THE TEAM THAT GAVE THE WORLD classic Capcom game Mega Man has reunited and is appearing on the Kickstarter crowdfunding website proposing to create the nascent game Mighty No.9.
Mighty No.9 is a side scrolling action game with a very strong Japanese flavour. It is the work of the developers behind some of the 50 or so Mega Man games. The title has an "all star" development team, according to the information on Kickstarter, and counts Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune among its personnel.
Also working on the title are Naoya Tomita, a long term Mega Man level designer, and Shinsuke Komaki, who takes the role of art director. It has a Mega Man look and feel to it.
The project has a $900,000 funding goal. It started two days ago and is already only a little more than $100,000 short of its target. The funding exercise runs until the start of October. Investors are offered a range of lures, including digital copies of the game, hard copies, plushies and artwork.
The highest priced $10,000 or more investment will get you dinner with Inafune in Tokyo. Nine of these are offered and one has been bought already. The cheapest option is $5 and gives investors forum access, backer-only events access and contributors' acknowledgements.
Should you take up one of the options that gives you access to the game you will find yourself playing as Beck, who is ninth in a line of powerful robots. Your eight peers are infected by a virus and you must mash your way through at least six stages and challenge evil wherever it appears.
Over the course of the game you can run, blast, jump and transform into a range of attack positions including a claw and a massive hammer. This could change though, as the game is still in development and the developers say that they will listen to investor and fan feedback.
The initial plan is to release the game for the PC but stretch goals could see it launch on Mac and Linux systems. Release is projected for April 2015.

Adele made a discreet exit from the Camden Roundhouse, where she joined an array of celebs to watch Lady Gaga perform her much vaunted opening show at this year’s iTunes Festival.
Dressed in a distinctive patterned outfit, but without her trademark Fifties style make-up Adele kept a very low profile at the event before she was driven back to her Brighton home.
The Rolling in the Deep singer was joined at the event - during which Gaga performed new tracks from forthcoming album ARTPOP - by One Direction star Niall Horan, Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Downton Abbey’s Laura Carmichael.
Adele has enjoyed a hugely successful year despite her lack of musical output.
In February she won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for her performance of James Bond song Skyfall, followed by a BRIT Award for Best British Single.
To kick off the promo of the re-release of their album "Don't Panic," now called "Don't Panic: It's Longer Now," All Time Low has released their new single, "A Love Like War" which features Vic Fuentes of Pierce the Veil. You can preorder the new album on iTunes here or get a physical preorder here. The album will be released on September 30th.

Marvel Studios has just debuted two character posters for the upcoming “Thor: The Dark World” featuring stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston as Thor and Loki.
Marvel's “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the nine realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.
In the aftermath of Marvel's “Thor” and “Marvel's The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos ... but an ancient race, led by the vengeful Malekith, returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Chris Hemsworth has played Thor, the god of Thunder in two highly successful Marvel films, 2011's “Thor” and 2012's “Marvel's The Avengers,” which collectively grossed nearly $2 billion at the global box office. In this latest adventure, Academy Award® winners Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins also reprise their roles, as well as Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgard, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander and Rene Russo.
Alan Taylor (TV's “Game of Thrones”) directs from a story by Don Payne and Robert Rodat, and a screenplay by Christopher L. Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely.
Opening across the Philippines on Oct. 30 in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D, 2D and regular theaters, “Thor: The Dark World” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.

Pigs in boiler suits, ninjas and a mermaid in a fur thong on stage. In the audience, unicorns, transvestites and Pierrots . . . and a greying, middle-aged bloke in a shirt from George at Asda. Among all the Little Monsters at Lady Gaga’s comeback gig, I looked and felt like a dinosaur. After two sweaty hours, the crowd was bouncing, and I was bobbing up and down with them . . . to stop my knees from locking up. The opening night of the iTunes Festival, a concert dubbed ‘SwineFest’ by Stefani Germanotta, alias Lady Gaga, alias Mother Monster, was intended as a celebration for those Little Monsters, as her hardcore fans call themselves. So what on earth was I, a Fleet Street critic decades past his sell-by date, doing there?
Quite simply, paying homage. Forget the outrageous fashion statements — Lady Gaga’s music is the ultimate evolution of glam pop. If you grew up with David Bowie, Queen, Marc Bolan and Abba, these are songs to sweep you away.
The comedian and writer Charlie Higson has been announced as the latest author in the series of Doctor Who ebooks. "I grew up with Doctor Who and have always been a massive fan so it's a great honour to be involved," he said.
To celebrate the BBC programme's 50th anniversary, 11 short stories are being published - one for each incarnation of the Time Lord.

