The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas has announced his first solo dates of 2014.
Casablancas will perform solo at Lollapalooza in Chile and Argentina next year on a bill that was announced yesterday yesterday (November 4). Other artists on the line-up include Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Soundgarden.
Albert Hammond Jr of The Strokes recently denied the New Yorkers are back in the studio following a statement that the band are preparing a "return to the scene" last month. Casablancas' solo dates would hint at the possibility of a new album from the frontman, a follow up to his 2009 debut 'Phrazes For The Young'.
Speaking to NME earlier this year, Albert Hammond Jr said that there could be "10 more Strokes albums" in the future. "There might be times when we're not doing things but I don't feel like we'll ever stop," he said. "We've come to the point where we've been together so long and been through so much that why announce anything besides what we're doing? We're just together."
Other artists included on the line-up for Lollapalooza in Chile and Argentina next year include Pixies, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, Jake Bugg and New Order.

Nnamdi Asomugha, who stunned the nation over the summer with his marriage to actress Kerry Washington, just received some unfortunate news from the NFL.
According to NBC Sports, the San Francisco 49ers are releasing the 32-year-old upon the return of injured cornerback, Eric Wright. Once considered one of the league’s top defensive backs, sports insiders are optimistic that Asomugha’s chances of signing with another franchise are “pretty good.”
Prior to the unforeseen announcement, the baller was spotted over the weekend in Manhattan with the “Scandal” star following her hosting duties on “Saturday Night Live.”
"She was adorable, as you can imagine" an observer revealed to Us Weekly. "She was with her husband, parents and family and friends. When she arrived to the table, they gave her a standing [ovation]!"
Washington's appearance on the popular sketch comedy show also contributed to its highest ratings of the season, making it the most watched episode since Justin Timberlake's March 9 airing.
Tough luck man.

It troubles me to even write this. However I don’t make the news I just report it. About 2 weeks ago, Mimi Faust enlisted the help of a media coach to provide her with media training in an effort to get ahead of this sex tape scandal that is about to rock Love & Hip Hop.
For those of you in the dark, as I was, pictures have surface online of Nikko and who appears to be Mimi Faust doing the nasty. The breast on the woman in the pictures look store bought, and the tattoos align, so we are more than confident it is Mimi. We are also confident that this tape did no mysteriously leak, but that Mimi & Nikko most likely orchestrated this stunt to stay current. It’s worked for everyone else, hell why not? How I Met Your Father (CBS)
Spun Off From: How I Met Your Mother
The project is only in the development stage right now, but it shouldn't be. At all. We weren't really asking for a direct spin-off in the first place following one character, but the proposed plot — centered on a new group of friends with a female character searching for her future husband — is lazy and insulting to HIMYM's once imaginative concept. Not to mention, unlike HIMYM's cliché-subverting lead in Ted, a girl looking for love is as rom-com trite as it comes. Wait for it? No thanks.

Chase Carey says 21 Century Fox’s broadcast schedule has been a mixed bag, citing one very expensive music competition as exhibit A among the under-performers.
“‘X Factor’ has been disappointing to date,” the COO told analysts during a conference call Tuesday after the media conglomerate reported weaker than expected quarterly earnings.
He said he hoped that the show would regain its footing now that the World Series has wrapped up and it has resumed airing.
In the key 18-40 demographic, the Wednesday edition of “X Factor” is averaging a decent 2.8 rating and the Thursday edition is logging a so-so 2.3 rating. Not helping the situation for Simon Cowell’s follow-up to “American Idol” is that the program has been thoroughly outmatched by NBC’s rival music competition show, “The Voice.”

