Justin Bieber singing, playing basketball & helping kids in Philippines

Justin Bieber has visited the Philippines to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan. The teen hearthrob arrived from Australia and flew to Tacloban, the devastated capital of central Leyte province. The 19-year-old pop star visited a school being used as an evacuation centre and played basketball with fans. He also performed an acoustic set to the delight of a crowd of residents. Bieber has used his worldwide profile to help raise $639,000 so far, with a goal of reaching $1 million to support Unicef's efforts to help those affected.
"Justin brought a lot of joy, hope and cheer to the hundreds of children who were there," Angela Kearney, UNICEF's emergency coordinator for Haiyan response, said in a statement.
Kearney said the money Bieber raises "will give some of the children who were caught in the path of Haiyan access to education, vaccinations, better nutrition, clean water and sanitation."

Khloe Kardashian Filing for Divorce today..... but no one cares because Beyoncé

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Khloe Kardashian is filing for divorce from Lamar Odom ... TODAY ... TMZ has learned.

Sources tell us, Khloe will be citing irreconcilable differences in her legal docs. The split should be pretty cut and dry -- an ironclad prenup which kept all their assets separate ... and no kids.

As we reported, Lamar's bizarre freestyle rap video -- in which he brags about cheating on Khloe -- was the last straw in their crumbling relationship.  Immediately after TMZ posted the video last month, Khloe stopped wearing her wedding ring.

The end was a long time coming ... Khloe had expressed dire concerns about the marriage ever since she learned about Lamar's crack addiction earlier this year, but she forestalled divorce for fear he'd OD or worse.

Lamar and Khloe tied the knot in September 2009.

J. Law, Sandra Bullock, Penélope Cruz, etc named hottest bods of 2013; nobody cares because Beyonce

Having the hottest celebrity body amongst all the celebrity bodies is like being a goddess amongst exceptionally beautiful women.

That means we can all pretty much bow down to Penélope Cruz, who was named No.1 on Fitness Magazine's 2013 Best Bodies List! Jennifer Lawrence and Sandra Bullock, whose figures are also praiseworthy, rounded out the mag's top three hottest bodies of the year list.

So how did Penélope, 39, earn that top spot? Fitness Magazine praises the Counselor star for having "popped back up on the red carpet in amazing shape just three months after giving birth [to son Luca in July]." The mom of two reportedly credits "following a Mediterranean diet, dancing and chasing after her kids for getting her back into shape after both pregnancies."

Jennifer, 23, was lauded in particular for her toned, athletic physique in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. She reportedly got into "kick-ass Katniss shape" through "agility drills, sprint intervals, medicine ball exercises and cardio on a stationary bike." Jen told InStyle's December issue, though, "nothing" can motivate her to work out!

As for 49-year-old Sandra? She credits her ageless figure to "Pilates, kickboxing, weight lifting and running or biking while traveling." The Gravity star spends an hour a day, six days a week doing a mix of cardio and strength training.

Other hot bods that made the cut? Kerry Washington, Scarlett Johansson, Christina Aguilera and Katy Perry! The full list will be posted on

Chanel "apologizes" if you "misinterpreted" their new collection

"The Chanel-Dallas Metiers d'Art 2013/2014 collection is a celebration of the beauty of Texas. Native Americans are an integral part of Texas's rich history and culture and the feather headdress, a symbol of strength and bravery, is one of the most visually stunning examples of the creativity and craftsmanship they possessed. We deeply/ sincerely apologize if it has been misinterpreted or if it is seen as offensive as it was really meant as a tribute to the beauty of craftmanship."

Chanel has come under fire for showing Native American-inspired headdresses as part of its latest collection presented in Dallas on Tuesday.

Activist Sasha Houston Brown was dismayed to see models were dressed in feathered headpieces walking down the runway at the star-studded Metiers d’Arts show.

