Amanda Bynes suffering from PTSD, getting better

Last week a California judge granted permission, at the request of doctors from the Hillman Psychiatric Center in Ventura County, to extend Amanda Bynes’s psychiatric hold for another 30 days. According to state law, such an order can only be approved if the patient is “gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder” or “is a danger to others, or him or herself.”

But a source very close to the 27-year-old former child star tells us her prognosis is not all doom and gloom.

“Amanda has made significant improvements, she is doing better than she was,” an insider told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. “There are no drug problems involved, it’s all mental. She has deep anger and PTSD, which tripped a psychotic episode… She is very ill, but manageable. Amanda genuinely wants to get better and has wanted to get better for some time.

'Twenties' is Everything We've Been Asking For in a Television Show

Writer/Producer Lena Waithe has been making the rounds in Hollywood with her pilot for Twenties, a show about three black women, in their twenties, who are trying to get their shit together. One of them, like Waithe, is queer. It's her need to tell stories about those of us in the middle, the ones that don't see themselves in the same tired tropes people of color and queers are often relinquished to, that gives this project its fire.

"I wrote it because it was a story I needed to tell. And usually when a writer sits down with that kind of fire in their belly it always strikes a chord with audiences. TWENTIES is the most personal script I’ve ever written and I don’t think it’s a surprise that it’s also gotten me the most attention. People like it when you tell the truth. And this is mine. But I also think it’s universal. Because who can’t relate to being in your twenties and sucking at life? It’s a magical time when you don’t have to have everything figured out. It’s a ten-year window when you’re free to have awkward sex, unhealthy friendships, and a boss you can’t stand."

Nike Pulls Line Inspired by Samoan Tattoos

Nike halted production on a line of sportswear on Wednesday after an outcry that the designs were culturally insensitive. The women's running tights, bodysuit, and sports bra in the Nike Pro Tattoo Tech line were decorated with a pattern based on Samoan tattoos called pe'a, which are traditionally reserved for men.

"To the outside world it's just a design," a commenter, Freddie Ika, wrote on a petition that was launched on August 2 to protest the sale of the items. "But to my Polynesian people, it's sacred." Another comment read, "I am 100% Samoan and I find Nike's blatant disrespect and profit over my culture's way of life shameless and irreverent. The tatau is thousands of years old with a tradition of honor and you have reduced it to $80 Spanx. Remove at once!"

Reigning Wimbledon Champion Marion Bartoli Abruptly Retires from Tennis

title or description

With her body aching after another loss, Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli decided to retire Wednesday night, saying she could no longer deal with the continuous pain on the court. Her tearful announcement at the Western & Southern Open came only two months after she pushed through the pain to win her greatest championship on Wimbledon's chewed-up grass.

"My body was really starting to fall apart and I was able to keep it together, go through the pain -- with a lot of pain -- throughout this Wimbledon and make it happen," the 28-year-old French player said, tears running down her cheeks. "That was probably the last little bit of something that was left inside me.

"I've been playing for a long, long, long time, and it's time for me now. It is."

[Click for Details]
She was seeded 15th when she beat Sabine Lisicki for the title at the All England Club, ending the match with an ace. She climbed into the stands to hug her father, Walter, a doctor who drove her 100 miles or so to tournaments in France when she was in middle school.

After another painful time on court during a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 loss to Simona Halep on Wednesday night, she called her father and came to her decision.

"I have pain everywhere after 45 minutes or an hour of play," she said. "I've been doing this for so long. And yeah, it's just body-wise, I can't do it anymore."

Bartoli has been hampered by an injured left foot, right ankle, right hamstring and an Achilles tendon injury. She said every part of her body hurt while she was on the court Wednesday, and it's been like that for some time.

She reached a career-high ranking of No. 7 at the start of the 2012 season, but a Grand Slam title eluded her. Bartoli finally won at Wimbledon in her 47th Grand Slam tournament, the most by any woman before winning one. After that title, her ranking moved back to No. 7.

Once the joy of that moment left, the pain returned and she found herself considering the end of her career. Her rough night on the court Wednesday convinced her that she had nothing left, with her Achilles, hip, shoulder and back aching.

She decided to retire without fanfare or second-guesses.

"You know, everyone will remember my Wimbledon title," she said. "No one will remember the last match I played here.

