Tamar Braxton is officially a no.1 charting artist thanks to her album, "Love and War," topping at least two coveted Billboard charts.
According to Nielsen Soundscan, the "All The Way Home" singer's album sold 114,000 copies in its first week, leading to no.1 positions on both the Billboard R&B Albums and R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts.
Beyond that, her album is the first from a female R&B artist to sell over 100,000 copies since Alicia Keys' "Girl On Fire," which debuted over six months ago.
"She tallies the largest sales week for a female R&B/hip-hop album since last November, when Alicia Keys' "Girl on Fire" bowed with 159,000," reports Billboard.
As previously reported, Ariana Grande topped this week's Billboard 200 with her debut album, "Yours Truly." While the album was a big success, moving 138,000 copies first week, it was actually downloaded more than Braxton's.
According to Billboard, Tamar Braxton's "Love and War" actually sold more physical units in stores like Best Buy and Walmart."Grande's sales were especially strong in the digital world
, as 108,000 of her first-week sales were downloads, or 78%, of her debut. Comparably, Braxton's album only moved 51,000 downloads: 45% of her debut. Braxton's album, however, performed strongly as a CD with physical retailers like Walmart, Best Buy and Target. Because of that, Braxton actually has the No. 1-selling physical album this week (63,000), while Grande's set is the No. 7 physical seller (30,000). On the Digital Albums chart, Grande is No. 1, while Braxton is No. 2," reports Billboard.source
