'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' Posts Record Ratings!!

Bravo earned its most-watched night ever in network history last Sunday.

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans showed up in record-breaking droves for Sunday’s episode to see what would happen in the aftermath of the ladies’ Savannah trip. In the process, they stuck around to give new show, “Blood, Sweat and Heels” the network’s biggest series premiere numbers ever.

Sunday’s episode of “Atlanta” scored the highest amount of total viewers and biggest ratings for the series (as well as the entire “Real Housewives” franchise), beating its most-watched episode from Season 3 in January 2011. At 8 p.m., 4.52 total viewers tuned in. Of those, 2.71 million viewers were in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and 2.81 million viewers for the 25-54 demo.

“RHOA” began a night of highs for Bravo. “Blood, Sweat & Heels,” a new series following a group of professional New York women in media, real estate and fashion, banked 2.5 million total viewers and more than 1.4 million in the key 18-49 demo. It was ranked No. 1 among that key demo against all other cable in the 9 p.m. hour.

The season finale for “Thicker Than Water” attracted 2.3 million total viewers and more than 1.2 million in the 18-49 demo. It also ranked No. 1 in the 25-54 demo versus cable competition in the 10 p.m. hour. It ended its season with an averaging more than 1.8 million total viewers.

“RHOA” star Porsha Stewart and singer Josh Groban appeared on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live,” which attracted more than 1.8 million total viewers and 960,000 in the advertiser demo. Stewart addressed her divorce, as well as her ignorant remarks that the Underground Railroad actually utilized a train…

Sunday ended with a new episode of “Fashion Queens” in which they did a 2013 recap extravaganza. It earned a series high of more than 1.5 million total viewers and 802,000 in the 25-54 demo.

Billboard's New Year's Resolution: Stop The "Flop" Talk

It's fashionable to be making ambitious resolutions around this time every year, so here's mine for 2014: I resolve to cease using the word "flop" when it comes to musical projects. That word is ready to be retired, for our collective sanity.

To some extent, we all ride the roller-coaster narrative of pop music. We monitor the various movements of a pop artist's career -- their singles, albums, tours, noteworthy performances and extracurricular activities -- as if their lives were amusement rides, ratcheting up a few clicks at a time, spiraling downward every so often, and only growing dull whenever standing still. The practice of anticipating a spectacular fall from an unsustainable peak feels like a cocktail of danger and excitement... and is followed by the inevitable climb upward that feels equally invigorating. It's a fun ride! But it's also a fake one. The velocity of the storytelling always works against the friction of fact, as we collectively declare that one artist is "flopping" when they're doing no such thing.

Sensationalism swallowed up 2013 in especially disconcerting ways. Justin Bieber, a veteran artist but also a 19-year-old, was perceived to be cratering, thanks to some dizzying tabloid stories from his international tour, the lack of a hit single to follow a handful of Top 10 songs in 2012, and a new documentary, "Believe," that became an also-ran at the box office last month. "The Downfall of Justin Bieber" was a tidy story to tell, and after his pre-adulthood upward trajectory spanned multiple years, some even welcomed, or trumpeted, the thrillingly depicted slide.

'Downton' and 'Sherlock': Can a Brit TV invasion topple American dramas?

With AMC’s The Walking Dead on winter hiatus, the big broadcast networks are finally getting a break on Sunday nights. Everybody will stop talking about that silly cable zombie show and will start focusing on Big 4 programs again — like ABC’s Revenge and CBS’ The Mentalist. Or perhaps the animated hijinks of Fox’s American Dad … right?

Not if chilly Lady Mary has anything to say about it. Downton Abbey‘s season 4 premiere delivered a record-setting 10.8 million viewers Sunday night and a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating. The aristocratic period drama beat every broadcast drama in the demo and out-delivered in total viewers every entertainment show on TV (except for Fox’s The Simpsons, inflated by a lead-in from the biggest NFL wild card game, like, ever).

And Downton will soon import a fellow Brit partner in crime — the third season of ultra-buzzy Sherlock, which gets underway after Downton starting Jan. 19. Though Sherlock had much smaller ratings on PBS than Downton when it last aired two years ago, the bromance detective drama has gained significant pop-culture momentum and fan interest since then (in the UK, both shows recently delivered about the same premiere audience).

