Amurika's Next Top Model 'The Guy Who Becomes a Bat' Recap

The Goodbye Girl

The models return home from judges' panel, and even though Jourdan feels good about having the top photo, she knows first place can be a tenuous position. Doe-eyed Nina was on top in weeks 10 and 11, and all it took was one lackluster photo for her to get eliminated. Jourdan is determined to not let her guard down. Jourdan asks Cory to share the Tyra suite with her. Cory is a bit taken aback given the fact that the two of them aren't especially close, but he says their shared affection for Nina is probably the primary reason she chose him. Jourdan considers Nina her closest friend in the competition. She equates her relationship with Renee with that of a sisterly bond. She says one minute they'll hate each other's guts, and the next, they'll be best friends. I don't recall seeing any bestie moments between those two. I'd agree their competitiveness could be equated with sibling rivalry. I could envision Renee as the attention-seeking Jan Brady while Jourdan is Marcia, the standard Renee can't quite live up to.

Riker to Direct Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D./Thor Crossover Ep

It’s official: Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD is doing a crossover episode with the upcoming film Thor: The Dark World.
After Dark World is released in theaters Nov. 8, the Nov. 19 episode of S.H.I.E.L.D., “The Well,” will continue where the film left off. Here’s the official description: “In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces–one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team.” 10bux says it’s Skye gaaaaag

The episode is directed by sci-fi TV luminary Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation), who previously directed an episode of S.H.I.E.L.D. co-creator Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse.

There’s a slew of announced guest stars in the episode, but none from Thor 2 (so no Chris Hemsworth stopping by to wave his hammer at Coulson) although I bet if they asked Hiddleston, he'd show up in costume before they even hung up the phone: “Peter MacNicol as Professor Elliot Randolph, Michael Graziadei as Jakob Nystrom, Erin Way as Petra Larsen, Toby Wilson as Neils, Alex Neustaedter as Maynard and Sylvia Brindis as Elena.”

For those of you who’ve already seen Thor 2, remember to keep those spoilers under a cut! <3

Little Mix's new album 'Salute': Our first impressions

The tricky second album is the one most acts dread, especially when expectations have reached fever pitch.

Little Mix offered up a very good debut pop album in the form of DNA this time last year, which helped them break through to international adoration.

However, following months of "it's a more mature sound" and "it's more R&B than our first", Digital Spy has had the opportunity to give follow-up Salute roughly 23 full plays - and we've jotted down a few of our initial thoughts below.

James Franco Pens Raunchy Essay on L.A.

For The Hollywood Reporter's first art issue, the actor-artist previews his 2014 Ohwow Gallery show through a photo collage and an essay where he says "I f-ed a million girls" in North Hollywood.

Los Feliz is cool, hipsters and dingy bars. There is a great French restaurant on Vermont called Figaro. House of Pies is pure shit food. Fred 62 is 24 hours, and they serve thick shakes. A waitress with pink hair asked me to the movies, and one time, at 2 a.m., I met a girl there from El Monte who would do me in the car when she drove into town.

West Hollywood is cool, gay. Halloween they go crazy all along Santa Monica Boulevard. I used to go to Buzz coffee and met a little psycho that said he was an artist; he harassed me, the little troll.

North Hollywood, in the Valley, just down from Universal Studios. What a shit pit wasteland. I took shitty acting classes there and f--ed 1 million girls. I knew a guy that lived in a shack among a bunch of shacks in the back of someone's house off Burbank Boulevard. He ran into a little money from his stepdad for molesting his sister when they were little, so he bought a gun and a huge fish tank.

Tolkien purist Evangeline Lilly talks new elf Tauriel (+ new still of Tauriel&Thranduil!)

It wasn’t so long ago that Evangeline Lilly was one of those strident J.R.R. Tolkien fans worried that Peter Jackson’s movie adaptations wouldn’t capture the poetic soul of the fantasy she so loved as a child growing up in Canada.

I was a bit of a Tolkien purist before Peter Jackson made the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy,” the actress said recently. “I was adamant that I wouldn’t see those films because there was no way that anybody was going to be able to re-create what I had imagined in my mind on the screen. I ended up being dragged to it for a big family Christmas thing and couldn’t believe how accurately he had portrayed everything that I’d ever imagined.”

Professor Says Doctor Who Helped to Reflect and Inform Our Religious Understanding Over the Years

Die hard Doctor Who fans who readily admit to worshiping the show may well have sympathy for recent claims that the long-running BBC sci-fi drama has aided our cultural understanding of religion.

