Vince Gilligan Wants Jonathan Banks, Aaron Paul for 'Better Call Saul'

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan hopes he'll be able to get Jonathan Banks to reprise his role as the stoic fixer Mike Ehrmantraut on the hit show's upcoming spin-off, Better Call Saul. The new show will center around Saul Goodman, the shady criminal lawyer played by Bob Odenkirk, and in a recent interview with EW, Gilligan mentioned Mike as a perfect fit for the show: "That would be a great deal of fun," he said. "I would say the sky’s the limit, at least theoretically speaking."

Realistically though, as Gilligan pointed out, getting Banks – or any other character from the Breaking Bad universe – to return for an extended stint on Better Call Saul might prove difficult considering the cast's increased profiles and busier schedules now that Breaking Bad has ended.

"They’re off making big movies and doing Broadway plays and whatnot, and that’s exactly the way it should be," Gilligan said. "That is a high-class problem that we will have to contend with as we go forward with Better Call Saul, if we do indeed want to touch base with some of these characters."

Random Couple Alert! Wayne Brady is Dating Chili from TLC

No scrub here! Wayne Brady is dating TLC's Chilli, Us Weekly can exclusively confirm. The relationship is fairly new, but the couple has already shown their affection for each other in public. On Friday night, the two were spotted holding hands while the comedian supported the singer during a TLC concert at the MGM in Las Vegas.

"They were so cute, stopping to take pictures with fans," an eyewitness tells Us of the night out. "He kept her close to him the whole time." Mid-show, Chilli (real name: Rozonda Thomas) also gave the Emmy-award winning star a shout-out during the set and brought him on stage. (Chilli and Lil Mama performed for a private party MGM threw for their employees.)

It has only been two weeks but they really like each other," a source adds. "They've been friends for years but there has always been this flirtation. Both of them had a hard time being single, so they love dating a friend and someone in the business. They make a really great couple."

As it turns out, the pair have given love a shot before. Brady, 41, and Chilli, 42, dated briefly a year ago but put things on hold after only a few weeks due to their busy schedules.

The Whose Line Is It Anyway star -- who's also a regular guest star on How I Met Your Mother -- was previously married to Diana Lasso for two years until their split in 1995. He also was married to Mandie Taketa from 1999 to 2008, with whom he has 10-year-old daughter Maile. Chilli split from Usher in 2004 after three years together.

O.J. Simpson Has Brain Cancer, Begs Obama For Release

O.J. Simpson has reportedly asked President Obama to set him free so he can treat his life-threatening brain cancer outside prison.

In a story not published online but cited by various outlets including the Telegraph, the National Enquirer reports that Simpson is taking desperate measures to secure clemency after undergoing tests on a brain tumor.

The magazine quotes "a source close to" Simpson who said, "He put off the doctors for weeks after he first started experiencing the symptoms because he was afraid of what they would find."

The 66-year-old has been in a Nevada prison since 2008, serving a 33-year sentence for assault, robbery and kidnapping.

The Washington Times reports that Simpson's health has been deteriorating for years. "He’s gained weight since his imprisonment, and also suffers from blurred vision, stuttering and failing hearing," according to the paper.

The Enquirer has sounded the alarm about Simpson's medical issues before. Six months ago, the magazine reported that the former football star had a severe case of diabetes.

Simpson was found not guilty of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman on October 3, 1995.

Hello Mr. and Mrs. Sweeting! After ringing in the New Year as a married woman, Kaley Cuoco was happy to flaunt her giantic new wedding ring at the Jan. 3 L.A. Lakers game with her new hubby Ryan Sweeting. The couple sat courtside as they rooted for the California basketball team.

Drew Barrymore talks about her mom and more in the February issue of Marie Claire

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Drew Barrymore didn't just find love with Will Kopelman. She found the happy extended family she'd been craving – and missing – her whole life.

"I didn't think I would ever get to experience that," the actress, 38, tells Marie Claire's February issue, on newsstands Jan. 14, of marrying into the Kopelman family.

"This is so safe and positive and healthy because they have their values intact," she says. "It was huge for me. And that's what I want for my family."

