Beyonce Leads for Third Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Beyoncé's self-titled album racks up a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200—the longest run at No. 1 for any album since last April. "Beyoncé" sold another 310,000 copies during the week ending Dec. 29, according to Nielsen SoundScan, down 17% compared with the previous week. The album has now sold 1.3 million in its first 17 days of release in the United States.

"Beyoncé" is the first album to spend three weeks at No. 1 since Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience" logged three straight frames atop the list (April 6-April 20, 2013). "Beyoncé" is the first album by a woman to notch three weeks at No. 1 since Taylor Swift's "Red" claimed seven weeks at the top (non-consecutively) in late 2012 and early 2013.

One Direction's album also becomes the group's third album—out of three—to sell more than 1 million copies. This week, in its fifth week on the chart, its additional 142,000 sold puts its to-date total to 1.1 million. The act previously released "Take Me Home" and "Up All Night" in 2012. The former album also cleared the 1 million mark its fifth week, while "Up All Night" took 19 weeks to reach 1 million.

Chris Pine for The Hollywood Reporter

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
On the 2005 set of Just My Luck, two careers collided spectacularly. There was the 18-year-old star, considered the most promising actress of her generation, commanding a $7 million-plus paycheck. And there was the 24-year-old no-name leading man, just happy to be there. Perhaps the romantic comedy's hackneyed plotline about the world's luckiest ingenue (Lindsay Lohan) swapping fortunes with a random hot guy (Chris Pine) came true. While Lohan never again reached such heights and today is trawling for paid club appearances, Pine is one of Hollywood's most in-demand leading men.

Mariah Carey confirms New Actual Single™/Possible Season for Incredibly Belated Album Release!

Fans have been waiting patiently for Mariah Carey to drop some new material. Well, it looks as if the wait will be over in 2014. Mimi has confirmed that a new single and album will be released in a few months.

During her appearance on NBC’s year-end program, ‘New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly,’ she revealed that a new single will arrive on Feb. 14 and the album will follow in the spring. MC then performed her latest song, ‘The Art of Letting Go.’

In 2013, Carey released the Miguel-assisted tune ‘#Beautiful’ and a few remixes. The ‘Touch My Body’ singer was scheduled to release the album in July, but the project was delayed.

Last year was a bumpy one for Carey. While filming the video for ‘#Beautiful,’ the 40-year-old (????) singer dislocated her shoulder after she tripped in her signature high heels.

In brighter news, Carey appointed her longtime producer Jermaine Dupri as her manager.

So while we wait for Mariah Carey to drop new music, the singer wished her Lambs (aka her fans) a Happy New Year on Instagram.

So excited that the queen chooses such festive holidays to eclipse with her own releases! I mean, everything about this article is kinda wrong but let's at least hope the release dates are correct aren't postponed ever again.

Kate Winslet fears for Miley Cyrus - saying pop wild child has ''lost her way''

Kate Winslet has told of her concerns over young stars including Miley Cyrus, who appear to have “lost their way”.

The Oscar-winning actress said she was thankful that she had been able to “remain sane” herself, despite rising to fame as a teenager.

“You hear horror stories where you think, ‘God, who’s looking after these people and why does it seem like they’re losing their way?’’ she said.

“I mean, you think about someone like Miley Cyrus , and I said to my daughter the other day, ‘I’m this close to opening my mouth about what’s going on with that girl’. Who is actually saying, ‘Stop for a second, what do you want, who are you?’

“I’ve just been very lucky that I’ve always been quite comfortable with who I am. Sometimes people ask, ‘What do you wish for your children?’ and all I say is, ‘I want them to be happy being them’.”

Kate, 38, said she was thankful her fame came before the rise of social media, which has made it much harder for the next generation.

“It’s really rough now. I think, for young actors, actresses and pop stars, it’s a nightmare. They can’t do anything. I’m so not going near that whole world - I don’t need it. I do feel incredibly lucky.”

