Taylor Swift Collaborating Again for Fifth Album: 'I See It as an Apprenticeship'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
"I'm really loving collaboration right now," Swift told Billboard during a quick stop in Los Angeles to support her song "Sweeter Than Fiction" from the film "One Chance." "I see it as a bit of an apprenticeship. I want to be around people who love writing songs and have done it for years. Every time I'm in a studio I'm learning, like how to build a drum track, and getting a new perspective on things. It's so thrilling to keep learning on your fifth album.

Bristol Palin: "Leave Phil Robertson Alone!"

From Bristol's Blog dated December 20th, 2013:

Everyone needs to leave Phil Robertson alone for expressing his beliefs. I think it’s so hypocritical how the LGBT community expects every single flippen person to agree with their life style.  This flies in the face of what makes America great – people can have their own beliefs and own opinions and their own ways of life.

Everyone needs to treat others like God would, with love.

It goes both ways.

I hate how the LGBT community says it’s all about “love” and “equality.” However, if you don’t agree with their lifestyle, they spread the most hate. It is so hypocritical it makes my stomach turn. They need to learn how to respect others’ opinions and not just jump to the conclusion that everyone who doesn’t support homosexuality and gay marriage is homophobic.

They take the easy way out every time anyone speaks out about their beliefs on the Bible.

If I were Duck Dynasty, I would take my show to another channel.

So much disrespect.

Britney Spears: I Think About Retiring

Just because Britney Spears is about to launch a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas that doesn't mean the 32-year-old pop princes doesn't think about retiring.

"I have thought about it, but I think right now is my time to perform and doing what I'm doing," Spears told me yesterday while promoting her new E! special, I Am Britney Jean.

"If I happen to have another baby or something like that, I'd probably move back to Louisiana," she said. "I do miss Louisiana. I miss the people. I miss the food. I miss the way of life, how everything is really simple. There's no traffic like there is in L.A. It's really nice."

Charlie Sheen wrote a poem for Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson

Charlie Sheen is giving voice to the voice-less in a raging Twitter rant addressing “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson, who’s in the middle of a controversy over anti-gay and racial comments made during an interview with GQ magazine.

No stranger to being in the middle of a media firestorm himself, Sheen shows no mercy for Robertson in a very angry missive posted to Twitter on Saturday.

Ylvis hits #1 on The New York Times' Best Sellers List

Talk about a fast turn-around: Ylvis released “What Does the Fox Say?” in September, went viral shortly after, inked a book deal with Simon & Schuster in November, and released said book an unheard-of five weeks later. Now, it’s reached the top of the New York Times’ Best Sellers List for Children’s Books.

According to the publisher, the record-breaking sales for children’s publishing have amounted to more than 60,000 units sold in-store in just one week; it’s now in its sixth printing with 300,000 copies in print. The question is, will viral videos continue to be turned into book so quickly? Should we expect the lyrics for goat versions of Taylor Swift songs to also hit shelves soon?

In her own words - Beyoncé Answers Fan Questions During Director’s Cut Screening of Her New Album

She talked about growth, what it meant for her to finally release such a ‘brave’ project, feeling empowered as a mother, who exactly is Yoncé, and much more.

The 43-year-old opted for an all cream ensemble wearing a fitted cashmere pea-coat which came to just above her knees as she went for a stroll with her two-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. The suspension of Phil Robertson from A&E’s Duck Dynasty is outrageous in a nation that values freedom, according to social critic and openly gay, dissident feminist Camille Paglia.

“I speak with authority here, because I was openly gay before the ‘Stonewall rebellion,’ when it cost you something to be so. And I personally feel as a libertarian that people have the right to free thought and free speech,” Paglia, a professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, said on Laura Ingraham’s radio show Thursday.

Dot-Marie Jones Marries In Surprise Wedding Ceremony

Close friends of Jones, 49, and Casteen were invited to a holiday party at the couple’s home. The duo then surprised their guests by informing them that they were actually gathered to witness their nuptials.

"Thank you @dotmariejones for making me the happiest woman in the world," Casteen Tweeted at the time. This is the first marriage for Jones and the second marriage for Casteen.

Britney & Her Family Will Be Spending Christmas In Sin City!

Christmas is just a few days away, meaning families will be gathering for their holiday traditions, and that includes Britney Spears.

