'My fantasy life used to outweigh that more and now I've kind of balanced it, which is a lot healthier,' she said in the article published Wednesday.

Definitely the most interesting celebrity couple.
The Hollywood Reporter had posted an extensive article on how Ben Affleck said say yes to playing the Caped Crusader in Zack Snyder’s 2015 Man of Steel follow-up. The article says several other actors like Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin were approached before Affleck, but they passed. Snyder reached out to Affleck to check the star’s interest and indeed he was curious.
Once Affleck was curious and satisfied, initial talks focusing on story and character began. WME’s Patrick Whitesell and Ziffren Brittenham’s Sam Fischer began negotiating his role in the Superman sequel.
Sources tell THR that Affleck has been signed for multiple movies, should sequels continue to proliferate. The package potentially lines Affleck up to star in (and maybe direct) Warner Bros.’ answer to The Avengers–the eventual Justice League movie. The talks were so secretive that many Warner Bros. execs and most WME agents remained unaware of their existence.
Christopher Nolan at one point offered Affleck the chance to direct “Man of Steel.” Affleck declined, seemingly because of a desire not to return to the world of superheroes although being an avowed comic book fan.
Affleck will shoot “Gone Girl” opposite Rosamund Pike from September until February, then shift to Superman/Batman film from February to August (while doing pre-production on Live By Night), then tackle that film, a Prohibition gangster movie, as writer-director-star next fall.
Because it’s considered a sequel to Man of Steel and not a Batman movie, any potential underperformance issues won’t ultimately land on Affleck’s shoulders.
Lady Gaga promised a ''giant metaphor'' for her opening act, but delivered a fairly subtle song-and-dance instead. After a bizarro, bug-eyed, extreme-close-up opening with her face poking through what appeared to be a white wall, she stepped back and revealed a sort of nun's habit with pearls — which, naturally, was quickly stripped off by her dancers ... but not before a chorus of ''boos'' played.
This confusion quickly gave way to a sleek and fast-moving, if underwhelming perfomance. In her all-black leotard, she was able to blow through a series of surface-y costume changes, aided by her Sprockets-like dancers. Did Gaga reclaim the downward-spiraling Artpop promotional cycle? No. But she didn't let her concept drown out the music, either.
She has the eye — and the sports bra — of the tiger! Perry closed the show beneath the Brooklyn Bridge in the night's only remote performance with a full on Rocky-Balboa-with-boobs tribute, building a boxing ring in the shadow of one of New York's most classic landmarks. She shadowboxed, she jumped rope, she ''Roar''-ed. It was sincerely fun and a little bit camp and very very Katy. Exactly the kind of silly, no-subtext fun the VMAs are made for.

Simon Cowell showered Lauren Silverman with love over the weekend as the pair enjoyed a romantic getaway in St. Tropez, France.
The "X Factor" judge, 53, held hands with his pregnant girlfriend as they strolled along the city streets before grabbing some lunch on Aug. 25. Silverman's baby bump was on full display in a clingy black dress.
This is the first time the couple has been spotted out together since the baby news broke back in July.
Cowell confirmed that he was expecting his first child with the New York socialite last week, telling reporters at the "One Direction: This Is Us" London premiere, "I'm proud to be a dad [...] It's something I hadn't thought of before, but now I know I feel good about it."
Silverman, 36, who recently reached a divorce settlement with her husband of 10 years Andrew Silverman, looked happy and healthy while on vacation with Cowell. She will share custody of her 7-year-old son Adam with Andrew.

Walter White is an abuser. We know he is a grade-A emotional manipulator, yes, but what has become increasingly evident over the last several seasons is that he’s something far more dangerous and terrible, all the more so when we haven’t known exactly what to what to call him. Abuse, at its core, is about dominance; it’s about control, which has always been the watchword of Heisenberg.
The coercive tactics Walt employs with systematic regularity are well-documented not only in domestic violence situations but also other forms of coercion, like the so-called Stockholm Syndrome that hostages experience, the brainwashing method of cults, or even the torture perpetrated on prisoners of war. Yes, Walt’s abuse is not physical, but therein lies the trick: He destroys the people around him in a way that leaves no marks, no evidence. (Remember the way Walt forced his way back into his home in Season 3, and Skyler finally called the police to remove him? They asked if he’d hit her, and when she said no, they shrugged and left.)