"It's been a tough decision to take. I don't take this easily. I mean, I've been a tennis player for a long time and I had a chance to make my biggest dream a reality. I felt I really, really pushed through the ultimate limits to make it happen.

"But now I just can't do it anymore."

WTA Chairman and CEO Stacey Allaster congratulated her on her career.

"She is an inspirational champion and a great ambassador for women's tennis that has dedicated her life to the sport and given so much back to the game," Allaster said. "Fans and everyone at the WTA will surely miss Marion's energy and passion for our sport.

"I am so proud of her for who she is, her values, and for fighting to realize her dream of winning Wimbledon."

Badu’s Voodoo: Erykah Badu & The Effect She Has On Rappers

Erykah, Erykah, Erykah. Man, there’s just something about Erykah Badu.

Don’t know if it’s her energy or her spirit, her mesmerizing eyes or her deep soul, but whatever mysterious qualities Erykah Badu possesses, they’re magical.Over the past year, Kendrick Lamar has expressed his desire to creatively work with the legendary soul singer, and at this year’s BET Awards, he finally got his wish. The unlikely pairing teamed up to perform Kendrick’s GKMC banger “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” and of course, Erykah killed it (in a good way).

Shortly after their performance, rumors began to swirl that the two artists were romantically seeing each other (both denied those allegations), but after hearing Kendrick’s “Control” verse, he must’ve picked up on Miss Badu’s infectious spirit. In an interview about her effect on men, Erykah once replied:

“I learned just as much from them as they learned from me. I’m a cold motherf*cka though. But the people I’m with are cold too, they’re a reflection of that. Become a cold motherf*cka and the motherf*cka will just come like magnets.”

Erykah has also joked that she gifts all the rappers she’s been involved with a pair of crochet pants or an Italian man purse. Didn’t Kendrick say he was ditching the name brands for white t-shirts and Nike Cortez’s?
Hey, it’s not crochet pants and dashikis, but it’s close enough.

In no way are we saying Kendrick Lamar and Erykah had some kind of romantic relationship, but it’s quite possible the two shared some kind of kinetic energy while performing with each other at this year’s BET Awards, because Kendrick’s “Control” verse is beyond cold. We did a little digging on Miss Badu and this is the effect she’s had on previous rappers she’s encountered over the years…

Next Call of Duty will have... Women!

There is no great suffrage movement to credit for finally enabling players of the world's most popular first-person shooter to kill each other as female soldiers. For better or worse, that's not how these things tend to happen in video games. Certainly not this time.

With the announcement of playable female soldiers for November's sure-to-be-a-blockbuster Call of Duty Ghosts, the long-running gender barrier in CoD multiplayer finally shattered today, thanks to....advances in technology.

Adding female soldiers was a matter of adding a new feature to the game, one that the creators say wasn't technically possible before.

Tom Brady leaves practice after apparent knee injury
By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

Breathe, Boston. Breathe. But you need to know that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady left practice on Wednesday afternoon after taking a hit to his left knee -- the same, gulp, one he injured in 2008 when he missed the entire season -- and limping gingerly off the field.

It's unclear how Brady actually ended up on the ground -- though Shalise Young of the Boston Globe reports Brady "did not take a hit" -- but according to multiple reports from folks at the scene, Brady took a while to stand up and then moved gingerly off the field.

It appears however, from a fan video taken by Patriots fan @ChadKopcak that Brady went down after Patriots tackle Nate Solder fell into him after being pushed backwards. Not pretty:

Brady then met with Bill Belichick, Josh McDaniels and Jim Whalen and left the field to head into the practice bubble (presumably never, at least for today, to return.)

If you really want to crank up the old panic meter, feel free to read deeply into Robert Kraft leaving the field as well:

It's more than likely that Kraft, understandably, left the field to check with everyone on how his star quarterback was doing.

Inconceivably, it happens to be Tim Tebow's birthday today.

hey girl

Good news ONTD. A new extension for Google Chrome can magically transform your webpage into a bunch of photos of Ryan Gosling.

A new Google Chrome extension called— “Hey Girl” aims to make your browsing experience a little easier on the eyes.

Here’s how it works: drag the button on into your bookmarks bar, navigate to a page, click it, and, voila: every picture is swapped out with one of the Gos looking handsome, studly, pensive, impassioned, and just plain sexy.

