Sleepy Hollow Q&A: Nicole Beharie Hints At The ‘Bevy Of Demonic Forces’ To Come

She saw her boss and mentor lose his life due to a Headless Horseman, had to team up to fight off evil with a breeches-wearing man who’d never eaten a donut, and most recently, incinerated a corpse witch with centuries old dynamite, but Lt. Abbie Mills is still standing and going strong on Fox’s fall hit “Sleepy Hollow.”

“I think a lot of people are watching and they’re kind of responding and following her journey because they’re sort of like, ‘What would you do? How would you exist in these circumstances?’” actress Nicole Beharie, who plays Abbie, told Access Hollywood.

“And it’s honestly a lot of fun,” she added of making the show.

The new series teams up Nicole’s Abbie alongside Brit Tom Mison’s Ichabod Crane as the two witnesses who are fighting to stop the apocalypse. Each week brings another challenge for the cross-centuries pair, who’ve had to scrap with the supernatural — a Horseman, a demon in the mirror and even the reanimated Andy (John Cho), who came back to life in Episode 2, to fight for the dark side. Abbie has the added challenge of giving Ichabod, who last walked the earth in the late 1700s, a crash course in modern inventions. And, in our new interview, Nicole addressed everything from Abbie’s caring, informational Post-Its on lamps and showers, to where the Headless Horseman has gone.

So Corbin is going to be to Abbie what Katrina is to Ichabod. I hope the Sheriff is more helpful than Katrina's cryptic ass.

McDonalds No Longer Packaging Soda With Kids Happy Meals

It was always a treat when we were allowed to get McDonald’s growing up, not only for the fast food burgers and fries but for the sugary soda that came with a Happy Meal. But McDonald’s is closing that chapter, it says, to start a new one, where it says it will only market milk, water and juice with the kids’ meals.

Parents can still order a soda with their child’s meals — there won’t be a sugar bouncer glaring at them from the sidelines to whap anyone if they do — but Mickey D’s says in a press release that sodas won’t be advertised or promoted visually in any ads or on in-store materials either, it says in a new press release.

The change was announced and made in partnership with The Alliance for a Healthy Generation (founded by the Clinton Foundation and the American Heart Association) and was announced yesterday by the president and CEO of McDonald’s, Don Thompson, and former U.S. President Bill Clinton in NYC.

It’s part of a wider initiative that McDonald’s has committed to, with the goal of offering more balanced food and beverage options. Customers will also be able to ask for a side salad, fruit or vegetable instead of french fries in value meals

Iggy Azalea Cancels New Zealand Opening Shows For Queen Bey's Tour

Iggy Azalea will no longer open for Beyonce when The Mrs. Carter Show rolls into New Zealand. She withdrew from the tour this morning (Septmber 27), cryptically tweeting: “I personally really wanted to come, but sometimes I don’t get to make the choices.” Her loss is 2009 Australian Idol winner Stan Walker‘s gain.

He could barely contain his excitement, jumping on Twitter to exclaim: “Opening 4 Beyonce… Praise God man.” The “Change Your Life” femcee is still joining the tour in Australia. Which will be a relief for hometown fans of the Aussie rap diva.

Rockstar: GTA 5 police are not racist

GTA V developer Rockstar has been forced to come out and defend Los Santos’s police force against claims of racial discrimination from gamers.

The world has been absorbed by the free-roaming game over the past week, which has broken sales records and been critically-acclaimed for its immersive gaming experience and realism.

Some players have been irked by what they see as racial profiling by the in-game police however, purportedly experienced when playing as the game’s only black protagonist, Franklin.

The Grand Theft Auto series is known for its satire and social commentary, but Rockstar insists the in-game police do not have a proclivity towards arresting black people.

The developer told Buzzfeed: ‘This is absolutely false, the in-game police don’t treat one lead character any differently from the others.’

More likely, players choosing to commit crimes in broad daylight with assorted weapons might be the reason for excessive police attention, something that can be remedied with this painfully obvious but useful GTA tip that surfaced earlier in the week.

How Victoria's Secret Models Get Ready for the Catwalk

It’s pretty clear that the Victoria’s Secret models who hit the catwalk for the label’s annual fashion show, set for Dec. 10, this year, are at the top of their class. But now we also know that the women, dubbed "Angels," have to really sweat it out to get their wings. That's because the casting process is "quite terrifying for them," creative director Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou told Vogue UK on Monday. "The final decision is made by [a team], sitting at this long table in a room with really harsh lighting and they have to walk towards us and away from us. They all have to do it — even the contracted girls — and it's incredibly nerve-wracking for them." She added that making the cut is “about being show-ready" and that “it's really like being an Olympian — they have to be in peak condition. It's not about being thin or anything like that — it's about being ready to perform and be the best you can be in that moment.” Here's what the Angels slated for this year's show have said about how they get there.—Beth Greenfield, Shine Staff.