“I think that was really, really disturbing. That young lady who is 20, is obviously deeply troubled, deeply disturbed, clearly has confidence issues, probably eating disorder and I don’t think anybody should have put her on stage. That was disgusting and embarrassing … That was not attractive. That was not fun. That was not funny. That was really, really bad for anybody who’s younger and impressionable and she’s really messed up … The whole thing was cringe worthy but I feel bad for her. She is a mess. Someone needs to take care of her. Someone needs not to put her on stage and make a complete fool of herself.” — MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski

"Sherlock wronged Mycroft several years ago - he did something Mycroft thought was nearly unforgivable," executive producer Robert Doherty explains, "but Sherlock never really understood what the big deal was." Shot on location in London, the CBS hit's second-season premiere concludes as Mycroft levels the playing field with his younger sibling in a most incendiary manner. "What you see in this picture, believe it or not, is Sherlock and Mycroft approaching a kind of rapprochement," Doherty says. "But in a way that only two Holmes brothers could." The game is afoot!

When Jane Lynch filed for divorce last month she said she and Dr. Lara Embry were just “two people who just decided it’s better to go apart than stay together” and implied their split would be the most amicable ever.
That changed on Friday when Embry filed her response to Lynch’s petition and asked the court to award her spousal support and to require the Glee star pay her attorney fees. According to her own petition, Lynch didn’t want to do either.
Their lawyers will now start battling over the big bucks Lynch has been making on Glee [80,000 per episode], her recent Broadway stint in Annie, her hosting gig on NBC’s Hollywood Game Night and several endorsement deals.
The actress and the psychologist wed in Massachusetts in 2010 during a time when same sex unions weren’t legal in California; they filed for domestic partnership status in the Golden State at the same time.
With same sex marriages again legal in CA, Lynch filed for divorce in her home state.
Now millions of legal and show business eyes will now be on the case as it becomes the highest profile same sex split in the country.

They said Bye, Bye, Bye to their boy band days years ago, but on Sunday night, 'NSYNC took center stage – albeit briefly – at the MTV Video Music Awards and it was just like old times.
Justin Timberlake accepted his Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award (prior to taking home the night's top prize for video of the year), telling the packed crowd, "I don't deserve this award, but I'm not going to give it back," after he performed a bunch of singles, including "SexyBack," "Suit & Tie," "Mirrors" and "Cry Me a River." After presenter Jimmy Fallon called him the President of Pop and gave other effusive praise, Timberlake said, "I'm taking Jimmy on the road with me, that was incredible."
Mid-performance, the room went silent for a couple of seconds and suddenly attendees, including Lady Gaga, jumped out of their chair in excitement to see Timberlake and his four fellow former band mates – Lance Bass, J.C. Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick – bust out some of their classic dance moves, while belting out "Girlfriend" and "Bye, Bye, Bye," which is the song PEOPLE readers voted they were most hoping to hear.
Up until this point, no one had officially confirmed the much-hyped reunion, which took place at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, was really happening.
The performance was a highlight for many of the show's celebrity guests.
"Their voices were so vulnerable and open," Jordin Sparks, whose favorite 'NSYNC song is "Gone," told PEOPLE prior to the performance. "I also love 'Bye Bye, Bye' and 'It's Gonna Be Me.' I'm going to be up in my chair dancing or on the ground because I've fainted. It's going to be either one."
Modern Family's Sarah Hyland also professed her love for the five guys. "Freaking out" about their upcoming performance, she said, "I was a huge fan growing up. I was that girl listening to the CD and looking at the pamphlet memorizing all the words. When I was little, my favorite was JC. I thought he was so cute! Everyone was obsessed with Justin, but not me. JC was always hot to me."
Jennifer Hudson was happy because the group reminds her of her childhood, and even Ed Sheeran showed some love for the boys, calling himself a "fan."
"I love 'Dirty Pop,' " he said. "That's my favorite. It makes me want to start dancing and circulate my head every time I hear it."
And from the way it sounds, Timberlake, himself, was pleased to be back in action with his pals.
After thanking every video director, his manager and his folks (but not wife Jessica Biel!), he said, "But most of all, half of the moonmen I ever won, I won with those four guys right there. So above all else, we can keep it at my house, but I'm going to share this award with them."
To top it off, the group of guys haven't just reunited on stage. They're all together in cyberspace, having joined Twitter on Saturday.
The very first Tweet that came from their verified account said, "Mic check, mic check one.. two... is this thing on?!"

