name actor is best-suited for a reboot of this magnitude.

Don’t be surprised if Warner scraps entirely and fasttracks a sequel to Man of Steel, one more focused on telling a self-contained Superman story that hints at a more expanded universe down the line. That last part is merely speculation, but major shakeups are already occurring in the form of the studio allegedly gutting the project’s pre-viz team over the weekend. Could a greater overhaul, one that sees an increasingly crowded* Batman vs. Superman scrapped for a more subtle and longterm approach, be far behind?

Novak Djokovic loses to Stanislas Wawrinka in Australian Open QF

Stanislas Wawrinka has caused one of the biggest upsets of the Australian Open, knocking out three-time defending champion Novak Djokovic 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 9-7 on Tuesday night.

Wawrinka carried a poor 2-17 win-loss record against the second seed into the match - with one of those wins a Djokovic retirement in 2006 - but looked every bit his equal in their quarter-final.

"Last year (at the Australian Open) I didn't finish it and it was really tough. But this year I came back, it's a new year and I was feeling really good," Wawrinka said.

"I tried everything, he's an amazing champion ... I'm really, really, really, really happy."

I'm so happy and excited you guys! It's about time someone else won the Aus Open. I don't care much for Stan either way but I cried when he won haha. Also hi, I basically never post here! Who are your favs still standing? :)

Metallica, Dirt Bikes and Jesse Pinkman: Checking in With Aaron Paul

In director Kat Candler's Hellion – a feature-length expansion of her 2012 Sundance selected-short of the same name – Aaron Paul sheds the tormented Jesse Pinkman to play the similarly distraught Hollis, a man who recently lost his wife and is left to care for two young boys. The heavy metal-listening, motorcross-obsessed kids (played by impressive newcomer Josh Wiggins and the adorable Deke Garner) race around their small Texas town trespassing, vandalizing and generally getting into trouble. Eventually, Child Protective Services becomes involved, and Hollis is forced to contend with his situation. Rolling Stone spoke with Paul at the Sundance Film Festival about dirt biking, Candler's mix-tapes and the actor's late-night heart-to-heart with Peter Dinklage after the SAG Awards.

After Breaking Bad, what attracted you to this character?

I'm madly in love with my wife. I can't imagine losing her. It's the worst possible thought I could think of. So I could see why Hollis is where he's at. I couldn't wait to zip on that skin and feel those emotions. I always tend to gravitate towards the more affected characters because I think that's how life is – you're a product of your own environment and a jumble of circumstances.

Ke$ha (allegedly) Sends Message To Fans From Rehab

LOL Stay Classy, K$.

Apart from her explanation that she needs to "learn to love myself again," when Ke$ha checked into rehab earlier this month, not much was known about what started her battle with an eating disorder. But no matter what caused it, the star reassured her fans on Tuesday (January 21) that she's getting better.

According to a message posted on the pop star's Twitter account, Ke$ha's stay at Chicago's Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center doesn't allow her access to social media, but that doesn't mean she couldn't pass along an update through a friend. "THANK YOU. SOOO MUCH. I'm overwhelmed to tears by all of the love, letters, and support!! I'll be back soon and better than ever," the tweets read.

Zac Efron talks Rehab and "That Awkward Moment" on the Today Show

Zac Efron is back and feeling better than ever.

After completing a stint in rehab last spring for what sources say was a drug problem, the actor is moving forward and using that challenging period in his life to grow.
"I'm so happy. I feel like I'm in a great place and I'm glad that I'm really here to share this moment with everybody and be present for all of it," Efron, 26, told PEOPLE at Tuesday's That Awkward Moment press conference in New York City.

Bond, Batman, & More: Who Played These 10 (Well, 4) Iconic Characters The Best, ONTD?

This past weekend saw the release of "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," the latest film to feature Tom Clancy's CIA analyst. It's probably fair to say that the film didn't live up to Paramount's expectations as a franchise re-starter, opening in fourth at the box office with a disappointing $15 million, and is heading to a rather ignominious future as a film that you watch ten minutes of on cable before realizing that you've already watched it.

