Abz from 5ive confesses to having Asperger's

5ive star Abz has revealed that his withdrawn behaviour since entering the Celebrity Big Brother house is the result of Asperger's Syndrome.

The singer was in the Diary Room when he made the admission while referring to model Sophie Anderton’s outspoken behaviour the previous night.

He said: ‘The drink’s kinda messing with people, I don’t really go out and party anymore. Sophie was telling me that I need to come out of my shell and really shine, it’s good advice, I can’t knock that.

‘But what people don’t know about me is I‘ve got this condition; it’s a kind of autism called Asbergers.’

He added: ‘It’s a personal thing but it makes it difficult for me in certain scenarios when people want the sparkly bright Abz all the time.

‘I only found out a couple of years ago so it’s all new to me but I’m trying to make the best of it.’

One Direction’s Zayn Malik: Fiancée Perrie Edwards and I keep our love life alive via Skype

EXCLUSIVE: Keeping a relationship alive is tricky business when you’re one-fifth of the biggest boyband of all time.

Zayn Malik thanks technology for keeping things steamy with Little Mix fiancée Perrie Edwards.

The Little Things singer settles for Skype dates with 20-year-old Perrie when they are driven apart by their hectic work schedules.

‘I think she’s coming back as I leave,’ the 20-year-old said as the group prepared to continue their Take Me Home world tour, while Little Mix are out performing in the USA.

‘We miss each other,’ he admitted.

‘We’ve got Skype as well. That helps,’ he said – much to the amusement of bandmates Louis Tomlinson, 21, and Liam Payne, 19.

‘All right!’ Louis said with a stifled laugh after Zayn hinted his Skype activity may keep his love life with Perrie spicy.

And Liam said: ‘I don’t wanna know what you’re doing in your personal time!’

A$AP Rocky Weighs In On Those Rihanna 'Video' Photos

BROOKLYN, New York — Remember that music video that A$AP Rocky and Rihanna were spotted filming in New York just a few weeks ago? Well, they weren't filming a video at all — if you're willing to take Rocky's word for it.

"Nah, we weren't filming no video, we were just chillin' " Lord Flacko told MTV News of the August 15 photos, despite the presence of cameras, lighting equipment and plenty of extras on what appears to be a video set.

'Twerking' Bounces Into Oxford Dictionary

Twerking, the rump-busting up-and-down dance move long beloved on America's hip-hop scene, has officially gone mainstream. It's got the English dictionary entry to prove it.

Britain's Oxford Dictionaries said the rapid-fire gyrations employed by U.S. pop starlet Miley Cyrus to bounce her way to the top of the charts had become increasingly visible in the past 12 months and would be added to its publications under the entry: "Twerk, verb."

Although Cyrus's eye-popping moves at Monday's MTV Video Music Awards may have been many viewers' first introduction to the practice, Oxford Dictionaries' Katherine Connor Martin said "twerking" was some two decades old.

"There are many theories about the origin of this word, and since it arose in oral use, we may never know the answer for sure," Martin said. "We think the most likely theory is that it is an alteration of work, because that word has a history of being used in similar ways, with dancers being encouraged to 'work it.' The 't' could be a result of blending with another word such as twist or twitch."

"Twerk" will be added to the dictionary as part of its quarterly update, which includes words such as "selfie," the word typically used to describe pouty smartphone self-portraits, "digital detox" for time spent way from Facebook and Twitter, and "Bitcoin," for the nationless electronic currency whose gyrations have also caught the world's eye.

Oxford Dictionaries is responsible for a range of reference works, including Oxford Dictionaries Online, which focuses on modern usage, and the historically-focused Oxford English Dictionary, which probably won't be adding "twerk" to its venerable pages any time soon.

The definition: "Twerk, v.: dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance."

Harry Styles on Swift speech: 'I like a joke as much as the next guy'

Harry Styles has responded to Taylor Swift's MTV VMAs award acceptance speech.

The One Direction singer commented on Swift's sense of humor, after appearing to make reference to Styles during the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 ceremony.

On collecting the 'Best Female Video' award for 'I Knew You Were Trouble', Swift said: "I also want to thank the person who inspired this song, who knows exactly who he is, because now I got one of these."

Speaking to Extra at the group's This Is Us New York premiere, Styles said: "It's alright, she likes a joke. I like a joke as much as the next guy, so it's all good."

When asked about being pictured with Swift at an after party, the 19-year-old replied: "Yeah, I went for a drink with Ed and some friends. It was good."

Fellow bandmates Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson have already jumped to Styles's defense, calling the remark unnecessary.

The singer also praised Miley Cyrus's performance, adding: "I thought it was vanilla. I would feel comfortable watching it with my grandma."

Azealia Banks Shades Lady GaGa After ‘ARTPOP’ Axe / GaGa Responds

Axed ‘ARTPOP’ femcee Azealia Banks is back at it. And by “it”, we mean the only thing that’s kept her (relatively) relevant in recent months – Twitter beefing.
The rapper’s latest subject? Lady GaGa.

They may have shared a manager in the power player that is Troy Carter, and now- if suggestions made by Banks are anything to go by- management isn’t the only
thing Mother Monster has in common with the 22-year-old.