Kanye West spares nothing when it comes to properly sharing his art, but for his Sunday night (August 25) performance at the 2013 Video Music Awards, Mr. West was all about making a big statement while keeping it very minimal for the first live rendition of "Blood on the Leaves."
In contrast to his jolting performances of the Yeezus single "Black Skinhead," which came complete with threatening hooded figures and ferocious barking dogs, the controversial rapper, producer and self-proclaimed "Michael Jordan of music" — which Jared Leto so graciously pointed out during his introduction — turned down both the intensity and the lights for "Blood on the Leaves."
The song began with a very dim light illuminating only 'Ye's face, with the rest of the set shrouded in black, as the haunting refrain of the "Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees" came through the speakers in Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
Not until the beat of the song dropped were viewers finally able to see that Steve McQueen's "Lynching Tree" was the only thing that Kanye had commissioned as his backdrop for the night. The painting depicts a tree outside of New Orleans where slaves were once hung, with their graves littered across the ground under the leaves.

Some awards were handed out at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, but, really, only Wikipedia and Kanye West keep track of those. Bruno Mars played the excellent “Gorilla,” the finest Def Leppard tribute song you’ve heard all year. Katy Perry closed the show with an enjoyable, boxing-themed staging of her jock-rock single “Roar,” which was hyped throughout the broadcast, inaccurately, as her “biggest hit ever.”

They don't call her the Material Girl for nothin'.Madonna came in at No. 1 on Forbes' list of the top-earning celebrities for the period of June 2012 to June 2013, surpassing the likes of director Steven Spielberg and music mogul Simon Cowell. The $125 million the magazine estimated the 55-year-old Queen of Pop made was largely due to the massive success of her MDNA world tour, which grossed a whopping $305 million. That's in spite of her album of the same name flopping on the charts, selling less than a million copies in the U.S.Also helping Madonna reach the milestone was the trek's merchandise sales as well as the big bucks she's made recently off such business endeavors as her fragrance, fashion line and various investments.
Her nearest rival was Spielberg who raked in $100 million thanks to the box office hit that was his most recent film, Lincoln, along with royalties he earns from his library of movies and the percentage he gets from ticket sales at Universal's theme parks.Trailing the famed filmmaker and tied in third, fourth and fifth place respectively with $95 million in the bank was Cowell, 50 Shades of Grey author E.L. James, and Howard Stern.

Here's the thing, however, about meeting Bana in person: It's impossible not to laugh when he goes off on a rant. He is undoubtedly just a naturally funny man, even if he doesn't necessarily want you to know that.
Bana's latest role is serious once again. He stars in "Closed Circuit" as a London lawyer named Martin Rose who is assigned to defend a man accused of terrorism. The deeper Martin digs, the more he learns about the government's involvement in the terrorist attack. (Jim Broadbent and Rebecca Hall are Bana's co-stars.)
Ahead, a delightfully jovial Bana discusses everything from comedy to his disappointment with "Hulk" (well, other than the fact that he didn't have to do a second "Hulk"), and his relationship with "Star Trek" fans after he destroyed the planet Vulcan.
Best song on the album.

