Shots Fired: The Originals vs. Pretty Little Liars

The CW is having some bold fun with ABC Family with an ad that urges Pretty Little Liars fans to change the channel. The broadcast network is launching a commercial for its freshman vampire drama The Originals that mocks cable rival PLL — and the ad will actually air during the ABC Family series.

The promo makes pointed references to viewers getting weary of “A.” The ad suggests fed-up fans change over to The CW’s The Originals for some sultry vampire action instead. It’s a marketing tactic that The CW has never attempted before (in fact, while ads for shows sometimes run on rival programs, we’re not sure we’ve ever heard of one that also suggested fans switch channels).

The CW is placing the ad on the ABC Family drama by circumventing the Disney-owned channel’s advertising department and instead purchasing ad time locally from major cable and satellite providers that transmit the show. The promo will air during Tuesday night’s episode of PLL as The CW’s Originals returns to new episodes this week during their mutual 8 p.m. time slot.

Pretty Little Liars responded [back]! The ABC Fam show gave a response that’s perhaps appropriate for being attacked by a vampire drama. And we’re told its #liarsunite hashtag is now trending:

tl;dr = The CW aired an ad during PLL saying that if fans were tired of the "A" drama, to switch over and watch The Originals. PLL fired back on Twitter telling TO to bite them.

Shakira's dropping her 10th Magnum Opus March 25

Shakira’s tenth (TENTH!) album now has a release date and that date is – wait for it, it’s a good one – March 25.

(March is shaping up to be pretty good.)

Anyway, we know this because the ‘Este Amor Es Lo Más Bello Del Mundo’ chanteuse tweeted the date among a flurry of tweets about her duet with Rihanna and how it’s on iTunes now and things.

Here’s the proof:

CBS Continues Its Yellow Hate

In the episode, there’s some sort of bet between Marshall, as played by Jason Segel, and Barney, as portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris.

Barney goes to a kung fu master to get lessons on slapping because, if you didn’t know it, slapping is what kung fu masters specialize in.

Just as the tweets point out, we are subjected to a lot of yellow face casting which should not be acceptable to CBS or to any viewer. It’s just offensive, plain and simple.

I also couldn’t get over the pretty lame editing. The cuts between the slaps, which were supposed to be faster than the eye, and the kung fu master were pretty amateurish.

Mirai Nagasu, Ashley Wagner and the Myth of the Golden Girl

mirai ashley

Over the next 25 days, as the drumbeats for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics grow louder and nearer, we’ll all be sucked into a polar vortex of hype, hoo-hah and hullabaloo, and all of it will essentially say the same damn thing: The Olympics are the pinnacle of meritocracy, where the best and the brightest test themselves against history and one another, measured only by what happens on the field, in the arena, at the bout or meet or tourney.

Some of us will find this fanfare more bitter than usual.

I’m talking about fans of Mirai Nagasu, the 20-year-old figure skater whose Olympic hopes were dashed this week when U.S. Figure Skating made the shocking decision to ignore her bronze medal in the U.S. National Championships — the event that traditionally determines the candidates selected as Olympians — and instead pick 22-year-old Ashley Wagner, who placed a distant fourth after falling twice in her routines, for the team that would represent America in Sochi.

The Originals 1x11 Extended Promo & 1x10 Discussion

I thought Davina was actually going to make Klaus turn into a wolf. I'm disappointed that she didn't - I want to see that.

I feel like Rebekah never really has a clear goal and changes loyalties a lot. I see no reason why Davina should trust her (I noticed she seems to have forgotten she interrogated Katie found out she was in love with Thierry and suggested that Thierry be set-up so that Katie would use magic to save him - her and Klaus worked together on that plan). She goes back and forth - at least with Klaus & Marcel it seems like their goals are at least clear and generally don't change a whole lot.

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana officially back for Avatar 2, 3 and 4

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana have finalized deals to reprise their characters for the next three Avatar movies.

The trio of movies are being made back-to-back-to-back by James Cameron, who last August enlisted Josh Friedman, duo Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, and Shane Salerno to help him work on the screenplays.

The first actor who signed on for all three new movies was Stephen Lang, who played mad Marine Colonel Quaritch in the 2009 film. His character dies in the first film, so it will be interesting to see how Cameron resurrects him.

US senators slam 'glamorization' of e-cigarettes at Golden Globes

A group of U.S. senators is taking the Golden Globes to task for showing celebrities puffing on electronic cigarettes at this year's awards show, complaining such depictions glamorize smoking.

"The Golden Globes celebrates entertainers who are an influence on young fans," the four Democratic senators wrote on Tuesday. "We ask the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and NBC Universal to take actions to ensure that future broadcasts of the Golden Globes do not intentionally feature images of e-cigarettes."

"Such action would help to avoid the glamorization of smoking and protect the health of young fans," said the letter signed by Dick Durbin of Illinois, Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Edward Markey of Massachusetts."