Why Is Ben Affleck Playing Batman? Because He Still Wants to Be a Huge Movie Star

Since the news broke late Thursday that Ben Affleck would play Batman in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel, fan reaction has followed the Kübler-Ross model to the letter. First, there was the shock of denial (Affleck, really?), followed by intense fan anger on Twitter, then bargaining — as seen in the White House petition to make Affleck's Batman role illegal — and now, in the penultimate stage before acceptance, we have depression. "Ben Affleck Is a Good Choice for Batman; Batman Is Not a Good Choice for Ben Affleck," went the Huffington Post headline, summarizing a concerned-for-Affleck sentiment that Vulture's Zach Dionne put best: "The man who directed the latest Oscar winner for Best Picture is going to be directed by the man who did Sucker Punch." Why, so many wonder, would Affleck take a cash-grab superhero gig just as he's won back the admiration and respect of the world who once treated him as a pop-culture punch line?

Because he still wants to be a gigantic movie star, that's why.

"Wrecking Ball" expected to debut with 80k-90k with less than two days of sales!

Industry sources say that Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" will likely see a slight dip in download sales for the week ending Aug. 25 -- but will perk up the following week. (In the week ending Aug. 18, it sold 148,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan.) The song may generate a gain of 10% to 20% in the frame that ends Sept. 1.

Because the single itself is fairly old -- it premiered in June -- there is more focus on Cyrus' new song, "Wrecking Ball." The cut premiered on iTunes late Saturday night as part of the "Bangerz" pre-order, and is off to a robust sales start. Sources suggest that it moved around 80,000 to 90,000 copies in less than two full days on sale.

Thus, Cyrus will likely end up with two songs in the top 20 on this week's Digital Songs chart -- which will be released on Wednesday, and reflects the sales week that ended on Aug. 25.

Truly, the full sales impact of the show will not be felt until next week -- after we have a full week of post-VMAs sales to examine (for the week ending Sept. 1).

Should have been the lead single tbh.

Robin Thicke's wife hides behind the bushes to catch him cheating

Robin Thicke's wife might be cool with Miley Cyrus gyrating on her hubby but she wasn't always so secure. Paula Patton said love made her "crazy".

The American actor has told Celebrity Wire that she once hid in the bushes outside the singer-songwriter's house and spied on him through the window because she suspected he was cheating.

The American actor, who married Thicke in 2005, said "love can sometimes make you crazy".

When a friend suggested Thicke might be cheating, she went to great lengths to find out if it was true.

"Before my husband was my husband - I don't know what got in my head, love makes you crazy - I drove all the way to his house and I was in his bushes trying to look through the window," she said.

"I totally got caught! Thank God I was wrong."

Patton, 37, and Thicke, 36, began dating in high school and they now have a child together.

Thicke, the son of actor Alan Thicke and actor Gloria Loring, once told Essence magazine that the secret to a successful marriage was respect.

"You have to respect that person, and that way you'll listen to them and you'll care about what they're saying," he said.

According to TMZ, Patton was unfazed by Miley Cyrus gyrating against her hubby at the 013 MTV VMAs.

Justin Timberlake STOPS MEDIA TOUR For 13-Year-Old Brain Surgery Survivor

Justin Timberlake has a new biggest fan ... a 13-year-old brain surgery survivor ... who's so impressive that JT stopped his entire media tour yesterday to spend some quality time with her.

JT was being rushed through an NYC building on his way into a live radio interview Tuesday, when he crossed paths with Tina DiLascio -- who told Justin her daughter Giana is a "Make-a-Wish" kid who underwent brain surgery last year to fix a serious blockage in her pituitary gland.

Justin was so impressed -- he stopped in his tracks -- and asked if he could meet Giana, who was waiting outside the building with her brother. We're told JT waited patiently as Tina grabbed Giana ... brought her inside ... and introduced the two.

Tina tells TMZ ... Giana and Justin chatted for several minutes. JT asked if she watched the VMAs and she lit up, telling Justin he's "The next Michael Jackson" ... to which JT bowed his head and said, "Thank you."

Giana asked if she could take a pic with Justin, who agreed ... but only under one condition -- "Only if you make it your screen saver!"

Eventually, JT had to leave ... but not before giving Giana a big hug and telling her to "be well."

And in case you're wondering ... the pic IS her screen saver now.

Happy 20th Anniversary, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!

Waking up for Saturday morning television is a pastime passed on from one generation of children to the next, with each generation defined by its particular lineup of shows. Children of the '90s had a lot to choose from but one show stood out from its peers: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Based on Japan's Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers became a success with kids across America after debuting on August 28, 1993, on Fox Kids. The series starred Austin St. John as Jason Lee Scott, the Red Ranger; Walter Jones as Zack Taylor, the Black Ranger; David Yost as Billy Cranston, the Blue Ranger; Thuy Trang as Trini Kwan, the Yellow Ranger; Amy Jo Johnson as Kimberly Ann Hart, the Pink Ranger; and Jason David Frank as Tommy Oliver, the Green/White Ranger. Supporting cast included Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy as school bullies Bulk and Skull; Carla Perez/Barbara Goodson as the evil Rita Repulsa; Ed Neil/Robert Axelrod as Lord Zedd; David Fielding/Robert Manahan as the Rangers' leader Zordon; and Richard Steven Horvitz as Zordon's sidekick Alpha 5.

Mere months after the premiere, MMPR had captured the highest Nielson ratings at the time for a network children’s TV show, receiving a 12.5 rating with children between the ages of two and 11. By 1994, the Power Rangers’s share of the market for action figures had jumped from four to 40 percent in little more than a year, earning approximately $1 billion. The perfect storm of show, toys, and other merchandise made it so that even when the show's 22 minutes were up, a kid could recreate what had just happened, or imagine a new adventure, with ease.

Over-the-top explosions, larger-than-life robots and monsters, teenagers with incredible super powers, and a theme song like an adrenaline shot to the chest—MMPR had everything. It was a for-kids, live-action drama that combined the slapstick comedy of Looney Tunes with the never-ending destruction of Godzilla.

