First gorgeous ‘The Book Thief’ poster released, shows Liesel in the act of thievery

By Marama Whyte

The first movie poster for the film adaptation of The Book Thief has been released.

The first poster features newcomer Sophie Nélisse as Liesel Meminger, pictured against a background of Nazi Germany. In the poster, we see Liesel having just committed the act of thievery – she has just stolen the book she is holding from the book burning taking place behind her.

Author Markus Zusak commented on the poster, saying “It’s gorgeous and stunning, and perfect in its image of Liesel, caught in the act of book thievery.”

He added, “If you could see me now, you’d catch me smiling…and why? She’s many things, that girl, but to me, right now – she looks ready.”

We think so too.

Our Dream 'Hey Arnold!' Cast In Real Life

Nickelodeon nostalgia, anyone?

From 1996 to 2004, kids got their kicks from Craig Bartlett's cartoon "Hey Arnold!" The show focused on the quietly cool fourth grader Arnold, his grandparents' city dwellings and Arnold's kooky classmates.

"Hey Arnold!" covered a laundry list of adolescent issues -- relentless bullies, lovestruck crushes and a grueling search for adoptive parents. These relatable storylines struck a chord with audiences and cemented the show's cult status so much that a feature film, "Hey Arnold! The Movie," was released in June 2002

Laura Prepon Will Return For Only One Episode Of "OITNB"

Last month, fervid fans of Orange Is the New Black — and they all seem to be quite fervid — were heartbroken to find out that Laura Prepon will not be coming back to the show as a series regular.

It is a safe assumption that they will be even sadder to learn that, as of now at least, Prepon is scheduled to appear in only one episode of Season 2 to wrap up Alex’s storyline, according to a source close to the show. The beloved Netflix series, developed by Jenji Kohan from Piper Kerman’s prison memoir of the same name, began filming in New York in late July. Prepon has not yet returned to complete Alex’s story. (That doesn’t mean Alex’s denouement will be later in the season; the show is not filming in order.)

Alex’s relationship with Piper (Taylor Schilling) was a central focus of the Netflix show’s first season. But Prepon had signed up for only a one-year contract, and, in the end, didn’t commit to more.

Prepon’s publicist did not respond to a request for a comment. Netflix, which at the time called BuzzFeed’s first report about Prepon’s departure “not accurate,” also did not return an email.

Yeezus got his old voice back - goes on rant at Pusha T's release party

New York City’s hip-hop tastemakers were all out tonight. The usual album listening party filled with groupies and stranglers didn’t happen for Pusha T. Nah. When it was time for the world to hear "My Name Is My Name," the guest list was only for the chosen. Masterminded by DONDA, Def Jam and G.O.O.D. music hosted P’s official listening for his highly anticipated solo album at the Industria Superstudio in NYC. Similar to the YEEZUS event, guests were shuttled into a bare art space with little warning of what was about to happen. We were told Kanye was going to be the host of the evening, but when the first song dropped, Yeezy was still nowhere in sight. But before we could even blink, Ye popped up right behind Pusha T like the holy ghost. And, within minutes Kanye West let off one of the wildest rants of his career. Trust, you’ve never seen Mr. West go this hard for his one of his artists. My Name Is My Name drops on Oct. 8.

Gonna start ending all my conversations with "THIS IS PUSHA T."

Adriana Lima Gets Flustered Over Virginity Question When Promoting New Beverage At HuffPost

As a Victoria's Secret Angel, Adriana Lima is accustomed to baring it all. But even supermodels get bashful about something, and for Lima, it's her sex life.

During an interview about her partnership with AMAzon Beverages, Lima giggled her way through host Marc Lamont Hill's questions about her virginity, which she famously held onto until marrying Serbian basketball player Marko Jarić at 27.

"Oh my god, we're going there?" she said. "You make me blush. I'm shy. I'm shaking now."

The intimate question even led Lima to ask Hill how often he wonders about the topic.

"Do you talk with girls like that? Like, 'Are you a V-word?'" she said.

James Wan Quitting Horror After ‘Insidious: Chapter 2’

The Conjuring director James Wan is currently one of the strongest directors working in the horror genre. However, his days of crafting scary movies are drawing to a close. The filmmaker is currently promoting his upcoming horror flick Insidious: Chapter 2. Although he’s made a career out of terrifying the masses, Wan recently said he’s ready to make a change. This means the Insidious sequel could be his final foray into the genre.

“I’m going to go on record and say I am finished with the horror genre. ‘Conjuring’ and ‘Insidious 2′ are my two last scary movies. I spent the last ten years of my life doing this. It’s time for a change,” the director explained to Moviefone.