Ciara Opens Up About Baby, New Album, & Beyoncé

A baby is not the only thing Ciara plans to deliver this year. In addition to motherhood, the “Body Party” singer is working on her next album. Fresh off announcing her pregnancy on “The View,” she spoke to The Huffington Post about becoming a mom and the baby’s gender.

While she didn’t say whether she was having a boy or a girl, she did say that her fiancé Future “got what he wanted.”

According to TMZ, Ciara is about seven months pregnant. She and Future plan to wed sometime this year.

She also revealed that she started recording the follow-up to her 2013 album around Thanksgiving and plans to release “something really soon.”

When asked about Beyoncé, Ciara had nothing but kind words. “I respect any woman that works hard and gets success from the hard work that they put into it,” said CiCi, who will perform at the official Grammy after-party.

On her pregnancy: “It really is a blessing. It really is the most exciting time in my life. I do have a [gender] preference, but I don’t want to say that either. I did have a preference before I found out what it was. I had a preference at first and when I was told what it was I felt like it’s gonna be what it’s supposed to be. It was definitely different [than what I thought]. My fiancé got what he wanted. I’m excited.”

On her new album: “I’ve been recording on my album. I actually started around Thanksgiving of last year and I’m in the most comfortable creative space I could possibly be in. I actually will be giving my fans something really soon. I’m really excited about it because it’s so beautiful and really sweet.”

On Beyoncé: “I have a lot of respect for her. I respect any woman that works hard and gets success from the hard work that they put into it. For someone like her, she’s been around for almost 20 years, if I’m not mistaken, or at least a good 15. I’m going on 10 and so when I look at women like her, if anything, you can only get inspired when you see other women like yourself striving to achieve their goals. It’s great because it shows you exactly what you believe. I respect Beyoncé. I respect any woman that’s having success in this because it’s a really hard world to stand strong in, to keep on going and keep reinventing. We all do our own thing and I think that’s the great thing about it. What she and I do is completely different and I feel like there’s no comparison in reference to who we are as artists, which is really cool. There’s a world for all of us to be successful.”

Two Orcas Captured by Hunters for 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics

Even with “Blackfish” and orca freedom movements gaining international ground, all the information available illustrating why orcas do not belong in captivity seems to be falling on deaf ears in Russia.

According to the Mirror, hunters have officially captured two wild orcas that will be kept in a “small concrete tank following a 4,614-mile flight” from Russia’s far east. The aim is to have these two orcas on display at the Sochi Dolphinarium just in time for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, which will begin on February 7.

“It’s a sad day for Russia, a sad thing for the Olympics and a very sad situation for two orcas who now will be flying across seven time zones to spend the rest of their lives in captivity,” a spokesperson for Whale and Dolphin Conservation said via the Mirror.

First Look: New Girl Welcomes Prince for Post-Super Bowl Episode

New Girl is going to party like it's 1999 when special guest star Prince stops by for the Fox comedy's big post-Super Bowl episode on Feb. 2.

Jess (Zooey Deschanel) bonds with the music legend after they meet at a party. "She's goofy and out there, and he's this wise, quiet sort of oracle," says creator Liz Meriwether.

But don't expect boyfriend Nick (Jake Johnson) to be jealous. "Nick's a huge Prince fan," Meriwether says. "He's immediately like, 'It's an honor to give you my girlfriend.'"

The Wolf Among Us Episode 2 to be released early next month

Fans of The Wolf Among Us, Telltale's fantasy noir adventure, have been pounding the dark, mean streets in search of clues to the game's mysteriously missing second episode. The adaptation of the Fables comic book hasn't been spotted since the first episode, Faith, was released in mid-October of last year. And despite Telltale's reassurance that release date info was incoming, owners of the episodic series had been left wondering if they were chasing a red herring.

Wait, is there a herring in Fables? Either way, Telltale have provided some more details of the elusive second chapter. While there's still no exact release date, there is a release window: the first week of February.

"Ep 2 should be available the first week of February," announced Telltale's president Kevin Bruner on their community forum. "We are very concerned about the long delay for this episode, but this is one of those occasions where several things conspired against us (not to mention the additional delays due to the holidays). I won't dive into the details, but it’s been an unusual and specific set of circumstances and we do not anticipate it happening again as we go forward with the rest of the season.

"So there you have it. First week of February!"

While the reason for the delay remains a mystery, then, it's nice to have confirmation that the episode is due soon. It will hopefully spell the end of a strange period of community drama, where the combination of Fable's delay, The Walking Dead: Season 2's launch, and the announcement of two other upcoming adaptations led some to speculate that the developer was spreading itself to thin. As with Valve's Diretide drama, though, the real issue seems to be the lack of communication. I'd imagine the studio's fans would be more than willing to accept a delay, but the lack of any communication with the community gave rise to some rampant speculation.

I have a feeling Telltale is biting off more than they can chew with all of their games that are simultaneously coming out, but hopefully they will get themselves back on track soon. Other than that I am glad we finally have a release date!

There's a New Religion Based on Kanye West and It's Called Yeezianity

In a track off his 2013 album Yeezus, Kanye West requested that we a) hurry up with his damn croissants and then b) remember that he is a God.