Drew's troubles with her own famous family are well documented. Her father, the actor John Barrymore, who died in 2004, was largely absent from her life. And she and her mother Jaid have always had a difficult relationship – and spend very little time together these days.

"When I was a kid, everything was so unplanned, my parents were so erratic, and my world was so inconsistent," Drew says. "I hated growing up alone. I hated it … I don't f––– anyone over. My friends are the loves my life."

On the subject of Jaid, 67, Drew is clearly anguished.

"Ugh, I mean, my relationship with my mom is so complicated that … I've always been empathetic toward my mom, and I was even more so when I had a kid and we had a really amazing conversation about it," she says. "However, it hasn't enabled me to lessen the distance. It's the hardest subject in my life. I've never just been angry with her. I've always felt guilt and empathy and utter sensitivity. But we can't really be in each other's lives at this point."

Ay Dios Mio! 'Fifty Shades' won't be a trilogy after all?

Bad news for “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans-- multiple rumored reports indicated Sunday that the E.L. James book trilogy of the same name is being condensed into one film adaptation instead of three separate feature films.

According to a report rom the Agencia EFE via the Global Post, the decision to make the popular erotica series into one movie was recently confirmed by producers of the highly-anticipated film. “James’s trilogy will be condensed into just one film, the production company said in a recent statement,” reads the report.

Stevie Nicks to Katy Perry: "You Have No Rival"

By now the world knows about the blossoming friendship between Katy Perry and Stevie Nicks.

Last week, during a Fleetwood Mac concert, the lead singer dedicated the band’s classic song “Landslide” to Perry and her boyfriend John Mayer, who were in the audience.

Recently Nicks opened up to ABC News Radio about first meeting the younger singer and the advice she gave her about navigating pop stardom in this day and age.

The connection between Nicks and Perry goes back to 2011, when the rock legend provided the narration for Perry’s video “The One that Got Away.” But the two only actually met for the first time this past fall, when they were both in London for performances.

I met her after her rehearsal at 11:30 [at the hotel],” Nicks told ABC News Radio. “I thought it was going to be a 20 minute, ‘Hey, how are you doing?’ thing — and we sat for three hours until, like, three in the morning. And we pretty much talked about everything.

What Nicks found most interesting, though, was when Perry asked her about her solo career, which started in 1981 with the release of the album Bella Donna.

“She said to me, ‘So when you did Bella Dona who were your rivals?’” Nicks told ABC News Radio. “And I was, like, speechless. I was, like, ‘I didn’t have any rivals.’ And she said, ‘Really? None?’ I said, ‘No…the girls in Heart [were] friends. Pat Benatar [was a] friend.

When Nicks asked Perry if she had rivals, the pop star replied, “Well, it’s not us. It’s the Internet.”
She then told Nicks about the way that fans of various female pop stars will sometimes pit one against the other in ways the singers themselves don’t condone.

“I said to her, ‘Katy, let me tell you something. You don’t have any rivals. So forget that. Never say that word again,’” Nicks told ABC News Radio. “‘You don’t have rivals. All of those girls? Friends. You’ll probably work with all of them at some point. Friends.’”

Bless the wisdom of Stevie Nicks.

The show is a collaborative effort between the “Don Jon” director’s HitRecord.com community that began building up its following after being launched in 2010. The first of eight episodes features the work of 426 contributing artists, all of whom are paid for their participation.

Each episode revolves around a particular theme and is filmed in front of a live audience, who are all recording the experience themselves. In honor of the series’ debut, the first episode’s theme is “The Number One.”

Here is what the 38-year-old actress, named the Woman of the Year, had to share with the mag:

On receiving Maxim‘s big honor: “It’s especially awesome after how long it’s been since my first cover. I’ve had a beautiful relationship with Maxim over all these years.”

On rescheduling this interview to present her thesis: “Yeah, I’m getting my master’s degree. I was like, ‘My brain can’t jump that fast from a Maxim interview to a thesis!’ Back in high school I really was the chameleon, too. I got along with the honors math club, then I would go to cheerleading practice, and then I was a band geek as well.”

On her guilty pleasure that helps her unwind: “Cooking. One thing people are usually surprised about when they get to know me is how domestic I am. So when you see the sexy Maxim cover and then you put it against me in an apron with î our in my hair, it takes a moment to reconcile that image.”