This means James Wan probably won’t be involved with either The Conjuring 2 or Insidious: Chapter 3. However, just because he’s finished with horror doesn’t mean he’s turning his back on the medium altogether. The filmmaker made headlines earlier this year when he was hired to bring Fast and Furious 7 to the big screen. After spending quite a bit of time on the franchise, director Justin Lin ultimately decided to take a break. Wan was eventually brought in as his replacement.

Although he doesn’t have much experience working on a huge big-budget action flick, the folks at Universal Pictures seem to think he’s the right guy for the job. Judging from his recent comments, Wan seems excited about the project. “I want to honor that world and be mindful of how much fans enjoy that world. I don’t want to mess that up too much, but at the same time, I definitely would love to bring my own stamp to it. I think what I do best is, I love creating tension and suspense,” he explained.

These are both so bland and cliche that I can't even think up anything witty to say about them. At least she finally wised up and released an up-tempo song after 3 straight ballads. "Good Times" is the best chance she's had yet for some actual chart success since it's a straight up by-the-books country song.

    "Harry Potter" spin-off movies announced!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Warner Bros. announced on 12th September 2013 that J.K. Rowling would be making her screenwriting debut with 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', the first in a new film series which is part of their expanded creative partnership with J.K. Rowling. The films will be inspired by Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook of the same name, and will feature the book’s fictitious author, Newt Scamander.

“It all started when Warner Bros. came to me with the suggestion of turning 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' into a film. I thought it was a fun idea, but the idea of seeing Newt Scamander, the supposed author of 'Fantastic Beasts', realized by another writer was difficult. Having lived for so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt. As hard-core Harry Potter fans will know, I liked him so much that I even married his grandson, Rolf, to one of my favourite characters from the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood.

As I considered Warners’ proposal, an idea took shape that I couldn’t dislodge. That is how I ended up pitching my own idea for a film to Warner Bros.

Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.

I particularly want to thank Kevin Tsujihara of Warner Bros. for his support in this project, which would not have happened without him. I always said that I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about and this is it.”

Andy Cohen and Sean Avery Not Engaged According to Andy's Dad

After watching NeNe Leakes, Tamra Barney, Kim Zolciak and more of his employees tie the knot on-screen, could Andy Cohen be the next Bravo-lebrity to walk down the aisle?

Rumors have been running wild all week ever since an obscure gossip site posted a report claiming the Watch What Happens Live host was set to wed ex-NHL hockey player Sean Avery.

Cohen and Avery were coy on Twitter, refusing to confirm or deny the speculation in jokey tweets. But now, Andy’s dad, Louis Cohen, is speaking out to to put a stop to the speculation.

“That is not accurate information,” Louis tells Radar exclusively. “He is not engaged.”

Louis and his wife Evelyn, Andy’s mom, just returned to their Missouri home on Tuesday from a trip to New York City to visit Andy and Louis says his son addressed the gossip during their stay.

“Andy told me all these rumors are floating around, but he said it’s not true,” Louis insists.

Although, he does admit that his son’s been known to be good at keeping big secrets.

“Unless he’s keeping something from me,” Louis says. “But there really is no validity to [engagement] rumors.”

In fact, Louis insists, Andy and Sean are nothing more than friends. Asked if they were dating, he said, “That’s not necessarily true either. I’ve never even met Sean. Andy’s not dating anyone, to my knowledge. He’s just so busy.”

Nevertheless, Louis says that he can’t wait for Andy to be the star of his own Bravo wedding special.

“For his own benefit, I’d really like to see him end up with somebody,” Louis says. “But that’s not really my call!”

Lady Gaga Defends Miley Cyrus: “Lighten Up and Leave Her Alone!”

Strength in solidarity! Two weeks after Miley Cyrus made headlines for her raunchy and over-the-top MTV Video Music Awards performance, one of the night's other showstoppers—Lady Gaga—came to her defense during the Sept. 11 episode of Bravo's Watch What Happens Live.
When host Andy Cohen asked the 27-year-old "Applause" singer about Cyrus' provocative "We Can't Stop/Blurred Lines" medley, she replied, "I mean, I just think everybody need to lighten up and leave her alone. Because it's pop music. Everybody's entitled to their own artistic expression, and if you have a problem with it, just change the channel."