BAFTA Nominations 2014

Alfonso Cuarón's "Gravity" led the nominations for 2014 British Academy Film Awards, taking 11 nominations including best picture, best director and best British film (who knew it was eligible for the latter?). Close behind were Steve McQueen's "12 Years a Slave" and David O. Russell's "American Hustle," which each received nine nominations. That trio were joined by Stephen Frears' "Philomena" and Paul Greengrass's "Captain Phillips" in the best film category.

There were certainly some major surprises throughout the nominations. "American Hustle" did remarkably well, with Christian Bale and Amy Adams getting unexpected nods in the lead acting categories, over the likes of Matthew McConaughey ("Dallas Buyers Club") and Robert Redford ("All Is Lost") in best actor and Meryl Streep ("August: Osage County") in best actress.

Those three were probably the three biggest snubs in the acting races, alongside similarly shocking omissions for both Jared Leto ("Dallas Buyers Club") and June Squibb ("Nebraska") in the supporting races. In their places came Matt Damon (for "Behind The Candelabra," ineligible for the Oscars because it aired on TV in the US, but fair game here to the tune of 5 nominations -- makes you wonder how it would have faired with Oscar) and Sally Hawkins ("Blue Jasmine"). Spike Jonze's "Her," meanwhile, was snubbed altogether, while Joel & Ethan Coen's "Inside Llewyn Davis" managed only two nods: best original screenplay and best sound.

Drea de Matteo Upped to Series Regular For Seventh and Final Season

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The events of Sons of Anarchy‘s Season 6 finale pointed to a larger role for Drea de Matteo‘s Wendy moving forward, and now it’s official: The Emmy winner has been promoted to a series regular ahead of the FX hit’s seventh and final season, TVLine has learned exclusively

Jax’s junkie ex/baby momma Wendy has been a consistent presence on SOA throughout much of its run (save for Seasons 2 and 3), but this marks De Matteo’s first stint as a full-fledged SOA regular.

The upgrade comes in the wake of Tara’s (Maggie Siff) grisly death in December’s Season 6 closer, and suggests that Wendy will play a more hands-on role in the life of son Abel (and maybe Thomas, too?).

New 'Muppets: Most Wanted' TV spot pokes fun at Twitter hype

For years there's been a sly way to tell if an upcoming movie is ten shades of awful. It's when a studio uses pull quotes from so-called "quote whores" who proclaim lackluster movies are must-sees or crowd-pleasers, etc. But in the new wave of online social media, there's been an insidious new addition to shady trailer practices, the use of "pull tweets." Can't find enough critics to make a movie look impressive? Search Twitter for fan responses and plaster the ad in those. Well, leave it to The Muppets to call that method out for the nonsense it is.

In the latest trailer for Muppets Most Wanted, Muppets Studio pokes fun at the use of tweets as pull quotes offering up internet speak, goofy handles and loads of hashtags. (#yolo) Shocker: these are real.

"Gender Bigot," "Anti-Semite": Meryl Streep Slams Walt Disney at National Board of Review

The beauty of being an elder stateswoman with a recent Oscar under your belt is that you can let rip on your personal opinions and use the platform as a bully pulpit.

That's just what Meryl Streep did Tuesday night at the National Board of Review when she boldly stepped up to the dais to present Emma Thompson with the Best Actress Award for the Disney movie "Saving Mr. Banks" – and called out studio head Walt Disney (played by Tom Hanks in the movie) for his sexist and anti-Semitic ways.

"Disney, who brought joy arguably to billions of people was, perhaps, or had some racist proclivities. He formed and supported an anti-Semitic industry lobbying group and he was certainly, on the evidence of his company’s policies, a gender bigot," Streep said. She also read a letter written by the company in 1938 to an aspiring female animator that said, "Women do not do any of the creative work in connection with preparing the cartoons for the screen, as that task is performed entirely by young men."

Cara & Mady On Growing Up Gosselin

Kate and Jon's kids – twins Mady and Cara, and sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah – were featured prominently on the now defunct Jon & Kate Plus 8, very little had been heard from the children who lived through the collapse of their parents' marriage and the ensuing media maelstrom.

Until now.

Twins Mady and Cara are speaking out for the first time about their family and what they've been through. Those who think the girls have been harmed in some way by fame – a group which recently seemed to include their own father – are likely to be disappointed.