Twenty years later and most of us who grew up with MMPR are in our '20s and early 30s. Revisiting the series now may not have the same hypnotizing effect, but it's still hard to turn away from a screen showing Rita Repulsa freeing herself from a space dumpster, or the Rangers combining their Dinozords to create the one Megazord.

So ONTD what are your memories of Power Rangers growing up. Do you have a favorite ranger? Favorite season? Favorite villain? And what it was about this series that struck such a huge chord with the kids who saw it?

Lam Lam's Home. Is The Kardashian Krack Krisis Over? Is Kris Kalling Lawyers?

Lamar Odom has finally returned home to wife Khloe Kardashian but he remains undecided about seeking treatment for drug addiction.

Odom returned to his L.A. pad Monday after going off the grid for several days. Sources reveal both Lamar and Khloe are inside the home and addressing some serious issues, including Lamar's out-of-control crack problem.

We're told there's still no talk of divorce and Khloe is determined to help Lamar get his life back on track.

One source tells us Lamar is "open to reason and listening to the people who love him the most" which is a drastic change from a week ago, when L.O. rejected an attempted intervention.

We're told no decision has been made on possible treatment, but Lamar is "receptive."

Lamar seemed to be in good spirits Monday night when he was spotted out on a gas run near the home and stopped to pose for a photo with a young fan.

The Marina Abramovic Institute Has Been Fully Kickstarted! So Thanks, Lady GaGa!

Looks like Marina Abramovic's decision to coax a naked, quartz-hugging Lady GaGa into supporting her newest project has actually paid off. The Marina Abramovic Institute Kickstarter officially reached its funding goal this week, attracting a whopping $631,963 worth of donations last time we checked.

Congratulations, contemporary performance art. You've been kickstarted by over 4,000 people.

Marina announced that she was seeking $600K from her many, many disciples almost one month ago, embarking on a series of strange and wholly "Marina" spectacles to bring attention to her cause. Besides the nude Lady Gaga yoga session, Marina answered ridiculous questions on Reddit, spearheaded a marathon reading of the 1961 sci-fi novel "Solaris," sashayed her way into Jay Z's "Picasso Baby" video, and organized a screaming flashmob in Oslo.

Essentially, she made promoting a Hollywood film look like child's play.

We're certainly happy for the Grandmother of Performance Art, who will now get to launch her performance and education center in a giant (Rem Koolhaas-designed) space in Hudson, New York later this year. We're also shocked to see the widespread support for such a niche art project -- more than 1,000 people donated between $1 and $5 alone.

Quite surprised there's no "art / artist" tag on ONTD since there are quite a lot of celebrity artists like Marina making news outside of being associated with musicians, artists, or fashion designers.

What are your thoughts on performance art, ONTD?

Jessica Simpson Debuts Ace Knute Johnson.

Boy, meet world! Almost two months to the day after welcoming her second child with fiance Eric Johnson, Jessica Simpson is still basking in the glow of new motherhood -- and proudly showing off her adorable new son on the cover of Us Weekly!

Posing with baby boy Ace, daughter Maxwell, 15 months, and former NFL star Johnson at their home in Hidden Hills, Calif., on Aug. 12, the fashion mogul was positively radiant. In an exclusive interview for the Sept. 9 issue of the magazine, she opened up about becoming a second-time mom, dealing with "hurtful" weight bullies, and planning for the future of her family.

"With two kids, we have our hands full, but every day is a new adventure," the 33-year-old singer, who gave birth to Ace via planned C-section on June 30, told Us. "It's fun! I feel very at peace with being a mom."

That said, she's not eager to add to her brood anytime soon -- if at all. Simpson found out she was pregnant with Ace less than six months after giving birth to Maxwell, so she's looking forward to just settling in as a mom of two.

"Pregnancy is a lot. It was hard to do two so close together," she confessed to Us. "I have this huge sense of accomplishment, and I feel in my heart that I'm done. But obviously, accidents do happen!"

16 & Pregnant's Kristina Head Loses Libel Case Against Perez Hilton

Not all publicity is good publicity, reality TV fans! 16 and Pregnant’s Kristina Head (formerly Robinson) learned this the hard way when a post came up on Perez Hilton’s celebrity gossip blog indicating that the reality starlet may have been involved in her late fiancé’s death.

Kristina’s baby daddy Todd Hight, Jr. passed away in a tragic drowning accident just weeks before she began filming Season 4 of 16 and Pregnant and the stress of the loss caused our girl to go into labor early with baby Lukas. The rumors started when Todd’s mother posted on his Facebook page saying shortly after his death, "They killed him. We feel like they all planned this" and "I wonder if she cared @ all."

Perez then picked up the story posting that the mother’s comments indicated Kristina “may” have been involved in Todd’s untimely death. Kristina then sued Perez for libel, but her case was thrown out before making it to trial. The judge didn’t offer specific details on the reason for his decision, but Perez's attorney argued that Kristina’s involvement with 16 and Pregnant "thrust her into the public eye," making her personal life fair game for bloggers.

Kristina went on to marry boyfriend T.J. Head and the couple had baby Tommie in January 2013. Unfortunately the couple has recently split.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are separated

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones haven't been photographed together since April 22. They've walked red carpets solo, vacationed separately with their kids, and in recent days, Douglas has been relaxing on a yacht off the coast of Sardinia – with Zeta-Jones at home in New York.

So what's really going on with one of Hollywood's most celebrated couples? In this week's new cover story, two close confidantes tell PEOPLE that they've decided to take time apart: "They're taking a break," one source says.