Gaga—no stranger to controversy herself—argued that Cyrus' persecution in the media and online has been unfair. "I don't understand the incessant need to constantly go on and on about hating things all the time because, what, she's 20 years old? And if anything, I give her props," the native New Yorker said. "You know, she's growing up in front of the entire world and maybe she's not so happy with stuff she did in her career when she was younger and she wants to be free, so let her do what she wants."

During the Watch What Happens Live after show, Gaga also cleared up rumors about her alleged feud with another pop star. "I'm a very big fan of Christina Aguilera," she told Cohen. "From the very beginning of when my career started, there was all this controversy about the two of us. I always felt that it was very unfair."

She continued, "All I know is that people were talking about Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga in the same sentence, and I was nobody! I just think it's very unfair of anyone to pit another woman against another woman, especially in the space of music when we are all just trying to be taken seriously."

"Christina is an incredible vocalist and an incredible artist," she added. "From me to her, I'm so sorry for anything that anyone ever said to her because of my existence. And I hope that she never felt any way about it, because when I was 15, I was singing ‘I Turn to You' at the top of my lungs trying to hit all her notes. So she was an inspiration to me to have a wider vocal range, and I just think it's all total nonsense the way that they do that."

X Factor Debuts to Series Low

Fox’s “The X Factor,” which tried to create some excitement for its third season by shaking up its judging panel one more time, stumbled out of the gate Wednesday with series-low ratings.

The singing competition, airing a single hour rather than its typical two, drew a 2.1 rating/7 share in adults 18-49 and 6.2 million viewers overall, according to Nielsen — down 25% in the demo from its first hour a year ago (2.8). It was down 38% from its two-hour average of last year (3.4).

“X Factor” was beaten head to head by the penultimate Wednesday episode of CBS’ summer series “Big Brother” (2.2/7 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall).

Steve McQueen talks 12 Years, the "British" perspective, breaking points, Ejiofor, Django, & Pitt

How did you first learn about Solomon Northup?
I wanted to tell a story about slavery. I thought, “How do I get an ‘in’ on this story? Okay, a free man who gets kidnapped into slavery...” What was interesting to me about that was to have the audience go with him and they become that person.

I was working with John Ridley on the script, and it was going well, but it was taking time. My wife said to me, “Why don't you look into true accounts of slavery,” her being a historian, of course. So we both researched it, and she came up with this book called “12 Years a Slave.” She said to me, “I think I've got it.” If anything was an understatement, it was that. Because when you have an idea, and then you see it in script form in your hands? I was trembling. Every page was a revelation.

I live in Amsterdam, where Anne Frank is a world treasure. [When I found this book,] I thought, “My God, this is Anne Frank, but 100 years earlier. Why did I not know this book?” But then I found out that hardly anyone knew this book; in fact, all the people I spoke to had no idea of the existence of this book. No one. And that's when I made it my passion to make this book into a film.

There have certainly been American depictions of slavery before—most notably, “Roots”—but nothing has ever been this unflinching. Do you think it took a Brit – an outside perspective -- to make this movie?
I think it's more complex than that. My parents are from Grenada, my mother and father; you know, this is the place where Malcolm X’s mother was born. My mother was born in Trinidad; the phrase “Black Power” was born in Trinidad. Harry Belafonte is from Jamaica. Marcus Garvey is from the West Indies. And there's this huge majority of my family living in the United States, so it's a little bit more complex than that. It's not about me being a Brit; it's about me being a part of that sort of diaspora.

Fiona Apple Covers "Pure Imagination" in New Chipotle Ad About Industrial Animal Farming

Way to pull on our heartstrings, Chipotle. We know we should all be making better food choices, but now we're feeling an overwhelming amount of sadness and guilt after watching this new short film.

Today, the burrito chain has announced a new mobile game, titled The Scarecrow, for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The game aims to educate and engage the public about food issues. The above film, which coincides with the game's launch, features Fiona Apple singing "Pure Imagination," originally from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."

This haunting ad builds upon Chipotle's first ad, featuring Willie Nelson singing Coldplay's "The Scientist," which had a similar anti-industrial food theme. While the Willie Nelson ad isn't exactly uplifting, we didn't experience sudden onset depression like we did when watching "The Scarecrow."

The eerie music, combined with the scenes of a somber factory (100% beef-ish!) produces a heavy-handed but effective result. The scarecrow grows increasingly sad as he sees chickens getting stuck with needles so they grow faster, and cows unable to move from their pens.

But then, after leaving the factory, he finds a fresh red pepper, growing in a bleak spot of land where no other fresh food is found. He's inspired to start cooking. Suddenly everything is beautiful again! The ad ends with the slogan above his new fresh food stand, "Cultivate a better world."