An anonymous group of people have taken that song pretty literally, it seems, because they’ve formed an official religion centered around Kanye called Yeezianity. According to its website, the group “believes that the one who calls himself Yeezus is a divine being who has been sent by God to usher in a New Age of humanity.”

Members keep their identities quiet and only reveal their affiliation to those they already know are Yeezians. (Yeezites? Yeezish people?) Kind of like the Illuminati! Wait… hmm…

“We could be anyone you know, from your mailman to the mayor of your city,” the website says. Here are the religion’s five pillars:

1. All things created must be for the good of all
2. No human being’s right to express themselves must ever be repressed
3. Money is unnecessary except as a means of exchange
4. Man possesses the power to create everything he wants and needs
5. All human suffering exists to stimulate the creative powers of Man

VICE spoke with the man who founded the church of Yeezus — though he insisted on remaining anonymous. He clarified that right now it’s more of a theoretical faith than an actual organized, structured religion. However, he started it only a month ago and is open to seeing where it might go. He explained why the rapper inspired him so deeply — and why others tend to have a less-than-positive view of him:

First of all, he is the most honest person in our culture. He has the highest moral standards and highest integrity. He is the most creative person. And as it’s typical with creative people, he gets a lot of flack from the lower minded masses. It’s not even that they don’t like him, it’s that they don’t know what he’s doing because the press gives it this negative spin all the time.

Wonder if Yeezianity’s collection basket will accept donations in Coinye?

Gisele Bündchen Is Better Than You In Every Way But Will Share Some Tips For A Happier Life

Bundchen is NOT just like us, no matter how hard she tries to be.

The 33-year-old supermodel wife of NFL star Tom Brady is known for her gorgeous hair and fabulous body and now, she’s bragging about the secrets behind her million-dollar look – confessing that she doesn’t own a hair brush and hasn’t had soda in 10 years!

“In my job you have to remember people are brushing my hair every day,” the Pantene hair product brand ambassador — who recently shared a picture where she was breastfeeding while getting ready for a photo shoot — told the Associated Press.

“You have to remember the last thing I want (on a day off) is a brush in my hair!”

The catwalk queen also dished on how she maintains that killer body.

“Products are amazing but if you are putting things that are unhealthy inside your body it’s just masking stuff… I haven’t drank soda in 10 years.”

While Brady has enjoyed eleven seasons as a starter at the New England Patriots, earning five trips to the Super Bowl and winning three, Bundchen admitted that she isn’t a true football fan!

She joked, “At night, if my husband is watching television and watching football, I have my little book and I put something in my ears so I don’t hear it and I put my light (on) and have my book and I’m like, `Ohhh.’ He’s feeding his soul and that’s important to him to watch football. I only want to watch if I’m watching him.”

Healthy Parenting

As mother to baby Vivian and son Benjamin and step-mom to Tom’s son Jack with ex-wife Bridget Moynihan, Gisele also dished about her children’s sophisticated palates.

“My kids eat what I eat. The first (solid) food my son had was papaya and then avocado. … He loves garlic because we eat a lot of garlic in our house. Even my little daughter. She will not eat anything unless there’s garlic. Garlic and ginger… They really eat what I eat.”

But Gisele said family always comes first, even with Tom!

“He’s very loving and it’s a wonderful thing. In our house we are very affectionate,” she revealed. ”I think it’s very important for the boys to know that it’s OK to hug and to kiss and you’re not less than a man.”

Bruce Springsteen's Arms Star on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon"

Springsteen Sings Bridgegate Parody With Fallon, Ends Short-Lived Christie Friendship

While being cruelly betrayed by his staff and/or having his own petty act of political retribution exposed left Chris Christie very sad, he's managed to soldier on – but this is probably more than he can bear. For years, Christie's undying love for Bruce Springsteen was unrequited, but after Hurricane Sandy, the Boss finally gave in, hugging the governor and telling him "It’s official. We’re friends." Apparently that's all over now, since last night, Springsteen joined Jimmy Fallon for a Bridgegate parody song set to "Born to Run." (Sample lyric: "You're killing the working man, who's stuck in Governor Chris Christie's Fort Lee, New Jersey traffic jam.) If you have a meeting scheduled with Christie this week, just assume it's canceled. He's going to need a few days to gaze longingly at his copy of Born in the U.S.A. while silently weeping.

LOOKING premiere at the Castro Theatre draws questions: "Where is Tovey? Which one is gay?"

The world premiere of "Looking" at the Castro Theatre on Tuesday night felt less like a Hollywood event exported to the Bay Area, and more like a homecoming.

The upcoming HBO television series embedded its production in San Francisco, with much of it taking place on location throughout the city. When filming of the first eight episodes ended in the fall, actors who had never lived in San Francisco before were reluctant to go.

"It's the hardest city I've ever had to leave when we finished shooting here," series star Jonathan Groff said. "San Francisco is a very difficult city to leave. I think about it every day."