But the film will at least be remembered for one thing: with Chris Pine taking over the lead role, it marks the fourth actor in five movies to play the title character, which must be something of a record—James Bond has had six actors, but over 23 movies, for instance. But it got us thinking about some of the characters who've appeared on screen most frequently, from masked heroes to royalty to religious icons.

So, in celebration (?) of Paramount's achievement, we've picked ten movie characters who've been played by multiple actors, and tried to work out which of their many incarnations was the best. To help pare things down, we've mostly excluded Shakespeare's characters (there've been over 50 versions of "Hamlet" alone), and, for the most part, historical figures, though we've made some exceptions here and there. You can take a look below, and voice your thoughts in the comments section below.

IndieWire's Playlist Team Rounds Up The 25 (Well, 5) Films That Defined The Sundance Film Festival

As you might have noticed from the wall-to-wall level of coverage over the last week or so, the Sundance Film Festival has grown considerably from its humble beginnings back in 1978, when it was inaugurated as the Utah/US Film Festival and had a remit to showcase exclusively American-made independent films, and to promote filmmaking in the region. Robert Redford's involvement as a guiding patron led to its name change in 1981, from which point on it expanded gradually, until a kind of Cambrian explosion occurred with the arrival of "sex lies & videotape" 25 years ago. This, a film that, with only a touch of hyperbole, could be said to have remade the festival into the modern titan it is today. In fact, like some of the films it has championed over the years, the main gripe with Sundance these days is that it has become a victim of its own success, selling out its original independent aims to become a media and celebrity-driven extravaganza, which has been co-opted as little more than a testing ground for studios on the prowl for a cheap acquisition. It once was David, the complainers claim, but now it's become Goliath.

But maybe that is a rather unfair assessment of a festival that continues to do great work in terms of championing new filmmakers and delivering to them a conduit to get their films seen by a larger number of people (if queuing up behind Ashton Kutcher on the odd red carpet is the price to pay for increased exposure, we can't see too many struggling independent filmmakers complaining). Through the years, the festival has had an enormous impact on the independent filmmaking landscape, launching the careers of some of the very directors, actors, screenwriters and producers without whom we can't imagine what the film industry, let alone this blog, might look like.

And even as it has showcased these talents, Sundance has been symbiotically affected by many of them too, basking in the halo effect of its association with some of the most respected film professionals working today, even as the image of the ideal “Sundance Film” has changed over the years. So what we have here is not a list of the biggest films the festival has ever produced, nor even the best, but simply an eclectic selection of 25 films that we judge to be quintessentiallySundance,” in that their fortunes were materially altered by their exposure at the festival, and they, in their turn, further defined our idea of what the Sundance Film Festival is all about.

Bruce Springsteen's son joins New Jersey fire department

The youngest son of Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa has just become a full member of the Colts Neck, N.J., fire department. Unleash your obligatory "I'm on Fire" puns now.

Sam Springsteen, 20, has graduated from the Monmouth County Fire Academy, reports the Asbury Park Press. Both of his parents attended the ceremony, which was held at the Fire Academy in Howell, N.J.

Proud mom Scialfa posted an Instagram of Sam wearing his fireman's helmet with a note announcing the graduation, then added hashtags: "#Proud #OurFamilyHero." Her feed reveals additional pictures of Dad and his sons. (Springsteen and Scialfa have three children: Evan, 23; Jessica, 22; and Sam.)

"This is not an easy course," Monmouth County Fire Marshal Henry Stryker III told the Asbury Park Press. "There's a lot of physical stuff and a lot of hard work."

That hard workload includes 188 hours of instruction in areas that include rescue, fire extinguishment, hazardous materials response, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, electrical safety and the care of hoses, ladders and equipment, noted the publication.

The Springsteens are longtime New Jersey residents and live on their horse farm in Colts Neck.

Rashida Jones to Headline Tribeca, TBS Comedy Pilot from Steve Carell

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Rashida Jones‘ post-Parks and Recreation future just became a lot clearer.

The actress has copped the lead role in TBS’ single-camera comedy pilot Tribeca, co-created and directed by Steve Carell.

The satirical project explores an eccentric yet capable group of people who investigate crimes while revealing way too much about themselves.