Forget Ikea and Volvo: some of Scandinavia’s greatest exports are musical. First came ABBA, with striking blonde looks and inescapable disco-infused pop beats that created an international phenomenon in the ’70s. In the ’80s, Roxette’s contribution to the Pretty Woman soundtrack made them a chart-topper; Ace of Base and The Cardigans continued the trend into the ’90s.
The musical scene in Scandinavia—Sweden, Norway, and Denmark—has gotten even more interesting, or perhaps just more accessible, in the last decade. The Internet has given the world the opportunity to see what bands from towns like Bergen, Norway, and Gothenburg, Sweden, are creating (luckily for those of us who don’t live there). Artists like Icona Pop, Robyn, The Knife, and Peter Bjorn & John, who all hail from Sweden, have already found some mainstream success, but there are plenty of other Scandinavian artists angling to join them.
Here are some Scandinavian artists you should be listening to now:

Fall is just about to begin but MTV has already teased viewers with the winter premiere of "Teen Wolf". To tide fans over the show's upcoming return, the network releases a promo video which leaves a new question as it features a man's eye which gradually changes from the normal grey, to werewolf's yellow, red, blue and then black in the last scene.
The guy's face is not shown entirely but his nose is bleeding. Fans have seen a blue-eyed werewolf and Tyler Posey's Scott has been seen transforming into a yellow-eyed werewolf and an Alpha Red, but what the black eye means will likely only be answered when the show returns with the second half of season 3 on January 6.
In the mid-season 3 finale, Scott becomes a True Alpha after helping Deucalion defeat the Darach. Commenting on how his character would adjust to the latest transformation, Posey recently said, "You know, he's going to have a crisis of confidence, and he's also going to learn that this is a power and level of responsibility that's not easy for a high school teenager, specifically."
"So he's going to have to trust, say, the twins and allow them to help - or push them away," the actor added. "He's going to have to figure out the roles of his friends and his pack - people like Isaac, Allison and Stiles and Lydia. In a way, we've build a pack that is both human and supernatural. So I think it's kind of a cool story to tell, especially in high school where everyone is essentially looking for their group. An this is one that's very all-inclusive."
Performing in front of thousands of fans takes both confidence and style—a combination in the musical word that has bred some of the most sartorially savvy singers around. From Charlotte Gainsbourg to Lady GaGa, these fearless showstoppers demonstrate a shared sense of female empowerment, enviable individual style, and unquestionable muse-worthiness.

While filming the upcoming season of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” Charlie Day had a revelation.
“We were shooting an episode on a college campus this year, a scene in a planetarium, and we were talking to all of the kids who were fans of the show, we were taking pictures with the students,” said Day. “And I was thinking to myself, ‘Some of these kids were 10 years old when we did the first season.’”
A hilariously dark sitcom about the five morally questionable proprietors of a run-down pub in the city of brotherly love, “Always Sunny” first found life nearly a decade ago through a homemade pilot made by Day and his co-stars and fellow executive producers, Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton. The show was picked up by FX, and the cast was rounded out with Kaitlin Olson, followed by Asbury Park native Danny DeVito in season two.
“Always Sunny” returns for its ninth season at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 on FX’s new spin-off network, FXX.

Natalia Kills hardly sets herself up for success on her sophomore LP, Trouble, out today, September 3 on Interscope Records. In the roaring title track, she declares, “I’m trouble!” ad infinitum; on the clattering single “Problem,” she sings, “You know what they say about me — that girl is a problem”; on the dark, leering “Rabbit Hole,” she warns, “We’re the kids your mama warned you about.” Subtlety isn’t the end game here.
It’s not a coincidence that she’s playing this up on Trouble, since there was never a shot of her being seen as a good girl. Dark pop is Kills’ thing, and has been since the jump-off, but it didn’t always land on her jumbled debut, 2011′s Perfectionist, which had killer hooks (see the chorus on “Mirrors” for more) but invited too many unfavorable comparisons to her contemporaries.
That’s why it’s such a sheer delight to hear Kills firmly in her own lane on her sophomore LP, which feels like a better representation of her perspective than even the best moments of Perfectionist. It’s not affected, low on posturing, and there are moments of vulnerability that gleam like the very best lyrical storytelling. Trouble is a great pop record, straight up.