Race in America has been a hot topic of debate this summer and Hollywood, as if on cue, has muscled its way into the conversation.
This year is shaping up to be a big one in film for African American, black and civil rights themes, offering audiences different lenses through which to consider the complex question of racial equality, both historically and in the present day.
In 2011, Hollywood had "The Help," a story of the civil rights struggle among maids in 1960s Mississippi, and in 2012, director Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" produced a novel take on slavery. Both were nominated for best picture Oscars and did well at the box office.
In 2013, there are half a dozen films to choose from, several from black directors. They include civil rights drama "Lee Daniels' The Butler," which has led the box office for the past two weekends, and Steve McQueen's "12 Years a Slave," the true story of free man who is enslaved, which premieres in October.
Already this year, audiences and critics alike have embraced "42" about Jackie Robinson, the first black to play Major League Baseball after 50 years of segregation, and "Fruitvale Station," the real-life story of Oscar Grant, a young unarmed black man killed by white police in Oakland four years ago.
The slate also includes two biopics on South African anti-apartheid leaders: Nelson Mandela in "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," due for release in November, and "Winnie Mandela," his former wife, in out in September.
Their release comes against the backdrop of the biggest discussion on race in the United States in years: the trial in the killing of unarmed African American teenager Trayvon Martin and President Barack Obama's explanation in highly personal terms of what it means to be a young black man in America have been the summer highlights.

Nick is currently helping his wife recuperate from painful injuries.
Mariah suffered a cracked rib, a fractured shoulder and several bruises last month after slipping on the set of her #Beautiful music video.
The resilient singer has continued performing and attending premieres despite the injuries and is well on her way to recovery.
"My wife is doing a lot, lot better. The physical therapy is definitely working,” he told E! earlier this month.
“She’s still got the blinged-out slings, but hopefully she won't need those pretty soon!"
Mariah is planning to release her 11th studio album, The Art of Letting Go, later this year.
Yeah, I'm so sure Nick made this decision...

The 17-year old "Artist to Watch" winner takes THR through his pre-show process -- "I'm going to nail it," he said -- and gives a post-performance update.
While most 17-year-olds are getting ready to enter their senior year of high school and maybe sweating what they'll wear to the prom, teenager Austin Mahone was preparing for a different kind of milestone: his first trip to the MTV Video Music Awards.
“I’m really excited because it is my first VMA appearance and performance and it’s going to be really good,” Mahone confided to The Hollywood Reporter two days before the big show. “I’m doing a lot of dance rehearsals. I am getting my wardrobe together. I’m training my voice, getting my singing lessons going and getting better as a dancer and a performer every day. I'm going to nail it.”

“I need a lover to give me/ The kind of love that will last always…”
I was only 11 years old when Mariah Carey’s ”Music Box” came across my path. I knew nothing about love. I didn’t know where this so-called dreamlover would take me, but I knew he would rescue me and it would be amazing. Actually, I still thought boys were pretty gross at the time. But I would sing Mariah Carey’s “Dreamlover” into my hairbrush, with the conviction of a grown woman who knew a thing or two about love. At that stage in my life, I got my love advice from Mariah and a shelf of Disney movies. If you know me, this explains a heck of a lot.