Jones — who will exit NBC’s Parks and Rec this season — stars as Angie Tribeca, a 10-year veteran of the LAPD’s Really Heinous Crimes Unit (RHCU) who is not thrilled when she is assigned a new partner.

Carell, of course, starred on The Office, on which Jones also appeared as Karen Filippelli. He co-wrote theTribeca pilot with his actress-wife Nancy Carell (aka Michael Scott’s girlfriend Carol Stills).

If Award Shows Were High School Archetypes

Award shows have personalities just like anyone else; what makes the Oscars different from the People's Choice Awards is a gulf as wide as what made the prom queen different from the student government kids. Maybe award shows seem like high school archetypes because the experience must be so like adolescence: you're terrified you don't look right, you're nervous over whether or not people like you enough and there's a pretty good chance you'll end up being a loser by the end of the night. From the parking lot kids that are The Golden Globes to the slightly too defensive Emmy Awards, here are the award shows you love as the people from high school you knew.

Pitbull & Ke$ha's 'Timber' Still Tops Hot 100; Katy Perry's 'Slay Horse' Gallops To No. 2

Pitbull and Ke$ha post a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Timber." Meanwhile, OneRepublic scores its first No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart with "Counting Stars" and Beyonce does the same on Streaming Songs with "Drunk in Love," featuring Jay Z. Plus, Lorde and Bastille each climb into the Hot 100's top 10.

As we do each Wednesday, let's run down the numbers behind the Hot 100's top 10 and more.

Pitbull's second Hot 100 No. 1 and Ke$ha's third topper remains in charge of the Hot 100 despite not ruling any of the Hot 100's three main component charts (Digital Songs, Radio Songs and Streaming Songs) for a second week. Still, the continued multi-platform popularity of "Timber" keeps the song atop the Hot 100.

Below "Timber" on the Hot 100, Katy Perry climbs into the runner-up spot (4-2) with "Dark Horse," featuring Juicy J. The track tops Digital Songs (261,000, up 7%) and the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart (1.9 million, down less than 1%) for a second week each. It rises 5-3 on Streaming Songs (5.2 million, up 8%) and becomes Perry's 14th top 10 (and 12th in-a-row) on Radio Songs, where it trots 11-9 (82 million, up 22%), earning the Hot 100's top Airplay Gainer award for a third straight week.

Dating to the Radio Songs chart's December 1990 launch, Perry's 14 top 10s ties Beyonce's sum for fifth-place among women. Mariah Carey, the leader among all artists, boasts 23, followed by Rihanna (22) and Janet Jackson and P!nk (15 each).

In terms of overall Hot 100 chart points, "Timber" narrowly claims the top rung over "Horse," finishing first by a mere 2% margin. With the former down by 4% and the latter up by 10%, the stage could be set for "Horse" to gallop into the Hot 100's winner's circle next week.

Simon Cowell Tells Harry Styles to Stay Away From Kendall Jenner

Simon Cowell wants Harry Styles to stay away from Kendall Jenner and her momager Kris Jenner.

The music mogul isn’t happy with the One Direction star’s latest relationship.

“Simon knows how controlling and manipulative Kris is because he had dealings with her when Khloe Kardashian co-hosted the U.S. X Factor for one season,” a source said. “So when he heard Kris had already asked Harry to appear on the family reality show, he was livid. He told Harry that doing the show would not only be embarrassing, there’d be no benefit to him whatsoever.”

Cowell was left furious when Harry told him about the night Kris and Kendall introduced him to Kanye West.

“By the end of that evening, Kanye was inviting Harry to come into the studio to lay down some tracks,” said the source. (lmaoooo)

“Simon freaked when he heard that!” said the source. “He’s really worried about losing control of Harry. He knows his lead singer’s been thinking about a solo career, so the last thing he needs is the Kardashians and Kanye digging their claws into the One Direction star and trying to separate him from the rest of the band – not to mention Simon’s record label!”

Trove of 1980s Madonna pop culture awaits auction

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Long before Newsweek called her a “tarted-up floozy,” way before she married and had babies and adopted babies, and a lifetime before she opened an Instagram account, Madonna was a young woman in New York trying to make it big.