Lindsay Ellingson

Earlier this month, the 28-year-old told Fashionista she likes to go against the grain: "I think it’s sexier and more feminine to be more full. So I add like almond butter, peanut butter, protein shakes to my diet, just to feel a little sexier and curvier." Although the model said she "steps up" her workouts in preparation for the show, she added: "I try not to stress about it because that’s never good."

Damon Wayans Jr.-Jason Winer Comedy Lands at Fox

The half-hour centers on two single dads who move in together and struggle to find the balance between being responsible parents and debaucherous bachelors.

Fox is betting big on another buddy comedy.

The network has made a pilot production commitment for Man/Child, a half-hour from Happy Endings' Damon Wayans Jr. and Jason Winer. The project centers on two single dads who move in together and struggle to find the balance between being responsible parents and debaucherous bachelors.

Man/Child is set up at 20th Century Fox TV in association with Winer's Small Dog Picture Company. Wilfred showrunners Reed Agnew and Eli Jorne will write and executive produce, with Winer and Wayans Jr. on board as EPs. Winer, who is under an overall deal at 20th, will also direct the pilot. Joining them is Mosaic's Michael Lasker and Christie Smith, who will serve as nonwriting executive producers on the effort.

The move comes as Fox has made a concerted push into the male comedy space (cos we all know that area has been under-served for years - op). Thus far this season, the net's Andy Samberg-led Brooklyn Nine-Nine has helped to broaden a night of comedy that already airs femme-focused New Girl and The Mindy Project (Wow - to 'femme-focused' comedies, I can see why they needed a palete cleanser - op).

Professional Critics Weigh In On How They Think Breaking Bad Is Going To End

As you know, the series finale of "Breaking Bad" airs this Sunday night. "Breaking Bad" is a fun show to watch. (OK, yes, it's also quite emotionally agonizing as of late -- but, yes, still fun.) It's also a fun show to write about. Of course, very few of us are lucky enough to get the chance to write about "Breaking Bad" on a regular basis. (This is why we are envious of Mo Ryan. Then again, we are all envious of Mo Ryan, regardless of "Breaking Bad.")

Well, there are plenty of entertainment writers and/or journalists out there who love "Breaking Bad," yet don't have a bully pulpit to announce their predictions for this Sunday. Writers who, maybe, spend their time writing about movies instead of television. Well, we all have our (most likely wrong) theories, too. So, here are the predictions of 15 esteemed colleagues from the New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, New York magazine, and other outlets around the internet to share what they think is going to happen this Sunday.

Gus From 'Breaking Bad' Wants Walt's Head on a Pike.

In anticipation of the Breaking Bad series finale on Sunday, September 29th, Rolling Stone will publish an exclusive interview with a new cast member every day, Monday through Friday. Do you root for Walt, or against him?

Oh, that's such an interesting question. I root for Walt, because I want him to become enlightened. When it doesn't come, I hate him more. [Laughs] If people survive their journeys, and the challenges that have been placed in front of them, they can be forgiven. So I watch the show hoping Walt will see the light. And when that doesn't happen, I want him to die. [Laughs] He is, at this point, irredeemable. I hope for some extreme, poetic justice. The ending I want is to see his head on a pike.

You might get your wish. Vince made it clear that he has no sympathy left for Walt.
To hear Vince speak about Walt in this disparaging way makes me sad! [Laughs] I've always had this feeling that, as a writer, you love all of your characters. And at some point, I imagine that Vince has turned against Walter, and Vince is going to exact his revenge. There is a horror coming, and let's hope it's one that will  remind us that this road is not one to be traveled by the faint-hearted.