In the past decade, Nine Inch Nails have earned more notice for how they release their records than the songs that are actually on them. In his attempts to reach audiences beyond his faithful base of goths and gamers, Trent Reznor has embraced both high concepts (2007’s interactive song-cycle Year Zero) and low overhead (2008’s self-released offerings Ghosts I-IV and The Slip); even a guy who got famous by screaming needed a good news hook to get himself heard over the incessant din of a quick-click online-music marketplace. For his latest Nine Inch Nails release, Reznor is resorting to the most radical release strategy an independent-minded artist can employ in 2013: he’s re-signed to a major label. Those e-commerce experiments proved NIN can remain a viable business in the absence of corporate-funded marketing campaigns, but he presumably wants something that not even 100 per cent royalty rates can buy you: to be a game-changing pop cultural force once again. And despite what tech-topian industry analysts would have us believe, for the time being at least, traditional tools like global major-label distribution and aggressive radio promotion still often mean the difference between an artist being a household name or a merely respected one.( Collapse )

She first explained that the project took years to build.
“I read the script about 5 years ago. Since then it was project I felt needed attention,” Michelle said with gusto. “The general reception sparked conversation and that is one of the goals of ‘Hello Herman.’ We had screenings and hour long conversations would follow.”
Michelle directed, produced and even portrayed the troubled teen’s mother in the film that took another look at bullying and the growing violence in our schools. Gun laws and debates happen on a daily basis, but I was curious as to what she felt was the right path to walk when it came to preventing tragedies like this from happening.
“There is no ‘one answer’ or singular solution, but this film focuses on bullying. It is just one of the underlining issues that we need to tackle. We underestimate what our children feel and go through on a daily basis. When researching for the film, I felt I had to see it through. My hopes is that is starts the dialogue and continues it. Our government has made attempts at addressing the issue, but then nothing seems to happen,” Danner said with a sadness in her voice that I can tell is fueled by a little bit of frustration. “But the bottom line is that we need to talk to our kids.”
We continued the dialogue on a parent’s role in their children lives. As I pointed out in my review, the film does take a look at Herman’s remaining parent in a polarizing moment. Danner’s character begs Lax (Norman Reedus) to stay because she feels so ostracized. She is basically punished by association, but Michelle surprised me with her feelings toward the role...

A multiday electronic music festival that drew tens of thousands of people to Randalls Island over Labor Day weekend was canceled on Sunday, its last day, after city officials said two concertgoers had died and at least four others had fallen critically ill during the first two days of the event, known as the Electric Zoo.
Both deaths were consistent with use of the drug MDMA, also known as Ecstasy or molly, prompting the city to recommend that the concerts be canceled just hours before the third day of the festival was to start, the mayor’s office said, citing “serious health risks.” It remained unclear whether Electric Zoo, which was in its fifth year and had become a major attraction for electronic dance music fans, would return next year.