“People expect us to be damaged,” said Cara, who with her twin sister Mady, turned 13 Oct. 8. “People think we’re supposed to be messed up, like, ‘Oooooh, the poor Gosselin kids, they’re going to be scarred for life, waaaaah’ … here’s the big news: we’re not messed up,” she said.

Kate said during the family’s roughest time, her martial split with their father Jon, her oldest daughters “felt it” and would “react to it.”

“Cara listening, Mady and I talking – it helped the three of us get through the ugliness. Things that happened with my divorce were hurtful, and there were many tears, but we got through it. They really are trying to work with me even now, when they have emotional moments.”

Lil' Kim being sued by Makeup Artist Samantha Ravndahl

A Vancouver-based makeup artist is gearing up to sue multi-platinum American rapper Lil’ Kim for copyright infringement over a “pop art zombie” image.

Samantha Ravndahl, 20, posted a makeup tutorial to social media sites in early October, 2012, demonstrating step-by-step how to create a ghoulish Halloween look.

Within a couple of weeks, one of her Instagram followers told Ms. Ravndahl the image had been posted to the Instagram account of the New York rapper, whose real name is Kimberly Denise Jones.

“I went there and saw that she had posted it with her copyright over it,” Ms. Ravndahl said.

“She didn’t credit me or anything. I thought it was kind of weird and looked into it more. I found all these other places she had been
using this image as promotional album art for her song.”

“She was like, ‘Hey, Lil’ Kim’s sorry. She’s totally fine giving you a shout out,’” Ms. Ravndahl said. “I said, ‘No, I make a living off selling my images. I can’t just give this away.’”

That call was followed by one from the rapper’s manager, Ms. Ravndahl said, who told her the exposure would be great for the young artist. Again, she said, she declined.

“I don’t really want to be associated with Lil’ Kim for the rest of my life,” Ravndahl said.

Busy Philipps: Cricket Left The Hospital With No Name

Once Busy Philipps and her husband Marc Silverstein discovered the sex of their second child, they went to work putting together a long list of baby girl names. But when the actress gave birth to their now 6-month-old daughter, the couple realized they had come up short in the name game.

“Oh my God, it was so hard because we had all these names and then she came out. I looked at her and she just couldn’t be one of those names,” Philipps, 34, tells PEOPLE.

The proud parents took home their new addition and celebrated the Fourth of July — it “bought us some time,” she jokes — but after a week with no name, the hospital came looking for their final decision. “I got a call from Cedars and they said, ‘You have to come back and name your baby,’” Philipps recalls.

Fortunately, with plenty of experience under his belt, it was Silverstein to the rescue. “He’s always coming up with character names for his movies and TV shows,” she says. And when the screenwriter suggested Cricket Pearl, the Cougar Town star instantly envisioned a fun future for her little girl and knew they had found the one.

BBC Sound of 2014: Banks Given Third Place

Described by Vice magazine as "the most plainly obvious pop star you’re ever likely to see," Banks is the stage name of 25-year-old Jillian Banks.

Fusing dark R&B with thunderous electronic grooves, she has collaborated with underground British producers such as Jamie Woon, Lil Silva and Totally Extinct Dinosaurs.

But she hails from LA, where she turned to music to combat a bout of depression, aged 15. Expressing her fear and loneliness through music helped her cope - and she says she wants fans to hear her lyrics and feel they’re not alone.

Her London EP, released by British label Good Years in September, led to a support slot with woozy R&B soulmate The Weeknd, and she has recently been putting the finishing touches to her debut album.

Banks cites Fiona Apple and Lauryn Hill among her influences and can count the likes of Katy Perry, Jessie Ware and Lily Allen as champions of her soulful style.

Zoe Saldana to Star in NBC's 'Rosemary's Baby' Remake

She'll play a distressed wife in the four-hour miniseries based on Ira Levin's 1967 horror novel.

NBC has found its leading lady for Rosemary's Baby.

The four-hour miniseries is based on author Ira Levin's classic 1967 horror novel of the same name, with production set to begin this month in Paris.

Saldana will play Rosemary, the iconic young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a darkly storied past. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child.

“Zoe has proven that she is one of our most gifted actresses and we think she has the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas to take on the title role from Ira Levin’s infamous novel,” said Quinn Taylor, executive vp movies, miniseries and international co-productions at NBC Entertainment. “With Zoe leading the cast under the direction of Agnieszka Holland, this reimagined event miniseries is off to a great start.”