When I asked Vince how a nice guy such as he is able to create Breaking Bad, he said, "I probably have more Walt in me than I let on."
This is why I created Gus the way I did. We're a mixture of good and evil. And I can see a bit of that in Vince as well. Recently, I was at ComicCon, and I came into a photo shoot as the Breaking Bad cast was still there.  The first thing I noticed was what Vince was wearing: a jacket that resembled, almost to the tee, what Gustavo Fring was wearing on the day he died. And I had a little jealousy, because I thought, "Oh, there's the real Vince. He's part Gustavo and part Walter, and he's wearing my fucking jacket." [Laughs]

SOURCE: Rolling Stone

Fave responses: (1) Gus knowingly/purposely using "a man provides for his family" to manipulate Walt, since that's central to Walt's delusional way of justifying his crimes. The manipulation is effective/frightening since Gus' own criminal personae seldom harps on  "family". (2) The bit about "rooting for Walt in hopes of him getting enlightened, only to end up hating him when he doesnt. SO TRUE, UGH.

Trying to digest the bit about "imagining Gus to have European sensibilities" (made by both RS and Esposito); though.

A Tale of Two Kanyes (or: The Importance and Meaning of Kanye West's Latest Interviews)

"Don't do no press/but I get the most press." - Kanye West, 2012

"Soon as they like you/make 'em unlike you." - Kanye West, 2013

- By now we know: When we're dealing with Kanye, we're dealing with a different stripe of press offensives.

Or not.

See, it's the kind of thing that cuts both ways: On some days, Kanye West seems absolutely full of shit. And on other days, Kanye West exhibits the kind of nuance as a celebrity—tinged with real honesty and truth—that's been all but extinguished from our culture by overbearing publicists, record labels, movie studios, brand endorsement deals, and so on.

Take, for example, that first quote from "Mercy" (op: still blast this shit in ma car): Kanye rapped it around a time that he had legitimately shrugged off the press, given them the cold shoulder. In Spring 2012, still sore from the harsh questioning he faced on national television in the wake of the Taylor Swift incident the summer before, he wasn't doing interviews. But still, yes, everything he was doing was getting tons of press.

But "Mercy" also came at a moment when all of the people duking it out for top dog status in rap right now were still on either side of the wider cultural parabola. When "Mercy" dropped, Wayne, Jay, Em, and Drake were, publicly, pretty quiet. Meanwhile, newcomers like Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Macklemore, Earl Sweatshirt, J. Cole, and Wale were just beginning to make noise.

Meet Alexandra Dilworth of “The New Atlanta” – CDL Excluisve Interview

There’s been a lot of buzz going around for this new docu-series on Bravo. Don’t worry it’s not another Housewives spin-off. It’s called “The New Atlanta.” Targeted to a much younger group than for the ladies who lunch here’s the young adults that party hard on the weekend and then return to an entry level job on Monday.  That’s right we’ll be seeing the upcoming trendsetters living in their 20s. God, don’t we both love and hate this age.

The reality show also introduces to whole batch of new up and comers. One of whom we fortunate to talk. For a quick Q and A we got to speak to Alexandra Dilworth. The woman already making waves by not hiding her marital ambitions. But before to drop ourselves into that arena I ask Alex, as she liked to be called, to tell us more about “The New Atlanta”. She helped by explaining the difference between her show and The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

We all know it would be painful to get on Nene Leakes’ bad side. Her show is about the young, hot, and single newbies trying to break their way into the business and make their name. Where better than to attempt the corporate ladder than Atlanta. With pride in her voice Alex had no problem saying Atlanta is a hot city right now.

Avril Lavigne turned 29 yesterday, performs on Jimmy Kimmel and Extra

We had to do a double take when we saw Avril Lavigne decked out in a green leather pleated dress and very little makeup.

The newlywed was wearing her usual rocker-punk style in said dress, black platform combat boots and a toned down makeup look while performing on "Extra" on Tuesday.

Chad Kroeger's partner-in-crime is known for not showing her face in public (or in music videos) without a ton of black eye makeup so we were quite surprised when the 28 29 year-old only wore winged liquid eyeliner and nude lips.

So what gives? Perhaps the "Smile" singer is going for a new, mature look now that she's married and has finally gotten sick of a style which she has rocked since she was a teenager.

But judging by her recent wacky getups (and the heavy eye makeup she wore at her wedding), Brody Jenner's ex isn't likely to ditch her signature style anytime soon.

Teen Mom 2 Weds

Kailyn Lowry opens up about marrying Javi Marroquin

On September 21, Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin married in a beautiful aquatic ceremony in front of family and friends. The couple was already legally married for over a year before the large wedding ceremony, but that didn’t matter to them. The two, who have appeared on “Teen Mom 2,” wanted the opportunity to celebrate their love with those close to them. On September 25, MTV released a handful of photos of the big day, while IN Touch released an exclusive article with the Kailyn Lowry.

