Alicia Vikander Talks The "Daring" ‘Hotell,’ ‘Ex Machina,’ ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’ & More

Sometimes neophyte actresses come along who fizzle out after a couple of early promising roles. And then there are those who, from practically the first glimpse we get of them, we just know are going to be big, and are going to be around for a while. Alicia Vikander, a no-brainer inclusion on our On the Rise list from March 2012, definitely falls into the latter category, making a vivid impression first in her feature debut “Pure,” and then breaking internationally with the one-two punch in the corset of “A Royal Affair” and “Anna Karenina.”

On Saturday morning the actress jetted in to the Marrakech Film Festival ostensibly as part of its Scandinavian tribute, but also ended up picking the Best Actress award for her role in the terrific “Hotell,” (review here) her reunion with “Pure” director Lisa Langseth. We were lucky enough to get to talk to Vikander (who despite being just off an intercontinental flight having wrapped shooting on “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” the day before, couldn’t have looked fresher if she’d bathed in dew) about the “Hotell”, her breakout process, and the packed and exciting upcoming slate that will see her in both a multiplex and an arthouse cinema near you very soon.

So you’ve just finished shooting “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” after a string of smaller films. What are your criteria for choosing projects?
Mostly I try to work with great filmmakers. It’s difficult to find good scripts sure, but it’s also so much about the vision and the person that’s gonna make the film...

Joan Fontaine dies at 96.

Suspicion star Joan Fontaine has died, aged 96.

The actress's assistant confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Fontaine passed away at her Carmel, CA home of natural causes.

Fontaine is best known for her work with the legendary director Alfred Hitchcock in the films Suspicion and Rebecca.

She won a Best Actress Oscar in 1942 for her performance in Suspicion as a woman who falls under the spell of conman.

Fontaine was competing in the Best Actress race that year against her sister Olivia de Havilland, with whom she had a well-documented rivalry.

The star had other memorable roles in The Constant Nymph, Gunga Din and Letter from an Unknown Woman.

Psych: The Musical is 'the most epic Psych-out of all time'

Psych: The Musical, written and directed by creator Steve Franks, puts BFFs Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill) at the center as they're tasked with tracking down escaped mad man, playwright Z (Rent's Anthony Rapp), who six years earlier was deemed criminally insane after locking a critic in a back room of the theater that he burned to the ground. Shawn and Gus are forced to consult with the one person Z confided in while in the institution, a dangerous villain from Shawn's past.

"The entire thing is basically a Psych-out," Roday jokingly tells The Hollywood Reporter, referencing the bloopers that air after each episode. "It's the most epic Psych-out of all time."

The Power Of Beyoncé – Sex & The Visual Album

In 2006, when Beyoncé released her video anthology for the deluxe version of B’day, I remember thinking to myself, “Every major label pop artist powerhouse with money needs to do this until it becomes normal.”

I didn’t scrutinize the videos. I watched from start to finish — withholding judgment — immersing myself in the experience of a full-length visual story told through the music of an album and an artist’s eyes.

The CD was dying. It was the rise of iTunes and Limewire. The fangirl experience of sitting by your boombox, flipping through the album booklet, shaking, engulfing yourself in the piece of art you just bought was on its way to extinction.

Milan Lucic Of The Boston Bruins Involved In Altercation Outside Bar

The Boston Bruins' visit to Vancouver to play the Canucks was short but was hardly uneventful.

After the Bruins lost 6-2 to the Canucks (and Brad Marchand did some taunting), Bruins forward Milan Lucic hit the town to unwind as NHL players are wont to do from time to time. Only it doesn't look like it was a very relaxing evening.

In a video posted onto YouTube claiming to be in Vancouver on Saturday night, Lucic is seen arguing with a man as police arrived to intervene. Lucic can be heard saying that he was hit three times by the other man in the confrontation but didn't hit back, which is probably good for the other guy, and Lucic. The "Do you know who I am?" card was played too. It's impossible to discern anything more than that.

Beyonce Pushing for Bottom Bitch Feminism?