That ambition — and a good bit of innocence — can be seen in a collection of photos, art and drawings that are on the auction block Feb. 9 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The collection is owned by the parents of Martin Burgoyne, an artist, Studio 54 bartender and Madonna’s best friend during that time.

Burgoyne and Madonna befriended each other before she became famous. They were roommates and he played a huge role in Madonna’s early career. He managed her first tour and drew the cover image of Madonna for her 1983 ‘Burning Up’ EP album cover. They partied with artists Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and others. He was raised in England and went to New York to study art at the Pratt Institute.

Madonna and Burgoyne also supported each other emotionally and financially during hard times — after she was raped and when Burgoyne contracted AIDS.

Burgoyne died in 1986 after battling that disease. He was 23. Madonna wrote a song about him called “In This Life” that was on her 1992 album ‘Erotica.’

Jon Gosselin To Sue For Custody Of Sextuplets

Jon Gosselin is taking Kate to court again! Jon reveals the bombshell news in an exclusive new interview with In Touch, explaining to the mag that he plans to sue for primary custody of 9-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah, and give them a chance at a normal childhood.

“They live in fear of Kate,” Jon says in the new issue of In Touch, on newsstands now. “Every time I see them, they tell me they want to live with me.”

His twins' appearance on the Today show was the last straw, Jon tells In Touch. He claims Kate violated their custody agreement by not giving him the option of watching the younger six kids when she took Mady and Cara out of Pennsylvania.

“First, I’m going to file for an emergency petition for contempt ... The next step is to fight for custody,” says Jon, who adds that he will file as soon as he saves enough money for lawyers and paperwork fees. “It’s the only way I can protect the younger six.”

Jon can’t bear to see his children suffer anymore — and he believes that seeking custody is the only option he has left.

“Regardless of what the judge decides, I have to at least try,” says Jon. “I just wish Kate would wake up, realize how she’s behaving — and change her ways.”

Gaga's 'Gypsy' May or May Not Be The Third Single Off Artpop

News broke Tuesday afternoon that Interscope's Kedrick Phan, the Assistant to the President of Promotion/Radio and Video promotion coordinator -- according to his LinkedIn profile, uploaded audio of the 14th track off ARTPOP, "Gypsy". The Madeon produced song also appears on the official Interscope radio playlist website. Usually, this means that the track will be sent to radio within a few weeks time. However, this isn't always the case. After links were exchanged and the news spread, the power of assumption took over and led fans and fansites alike to believe that this is in fact the third single from ARTPOP.

PropaGaga reached out to a member of the Haus of Gaga, who confirmed that the song being uploaded is not a confirmation of it's status as a third single, and that they weren't sure why the track had been uploaded. "We haven't chosen the song yet," they continued. So what does this all mean? Well, it means that "Gypsy" isn't necessarily not the third single, but it also means that they have another song or two competing for this spot, and we should wait for an official announcement from Lady Gaga or the Haus of Gaga.

Netflix Plans ‘Substantial’ European Expansion in 2014

Netflix may be ready to take Europe by storm, with possible launches in France and Germany this year, as the Internet streaming leader announced plans to greatly boost its presence on the continent.

“We plan later this year to embark on a substantial European expansion. Our success this year in international net additions and shrinking contribution losses confirms our belief that there is a big international opportunity for Netflix.”

Netflix added 2.3 million streaming subscribers in the U.S. during the fourth quarter of 2013 — slightly higher than analyst expectations.

At the end of 2013, Netflix had 33.4 million streaming-video subscribers in the U.S. Overseas, the company added 1.7 million to stand at 10.9 million internationally.

Analysts expected Netflix to add 2.05 million streaming subscribers in the U.S. during the period, according to a Bloomberg average of 10 estimates. According to Netflix’s Q4 guidance, issued last October, the company anticipated adding between 1.6 million and 2.4 million U.S. streaming subscribers.

At the end of Q3, the company had 31.09 million U.S. streaming subscribers, 9.19 million international subs and 7.15 million DVD-by-mail customers.