Single Is The New Married For Pablo Schreiber

Pablo Schreiber's yoga instructor wife Jessica filed for legal separation shortly before Christmas citing irreconcilable differences.

Pablo, who plays the corrupt drug-peddling fellatio-soliciting correctional officer George Mendez on "Orange Is the New Black", married Jessica in 2007. They have two sons, a 5-year-old and a 22-month-old.

Jessica is demanding full physical custody of the children, and she wants Pablo to pay her spousal support. She also wants the judge to reject any bid he might make for spousal support. Nonetheless, Jessica says she's open to giving Pablo visitation and she's willing to share legal custody.

Even though it's separation, it sounds like divorce is on the horizon. Check out his tweet a few weeks back.

Doctor Who to Sherlock: TV franchises now have such devoted followings that casual viewers are alienated

The first three minutes of Sherlock were, I will grant you, a pretty ingenious way of answering the question everyone was asking. A prosthetic mask, a bungee cord, a Hollywood snog, and then, just as gullible audience members like me were beginning to howl with indignation at the anticlimactic absurdity of it all, a sharp tug on the rug under our feet: of course the explanation of the great detective’s death wouldn’t be so lame. Of course we were in safer hands than that.

But by the end, my admiration had faded a little. As the in-jokes piled up and the winks got ever slyer, I had begun to lose the thread. Above all, my assumption that the show would generously gather me up and take me along for the ride had been exposed as a delusion. By the time Holmes gave his own (also dubious) explanation of his feat, my question had changed. It was no longer how he had convinced the world of his demise. It was, why did he bother, again?

The problem is not that all this is too complicated. I don’t mind complicated. The problem is that it builds its drama on an assumption that you are intimately familiar with the circumstances of Sherlock’s apparent suicide, and Moriarty’s fiendish scheme to make it inevitable. Now, I loved that story, but I also watched it two years ago. And without remembering it in detail, I felt quite adrift. I suppose I should have rewatched it – but that’s a bit much, isn’t it? That suggests to casual, or even semi-professional, viewers that their attention is not enough. They must also do homework.

Michael Douglas & CZJ Are Back On

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are kicking off 2014 with a show of family unity.

"Happy New Year from Quebec, Canada... where it is minus 10F," Douglas, 69, wrote in a New Year's Day Facebook post accompanying a photo that appeared to be of the actor, Zeta-Jones, 44, and their kids Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, posing triumphantly atop a ski slope.

The picturesque resort town in Quebec has long been a Douglas family favorite. But in August, Douglas and the couple’s children vacationed there without Zeta-Jones, and soon after the pair announced they were spending time apart after 13 years of marriage.

Still, there have been signs of a reconciliation, with Douglas remaining resolutely optimistic in his public comments on their marriage. In October, he told reporters, "things are great. Onward and upward."

The holidays were a time of togetherness for the family. On Dec. 19 the couple lunched at Madonia Restaurant & Bar in Stamford, Conn., and on Dec. 22, Douglas, Zeta-Jones – both wearing their wedding rings – and their kids spent a day enjoying each other's company. Emerging from their Central Park West apartment, "they looked really happy," an observer tells PEOPLE. "They were smiling. The kids were having fun, enjoying spending time with their parents." After lunch at Orso, the family took in a matinee of Motown the Musical on Broadway before heading out for an evening show of The Hobbit.

Despite their problems, a source close to Zeta-Jones told PEOPLE in September that the couple – who endured Douglas's 2010 cancer battle – were doing everything they could to save their marriage.

"They're not giving up," said the source.

Alicia Keys out as BlackBerry's 'creative director'

Why Angel Haze's album leak is good for artists

A few weeks before Christmas, rising-star rapper Angel Haze was getting restless about the release of her debut album, Dirty Gold, out today. So restless, in fact, that the emcee's handlers were checking her SoundCloud profile every morning to make sure Haze wasn't giving fans an unauthorized sneak peak. "If I didn't have Angel on lockdown, she'd just put [the album] up there," manager Nicola Carson told Billboard. "She wants people to hear it now. She's so caught up in the moment and the creative space. She doesn't get caught up in the politics."