In Pimp Theory, a “bottom bitch” is the one in the whores’ hierarchy who rides hardest for her man. She’s the rock of every hustler economy and her primary occupation is keeping other ho’s in check and gettin’ that money. She isn’t trying to elevate the status of her sister ho’s. She isn’t looking to transform pimp culture. The bottom bitch is a token who is allowed symbolic power, which she uses to discipline, advocate for, represent and advance the domain of the stable.  In pop culture, she represents the trope of the chosen black female, loyal to her man and complicit in her own commodification.

James Franco Was Drugged

Could James Franco have been roofied? The 35-year-old actor took to Instagram on Dec. 14 to post a shirtless video of himself lying in bed.

"What's up? Got drugged last night," Franco said before panning down to show off his right nipple. "Somebody slipped me something, in bed."

In the video, the Oscar nominee's speech was slow, but at the end of the clip, he stuck his tongue out to the camera. So it's hard to tell if this is a serious incident or if Franco -- a part-time performance artist -- is merely joking.

The 127 Hours actor recently released his "Bound 3" parody with friend and actor Seth Rogen, which imitated Kanye West's raunchy "Bound 2" music video which features a topless Kim Kardashian.

He recently appeared as a meth dealer in the action flick Homefront and had a guest role on The Mindy Project. Franco is currently preparing for a Broadway role in the revival of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men with Bridesmaids star Chris O'Dowd and Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester

Ronaldo museum opens with space for another 'Ballon d'Or'

Real Madrid and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo opened a museum in his honor in his birthplace on Sunday, which he said had extra room for the Ballon d'Or and many other trophies to come.

Standing next to his 2008 Ballon d'Or and 125 other individual and team awards dating back to his Madeira childhood, the 28-year-old told reporters the CR7 Museum was a gift to his fans.

"Of course it's a special day, it's the opening of my museum and I am proud," the Portugal forward, who has scored 33 goals this season, said.

"I have room for more trophies. I don't really want to mention specific ones. All I want is to win more awards and if the Ballon d'Or comes, there is extra room here."

Soccer's world governing body named him, Barcelona's Lionel Messi of Argentina and Bayern Munich's French winger Franck Ribery as the three finalists for the 2013 Ballon d'Or award, formerly known as FIFA World Player of the Year.

Miley Cyrus Finally Opens Up About Liam Hemsworth Split: "I Was So Scared of Ever Being Alone"

The softer side of Miley. One of the most anticipated celeb interviewees in Barbara Walters Presents The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013, Miley Cyrus gets more vulnerable and candid than ever talking about her dramatic split (and canceled engagement) with Liam Hemsworth this past fall. The "Wrecking Ball" singer, 21, admits to Barbara Walters that she and the Hunger Games hunk, 23, moved too fast -- and that she held onto the relationship out of fear.

"I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year," the chart-topper says of her record-breaking 2013. She and Hemsworth met on the The Last Song set back in June 2009, announced their engagement three years later. The former Disney star adds: "I don't ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can't be yourself."

Cyrus confides to Walters that she did indeed love the Australian actor -- and she doesn't even regret their engagement. "I don't think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn't change being engaged," Cyrus said.

"It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years," she added of her huge engagement ring from Hemsworth. "But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy. I wait for those moments of silence, when I'm just at my house, by myself."

Would Cyrus ever want to be married? "I think I'll want that in the times that it needs to be," she replied to Walters.

Barbara Walters Presents The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013 airs on ABC this Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 9:30 p.m. EST.

Moffat Confirms that John Hurt Was Brought in to Replace Chris Eccleston

It’s no secret that Christopher Eccleston was initially approached about returning for The Day of the Doctor. Of course he ended up turning it down.

22 Jump Street Trailer

’22 Jump Street’ trailer begins as Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum return for the sequel to their fantastic comedy ’21 Jump Street.’ As teased at the end of the original movie, the sequel has them going off to college. Let’s take a look at the ’22 Jump Street’ trailer and see if we want to enroll with them.

“Ladies, nobody gave a s— about the Jump Street reboot, but you got lucky. So now, this department has invested a LOT of money to make sure Jump Street keeps going.”

