Tonight Kseniya Ryzhova and Tatyana Firova, two members of Russia's women's 4x400 relay team, defied their nation's ban on "homosexual propaganda" when they kissed on the podium during the presentation ceremony for their gold medals at the World Track & Field Championships in Moscow. Just fantastic! Thank you, ladies, thank you!

MOSCOW -- The Swedish high jumper who painted her fingernails in rainbow colors to support gay rights at the world championships took the field Saturday with bright red nail polish this time.
Emma Green Tregaro had been told by Swedish officials that the rainbow gesture, which brought international attention as a protest against Russia's new law against gay "propaganda," could be a violation of the competition's code of conduct.

Saturday morning wasn't a good one for Lady Gaga. Many prominent websites are declaring her song "Applause" a flop only a couple days after its release. Showbiz411 notes that "Applause" has already fallen to number 7 on iTunes and number 8 on Amazon. Perhaps other artists wouldn't be upset, but Lady Gaga had declared "Applause" as the song of the decade. Radio stations are getting poor feedback for the song as well.
Interscope is taking action by rush-releasing a second single "Swine" on September 1. This isn't good. Releasing two singles more than two months ahead of the "ARTPOP" album release spells disaster. Lady Gaga isn't taking the news too well. She has gone on a Twitter meltdown, even trying to drag Madonna and Perez Hilton down with her.
The worst part about Lady Gaga's flop is that sales and Youtube numbers have been inflated. Mother Monster held a contest that gave incentives to fans who downloaded "Applause" the most and pressed the Refresh button on her YouTube video several thousand times. Several Gaga fans are even turned off. Somebody please save Mother Monster before it gets too late!
“It’s about a boy who goes to a boarding school for wizards.”
”It’s about a high school girl who falls for a vampire.”
”It’s about poor kids forced to kill each other in a game show to entertain the wealthy.”
I’ve just given you one-sentence explanations of the basic plot lines for three of the biggest fantasy film franchises of the last 12 years. Here’s another one: “It’s set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities.” Need more? ”Tris Prior is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.”
From a marketing standpoint, what separates the plot of The Hunger Games from Divergent? I don’t have to use up an entire paragraph explaining The Hunger Games. The same goes for next week’s City of Bones: The Mortal Instruments. I’ll have to use another paragraph to explain that one too. When it comes to marketing new young-adult fantasy literature properties, simplicity is key.

TL;DR: don't be surprised if this shit and Divergent end up flopping.
Still it's an interesting, if somewhat shallow examination on why a lot of YA franchises are stillborn and the poor marketing campaigns of some mid 2000s adaptations tbh.
By now the whole world knows about the current rivarly between Katy Perry and Lady Gaga caused by the coincidental in time release of their new singles "Roar" and "Applause", respectively. This ugly clash wouldn't have happened if 'hackers' wouldn't have leaked both songs just two days apart, Saturday, August 10th for "Roar", and Monday, August 12th for "Applause", making both songs to compete on radio and iTunes release (both out on August 12th) in the US. However, it's true too both songs would have had become major, chart-topping solitary hits if Katy and Gaga's labels, Capitol and Interscope, would have set a far longer release time gap between both singles, but whatever. They wanted confrontation!
Katy's "Roar" got the lead in both radio and iTunes charts since it was the first song to be heard in its entiery by fans. It's true too Katy's new Dr Luke-produced single is more radio-friendly, and 'easier pop' than Lady Gaga's experimental-ish "Applause". Since August 12, Katy's "Roar" has reached and stayed at #1 on the main chart of iTunes USA. "Applause" needed a few hours to crack the Top 10, but when it did, it grabbed the #2 position. Those rankings remained the same until this last Friday, August 16th, when "Applause" dropped to #4. Why?. It's been revealed now, thanks to sources over at Billboard.com, that when the 'first week of confrontation' concludes, Katy's "Roar" will have doubled Lady Gaga's "Applause" in digital sales on iTunes. "Roar" is set to sell 450,000 'copies' while "Applause" will have to do with 200-250k. This is a clear proof the American audience is on the side of Katy's uplifting commercial pop ways.
However, I don't think Gaga should feel all defeated just yet. Although she has the "Applause" music video coming out next Monday on 'Good Morning America', her real and ONLY chance to make true damage to Katy Perry's uber successful "Roar" will be when they both take the stage at the 2013 Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 25th. That 'direct LIVE confrontation' will be decisive....right?. Is opening better than closing?. What do you think?. Their labels are probably in negotations with MTV at the moment trying to settle that. Whatever their slots are, one thing is for sure, both Katy and Gaga are planning to SLAY next Sunday. Mark my words these will be without a doubt THE best performances of "Roar" and "Applause" you will see, at least in the medium-term. They're going BIG for the VMAs. I mean, props, lights, costumes, dancers, camera work, big screens, pyrotechnics and everything else-wise. Whoever delivers the best performance will see; either consolidating herself at the top (Queen Katy), or finally connecting with the general audience thanks to that 'oomph' her live showmanship gives the song and claw her way up to the top (Gaga). Will Katy Perry and Lady Gaga's 2013 VMA performances be decisive for their new singles? Or is it over for Gaga?.
as far as I know it's for MJ's new album, Justin made this remix on the 18th of April 2012
The latest chart honor for Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines", featuring T.I. and Pharrell, finds the song becoming just the 27th No. 1 (of 1,027 total) to spend at least 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. (As previously reported, "Lines" continues to rewrite the record for the biggest all-format weekly radio audience, according to Nielsen BDS, and tops six airplay charts concurrently this week.) Upon "Lines" leading the Hot 100 for a 10th week, let's look at all the songs to reach the major milestone and some of their notable chart traits:

Well. It looks like the latest X Factor USA winner, Tate Stevens, is no longer listed on the Sony Nashville website. He was under the RCA Nashville umbrella. When an artist is deleted from a label website, it usually means they’ve been dropped. Or, “parted ways” with the label, in PR parlance.

50 Cent says he got SCREWED in court recently because the judge was a rap-hating RACIST ... and now he wants the allegedly bias ruling overturned ... this according to court docs.
Earlier this year 50 and company called Sleek Audio were embroiled in a bitter lawsuit. 50 claimed Sleek owed him over $261,000. Sleek said otherwise. The case went to arbitration -- a binding process in which an arbitrator picks the winner.
Bad news for 50, the arbitrator sided with Sleek (the final $$$ judgement was kept under wraps).
But 50 refuses to gently into that good night ... and is taking the battle to federal court -- claiming the arbitration judge discriminated against him because he's black, associates with controversial African-American figures AND because he's a high profile rap artist.
Specifically ... 50 says the bias ran so deep the judge didn't allow him to cross-examine witnesses and refused to look at evidence pertaining to the case. Pretty bold claims.
He wants the award axed ASAP and is asking for a new hearing ... where he says he'll prove the judge was out to get him from the get go.
Sleek fired back too ... claiming 50's allegations of racism are a desperate attempt to avoid the arbitration decision and get it brought before an actual court.
In honor of the music legend's 55th birthday, HuffPost Celebrity asked 55 people on the streets of New York the first word that came to mind when they thought of Madonna. Watch our original video above of the (sometimes) hilarious reactions we received
Some of the words used: FIERCE, iconic, powerful, icon, legend, corset, pop artist, slut, muscles, immortal
A video of Madonna cutting her birthday cake at her private party in France last night also made it to the Internet have a look:
Industry sources now suggest that her new single "Roar" could debut with 525,000 to 550,000 downloads sold by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Aug. 18. Three days ago, the forecast for "Roar" was at 450,000; and six days ago: 400,000.
"Roar" will easily give Perry the biggest sales week of the year for a song, and likely her largest sales week. At the present, her largest week was earned by "Firework," which sold 509,000 downloads in the week after Christmas in 2010.
Meanwhile, the sales projection for fellow diva Lady Gaga's new song "Applause" is static: It should sell around 200,000 to 225,000 downloads. That was the forecast for the song three days ago as well.

“Rizzoli & Isles” star Angie Harmon has a great working dynamic with co-star Sasha Alexander, but she was still surprised when fans of the show pushed for their characters to become more than friends. “It was like, ‘We’re not going to watch your show because you won’t write them making out,’ ” Harmon told More in the magazine’s 15th-anniversary issue. Harmon, now 41, tells More that passing 40 has changed her perspective: It's “not a midlife crisis ... but I see the clock ticking where I didn’t see it before.”
Nowadays, Harmon and Alexander, 40, wink at their lesbian following. “Whether we’re gay or straight, it doesn’t matter,” Harmon said. “We’re all women. We all have the same wonderful situations happen to us, the same horrific situations. We all get our hearts broken.”
Harmon, now 41, dished that passing 40 changed her perspective. She described it as “not a midlife crisis, but a midlife wakeup. I’m halfway done. I still have some good years. But I see the clock ticking where I didn’t see it before,” she said. For Harmon, married to former New York Giants cornerback Jason Sehorn for 12 years, age is a way to appreciate the gifts in her life. “I’ve learned to stop and remind myself to look around and notice who I’m with,” Harmon said. “Then I take that moment to really record what is going on and to make it a great memory — because it is all so fleeting.”