Archaia announces new plans for Henson properties, including Labyrinth

 photo 1-903e6327e31small_zps9ba39237.jpg

A new generation is discovering Jim Henson's fantasy films of the 1980s, and Boom! Studios is doing their part to help spread — and continue — that legacy.

In April, the comic-book publisher's graphic-novel imprint Archaia releases a hardcover reprinting of the original 1986 Labyrinth novelization by A.C.H. Smith with never-before-seen goblin sketches by illustrator Brian Froud and several pages from Henson's own journal.

In addition, Archaia's planning similar reprints of the novelizations for Henson's 1982 film The Dark Crystal and the 1988 TV series The Storyteller plus new material that ultimately will lead to a Henson-centric line of comics.

"We want to create graphic novels that people will be reading 20 years from now and building on that part of the legacy," says Stephen Christy, Boom! vice president of development.

I know, I know - two Labyrinth posts in two days. Still, it's a cause for celebration! This baby has been setting people back 50 bucks on ebay for the past 15 years, so reissuing it is a smart movie for everyone involved. I'm looking forward to seeing what else they do with it.

Kate Upton's Sexy Vacation With Ex-Boyfriend Justin Verlander

Discreetly dating! Kate Upton and Justin Verlander are on-again after the two were spotted "looking very cozy" together in the Bahamas over the holidays, a source confirms to Us Weekly.

The buxom model, 21, and the Detroit Tigers pitcher, 30, "spent all weekend in the Bahamas together" on the gorgeous tropical island St. Thomas up to New Year's Eve, the insider tells Us. "We spotted them looking very cozy having dinner at the restaurant Mahogany House near Lyford Cay," says the eyewitness. Upton, who had her hair in a bun with a blue scarf, and Verlander, wearing a white button-down shirt, were "sitting on the same side of the table" for the romantic meal.

The Other Woman actress and Verlander first met while shooting a commercial for MLB 2K12 back in 2012. While their initial breakup timeline remains unknown, the Sports Illustrated model split from DWTS alum Maskim Chmerkovskiy after a six-month long relationship that ended in December. Rumors of Upton's potential rekindled romance with Verlander were sparked after the athlete and blonde bombshell were snapped together by an eagle-eyed Flyers fan who was at a hockey game in Philadelphia on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Verlander is currently in Philly recovering from a core muscle repair surgery performed in a local hospital last Wednesday following a December injury. The pitching ace shared a cute picture of himself relaxing and smiling in a physical therapy room on Tuesday, Jan. 21: "'They try to make me go to rehab and I said'…. Yes, yes, yes," he wrote two days after exchanging flirty football-related tweets with Upton.

Jay Leno sat down for an interview with 60 Minutes that will air this Sunday, less than two weeks before he hosts his last Tonight Show and passes the late night reins to Jimmy Fallon. In the preview clip below, Leno admits that he might want to stay on with NBC, but given the circumstances says the network’s plan makes “perfect sense.”

“I probably would have stayed if we didn’t have an extremely qualified young guy ready to jump in,” Leno says of Fallon. “But we have somebody, very good, very talented.” Paying what is perhaps the highest compliment a late night host could receive, Leno goes on to call his successor “more like a young Johnny [Carson] than anyone since… so you go with the new guy, makes perfect sense to me.”

But if things had gone down differently with NBC, he would not have been so easy-going. “If they had said, ‘Look, you’re fired, we don’t know who we’re going to get, we don’t know what we’re going to put in there, but anybody but you, we just want you out of there,’ I would be hurt and offended.”

After Leno steps down on February 6th, Fallon will premiere to new Tonight Show from NBC’s New York studios on Monday, February 17th, with guests Will Smith and U2.

It's OFFICIAL! Lady Gaga to release 'GYPSY' as next ARTPOP single

Lady Gaga’s record label Interscope has announced “Gypsy” as the third single from the singer’s latest album ARTPOP.

“This song is about travelling the world and sometimes feeling very lonely, but being okay with being alone because I have my fans and because when I get to a different country they are my home just for the day,” Gaga said of “Gypsy.”

She added: “This record is all about falling in love but it’s also about what I think the key is to staying in love. That’s not trying to stop the other person from being on their own journey, not trying to stop them from being who they are.”