The extension was built when New York–based web developer Katherine Champagne was jokingly changing a friend’s profile information to Channing Tatum at Dev Bootcamp Chicago. On a challenge from her teacher, she turned the idea into a Gosling-themed bookmarklet.

“I hope that inspires more women to get into web development—there needs to be more of us, ladies!” she told Mashable on Tuesday. “It’s not all math, it’s not boring—as I hope evidences, I’ve found programming to be an incredible creative outlet.”

With his myriad dedicated Tumblrs and fan-girl paraphernalia, this is just another friendly reminder: It’s Ryan Gosling’s Internet, we’re just happily living in it.

Gina Carano On the Importance of Wonder Woman

Gina Carano has often been a popular choice by fans for the role of Wonder Woman in a feature film, even though WB has been silent about the character making her big screen debut. recently spoke with Carano about the role and her being a common choice, which she called an "incredible compliment."

"That's the ultimate superhero for a woman. No matter what, no matter who ends up being Wonder Woman someday, I just hope it's something that is done correctly. I know it's there and that it could definitely be done correctly. It's just a matter of getting the right people and having the right vision come together. A director and producer and writer have to see the beauty in it and make it real."

Carano mentioned that she's "starting to get into the comic book space a little," hinting at "good prospects" in the future for her. Though she's no doubt referring to the adaptation of Rob Liefeld's Avengelyne, which is still in development, we can still hope she will bring the Amazon warrior to life.

Warner Bros. has made no mention of Wonder Woman transitioning to the big screen in some time. A script was comissioned from Green Lantern scribe Michael Goldenberg last year, but after the success of Man of Steel we don't expect that to come to fruition.

Darren Young, WWE Star, Comes Out as Gay: I'm "Very Happy"

Darren Young just made WWE history. The professional wrestler, 33, revealed in an off-the-cuff interview that he's gay -- making the New Jersey native the first WWE star to come out of the closet. Speaking recently with a TMZ videographer at LAX, the performer (real name: Fredrick Douglas Rosser) was asked whether a gay wrestler could comfortably work in the WWE.

"Absolutely. Look at me," he said. "I'm a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now, I'm gay. And I'm happy. I'm very happy."

Although other WWE wrestlers have been the subject of gay rumors, Young (following in the footsteps of NBA player Jason Collins, who came out earlier this year) quipped of his own announcement: "I don't think it matters. Does it matter? Does it change what you think about me?"

He assured his interviewer that all is well. "I'm happy with who I am. I'm comfortable with myself. I'm happy to be living the dream. I'm happy with myself. It's very important to me that people see that someone's sexual preference shouldn't really matter."

As for working and performing in the WWE -- a very physical contact sport involving half-naked men -- he explained: "We're all adults. All sports are physical. When I come to work, I come to work. This is a business. I'm a WWE superstar. I'm there to entertain. That's what my job is and I do it well."

A Delusional Has-Been Bitch Says She Could Have Done Better Than Charlize Theron in "Prometheus"

Sean Young hasn't had the easiest career in the world. One great role—as Rachel in Ridley Scott's “Blade Runner”—will stay with us forever, but her wider career never really took off the way you might have expected it to after starring in such a legendary film. Young's part in “Wall Street” was cut from substantial to pretty minor, and a horse-riding injury got her fired from Tim Burton's “Batman” and replaced with Kim Basinger; she was then cast in Warren Beatty's “Dick Tracy” before being fired from that too. The year after that—we're in 1991 now, almost ten years after “Blade Runner,” without having had another major role—she won two acting Razzies for the same movie, playing twins in “A Kiss Before Dying.” Since then, she hasn't had a lot of high profile work.

Lifetime has found the young lead for their upcoming adaptation of V.C. Andrews' controversial novel "Flowers in the Attic." "Mad Men" star Kiernan Shipka will trade in her miserable Sally Draper existence for one even more screwed up as the lead in the film, Deadline reports.

The made-for-TV movie will tell the story of Corrine (to be played by Heather Graham), a recent widow who takes her four children to her parents' mansion after their father's death and puts them in one heck of a terrible situation. Gaga wins day in court over assistant suing for unpaid overtime

Jennifer O'Neill, the woman suing Gaga for more than 7,000 alleged hours of unpaid overtime, wanted more email evidence turned over by Gaga, but judge sided with the singer over Google auto-purge.

When she emails, Gaga goes Google.