How prophetic. In a lengthy series of tweets on December 18, a fed-up Haze announced she was doing exactly what Carson feared: leaking her entire album on SoundCloud. "So sorry to Island/Republic Records, but fuck you,” the 22-year-old wrote. Haze said she had been promised a 2013 release if she finished the album by summer's end, so when the record, originally due in January, was pushed back to March, Haze decided she was tired of waiting. Within a few hours of the leak, Haze's label took Dirty Gold off SoundCloud but capitulated to Haze’s demands, announcing a December 30 release date.

LeAnn Rimes trademarks nasty nickname that Brandi Glanville gave her.

Way back in December of 2012, actor Eddie Cibrian released to the media, a private email conversation between himself and his ex-wife/mother of his two boys, model and reality TV star Brandi Glanville. In the aforementioned exchange, Brandi refers jokingly to Eddie's mistress turned current wife, country singer LeAnn Rimes, as an "angelfish", because she "sings like an angel and drinks like a fish". Brand accused Leann, stepmother to her two boys, of being "addicted to laxatives and adderall" and having "mental issues". Not one to be outdone, Leann had one of her die-hard fans make up an "angelfish" t-shirt which she was then photographed wearing throughout the streets of L.A.

So what's that got to do with now? Well, flash forward a year to December 2013, when LeAnn's company "Country Cuban Productions" filed to trademark the term "Angelfish" as a brand:

The brand received it's government stamp on December 6th. Amongst the products "Angelfish" will be producing? Purses and whips. Seriously.

Meanwhile, rumors continue to swirl about the status of LeAnn and Eddie's marriage. The two are currently on a New Years ski trip with Eddie and Brandi's young sons, Mason and Jake Cibrian. LeAnn has spent the entire vacation thus far fighting with twitter haters, but hasn't managed to post one photo of the family. Blind items have claimed that Eddie and his boys are spending the vacation in separate quarters from LeAnn, and that Eddie has been living with his parents since early November.

Chinese envoy compares Japan to Harry Potter villain Voldemort

China's ambassador to Britain has invoked Lord Voldemort, the villain of JK Rowling's Harry Potter series, in a diplomatic stand-off between Beijing and Tokyo over the Japanese prime minister's visit to a controversial war shrine.

"In the Harry Potter story, the dark wizard Voldemort dies because the seven horcruxes, which contain parts of his soul, have been destroyed," Ambassador Liu Xiaoming wrote on Wednesday in an op-ed in The Daily Telegraph newspaper.

"If militarism is like the haunting Voldemort of Japan, the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo is a kind of horcrux, representing the darkest parts of that nation's soul," he said.

Five (4) reasons James Avery was one of the greatest TV dads

James Avery was a prolific and versatile actor during his 68 years, but he's best known to several as Uncle Phil.

A classically trained thespian, Avery filled the role of the tough but caring head of the Banks' household on the '90s sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" for six years. Along the way, he crafted a character that stands apart as one of the greatest fictional dads on TV.

His costar Joseph Marcell, who portrayed the family butler Geoffrey, had it right when he said that Avery "strove to present an Uncle Phil that everybody wishes was their uncle." As a result, his death this week has left a lot of fans feeling as though they've lost a family member.

Every "Fresh Prince" fan probably has his or her own reasons why Uncle Phil was at the heart of the memorable comedy. Here are our top five (actually four):

Bethenny Frankel's New Boyfriend: I Am Not A Rapist.

Bethenny Frankel enjoys a Miami Beach vacation with her new boyfriend Michael Cerussi, who was accused of rape while a student at Union College, though no official charges were ever filed.

Cerussi filed a lawsuit in 2001 against Union College and the alleged victim, after he was expelled from the school in 2000 after a female student he partied with accused him and a fellow fraternity brother of having sex with her against her will. Cerussi insists the sex was consensual. The case dragged out for two years, before a settlement was reached and the case was voluntarily dismissed. According to one of Cerussi’s former lawyers, the school agreed to reverse the expulsion and reinstate him as part of the settlement, though Cerussi never returned to UC.