Paul McCartney has revealed that his wife Linda "saved" him from a nervous breakdown during the demise of The Beatles in 1969.
The revelation comes in a forthcoming biography titled Man On The Run: Paul McCartney In The 1970s, which is to be published on Friday (September 6). In the book, author Tom Doyle writes that McCartney suffered a massive crisis of confidence as the band were splitting up and fled to his farm in Scotland.
An excerpt from the book, as published by The Sunday Times, reads: "Day by day, his (McCartney's) condition had been steadily worsening. His often sleepless nights were spent shaking with anxiety, while his days were characterised by heavy drinking and self-sedation with marijuana. For the first time in his life, he felt utterly worthless. This was an identity crisis in extremis ... when he did get out of bed, he would reach straight for the whisky and by three in the afternoon was usually out of it."
Doyle interviewed McCartney for the biography and the singer said of his recovery: "It was Linda who saved me and it was all done in a sort of domestic setting." McCartney, by now on the mend, would announce his departure from The Beatles in April 1970.
Paul McCartney wed Linda Eastman, a photographer from New York, in a ceremony in London in March 1969 and they remained married until 1998 when Linda died of breast cancer. McCartney married his third wife Nancy Shevell in London in October 2011.
In a day and age when the stock market tanks simply because of what it thinks investors might do, the bean counters at the Mouse House cannot be happy. At all. Sadly, this might not be the only huge flop it has to contend with in coming months.
On August 1st of 2014, it will be releasing Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, this is a Marvel property, so it at least has somewhat of a buffer wedged in front of it. On the surface, people seem to like superhero movies. In fact, all of this Man of Steel 2 business, with the 'should or shouldn't Ben Affleck play Batman' talk, seems to have brought interest in these sorts of films to a fever pitch. However, unlike a lot of other successful superhero movies, the characters inGuardians are not household names. By a long shot. Sure it's got a solid cast with the likes ofZoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro and John C. Reilly, but none of them guarantees a big opening weekend or a lengthy run. Worst of all, it faces the exact same kind of challenges John Carterdid, both marketing and audience wise. The fanboys can scream as loudly and as long as they want about how awesome the Comic-Con footage was. People in middle America don't care about those hazelnuts. John Carter was a substantial flop, and that doesn't bode well for our heroes this time out.
In today's market, movies live and die by what they do during their initial 72 hours of release. Disney is known for releasing films that get people into the theaters. Since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, this company has been a veritable cash cow. Sure, there have been ups and downs, but in today's market, with so many factors to contend with (marketing, the internet, weather conditions, scandals, etc.) a great movie can be somewhat successful and still fail miserably at the box office. Marking it as a bomb forever.
With all these factors in mind, and such a storied history behind it, we decided to look at "The Top Five Biggest Disney Flops" of the past few summers. Maybe we can rally around these movies, figure out what went wrong, and save Guardians of the Galaxy from the same sort of fate!

Comedy Central and the hip, young comedians that Franco hangs out with are wooing each other in this 90-minute special, in which Seth Rogen corrals several different comedians at varying stages of mastery to do their worst against Franco. Franco has obliged us all by building up a life story doing many things that sound really dumb—and therefore make good insults.

there’s a portion of my book that deals with the struggle of embracing “bad” music that’s effective vs “good” music that’s boring. this can also be applied to being an “artiste” vs being a celebrity. celebrity is basking in the cult of personality. its when your life surpasses your art. true artists create without monetary motivation and pretty much move on their own time. yet i dont find fault with either side–everyone needs a hero. everyone needs creative people to marvel at too. i often find myself in the dead center of this struggle. i got true “artist” pals that frankly are f****ps, i know marginally “gifted” people that are geniuses in using their limited resources to maximize their power….and honestly? i’m fascinated. but on the other side i’ve seen gifted geniuses make lightening in a bottle an effortless marvel and i’ve scratched my heads figuring out how so and so ascended so fast to their success. sometimes when the two are mixed (put an “artist” in front of a celeb crazy environment and well?………

Taylor Swift lands role in spy movie The Secret Service alongside David Beckham," reads the headline of a piece in The Mirror, which goes to warn that “Victoria Beckham might want to keep a close eye on her man.
According to the British tab, the film — from director Matthew Vaughn — is “a 21st Century 007,” and Swift has been cast as a woman who “escapes after being kidnapped by a villain,” played by Samuel L. Jackson.
The paper’s so-called “production source” says Vaughn “looked at a number of actresses to play the part before settling on Taylor – apparently she was a natural on the big screen.”
The “source” says Swift’s appeal is that she’s “someone fresh and unseen in Hollywood terms,” and notes she will be “required to have some heavy-duty martial arts training in order that her character convincingly kick[s] Samuel L. Jackson’s butt.”
Swift not only “cannot wait” for her “biggest challenge” yet professionally, says The Mirror, but she is “also looking forward to working with David Beckham whom she thinks is amazing looking.”
What an interesting and… TOTALLY WRONG story.