The judge in the court fight between Lady Gaga and her former personal assistant turned a deaf ear Wednesday to a complaint by the ex-pal over email evidence.

Jennifer O’Neill, the woman suing Gaga for more than 7,000 alleged hours of unpaid overtime, argued the “Poker Face” singer has failed to cough up certain emails sent when they worked together, from 2009 to 2011.

Gaga has turned over some messages, but O’Neill said a forensic analysis of her laptop computer indicated additional emails sent to the crooner.

The eccentric pop star countered she no longer has the emails because her “Google Web-based account” purged the messages 30 days after she first deleted them. That apparently made sense to Manhattan Federal Court Judge Paul Gardephe, who sided Wednesday with Gaga, aka Stefani Germanotta, 27. He denied a motion by O’Neill’s lawyers to sanction the singer.

“Plaintiff has not offered any evidence that defendants have withheld responsive emails, or that they destroyed emails” after being ordered to keep them, he said. To deal with another legal scuffle Wednesday, the judge stepped between O’Neill and celebrity photographer Terry Richardson, who recently lost a bid to keep his snapshots of Gaga out of the case.
O’Neill requested the photos hoping they would demonstrate how she hard she worked while employed by Gaga. But Richardson — worried about his valuable pics being reproduced — blanketed the shots with huge watermarks, frustrating the plaintiff.

Gardephe wrote Wednesday that the watermarked photos will suffice for now, but he said Richardson will need to submit mark-free versions if the pics become exhibits at trial. The plaintiff is also concerned that Richardson submitted mostly photos of Gaga and O'Neill at public appearances and too few that show O’Neill working long hours with Gaga behind the scenes.

O’Neill’s lawyer, Virginia Kristina Trunkes, declined to comment. Gaga’s lawyers did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday night.

The couple, who married in October 1998, are already parents to daughters Jagger Joseph Blue, 5, and Poet Sienna Rose, 8 this month.

Another child has been on Goldberg, a film and television producer, and Frye’s mind since last fall.

“I want a third! I just feel like if I have a third it will be another girl and I would be so into it,” she told The Bump in October. “And then maybe the fourth would be a boy. Fingers crossed within the next year!”

Frye, 37, who made a name for herself on the ’80s sitcom Punky Brewster, went on to costar on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. This Is A Late Night Music Discussion Post, ONTD! Moby Says Pop Music Is A Dying Industry

While the rise of Napster in 1999 administered a fatal injection into the arm of the music industry, that same year also delivered one of the most important releases of the last fifty yearsMobys Play, a 63-minute electronic music odyssey that would sell over twelve million copies, generate nine singles and that would ultimately see all eighteen of its tracks licensed for use in commercials, movies and television.

It’s hard to believe that in the weeks leading up to its release, the artist himself, then 33 years old, viewed the album as an inauspicious clutch of experimental jams that were destined to reach little more than a modest group of electronic music buffs.

Boy, was he ever wrong.

Play emerged as a proverbial game-changer; a smooth, melodic handshake between millennia, draping the gravitas of soul music with the shimmering possibilities of electronica. The line between styles began to blur, and as artists from all genres rushed to stake a claim in this bracing new territory, Moby transcended the fringes of electronica and claimed a seat at the head of pop music’s most exclusive table.

It boggles the mind to consider that 14 years later, Moby sees himself as an artist with essentially nothing to lose. The digital revolution has eviscerated more than just the profit margins of major record labels; it has leveled the playing field for both musicians and fans. Vital new music can now be created, distributed and consumed with the click of a mouse, reducing the long-standing, album-oriented industry model to a fine dust. It’s all about downloads, streaming radio and YouTube hits now.

Standing on the scorched earth that was once a lush and verdant music industry, for the first time in over a decade, Moby has found the freedom to sidestep the commercial expectations that have dogged him since Play; a realization that has inspired him to write Innocentshis most ambitious album yet.

Released this October, Innocents sees Moby turning his entire creative process on its head; for the first time he has brought in an outsider—Mark “Spike” Stent—to assist with the album’s production. He also recorded the album in a new city—Los Angeles—and he has collected easily his most eclectic group of collaborators to date, from velvety-voiced crooners such as Cold Specks and Skylar Grey to more eclectic performers like Wayne Coyne, Mark Lanegan and folk singer Damian Jurado.