The photos released were taken by Kate Hedrick, a Pennsylvania based photographer. She has worked with Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin in the past shooting photos of the pair all dressed up (many felt these were engagement type photos, although that was never confirmed) and also shooting maternity pictures for Kail. The “Teen Mom 2” star also posed for the photographer “Beauty is Sizeless” campaign showing pictures of women who are all shapes and sizes. Her photos are always gorgeous and that rang true for the wedding photos as well.

MTV posted 27 photos giving fans a taste of the big day. Photos of the venue were shows as was a photo of Kail’s gorgeous mermaid wedding dress.

Barbara Walters has a diva moment with Katy Perry

Katy Perry got on Barbara Walters's bad side when she showed up late to an interview. The 28-year-old singer was named one of Walters's Most Fascinating People in 2011, around the same time Russell Brand filed for divorce.

"I shouldn't have done the interview," Perry tells Billboard Magazine. "I was playing Madison Square Garden that same night, and I knew that the end of my marriage was coming. I was just exhausted and stressed.”

Perry had told her team that she was running late, but Walters apparently never got the memo and showed up at the original time.

When she finally arrived, Perry says she immediately apologized, but Walters wasn't having it.

"She said to me, 'You know, I’ve only ever waited for one other person this long, and you know who that person was? Judy Garland. You know how she turned out, right?'" Perry recalls. "I was like, ‘Oh, snap! Yes, b---h!'"

If you were hoping to dress like a stylish Washingtonian without having to endure a 21-hour Senate speech, now you can.

The department stores and Scandal will kick off the collaboration with an event on Oct. 2, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz.

"I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with the Saks team in bringing the Scandal characters to life in their windows," said Paolo in a statement. And I resent that. That there has to be some downside to your personality or lifestyle if you’re a woman and successful. But I’m not gonna say to my guy friends ‘No, I can’t go to lunch because people will say we’re dating.’ I just reject the idea I have to change the way I live my life.”

Hit or myth for the new Atlantis?

Desperate to fill the void left by Merlin, the BBC has turned to a Greek classic for inspiration, says Olly Grant.

“So this is the Throne Room of Atlantis,” says producer Julian Murphy, stepping into a vast film studio. What we’re looking at is an old Tesco warehouse near Chepstow, which doesn’t exactly scream antique glamour. The real magic, though, will arrive later – principally via the alchemy of modern computers, and some of the biggest green screens ever seen in British TV.

“This will be a huge, colonnaded room on top of the city,” says Murphy, stirring mental pictures of teeming temples, oracles and minotaurs. If you were wondering how the BBC was planning to replace its autumn ratings banker, Merlin, this is the answer.

Merlin ended last year when it became clear that the cast wouldn’t sign up to a sixth season. For the BBC, this meant the end of a lucrative franchise: the show sold to 183 territories around the world, making it one of the most successful exports in TV history. When it came to finding a replacement, then, the solution was simple: go back to the people with the golden goose – or, in this case, fleece.

Saturday Nostalgia Post !! 50 ( 5 )Things That You Did Because of '90s TV Shows

Raise your hand if you broke an arm climbing through your best friend's window like Sam on Nickelodeon's Clarissas Explains It All. Or maybe you weren't that adventurous, and instead just decorated your bedroom with Keith Haring posters, like the kids show heroine. If you or a friend had these ideas, congratulations, you were born in the late '80s (or early '90s).

Raised by '90s television (instead of, um, parents), you likely had a variety of colorful ideas about how to live and have fun growing up. Hopefully you weren't raised exclusively by D-Generation X, and were exposed to activities that didn't result in injuries/detention/ass-kickings.

You probably drew on sources as wide-ranging as Salute Your Shorts and Charmed. You probably did all of the following because '90s TV shows told you to.

Just over two weeks ago, we reported that Warner Bros. has expanded their creative partnership with JK Rowling to produce and deliver a new series of films calledFantastic Beasts that will document the life of Newt Scamander, the author of the schoolbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Now, we are learning that Warner Bros. has added the following trademarks to their possession: Quidditch Through the Ages, Newt Scamander, Wimbourne Wasps, Chudley Cannons, Kennilworthy Whisp (author of Quidditch Through the Ages), and Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Additionally, Warner Bros. reserves the rights with these trademarked names in the following areas:

This news comes as no surprise but is VERY exciting since it could mean additional film opportunities for the franchise in numerous ways. While we certainly hope for even more movies of the wizarding world, this news DOES NOT mean that Warner Bros. will in fact make anything other than the Fantastic Beasts film series, but we can certainly hope they make more films.