Neither star has filed for divorce or moved toward a legal separation, sources say.

The A-list pair, who wed in 2000 in a lavish celebration at Manhattan's Plaza Hotel, have faced more than their fair share of ups and downs over the last three years – between Douglas's 2010 cancer battle and Zeta-Jones's struggles with bipolar II disorder. “The stress has taken a toll on their marriage,” a friend tells PEOPLE.

Douglas, 68, and Zeta-Jones, 43, who have two children, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, together, decided to spend time apart soon after he came back from the Cannes Film Festival in May. Zeta-Jones had recently returned from a scheduled second round of treatment to monitor her bipolar disorder.

Those close to the couple hold out hope they can work out their differences. Says one family friend: "They want the best for their kids, no matter what happens."

Leslie Jordan Set To Join Bewitching Cast Of “American Horror Story: Coven”

Leslie Jordan Set To Join Bewitching Cast Of “American Horror Story: Coven”
The greatest cast ever assembled for TV has just gotten even more bewitching. Emmy Award-winning out actor Leslie Jordan has cast a spell on fans since he came to prominence as Karen’s frenemy Beverly Leslie on Will & Grace, but the pocket-sized scene-stealer will now face his tallest challenge yet when he’s forced to hold his own against the formidable female-heavy cast of the FX anthology series American Horror Story: Coven. Jordan is set for multiple appearances in the witchy third season of the Ryan Murphy-created hit, which will premiere October 9. While no details about his character have been revealed, Jordan will reportedly have scenes with headliner Jessica Lange.

The show’s official description reads:

American Horror Story: Coven tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

I loved him so much on Will & Grace and Sordid Lives is one of my favorites.

So, ONTD... Apparently Certain Hashtags Are Now Banned on Instagram

A website called the Data Pack just released an incomplete but interesting list of unsearchable hashtags on Instagram. By blocking specific hashtags, Instagram says they're both protecting users and — unlike Tumblr or Twitter, who don't proactively prohibit but do remove offensive content after the fact — steering the culture of the site by refusing to perpetuate pornographic and otherwise offensive or damaging pictures. Apparently Instagram and its Facebook overlords have no desire to see photos of #bubblebutts (really?) or #bigbootyhoes en masse. It's nice to know that someone is looking out for us in the wild, wild web.

Searches for #thinspiration, #probulimia, and #proanorexia similarly come up with no results and show that the social-media network also has no tolerance for pro-ana culture. Porn-y and otherwise sexist terms like #tipsydumbcunt, #whore, and other sex acts are also prohibited, as is pretty much any variation of #boobs or #dicks.

Interestlingly enough, the hashtag czars of Instagram also block things they deem "generic" or that don't provide enough "high-end user value." You can't search for #photography, #iphone, or the New York restaurant #beautyandessex (although we'd put that squarely in the offensive category).  Sometimes, as the list reveals, Instagram gets a little prudish: Users can't search for a collection of photos pertaining to the #sexpistols, and if you choose to Instagram while running, you'd better like it, because #fuckrunning is also blocked. On second thought, as much as I hate exercise, I'd hate to see what the #fuckrunning search would turn up. So thanks, Instagram.

Well, that was interesting. I'd like to see how this would affect the Instagram accounts of certain celebs *cough*MileyCystrus*cough* who constantly post racy photos. Are you for or against banning certain hashtags on Instagram, ONTD? Also, what hashtags do you commonly search for?

Rumor: ‘The Good Dinosaur’ Director Bob Peterson is allegedly ousted.

Pixar has a generally fantastic track record, and the studio’s approach to crafting films relies heavily upon continual editing and revision. Story and dialogue are examined in minute detail, and scenes are subjected to constant review to ensure everything has a place.

That process of editing and examination can extend even to the personnel involved in the making of a film. Sometimes that means that people leave, or are fired; sometimes it means that the general direction of a film can be altered dramatically. Ratatouille started off as a very different film than the one Brad Bird eventually shepherded to the screen; Brenda Chapman was famously cut from her directorial position on the film that became Brave.

The latest report out of Pixar is that The Good Dinosaur is the latest project to “evolve,” with the director and producer being let go as the studio re-examines the film’s direction.

Collapse )

I'm side-eyeing the crap out of this news. This is the 3rd time in recent Pixar history (4th, if you count Ratatouille) that the director has been removed suddenly from the project? I trust Peterson more then anyone else at Pixar to provide a quality story, so I don't know what to make of this, especially so late into production.

Timeriders' Alex Scarrow Talks About His Love for the 8th Doctor & His 50th Anniversary E-Book

What drew you to Paul McGann's one-off incarnation? Was there a particular trait or aspect of his personality that led you to write for him? Since he only appeared once there must be a driving force behind penning a story for the eighth Doctor?

I wanted the most obscure Doctor. Paul McGann's Doctor only ever had one feature length outing, although to be fair, the 8th Doctor has had a lot of books and audio books, but for me, being very film oriented, I wanted more room to manoeuvre on that side. Plus...I'm a big fan of Paul McGann.

What does Justin Timberlake think of Ben Affleck playing BATMAN?

The Internet has been negatively a-buzz lately following the announcement that Ben Affleck would be cast as the next Batman. This is one of those topics that gets fan-boys and movie buffs in quite a tizzy but it’s especially funny that it’s happening to Ben right now, being that he’s already explained what the internet is used for. When Justin Timberlake stopped by the Fresh 102.7 studios to chat with the Jim & Kim morning show this week (August 27), he tried to put some of those fears of #Batfleck to rest.