Locations in the first two episodes include Esta Noche bar near 16th and Mission Streets, Philz Coffee, Zuni Cafe and Doc's Clock cocktails.

The premiere itself and Q&A that followed was 95 percent lovefest, 5 percent awkward.

"All I've done is watch it with my mom, which is a little cringe-y, because I start with a sex scene," cast member O.T. Fagbenle said. "I'm really excited to see how people respond."

The crowd laughed and applauded frequently, soaking up insider references about tensions surrounding the tech boom, and housing challenges.

The only boos of the night - and then only a smattering - were directed at a questioner who wanted to know who in the cast was gay and straight. That led to one of the bigger laughs (followed by a long period of stunned silence) when Groff quipped, "We'll tell you if you tell us what you think we are."

If ratings are strong, "Looking" will probably resume shooting in the city later this year.

Groff said, "I think all the people behind the scenes are feeling very vulnerable right now, because we put so much in this project. We're just really hoping people like these characters as much as we do."

Oh and hey, I just found this early review by Tim Goodman at The Bastard Machine, who writes:

Shot on location in a manner that's non-traditional -- in that it's not a postcard Valentine to one of the most beautiful cities in the world (and thus represented solely by the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf and the "painted lady" Victorians) -- Looking is representationally beautiful as it becomes one of the rare shows to focus on real neighborhoods, real views and has a local's appreciation of detail.

Much like New York has been central to any number of series shot on location there, Bay Area viewers will see a lot of familiar spots that locals frequent (which means they don't go to the Wharf), and places that are name-checked are legit. Beyond that, the cinematography is wonderful, catching the non-postcard views that locals love. And Looking was also filming during the Folsom Street Fair, so there's plenty of leather jokes in that episode.

Looking is notable for doing the one thing other shows with gay characters can't or won't -- depict sex and intimacy in a straightforward, unflinching way.

Chris Hemsworth and Wife Elsa Pataky Expecting Twins

Two bundles of joy are on the way for Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky!

A rep for the Thor star confirms to E! News that the couple is expecting twins.

HOLA! magazine first reported the happy news. The 37-year-old Spanish actress is in her third trimester and the babies are due in the spring, the magazine added.

The handsome pair was most recently spotted at the 71st Annual Golden Globes as they posed for photographers on the red carpet.

The smiling blond beauty dressed her growing bump in a black floor-length Paule Ka frock, while the Aussie actor sported a Dolce & Gabbana tux for the star-studded awards show. The 30-year-old star also sweetly cradled his wife's belly.

Hemsworth's rep confirmed in November to E! News that the Fast & Furious 6 actress is pregnant for the second time. They are already parents to 1-year-old daughter India Rose, who will turn 2 before her siblings arrive.

Hemsworth and Pataky started dating in early 2010 and married that December.

"I think [parenthood] brings out the child in all of us," Hemsworth recently told Parade magazine. "That's what's so beautiful. It reminds you of the fascination you had with things and how you can spend hours just being with someone. It's amazing."

Hemsworth also told E! News in June that fatherhood has changed him "for the better."

"It puts things into perspective," he said.

Congrats to the growing family!

How Lorde Broke All the Rules: Inside Rolling Stone's New Issue

Lorde is 17, lives with her parents and loves Sylvia Plath. She also has a worldwide smash with "Royals," four Grammy nominations and acclaim for her smart, unique debut album, Pure Heroine. How'd she become the unlikeliest superstar in pop? Contributing editor Rob Tannenbaum travels to Ella Yelich-O'Connor's New Zealand home to answer that question in our new issue (on stands Friday).

"I get paralyzingly nervous a lot of times, so I tried bravado," Lorde explains, quoting Kanye West's "Dark Fantasy" ("Me found bravery in my bravado"). "The way I dress and carry myself, a lot of people find it intimidating. I think my whole career can be boiled down to the one word I always say in meetings: strength."

RS explores Lorde's childhood (when she ignored an adult trying to influence her artwork at the ripe age of two), tracks the crooked path "Royals" took to Number One and examines how Yelich-O'Connor has become an icon for teen girls of all stripes.

"Everyone talks about Ella as the anti-Miley because she dresses like a witch and she doesn't twerk," explains Tavi Gevinson, the editor of Rookie, the definitive website for self-aware teen girls. Real Time with Bill Maher continues to be a top performer for the network, delivering an average gross audience of 4.1 million viewers per show.

Tamera Mowry-Housley’s Husband Speaks Out On Racist Attacks!

The husband of Tamera Mowry-Housley — who recently talked openly about how she and her husband, Fox reporter Adam Housley have been on the receiving end of nasty, racist attacks — is breaking his silence.

His wife and her twin sister Tia Mowry-Hardict were featured on OWN’s Oprah: Where Are They Now? Friday, and she cried as she shared hurtful comments the twosome have heard of their pairing.

In an interview with TVNewser, Adam says that “the fact that in this day and age, we get attacked for our interracial relationship is beyond sad…it is pathetic. Yes, I am white. Yes, she is half-black. Marrying a white man does not erase her color and marrying a woman who is half-black does not mean I am blinded. The problem isn’t pigmentation…the problem is backwards, bigoted thought from people who should know better.”