And with the meta bit of dialogue from Nick Offerman, the ’22 Jump Street’ trailer is off and running. The plot seems remarkably similar to the original film – cops go undercover as students to bust a drug ring – but the results are just as hilarious. It looks like in this installment, Tatum’s Jenko goes undercover as one of the football players while Schmidt infiltrates the art scene. Of course, as they proceed, their continuing relationship gets tested and their age gets questioned.

While Brie Larson didn’t return for the sequel, Ice Cube is back and the end of the trailer promises some cameos from original cast members. Returning to direct are Phil Lord and Chris Miller who fit in the sequel in between work on ‘The LEGO Movie,’ which they have coming out in February.

’22 Jump Street’ opens in theaters on June 13, 2014.

Star Studded Auction to Stop NYU Expansion Plan

Some of New York City’s most glamorous bohemians are taking to the barricades in a battle that recalls the heroic, successful stand against Westway but seems, given current realities, a bit more quixotic. “The Village is rapidly disappearing. I don’t believe it’s NYU’s prerogative to destroy it,” said the Oscar-nominated screenwriter Kenneth Lonergan, one of dozens of Greenwich Village actors, artists, and writers aligned with a group of more than 400 NYU faculty members to protest NYU’s ambitious expansion plan. “NYU pretty much owns the entire neighborhood!” the essayist Fran Lebowitz said with that trademark drawl. “I personally don’t feel universities add to the life of the city. Places where universities add to life had no life to begin with, seriously!” “You can’t walk on the sidewalk as it is,” Matthew Modine added. “This is the remaining portion of the city that predates the automobile. On a weekend, I find it impossible to walk out onto the street.” The thought of Modine and Lebowitz being impeded by students paying the full NYU freight of roughly $64,000 is indeed a little distasteful—although it has to be said that this is largely an upper-middle-class problem. The Village has always been for artists—but in the past, a much larger percentage of them were starving

A reminder that R. Kelly is a scumbag in case you forgot

I'm usually loath to use the phrase "trigger warning" because I think it's overused to the point of absurdity. HOWEVER, there is content in this interview that is absolutely triggering, so proceed with caution.

It has been nearly 15 years since music journalist Jim DeRogatis caught the story that has since defined his career, one that he wishes didn't exist: R. Kelly's sexual predation on teenage girls. DeRogatis, at that time the pop-music critic at the Chicago Sun-Times, was anonymously delivered the first of two videos he would receive depicting the pop star engaging in sexual acts with underage girls. Now the host of the syndicated public radio show Sound Opinions and a professor at Columbia College, DeRogatis, along with his former Sun-Times colleague Abdon Pallasch, didn't just break the story, they did the only significant reporting on the accusations against Kelly, interviewing hundreds of people over the years, including dozens of young women whose lives DeRogatis says were ruined by the singer.

This past summer, leading up to Kelly's headlining performance at the Pitchfork Music Festival, DeRogatis posted a series of discussions about Kelly's career, the charges made against him, and sexual assault. He published a live review of the singer's festival set that was an indictment of Pitchfork and its audience for essentially endorsing a man he calls "a monster." In the two weeks since Kelly released his latest studio album, Black Panties, the conversation about him and why he has gotten a pass from music publications (not to mention feminist sites such as Jezebel) has been rekindled, in part because of the explicit nature of the album and also because of online arguments around the Pitchfork performance.

I was one of those people who challenged DeRogatis and was even flip about his judgment -- something I quickly came to regret. DeRogatis and I have tangled -- even feuded on air -- over the years; yet, amid the Twitter barbs, he approached me offline and told me about how one of Kelly's victims called him in the middle of the night after his Pitchfork review came out, to thank him for caring when no one else did. He told me of mothers crying on his shoulder, seeing the scars of a suicide attempt on a girl's wrists, the fear in their eyes. He detailed an aftermath that the public has never had to bear witness to.

X Factor UK Scores Lowest Finale Since 2005

The U.K. season finale of The X Factor on Sunday drew an average audience of 9.7 million, becoming the lowest-rated season-ending episode of the show since 2005, according to ratings consultancy

Sunday night's episode of the Simon Cowell-created singing competition on ITV brought to an end the 10th season of the talent show in Britain and was the most watched show of the night in the U.K. despite its drop from previous seasons.