Blockbuster Closing Remaining U.S. Stores and Ending Mail Distribution</h1>
DISH Network Corporation today announced that its subsidiary, Blockbuster L.L.C., will end its retail and by mail DVD distribution operations by early-January 2014. The company will close its approximately 300 remaining U.S.-based retail stores, as well as its distribution centers.
"This is not an easy decision, yet consumer demand is clearly moving to digital distribution of video entertainment," said Joseph P. Clayton, DISH president and chief executive officer. "Despite our closing of the physical distribution elements of the business, we continue to see value in the Blockbuster brand, and we expect to leverage that brand as we continue to expand our digital offerings."
The Blockbuster By Mail service will end mid-December and will serve existing customers until that time.
Over the past 18 months, Blockbuster has divested itself of assets in the United States, as well international assets, including operations in the United Kingdom and Scandinavia. DISH will continue to support Blockbuster's domestic and international franchise operations, relationships and agreements.
DISH will retain licensing rights to the Blockbuster brand, and key assets, including the company's significant video library. DISH will focus on delivering the Blockbuster @Home service to DISH customers, and on its transactional streaming service for the general market, Blockbuster On Demand.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy is developing a spinoff series starring Lea Michele,
RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
“This will be announced soon,” an insider close to the situation revealed.
“They’re making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the
main Glee series itself — in that some of its core cast would also migrate to
the Lea Michele project as Glee is showing signs of aging.”
The hit FOX show already lost one of its main cast members earlier this year
when Cory Monteith passed away in a Vancouver hotel room after overdosing on
heroin and alcohol.
In the four months since Michele lost her boyfriend, she recently revealed that
it was actress Kate Hudson who was her pillar of strength during the
heartbreaking days immediately following Monteith’s death — and even invited her
to stay in her home.
“I called her and said, I don’t know where I’m going to go because my house is
swarmed [with reporters],” 27-year-old Michele told Elle magazine. “She was
like, ‘Oh, you’re going to stay at my house.’ Like it was nothing.
“She let my family stay there, and any of my friends. She made sure that in the
refrigerator were my favorite juices. I’ll never really be able to thank her,
truly, for what she did for me.”
A spinoff show be the fresh start Michele needs to move on from the tragic death
“This is definitely happening,” the insider said.
Taissa Farmiga never planned to follow in her big sister Vera Farmiga's footsteps and become an actor. It just sort of happened. Following her debut in Vera's film Higher Ground, Taissa, 19, landed the role of Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott's daughter, Violet Harmon, on the first season of Ryan Murphy's macabre FX series American Horror Story. After taking a break from the show during season two, Farmiga is back as Zoe Benson – a witch with a very unique power – in American Horror Story: Coven, arguably the series' best season to date. Rolling Stone sat down with the actress to talk witches, social media and her on-set besties.
Connie Britton recently said she's been talking to the Horror Story folks about possibly returning this season. What would that mean to you?
I would absolutely love it. Wow! I've never even thought about that. I had such a good time with her on season one. I think she's incredible. Wow. That'd be fun!
How are Zoe Benson and Violet Harmon different? How are they similar?
They're both introverted. They're not out-there, crazy people, although Violet has her sarcasm and she's very blunt, so she has that to fall back on. Zoe doesn't have that. She's not quite as confident in that sense. She's the sweet girl of the bunch. She's got a heart and good intentions, but she's not really the Alpha Dog. She's still trying to gain her confidence, but even the weakest can learn to fly. Hopefully she starts learning soon. [Laughs]
Which one was more fun to play?
That's like me asking my mom if I'm her favorite daughter: She always says she doesn't have a favorite. But I've got a special place in my heart for Violet. It was my first real job after working with my sister, so of course I have a special place for her. Zoe is something different. She's starting to become a little more badass in this next episode, so that's always fun.
What was your first thought when you found out what type of power Zoe was dealing with?
She kind of got the short end of the stick there. [Laughs] Ryan [Murphy] hinted at it in a conversation we had back in January and I was so excited to get the script. But then I read it and I was like, "Woah. How much crazier can this show get?"
You may not want to say that to Ryan Murphy.
I know! Who knows what he would pull out of his hat.
By all means Fox's Sleepy Hollow should not work. It's a nutty show about a Washington Irving character and the apocalypse. But somehow it does. And while it doesn't need you to start watching—it has steady ratings and a second season has already been ordered—you should you. Here's why.