WWDTD?! ‘Game of Thrones’ Star’s Photo Used in Russian Political Message Without Permission
Just because season three is over doesn't mean there isn't drama for "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke. In a shocking plot twist, the stunning English actress has been pulled into Russian politics. And she doesn't even have her dragons to defend her.
Apparently, Vladimir Putin mayoral candidate Yakov Silin plastered Clarke's image across one of his "anti-rape" campaign ads in the industrial city of Yekaterinburg. In the promotion, Clarke, 26, is identified as a local woman named Anya, 24. The shot features the stunning thesp with brown locks rather than the signature white-blond of her "Game of Thrones" character, Daenerys Targaryen.
"Anya"'s campaign message (on behalf of Silin) states, "I suddenly noticed that for the last couple of years I'm not afraid to walk at night in Yekaterinburg. I now have confidence that the city is safe, that no one will attack me or rape me. It's so cool… There are only few people on the streets, the streets have lights, the city is fresh and incredibly beautiful. Especially after it has been raining."
Not surprisingly, the picture of Clarke was used without her knowledge or permission. But it didn't take long for others to notice the smiling "local" was actually a world-famous actress. Bloggers took to Silin's site to blast the campaign for being too "lazy" to find a less recognizable face for the ad. But the powers-that-be aren't admitting Clarke's image was used in error. In fact, they're insisting they knew exactly what they were doing.
"We selected a famous and beautiful actress on purpose, to make it clear that this is a fantasy," one unnamed campaign author stated. "Next time we will be more clear. Sorry." Umm. That sounds like a good idea. The authors had even more to say on the controversy, however. "Our internet post which was a fantasy with a photo of Emilia Clarke, famous for the TV series 'Game of Thrones,' has caused a strange resonance," they insisted. "We assure you Daenerys Targaryen, in this case, is just a beautiful woman. We don't claim to have her support, even though we would not be ashamed to show her Yekaterinburg after the implementation of the 'Capital' program."
A rep for Clarke has not yet returned omg!'s request for a comment, nor have we heard if she's planning to take them up on their offer for a tour of the city, but something tells us she's not booking her ticket any time soon.
Remember that Gothic novel by V.C. Andrews, Flowers in the Attic? It's the tale of four pale yet remarkably beautiful siblings imprisoned in an attic. Oh yes, also the oldest two siblings fall in love and carry out an incestuous affair. Incest has never been so ... uhh, I don't even want to say. We all passed this novel around in high school, enthralled by the horror of it all. It was adapted into a film in 1987 sans the incest theme, which pretty much ruined it. But Hollywood is taking a crack at a new Flowers in the Attic movie to air on Lifetime. Here's what we know about it so far.

McMillian phoned EW this afternoon from Kansas, where he’s visiting relatives and watched the episode last night with his mother. “I had warned my parents that I was going to be leaving the show this season, but I didn’t tell them how. So as she watched the death scene, she kept screaming, ‘I thought it would be in the finale! I thought it would be in the finale!’” he says, laughing. “And then she felt really bad afterwards and kept offering me more glasses of wine with frozen strawberries in them. Her maternal instincts took over and she’s like, ‘Are you okay? Do you need anything? Do you need more wine?’ I’m like, ‘I’m fine. Do you need more wine, mom? Because I think you’re more upset than I am.’”
Everyone’s favorite turncoat, Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian), finally met the sun in Sunday’s episode when ex-wife Sarah (Anna Camp) opened the ceiling at Vamp Camp and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) refused to let Steve flee or feed from Bill (Stephen Moyer). Watch the scene below.
With The Weinstein Company's "The Butler" hitting theaters nationwide this weekend and Millennium Film's "Lovelace" in limited release, we thought it was a good time to look back at some of the genre's messier moments, including two Oliver Stone movies, "Miss Potter," and of course, John Wayne as Genghis Khan in "The Conqueror."

Okay, so Vogule has to be the brain surgeon? He puts her down in the end of this promo! But if that's the case, why did she act so shocked when she was alone and receiving brain parts at her doorstep? I mean, it does seem too obvious if she is the actual killer. What do y'all think?
Mads Mikkelsen, star of NBC’s Hannibal, isn’t known for his comic roles. In his memorable appearances as icy human calculator Le Chiffre in Casino Royale, or resistance fighter Jorgen in Flame & Citron, he’s more likely to provoke fear or admiration than laughter. But in Dr Hannibal Lecter the Danish heart-throb has found a way of letting out his playful side.