Last season, the finale had attracted 10.9 million, or 11.1 million when including the audience for the re-airing. In 2011, ITV had reached an average audience of 13.1 million for the final episode, while in 2010, an audience of 17.2 million had tuned in for the show's highest-rated finale ever.

Sunday's audience performance beat out 2005 when the finale drew an average of 8.1 million viewers, according to data from that time period, following 9.7 million in 2004.

A peak audience of 11.9 million watched this Sunday, again falling behind last season when the finale had peaked with 12.8 million.

Justin Timberlake Stops Concert for Fan's Proposal

Justin Timberlake gave two fans a concert they'll remember for the rest of their lives at the Louisville, Ky., stop of his 20/20 Experience Tour on Sunday.

When a fan named Josh reached out to Timberlake's camp in November asking to propose to his girlfriend Kim at the concert, the Grammy-nominated singer happily obliged.

An excited Timberlake stopped his show after performing "That Girl" and brought Josh and Kim onstage.

"Josh and Kim, why don't you make your way up here?" the musician asked before introducing them to the crowd.

"Josh called me earlier. He's got something he wants to tell you," he explained to Kim.

Being the showman that he is, Timberlake positioned the couple before hopping offstage to give them their moment. Josh proposed to Kim and planted a huge kiss on her, leaving a giddy Timberlake applauding.

Blanchett lends 'fiery strength' to 'Dragons' sequel

Instead of winning an Oscar at the 2011 Academy Awards, How to Train Your Dragon director Dean DeBlois won the services of Cate Blanchett for its sequel.

In How to Train Your Dragon 2 (due June 13), the Oscar-winning actress voices Valka, a maverick Dragon Rider who lives as a recluse in the Arctic and becomes a mentor of sorts to the young Viking hero of the first movie, Hiccup (Jay Baruchel).

Blanchett's sons were fans of the first film, which earned more than $500 million worldwide. So she was intrigued when DeBlois approached her out of the blue at the Oscars ceremony, where Dragon was nominated for best animated feature and best original score.

Super big here.

"She was just standing there," the director recalls, "and I said, 'I've written a part for you in How to Train Your Dragon 2.' You have to seize those opportunities when they present themselves. She's such a glamorous starlet but, at the same time, this very grounded, super-cool Australian who drinks out of the can."

DeBlois' follow-up checks in with Hiccup and his dragon pal, Toothless, five years after he brought humans and dragons together on the island of Berk.

Why We Expect More From Jennifer Lawrence Than Male Celebrities + AH BTS

With great celebrity comes great scorn, and Jennifer Lawrence might be on track to become the latest in a long line of female icons accused of being "fake." In a world that increasingly demands "authenticity," there is mounting pressure on female celebrities like Lawrence to prove that the down-to-Earth persona they display in public is an accurate reflection of who they really are.

Lawrence's newest film, American Hustle, is set to release in theaters on December 20. Reviews for the film have been stellar, and many praise Lawrence's performance in particular — as they have done for nearly every movie she's appeared in since Winter's Bone. With an Oscar win early this year for Silver Linings Playbook, the rousing success of Catching Fire, what looks to be a phenomenal mid-December film, and — as of Thursday morning — a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress, 2013 is shaping up to be "The Year of Lawrence."

It's about this time that the naysayers rear their ugly heads. And so they have. As early as March of this year, entertainment commentators began pining to the ether about whether or not Jennifer Lawrence's laid-back, happy-go-lucky attitude is "real" or if she is just putting forth a relatable front for the camera.

Shia LaBeouf accused of plagiarism (again)

FYI, I am not embedding the video b/c it is currently password protected. Oop @ dat damage control.

Shia LaBeouf posted his new short film online on Monday, having first debuted the work at the May 2012 Cannes Film Festival. The piece stars Jim Gaffigan as an online film critic name Howard Cantour, and it is almost a direct adaptation of Justin M. Damiano, a 2007 comic written and drawn by famed artist Daniel Clowes.