Insane Clown Posse teams up with the ACLU to sue the government

The Insane Clown Posse and four die-hard fans announced a lawsuit against the FBI and Department of Justice Wednesday, saying their constitutional rights were violated when the feds designated their Juggalo devotees a gang.

“It’s time for the FBI to come to its senses and recognize that Juggalos are not a gang but a worldwide family united by the love of music,” said one member of the rap duo, Joseph Bruce, aka Violent J, in a statement released by the Michigan American Civil Liberties Union, which joined the suit.

“There has never been — and will never be — a music fan base quite like Juggalos, and while it is easy to fear what one does not understand, discrimination and bigotry against any group of people is just plain wrong and un-American.”

The Juggalos are known for painting their faces like clowns — just like the hip-hop duo that forms the posse, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope. Their weeklong bacchanal, the Gathering of the Juggalos, is notorious for its blatant drug use and general bad behavior.

Beyoncé and Kelly photobomb a drunk girl (and her friends) in Miami

"Jay Z and Beyonce walked into a Miami karaoke bar..." No, it's not the beginning of a lame bar joke -- it's the beginning of the story of what actually went down at Sing Sing karaoke bar last night, according to the bar's owner.

On the night of baby Blue Ivy's second birthday, says Sing Sing owner Kellie Pilicer, the Carter-Knowles crew rolled up to Sing Sing Karaoke on South Beach in three black SUVs around midnight for an impromptu karaoke session with an entourage that included Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

It was late on a Tuesday night. The bar was empty, so it was the perfect opportunity to do something normal and not be bombarded by paparazzi. At the time Bey and Jay showed up, only two out of the 17 karaoke rooms were occupied.

"A big security-looking guy walked in and asked us what time we closed," said Pilicer. "I'm thinking he's going to come in with maybe a couple of other people and then all of a sudden a couple of people wearing hoodies do start trickling in and one woman comes up and asks me where the bathroom is and I look up and it's freaking Beyonce."

Jay Z was shown to the VIP room and the rest of the group followed behind him. They were friendly, dressed casually, and didn't make any extravagant requests or demands, Pilicer says. Their only request was that they put tape over the security cameras that were installed in the room. They ordered sake, water, and french fries from the joint next door.

Though reports vary, Pilicer says one of the Sing Sing waiters also recognized one of the guests to be Timbaland.

Early on, Beyonce asked Pilicer where the other two occupied rooms were, and she assured her that they wouldn't be a bother to her. Instead, Queen B insisted that she wanted to go into one of the other rooms. The room in particular was occupied by a group of three girls who were purportedly there for six hours, drinking Miami Long Islands, and singing the night away.

Beyonce and Kelly followed the sounds and walked into the girl's karaoke room. Lo and behold, the song that the unidentified girls were singing was one of Beyonce's very own, "Party."

"There's no way we could have planned it. No one had any idea. I didn't even know anything," said Pilicer.

Margot Robbie Lied About Her 'Wolf of Wall Street' Sex Scene and Nudity

The sultry star of The Wolf of Wall Street, Margot Robbie, admitted on Jimmy Kimmel Live that she recently told her parents a big fat lie. The fib in question has to do with her many not-so PG scenes in the Martin Scorsese flick, The Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill. In the film, Robbie plays a Brooklyn native who seduces the film’s protagonist. But for her role, Robbie strips down for a sex scene.

“I just flat-out lied to my family for a really long time and I said, ‘I don’t care what you hear; there’s no nudity; I’m not doing any nudity. Ignore anything anyone’s saying; there’s no nudity,’” she said. But then, upon realizing her family would see the film and realize that there is indeed nudity, she switched her explaination: “I changed that to ‘It’s actually a body double and they just CGI’d my head onto someone else.’ And my family doesn’t have anything to do with the entertainment industry … and they were like, ‘They can do that? And I was like, ‘Oh, technology these days. You wouldn’t believe what they do in Hollywood!’”

But in the end, the Australian actress decided to come clean all together. “And then eventually I came clean: ‘I’m doing nudity, but you should read the book first, and if you still want to see the movie after reading the book …’” she said.

Watch a clip from her appearance on Kimmel below:

Miley Cyrus is the new facce of Marc Jacobs!

Stop whatever you're doing and listen up! Or look up, because the new face of Marc Jacobs is Miley Cyrus!