[Spoiler (click to open)]Sleepy Hollow Exclusive: Ichabod's Clothes Are Finally Coming Off — But There's a Twist!
Sleepy Hollow is taking Ichabod Crane to the cleaners — literally.
Executive producer Alex Kurtzman tells TVLine exclusively that the character will shed his trademark — and likely odorous — period garb before the end of the season (albeit temporarily).
“Ichabod’s clothes are his security blanket, his tie to the past,” Kurtzman says. “That being said, he will soon discover the joys of dry cleaning and the grave injustice of the bill that accompanies it.”
This will mark the first major scrubbing Ichabod’s duds have received since he was transported 200 years into the future (in Episode 2, he gave them a very light washing).
It’s not clear what Tom Mison’s Bloomingdales-averse alter ego will wear while his duds are being professionally treated, so feel free to let your imaginations run wild in the comments (my guess: tighty whities). And while you’re down there, tackle this divisive question: Do you think Ich should at some point update his wardrobe? Or are you of the opinion that the (circa-1700) clothes make the man?
The season of the witch won’t be the last for Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story.
FX announced Wednesday that the spooky smash (which has cast a spell on viewers this season) will return for a fourth season.
The current season, Coven, will conclude on January 29. The new season is slated to begin in late 2014.
AHS grande dame Jessica Lange has told Buzzfeed that the newly announced upcoming season will be her final one, but other cast information is not yet known. Based on past seasons, this fourth Story probably will include a mix of familiar faces and new blood.
Likewise, there are no details yet on the new plot of the series — which changes its story and setting every year — but executive producer Murphy has said that he may drop a hint in the final episode of this season.
During a live Catching Fire chat today on Google Hangout, Jennifer Lawrence debuted a new pixie cut hair style.
The short hair appears to also be back to her natural blonde color or at least close to it. Asked why she made the change, she said jokingly, “I did it just to make Francis mad,” referring to the Catching Fire and Mockingjay director. Then in a more serious tone she said that her hair had been fried from dying it to Katniss’ color and needed to start fresh. She also said it was at an awkward length prior to being cut.

For Caity Lotz, playing Arrow‘s Canary aka [Spoiler (click to open)]Sara Lance has not come without its bumps and bruises.
For though the actress has a martial arts background (in disciplines such as Tae Kwon Do and Muai Thai) and almost segued from a professional dance career (backing up the likes of Lady Gaga and Avril Lavigne) into stunt work, wielding a bo staff and the occasional makeshift kali sticks marked a teaching moment.

Doug Hutchison and his teen bride, Courtney Stodden, have split after two and a half years of marriage.
The couple caused controversy when they wed in 2011, because aspiring country singer Stodden was just 16 – 35 years younger than her husband.
"Courtney and Doug have announced they will become legally separate," her rep tells PEOPLE. "They live in separate bedrooms in the same home for now."
Stodden – who recently appeared on Big Brother in the U.K. and reportedly flirted with a fellow contestant on the reality show – was seen walking the couple's dog with former Lost star Hutchison in L.A. on Monday, but neither of them were wearing their wedding rings.
"As you know Courtney was married at a young age. Now, at 19, she's interested in exploring life as an unmarried single young adult – with the freedom to explore her independence," her rep explained to the Daily Mail.
The rep added that Hutchison supports Courtney 100 percent and will be co-managing her career, while they will be sharing custody of their dog, Dourtney.
"We love each other very much, want for each other's happiness, and will continue being the best of friends for life," the pair said.
Once again, America is reckoning with its original sin of slavery — this time with the critically-acclaimed movie, Twelve Years a Slave, which had its nationwide release last week. The movie has been lauded for its uniquely unflinching look at the brutality and inhumanity of slavery. What is not so unique about the unquestionably affecting film is that it tells the story of an enslaved man. When will we see a mainstream, big screen film that explores American slavery from an enslaved black woman’s perspective?
The few cinematic glimpses into the black, female slave experience have been rendered mostly through independent films and television or as a part of stories more broadly focused than slavery. The 1974 TV movie, The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, based on the Ernest Gaines book, begins with the eponymous Jane being freed post-Civil War. Cicely Tyson, the actress who portrayed Pittman, also played escaped slave and abolitionist Harriet Tubman in the 1978 miniseries, A Woman Called Moses. Haile Gerima’s Sankofa, which transports a woman back in time to experience life enslaved on a Southern plantation, was widely acclaimed at its 1993 debut, but never received a broad national release in the United States. And the 1998 film adaptation of Toni Morrison’s award-winning Beloved explores the lives of two women after their escape from slavery, dealing with their past lives in flashback.