Nowhere in the promotion for or credits of the film does LaBeouf mention the Clowes comic; Eric Reynolds, long time editor of Daniel Clowes’ comics and associate publisher at Fantagraphics, called the film “shameless theft!”

“The first I ever heard of the film was this morning when someone sent me a link. I’ve never spoken to or met Mr. LeBeouf,” Clowes told BuzzFeed. “I’ve never even seen one of his films that I can recall — and I was shocked, to say the least, when I saw that he took the script and even many of the visuals from a very personal story I did 6 or 7 years ago and passed it off as his own work. I actually can’t imagine what was going through his mind.”

A rep for LaBeouf did not immediately return BuzzFeed’s request for comment.

What it's like interviewing Britney Spears + Britney tweets

Behind the Scenes: What It Was Like to Interview Britney Spears for the January Issue

I’m the Fashion Features Editor at InStyle and in addition to assigning and editing cover stories and fashion features, I sometimes get to write them. This was the case with Britney, who I have long admired since I was an editor at Teen People in the early 2000s. Here’s a step-by-step account of our interview that didn’t make it into the story:

1. As I walked up the dance rehearsal space, I could hear “Toxic” blaring. It’s one of my personal favorites and immediately took me back to her famous MTV snake performance (um what). If I wasn’t nervous before about interviewing a cultural icon, I was then.

2. I was greeted by a very nice and slight guy who manned the door the whole time I was there. He basically acted as a bouncer, checking people in and out, but didn’t have as hulky or intimidating a presence as I would have thought someone in that role should have.

3. I hung out the lobby for a while waiting, listening to the rehearsal in the neighboring room, but it would get really crowded at times with handlers and business associates. It was also extremely hot in the space. Eventually I migrated to an empty locker room area that was a tad cooler.

4. At one point I saw the show’s producer, Baz Halpin, walk by and I asked to speak with him about the production. He told me about the snow and rain elements of the show and the number of dancers. He’s also worked with Pink and Katy Perry.

Bey Caught Us Slippin '13: The inside story of the sneak attack

Inside sources have revealed a bit about the behind-the-scenes process that transformed what began as Beyonce’s vision into the year’s most successful album launch. Three teams worked diligently on the project: Team Columbia, the artist’s Team Parkwood and Team iTunes.

And what started with just four people in a room (with a plan for what we’re calling the Sneak Attack) ended with the three teams in total coordination, with as many as 15 participants in the inner circle for the final 72 hours. Plans were hatched and revised, and the digital release date changed repeatedly before it was finally agreed upon and the substantial body of work was completed and delivered.

Columbia’s team started early on with their sales team, expanding to production coordinators and marketing. On the Parkwood side, Lee Anne Callahan and Jim Sabey were the tip of the spear. iTunes' Robert Kondrk, Jay Liepis and Janet Rubin also played pivotal roles. Each team moved forward and then spent much of the process in hurry-up-and-wait mode, standing by for the content—which ultimately included 14 songs and 17 videos—knowing they had to be ready to turn on a dime for the launch to proceed smoothly to its privately preconceived conclusion. And smoothly is how it came off, with no press leaks and the element of surprise helping to create the magic and power the ensuing retail frenzy. For more on this amazing development, check our lead story. (12/16a)

Colin Farrell on Elizabeth Taylor: 'She was the last romantic relationship I had'

One of the greatest loves of Colin Farrell's life was over 40 years his senior.

'It was kind of like the last, it feels like in my head, not her, I’m projecting, but the last kind of romantic relationship I had, which was never consummated,' said Colin, who is now starring in Saving Mr Banks.

It all started when Colin bumped into her team in a hospital.
'My youngest son was being born,' started the looker who has two sons, James, aged 10, and Henry, aged four.
'We were in Cedars and I bumped into - it was about an hour before Henry arrived - and I bumped into somebody outside the lift. It was Elizabeth’s manager and her close friend Tim Mendelsohn and they said what are you doing here?'

Colin - who Eileen Atkins, 70, famously confessed in 2005 had asked her for no-strings attached-sex when they co-starred in Ask The Dust - continued: 'I said my son’s about to be born. They said oh. I said what are you doing here? And they said well Elizabeth’s having a stint put in her heart, it’s no big deal cause she had so much sh** and I said, "Will you tell her I said hello? She probably won't know who I am."