Dr Andrew Crome, a lecturer in the History of Modern Christianity at the University of Manchester, says Doctor Who has given viewers a much wider understanding of many religious traditions during its 50-year history – and even recommends that it be used to help teach Religious Studies in schools.

Review of Yuna's New Album "Nocturnal"

Off-the-radar indie artists have a way of positively surprising listeners, and they often succeed in doing so without putting a strain on their professional image or limiting the amount of goodies in their music bag.

This trend rings true for Malaysian singer and songwriter Yuna. While other artists settle with bold yet bulgy antics tacked onto their artistry, the songstress, born Yunalis Mat Zara’ai, sticks to class and simplicity.
This approach has worked with the groundbreaking 2012 release of her self-titled album, and the goodies in her bag retain these ingredients in her new effort titled “Nocturnal.”

Adele can rap, will sue you if you hear it.

Move over Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea, there’s a hot new female rapper on the scene – and it’s only Adele.

That’s right, Adele.

Not only does the Skyfall star have a fine pair of lungs on her – as everyone knows – but she can spit rhymes too.

And, according to her close pal Tinie Tempah, the down-to-earth Londoner puts her cockney rhyming slang to good use in her raps, which showcase quite a potty mouth.

I bet. Have you heard Adele’s dirty laugh?

Apparently the Rolling in the Deep superstar has been sitting on her secret talent for two years after first giving Tinie and their rapper pal Labrinth a taster back in 2011.

Tinie let slip 25-year-old Adele’s secret emcee skills while filming Alan Carr’s Chatty Man TV show on Wednesday night.

Promoting new album Demonstration, Tinie, 24, revealed: “Adele helped me pick some of the songs for the album. She has a rap. She was with me and Labrinth in the studio when he recorded Earthquake.

“Nobody really knows this. She recorded a rap and she told us that if we ever played it to anyone she would sue us.

“So when you talk to her next, ask her about the rap. It is really filthy as well.”

Lana del Rey: "I did NOT reject Kanye's proposal"

Lana Del Ray NEVER told Kanye West she wouldn't perform during his proposal to Kim Kardashian ... but it does sounds like she said no to someone else.

Lana was heading into the Sunset Marquis in Hollywood last night when we asked about reports saying she turned Yeezy down.

L.D.R. quickly shot the rumors down saying, "I would never deny HIS request" ... but wouldn't say much more.

Conspiracy theory #1 -- Lana was offended Kanye didn't personally reach out.

Conspiracy theory #2 -- Momager Kris Jenner reached out to make it part of the TV show ... and Lana wasn't having it.

Got your own theory?  Sound off in the comments.

These People Used Blackface For Their Kanye West Halloween Costumes

Every year, our collective society holds its breath around Halloween hoping that this is the year people are informed enough to not wear blackface as part of their costume. Sadly, we'll have to wait until next year to see if this progression can come true. A quick cruise through social media brought up numerous instances of the racist and ignorant dregs of our society using blackface to dress up like Kanye West.

While a bunch of people had great Kanye West costumes that mimiced and parodied the various stages of Yeezy's style, there were simply too many people who used blackface to ignore. The subject has a deep history, and is something that anyone interested in race relations and history should read up on, but it's not something that should exist in the 21st century.

The worst part might be that these people proudly shared their racist costumes on social media, and either got encouraging feedback from their fellow barbarians, highlighted the positive reaction they got, or explained why this wasn't racist. Sorry, guys, but it is. Whether these were throwback Thursday posts or from last night, These People Used Blackface For Their Kanye West Halloween Costumes, and Are Gross.

'It's Not Easy Being Young': Miley Cyrus Defended By Godmother Dolly Parton

While the whole world continues to look on in horror at Miley Cyrus' extreme twerking and jaw dropping skills with a foam finger, Dolly Parton has insisted she has got her God-daughter's back insisting she would never preach or criticise the 20-year-old instead claiming she's simply “trying to find her own place and wings and learn to fly”.

The former Disney star has become the most talked about star on the planet this year being barraged with a swarm of bad press from critics for her wild child antics, but the country legend who is close friends with Miley's father Billy Ray has revealed she thinks the chart topping star is doing a pretty great job.

When asked if she has any words of wisdom for the tongue wagging starlet, Dolly told the London Evening Standard: "If she needs my opinion on something I will surely give it and there have been times we've talked.

"But I would never dream of calling her and saying, 'Well why are you doing this?' or, 'You shouldn't do this or that."