Making the media rounds is the fashion industry’s effort to axe famed photographer and self-proclaimed “skeez” Terry Richardson from their roster after allegations of inappropriate work ethics were made, including the purported sexual offense of some of the models Richardson worked with in the past.
The call comes courtesy of Southampton upstart native Alice Ehrenfried, who launched a petition on Change.org last week calling upon major brands and magazines to stop condoning Richardson’s pornographic actions by giving him work.
The petition, aptly titled “Vogue, H&M, Mango, Supreme, & all other brands: Stop using alleged sex offender Terry Richardson as your photographer,” currently boasts just over 12,000 signatures, with a goal of 50,000.

Microsoft is just about ready to open its first retail store in B.C. And the tech giant has enlisted an American pop star to help launch its version of the Apple Store in Burnaby.
On Thursday (November 7) at 11 a.m., the Microsoft Store in Metropolis at Metrotown will welcome its first customers. But Kelly Clarkson fans (we know you exist) will want to get in line a bit earlier—some time after 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
That's because free tickets to the "Since U Been Gone" singer's exclusive concert, which will begin at 7 p.m. Friday in Swangard Stadium, will be handed out to the first 2,100 people in line. (The first 100 will each get a ticket to a meet and greet with Clarkson too.)
The new Microsoft Store is located on the ground level, near the grand court. Oakridge Centre already has a Microsoft specialty store, which is smaller than a retail store.

We recently got to chat with the lovely and talented Saoirse Ronan about her upcoming young adult adaptation "How I Live Now", which is kind of like what would have happened if Terrence Malick had directed "Red Dawn" (more from that interview soon). And while we had the young actress on the line we had to quiz her about a myriad of upcoming projects she has in the works, everything from the upcoming Wes Anderson joint "The Grand Budapest Hotel," to Ryan Gosling's directorial debut "How to Catch A Monster," to things that are in a more nebulous state of flux, like Joe Wright's "Little Mermaid" and the hotly rumored "Fantastic Four" and "Star Wars: Episode VII."
Of course we had to ask her about "The Grand Budapest Hotel," the Wes Anderson movie that was just announced as opening the Berlin Film Festival this February, and what we can expect from it. "It'll be very Wes Anderson. It'll be wonderfully Wes," Ronan said. "It's very quirky and everyone is a really interesting character. I play somebody called Agatha who works in a bakery and she makes courtesan chocolate and she's got a birthmark on her right cheek in the shape of Mexico. And she's the love interest of the Tony Revolori character, who's the main character, who helps Ralph [Fiennes] steal this painting that belongs to him. It's very grand and everything is very big and there's a lot of action. Plus everyone's amazing in it."

"It was family and friends: people I've known forever and people I met last year," he tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Among the people he's known forever: the other four members of 'NSYNC. Clad in black Calvin Klein tuxes, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake served as ushers, escorting the 300 guests to their seats.
Kirkpatrick, 42, proposed to Skladany, 29, in Italy last year. The couple selected the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando for their nuptials. "Our wedding had an Italian motif," he explains. "It's a special place to us."
Skladany, who wore a jewel-encrusted gown by Enzoni, chose a hand-carved wedding band with diamonds set in platinum. Kirkpatrick's featured black diamonds set in tungsten.
After the outdoor ceremony, the guests retreated to a huge ballroom decorated in white, ivory, merlot and gold. Dinner included teriyaki glazed beef medallions, shrimp scampi with roasted asparagus, and whipped potatoes.
The seven-tier cake, by cake designer Anna Cakes, was decorated in ivory, white and gold. Each tier was decorated differently with gold rhinestones, ivory scroll work, and hand-crafted, edible gold bows. The flavors: sweet lemon, coconut cake and yellow/fudge marble cake with Bavarian cream filling.