We're going to go to the farmers' market now. Oh, and eat at Chipotle, too.

Speechless @ the cover. Also, what do y'all get at Chipotle?

X Factor USA premiere audition videos

The U.S. X Factor has never been good, but tonight's relatively benign hour-long premiere suggested season 3 might not be terrible.

Sure, we haven't put out a Leona Lewis or a One Direction, but our X Factor doesn't have to suck, right? New judges, yo! Simon Cowell grimacing and barking at contestants "Do you work?" before leaning back in his self-satisfied bubble of nonchalance! Demi Lovato is still there! This can work, this time. Maybe. There's a chance.

Meet Destiny's Child member and Grammy-winning solo artist Kelly Rowland and Mexican pop princess/fingerless glove enthusiast Paulina Rubio -- two energetic sentient creatures who have thrillingly replaced season 2's judge-robots, L.A. Reid and Britney Spears. We didn't see too many antics from them tonight -- but the new ladies, along with seasoned veteran Demi Lovato, looked awake, alert, and ready to work for their massive paychecks. It's a huge improvement already.

Paulina Rubio Promises ‘Spiciness' For The X-Factor

The Mexican singer will officially crossover to the American market on Wednesday night, with the premiere of Fox's competition show, but the star isn’t planning to change a thing. “When Simon [Cowell] first approached me, I was so excited. I was surprised in the beginning and then I was really, really excited,” the star told reporters. “Of course it’s one of the biggest opportunities right now in my career. And I’m just so excited to see how everybody is embracing the news.”

The 42-year-old star has been the reigning “Queen of Latino Pop” for over 25 years and she thinks her lengthy career coupled with her fierce attitude is what will surprise “X Factor” fans the most.

The Stella McCryForHelp for goop Collection Review

My darlings, I know that I have been gone for a while and I do so apologize. As for the rumors that say I was in a Taiwanese prison camp, well, I won't dignify them with a response. However, I would like to go on record saying that IF I were, any and all charges brought against me were erroneous and unjust. Furthermore, if pandas aren't allowed to be smuggled out of the zoo and kept as pets, as an American citizen, I should have been informed of this when I entered the country. But that is neither here nor there, all that matters now is that I am back and the absolute lack of inspiration presented by the Stella McCartney for goop line has truly inspired me. I feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind, so white and thin, wanting to start again. So here is to new basics, new beginnings and being granted a full pardon.

Have you ever wanted to look exactly like everyone else but have all this money that you don’t know what to do with? Well you’re in luck! The Stella McCartney for GOOP black wool blazer is here to sop up those rich, white, organic tears with its complete and utter basicness. From the color to cut to the one button closure and side flap pockets, there is absolutely nothing creative or unique about this jacket. It’s the ultimate “fuck you and your money, dad” statement piece. It’s perfect for business meetings for your new “jewelry line,” officiating a gay wedding or a casual drug overdose. It works for every occasion and no occasion at all.

Which Hollywood actors have names that sell movies overseas?

From The Hollywood Reporter's "A-list" Issue

On Sept. 9, Keanu Reeves was in Toronto pitching foreign distributors on his new movie Passengers. He's just one actor whose star might have dimmed in the U.S. but still burns overseas, where the decision to pick up a film can depend entirely on the above-the-title actor.

In addition to usual suspects like Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis and Matt Damon, sales agents say the names who matter overseas include somewhat surprising rising stars Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as well as aging stalwarts Robert De Niro, Liam Neeson and John Travolta.

Actresses with foreign sales value are far fewer and include Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson. "It seems like a lot of people, but it's not when you are all going after the same people," says The Solution's Lisa Wilson, a veteran sales agent.

Sellers hope new stars with foreign appeal will hit -- Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Liam Hemsworth, Tom Hardy, Jeremy Renner and Zac Efron -- but just like in the U.S., overseas audiences are becoming fickle. "The trouble with Japan," says IM Global's Stuart Ford of a territory that once worshipped U.S. actors, "is they don't like anybody anymore."

Cate Blanchett covers AnOther AW 13/14

Cate said: “I have this thing on film where I do die quite a lot. And I suddenly realised, I was always dying on my birthday."

“I played an Irish journalist, Veronica Guerin, in a film that about two and a half people saw — usually two to three people see the films that I make — and I was sitting on a highway doing this scene where she got shot and it was my birthday. Then I got beaten up in another experience on film the next year on my birthday. And later I made a film with David Fincher called The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and I died then too, on my birthday, on a hospital bed — and that was a relief.”