Cerussi, 34, who works in finance is nine years younger than Frankel. He lived at home with his parents in Riverside, CT., while the hearings went on. After pictures of Frankel and Cerussi emerged after New Year’s Eve Frankel got her hired guns on the case, with her publicist making the rounds of calls on Cerussi’s behalf, a source tells us. The duo knew press was sniffing around about the lawsuit, in which Cerussi insisted the girl's claims were false and that the school had no right to expel him.

Jay Mohr apologizes to Alyssa Milano; she accepts

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Comedians have a hole on their insides that can only be filled by generating constant content that is, many times, improvised in the moment. Unfortunately, in rare instances, it causes irreparable harm. I had thought (incorrectly) in an improvisational moment, that the incongruousness of my statements, when held up to the light of how beautiful Alyssa Milano is, would have been funny given that she is the size of a thimble. It wasn't funny. Knowing that Alyssa, as well as her family, friends, fans, and especially her husband, heard things that were hurtful from my mouth crushed me. She has always been one of the kindest, most caring and beautiful people this town has ever seen. I will not make excuses for what I said. Although I immediately removed that segment from my podcast, it still doesn’t change the results. I know full well how much words can hurt people, having seen my wife get destroyed by the tabloids, and I am embarrassed that I didn't think before I spoke. Alyssa is an extraordinarily beautiful person—both inside and out. Alyssa is a mother, a wife, an actress, and a class act that should always be celebrated. Sometimes comedians go too far. I went too far. I cannot change what I said, but I can assure you that my heart is broken that I hurt her. I am very sorry. With the utmost sincerity, Jay Mohr

‘Walter Mitty’ and the LIFE Magazine Covers That Never Were

“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” James Thurber’s classic 1939 short story, is a tribute to the sometimes unsettling power of the human imagination. It’s also very, very funny and, alongside a number of other Thurber gems — “The Catbird Seat,” “The Night the Bed Fell,” “If Grant Had Been Drinking at Appomattox” — remains an indispensable example of the uniquely American, mid-20th-century humor that found its highest expression in the pages of the New Yorker.

The most recent movie adaptation of the Mitty story stars Ben Stiller in the titular role as the archetypal nebbish who retreats into an intensely vivid fantasy world in times of stress. (The first film version of Mitty, starring Danny Kaye, was released in 1947.) In this rendition of the tale, Stiller plays a photo editor at LIFE magazine — still publishing, thanks to the magic of the movies, four decades after it shuttered in 1972 — and much of the film is set in the meticulously recreated offices of the storied weekly. In those offices, meanwhile, hang poster-sized versions of LIFE magazine covers through the years.

The covers are stirring, iconic — and, for the most part, they’re fake.

Or rather, the majority of the LIFE covers one sees in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty were never covers at all. The pictures on the covers in this gallery, for example — the launch of Apollo 11; Jayne Mansfield luxuriating in a swimming pool; a theater audience watching the first-ever 3-D feature-length film — are, indisputably, classic LIFE images. But none of them ever graced the cover of LIFE magazine.

“When we were selecting photos for the LIFE covers in Walter Mitty,” says Jeff Mann, the production designer on the film, “we focused on pictures that would serve the story we were telling, but that would also capture the diversity of what LIFE covered in its prime. We worked really, really hard to select photos that were novel, naïve — in the best possible way — and that featured significant twentieth-century people, places and events.”

In the end, Mann says, he and his team — and Stiller, who is a photography aficionado himself — felt that the photos they chose to use as covers, from the literally millions of pictures in LIFE’s archive, had to somehow “convey the influence of LIFE magazine, while at the same time helping to move our story along. It was a fabulous problem, and one we had a lot of fun working to solve.”

Here, then, are a number of LIFE covers that never were — including several that, in light of how wonderful they look, perhaps should have been covers, after all:

Geri Halliwell To Represent United Kingdom At Eurovision?