Queer artist Sia came under fire this week for her collaborative track with Eminem, "Beautiful Pain," which is featured on the controversial rapper's latest album, "The Marshall Mathers LP 2."
In response, the singer-songwriter has announced that she will donate the proceeds she receives from her work on the track to benefit homeless LGBT youth at the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center.
Sia told HuffPost blogger and N.Y. based D.J. Keo Nozari that "she was under the impression that Eminem’s alter-ego Slim Shady was performance art, and a thing of the past, asserting that she does not believe that Eminem is actually homophobic."
According to SheWired, the star's contribution will reportedly help fund "a 50-bed shelter, a transitional living program, medical care, meals, clothing, counseling, GED prep programs, job placement services and more, according to the release from the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center."
Eminem has been on the receiving end of harsh criticism for his use of the word "faggot" on the album, and his attempts to defend his use of the gay slur as "more like calling someone a 'bitch' or a 'punk' or 'a**hole.'"
Some individuals have even suggested that the rap superstar witness the reality of queer experience firsthand by being put on a suicide hotline for LGBT youth.

Brandon T. Jackson says 13 people on his US Airways flight will back up his story that a flight attendant hurled the "N" word at him and made another racial comment.
Brandon's rep tells TMZ ... the incident Monday did not go down the way the airline claims. The rep says he was NOT drunk, NOT loud, and NOT disruptive.
Here's the way Brandon says it went ...
He was running lines for a script he had with some random passenger who was sitting next to him. The flight attendant then accused them of being too loud, but Brandon says the noisy ones were actually in the row in front of them. So the "Tropic Thunder" star claims he then went to the back of the plane for sandwiches, and the flight attendant confronted him, told him she didn't care if he was Obama's son and he needed to sit down. He also says she hurled an epithet, "seemingly in jest." He claimed earlier she used the "N" word.
Brandon says the flight attendant beat him to the punch and complained to the pilot and when they landed he was questioned by authorities, who determined he was NOT intoxicated as the airline claimed.
Brandon says he has 13 passengers who waited around to back up his story. The airline tells us they stand by their story ... Brandon was being a disorderly, drunken douchebag.

"Sometimes it feels like there's three of us in here baby."
Diana said that, or words to that effect, and look what happened to her (erm what). Good lyric though.
This is a song that Britney Spears wrote with ('with') Sia and given Sia's increasing ineptitude in the whole songwriting 'arena' we expect Britney did most of the work here. So well done Britney for:
1. The melody - it's a cracker.
2. The tempo - it's mid, but it's not boring.
3. The lyrics - they are quite touching if you've had a drink or two.
And also well done Britney for:
4. The singing, which is very much on the right side of competent.
As for the score, 'Work Bitch' seemed like a 9 on a couple of listens but swiftly fell to a still-respectable 7 due mainly to poor structure and pacing, but 'Perfume' feels like an 8 that could end up as a 9, wouldn't you say?

"I worked really, really hard this week," Studdard, American Idol's second season winner, said when he stood on the scale. "I swam extra. I walked extra."
Unfortunately, he didn't lose the 11 pounds needed to stay in the weight-loss competition.
Studdard, who topped out at 462 pounds when she started the show, promised to continue to lose weight when he left the ranch. He still has a chance to compete for a $100,000 cash prize.
"I gave all I had this week, but it just wasn’t enough to keep me on the ranch," Studdard wrote in his weekly post for Parade mag. "I’m glad that I had the courage to come to the ranch and show the world that you’re never too far away to turn and go right. I may not be the Biggest Loser, but I am a champion!"

The past few weeks, Tom Hiddleston has gone from Times Square in Seoul to Times Square in New York City, with people showering the star of Thor: The Dark World with gifts, chocolates, artwork and, yes, requests for dance moves.
He has a knack for playing a popular god of mischief on the big screen, but he's not too bad at doing the Running Man dance, either.
"I never expected that Loki would be the opportunity I got to show off whatever small talents I have at organized flailing, but it's been that moment," Hiddleston, 32, says with a laugh. "Loki's dancing his way around the world."