Former boxing champion Mike Tyson has fought back tears as he confessed to lying about his sobriety.
Tyson opened up about his alcoholism battle at a press conference in the US.
He told US sports show Friday Night Fights he has been struggling with substance abuse, but admitted he hopes he is finally on the road to recovery.
"I'm a bad guy sometimes. I did a lot of bad things, and I want to be forgiven. So in order for me to be forgiven, I hope they can forgive me. I wanna change my life, I wanna live a different life now. I wanna live my sober life. I don't wanna die. I'm on the verge of dying, because I'm a vicious alcoholic."
Tyson, 47, then became emotional as he announced: "I haven't drank or took drugs (sic) in six days, and for me that's a miracle.
"I've been lying to everybody else that think I was sober, but I'm not. This is my sixth day. I'm never gonna use again," Tyson said.
The former champion boxer, who was convicted of rape in the US in 1992, was in Australia in November last year for a five-day speaking tour.
During the tour Tyson said he was a "changed man".
Before arriving Down Under he promised to be on his "best behaviour" while in Australia.
"You know, you're not going to see me in the strip clubs in Australia, you're not going to see me out in the clubs in Australia. I'm not going to be getting high in Australia," Tyson said at the time.
No reported sightings of Mrs Timberlake at the VMAs but she did show up for the after-party at the Dream hotel. That’s quite a dress too. It’s sheer. There’s underwear. It looks expensive. And… all it got was an after-party? Deprived the opportunity to be shown on the carpet? Don’t say the paps aren’t useful, especially when you’re wearing something you really want to be seen in.
Is it possible that the winner of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award was only allotted a certain amount of tickets and that his wife would have to sit out? Please.

what reason is there to not have your wife at the "biggest performance of your career"? mmmmmm
Of course it does. Clearly, Miley’s inspiration for the night was none other than the queen of the VMAs herself, pop music extraordinaire, and everyday legend: Miss Britney Spears.
The following is a case study of what Miley was going for vs. what actually happened.

The story line takes place during various presidential tenures beginning with Eisenhower and progressing to our 44th president, Barack Obama. There were no shortage of truly epic audience reaction shots during last night's MTV Video Music Awards — here's a supercut of some of the best — though, in the hours following the show, one truly managed to stand out from all the rest: Will Smith, and his kids, Jaden and Willow's shocked reaction to Miley Cyrus' twerk-tastic performance
But here's the thing: Despite what your favorite blog may have told you, it turns out that the Smiths weren't responding to Miley's over-the-top antics ... they were watching Lady Gaga's show-opening performance of "Applause." And it seems they liked what they saw.
In fact, we captured the whole thing on one of our VMA All Access cameras (we have them strategically placed in and around the Barclays Center last night), and, as you can clearly see, Jaden, Willow and dad Will were digging Gaga's performance. Willow, in particular, goes nuts when "Applause's" anthemic chorus hits, and, at the end of the song, they all followed the tune's instructions and clapped loudly for the Mother Monster.
We're really not sure how the whole Miley rumor started — and that's not to say there weren't plenty of folks both inside the Barclays Center and at home who weren't shocked by her onstage efforts — but this year, we endeavored to bring you everything from the VMAs, and so, here's unedited footage. Not to debunk your daily dose of drama or anything, but let's just move on to something else. For example, what did Taylor Swift say during One Direction's acceptance speech?!?
and with that, ALL OF ONTD and the internet can stop having a damn debate!

Kanye West is known for having the occasional—well, Kanye moment.
But, as Busta Rhymes told E! News exclusively Sunday, Aug. 25, at the 2013 MTV VMAs in Brooklyn, presented by Pepsi, 'Ye's mic-snatching, gotta-have-the-last-word persona doesn't interfere with his role as a dad and family man whatsoever.
"We know Kanye West the entertainer. The Kanye that people don't know is the regular human being," Busta said on the red carpet. "And that's what we have to understand. There's a separation between the two."
"When that superstar switches on, it's a little different from what we do when the regular human being switches on," he continued. "When you're at home, you're your mother's child, you're your woman's man, you're your children's father. You're not the superstar of the house."
Busta, who just shot in New York with 'Ye and Q-Tip for his "I Wanna Thank You" music video, said he's "really happy" for Kanye and Kim Kardashian. He hasn't seen little North West just yet, but he said, "Everybody's jumping around, going crazy," over the precious 2-month-old girl.
"Kanye," Busta said, "is going to be a great dad."