“Ben Affleck as Batman, I like it,” says Justin. “I worked with Ben last summer and I’ve seen his process. I think he’s a brilliant filmmaker. I think he’s an extreme talent so he could surprise a lot of people.”But what if Ben called him to play Robin… would he be game? “Not a chance in hell,” says Justin. “I ain’t playin’ Robin. I have no aspiration to ever be a superhero in a movie. Now VILLAIN! I’ll tell you the villain I want to play more than anything because I grew up loving Batman, funny enough, is the Riddler. The Riddler is my favorite villain.”
“The Riddler was like a sociopath,” Timberlake continued. “He was proper crazy. So if I’m gonna play crazy, I’m wanna play proper crazy.I’m ready. The Riddler. Gimme a call.”

Jared Leto on VMAs, Miley Cyrus Outrage: 'It's Not the Kennedy Center Honors'

30 Seconds To Mars' Jared Leto hadn't read all the uproar surrounding Miley Cyrus' twerk-tastic performance at the VMAs when his band swung by the Billboard studios on Monday, but having seen the performance in-person the night before he didn't understand the fuss either.

"I do think it's interesting how shocked people get," he said. "If they could only see the rave their kids are going to and what their kids are wearing at the rave. Or just watch the video games they're playing. Those are probably the more shocking things in life right now."

"It's the MTV Awards. It's not the Kennedy Center Honors. It's supposed to be out there and wild and titillating."

During the VMA pre-show, the band won and accepted the award for Best Rock Video, on behalf of its epic eight-and-a-half-minute clip for "Up In The Air," featuring appearances from Dita Von Teese, the 2012 U.S. women's gymnastics team among others. Leto also introduced friend Kanye West during the main show to kick off the latter's performance of "Blood On The Leaves," making him the oldest person (he's 41) to grace the VMA stage this year and a symbol of the previous MTV generation.

"When we were younger it was Madonna rolling around in a dress," he said, continuing on his Miley rant. "Now that seems tame compared to what's going on, right?"

17 Year-Old American Victoria Duval Upsets 2011 US Open Champ Samantha Stosur in 1st Round

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

NEW YORK — Her brothers played tennis. Victoria Duval was more into ballet.

But while tagging along to watch them at a tournament, the director said she’d be better off playing than sitting there watching in her mom’s lap.

“It was a 10-and-under tournament, I think, and I won it,” Duval said. “I had no idea where to stand on the court or anything. After that, my mom said, ‘OK, you have to choose now.’ Tennis seemed to be appropriate.”

Twitter Reverses The Flow Of Its Timeline In Effort To Humanize It For Newbies

Twitter just flipped the format of its timeline with a new conversation view. The full timeline will still show in the traditional ‘newest stuff at the top’ view, but now there are linked conversations which display tweets in an easier-to-understand format.

At first glance, this might seem like a simple update that links related tweets together with a thin blue line and a fancy expandable box. But the reasons for this go deeper than just making it easier to read. It’s also making it feel more human and less Twitter.

The new view is rolling out on, as well as in the iPhone and Android apps and features an ‘old’ tweet first, with newer replies to it in order afterwards.

Here’s an example of an expanded conversation in a timeline (only a couple of the replies are visible until you spread them out):

Note the timestamps along the side. Instead of the traditional ‘countdown’ as you go up, the tweets actually get older, not newer. This is a reversal of the way that Twitter has worked before.

The new conversation view isn’t just about making it easier to read connected stuff though, it’s also about taking advantage of the unique nature of Twitter. This harkens back to the ‘Town Hall’ jargon Twitter seems to be enamored with lately. These aren’t just linked conversations, they’re linked conversations that are happening in real-time. That’s something that no other network currently has going for it at such a scale and in public.

There is a ton of stuff going on in the messenger space, with WhatsApp garnering hundreds of millions of users, Instagram tweaking its platform to be ‘messenger’ friendly and Facebook surfacing messaging features in a big way. But Twitter might actually scoop them all by making itself more welcoming to coherent, readable conversations. (And it also helps explain why Twitter wanted control of its basic experience so badly that it cut third-party developers off at the knees.)

They are rumoured to be enjoying a rekindled romance, having reunited for the film X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The pair were seen in Montreal, Canada recently on a break from filming, where Nicholas, 23, had run out to buy breakfast.

Jennifer, 23, was dressed down in a tight grey vest top with a lumberjack shirt and black hat, while Nicholas also went low-key in a black t-shirt and combat shorts.

Kris Jenner's Talk Show Kancelled.

Kris Jenner has been told by FOX executives that her six-week trial run at being a talk show host will be just that — it’s not coming back for a second run.

The mother-of-six turned manager was recently told, “There was no chance the talk show is going to get a green light from FOX. The ratings were averaging an abysmal 0.8 and advertisers were less than enthusiastic about it.”“Kris did get a ratings bump for her last show when Kanye West revealed the first baby pic of daughter, North West, with Kim, but that was a one time shot in the arm and it wouldn’t be indicative of what the ratings trend would be,” the source close to the production claims.

The revelation about Jenner’s demise leaves few standing in the crowded field of daytime talkers, including Katie Couric thanks, Steve Harvey, as well as fall hopefuls Queen Latifah and Bethenny Frankel. Jeff Probst and Ricki Lake were also cancelled after one season. “It’s a very crowded market and Kris didn’t do anything to set herself apart from the field. Believe it or not, most of America doesn’t want to hear about the Kardashian’s for an hour everyday,” the source revealed.