Tamera — her mother is black and her father is white — said during the Oprah special that “it’s hurtful, because my husband and I are so openly and fine with showing love, but people choose to look past love and spew hate. That’s what hurts me because I’ve never experienced so much hate ever in my life. I get called ‘white man’s whore.’ The new one was ‘back in the day you cost $300, but now you’re giving it to him for free.”

'Sherlock' Season 4 could return by Christmas 2014

"Sherlock" fans may not have a long wait before the return of Season 4 -- reports indicate that the series could return to the BBC by Christmas 2014.

According to a report in The Sun, the BBC is hoping to fast-track a "Sherlock" return. "The BBC is desperate for a 'Sherlock' Christmas Day special this year. It wants its biggest guns ready," says a source quoted by the publication.

These rumors should, however, be taken with a grain of salt. Not only is this a single report from a single publication (with an anonymous source), but any Season 4 production will need to work around the busy movie schedules of stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

Still, "Sherlock" creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have stated publicly that they have storylines worked out for both Season 4 and a possible Season 5 of the popular series. And a single-year wait would be much better than the almost two years between Seasons 2 and 3 of "Sherlock."

In the U.S., "Sherlock" Season 3 will premiere Sunday (Jan. 19) at 10 p.m. on PBS.

Why ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Shouldn’t Focus On Han, Luke And Leia

As is typical with J.J. Abrams’ projects, there’s been very little heard from the STAR WARS: EPISODE VII camp since its announcement in October 2012. So far we’ve got a concrete release date (Friday 18th December, 2015), R2-D2, and… not much else. Every working actor under the sun seems to have been linked to the sequel in one form or another, and yet so far we haven’t had a single casting confirmation.

Aside from the cast, the other aspect of the sequel that’s been hit by the rumour-mill time and time again is undoubtedly the plot: first, Michael Arndt (TOY STORY 3) was set to pen the script, and did; then, Abrams and EMPIRE STRIKES BACK writer Lawrence Kasdan took over, apparently due to creative differences. Indeed, it now turns out that Abrams has seemingly abandoned most of Arndt’s script, which was based on George Lucas’ original drafts way back in the 1970s, and taken it upon himself (with Kasdan’s help) to rewrite it altogether.

And that’s no understatement: where Arndt’s script focused on the offspring of our trio of heroes, Abrams has decided to leave all that business until episodes eight and nine, instead focusing EPISODE VII on Han, Luke and Leia. Supposedly, this is to give our heroes a ‘proper send-off’ and introduce their kin naturally, but it’s actually a really bad idea.

Emmy Rossum in Complex Magazine February/March 2014

“I’m on the corner like a hooker lol,” texts Emmy Rossum from a curb in Chicago.

The transport van she took from the set of Shameless has backed into a car and, while police file an accident report, she waits for me to pick her up in a cab so we can talk over a late lunch. If the 27-year-old actress with the wide eyes and smile is a prostitute, she’s that beautiful, classy, funny, post-makeover Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman kind.

Seated on soft leather at a corner table in the Ralph Lauren Restaurant on tony Michigan Avenue, Emmy does have a bit of Vivian Ward about her. Dressed in form-fitting jeans, a black and blue sweater, and low-cut black boots with heels, she looks casually glamorous but makes it clear that she doesn’t feel entirely at home with this affluent older crowd. “Now we really are the ladies who lunch,” she jokes while scanning the menu. “I’d much rather make my show for the checkout girl at Trader Joe’s than the girl who is on Michigan Avenue shopping or eating here,” she says of the socioeconomic disparity between people who watch, say, Mad Men, and those who watch Shameless, her Showtime dramedy about a dysfunctional low-income Chicago family. “These chicks aren’t watching my show.”

Maybe the chicks aren’t, but one Asian gentleman stops by the table to say he loves her on Shameless. He mentions that his daughter goes to the Spence School, Manhattan’s Upper East Side all-girl institution, which Emmy once attended. For Emmy, it’s not an endearing connection. The only child of a working single mother, with whom she shared a one-bedroom apartment after her father abandoned them, she felt like an outsider at Spence, which she describes as “crazy WASP-y, preppy.” It wasn’t until her singing talents earned her an invite to the Metropolitan Opera Children’s Chorus that she found a place she fit in. “I thought, ‘Wow, there’s a whole group of people who are weird and eccentric and in-your-face and not scared to be clowns on stage. I want to be with them. That makes me feel safe.’”

Cheer Perfection' Star -- Another One Arrested ... This Time for Drugs

There must be something in the water in Sherwood, Arkansas -- TMZ has learned, another star from TLC's "Cheer Perfection" reality show has just been arrested ... this time for drug possession.

As we reported, one of the show's moms Andrea Clevenger was just arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly raping a 13-year-old boy.