She told MailOnline: 'I think this incident really demonstrates that regardless of a brand’s status, cultural appropriation and misrepresentation continues to be an ongoing issue in the fashion industry.

She said that Chanel should have learned from previous Native-inspired fashion offenses by Urban Outfitters, Victoria’s Secret, and H&M, which should have provided the label with clear-cut lessons before staging its show.

Miss Brown, a 26-year-old member of the Santee Sioux Nation, and serves as the director of education for Little Earth United Tribes, says that the runway show’s portrayal of Native American fashion represents a gross underassessment of traditional Native American dress as a whole.

Indie Actor James Franco to Star in Indie Drama ‘The Fixer’

James Franco is set to star in “The Fixer,” an indie drama that Franco’s frequent collaborator Ian Olds will direct from a script he co-wrote with Paul Felten, TheWrap has learned.

The project is inspired by Olds’ 2009 documentary “Fixer: The Taking of Ajmal Naqshbandi,” which explored the 2007 kidnapping of one of Afghanistan’s best “fixers” — individuals hired by foreign journalists to facilitate, translate and gain access for their stories. “Fixer” earned Olds the Best New Documentary Filmmaker award at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.

The feature film follows Osman, an Afghan journalist exiled from his war-torn country to a small bohemian community in Northern California. When he attempts to turn his menial job on the local police blotter into “Afghan-style” coverage of local crime, he gets drawn into the backwoods of this small town — a shadow Northern California where sex is casual, true friendship is hard to come by and an unfamiliar form of violence lurks all around.

Franco will play one of the leads — an unstable hot-tub craftsman named Lindsay, who is at the crux of Osman’s journey.

Producers expect to start production in July in Northern California, where 90% of the script takes place. “The Fixer” may also shoot in Morocco, which would stand in for Afghanistan.

In a bid for authenticity, the filmmakers intend to cast an Afghan or Afghan-American as Osman, and they’re open to casting non-actors as well as professionals. The project received a development grant from the San Francisco Film Society, so Olds and von Kuhn will head to the Bay Area, Fremont and other NorCal areas with large Afghan-American populations in February.

Golden Globe nominee Barkhad Abdi was discovered in a similar casting call for “Captain Phillips” in Minneapolis, which boasts a large Somali population.

Bey caught you slippin?

Beyoncé, album review: 'the most X-rated pop album since Madonna's Erotica'

Beyoncé's surprise album, BEYONCÉ, is X-rated, sensuous and thoughtful, says Neil McCormick. And Queen Bey's vocal gifts put the rest of 2013's pop stars in the shade

She may have dropped it out of the blue to bypass critics, bamboozle pirates and deliver her latest opus straight to fans but pop’s reigning queen has, at least, delivered the goods.

Beyoncé Knowles's fifth solo offering, titled BEYONCÉ, is an event album worthy of her superstar status: it's sexy and smart, with a stripped back modernity that allows the character in her voice to flourish, and stamped with visual wit and swagger. It is also rude enough to make young Beyoncé fans and their parents weak at the knees, although possibly for different reasons.

Previous albums have suffered from a tendency to show off across too many genres and use her powerhouse voice to cover up the weakness of material.

Hilary Duff Does A Very Impromptu And Personal Interview With A Fan

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Hilary was recently in Toronto for a charity project and met Josh, a page runner of the twitter @hilarynews to participate in a very candid and detailed interview. They talked about all the details of her new album, movies, old music, Luca, and her fans.

J: Is there anything you wanted to say to your fans?

H: Oh my gosh, When you take such a big break like I did, you’re like “Does anyone care about me anymore?”. You feel that way. Actors and singers and performers… they’re kind of like dogs. They want to know they are doing a good job, they want the praise. Not in a excessive way, but I’ll still do an interview and be like “was that okay, did I say everything I needed to say?”. It makes me nervous coming back, “does anybody care anymore? Is there any point in me doing this?”. I think that seeing the stuff that the fans write about me on my Twitter page, or running into someone on the street asking “When are you doing new music? We’re waiting, we’re waiting”. It means the world to me for them to have stuck it out this long and still care and still support me, and the kind words that they say about me and the love that they show, that I get to feel, means everything to me and I am so grateful that they’re around. They have given me so many wonderful experiences and make my heart feel so big. I appreciate each and every one of them. I’m excited to give them my music and I hope it’s everything they want.