FOX’s panel-format talk show The Real — which, like Kris, launched its test run on July 15 — is “expected to be picked up” after it edged out Kris in the key female demographics. FOX isn’t expected to make a formal announcement for a few weeks, out of respect to current situation engulfing the family ‹ the marital crisis of Khloe Kardashian and husband Lamar Odom. “It will be announced in a low key fashion, probably on a Friday afternoon so it won’t generate a ton of negative press for Kris,” the insider added.

Liam Hemsworth Mortified By Fiancee Miley Cyrus’ Raunchy VMA Performance..

He Doesn’t Want To Babysit Her Anymore,’ Says Pal

Miley Cyrus and her on-again-off-again fiancé Liam Hemsworth have had a rocky relationship, but the singer’s raunchy performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night has put a whole new strain on their relationship and has exclusively learned the Hunger Games actor is mortified.

The 20-year-old twerked her way to controversy by grinding up on Robin Thicke — even grabbing his privates — with her tongue wagging out and an insider reveals Liam could not be going in a more clean-cut career path, which has him worried about his relationship with Miley.

“Liam really does care about Miley, but her racy new look and sort of ghetto attitude isn’t exactly what he signed up for,” a pal tells Radar.

“Her VMA performance absolutely mortified him and he couldn’t be more embarrassed. He doesn’t really see anything sexy about what she did on stage.”

It should be noted that Liam wasn’t even present for her VMA performance, but got an earful about it after it aired.

And as if the couple weren’t already having issues in their relationship, the insider tells Radar that Miley’s pushing Liam further and further away — even though she’s desperate to make it work with him.

“It’s not just Liam that Miley is pushing away…his entire team is urging him to part ways with her because she’s nothing but negative for his reputation and career,” the source says.

“Liam is a serious actor with a growing career, while Miley has just turned into a joke.”

The insider is adamant that Miley’s wild behavior is just too much and Liam won’t take it for much longer.

“It’s pretty much over. He knows he can’t stay with her when this is who she’s become,” the source concluded.

“He doesn’t want to babysit her anymore. He has to move on.”

Leah Remini Joins Cast of 'Dancing With the Stars'

Leah Remini is ready to hit the dance floor.
The King of Queens star joins the cast of the long-running reality series not long after parting ways with the Church of Scientology for questioning its treatment of church members and the allegedly autocratic leadership of David Miscavige. The 43-year-old actress has joined the cast of ABC's Dancing With the Stars, sources close to the show have confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. Now entering its 17th season, the ballroom dancing competition will see some significant changes, including a shift to a single, two-hour airing per week.
Among the other cast members floated by TMZ are Valerie Harper, who was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, Jersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi andShowgirls star Elizabeth Berkley.

ABC has declined comment. An official cast announcement will be made Sept. 4 on Good Morning America.

Is Harry Connick Jr. The New Judge On Idol?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With auditions already underway for the next season of AMERICAN IDOL, FOX has yet to announce its full lineup of judges who will replace exiting panelists Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. Earlier in the week, music producer Dr. Luke backed out of an offer to join the show's new season.

Now Deadline reports that Harry Connick Jr., who mentored on the last season of the show, may jump into the final judge's seat alongside Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez. According to the report, Connick Jr. is on the "short list of candidates" to fill the spot.

In May the Broadway vet appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and commented on the possibility of judging. "Well, yeah, I mean I had a really good time!," he shared. "I had a good time mentoring. Judging is a whole different deal, I don't know how good I would be at that."

In addition to his recent starring role in the Broadway revival of On A Clear Day You Can See Forever the actor returned to Broadway during the summer of 2010 for 15 sold-out performances of Harry Connick, Jr. In Concert at the Neil Simon Theatre. His previous Broadway performances include the Tony-nominated turn as Sid Sorokin in the 2006 revival of The Pajama Game.

Paul Ramon Narrates 'Glass Walls'

Narrated by and starring Sir Paul McCartney, PETA's shocking new video takes its inspiration from the most well-known quote in the animal rights movement and offers a brief glimpse behind the walls of slaughterhouses, factory farms, live-animal transport and the fishing industry. By teaming up with PETA to produce the powerful video – titled, "Glass Walls" – Sir Paul is helping to uncover the horrific abuse that the meat and dairy industries inflicts on animals to provide consumers with cheap burgers, nuggets and other products. He also explains the massive cost to the environment for which the meat industry is directly responsible.

Billions of individual animals are violently killed for their flesh every year – whilst others spend almost their entire lives confined to filthy, cramped conditions, where they are forced to produce seemingly endless supplies of eggs or gallons of milk.

"Glass Walls" goes deeper into the meat and dairy industries than any video we have produced before.

The video contains real-life footage of cows, chickens, sheep and other animals who are abused on factory farms across Europe and around the world – animals who all feel pain and fear just as you or I do and who were born to loving mothers solely so that one day, they could be killed and eaten.

This video is only a few  minutes long, but most animals endure abuse like this for their entire lives.

"Glass Walls" is a must-see video for meat-eaters and vegans alike: ask yourself, "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, would I go vegan?" Watch the video, take the Pledge to Go Vegan and then forward this to your friends.

New Star Wars: Episode VII Rumor Brings Two New Actors Into The Mix

Until J.J. Abrams, Disney and Lucasfilm actually announce who will be starring in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII we will continue to hear a seemingly-endless stream of casting rumors - and that continues today. Following up on their claims that actors like Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron have been looked at for roles in the new Star Wars film, Latino Review is now saying that the production is now considering actors Alex Pettyfer and Rachel Hurd-Wood for roles in the sci-fi movie.