Wow. YouTube user jeonghoon95 recreated Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" using the composer in Mario Paint. I haven't used that game in about 20 years. Mind blowing.
Pay particular attention to the funky breakdown toward the end.
So, "Roaring 20s" – explain the concept…
Jordan Stephens: It’s based on a thesis which is that the 1900s correlates to the human age, so if you were to say that 1914-1918 was WW1 and you put that into human age its 14-18 when you’re about to come of age - experimenting with drugs for the first time and starting to have sex and your GCSEs are happening and all that. Then the 1920s came where it seems that the cultural epicentre of the world was Berlin, Paris, New York, London and everything suddenly blew into colour, they’d broken out of Victorian traditions and had a bit of money off the back of the war so they were living lavishly and just having parties and painting and making jazz music. The way people acted in the 1920s was very similar to how one acts when they are twenty, in terms of lessons - you’re experimenting in order to prepare for proper adulthood and the punch line is that 1929 is the great depression and everyone whinges about turning 30 so it makes sense.
Have you ever felt discredited musically by the media or brushed off as a joke act?
JS: Not a joke act, but I think when you’re ultimately a very positive act it’s harder to be seen as credible. It’s almost like when someone’s miserable and just sings about being miserable everyone’s like, “Yes this is genius.” I don’t know anyone who’s been happy about things that has ever been fully credited – maybe Stevie Wonder, he seems quite happy. But, even after 35-40 years of continually amazing songs, people still wouldn’t necessarily jump to Stevie Wonder if you’re talking about all-time legends. You talk about fucked up people who died. I would have loved our first album to have been submitted for the [Barclaycard] Mercury [Music Prize] on the basis that I don’t know any other acts who are making positive hip-hop. People try and question whether we are even hip-hop on the basis that we’ve got short, snappy chorus-orientated songs but there’s rap in it and a drum beat - what more do you want? No-one took it and thought, “Ah yeah, no-one’s making music like that”.

It’s unclear how Mac got his letter to Utley, since he tried going through Major League Baseball, Utley’s lawyer and Utley’s mom. But in any case, Utley finally responded.
The veteran infielder writes:
I feel like I can call you Mac because you called me Chase. Sorry it took me five years to write you back, but I’m really busy playing a lot of baseball for the Phillies. Thank you for the compliment on my hair. It’s my fourth favorite thing after baseball, running fast, and my dad. I’m sorry your dad doesn't like you. Maybe you could become a better son. Meeting you and having a game of catch sounds like a lot of fun, but like I said, I’m really busy playing a lot of baseball for the Phillies.
I hope you have a good life. Fans like you make my life a “grand slam.”
Your good friend,

Lady Gaga has continued her pathological victimization in Tuesday's Guardian publication. The interview is mostly about how people think she is finished and how she is being misjudged. However, the most interesting part of the interview is where Mother Monster blatantly lies about selling out all her concerts.
"I know people said I wasn't selling out in America but that was entirely untrue, we sold out all over the world and every night I looked out into the fans and those front rows that you're talking about, the tears, the honesty, the inability to not be completely overjoyed because they felt accepted. That's sometimes more powerful than making a pop song and it just was at that time," said the fading pop superstar.

Looking like GI Jane, Madonna flexed her muscles as she walked her children through Heathrow Airport on Tuesday.
The Queen of Pop held her son David and daughter Mercy's hands while wearing an odd urban desert storm outfit complete with sports socks, shemagh scarf and baseball cap.
The family powered through the airport, stopping briefly so Madonna, 55, could take a swig from her water bottle.

MARKETING one single lipstick shade as "nude" is tricky - a perfect match for one person could be a shade too dark or too light for another - which is why L'Oréal Paris has called upon its celebrity spokesmodels to choose their own ideal hues.
Cheryl Cole, Doutzen Kroes, Freida Pinto, Julianne Moore, Eva Longoria and Liya Kebede each worked with L'Oréal Paris colour designer Orrea Light to develop the lipstick shade that best complemented their individual skin tones, and the results make up the Color Riche Collection Privée. The aim is to provide a perfect nude shade for everyone and thanks to the spokesmodels' different ethnicities, the range accomodates women of various skin tones.
"When I put it on I do feel very elegant - it's a very good everyday colour so I can wear it all the time, whenever I want," Kroes said of her colour, Hint Of Pink.
Additional shades chosen by Jane Fonda, Inès de la Fressange and Fan Bingbing will be available in other markets. The L'Oréal Paris Color Riche Collection Privée range is available at Boots stores nationwide.

Rizzle Kicks have called Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards's recent engagement "a disaster waiting to happen".
The 'Down with the Trumpets' singers - Harley Alexander-Sule and Jordan Stephens, both 21 - said that they expect the couple's relationship to last "[no more than] three years".
"I don't know what's going on there," added Stephens. "That's called a disaster waiting to happen... walking inevitability."
Laughing, his bandmate quipped: "She's gonna get paid when they get divorced."
Stephens went on to call Malik and Edwards "a great couple", but said he felt the pair should have waited before making the decision to tie the knot.
"Looking at statistics and on paper I'm going to go ahead and... put a wager on them not lasting more than three years," he said.
I'm sorry guys, I like you both as people but I don't think it will work."
When told about Malik's tattoo of his fiancée's face, the duo described it as "ridiculous".
Last week, Malik revealed that he and Edwards have yet to make any plans for their nuptials.
"We're really happy," he told NBC's Today. "Yeah. It's cool."
lol might be awkward when they next run into each other.. do you agree with them?