The track was co-produced by young French DJ Madeon and Lady Gaga, and co-written by Lady Gaga, Madeon, DJ White Shadow and RedOne. This is Gaga’s first collaboration with RedOne since the 2011 single “Judas.”

You can purchase Gypsy on iTunes here.

Lorde Texts Taylor Swift for Advice, Opens Up About Cyberbullying of Boyfriend James Lowe

Is there anyone who isn't BFFs with Taylor Swift these days? The "I Knew You Were Trouble" chanteuse has been spotted hanging out with everyone from Sarah Hyland and Jaime King to Selena Gomez and Hailee Steinfeld in recent weeks -- and now a new Rolling Stone profile on Lorde reveals that she also texts back and forth with the 17-year-old "Royals" songstress.

At one point during the magazine's interview with Lorde (real name: Ella Yelich-O'Connor), the New Zealander frets over what to buy as a Christmas gift for her manager. She's torn between a hand-shaped brass bowl and a "minimalist globe table lamp," so she texts photos of both to Swift to get her opinion.

Tensions between director/author on Fifty Shades set? Also local man performs act of heroism.

It sounds like not everything is going super hot on the Fifty Shades of Grey movie set.

Just a few days after the film's producer Michel De Luca told us that the chemistry between costars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson is super hot, E! News has learned that there's a little bit of tension between director Sam Taylor-Johnson and Fifty Shades author E.L. James.

"Sam is getting annoyed about the way the script is being handled," a source tells E! News exclusively. "E.L. James wants the movie to match the book exactly, but Sam has a different perspective. Sam is reminding E.L. she writes books and she makes movies. This has caused some tension between the two of them."

Despite the director-author hiccup, Dornan and Dakota's relationship is just fine. "Jamie Dorman is really protective over Dakota," the source says. "She is very friendly and talks to everyone [crew, security, etc.] Jamie stays to himself and does not talk much. Jamie thinks Dakota gets really distracted, because she is so nice to people and so he will walk over to who she is talking to and try and end the conversation. He is nice about it, but he does ask them to leave her alone."

Watch Patti Smith Cover Rihanna's "Stay"

Here's something cool that was lost in the year-end abyss of late December: Patti Smith paid tribute to Rihanna by performing "Stay", the subdued ballad (and duet with Mikky Ekko) from last year's Unapologetic, during her show at New York's Webster Hall on December 30. She stumbled a little bit—"I'm sorry, I'm just nervous," she said—which made it even more perfect. This should earn her a lifelong honorary membership in the Rihanna Navy.

First look: Michael Phelps on 'Suits'

Michael Phelps loves the legal drama Suits, USA's top-rated original drama. He has tweeted about being a fan and has called the show one of his favorites. Now the Olympic swimmer is making an appearance on its midseason return, March 6 (Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT),

In the scene, after Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) failed to sign Phelps as a client, the lawyer's girlfriend and new colleague Dana "Scottie" Scott (Abigail Spencer) is determined to land the star athlete for the firm. They're at a restaurant when Phelps walks in. Spencer serves up some saucy dialogue and Phelps plays it cool.

Macht says when he first met Phelps, who played himself on Entourage and has hosted Saturday Night Live, the swimmer was getting his hair cut and got a little starstruck. "He kept on looking at me and giggling," says Macht. Once he got over that, "We basically hung out for the day. It was very cool."

As for delivering his four lines? "Athletes are great at what they do," says Macht, "But you never know if they can act." In Phelps' case, it was no problem. "When it came to shooting, he turned out to be complete natural," says Macht. "We'd love to have him back."

Al Roker Is Pissed At the New NYC Mayor

Today show weatherman Al Roker tore into Bill de Blasio's overnight response to the snowstorm which caused traffic chaos across the Big Apple - after the New York Mayor claimed the city was caught by surprise.

Venting his frustration with the new administration, Roker, who is widely respected as the nation's most trusted weather presenter, used this morning's show to pour scorn on de Blasio's claim that the storm arrived three hours earlier than expected.

'They claimed it caught them off guard, that it came in early,' a clearly irate Roker exclaimed.

'No, no, no, it didn't! They should have been watching us!'