"We always do a tree, we do dinner, a huge dinner, we do presents and we are all about Santa," Britney recently told MTV News

According to Britney's younger sister, Jamie Lynn, the Spears family will spend their holiday in Sin City, where, two days after Christmas, Britney will kick off her two-year residency, "Piece of Me" at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

"We are actually going to go to Vegas and the whole family is going to be there," Jamie Lynn said before adding that she will not be making an appearance onstage during her sister's show. "I'm just there to be a cheerleader and that's kind of intimidating. I don't know how to dance."

Joining in on the Christmas Day festivities will be Jamie Lynn's 5-year-old daughter Maddie and Britney's two sons Jayden James and Sean Preston. Jamie Lynn revealed that she's become very close with her nephews over the years.

"It's really cool. They are two boys, and it's weird because I feel like she's tougher than them," she said. "It's really cool to see their dynamic. She keeps right up with them."

And speaking of tough, let's hope there are no arguments between Britney and Jamie Lynn, who recently collaborated on Britney's eighth album Britney Jean, this holiday season. The two both have admitted that they rarely fight. But when they do, things get a little physical.

"Sometimes we get on each other's nerves, and we will actually physically wrestle," Jamie Lynn said. "And she really thinks she can beat me every single time and she never does. I don't know why she keeps trying. My dad loves it. He doesn't stop it either; he just let's it go and walks in the other room. He probably can't hear; he has hearing aids."

Simon Cowell Thinks 'People Have Had Enough' Of Lady Gaga, Rates Beyonce As Music's 'Future'

Simon Cowell believes Lady Gaga’s “hype” has died down tremendously in 2013 and he surmises “people have just had enough” of her offerings.

The 53-year-old X Factor tycoon helped launch the successful careers of numerous pop stars, including Leona Lewis and British boyband One Direction.

And he believes Lady Gaga, who is known for her out-of-the-box performances and style, didn’t make as much of a splash this year because people are moving on.

“I think overall this has been a really, really good year for music, I was saying that to someone last night, it’s almost as if songs have come back into fashion again,” he told Kay Burley and Stig Abell in a pre-recorded radio interview for LBC 97.3.

"I mean, some people have had a great year, some people have had a bad year, it’s quite interesting that after all the hype, Lady Gaga, it’s almost as if people have just had enough of it.”

Gaga’s ARTPOP album was released in November and climbed its way up the charts to the number one position in at least nine countries.

Despite her sustained appeal to the masses, Simon is convinced Gaga’s peer Beyoncé Knowles is dominating the industry, especially after the R&B crooner released her fifth self-titled studio album unannounced last week to much success.

“You see the Beyoncé album drop out of nowhere in the middle of the night and crash the internet,” he explained.

“No pre-promotion, no stupid pictures, nothing. And again, maybe this is the sign of how things are going to change in the future."

Simon’s full interview on 2013: What A Year That Was is slated for broadcast on LBC 97.3 at noon on Boxing Day.

"G.B.F." Gets Shocking 'R' Rating For Being Too Gay

Director Darren Stein is defending his new teen comedy, "G.B.F.,"
after the Motion Picture Association of America slapped the film with an R
rating, citing "sexual references."

"What really appealed to me about that the screenplay was that it felt
like a mainstream teen comedy that could reach a wide audience," Stein, who
feels the film should've warranted a PG-13 rating at most.

The director, whose credits include 1999's teen-centric black comedy
"Jawbreaker," believes that "G.B.F." (which stands for
"gay best friend") is very appropriate for young audiences.

I always thought of G.B.F. as a PG-13 movie, but we were given an R
‘For Sexual References’ while not having a single F-bomb, hint of
nudity or violence in the film. Perhaps the ratings box should more accurately
read ‘For Homosexual References’ or ‘Too Many Scenes of Gay
Teens Kissing.’ I look forward to a world where queer teens can express
their humor and desire in a sweet, fun teen film that doesn’t get tagged
with a cautionary R,
” Darren wrote on his Facebook page.

G.B.F. is in theaters on January 17 and also stars Paul Iacono, Molly Tarlov,
Megan Mullally, Natasha Lyonne, Rebecca Gayheart, JoJo, Evanna Lynch, and many

Terry Richardson's ex Audrey Gelman defends Lena Dunham over photoshoot: "We both have regrets"

Lena Dunham recently came under fire after publicly expressing her disgust about the multiple accusations of rape leveraged against R. Kelly. The backlash, led by Michelle Malkin, arose because of Dunham's recent spread with the controversial photographer Terry Richardson, a man not immune to accusations of sex crimes, including inappropriate behavior with young models.