Looks like Simon Cowell is going to have a little mini-me! The X Factor judge and his pregnant girlfriend, New York City socialite Lauren Silverman, are expecting a baby boy, a source confirms to Us Weekly. (The New York Daily News was first to report the gender.)
"They've known for a while!" one insider tells Us of the news that they're having a son.
As noted earlier on Sept. 3, the first-time dad-to-be actually got a glimpse of his little bundle of joy via a recent sonogram. "You literally see this thing which is now alive moving around," the normally tough-talking Brit gushed to the Times of London on Sept. 2, one month after Us Weekly broke the news of Silverman's pregnancy.
"I feel very paternal right now. So I am very happy," he said. He added, though, that he wouldn't let fatherhood change him too much. "I can assure you: I won't go soft," the former American Idol judge quipped.
Cowell and Silverman began their relationship in secret while she was still married to Cowell's friend Andrew Silverman. The estranged spouses settled their divorce a few weeks ago, on Aug. 14; together they have a son, 7-year-old Adam.
Cowell was understandably reluctant to talk about Silverman's pregnancy at first, but now that everything's out in the open, he's increasingly speaking out about his thoughts on fatherhood. "I am good with kids because I like kids," he told the BBC. "I really do like them and I listen to them. Once I got used to [the idea of becoming a father] I did get excited. I think I will be a good dad!"
A rep for Cowell did not respond to requests for comment.
Sweden's Royal Palace says Princess Madeleine and her husband, New York banker Christopher O'Neill, are expecting their first child in March.
Madeleine, the younger sister of Crown Princess Victoria, is third in line to the Swedish throne. She and Mr O'Neill got married in Stockholm on June 8.
The announcement comes almost exactly 12 weeks after the fairytale ceremony, for which the 31-year-old wore a couture Valentino gown.
Sweden's one-time 'party princess' lives with her British-American husband, 39, in New York where she works for the World Childhood Foundation, a non-profit group founded by her mother, Queen Silvia.
The couple met after Princess Madeleine fled to the U.S. in 2010 with a broken heart.
She crossed the Atlantic following the breakdown of her first engagement to Swedish attorney Jonas Bergstrom amid speculation that he had cheated on her.

Chaz Bono is the incredible disappearing man -- 'cause dude has nearly shed a whole Honey Boo Boo worth of lbs since dramatically changing his diet last year.
Chaz was barely recognizable as he was spotted in Los Angeles today ... walking around in shorts and a pretty tight tee.
Earlier this year, Chaz talked about how he dropped nearly 70 pounds -- not through surgery -- but through sticking to calorie-controlled meals ... and doing a ton of martial arts training.
Chaz's original goal was only to lose 50 lbs. -- so he's clearly blown that away.
Jessica and Kim K. ... take notes.
It was originally rumoured that Peter Capaldi’s debut series will not air until August 2014. Moffat then said that late Summer 2014 was “probably right.”
Today, in the Media Guardian’s 100 list, the section on Steven Moffat notes that Series 8 will not air until autumn 2014.
Doctor Who may not be quite the force it was when it returned with Christopher Eccleston and in its David Tennant heyday in the UK, but has a growing audience in the US on cable channel BBC America.
It will not return next year until the autumn, giving it plenty of time to recharge batteries. And what better way to do that than with a new Doctor?
With filming on the run not beginning until January 2014 and the usual nine month filming schedule, autumn always seemed more likely.
So once this year’s Christmas special has concluded, it seems that there will be more long waits. Hopefully with the payoff being no split this time. Although earlier rumours did point to the series being slightly reduced, with 12 episodes instead of 13.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay all those years ago with Good Will Hunting. Now - after pledging support for his friend’s decision to don the Batsuit - the former might be about the [sic] follow the latter and start a directing career.
Damon is being linked with A Foreigner, currently being written by Argo scribe Chris Terrio. Given Terrio’s previous script helped Affleck’s film win Best Film at this year’s Academy Awards, it seems like a sensible choice for Damon.
It’s inevitable that many will (perhaps unfairly) compare Damon’s debut, if and when it arrives, with Affleck’s successful behind the camera efforts. But they’ll both be part of a long tradition of actors turned directors - a tradition that encompasses everyone from Charlie Chaplin to Ben Stiller and Takeshi Kitano to Orson Welles.
Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, Ron Howard and others have tonnes of awards to show for their efforts, and even lesser known ones like Thomas McCarthy have enjoyed critical and commercial success.
For every Clint Eastwood, though, there’s a Robert de Niro or Eddie Murphy struggling to convince viewers the move was a wise one. If turning to directing allows some actors to explore new creative avenues, it might confirm others will always perform best under someone else’s direction.
Even if we have to wait a while for ‘directed by Matt Damon’ to hit screens, it won’t be long at all before we get the chance to see some other actors taking their chances behind the camera. Here are four to look forward to.