The 23-year-old singer was caught saying "Shut the f**k up" to pal Selena Gomez as Styles and the rest of One Direction were thanking their fans for being so awesome, right before they went on to announce Gomez as the winner of Best Pop Video.
Swift and Styles called it quits in January after dating for just a few months, and it appears as though we can definitely expect a song about the 19-year-old on Swift's next album -- not that it's something that would bother the boy band member, mind you.
Girl needs to stop throwing shade already, this was just rude and petty tbh.
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Keith Urban is coming back to "American Idol."
Fox chairman Kevin Reilly on Thursday confirmed the return of the country music star, settling the fate of the only judge left from last season on the talent competition.
"He did a really good job last year," Reilly said to a gathering of the Television Critics Association. "The fans really like him."
Reilly said Urban didn't have a chance to show his personality. The executive didn't say why, but the country singer was routinely overshadowed by bickering between fellow judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. Their departures, along with that of Randy Jackson, were announced weeks ago, a response to the show's sagging ratings.
But Reilly was mum on who would sit beside Urban at the judges' table next season, which begins in January. Reilly said there have been discussions with Jennifer Lopez, a former judge, "but there is no deal with her or with anyone else."
"Idol" is looking for judges who make it comfortable for viewers, Reilly said. Whoever is on the panel, there will be a renewed emphasis on the contestants.
"The show always has been about the contestants," he said.
I thought he was better than this, but I guess he just wants that paper.
Despite numerous sites writing the domestic figures alone off as a bomb, director Harald Zwart still seems to have faith in the possibility of a sequel, responding to a question on tumblr with:

What do you think, ONTD? Bluff? Delusions? Or is the continued threat of a sequel to this hot mess very real?
Until the hot tub time machine becomes a reality, the answer to that question will remain as mysterious as the true identity of the '60s garage band ? and the Mysterians.
Nonetheless, academic minds are always trying to come up with a theory. Charles Darwin believed music was created as a sexual come-on. His idea is given credence by the universally acclaimed song of the summer, "Blurred Lines."
Other theorists believe music was an attempt at social glue, a way to bring early humans together into a close-knit community.
Chris Loersch, a senior research associate in psychology and neuroscience at the University of Colorado, likes that idea, and he's done research to try and prove it. He and Nathan Arbuckle, from the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, designed a series of studies to bolster it.
"This hypothesis centers on music's unique ability to influence the mood and behavior of many people at once," they write, "helping to mold individual beings into a coordinated group." They cite the power of military music, music played at sports games, and "ritualized drumming" as examples.
In a series of seven studies, the two looked at the "emotional reactions" to music of 879 individuals from U.S. universities and from abroad. They also asked the respondents how much they identify with an in-group. The subjects who said they were most affected by the music they heard had a "higher need to belong."
Loersch, whom we interviewed about the research, is quick to admit that this is not definitive proof but does help bolster the theory that "music evolved in service of group living."
Does your theory explain why we pay lots of money to congregate with other fans at a concert?
I saw a bunch of Phish shows at one point. There's a certain sense of community there, a lot of rules for how that community interacts with each other. People are bonding on a large scale, treating everybody that's camping around them as family members. I think that's what concerts are about, really becoming a group with those people around you. We put a youtube link to a concert in the paper, where somebody on stage starts waving hands to the right and left and all these people with huge intense smiles engage in exact same behavior. You can see on their faces that music is having the most intense positive effect. Forty thousand people are completely bound up in being a group member.
But you're not exactly best friends with all those people?
Even though you don't know them at all, part of our theory is that the music is there to bind you and control you, not as an individual but as a member of a group. As humans our primary motivation in life is to be a good group member. People start to feel great when they lose their individual identity and become part of this larger whole.

With only one confirmed judge for season 13, American Idol is teasing fans nearly every day with news of potential new judges joining the upcoming season.
Last season’s judges, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson have been vocal about their plans not to return to the show.
Keith Urban will be returning and there’s talk that former judge, Jennifer Lopez, will be joining him.
It seems like the perfect time to reflect upon judges past. Funnily enough, there have been exactly ten.