Dunham responded: "
Someone implied my statement about R Kelly was invalid because I’ve had my photograph taken by Terry Richardson. I responded asking that my feminism not be picked apart because of one PR experience. You don’t learn to say no overnight. Any man who takes advantage of any woman sickens me. That's all and that's always. No debate. The debate about good and bad feminism makes me want to take a nap for a year. Nothing pains me more than when something like the R. Kelly convo comes to light and women turn on each other. I never want to be didactic on twitter. I want to recognise how freaking complex it is to be female right now, aka VERY."

Dunham's longtime friend Audrey Gelman, a political advisor and recent ex of Richardson, has since sprung to Dunham's defence: "Lena tried to see the good I saw in someone and we both have regrets. The online discourse on these issues is vital and pushes us forward everyday. Biased perhaps, but i see Lena as a courageous champion of women, a critical voice who scrutinizes and challenges female representation in the media, and most of all, a wonderful and loyal friend. Thank you @amandahess @michelledean @irin@annaholmes and others writers I respect for considering these issues with both sensitivity and courage. as for michelle malkin:

Guitar legend Carlos Santana reunites with old drummer who now lives off the streets

"And if you say this life ain't good enough
I would give my world to lift you up"
These are the lyrics of the guitar legend Carlos Santana's award winning song Smooth from the album Supernatural. He now has the opportunity to actually live up to these lyrics after being reunited with his old drummer, Marcus Malone, about 40 years after parting ways.

Marcus Malone has been living on the streets for decades. All he has to boast about, unlike the rockstar who made it big, is a $800 pair of discarded jeans he found himself in trash.
"My name is Marcus, Marcus Malone. At one time I was in the Santana band, the original Santana Blues Band," the landscaper tells Stanley Roberts, a news reporter in Oakland, California.

"Now I'm homeless and on the streets," he tells the reporter while rummaging through piles of trash for valuables.

Turns out, he was telling the truth - he was the percussionist for the band. He was forced to quit some 40 years ago in the late '60s due to personal problems.

One Direction 2014 tour will top $1 billion

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Huge ticket sales for next year's Where We Are stadium tour have put them on track to surpass rock gods U2 and The Rolling Stones by becoming the first act to break the billion dollar mark (£610million) in a single year.

If that wasn't enough, 1D are also set to eclipse U2's record for average tour attendance which stands at 66,110 for their 2009-2011, 110-show 360° Tour.

U2 and the Stones currently hold the top two spots for onthe-road earnings, raking in £467million and £341million for their 360° and Bigger Bang tours.

Harry, Louis, Liam, Zayn and Niall already have 88 dates booked for 2014 at some of the biggest stadiums in Europe, South America and the US.

Venues that hold 80,000 plus concertgoers have already sold out across the US, as have others across South America and Europe.

A spokesman for the band in the US told Rehab: "Demand was so enormous for Where We Are tickets that 21 American dates had to be added to the original schedule.

"It is absolutely conceivable that still more could be squeezed in before the end of 2014 but that will ultimately be up to the band and its management.

"Until now we hadn't even thought in terms of breaking records.

"But it would be amazing for 1D to climb to the very top of the tour league so early in the group's career. That would be a phenomenal testament to the loyalty and support of their fans."

Last month's release of Midnight Memories saw 1D become the only British band ever to have their first three albums debut at No.1 in the US charts.

The boys are also in a two-horse race with Robbie Williams to land the Christmas No.1 album.

Dwyane Wade Enlisted His Sons and Nephew to Propose to Gabrielle Union - "marry us"

MIAMI — Dwyane Wade, 31, enlisted some help with his proposal to Gabrielle Union, 41.

The three boys that the Miami Heat guard is raising, his two sons and a nephew, all were part of the engagement surprise, Wade said Sunday when he spoke out about the big news for the first time.

His youngest son Zion held a sign with her name.

His nephew Dahveon Morris’ sign said “Will you.”

And his oldest son Zaire’s sign read “marry us?”

Bewildered, Union turned to Wade and saw him on bended knee, then realized what was happening. An 8 1/2-carat cushion cut diamond sealed the deal, and with that, Wade was an engaged man again.

(Five of) TV’s hottest new shows of 2014

Although it may be hard to believe, there are other shows coming on this winter besides “Downton Abbey.” And many of them are new. After a disappointing start to the season — “The Blacklist” is the only hit among the fall shows — the networks and cable stations are rolling out their B line of shows, hoping some of them, which cover genres as diverse as crime, science fiction and comedy, resonate with viewers. Many of these will premiere next month, before the start of the winter Olympics and the long-awaited arrival of Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” on NBC. Here’s an early look at what’s coming up, just in case your DVR isn’t full yet.