Based on the Marc Jacobs spring '14 show modeling lineup that included Sky Ferreira, Georgia May Jagger, and Charlotte Free, we could have guessed that the brand's campaign would feature a big star, but we're more than thrilled that it's Miley Cyrus. Cyrus and Jacobs have been besties for a long time--she wore a fishnet dress by the designer to the Met Gala in 2013 and can currently be spotted nude on a Jacobs approved T-shirt supporting the NYU Skin Cancer Institute--so it was really only a matter of time before she starred in one of the designer's ads.

The backdrop for Cyrus' modeling turn is a dark, sandy beach, similar to the scene at Marc Jacobs spring '14. Cyrus is shown wearing a navy jacket with black embellishment, burgundy shorts, and black sneakers with white floral embroidery chilling with two other models. But while the ad's ambiance may allude to the show vibes, instead of the blunt bowl cuts models rocked on the runway, Cyrus and the models have natural, semi-wet hair and luminous, glowing makeup. Even non-Cyrus fans will agree she looks pretty darn amazing.

Cyrus is the latest in a long list of super-cool It Girls who have posed for Jacobs, including indie darlings (Meg White, Helena Bonham-Carter, and Jennifer Jason Leigh) and big-name celebrities (Dakota Fanning, Victoria Beckham, and Sofia Coppola) alike. So does this mark (no pun intended) the final stage in Cyrus' transformation from tween star to full-blown fashion muse? We think yes, but you can tell us your opinion on Twitter and Facebook.

P.S. The ads are appearing in the February issues of magazines already on newsstands now, so you can tear these out and tape them to your walls ASAP.

Dennis Rodman sings 'Happy Birthday' to Kim Jong Un before his team loses to NK national team

Courting yet more controversy, Dennis Rodman on Wednesday led a singalong of "Happy Birthday" to the leader of North Korea, a man he calls a friend and a "very good guy," but considered by many a brutal dictator who recently lauded the execution of his own uncle.

Images released by The Associated Press also show Rodman appearing to bow to Kim Jong Un at Pyongyang Indoor Stadium, the site of a basketball exhibition Wednesday -- Kim's birthday -- between a North Korean team and Rodman's squad of former NBA players and others.

"It was, as you might imagine, a bizarre and unusual occasion that won't easily be forgotten," Simon Cokerell, general manager of Koryo Tours, said in a YouTube video posted after he accompanied tourists to watch the match.

Even before Wednesday's spectacle -- in which his team lost to a North Korean squad 47-39, according to North Korean state media -- Rodman's visit to North Korea had already generated enormous controversy.

Emma Thompson calls for more actresses to be cast in male roles

After an all-female version of Julius Caesar — with Frances Barber in the title role — was staged in London last year, Emma Thompson says that “gender-blind” casting is the way ahead as it affords new ways of looking at the classics.

“Is the heroic role unisex?” ruminates the 54-year-old Oscar-winning actress. “Or does it mean there is an area of life which remains unexplored, which contains stories which remain untold? I suspect that’s the case and it will be very interesting as this generation gets into its stride to see what those stories turn out to be.”

Although the idea is unlikely to appeal to the purists, Miss Thompson has already spoken of her ambition to play Sherlock Holmes. “I have always been a huge Sherlock Holmes fan,” the star of Saving Mr Banks has noted. “I would love to play a character like that, but that’s a problem if you’re a female. I’m always likely to be overlooked for not being male.” Miss Thompson has often spoken about the “bother” of having to conform to male expectations of women by making herself look glamorous when she goes out. “Having to look pretty, that’s what I mind, because it is so much more of an effort.”

Shocker: David Cronenberg's "Maps To The Stars" Rated R For Violence, Sex, Nudity & Drugs

In their weekly update of recently announced MPAA ratnigs, Rope Of Silicon reveal that "Maps To The Stars" has shockingly been given an R-rating for strong disturbing violence and sexual content, graphic nudity, language and some drug material." In a Cronenberg movie? No way!

Starring John Cusack, Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, Robert Pattinson, Olivia Williams and Sarah Gadon, the Bruce Wagner penned movie is vicious look at a twisted Hollywood dynasty, in what is said to be a satire/takedown of the industry. Here's the official synopsis:

The Weiss family is the archetypical Hollywood dynasty: father Sanford is an analyst and coach, who has made a fortune with his self-help manuals; mother Christina mostly looks after the career of their son Benjie, 13, a child star.