When Roberts got the jump on Streep

We’re laughing. The Oscar-winning actress is packing serious movie-star wattage and a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in one of the most demanding roles she’s ever played, opposite some of the finest actors in the business, in “August: Osage County,” which opens in the Boston area on Friday. The movie is based on Tracy Letts’s Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning play of the same name, about an ultra dysfunctional Midwestern clan that gathers at the homestead due to a family crisis. Roberts plays the angry, frustrated eldest of three daughters to Meryl Streep’s drug-addled mother.

“I had seen the play, and it was a knockout,” Roberts says. And I got the call about the play being turned into a movie and Meryl Streep playing the mother. I mean, what’s not to be totally like, ‘What? Yes.’ ” She laughs, recalling her eagerness. “ ‘I’ll do it. I mean, you want me to read it? OK, I’ll read it. I’ll do it.’ ”

The radiant 46-year-old superstar is sitting before me in an elegant New York hotel suite wearing black leather pants, killer high heels, and large dark-rimmed glasses, her hair long and voluptuously waved. I haven’t interviewed Roberts in years and am taken aback by the blast of warmth and energy. She has at times been abrupt, impatient with the whole dehumanizing process of running reporters on junkets through hotel rooms. The smile is still blinding, but I can see clearly there’s a change in the air. Roberts seems both softer and sharper — in person and on screen.

Fergie confirms she's working on a new solo album

Fergie‘s back!

Yes, eight years after rocking many a music loving world with ‘The Dutchess’, the ‘Velvet’ star has announced the birth of its follow up, doing so during an interview with ‘On Air With Ryan Seacrest.’

While saying little of its sound or release date, the star did confirm it would drop via Interscope Records and would precede the arrival of a brand spanking new ‘Black Eyed Peas’ project.

With the bulk of ‘today’s generation’ unaware of just how influential Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado and Fergie were in 2006, we can’t but celebrate the return of the 'London Bridge’ belle!

With that being said, we do worry that a Will.i.am produced release may see her venture towards EDM territory. Unfortunate, considering how much the world would welcome a vocal driven Fergie album, filled to the brim with the cuts that boast the same genius as ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ and ‘Losing My Ground.’

No thank you to new Black Eyed Peas/Will.i.am producing but YAAASSS to the return of this flawless pop queen.

'Downton Abbey' premiere biggest drama ratings in PBS history

The rumblings from the UK fans and U.S. critics had braced us: Downton Abbey season 4 gets off to a slooow start.

But there’s nothing slow about last night’s ratings! Sunday’s two-hour U.S. return of the crunchy-gravel drama on PBS Masterpiece delivered a whopping 10.2 million viewers, up 22 percent from last year’s debut. This marks the highest-rated drama premiere in PBS history.

“As this captivating drama continues, our audiences have been eagerly awaiting this new season to see what’s next for these beloved characters,” said PBS president and CEO Paula Kerger. “I’m so pleased that millions of viewers have returned to Downton Abbey on their local PBS stations for what has become a post-holiday tradition.”

I hope those 10.2 million watchers included all the Emmy voters because Dockers needs to get her due!
And honestly, series 4 is pretty great, so I'm glad to see that the show's popularity has only increased here in the US.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor: 'I wouldn't want to thrust myself in people's faces like Lady Gaga'

Sophie-Ellis-Bextor has spoken out on her concerns that there is too much pressure on women to display their sexuality.

Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph, Bextor said that she was glad she had sons rather than daughters because of the incessant need in popular culture for women to be overtly sexual. "Girls are encouraged to put their sexuality out there as an empowering thing," she said, "but that can also put you on the back foot. It would be a really sensitive issue if you have a girl that's anywhere from about eight to 18."

"I wouldn't want to thrust myself in people's faces like Lady Gaga," she added. "I loved her theatricality initially, but four years on, it looks exhausting and she looks exhausted. You know, she's clomping around in heel-less shoes and a meat dress, then Adele comes along and sells billions of records without doing any of that stuff. I just think the only thing you can do is find your own niche and do what works for you."