Blanchett, about to appear in Woody Allen’s new comedy drama Blue Jasmine, would like to double the size of her brood to six, despite her home life being “chaos”. She and her playwright husband Andrew Upton have three sons — Dashiell, 11, Roman, nine, and five-year-old Ignatius. She said: “I’d have three more. It’s the chaos of it. I love it. I am so unhappy being away from them. They are so funny and wicked.”

Ginger Spice signs record deal with Sony Music............Australia

Geri Halliwell has announced her surprise return to music, crediting the support of her loyal Southern Hemisphere fans. The former Ginger Spice will release her first single in eight years on Sony Music Australia.

Avicii's "Lay Me Down" w/Nile Rodgers & Adam Lambert leaks in full

We were already super excited for the September 17 release of Avicii's debut LP TRUE, but the latest track to leak from the record, the funk-EDM hybrid "Lay Me Down," is making the wait even harder—yeah, it's that good.

Centered around the Swedish DJ's fist-pumping EDM production, "Lay Me Down" features disco diva sass and wailing from Adam Lambert while Chic co-founder Nile Rodgers lays down ultra-crisp funk guitar licks. It's reminiscent of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky," but with a higher BPM and slick studio production; you can boogie down to this track at both Studio 54 and Ultra Music Fest.

The album is also set to include Avicii’s massive Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart Wake Me Up, and the new single You Make Me. Wake Me Up is still the UK’s most listened to track, topping the Official Streaming Chart for a seventh week this week – equalling his pal Nile Rodgers’ record. Nile helped Daft Punk take Get Lucky to the top of the Streaming Chart for seven weeks earlier in 2013. (Bastille’s Hey Pompeii also made it seven weeks at the top. Well done, guys!) So far, Wake Me Up has sold 877,000 copies. Get Lucky has sold over 1.2 million copies – but we’re sure Nile and Avicii aren’t counting.

Will Lay Me Down get a full release and be a first Number 1 single in the UK for Adam Lambert? Who knows? But Avicii and Nile have both had Number 1s this year – they really should give Adam a turn too, right?

‘No Cyrus’ Chrome plug-in will censor your web browsing to block all things Miley Cyrus

If you're at all plugged-in to “what’s happening,” you are likely aware of the cultural tidal wave that is Miley Cyrus. And for those of us that are tired of riding that wave, there’s now an app for that.

A new extension for Google’s Chrome browser called No Cyrus will block any mention of “Miley Cyrus, twerking and her other ridiculous words,” the developer claims. They've only been dating for a short space of time but Liam Payne is proving to be one protective and caring boyfriend.

The One Direction star seems to be looking after new girlfriend Sophia Smith and affectionately put his arm around her on Wednesday evening as they dodged the crowds through the airport.

This is a Rupert Grint Post

Grint, 25, joins a stellar cast including Ben Whishaw, Colin Morgan from Merlin, Downton’s Brendan Coyle and Daniel Mays in the play Mojo, set in Fifties Soho, which reunites Jerusalem writer and director Jez Butterworth and Ian Rickson on their first hit. Plays from Oct 26 through January 25 in London's West End

Grint said he knew all eyes would be on him. “There are going to be expectations at my first stab at it. I’m trying not to think about it too much. It is something that really scares me. But part of it is I want to do something that scares me a little bit. It’s quite good to challenge yourself  now and again.”

Radcliffe, who has recently finished a West End run in The Cripple of Inishmaan, obviously adored theatre, he said. “Dan has always said it’s a great thing to do and he absolutely loves it. Just watching him enjoy it told me it must be quite fun.” Grint, who last appeared on stage aged about nine as Rumpelstiltskin in a school production, said he needed a break from Potter before making his stage debut — though he has done several independent films.

“I think I just needed time to find myself a little bit. It was 10 years of doing the Potter films and it was quite suffocating,” the Stevenage-born star said.

And money was obviously never a motivation. Grint, who has bought an icecream van and invested in property, said: “I never felt to be in a rush to do everything and so I’m quite careful when I choose things.”

Grint plays “quite naïve” Sweets in the gangland drama. Rickson, who was told by Potter director David Yates that Grint was “special,” hopes he might “attract some people that may not ordinarily see a new production of a modern classic”

Miley Cyrus once again gets suggestive with a foam finger before twerking onstage with a dwarf

She hasn't been seen onstage since her controversial performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last month.

But Miley Cyrus was back to her wild and overtly sexual ways as she filmed an appearance on British talk show Chatty Man with Alan Carr, in the UK on Thursday.