While the site doesn't have any information regarding the character that Pettyfer is going out for, their guess is that he is trying out for the part of Luke Skywalker's son (which, mind you, isn't a character that has been confirmed to be in the movie). What's more, the site adds that Gosling wound up turning down the part he was "offered," which is what may have opened the door to Pettyfer being called in.

But while the site's sources don't seem to have any confirmed details about the character that Pettyfer is looking to play, they are a bit more specific about Hurd-Wood's potential part. The rumor says that she has gone in to read for the "daughter of Princess Leia (and presumably Han Solo)." The article stresses that the actress doesn't have the part yet (a part that may or may not actually exist), but adds that she is the only one who has gone in thus far.

All of these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, but it's worth mentioning that both Pettyfer and Hurd-Wood do seem to fit descriptions of characters that were found in a casting call back in June. That report said that the production was looking for a "Late-teen female," a "young twenty-something male" and a "second young female, also late teens." At 21 Pettyfer seems like a match, and while Hurd-Wood just recently turned 21 she can probably still get away with playing a teenager.

Pettyfer has gotten some solid parts in high-profile films in the last couple years, taking starring roles in movies like I Am Number Four, Beastly, In Time and Magic Mike, but has yet to really have his big breakout. He can currently be seen in theaters playing a hyper-violent plantation owner in Lee Daniels' The Butler, and is now in production on the remake of Endless Love, neither of which really seem like a stepping stone to Star Wars. Hurd-Wood, meanwhile, got her start playing Wendy in the 203 live-action version of Peter Pan and has since been featured in movies like Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, Dorian Gray and Solomon Kane. A role in Star Wars would easily be er most high profile role yet and could completely change her career.

While we remain skeptical about the validity of this news, do you think casting these two actors would be a good move for the film?

Journalist Compares Macklemore To Martin Luther King Jr.

Macklemore’s “Same Love” retained its position in the Billboard Hot 100’s top 20 this week. His poignant song promoting marriage equality has topped the charts all summer.

The song was penned and released in 2012 for the explicit purpose of helping the Washington Marriage Equality movement. In a somewhat surprising and invigorating turn of events, Washington went on to win equal marriage rights.

“Same Love” has defied all expectations, rising to a peak of No. 11 on the Billboard charts. The song is being played everywhere from parties to car radios and now on MTV’s Video Music Awards.

“Same Love” challenges the right-wing conservatives who think it’s a decision to be gay, and it doesn’t hesitate to slam those people for “playing God” by trying to turn gay people straight. It tasks America for her failure to learn from her past mistakes in denying human rights, then offers up a solution with marriage equality: “a certificate on paper isn’t gonna solve it all / But it’s a damn good place to start.”

The song is not original in its call for equal rights. Fifty years ago this week, a man named Martin Luther King, Jr gave his most famous oratory “I Have a Dream.”

MLK declared, “Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children,” as he called America to peacefully demand rights for all of her citizens and to end racial discrimination.

In the same way that MLK dreamed that “my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character,” Macklemore dreams that one day “my uncles can be united by law,” and there will be no more “kids … walking ‘round the hallway plagued by pain in their heart / A world so hateful some would rather die than be who they are.”

Sexist Blogger tries to shame Ellen Page for not wearing Lululemon, thinks tee + shorts = rebellious

In an eye-roll worthy attempt at insecure male self preservation, blogger Moe Jackson decided to crack the patriarchy whip at Ellen Page yesterday in response to the actress daring to choose comfort while working out - rather than dressing herself in something a bit more 'tight-fitting'.

In an article entitled 'Lululemon needs to send Ellen Page a Care Package', the blogger wrote:

"It’s painful to see that she dresses like a 5th grade boy when she goes to the gym—especially in West Hollywood. You’d think her trainer would have the decency to at least take Ellen shopping. Then again, who knows what’s really going on? It’s possible that Ellen is a total rebel and wants to simply go against the trend of wearing tight-fitting workout clothes to the gym."

The almost identical attire on Page's male trainer/admirer was left unscathed.

Chris Kirkpatrick talks VMA's, Miley, *NSYNC, and whatever he's doing now

Chris Kirkpatrick was in the recording studio two weeks ago when a phone call came in from Justin Timberlake. "I thought to myself, 'This is weird,'" Kirkpatrick says. "We usually talk about once every other week, and we'd just spoken five days earlier. I called him back and we caught up. At the end he said, 'Oh, there's another reason I called. I'm getting this award, and I'm wondering if you think the other guys might be interested in coming and performing?' I was like, 'For you, of course.'"

Kelly Osbourne to pal Miley Cyrus after VMAs performance: 'Put your f--king tongue in your mouth!'

The 'Fashion Police' correspondent had some advice for her good friend after Cyrus' much talked about actions and ensemble at MTV's Video Music Awards Sunday.

Kelly Osbourne dished out advice to her friend Miley Cyrus after her VMA performance: 'I love you, but just put your tongue in your mouth.'

Even Miley Cyrus’ closest friends have something to say about her MTV Video Music Award performance.

Kelly Osbourne offered out some advice to the 20-year-old "We Can’t Stop” singer after her jaw-dropping twerktastic display at Sunday's show.

"Look, Miley's my friend and I love her, and I have her back no matter what, but as her friend I'm going to tell her - put your f--king tongue in your mouth! I love you, but just put your tongue in your mouth," Osbourne said Monday while co- hosting E!'s “Fashion Police.”

Cyrus repeatedly licked her lips and stuck out her tongue while singing with Robin Thicke during their salacious rendition of his hot summer hit "Blurred Lines."