One of Sanford's clients, Havana, is an actress who dreams of shooting a remake of the movie that made her mother, Clarice, a star in the '60s. Clarice is dead now and visions of her come to haunt Havana at night. Adding to the toxic mix, Benjie has just come off a rehab program he joined when he was 9 and his sister, Agatha, has recently been released from a sanatorium where she was treated for criminal pyromania...

There's no U.S. distributor or dates for this one yet, but it's still early in 2014 and all of that will eventually shape up. Either way, you underage RPatz fans will have to find an adult to bring you or buy you a ticket.

So freakin' excited for this movie.

Doctor Who writers give Capaldi and Coleman ''spiky relationship'' as he begins as new Time Lord

Peter Capaldi started work as the new Doctor Who yesterday (Tuesday) and has an unlikely first battle – against his own companion Clara.

The 55-year-old Thick Of It actor was on set yesterday to begin his first full episode as the Time Lord after Matt Smith regenerated into Capaldi at Christmas.

Capaldi’s first scenes were for an opening episode set in Victorian times. And the Mirror can reveal that as well as his usual enemies he will have to win over his sidekick Clara, who posed with him in an official photo yesterday.

Bosses are writing into the storyline that Clara, played by Jenna Coleman, misses the old Doctor Who played by Matt and she and Capaldi have a “spiky relationship” in the opening episodes.

The Ultimate Guide to Animated Mockbusters

Disney’s recent trademark lawsuit against Phase 4 Films and their movie Frozen Land has reignited discussion about ‘mockbusters,’ the portmanteau used to describe a genre of home video that is dedicated to tricking customers into mistakenly purchasing a low-budget imitation of a popular movie. As certain as the dawn, animation companies release these knock-offs to capitalize on the popularity of major studio releases. Mockbusters typically favor public domain content (like fairy tales), but also include questionable copies of another studio’s original characters, or deceptively repackaging an existing animated film with a trendy new cover and title.

Need some examples? No problem, because we’ve compiled the most comprehensive list of animation mockbusters the Internet has to offer. There might be others.

Oscar Isaac Q&A: The 'Inside Llewyn Davis' Star on Finding Folk Music, the Coen Brothers

Of all the films in contention for the Academy Awards, none is pushing its musical element stronger than CBS Films' "Inside Llewyn Davis." Commercials for the Coen brothers' tale of a fictional folk singer knocking around Greenwich Village in 1961 have focused on executive music producer T Bone Burnett, the inspiration found in the cover of Bob Dylan's "Freewheelin'" and the music performed by the film's star Oscar Isaac, Marcus Mumford and others.

Isaac, in his first starring role, portrays Davis, whose musical style is based on folk legend Dave Van Ronk. It helped that he had been in bands prior to getting the role, but he tells Billboard he had never ventured into folk music prior to the film.

"I grew up listening to Dylan but I didn't know this particular kind of music," he tells Billboard. "So I had to find my way in."

He discussed the role, the Coen brothers and his entry points into the folk music that came before "Blowin' in the Wind."

Taylor Kinney visits Washington Boro family / Chicago Fire Post

Fifteen-year-old Ian Swarr loves all things firefighting. So on Friday, when Ian had a special visitor who plays a firefighter on TV, he was pretty excited.
Lancaster Mennonite High School graduate Taylor Kinney, now a star on NBC's hit TV show, "Chicago Fire," stopped by the Swarr family's Washington Boro home to visit with Ian.

Ian, who suffers from epidermolysis bullosa, a rare skin disorder which causes his skin to blister, is also battling stage four liver failure and is too high-risk for a liver transplant, according to his mom, Delicia Swarr-Bolin. Swarr-Bolin said Ian is in stable condition and has been quiet in recent months. But when he learned that a star from the TV show he watches was coming to visit him, "His eyes were just huge," and he would not stop smiling and talking about it, Swarr-Bolin said.

The visit was set up by family friends who know Kinney, Swarr-Bolin explained."When he came in, he was just an every day guy," Swarr-Bolin said. "He came in and introduced himself and sat down on the couch like we knew him forever. It was just such an awesome time and I don't think any of us have stopped smiling." Ian called the experience "awesome" and said he asked Kinney how the show is made. "It was cool," Ian said. "He's a pretty good guy and it was really fun to see him come to my house."