Liza Minnelli says she'll give Matthew McConaughey her Oscar if he doesn't win for DBC

Focus Features threw a Peggy Siegal-coordinated luncheon for East Coast Academy members at New York City's Monkey Bar restaurant to celebrate its primary Oscar contender, Dallas Buyers Club, and its stars Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, who were in attendance.

The gathering was hosted by legendary Oscar winner Liza Minnelli, who welcomed guests -- including voters from across the branches of the Academy, among them actress Dana Ivey, animator Jimmy Picker, writer Alfred Uhry, publicist Susan Senk and producer/former Focus chief James Schamus -- with a rousing endorsement of the film. Noting that she has "nothing to do with this film except that I am a fan," she cheered its performances and generated considerable applause when she told McConaughey, "Honey, if you don't win the Academy Award, I'm giving you mine!"

Minnelli: "I have nothing to do with this film except that I am a fan of how it was done, of the insight and the way they played these characters. And the fact that you were watching something that wasn't necessarily comfortable but you could not stop watching. It drew you in, whether you wanted it to or not, and that's magic. That's magic. I mean, the last one [that did that for me] was On the Waterfront! [laughs] You, crazy Matthew, losing all of that weight [pats her stomach] -- it's one thing to lose all of that weight and to look like that -- that's harrowing enough -- but then to run like you did, with a body like that? And Jared, I mean, everything that you did -- all of the placements, every single second -- I felt wonderful for you, proud of you and sorry for you all at the same time, which I think one only feels for your friends.

"And Jennifer [Garner] was great -- she was just f---ing great! [laughs] I don't know what else to say. I haven't seen a movie like that in so long, and I'm so proud to be able to tell everybody. And honey [addressing McConaughey], if you don't win the Academy Award, I'm giving you mine!"

While other rock groups of their generation have morphed into more electronic or synthesised sound - following the dance-floor trends of the day - Arctic Monkeys have gone the other way, with more distorted guitar, powerful bass lines and Matt Helders’ signature percussion. They have consolidated their formula on their latest album - which ranges from ballads to psychedelic themes - and returned to the top of the British charts.

MMA Fighter Joe Torrez -- FIGHTS OFF 4 HOME INVADERS ... Kills One, Injures Another.

An MMA fighter from New Mexico is being hailed as a hero after fighting off 4 men who tried to break into his home ... killing one of the bad guys in the process.

According to police, the 4 men went looking for 27-year-old lightweight Joe Torrez on New Year's Day after an altercation on New Year's Eve.

When the men arrived to Joe's home, Torrez was inside with his fiancee, son and his fiancee’s sister.

According to cops, the guys tried to force their way inside the home ... so Torrez unleashed the fury.

Cops say ... someone in the house called 911 and when authorities arrived, they found one of the men suffering from multiple stab wounds to the torso and blunt force trauma to the head. The man died at the scene.

Another one of the bad guys was transported to a nearby hospital with "severe facial injuries."

The other 2 men arrested a short time later and all 3 survivors are facing a whole bunch of charges including aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit aggravated battery and criminal damage to property.

FYI -- Torrez is a 155-pound lightweight fighter with a record of one win and five losses.

Officials say he could face criminal charges in the death of one of the invaders ... but so far, that has not happened.

Wow good for him tbh. I feel like if someone breaks into your house you have the right to do whatever to protect your family. I read in another article that according to the police report the ring leader called Torrez right before they showed up and threatened to kill his whole family.

Your thoughts on his actions/if he gets criminal charges for killing the home invader ONTD?

Ask any V.C. Andrews fan about the 1987 film adaptation of Flowers in the Attic and she’ll probably tell you that it’s all wrong. The film soft-pedaled the novel’s incest, altered the ending, and screwed up most of the details (it was arsenic-laced doughnuts, not sugar cookies). They didn’t even include the tar incident. What a relief that the upcoming Lifetime TV movie adaptation promises to be faithful to all the dark and sordid details of the novel. After all, many of us have been waiting three decades to climb up the stairs to the attic with Cathy again.