Instead, the 67-year-old defended Miley for taking such firm control of her career at such a young age, explaining: "I know she has thought this all through. We'll let her go and do her own thing.

"It's not easy being young," she added. "You've almost got to sacrifice your damn soul just to get anything done."

Is Dolly the coolest God mother ever or what?

Meanwhile Dolly Parton has announced she will be returning to the UK next June for a 13-date arena tour, prompting speculation she could be headlining next year's Glastonbury festival as their appears to be a coincidental space in her diary the very same weekend.

‘Thor: The Dark World’ Thunders to $45M, Pushes Disney to Overseas Box-Office Record

Skärmavbild 2013-11-02 kl. 21.43.58

The Marvel superhero sequel is running well ahead of the first film as it rolls out in 36 foreign markets and lifts studio past $2B for year

“Thor: The Dark World” has thundered to $45.2 million in its first three days at the overseas box office, and pushed Disney’s 2013 foreign box office total to a new record.

The early returns from the Marvel superhero sequel are running well ahead of the totals of the original film as it rolls out in 36 foreign markets this weekend.

The studio reported Saturday that its overall overseas grosses hit $2.314 billion Friday, marking the fourth consecutive year that Disney has surpassed the $2 billion benchmark overseas. The previous record was $2.302 billion, set in 2010.

The U.K. has been the strongest market for “The Dark World” so far, with $7.8 million since opening Wednesday, followed by France ($5.8 million) and Germany ($4.1 million).

The original “Thor” took in $450 million worldwide in 2011, with nearly 60 percent of that coming from abroad. “The Dark World” is expected to do even better, owing largely to the effect of Disney’s 2012 blockbuster “The Avengers.” The Marvel superhero mash-up gave a huge boost to “Iron Man 3″ earlier this year and will likely do the same for “The Dark World.”

Is Kanye West an Internet Troll?

Lord knows I have tried to be patient with Kanye West as it’s becoming ever so clear that he can’t play spades at most peoples’ tables given he’s not working with a full deck. Still, we as a people – of any color and every persuasion – have got to find a tricked out trap door for this wayward Negro to fall through. Kanye may be arguably a creative genius, but that doesn’t make his increasingly asinine statements any less annoying.

Kanye West is dipped in megalomania, baked in delusion & frosted with f**k s**t. I’m so sick of some people – i.e. his most ardent fans – pretending otherwise. Kanye has morphed from what initially appeared to be a thoughtful, charismatic rapper who could mix catchy songs with meaningful commentary and take it mainstream into something reminiscent of the average Internet troll. The sort of person willing to say whatever “controversial” statement he can conceive without any real thought of its accuracy or whether or not it contradicts whatever musing is made after it.

It’s okay to think highly of yourself, and it’s equally fine to share that admiration for your significant other, but Kanye West ought to be arrested for public masturbation following his appearance on KIIS FM’s On Air with Ryan Seacrest. I don’t know why walking ego trip believes he and Kim are “the most influential with clothing,” but I do know anyone, much less a Black man, who would denigrate one of the most visible Black women in the world to a swimsuit Instagram challenge might need to down a bleach cocktail should he not find the missing piece in his brain that’s clouding his judgment.

Kanye didn’t have to single out Michelle Obama. He could’ve easily argued that as the person largely responsible for the integration of celebrities into Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour ought to recognize that the notion of celebrity has evolved, and thus should perhaps reconsider her anti-Kardashian stance. But he didn’t and willingly targeted FLOTUS, which may make Kim smile, but doesn’t do much for his half-Black daughter who benefits from all that Michelle Obama represents to the world.

Photographer Richard Corman: I always knew Madonna was special

Madonna in New York in 1983 (Picture: Richard Corman)
Raped at knifepoint on a rooftop, held-up at gunpoint, repeatedly burgled… a recent account of Madonna’s early days as a struggling artist in New York made for harrowing reading.

The Michigan-born singer moved to the Big Apple in 1978 at the age of 19 and found it a daunting place. ‘New York wasn’t everything I thought it would be,’ she wrote in October’s Harper’s Bazaar. ‘It did not welcome me with open arms.’

But Madonna NYC 83, a new book by iconic photographer Richard Corman, shows the singer soon put that rocky start behind her.

By 1983, she was firmly ingratiated as part of New York’s bustling Lower East Side collective of artists and creatives, casting herself as a Downtown deity with the talent and ruthless ambition to become the most successful female pop artist of all time.

Corman’s book is a captivating portrait of Madonna on the cusp of fame. He photographed the singer on the recommendation of his mother, a casting director who had seen her audition for a film role.