Kinney brought an NBC "Chicago Fire" draw string bag for Ian and signed a couple of fire helmets from Ian's collection. Swarr-Bolin said Kinney mentioned he would also be sending "a box of late Christmas presents." "This was something absolutely so special for him and something our family can always remember," Swarr-Bolin said.

It's a wall of gay British text! With Russell Tovey! (and Tom Daley too!)

Russell Tovey, one of Britain’s few openly gay actors, has made a career of playing a loveable heterosexual bloke. He was waiting for a role that would move the sexuality conversation forward — and now he’s found two.

I’m calling it the sporty Hamlet,” actor Russell Tovey tells me with a wink when I meet him in a draughty scout hut in Pimlico where he is rehearsing the Royal Court’s new play, The Pass, about a gay celebrity footballer.

Collapse )

For Tovey the theme is very current, “because now Tom Daley has come out, a sportsman at the top of his game. And yet there are no footballers who have come out, and the ones who do end up as tragedy stories. Robbie Rogers left the game, Justin Fashanu killed himself. There’s a rumour that a major sporting brand has had a six-figure sponsorship deal on the table for the past five years for the first Premiership footballer to come out and no one’s taken it.”

Sexuality threatens the camaraderie between sportsman, he suggests. “It’s easier for Tom Daley because he’s a solo diver. What if you’re part of a rugby club on tour — touching each other’s dicks? They do very homoerotic acts, all fine because they’re straight — then they suddenly find out someone is gay? It becomes ‘Hang on a bit, we shouldn’t be doing this, you might be enjoying it’.”

He knows Daley and was very impressed by the way he took control and made a coming-out video just before Christmas. “That was what was so brilliant about what he did — the video was very casual, not even beautifully lit, just him lying on his bed going, ‘Oh fuck it, now’s the time. Yes, guys, here it is. Done. Gone. Sending it out there; see what happens’ …

“I messaged him and said, ‘I’m proud of you, it’s brilliant what you’ve done, mate’. He just said, ‘Thanks’. He’s really sweet. I feel slightly protective of him but I don’t want to patronise anyone. I can say, ‘If you ever need help’... and put it out there, but he’s beyond me. If there was a younger actor wondering whether to come out, I’d advise them, definitely.”

During adolescence, Tovey’s homosexuality caused friction within his family. They were terrified he’d contract HIV, live a miserable, sad life. It was a generational thing, he says. But the birth of his two nephews helped to mend their relationship.

Tovey has been with his boyfriend for four years. They live together, are very happy, and that’s all he wants to say because it’s private.

He is touchingly protective of female co-stars filming sex scenes, and he clearly adores Sarah Solemani, his co-star in the BBC sitcom Him & Her, who has broken many body taboos on screen.

“She’s more masculine in her demeanour than my character Steve is,” he laughs. “He’s like the slightly paranoid girlfriend checking phones, which I think pleased the feminists.”
No one on ontd is going to know what Him & Her is, so here's a clip from it.

Collapse )

But with Looking the whole issue of kissing and slow-dancing became more complicated. “The guy playing my boyfriend is a straight actor and for the first time in my career I felt a responsibility to him, to make sure he didn’t feel I was taking advantage.”

Director Andrew Haigh had seen Tovey on stage as a psychotic Iraqi soldier, and asked him to audition for the lead. Tovey lost the part to Jonathan Groff, but the role of Kevin was then written for him.

His character is an English video game whiz-kid. “I wanted to play American but they wanted the whole One Direction, Downton Abbey vibe, because Brits are cool.”

Kelly Osbourne, Matthew Mosshart End Engagement: "The Split Is Amicable"

Bittersweet New Year. After two years together, TV personality Kelly Osbourne and vegan chef Matthew Mosshart have ended their engagement, Osbourne's rep tells Us Weekly exclusively.

"Kelly Osbourne and Matthew Mosshart have decided to end their engagement," says the rep in a statement. "The split is amicable and the pair continue to have nothing but the utmost respect for one another. Kelly is looking forward to a new year full of fresh beginnings. No further comments will be provided by all parties and we request privacy, decorum and space from the press but don't expect it."

The couple met in the summer of 2011 at Kate Moss's wedding before stepping out as a couple that December. They confirmed their engagement in July 2013 in a romantic Anguilla proposal.

At the time, Osbourne, 29, told Us of Mosshart, "I've never felt this close to another human being, ever. People say we're co-dependent, but we just want to be together all the time."