In other words, he's now a serious-movie leading man. But not so serious that we can't ask him about his famous football hair!

GLAMOUR: So what's the story behind the legendary long non-cut you had for five seasons on FNL?
TAYLOR KITSCH: I started growing it when I was 20, playing junior hockey. The first time I cut it was for Battleship—I'd had it long for 11 years. Now it's kind of got a life of its own.

GLAMOUR: I heard that like Jennifer Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher, you used to model for Abercrombie.
TAYLOR KITSCH: Yeah, that was kind of a weekend thing I did to stay afloat—10, 20 bucks here or there. I was actually homeless at the time.

GLAMOUR: Homeless? Really?

The Wrong Kind of Ice Capades-Feuds, Mismanagement and Blown Races Dim US Speed Skating's Prospects.

There's been a lot going on in U.S. speed skating since the Vancouver Olympics in 2010, but don't worry. We're here to get you caught up.

In 2011, a member of the short-track team vandalized an opponent's skates and was later suspended, along with the team's head coach. After this, the short track speed-skaters split into two rival factions that barely speak, much less train together. Last December, on the way back from an international event in Japan, one clique ditched the other during a layover, hopping an earlier flight to Salt Lake City while the other group was grabbing a bite. The U.S. Olympic Committee nearly dissolved the national federation for chronic mismanagement.

All this conflict doesn't seem to be making the team any better: At this year's World Championships, U.S. speed skaters won three medals, down from nine in 2011.

The Hobbit Grosses $8.8. Million at Midnight Screenings

Peter Jackson's second installment of his trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, was released by New Line Cinema and MGM onto 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D screens last night with special Thursday midnight screenings, and it has grossed $8.8 million from those showings.

That's less than its predecessor, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, grossed in the same timeframe last year, possibly showing that there isn't as much immediate interest in the sequel or as much of a rush to see it. The amount is higher than the midnight gross of 2003's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, which took in $8 million in midnights, although one has to take into account that ticket prices are significantly higher now, as well as the premiums charged for 3D and IMAX.

IMAX has informed us that 14% of that midnight amount was from the movie's IMAX screenings, up from 12% of audiences going to midnight IMAX showings of "An Unexpected Journey."

That doesn't mean that "Desolation" couldn't pick up more business on Friday and over the weekend to match or surpass the $84.6 million opening of "Unexpected Journey" or its $303 million domestic gross, but chances are that the movie is going to join many others this year that make most of their money internationally.

Basically just an excuse to discuss the movie! Who else saw it? Loved it? Hated it? I pretty much loved everything except Tauriel. She was exactly what I feared she'd be - just a tool for a horribly misguided love triangle. She could have been a cool character, if she wasn't relegated solely to love interest. But Smaug was awesome, so whatevs

VH1 (And Ryan Seacrest) Developing Docu-Series On The True Minority - White Female Rappers

As if he doesn't already have enough to do, Ryan Seacrest has added another reality TV show to his content empire. This time, Seacrest will executive produce a new VH1 series about "a group of up-and-coming white female rappers as they aspire to and struggle for fame," titled Girls In The Game.

VH1 has ordered 6 episodes of what will be a half-hour series, although casting and debut details have yet to be announced.

Some of you may remember that, 6 years ago, VH1 did air an earlier show about white rappers, titled ego trip's The (White) Rapper Show, created by ego trip magazine. In the show, ten white rappers competed with each other for the chance at a $100,000 grand prize. The show was based in the South Bronx, with MC Serch (from the group 3rd Bass) serving as host. At the end of each show, one rapper was eliminated, until one remained, after being groomed from wanna-be white rapper to full-fledged and multi-faceted emcee.