-It's 4X Platinum in the US
-It sold over 6 million copies worldwide
-Both 'Come Clean' and 'Sweet Sixteen' were used as the theme song to tv shows
-The success of the album and Hilary herself, saved Hollywood Records. She was then used as a prototype for future Disney stars and the sole reason as to why they're famous
-8th best selling album of 2003
-80th best selling album of the decade
-One of Hilary's favorite songs on the album is 'Where Did I Go Right?'
-Some of the lyrics to 'Come Clean' had to be changed. "Let the rain fall down and wake my dreams" was originally "Let the rain fall down and wet my dreams"
-Hilary wasn't a huge fan of 'So Yesterday' until she recorded it. Probably because of the genius lyrics that are "If the light is off than it isn't on"
-The records that 'Metamorphosis' broke and the overall success that the album achieved turned Hilary into the pop princess she is today. It gave us the followup albums 'Hilary Duff', 'Most Wanted', and 'Dignity'

Grimes has spoken out in defence of Beyonce again, calling out music snobs who dismiss the superstar because of her huge sales figures.
Earlier this year (2013) Grimes wrote a Tumblr post defending Mariah Carey, K-pop star Psy and especially Beyonce. "How can you hate Beyoncé? She's changing the world," Grimes wrote at the time. "She stands for people of colour and women everywhere succeeding in a stifling patriarchy without compromising her morals."
Now Grimes has shown further support for the singer during an interview before last night's MTV Video Music Awards, whose red-carpet coverage Grimes was hired to co-host. "In my opinion it's kind of crappy to belittle an artist such as Beyoncé just because she is successful," Grimes said. "Maybe she's successful because she earned it. You know, she's been working really hard since she was, like, a kid."
Grimes went on to praise Beyonce's artistry on stage, saying: "For me, I don't even experience her art as pop music. I think the choreography and visuals of the show, everything altogether is a new thing that works in the realm of pop music, but it's doing a bunch of other stuff too."
Grimes's love of pop music proved unpopular during a recent DJ set in Ibiza, when she apparently cleared the floor after playing songs by Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey and The Vengaboys.

As an institution, the VMAs are pointless. No one cares who wins, and despite the fact that they ostensibly honor music videos, the awards are not given to directors and are instead to the artists.
Anyways. The VMAs happened last night, and in case you didn’t watch (or read our liveblog), they made for the sort of compelling television that only a series of potential trainwrecks can. Some moments were great, some moments were horrific, and others still were complete letdowns. Katy Perry, I am looking at you.

Charli XCX is no stranger to Top 40 pop-- she co-wrote Icona Pop's "I Love It". Now, after canceling dates to work on music and again to tour with Paramore, Charli has confirmed she's working with Britney Spears, Digital Spy reports. She was asked to write for the pop singer's upcoming album, and submitted one song for the project.
I was freaking out. I didn't even want to go to the session I was so excited. I was so worried I would fuck it up... I was doing some stuff for that yesterday actually. Who knows how it will go. We've written one song and it's a great track and if she likes it then amazing. It was just an honor to be asked.

Per the description for the Instagram video (below): "Ladies we gotta pick u ahead of time for Ezoo ok? If u wanna be on stage email firstname.lastname@example.org." The video itself notes that 50 tickets will be offered to "the top twerkers." You have to be 18+ to twerk on stage. There's also a disclaimer that "videos sent to email may be used to promote contest."
Wonder if Miley will go?
Here we go again.
Imagine a world where a guy can make $12 million in three minutes, where blow jobs are a perk of the gig, dwarfs are tossed to raise employee morale, and inhaling anthills of coke, Scarface style, is encouraged. Now imagine a world where a studio would pass on a movie with a subject that titillating, even if it came tied in a Leonardo DiCaprio–and–Martin Scorsese bow. That’s the way things were looking back in 2008, when Warner Bros. dropped out of Scorsese and DiCaprio’s upcoming black comedy The Wolf of Wall Street. The two went on to make Shutter Island, then separated for other projects. But when a window in Scorsese’s schedule opened up in 2012, DiCaprio approached the director again. “I told Marty, ‘I don’t think we’ll be able to do a movie like this too many times in the future,’ ” says DiCaprio. “Larger-scale, R-rated dramas, like Blood Diamond or The Departed, don’t really get financed anymore.”