Flowers in the Attic, a novel about four children who are locked up and mistreated in their rich grandparents’ mansion while their conniving mother tries to win an inheritance, was published as adult fiction in 1979, and it was as adult fiction that it hit the New York Times best-seller list within weeks, despite the fact that nobody had ever heard of V.C. Andrews. But reading Flowers in the Attic quickly became a rite of passage for teenage girls in the 1980s. Copies of the book and its sequels were passed from girl to girl, as if we could peer through the novels’ foil-embossed keyhole covers to the powerful secrets within. For many of us, Flowers in the Attic was the start of a love affair with V. C. Andrews that lasted throughout our teens, until it was replaced, somewhere around our first college lit class, by a sense of mild embarrassment. Oh, it was a phase, we told ourselves.

And yet, as all the buzz about the Lifetime adaptation reveals, we are clearly not over Flowers in the Attic. For women of my generation, Cathy Dollanganger’s story continues to possess a weird, singular power. It’s also an elusive one, and most of us have a difficult time articulating why Cathy’s story embedded itself into our imaginations, and why we’re so excited to revisit it now.

Chris Evans discusses Steve Rogers' arc in 'Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier'

Chris Evans will play Steve Rogers for the third time (well, technically fourth if you count the brief cameo in
Thor: The Dark World) in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This movie should be a radical departure from the fist, as Cap is now dropped into modern times and adjusting to society.

Trailer For James Gray-Directed Sundance Channel Series 'The Red Road'

While HBO and AMC tend to get all the Golden Age Of TV glory, it might be time to start including Sundance Channel in the mix. Last year's "Top Of The Lake" was one of the best things we saw on either the big or small screen, and if the first teaser for "The Red Road" is anything to go by, it's going to be another fascinating, layered drama. And hell, we'll be watching simply because James Gray directed the first episode of the six episode long season.

Starring Martin Henderson, Jason Momoa, Julianne Nicholson and Tom Sizemore, the series will center on a sheriff struggling to keep his family together while also trying to handle the tensions between the small town where he grew up and the neighboring community of Ramapo Mountain Indians. And the stakes will be raised after the sheriff and a member of the tribe make a pact following a tragedy involving the sheriff's wife. Sounds like great stuff, and another reason to get excited? The show was creaeted by "Prisoners" scribe Aaron Guzikowski.

Guest stars include Kiowa Gordon and Lisa Bonet. Tune into "The Red Road" February 27th at 9pm ET/PT.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition stills released

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is not a simple, upscaled version of last year’s critically-acclaimed adventure. It’s a colossal effort, soaked in visual enhancements and technical optimizations. Just when we thought Lara Croft hit her peak, she keeps on climbing.

One of the first challenges Crystal Dynamics faced was Lara herself — even though the team had smashed expectations with the impressive original game. A new head and face model have been implemented in this portrayal of Lara, bringing new life to the legendary heroine. Among the torrent of improvements made, the developers worked with subsurface scattering technology on Lara’s skin. This means light will actually pierce the top layer of her skin and diffuse, giving it a realistic glow.

Looks good! But this article just reminds me that it's really lame to me how cinematic experiences and aesthetically pleasing/realistic graphics are highly valued in video games. It's a nice bonus, but I hate when people recommend games to me talking about how awesome the graphics and cutscene sequences are. idk, makes me kind of sad - they're nice accessories that please my shallow wants, but I personally don't value any of it at all.

What do you think, ONTD? Can you justify a shitty game with an "at least it's gorgeous" line? How about now, with special additions to the controllers and all those things? Would you not give an older game a chance just because the characters are polygons? Video game post.

Evander Holyfield's Son: "Being gay is a choice ... and naturally that's how things work"

Evander Holyfield may think homosexuality is wrong ... but his son says the heavyweight boxer's got nothing but love for gays -- and even had a great relationship with a gay in-law.

Ewin Holyfield tells TMZ ... Evander is no bigot -- despite being bashed for expressing his opinion on homosexuality during last night's "Celebrity Big Brother" in the UK.

Ewin says, "My dad is the most loving and caring person you will ever meet. He treats everyone like a human being ... even if they are homosexual."

In fact, Ewin says he has a gay uncle ... and Evander treated him like a brother.

Ewin adds, "My dad feels that being gay is a choice ... and naturally that's how things work. You cannot procreate and make a baby with two women, or two men. But at the same time, my dad is not going to judge someone for their sexual orientation."