The 20-year-old is in London promoting her new album Bangerz, and the comedian was excited to invite her on his programme.

And Miley certainly didn't disappoint him, gracing the stage in yet another revealing outfit and, of course, bringing that now infamous foam finger with her on the show.

After provocatively fondling Robin Thicke with the giant hand during their much-talked about VMA's Blurred Lines performance, Miley once again got suggestive with the accessory.

This time Miley simulated sucking the middle finger, sticking her tongue out in the process.

She then then turned it around to the audience to make another rude gesture.

Chrystal Workman continues making shocking claims in her bid to undo the court ruling that stripped her of custody of her daughter, Ariel Winter ... now she's raising phantom allegations of sexual molestation.

Workman filed legal docs, obtained by TMZ, in which she claims her 15-year-old daughter has accused her of "sexual abuse or sexual molestation."  Workman says, "I adamantly deny these accusations."

Here's the problem.  the "Modern Family" star has never hinted at sexual molestation in her guardianship case.  She has only alleged physical and emotional abuse, so it's confounding as to why Workman is denying something that was never raised in court.

But there's more.  Workman also claims her other daughter gave her cancer.  Workman says of Shanelle Gray, who now has legal guardianship of Ariel, "I believe the reason I got cancer was from the stress of the situation Shanelle put me through of missing my child when she was not there...

Celine Dion: My new music is edgier

Celine Dion's fans should expect an edgier twist to her new album, "Loved Me Back to Life," but it's just a natural musical evolution, the singer told Natalie Morales Tuesday on TODAY.

"It's a very powerful song," she told Morales of the new album's title track. And her singing style had to adjust, Dion said, noting that she tried not to make the performance "too pretty," and worked to put "this little edge" into her voice while singing.

The Grammy Award-winning singer stressed that she's not reinventing herself at age 45.

"It's not about that," she told Morales. "Because what I have accomplished through my career, this is something that I'm extremely proud of. But I can afford to kind of be sitting on a couch and relax a little bit, not try to overdo it."

J.J. Abrams Will Not Direct the Next 'Star Trek' Movie

Filmmaker will continue with the franchise as a producer

J.J. Abrams will not direct the next movie in the Star Trek series, though he plans to stay involved in the franchise.

"It’s a little bittersweet," Abrams told Collider. "But I will say that I’m going to be producing the movie. Whomever it is that directs the film will be someone we all know is going to keep the cast and crew in good hands. I feel very lucky to have been part of it, and it definitely feels like the right time to let someone come in and do their own thing."

Abrams said he's excited to see the direction of the series after his recent Star Trek Into Darkness. He also mentioned that he's been helping screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci break the story for the next film. (nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.)

Abrams' exit from the Star Trek director's chair is unsurprising, though, as the filmmaker will have his hands full as he helms the upcoming, highly-anticipated Star Wars reboot. Also, his production company Bad Robot recently released a mysterious trailer called "Stranger" that finds a man untying ropes from around his wrists while his mouth has been completely sewn shut.

PETA: NFL Funding Deadly Animal Experiments

     photo b60848cd-07aa-4469-b7eb-92c97bec59f9_zpsb4fd1e46.jpg

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) launched a new campaign today against animal experiments that the organization says are being funded by the National Football League (NFL).

PETA states on their website, “For years, the National Football League Foundation, formerly known as NFL Charities, has quietly funded horrific and deadly sports-injury experiments on dogs, mice, rats, and other animals at Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of California–Los Angeles, the University of Notre Dame, and other schools and private laboratories. These projects, many of which are ongoing, are crudely designed to recreate injuries on the football field.”

According to PETA, these tests involve horrific cruelty including “inflicting severe knee injuries on dogs, after which the animals are killed and have their legs cut off; repeatedly slamming heavy weights into rats’ heads to create brain and spinal cord injuries and skull fractures; and cutting open the heads of mice and delivering crushing blows to cause traumatic brain injuries.”

The animal rights organization claims that studies have shown these tests on animals do not accurately replicate sports injuries in humans, and brain injury experiments on animals have proven unsuccessful in helping human patients.

The NFL recently reached a $765 million settlement over brain injuries sustained by players, $10 million of which may be going to fund these tests. According to NBC news, that settlement includes $675 million going to a compensation fund, $75 million going to medical exams, and $10 million to research and education.

PETA, which says “it’s time for a new playbook when it comes to advancing the science of treating traumatic injuries,” is urging people to help by contacting NFL officials and ask that funding go to cruelty-free, non-animal testing alternatives instead. They provide a pre-written letter form to send to the NFL.