11 (5) reasons why Beyonce's new surprise album is genius and insane

At precisely midnight on Friday the 13th (of December 2013), Beyonce dropped her fifth studio album, self-titled, and it was a total surprise. The album is available exclusively through iTunes through Dec. 20, when it will then be available as individual tracks. Beyonce said that CD copies will be available by Christmas.

And that sound of your Twitter feed blowing up is because it's insane. And kind of a genius move. Below are my initial thoughts on why:

2. Sure, Grammy Awards, go ahead and have your enormously slow Friday night to post your nominations last week. Beyonce is using the slow late-night hours, but her name will be dominating headlines all of Friday. You know what else she'll be dominating? The Grammy Awards, come January. Just as Justin Timberlake had no real reason to overtake the 2013 Grammys ceremony except to promote his new set, Beyonce just got herself a ticket (even though we know Beyonce will never be in want for Grammys tickets, ever). Jay Z's "Part II (On the Run)" featuring his wife is also up for an award, maybe she'll drag him up for her performance for once?

Angelina Jolie Might Testify in News Corp's Phone Hacking Lawsuit

The stunt double suing News Corp in the United States says that a U.K. compensation scheme set up by the company has been "unfair" to victims and that U.S. courts should have an opportunity to address the "increasing threat to privacy."

Among them are the locations of those who might be called to give testimony.

Cate The Great Beauty Post

Cate Blanchett is renowned for her brilliant performances—her leading role in Blue Jasmine earned her nominations for a SAG Award and a Golden Globe this week, and will in all likelihood also garner her an Oscar nod, a statue she took home in 2005 for The Aviator. But bring up her name in a roomful of women, and the one thing that always comes up is her lit-from-within skin. Blanchett attributes her flawless complexion to SK-II, for which she is a global ambassador, and its star ingredient, Pitera (an amino-acid-, mineral-, and vitamin-rich yeast from Japan). Her visage is so flawless, in fact, that she was willing to go au naturel for the last scene in Blue Jasmine. "I wanted Jasmine to be utterly unmasked, without wearing a scrap of makeup," she said.

Nirvana's ICONIC MTV Unplugged, 20 Years Later

Nirvana’s legendary Unplugged in New York has never really had the chance to be evaluated outside of the canonization of Kurt Cobain that followed his entry into the “27 Club.” It’s admittedly hard to hear him sing lines like “I swear I don’t have a gun.” and “Don’t expect me to die,” without thinking about what would tragically follow, only four months after the performance.

But on the 20th anniversary of the song set's airing, it’s worth considering the performance as a work of music, not mythology. Because as music, it’s incredible. The band run through a tense and brilliant 14-song set in one scintillating take, something unusual at the time for the popular MTV series, and the result is one of the greatest live albums ever—an unforgettable document of raw tension and artistic genius.

Interstellar Full Trailer Leaks

First Interstellar Trailer Leaks Onto The Web

A leaked trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Interstellar was posted on Reddit today. Debuting in theatres last night in front of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, those who haven’t had a chance to catch Peter Jackson’s return to Middle-earth yet can now watch the Interstellar trailer from the comfort of their own home.

Oozing with Nolan’s trademark directorial style, this is very much a teaser and as expected, it doesn’t dive too far into plot details nor does it show much footage from the film. The whole thing is narrated by lead Matthew McConaughey as themes of hope, and how that ties into America’s cultural identity relative to space exploration, shine through. That’s my stab at it, anyways, but that’s pretty much just conjecture. One Reddit user named TheAbbotHawkings sums it up pretty well:

Interesting…before watching the trailer I had no idea what this movie was about.

Now that I’ve watched the trailer, I have no idea what this movie is about.