Three new Avatar films to be made in NZ

The next three Avatar films will be made in New Zealand, as announced at a press conference with the film's director James Cameron.

James Cameron said he was delighted at the news, not least because he and his family were about to become New Zealand residents. He has recently bought land in the Wairarapa.

"For that reason it's a real pleasure to know I'm going to have so much of my work done here over the next few years."

Harry Styles parties until 3.30am with female friends as girlfriend Kendall Jenner heads back to LA

He's known for his party animal antics, and rarely lets an evening go by without enjoying a night on the town.

So when it came to Harry Styles celebrating after One Direction's performance on The X Factor final on Sunday night, the 19-year-old singer went all out to mark the occasion.

Harry was seen leaving One Marylebone after the X Factor wrap party at 3.30am on Monday morning, followed by Meredith Winston - the wife of his close friend and 1D film producer Ben.

The stunning woman had also been seen arriving with Harry at the nightspot for the celebration, and was seen chatting to both him and bandmate Niall Horan, who attended with his rumoured girlfriend Barbara Palvin.

It is not clear just how Harry and the pretty female know each other, but they did look pally as they enjoyed the evening out.

Harry Styles wins court order against paparazzi

Court orders photographers to stop pursuing singer, placing him under surveillance or loitering within 50 metres of his home

One Direction's Harry Styles has won a court order banning the paparazzi from pursuing him in the street or waiting outside his house.

The 19-year-old asked the high court to prevent photographers from following him after trying to persuade them to change their behaviour, according to his lawyer.

An order handed down by Mrs Justice Nicola Davies orders unnamed photographers to stop pursuing the singer by car or motorcycle, placing him under surveillance or loitering within 50 metres of his place of residence to monitor his movements.

Styles was not in court for the short hearing on Monday. His lawyer David Sherborne told the court: "This is not a privacy injunction. Mr Styles is not trying to prevent fans approaching him in the street and taking photos. He remains happy to do that, as he always has. Rather, it is the method or tactics which have been used by a certain type of photographer."

Sherborne said the case concerned a series of paparazzi photographers, four of whom were in the process of being identified.

The injunction against "Paparazzi AAA and others" is thought to be among the first of its kind, although the legal tactic was used in two high-profile cases in recent years.

The singer Cheryl Cole won a similar high court order last year after complaining about the "intense and very annoying" experience of photographers camping outside her home.

In 2011 Tinglan Hong obtained an injunction against the paparazzi to deal with the sudden interest in her private life after she gave birth to Hugh Grant's daughter.

Styles's injunction will continue until another hearing in the week beginning 13 January, which will decide how the action should proceed.

Louis Farrakhan Tells Kanye West Not To Bow To Jewish Pressure

Earlier this month the Jewish Anti-Defamation League released a statement asking Kanye West to apologize for comments he made during an interview with The Breakfast Club.

During the discussion, Kanye said, “Black people don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people.” ADL’s National Director Abraham H. Foxman called the comments “classic anti-semitism” and said they reinforced the stereotype that Jews are “all-powerful and control the levers of power in government.”

While some in the Jewish community were offended by Kanye’s quote, Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam has defended the rapper and his comments. According to Farrakhan, Kanye should not apologize because nothing that he said was untrue.

“Did he lie? No, he told the truth,” says Farrakhan in a video address.

He goes on to add:

You know what Mr. Foxman? I wish you and I could have a dialogue. You wouldn’t put that small time stuff over on me that you put on scared to death negroes, that if they mention Jew and you call them anti-semitic they start bowing to you and your pressure. Kanye West don’t bow to the pressure to apologize to anybody. You said nothing wrong.

Drake Producer Noah “40″ Shebib Talks Beyoncé Track

Beyoncé’s epic album release Thursday night lit the Internet on fire and caught everyone by surprise—everyone including those who worked on it. Rolling Stone spoke with Drake producer and OVO staple Noah “40″ Shebib about his contributions to the album, as he produced the track “Mine” featuring Drake over a two-day period this summer.