Mumford & Sons Booted From ATL Strip Club

NO CAMERAS ... it's one of the biggest strip club rules there is (after "no touching") ... and folk band Mumford & Sons allegedly violated it big time in Atlanta Tuesday night -- resulting in the entire group getting the boot.

Here's how it started: the band had just performed at ATL's Centennial Olympic Park and decided to hit up the famous Clermont Lounge to celebrate. It was karaoke night, and we're told band member Ben Lovett took the stage to belt out a few tunes.

According to strip club sources, Ben's bandmates decided to document the occasion with their camera phones, and strip club officials freaked out, demanding they put their phones away (per the club's strict rules).

We're told the DJ had to lower the music several times to ask the band members to put their cameras away, and that really pissed off Ben ... who loudly accused the DJ of ruining his song.

Our sources say the other band members chimed in at that point, cursing out the strip club staff -- so the club manager kicked the whole group out.

TMZ has obtained grainy video shot in the wake of the incident, in which you can hear a strip club employee shout, "Everybody out! Go go go!" It's pretty nuts. We called a rep for the band for comment -- so far, no word back.

Brendon Urie On Panic! At The Disco's New Album, Drummer's Drug Addiction And Growing Up

Panic! At the Disco is currently opening for Fall Out Boy on a nation-wide arena tour, but it's been a strange, meandering journey since they released "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" (and smash hit "I Write Sin Not Tragedies") and, well, went ahead and sweated it out.

Over the intervening eight years, the band has shed multiple founding members, lead singer Brendon Urie turned from a "snot-nosed kid" into a man and, most recently, drummer Spencer Smith took a hiatus from the band to seek treatment for drug addiction.

"I guess I never thought [drug abuse] would ever really be a 'thing.' Ever," Urie wrote in an open letter posted earlier this year. "I figured if we ever got into drugs or partying that we would phase out just as quickly. And for a while, we seemed to do just that. Phase in and out of consciousness without worrying about future consequences; or, 'future tripping.'" If Urie's sentiment seems a bit flip, that's because the now 26-year-old got drugs in -- and out -- of his system at an early age.

"The first time I had a drink of alcohol, I was 12," Urie said in an interview with HuffPost Entertainment. "The first time I smoked weed I was 13. Then I started delivering weed to people, like a middle man. It was part of my life pretty early on."

When Smith's battle with drugs removed him from the creative process, Urie didn't really flinch. "I was having more fun writing alone anyways," he said. "Even on the last record, I would write alone and then I would bring it to the rest of the guys and be like, 'Hey, I have this idea,' but not until it was a two-minute full idea."

The result of two-minute ideas is "Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die" (Oct. 8, Decaydence/Fueled by Ramen) the band's fourth studio album and the one that's most closely aligned with Urie -- and only Urie's state of mind. It's a laudable effort, with a back half that's particularly spunky.

Ahead, read a transcript of our conversation with Urie, who dishes on what it's like to be caught up in a wave of nostalgia, whether or not rock is dead and how making an album is different when you're no longer a teenager.

Robert Pattinson: "I'm the Only Actor in Hollyood Without a Six-Pack"

Robert Pattinson is one of Hollywood’s reigning hunks, but the self-deprecating actor doesn’t think much of his physique and could never be accused of working out obsessively like so many other actors. The good news is, he’s thinking about hitting the gym.

Rob, 27, had several shirtless scenes in the “Twilight” film saga, although he candidly admits that his prominent abs were spray-painted on for some of those.

And, he says he probably pays a price for not being in the best shape.

“I think I don’t get some jobs because I don’t go to the gym,” he tells the Arabian edition of Harper’s Bazaar in a new interview. “I am literally the only actor in LA who doesn’t have a six-pack,” he says. “Although I am going to have to change that.”

His post-roles “Twilight,” roles are increasingly involving intimate scenes, and that’s providing the motivation to hit the gym.

“In my next film I have like three intimate scenes so I am literally thinking of those to get in shape,” he explains. But it won’t change his aversion to exercising.

    “I don’t ever want anyone to see me doing exercise,” he says. “Even though I am doing it, I still think it’s so lame and embarrassing;
I am doing it out of necessity, that’s all.”

Robert F. Kennedy Jr's secret diary leaks; he had 37 affairs in 2001

Kennedy also offers his thoughts on brother-in-law Andrew Cuomo ("lacks humanity"), Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Al Sharpton (both give him "the creeps")

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. grappled with what he called his biggest defect — “my lust demons” — while keeping a scorecard of more than two dozen conquests, according to his secret diary. The thick, red journal was found in their home by his wife, Mary Richardson Kennedy, who, distraught over their impending divorce and Kennedy’s serial philandering, committed suicide last year.