Now, less than a day later, Cheer Time Revolution co-owner Ronald Dunlap has been arrested for marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the Sherwood police report, Dunlap and CTR coach Ryan Dahl (who doesn't appear on the show) were popped around 1AM this morning after an officer claims he found them inside Dahl's car, which reeked of pot.

When confronted, the officer claims Dunlap and Dahl 'fessed up to smoking weed and were placed under arrest. The officer claims he also found a glass pipe in the vehicle. Dunlap has since been released. Dahl is still in custody.

Ronald's wife and CTR co-owner Alisha Dunlap is NOT happy either -- she tells us, Ronald and Ryan are both currently suspended from the gym, which has a zero tolerance drug policy.

Seriously, you can't make this stuff up.

'Friends' Reunion On 'Cougar Town' As Matthew Perry Drops By!

Matthew Perry

It was a reunion of "Friends" and lovers on "Cougar Town" when Matthew Perry joined his one-time TV wife, Courteney Cox. Ironically, he was looking to make her his wife on this show as well. That's because Jules neglected to tell his character -- a billionaire named Sam -- that she was already married. In her indefensible defense, she was trying to weasel her way out of the fact that she'd hit his car.

The proposal was an epic flash mob that Howie Mandel would have loved to be a part of on his short-lived series "Mobbed." Jules, wrapped up in the grandeur of it, said yes. Needless to say, her husband Grayson wasn't all that thrilled. Perhaps it was their on-screen chemistry he didn't like. All those years together on the NBC juggernaut made Cox and Perry fast friends.

In the closing credits, Perry either cracked a great joke, or made a genuine error when walking away from Grayson and Jules in one scene. He called Cox "Monica" rather than "Jules." It was a fun nod to their history together. The New York Post's Andrea Morabito noted that this was the latest in a new trend of "Friends" co-stars appearing on one another's series. In fact, Cox appeared on Perry's last series, "Go On."

"Cougar Town" airs every Tuesday night at 10 p.m. EST on TBS.

Eve Sets Up Semi-Autobiographical Interracial Comedy At ABC

Rapper/actor Eve will be joining Shonda Rhimes, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Kevin Hart, Kenya Barris and Sheldon Candis over at ABC (each of them either already has a show - or shows - on the network's lineup, or has a show - or shows - in development at the network).

ABC has partnered up with Eve on what is said to be a semi-autobiographical comedy, currently untitled, which would see Eve both executive produce and star.

Aaron Kaplan's Kaplan Entertainment will produce, with a likely 2015 season debut for the potential series, which will focus on interracial relationships (Eve is is engaged to British fashion designer Maximillion Cooper in real life, who is white; so I suppose that relationship will be fodder for the TV series, since it's "semi-autobiographical."

No stranger to the big and small screen, Eve's resume includes appearances in both Barbershop movies, xXx, and The Cookout, as well as starred in an eponymous TV series for 3 season on UPN.

ABC is certainly stacking up projects from black content creators. Let's see how many of these actually make it to series.

tbh, I'm side-eyeing the fact that the main plot point of this is the fact that they are in an interracial relationship.

“Veronica Mars” Star Jason Dohring Takes A Return Trip To Neptune

I didn’t wear my Veronica Mars T-shirt to interview Jason Dohring, but the thought did briefly cross my mind. After all, I was one of the few (well, 2.5 million) viewers who obsessively watched the teen sleuth drama from 2004 to 2007, first on UPN and then The CW.

I integrated Veronica’s vernacular into my vocabulary, purchased Mars memorabilia, asked my parents to buy me a T-Mobile Sidekick (Veronica’s cellular weapon of choice), and when series creator Rob Thomas asked for my money in 2013 to help fund a feature film, I happily donated.
And I was not alone.

By now, the story of how Veronica Mars became 2013’s most talked-about social media event is the stuff of legend. Heck, my father even asked if I donated to “that Pluto movie” (he’s trying, guys) when I was home for Thanksgiving. But for those of you who just emerged from underneath a rock, here’s the quick version:
On March 12, 2013, Rob Thomas launched a Kickstarter campaign to turn his beloved neo-noir series about a teenage private eye into a movie. He gave himself two days to raise $2 million. That goal was met in 10 hours. But the Kickstarter clock kept counting and the donations continued to pour in, eventually topping out at $5,702,153 (a new Kickstarter record). So, the film was funded, the movie was made, the T-shirts were silkscreened, and that brings us to the present day, when I’m sitting cross-legged on the floor of a Los Angeles office with Jason Dohring — who played Logan Echolls, the show’s bad boy with a heart of 24-karat gold — talking about the March 14 release of Veronica Mars’ feature film.

'Veronica Mars' to spawn spinoff web series

CW predecessor UPN launched Veronica Mars, a cult hit starring Kristen Bell, which is now being revived as a theatrical film funded on Kickstarter.

Now it's being reborn as a spinoff series for the network's CW Seed online site, in a deal closed this week, the network said Wednesday. But the web series won't surface until sometime after the movie is released in March, and details are scarce. The series will probably span six to eight episodes, five to 10 minutes in length.