“They were pressuring me: ‘We need this mix. We got to get it done. ASAP, ASAP!’” he said, recalling a phone call from Beyoncé last week. “I fight some people sometimes: ‘Don’t give me the pressure. You’re going to get it. Everybody will be OK. Relax.’”

But 40 delivered the track, and the album came out just as Bey planned—as a shock to the world.

“It was brilliant,” he said about the release. “You spend no marketing dollars, essentially. To hold that together and not let that out of the bag is very, very impressive. It’s not easy to do. Everybody was surprised. Everybody. It wasn’t just the fans.”

Chris Evans & Alice Eve: New York Dinner Date

Chris Evans and Alice Eve head into the same SUV separately after having dinner together at John’s on 12th Street on Saturday evening (December 14) in the East Village neighborhood of New York City.

The 32-year-old actor and the 31-year-old actress will be starring as love interests in the upcoming movie 1:30 Train, which Chris is also directing and producing.

The film follows two strangers as they meet one night in Manhattan and form an unlikely bond based on the conflicts in their own lives.

Or they're having a working dinner... but, of course, no one in Hollywood ever does that.
There are more images at the source, but they're both almost unrecognisable in their jackets.

Simon Cowell says X Factor will be back, Fox says not so fast.

Simon Cowell says The X Factor will survive despite this fall’s devastating ratings drops.

“The show will be back next season,” the producer and judge told reporters on a conference call Monday.

But not so fast: What does the Fox say? The network has not yet renewed the reality series, and there’s no deal yet. As EW first reported, Factor is talks to return despite its painful season 3 numbers. The order is likely to be smaller than usual — instead of three hours per week, Factor is more probably going to run only two hours a week, especially after the audition period. All the reasons why Fox is strongly considering the renewal here.

Cowell hinted that his role on the show might change into “a different kind of role,” though added, “we haven’t discussed that yet.”

The judge likewise gave his assessment of the current season: “The show started off okay. I thought the was four-chair section was terrific. I thought the early live shows were okay. And the last two weeks have been amazing.”

Added Cowell: “As a series, particularly because of the talent — and I’m biased but it’s true — because of what [contestant duo] Alex & Sierra have achieved on iTunes over the last couple weeks — I’ve never seen this happen with a contestant — the show has achieved what it set out to achieve, to find a star.” So … mission accomplished, then!

Dove Cameron to play Maleficent's daughter in "Descendants"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Last week, Disney Channel announced that it had begun casting Descendants, a live-action original movie about the offspring of some of the company’s best-known villains (and heroes). Now the network has revealed who will play Maleficent’s daughter Mal: Dove Cameron, who currently stars (as twins, no less!) on Disney Channel’s Liv and Maddie. And though Descendants is not a musical, we hear that there will be “a lot of singing” in the movie — including by Cameron’s character. (She’s certainly got the pipes for the job.)

“Dove is a multi-dimensional actress whose undeniable charisma allows her to conjure the many facects of Mal, the sharp-edged yet vulnerable daughter of one of Disney’s most wicked villains,” Disney Channels Worldwide senior VP Judy Taylor said in a statement.

A Black Film Renaissance In 2013? Here's A Snapshot Of The Year In Black Cinema

Expect a much more thorough write-up towards the end of the year, or early next year. Consider this a snapshot of how black cinema did in 2013, with 2 weeks left until the year ends, and the last black film of the year, now in theaters as of this past weekend - Tyler Perry's Madea Christmas.

I'll also compare this year's stats with previous years, in consideration of all the media proclamations that 2013 ushered in something of a new beginning ("new wave") for black cinema, suggesting that, in the future, we might be looking back at 2013 as the year when black cinema finally got its wings.

I'm defining "black film" simply as cinema in which the central character (or characters) that the stories revolve around, are of African descent - regardless of whether the filmmakers are all of African descent. If it's a documentary, the same definition applies. People of African descent have to be central to whatever unfolds.

So, for example, a film like 2 Guns didn't make the cut. And neither did Captain Phillips. Both featured black characters in significant roles, but, ultimately, both films weren't centered entirely around those characters. There are other similar examples.