As for the nude colored latex bikini Miss Cyrus donned, the fashion expert said, “We're not talking about her performance, we're talking about what she's wearing ... It's not that original (the bikini) but I do appreciate its reminiscent of the 'Blurred Lines' music video."

Osbourne recalled a much more creative getup that “Lady Gaga wore to the Grammy's three years ago when she came out of an egg.”

It's not all negativity coming out of Hollywod post-Cyrus' tongue-wagging performance. "American Idol" alum Adam Lambert, who was also a presenter at the show, took to Twitter to defend the former "Hannah Montana" star.

"Listen if it wasn't ur cup of tea — all good but why is everyone spazzing? Hey — she's doin something right. We all talkin," he wrote.

"Hold up! I didn't actually state whether or not I liked @MileyCyrus performance. I merely said she was having fun and to cut her some slack," he later clarified in another tweet.

Is Breaking Bad Pro-Obamacare?

When Breaking Bad first aired on AMC in January 2008, the country wasn’t yet in a recession and Obamacare wasn’t a word, but the health-care debate was front and center.

“Teen Wolf” has a bad habit of picking off women and POCs

Television should be about fair, equal and honest representation of people and how they interact with various stimuli in their environments. It should also be about how the writers and creators of the shows choose to depict these interactions. It should be, but for the majority of shows, it isn’t. And “Teen Wolf”, despite doing some things well, tends to drop the ball on its characters of color, on its women (and on women characters of color, of course). Actually, maybe that’s too much of a pass on my part. “Teen Wolf” doesn’t drop the ball — it flings it into the sky with a slingshot and a general air of indifference as to where it will land again.

It feels a little like certain characters on “Teen Wolf” should immediately begin to count down the days until their end, because no matter what they do or say, they’re always going to be overshadowed by their whiter and/or male-er counterparts — something that tends to hold true in real life as well. It wouldn’t be so infuriating to me if I cared about this show half as much, and, most importantly, if show creator Jeff Davis wasn’t bent on depicting Beacon Hills as a make-believe world filled with niceties and non-judgment and Absolutely No Homophobia, Ever.

On paper it’s an odd fit but the decision to explore this new musical terrain is absolutely inspired.

While the track is a pastiche of sounds from different eras, it never sounds lazy or derivative. “Outta Time” owes a huge debt to Bhasker’s multi-layered, shimmery production but Natalia rises to the occasion. There’s an unexpected rawness to her vocal that recalls Dusty Springfield (a huge compliment) and the chorus is an absolute monster. Listen after the jump.

Pop star Cheryl Cole has defended her decision to have a giant tattoo of English roses inked on her bottom and lower back after her artist posted an image of the design online.

Nikko Hurtado, who owns the Black Anchor tattoo studio in Hesperia, California, put the image on his Instagram page on Saturday. Within hours, fans of the 30-year-old singer had posted their opinion of the tattoo on the star's Twitter page.

Cole confirmed the image was of her bottom and said she had been hiding the design for eight months before it was detailed. She wrote: "People are entitled to their own opinion. Personally I've never really concerned myself with other people's body parts! I've had it for seven-eight months but only just had it detailed. I can pretty much safely say I'm now done!"

She added that the tattoo took around 15 hours to complete and she chose English roses as they are her favourite flowers.

Jamie Foxx Says He, Will Smith, Jay Z, Kanye Should Be the New Civil Rights Leaders

Speaking off-the-cuff, without prepared remarks at Wednesday’s March on Washington 50th anniversary event, actor Jamie Foxx called on his peers in the entertainment industry to pick up where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and other civil rights leaders left off. Foxx said it was up to him, “Will Smith, Jay Z, Kanye, Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington” and others to continue the struggle for equality.”

“I will tell you right now that everybody my age and all the entertainers, it is time for us to stand up and renew this dream,” Foxx began. He said he as “affected” and inspired to action by the Trayvon Martin case and the Newtown shooting and urged others to join him in speaking out.

Foxx told a story about a dinner he had with the legendary Harry Belafonte–complete with an expert impression of the singer’s voice–and his 19-year-old daughter. When Belafonte reflected on marching with “Al, Jesse and Martin” he and his daughter did not at first know he was referring to Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Martin Luther King.

“What we need to do now is the young folks pick it up now,” Foxx told the crowd, “so that when we’re 87 years old, talking to the young folks, we can say it was me, Will Smith, Jay Z, Kanye, Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington, the list goes on and on.”

21 (5) Jane Austen (and Austen-Related) Movies and Miniseries, Ranked

This month’s Austenland stars Keri Russell as a drippy Jane Austen fanatic who shells out her savings for an immersive Regency experience — complete with fake proposals and, at least for our heroine, real romance. It’s the latest entry in an Austen film canon that includes period adaptations, modern updates, and meta-films about contemporary Janeites, unhappy in love, who yearn for a simpler and more corseted time — or perhaps just for Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy.

I went into this exercise — ranking the following 21 Austen and Austen-adjacent films — believing that I was impartial. But like Lizzy Bennet, I was confronted by my pride and prejudice in favor of a few that premiered when I was an impressionable young lady unacquainted with the ways of the world. Apparently, the mid-nineties were the best years for Jane Austen fans since the early 1800s. Express your pert opinions about the ranking below, but be civilized.

20-21. Mansfield Park, 1999 and Mansfield Park, 2007 (ITV miniseries)
Which is worse? A weird postcolonial reimagining of Mansfield Park that adds so much pluck and personality to insipid heroine Fanny Price that she can’t rationally function in Austen’s plot — or a version as meek and bland as poor Fanny at her mousiest? Fans will debate (I actually like the former), but no one has done this novel real justice yet. Screenwriters, take note.