The Fashion Police star hasn't directly spoken out about the breakup on social media, but on Jan. 8 she tweeted, "its all about perception sometimes the bad things that happen in life aren't really bad at all especially when you learn something from it!"

The couple was last spotted out together on Dec. 12 at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Hollywood.

'Real World' boss Jon Murray talks keeping the aging show relevant

For just over two decades, Jon Murray has been watching strangers get real on MTV's pioneering series "The Real World."

After 21 years on the air, the still-breathing reality show gets a shake-up for its San Francisco-set 29th season, which launches Wednesday night.
Sure, there are still seven strangers who stop being polite. But things get ultra-dramatic when they go away for a day trip four weeks into production and return to find their exes have moved into the house — hence, the pun-tastic name: "The Real World: Ex-Plosion!"

Visually, the show also looks different, with quicker pacing and some heavy transitions. And the usually forbidden gadget — the phone — is being allowed in, and there's a closed social-media site that only select members of the cast's entourage had access to (the content will gradually be rolled out for public consumption as the show airs).

Cate Blanchett: Australians "don't pay attention to social class"

Cate Blanchett reveals in Vogue Australia February 2014 that she isn’t worried about the aging process.

The Aussie actress says she’s not scared of growing old: “Should I be? What for? Who would want a face that hasn’t seen or lived properly, hasn’t got any wrinkles that come with age, experience and laughter?” she told Vogue Australia. “Not me, anyway. We’re all traveling in the same direction.”

Care also discussed her sons Roman, Ignatius and Dashiell: "They are magnificent boys… If they know how to cut wood, light a fire, ride horses and will always help an old lady cross the road, then we won’t have done too badly as parents,” she said.

On Australia: "I don’t think Australians are any less pretentious than other people. But it’s true that we’re generally good company and we don’t pay attention to social class.”

'Doctor Who': Our hopes for Peter Capaldi's era (I know, I know, another Doctor Who Post)

Steven Moffat said recently: "If Russell [T Davies] had stayed on, [Doctor Who] would still have changed. I remember when we had our handover chat, he was saying ‘so what are you going to do, are you going to change that?’ and I said ‘well, what would you change?’ and we both agreed ‘it’s time to kick a lot of stuff out’. And actually, it is time again to do that... So now we’ve got to actually get a bit raw at it and do it in a different direction."

What are the things that Moffat and co have got a bit too good at? What do we now expect from a Doctor Who story? What is it time to lose?

So, here’s a look at what has become a bit too expected over the last couple of years - and what might get junked as Peter Capaldi takes the TARDIS helm...

Archer's next season: One big wtf.

In a new interview with Uproxx, Archer Executive Producer Matt Thompson dropped the bombshell that FX’s twisted super-spy comedy will cease to be about super-spies this year, carrying the same characters and relationships over into…cocaine trafficking.
Thompson told the site that the change came about because writer Adam Reed felt as though the show was getting repetitive, and wanted to freshen it up.

“Our ratings have gone up every year. FX is really happy with us. And so you have a show that is successful and/or becoming more successful and we decided to change everything because we were bored and because we just want to make the show that makes us interested and happy in the end,” Thompson said. “And when we presented FX with this idea we were like, ‘I hope you don’t hate us but we want to change everything.’ And they were coolly like, ‘OK great. Sounds awesome.’ And we’re like, ‘OK,’ which kind of weirded us out because you know you don’t just like change a show in the middle of it.”
So, how does the whole drug dealer part figure into the ongoing story of ISIS, the little spy agency that mostly couldn’t?

Do we LOVE it?

Justin and Selena - Cushy Campers

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez roughed it in the wild over the weekend ... and by roughing it we mean their accommodations weren't quite as nice as the Four Seasons.

The couple that decided love can really work the 11th time around went "camping" near the beach in Santa Cruz, CA ... in an uber-luxury RV at the upscale KOA Kampgrounds.

The kids had a chaperone of sorts ... Justin's dad, with bodyguards in tow.

The price was sure right to park the Prevost RV -- $65 a night.  BTW ... the RV -- which retails for anywhere between $1.5 - $2.5 mil -- is owned by Chris Brown and it has a big master bedroom, a kitchen, living room and, of course, lots of video games.

JB and Selena spent the day jumping on the camp's trampoline and tooling around on Segways ... in other words, their feet never touched dirt.

Best part ... after they left campers found pieces of Segways.

At least they didn't go off the cliff.