A copy of the 398 pages, reviewed by The Post, details RFK Jr.’s daily activities, speeches, political activism and the lives of his six children in the year 2001. But they also record the names of women — with numbers from 1 to 10 next to each entry. The codes corresponded to sexual acts, with 10 meaning intercourse, Mary told a confidant. There are 37 women named in the ledger, 16 of whom get 10s.

On Nov. 13, 2001, RFK Jr. records a triple play. The separate encounters — coded 10, 3 and 2 — occur the same day he attended a black-tie fund-raiser at the Waldorf-Astoria for Christopher Reeve’s charity, where he sat next to the paralyzed “Superman” star, magician David Blaine and comic Richard Belzer. It was a hectic month for Kennedy, who traveled to Toronto, Louisiana and Washington, DC — and listed at least one woman’s name on 22 different dates, including 13 consecutive days. Most women are identified only by first name in the ledger. They include a lawyer, an environmental activist, a doctor and at least one woman married to a famous actor.

A Post reporter who questioned Kennedy Friday about the diary was first met with six seconds of stunned silence. “I don’t think there is any way you could have a diary or journal of mine from 2001,” Kennedy then said. “I don’t have any comment on it. I have no diary from 2001.”

He later changed his statement in an e-mail, saying the diary was "illegally stolen" from him. "The diary served as a tool for self-examination and for dealing with my spiritual struggles at the time. It also contains unedited, unfiltered stream-of-consciousness musings about current events and people."

The diary is laced with Kennedy’s Catholic guilt over his infidelities, which follow the same pattern of affairs pursued by his uncles, John F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy, as well as his own father.

On days without a woman’s name, Kennedy would often write “victory.” This meant he’d triumphantly resisted sexual temptation, according to a source close to Richardson.

'Orange Is the New Black' audience is a mystery even to distributor

By cultural indications, the Netflix original series 'Orange Is the New Black' appears to be a hit.

The prison comedy, based on Piper Kerman's autobiography about her 15-month incarceration in a federal correctional facility on a decade-old drug offense, has garnered extensive media coverage -- and a parody photo featuring the puppets from the Broadway musical "Avenue Q."

But the precise size of its audience remains cloaked in mystery -- even to the show's distributor, Lionsgate. Although Netflix disclosed, during a recent earnings call, that "Orange Is the New Black" drew more viewers in its first week than its Emmy-nominated series "House of Cards," it withheld viewership numbers.

"We don't have access to that," James Packer, Lionsgate president of worldwide televsion and digital distribution, said in an appearance at Broadcasting & Cable's Next TV Summit in San Francisco.

Netflix's chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, has resisted industry pressure to release audience data -- saying such information isn't relevant for an online movie and TV service that neither sells advertising nor collects a per-subscriber fee from cable and satellite TV distributors.

But Packer said the lack of disclosure has posed a challenge, as Lionsgate attempts to sell the series in global markets where Netflix is not a household name. Its sales teams have used other sources of information to sell the show to other TV distributors around the world, he said.

"Ultimately I want data to help my team internationally," Packer said. "You can't do that on 'Orange.'"

One Direction fan allegedly kills dog after singers don't follow her on Twitter

A "psycho" One Direction fan allegedly killed her pet dog after the stars of the British pop group didn't follow her on Twitter.

The obsessed admirer allegedly broke her beloved Chihuahua's neck after a desperate message to four of the band's five singers went ignored.

Tinie Tempah (feat. John Martin) - Children of the Sun

UK rapper Tinie Tempah links up with Swedish singer-songwriter John Martin (famous for being the vocalist of the recent Swedish House Mafia and Avicii hits) in "Children of the Sun". The up-lifting track serves as single #2 off Tinie's upcoming sophomore album, "Demonstration", due in stores November 4th. Listen to a radio-rip above!

Can we give John Martin the title of king of hooks?. Each he's featured in is amazing! Unlike that urban flop nobody cared for, "Trampoline", "Children of the Sun" sounds more like a song from Tinie Tempah we grew to love thanks to his radio-friendly hit singles on "Disc-Overy". Beat is loud and stirring, Tinie brings a sick flow to the verses, and Sweden's John Martin steals some of the spotlight away with the the help of his uplifting hooks. "Children of the Sun" was premiered on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show today (September 12), but will not be officially released and available on iTunes till October 28.