Flowers In the Attic

Playing Sally Draper for six seasons on “Mad Men” seems to have given Kiernan Shipka a taste for kinky material. In her first major role, Shipka is co-starring in the remake of “Flowers in the Attic,” the gothic chiller based on the wildly successful novel by V.C. Andrews. “Flowers” weaves the twisted story of the Dollanganger kids who, after the unexpected death of their father, are convinced by their mother, Corrine (Heather Graham), to stay hidden in the attic of their wealthy grandparents’ mansion so she can reclaim the family fortune. But as her visits wane (she soon finds a man), the children endure hostile treatment at the hands of their ruthless grandmother Olivia Foxworth (Ellen Burstyn). As years pass and the eldest children Cathy (Shipka) and Christopher (Mason Dye) come of age — emotionally and physically — their family’s sordid past entraps them further as they turn to each other for comfort.

TV Ratings: Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake Propel 'SNL' to 2-Year High

Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake closed out 2013 for Saturday Night Live with a ratings surge. In a lift that has become expected for the musical guest's many collaborations with the NBC series, SNL delivered its best numbers in nearly two years.

The Dec. 21 episode averaged a 6.3 rating and 16 share among households in Nielsen's 56 metered markets. The last time the series approached such a high was the Jan. 7, 2012, episode that saw host Charles Barkley get a significant lead-in from an NFL overrun.

Among adults 18-49, the 25 markets with Local People Meters gave the episode a 3.9 rating. The last episode of SNL to perform so well in the key demo, outside of NFL boosts, was when Timberlake hosted the 2011 season finale to a 4.5 adults 18-49 rating.

The last time a Christmas episode of SNL performed so well was the 2004 telecast hosted by Robert De Niro, with musical guest Destiny's Child.

NFL post - Owners Didnt Want to Pay For Eminem or Kanye To Perform At Their Super Bowl Party

Eminem got an offer he COULD refuse -- an offer to sing at the NFL Owners Party during Super Bowl week that did not meet his price -- $2 MILLION!
Sources connected to the party tell TMZ ... reps from the event were looking for a headline act for the party that followed the dinner, which will be attended by 1,500 lucky folks. When Eminem's agents laid out the financial terms, we're told the owners group passed.
We're also told the owners were interested in Kanye ... but his fee was too high as well. As one source put it, "It was $1 million, plus plus plus a lot of other perks."
In the end, we're told the group settled on Janelle Monae, who's going for a very reasonable $150K.
There will be a slew of singers performing at various events in NYC during Super Bowl week. We're told DJs are the big thing ... and the big ones are going for between $750K and $1 million.

Rachel Zoe Welcomes Baby #2

 photo rachel.jpg

It’s a second son for Rachel Zoe! The celebrity stylist turned designer and her husband Rodger Berman welcomed another boy on Sunday, Dec. 22, she announced via Twitter.

“So excited to welcome our baby boy into the world … he’s 7 lbs 12 oz, beautiful, healthy and we couldn’t be happier,” Zoe, 42, writes.

After weeks of speculation that she was expecting, Zoe confirmed the pregnancy in September. Since then, she and Berman have been preparing big brother Skyler Morrison, 2½, for his latest role — one that, up until recently, he was still unsure about.

“It depends what day you ask him. Right now he just doesn’t want anyone near Mommy except him, so I don’t know when that should change,” she told PEOPLE this fall.

But shortly before baby’s birth, Zoe admitted her plan was to let love conquer all.

“I’m madly in love with [Skyler]. I don’t know if it works out the same way with the next one, [but] I just plan to fall in love all over again,” she told PEOPLE.

Top Comedy Episodes of 2013

This is part two of my yearly list of the year's best episodes. Part one, the dramas list, is here, along with a bit of ruminating on terminology and format: sitcom versus drama, half-hour versus hour, and where the distinctions start to blur.

As I did last year, I've mixed in live-action half-hour and hour scripted shows with cartoons. I know some readers don't think that's fair, because animation gives storytellers a level of visual freedom that you can't get with actors and sets (not on a TV sitcom budget, anyway). But as far as I'm concerned, a story is a story is a story, and once you've committed it to paper, the rest is structure, style, and performance.