The list of films I narrowed the entire year down to are at the bottom of this post.

Suge Knight: Call Me A Ni**a, Not An African American

Suge Knight is offended when people call him African American, because he's NOT African. On the other hand, he doesn't have a problem with the word, "Ni**a."

Suge says it's offensive to label all Black people African American. And he goes further ... he thinks it's ridiculous that only rappers can use the word, "Ni**a." He thinks if it can be used by some, it should be used by all.

At first his theory sounds a little shocking, but maybe he has a point.

Jamie Dornan is officially a DILF

Jamie Dornan just took on yet another huge role: daddy! The Fifty Shades of Grey star and wife Amelia Warner recently welcomed a baby, two sources confirm exclusively to Us Weekly. Information on the tyke's gender, name and other details were not yet available, and Dornan's rep had no comment. ETA: Apparently they had a baby boy girl!

This is the first child for the Irishman, 31, and his wife, an actress who has appeared in movies including Quills and Mansfield Park. Married since April of this year, the two confirmed in June that they were expecting.

The new dad will certainly have his hands full for the next few months. He's currently filming the movie adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey with costar Dakota Johnson. (Dornan took over the role of Christian Grey from Charlie Hunnam; Johnson plays leading lady Anastasia Steele.)

Confirmed: Joseph Gordon-Levitt to star in/possibly direct adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "Sandman"

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and “The Dark Knight” screenwriter David S. Goyer have come on board to produce an adaptation of the DC Comics title “The Sandman” at Warner Bros.

Gordon-Levitt, who made his feature directorial debut on “Don Jon,” is also eyeing the project as a possible directing and starring vehicle. Neil Gaiman, who authored the graphic novel series, will exec produce.

“The Sandman” was published by DC Comics for 75 issues between 1989 and 1996. It centers on the character Dream, also known as the Lord of Dreams, Morpheus, Oneiros, the Shaper, the Shaper of Form, Lord of the Dreaming, the Dream King, Dream-Sneak, Dream Cat, Murphy, Kai’ckul, and Lord L’Zoril.

At the start of the series, the Morpheus character was captured and held prisoner for 70 years before escaping into the modern day and rebuilding his kingdom, which has fallen into disrepair.

Gordon-Levitt has appeared in a pair of Warner Bros.’ tentpoles – “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Inception” — and will be seen in The Weinstein Co.’s “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.”

Five Favorite Kung Fu Films with Keanu Reeves

The Man of Tai Chi director reflects on his favorites, filmmaking inspirations and his career; plus, watch an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from the making of the movie.

Like a cool breeze blowing through the mountains of modern movies, Keanu Reeves has endured as something of an unlikely cinema icon. Not just the star of summer smashes such as Speed and The Matrix, he's also amassed an impressive resume that includes performances in left-field American classics like River's Edge, A Scanner Darkly and My Own Private Idaho, while continuing to flourish in the popular imagination, of course, as the irrepressibly excellent stoner, Theodore "Ted" Logan.

Having served as the inquisitive anchor on last year's digital-vs-film documentary Side by Side, Reeves recently made his feature directing debut with Man of Tai Chi, a kung fu tournament movie wrapped in a reality-TV-style satire. With the movie releasing on Blu-ray and DVD this week, we talked with Reeves about his filmmaking inspirations, his acting career, and more.

Mark Wahlberg: "I'm the best white rapper-turned actor."

Actor Mark Wahlberg considers himself the best white rapper-turned actor and has placed himself ahead of Grammy Award winner Eminem.

In an interview with Global Grind TV, the 42-year-old, who went by the name "Marky Mark", claimed to be the most successful white rapper-turned-actor, reports

"I'm the best white rapper-turned actor. Eminem did a great job in '8 Mile', but he only made one movie so I definitely have that title," said Wahlberg.

In 1991, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, US hip-hop group led by Wahlberg, released their single "Good Vibrations". The track was the lead song from their debut album, 'Music For The People', which reached no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It was three years later in 1994 that he made his big screen debut in Danny DeVito's comedy "Renaissance Man", however, his work was noticed only after he featured in "The Basketball Diaries", alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