Network chief Mark Pedowitz says he spoke to Mars creator Rob Thomas in broad terms about the concept, which he wouldn't share: "He talked a little bit but it wasn't locked it;, he talked about potential people who could be involved, but he didn't commit to anybody."

Consolidated the big announcement...I knew it was just mini episodes, and I'm cool with that. Plus we get a book series soon. :)

Walt Disney's Relative Agrees With Meryl Streep's Criticism

The grandniece of Walt Disney is weighing in on Meryl Streep's recent comments about the entertainment mogul, saying she has no doubt that Disney was racist, anti-semitic and misogynistic.

During a recent speech given during an awards gala, Oscar-winner Streep referred to Walt Disney as a "gender bigot" and person who "supported an anti-Semitic industry lobbying group."

Walt Disney's grandniece Abigail Disney -- a filmmaker, scholar and social activist -- addressed Streep's comments last Friday on her Facebook page, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "If you are going to have mixed feelings about a family member (and we all do) take it from me, you really need to be as honest as possible about those feelings, or else you are going to lead yourself into many a blind alley in life!!" she wrote.

Scans: long ass 2 month old interview with Rupert for The Sunday Times.

For a full-on ginger, Rupert Grint has almost none of the fiery characteristics associated with the hair colour. He doesn’t get agitated or shout. Nothing seems to bother him. He speaks so quietly you have to lean right in to hear him. Even his laugh is polite. He is wearing a dark pink hoody over a T-shirt that says “Satan’s Waitin’ ” and loose, dark jeans. We sit outside a local Le Pain Quotidien and order cappuccinos. Almost immediately I understand the purpose of his hoody. In the time it takes us to drink our coffees we have more interruptions than I’ve had in a lifetime of celebrity interviews.

Regardless, Miss Dunham looks sensational on the Annie Leibovitz-shot cover. And an inside shot does pay tribute to the curves that she is so fiercely proud of.

Stephen Colbert talks about A-Rod's suspension

Host Greg Gutfield calls out Major League Baseball for suspending Alex Rodriguez, suggests everyone do any drug that makes them better at their job

Stephen Colbert is “as mad as a man who is too angry to finish his similes,” he declared during a special Tuesday show.

Last night’s “Colbert Report” episode was a dedicated “Sport Report” (the “T”‘s are, of course, silent), where the Comedy Central host opined on Alex Rodriguez, the Sochi Olympic Winter Games and Billie Jean King.

First up, Colbert’s favorite athlete, A-Rod, has been suspended for the entirety of the 2014 Major League Baseball season for alleged continued performance-enhancing drug use — and the comedian is not happy about seeing the New York Yankees third baseman benched.

Neither are the hosts of Fox News’ “The Five,” who called out MLB for apparent hypocrisy, saying that the league supports medical marijuana but damns the use of PEDs.

Though Colbert was somewhat more understanding of the difference: “Well of course the MLB supports marijuana use, how else do you get people to pay $18 for a hotdog?” he quipped.

The most passionate member of “The Five” on the subject was Greg Gutfield, who argued that people should do any drug that makes them better at their job.

“I agree,” Colbert replied. “If there is a drug that could make Greg Gutfield do his job better, by God he should do those drugs.” He added, “Please.”

Either way, there is a lesson in this. “Listen to ‘The Five’ kids: Just do drugs,” Colbert concluded

7 (5) Ways American Idol Revolutionized TV

When American Idol returns Wednesday night, you’d half expect Ryan Seacrest to be a zombie leading a chorus of singing corpses. That’s if you believe the litany of obituaries that have been written for the reality TV juggernaut over the past few years, proclaiming the show “dead” because its ratings have fallen about as quickly as its buzz has. (The surge of rival The Voice certainly hasn’t helped Idol’s “not dead yet!” cries.)

But the show hasn’t flatlined yet. The truth is that after 12 seasons, millions of record sold, and an embarrassing number of hours of watercooler conversation later, American Idol is as essential a pop-culture presence as it ever was. Before the new-ish panel of Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., Keith Urban, and Randy Jackson begin critiquing teenagers’ warbling, pitchy renditions of “I Have Nothing” Wednesday night, now is the perfect time to remember that—for all the talk of Idol being “dead”—it’s a show that revolutionized television. And still manages to, occasionally, do so.

Michael Peña In Early Talks For ANT-MAN/Clifton Collins Jr. Has Apparently Joined The Cast

Following yesterday's surprise announcement, the cast of Marvel's Ant-Man is shaping up steadily as the Edgar Wright-directed adaptation gears up for a May production start-date. Now The Wrap and other sources are reporting that Michael Pena, 38, has just entered early negotiations for a role in the film. While there's no word on who the Mexican-American actor will be playing or if he'll have super-abilities, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the studio has been searching for a "tough Latino who has to be ready for a lot of physical play," and they were considering "actors ranging from Javier Bardem to Clifton Collins Jr." Also, Variety adds that the next major role to be cast in Ant-Man is the female lead: "Rashida Jones and Bryce Dallas Howard are names that have been mentioned but as of now no one has been offered the part." What do you think?