Getting some shopping done while most start their short work week, Taylor Swift headed to the Grove in Los Angeles on Tuesday (September 3).
The "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer looked cute in a tan sweater with multicolored designs, navy blue high-waisted shorts, and nude heels as she rocked her red lips and shades.
Recently, the 23-year-old songstress's pal and tour mate Ed Sheeran came to her rescue to clear up a VMA rumor.
Though many speculated that Taylor was telling ex-boyfriend Harry Styles and his group One Direction to "Shut the f--k up" during the ceremony, Ed explains, "[Taylor] rung me straight afterward and she was like, 'I think I've messed up. Selena [Gomez] said to her, 'I think Miley's going to win the award over me,' and then Taylor said, 'Oh, shut the f--- up.' And that's what that was."

Not long ago, something funny started to happen inside the tawny, shaggy head of MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden. He was in upstate New York with bandmate Ben Goldwasser, recording their third album (MGMT, due out September 17th) in a rustic room surrounded by keyboards, drum machines and sequencers – working 12-hour days for weeks on end. "Weird things would happen to me up there," says the singer, sitting in a trendy Italian restaurant in New York's East Village. "I had total mental breakdowns sometimes." His solution: "I was like, 'I'm gonna go in the grocery store, and if there's a flier up that says FREE KITTENS, I'm gonna get one.'" He shows me a photo of his new cat on his phone.

This past weekend, Bishop T.D. Jakes brought his MegaFest inspirational event to Dallas which included various events featuring Oprah Winfrey, Steve Harvey and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, to name a few.
One of the many highlights came from the hands of Tyler Perry -- literally. Perry, who attended Sunday morning service at Jakes’ Potters House church to announce his $1 million donation towards the influential spiritual leader’s developing youth center, took to the mic and towards the end of a rousing speech placed his hand on Jakes' head and blessed him.
“I love to give,” he said to those in attendance. “I’ve been a giver all my life. And when people have given to you, and sewn into you. And God has touched them and given you favor… See, they don’t understand it where I come from. They don’t understand it in Hollywood, but I’m going to tell you something about the blood of Jesus.”

A radio DJ in Australia, Richard Kingsmill, tweeted that a new Arcade Fire single will be available on September 9th at 9 p.m. EST, while the band's label, Merge Records, confirmed to Rolling Stone today that something Arcade Fire-related would be happening at that exact same date and time.
Bits and pieces of information about Arcade Fire's imminent new LP — out October 29th and tentatively titled Reflektor — have come out over the past few weeks, while the band and collaborators were teasing the project over the summer.
At the beginning of August, a street art campaign connected to the album began, with graffiti images of the word "REFLEKTOR" spelled out in diamonds placed within a circle popping up in cities across the globe. A few weeks later the band owned up to design with a banner in New York City featuring the same design and the date, September 9.
Not much else is known about the LP other than the hints collaborator (and former LCD Soundsystem frontman) James Murphy has dropped over the summer, including the promise that the record is "really fucking epic."
You'll recall, Griffith's daughter has just been cast in the role of Anastasia Steele, the protagonist in "Fifty Shades of Grey" alongside Charlie Hunnam (as Christian Grey).
If you know anything about the books, you'll know Anastasia becomes entwined in a disturbing and violent BDSM affair with Christian Grey, essentially becoming Christian's sex-addicted slave. You know, every mother's dream.