Former Hannah Montana sweetheart Miley Cyrus's gyrating bikini-clad performance at last night's MTV VMA awards left watching celebrities open-mouthed and set Twitter ablaze.
Cyrus, the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, the wholesome country and western singer with the "Achy Breaky Heart", has been raising eyebrows for the last four years as she moves further and further away from the teenage Disney channel character that set her on the way to becoming a $150m star aged just 20.
Her hyper-sexualised set, which included rubbing her butt into Robin Thicke's crotch and getting extremely personal with an oversized foam finger, drew criticism from feminists for degrading her sex and from some pundits for "picking the pocket of black culture".
Bursting out of an oversized teddy bear, Cyrus started off in a strapless one-piece leotard before stripping down to a flesh-coloured latex bikini and "twerking" her tiny frame all over the stage.
Twerking is nothing new. The provocative dance became part of hip-hop culture in the 90s when it was adopted by the New Orleans bounce music scene before being made popular by the strip clubs of Houston and Atlanta.
It has its roots in west Africa and was also popular in the Jamaican dancehalls before making it to the US.
Typically, women find ever more frenetic and acrobatic ways of "presenting" their bums to their male dance partners.
It has been claimed as an expression of women having power over their sexuality. This feels harder to swallow when it's a large part of the uber-masculine club scenes in Jamaica, west Africa and in some forms of US hip-hop.

Passion Pit has released a documentary produced by Taco Bell as part of the fast food chain's "Feed the Beat" program. The program supports bands by providing gift cards to help keep them fed while on the road, reports Billboard.
Passion Pit's "Take a Walk" was featured in a Taco Bell commercial during last year's MTV Video Music Awards, and the success of the song was celebrated with a sequel at last night's VMAs with a trailer for Hello Everywhere, a documentary following Passion Pit and L.A. band Wildcat! Wildcat!
The documentary was directed by Sam Jones, who also directed I Am Trying to Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco. It follows the bands' journeys to SXSW 2013. The film features additional concert footage filmed by bloggers and others, in addition to help from the band Blondfire. "One of the things Taco Bell has tried to do in order to be more relevant with our fans is really nurture their creative spirit," says Chris Brandt, Taco Bell's chief marketing officer.
Hello Everywhere will serve as a launching pad to determine future endeavors for Taco Bell's "Feed the Beat" program.
"We'll measure impressions we pick up and to see that we're heading in the right direction for people to eventually come and buy things from us. Music is a great vehicle for reaching consumers, particularly the millennial consumer, and many bands see the benefit as well. It's a win-win for everyone," said Brandt. Hello Everywhere is currently streaming on Vevo.
Featuring live performances from Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, among others, VMA viewership jumped more than 60 percent from 2012's mediocre outing, averaging 10.1 million viewers in its return to Sunday night.
"It was a wonderfully chaotic mess of unforgettable performances — everything you could hope for as a producer of a live music show," Van Toffler, president of Viacom Media Networks Music & Logo Group, tells The Hollywood Reporter a day after the awards show, later deeming the VMAs "a huge success for us."
Known for its surprises and frenetic energy, the VMAs stayed true to character, with moments such as Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke's risque team-up, Daft Punk's "unexpected" appearance and 'N Sync's historic reunion lighting up social media.

Ever since the Netflix-original series Orange is the New Black premiered on July 11, 2013, the buzz has been increasing about the show's varied portrayals on-screen, ranging from racial and sexual diversity to trans* characters and beyond. One of the biggest issues in relation to the LGBT+ community that the show has brought up is the lack of use of the term "bisexual" -- despite the apparent bisexuality of the central protagonist and other characters as well.
In the first episode, protagonist Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) is shown to have had relationships with both men and women in her life; instead of being called "bisexual," however, she's referred to as an "ex-lesbian." This term is used several more times over the course of the first season; in other instances Piper is referred to as "straight" and "lesbian."