Bleeding Cool now claims to have been told that "the female lead of this film is the daughter of the second male lead. In light of the last day’s news, that pretty clearly marks her out as the offspring of Hank Pym." Perhaps, Janet Van Dyne will be Pym's daughter, and she'll link up with Scott Lang before eventually becoming The Wasp...

He does talk fast but it's mind-boggling the amount of knowledge he has. Also, he doesn't underestimate anyone. Billy Bob Thornton says TV has become more sophisticated than movies

Oscar-winner Billy Bob Thornton has become the latest Hollywood star to argue that television now provides a more creative environment for actors to work in than film.

Speaking ahead of his appearance in the forthcoming small-screen remake of the Coen brothers' classic 1996 neo-noir Fargo, Thornton said those in search of sophisticated scripts were increasingly turning to TV. He said cinema was now about churning out action movies, broad comedies and "movies where apparently vampires are all models".

"The entertainment business can pretend all they want, but the movie world has changed drastically, particularly in the last five or six years," said Thornton, who won the best adapted screenplay Oscar for his 1996 film Sling Blade. "If you want to be an actor, get on a really good series in television because there's where it's at."

Chris Pine blasts Russia's anti-gay law

Chris Pine says the U.S. should have done more in the run-up to the Sochi Olympics to protest Russia's anti-gay legislation, which he calls "clearly awful, archaic, hostile nonsense."

"I think we should do more than just send gay Olympians there," the 33-year-old actor said in an interview while promoting his film "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit." ''What's happening there in terms of gay rights or the lack of it is extraordinary and awful."

Pine's character tries to thwart a terror attack on the U.S. that originates in Russia and takes on a powerful Russian tech magnate in his new movie, opening Friday. It's based on the late author Tom Clancy's work but doesn't revolve around the plot of any single book.

The Ryan character, portrayed in previous films by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck, was originally a CIA operative working during the Cold War. The new Ryan faces a different landscape.

"It's not like the Bay of Pigs where nuclear war is going to start at the drop of a hat. At least it's not there," Pine said of current U.S.-Russia relations.

The Russian law on "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations among minors" was signed into law by President Vladimir Putin last year. Originally titled the law on "homosexual propaganda," the bill criminalizes public expression of support for nontraditional relationships.

The U.S. is sending openly gay former Olympic athletes Billie Jean King, Brian Boitano and Caitlin Cahow to the opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympics, which start Feb. 7.

Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Who Inspired Her Pixie Cut

When Jennifer Lawrence chopped off her long locks for a supershort pixie cut, she caused a media storm. But what you may not know is who inspired her new 'do. In an interview with W magazine, the blond beauty revealed how she stays confident about her bold choice. "Whenever I start feeling like a boy, I just tell myself I look like Mia Farrow, and I'm like, 'O.K.,'" Jennifer says.

And as it turns out, back in the day, Mia also made headlines for her übershort tresses. It was long rumored that Vidal Sassoon gave her a pixie cut for the 1968 film "Rosemary's Baby" and that Frank Sinatra, Mia's hubby at the time, was so against the look that he served her with divorce papers after seeing it.

But in a letter to the New York Times last year, the Hollywood legend set the record straight. She said, "I had literally cut it myself earlier that year — with a pair of fingernail scissors." She added, "This was long before I ever heard of Vidal Sassoon. My then-boyfriend, Frank Sinatra, loved the cut, and so I kept it short. (I purchased some hair scissors; then, as now, I cut it myself.)"

Vidal never dispelled the rumor that he cut her hair and took a lot of flak for the cut. The hairstylist told the Hollywood Reporter back in 2011 that Barbara Walters was so shocked by the actress's closely cropped coif that she accused him of "making beautiful women look like boys."

But Mia explains that in truth, Vidal trimmed her 1 1/2-inch hair to 1 inch as part of a publicity stunt for 1968's "Rosemary's Baby" and added, "I intend no disrespect to Mr. Sassoon, but he had nothing to do with my haircut. Neither, I can assure you, did my divorce from Frank Sinatra have to do with my haircut."

Miley Cyrus Debuts Daring New Bowl Cut Hairstyle

She's going for it! Miley Cyrus has donned several daring looks over the past year -- including a pixie, pasties and a closet full of crop tops -- but her latest look is one for the books.

Cyrus, 21, was spotted rocking a new bowl cut on Tuesday, Jan. 14, in Los Angeles. The hairstyle showed off her darker roots underneath, which matched her dark eyebrows. She also sported hot, red lips. But that's not all! The "Wrecking Ball" star took it a step further with black trousers, suspenders, and a white crop top.

Cyrus has recently been rehearsing for her upcoming tour. Last October, the controversial singer excitedly announced the news on Oct. 26 while she stopped by for a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live during Ed Norton's monologue. On Jan. 14 (the same day she debuted her bowl cut) she tweeted: "I can't wait to be on tourrrrrrrrrrr."