Vampire Weekend performs on Jimmy Kimmel

“Unbelievers” is an ode to Vampire Weekend’s signature poppy, intellectually rambling songs that put them on the map with their 2007 self-titled release. Deciding to perform “Hannah Hunt” is an interesting choice, as it’s maybe one of the more overlooked songs on the album with calm piano with a sad Ezra Koenig, singing about how “there’s no future / there’s no answer.” Perhaps this will be Vampire Weekend’s “Hey Jude?” Probably not. But it’s still worth listening to.

Though the gang may dress like they’re in elementary school, the toned down tunes are a good indicator of the more mature sounds that these modern vampires have been playing since their latest record. “Modern Vampires of the City” was a top pick for a great deal of music lists summing up 2013′s releases.

In other recent, vampire-related news, the band will be performing at the Governors Ball in June.

Katy Will Perform 'Dark Horse' at the Grammys

The show caught up with Grammys Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich who, first and foremost, confirmed the rumored bit that hip-hop's royal couple, Jay Z and Beyoncé, are indeed going to take the stage. And then, of course, he dropped a few other juicy bits…

We already knew Katy Perry had plans to wow the crowd, but how would she be topping that much-discussed Geisha-themed rendition of "Unconditionally" at the American Music Awards late last year?

"This time she's bringing it. It's all production," Ehrlich said. "We're taking a trip to Never Neverland on this one. … She's doing 'Dark Horse,' and it's a huge hit right now."

But Katy and Beyoncé aren't the only big name acts that will be hitting the Staples Center stage. Robin Thicke, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Lorde, Daft Punk featuring Stevie Wonder & Pharrell Williams, Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar, Pink, Sara Bareilles featuring Carole King. Taylor Swift, Lindsey Buckingham, Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails, and Queens of the Stone Age and many more are all slated to make big on stage appearances.

How did 'Looking' end up doing in the ratings?

Looking, the comedy about gay men living in San Francisco, saw a soft launch with 338,000 viewers during its premiere episode, before going on to gross 606,000 viewers with encores.

The time slot debut gives a viewership of less than half of Girls (its lead-in), but one comparable with recent comedy launches on the network. Girls averaged 799,000 viewers in its second Sunday and third episode of the season, down 300,000 from last week's series high. (OP: the series premier of "Girls" had 870k viewers)

Girls, already renewed for its fourth season, remains a big time-shifting player. The premiere has already exceeded 3 million viewers. Last season saw an average 5 million weekly viewers tuning in across platforms. The same week saw True Detective average 1.67 million viewers during its second episode, down from the premiere's 2.3 million viewers -- a three-year high for an HBO launch.

Will HBO kill this like they did Enlightened, or will they keep it alive for the sake of the pink dollar?

China ends ban of Lady Gaga, but not without censorship.

China lifts three-year ban on Lady Gaga, though singer’s album ARTPOP will still be heavily censored

After three years on the blacklist, pop artist Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP will officially go on sale in the country on Tuesday, reports indicate.

Gaga, who was placed on China’s list of banned artists in 2011, when the country’s culture minister claimed the Poker Face singer was “creating confusion in the order of the online music market, and damaging the nation’s cultural security.”

Six songs by Lady Gaga — The Edge of Glory, Hair, Marry the Night, Americano, Judas and Bloody Mary, all from her 2011 album Born This Way — led to the 2011 ban. The singer’s works have been pirated and sold illegally in the country since.

When her latest album, ARTPOP, goes on sale in China, it will have undergone somewhat of a makeover to China’s censors: The large metallic ball on the album’s cover has been enlarged to cover more of Gaga’s naked body, and black tights have been added to her bare legs.

The title of Sexxx Dreams was also changed by Chinese officials to the more G-rated X Dreams.

Gaga herself responded to the lifted ban, writing on Twitter that she was excited to have ARTPOP on sale in China and hoped she could tour the country soon.

However, despite widespread news of the lifted ban (and Gaga’s own confirmation), a representative for Universal Music China told CNN that Gaga’s latest album was “already on sale” in China.

“I don’t think ban is the best way to put it,” the spokesperson said.