Eurovision forums and Twitter were awash with rumours this evening that the United Kingdom is considering choosing The Spice Girls’ Geri Halliwell for Eurovision. It’s not the first time she has been linked with the job. There’s no credible source for this rumour, although it is suggested her people have been pushing the idea and she is relaunching her music career early this year.

It’s that time of year when the UK fans get itchy for news and rumours always surface that turn out not to be true, but this is one that has appeared more than once. UK fans seem split… some delighted at the idea, some appalled. No doubt the UK will keep everyone hanging on until the last moment as usual.

Let us know what you think. Should Ginger Spice put on the union jack mini dress one more time?

US musician Phil Everly, one half of the Everly Brothers, has died, aged 74, in California, according to reports.

Everly died in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank of complications from lung disease, his wife, Patti, told the Los Angeles Times.

"We are absolutely heartbroken," she said, adding that the disease was the result of a lifetime of smoking.

Phil Everly and his brother Don made up the Everly Brothers, one of the biggest pop acts of the 1950s and early 1960s.

In 2014, Thor is the new Superman

by Chip Zdarsky, comic illustrator and the guy who talks to Applebees on Facebook

I don’t really care about Superman and you don’t really care about Superman, so why did last summer’s modern reboot, Man of Steel, upset me and others? There’s a public fondness for Christopher Reeves’ classic “aw-shucks-spandex” portrayal from 1978, but most people would agree that our modern tastes wouldn’t be too accepting of the old-fashioned flawless farmer Superman. So, yeah, he needed an update. But the resulting nihilistic dud, last summer’s Man of Steel from hollow director Zach Snyder and dark, meandering producer Christopher Nolan was as fun as a fire in a Planet Hollywood: destruction and sadness burning away any goodwill brought in through nostalgia.

We were treated to Henry Cavill’s dour Superman, raised to not help anyone, and Amy Adams’ Lois Lane, devoid of charm and saddled with clunky dialogue where she has to tell people she’s a Pulitzer-winning journalist so people will realize she’s a good journalist. The relentlessly bleak movie culminates with wild disregard for human life in a grim, destructive finale that went on forever and ended with (SPOILERS) Superman slaughtering his adversary, crying and screaming to an unjust god amidst a city he helped destroy.

Morrissey: Eating meat is the moral equivalent of pedophilia or Nazism

He already told us “Meat is Murder”‘ — so this should, perhaps, come as no surprise.

Promoting his memoir, “Autobiography,” Morrissey told fans in an online Q&A session that:
“If you have access to You Tube, you should click on to what is called The video the meat industry doesn’t want you to see. [sic] If this doesn’t affect you in a moral sense then you’re probably granite. I see no difference between eating animals and paedophilia. They are both rape, violence, murder. If I’m introduced to anyone who eats beings, I walk away. Imagine, for example, if you were in a nightclub and someone said to you ‘Hello, I enjoy bloodshed, throat-slitting and the destruction of life,’ well, I doubt if you’d want to exchange phone numbers.”

Morrissey, a lifelong animal-rights advocate who canceled a 2009 Coachella concert over the smell of a barbecue, criticizes celebrities in particular for their promotion of meat.

“If Jamie ‘Orrible is so certain that flesh-food is tasty then why doesn’t he stick one of his children in a microwave? It would taste the same as cooked lamb. The singer Cilla Black recently appeared on television telling us how she was preparing leg of lamb for dinner, and since a lamb is a baby, I wondered what kind of mind Cilla Black could possibly have that would convince her that eating a baby is OK.”

The singer’s objections go yet further when he violates the so-called Godwin’s Law, the notion that comparing anything to the Third Reich is an automatic conversation-ender: “If you believe in the abattoir then you would support Auschwitz,” he writes. But it’s not just animal advocacy for Moz: The singer is currently at work on a novel, he said, having grown increasingly dispirited at the state of the music industry. “The actuality is that radio stations will not play my music, and the majority of people have lost faith in the music industry.”