Vanessa Carlton shared unfortunate news with fans today.
The singer, who recently announced she was pregnant, revealed on her Facebook that the reason behind canceling some of her tour dates was because she had lost her pregnancy. Carlton explained that she was "diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy, or in my case it was a fallopian pregnancy (the embryo settled in my tube, which is the width of a straw.) This is not considered a viable pregnancy, because the fetus cannot develop and it is a high risk situation for the mother because of the potential for tubal rupture and internal bleeding."
However, things seemed to be OK since doctors caught it early and took the necessary precautions to make sure everything went smoothly, however, on Monday, Oct. 28, things went downhill.
"...after the chemo shot and despite our best efforts, my tube started to rupture and I was experiencing internal bleeding...My doctor performed a successful surgery and removed my entire right fallopian tube."
She continued, "Unfortunately, today, a week to the day from my emergency surgery I started getting intense nerve pain in one of my incisions. I was all set to fly to Vancouver on Wednesday but, alas, I am not ready yet. So, sadly, I will need to cancel the first four dates of my November tour - this includes Vancouver, Bellingham, Portland and Seattle. I need to stay close to my doctors and the hospital in case this initial pain turns into something more serious. I'm ready to get back out there mentally though and if all goes even remotely as planned I will be ready for San Francisco."
Regardless of the situation, Carlton remains positive and appreciative of all the support.
"I'm so bummed about having to jank up this tour. It started off pretty great. My favorite even. Gimme a couple more days, I'll be ready. Thank you for all your support and understanding through this."
FilmDistrict has revealed this new “Last Call For Alcohol” clip from Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy.’ Arriving in cinemas on November 27th in the US and December 6th in the UK, the upcoming remake of Park Chan-wook’s cult classic stars the likes of Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson, Sharlto Copley, James Ransone, Lance Reddick, and Michael Imperioli. The original ‘Oldboy,’ released in 2003, won the much coveted Grand Prize Jury Award at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. The film is based on Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi’s 90′s manga series.
Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’ follows Josh Brolin’s character, Joe (Dae-su Oh in the original), a man who is kidnapped and imprisoned on his daughters birthday. For twenty years he is held captive, and upon his release must begin his journey to find the reason for his imprisonment. He soon finds out that his kidnapper has plans for him more tortuous than his solitary confinement. Sharlto Copley plays a mysterious billionaire out to destroy Joe’s life, while Elizabeth Olsen plays Marie, a caseworker who helps Joe investigate the past. Samuel L. Jackson plays the head of the motel where Brolin’s character has been held hostage.

Long considered unfilmable, Mark Helprin's novel "Winter's Tale" has been kicking around Hollywood waiting for someone to take it on. And that someone is Akiva Goldsman, the blockbuster producer ("Mr. And Mrs. Smith," "I Am Legend") has written the adaptation and is making his feature debut with the flick. And full credit to him, with the first trailer arriving this evening, it looks like he's poured all he's got into it.
Starring Colin Farrell, Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Jessica Findlay-Brown, the story follows a thief who breaks into a wealthy man’s home, sparking a relationship with the man’s terminally ill daughter, with the apocalypse, rainbow bridges, resurrection, reincarnation and a flying, time-travelling white horse all part of the narrative. On the one hand, the movie looks pretty great visually, and Crowe in particular looks like he's having fun skulking around as the baddie. On the other hand, for all the sweeping emotion and music, we still have no idea what the hell this is about.

Taylor Swift was the subject of some star-studded praise Wednesday as she picked up the Pinnacle Award at the 47th annual Country Music Association Awards.
The award goes to artists who take country music to a worldwide audience. Garth Brooks is the only previous winner. He won in 2005.
A group of country music's elite came on stage to present the honor to Swift, including George Strait, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley -- all of whom gave Swift a chance to open for them on the road a teenager.
A video salute followed with appearances by Justin Timberlake, Julia Roberts, Carly Simon, Ethel Kennedy, Ellen DeGeneres and Mick Jagger -- whose appearance made Swift shout.