I sat down with Moby to talk about his new album and the future of music, and to find out why Innocents is the album he has waited his whole life to write.

Selena Gomez denies feud with Taylor Swift

During an appearance on The Talk, aired on Wednesday, Selena Gomez dismissed reports that she was "fueding" with Taylor Swift.

She referred to Swift as her "best friend" and "one of the most incredible, sweet people ever", and spoke of her recent getaway to Swift's Rhode Island beach home. "She picked me up from the airport. And then my song came on and we freaked out and then her song came on and we freaked out. We were just, like, dancing in the car."

A source recently told Us Weekly: "Taylor hates Justin. She thinks Selena makes a mistake every time she reconciles with him. Beiber has really come between the girls. He complains Taylor's always telling Selena she can do better."

Us Weekly pointed to Swift's non-attendence at Gomez's 21st birthday party on July 27 as evidence of a rift. However, Swift was performing at Gillette Stadium, Massachusetts on the night in question and sent Gomez a birthday message via twitter, describing her as the "closest thing I've ever had to a sister."

A Swift rep told the tabloid that the pair are "great friends who talk almost daily."

Selena Gomez: Taylor advised me not to put Bieber voicemail on album

Selena Gomez asked Taylor Swift for music advice before the release of her Stars Dance album.

"Taylor was the first person I played my stuff for. She listened to a couple of the songs and she gave me really good advice and opinions. She liked most of them. She is that kind of the friend that knows and has the ear and understands it. She was the one I went to for the advice part of it all. The rest was just friends back at home."

Swift offered commentary on the content of 'Love Will Remember,' the original version of which included a Justin Bieber voicemail recording and which Swift heard.

Gomez admitted that Swift told her, "'Don't make it too personal.' And I kind of took her advice on that."

Police seek alleged "Dutch Treat" stalker in connection with apartment break-in

Sources say Carlos Echeverria was accused of showing up at the actress’ building and approaching her on the street, and of sending her too many letters and photos.

Police in New York are looking to talk to a Bronx man who gave sexy “X-Men” star Famke Janssen a fright a few years back over a recent creepy incident in which a child’s book was left in her home, sources said Wednesday.

A source said the 47-year-old actress accused Carlos Echeverria, 50, of showing up at her building in SoHo and approaching her on the street, police sources said.

Her aggravated harassment report also said he sent her too many letters, cards and photos between Feb. 1, 2004, and April 25, 2005, the sources said.

Echeverria was never arrested, but sources say cops now want to speak to him about Janssen’s allegations that somebody broke into her apartment Saturday and left “The Lonely Doll” on a shelf beside her bed.

Attempts to reach him at home were not successful.

The film was very violent. The dialogue was witty; and relatable for even someone in their thirties (like me). Each scene was written to carry the action packed film along in the most dramatic way. Even the quiet moments were action packed.  I literally desired to get in the film and kick ass!

In KICK-ASS 2, actor Morris Chestnut plays Detective Marcus Williams. The role is the peaceful caregiver to lead actress Chloe Grace Moretz. In the original film, her father dies. Morris’ on screen peacefulness, yet steadiness, does the role good.

The role was not complex; but if he had put a little too much bravado into the role, he would have not been believable. It felt odd initially watching him as the black guardian of this young white girl, however, as I continued to watch the film, it all made sense.

Actor Donald Faison takes on the energetic role of Doctor Gravity.  This is major, since he is officially a member of the Kick-Ass crew.  It was very entertaining to watch Donald in his action scenes. He gives the energy of a hundred teens in his role.

Last Wednesday, I was able to catch up with both actors in Beverly Hills to briefly discuss the film, and their careers.

Shadow and Act: Jim Carey has gone on record to say that he would not promote this film due to its violence. What are your thoughts on this matter?

Robert Pattinson's new bestie, Mischa Barton

Now that he and Kristen Stewart are no longer together, Robert Pattinson's living on his own, in a Beverly Hills mansion, and enjoying a single summer. With Carey Mulligan? Or Zoe Saldana? Or Keira Knightley? Or Emily Blunt and John Krasinski? The A List?

Not exactly.

According to E! News, Pattinson's regular party guests have included Michelle Rodriguez and, um, a single Mischa Barton.

Mischa Barton?

Slow clap, Robert Pattinson. Let's give him a slowwwww clap.

Put it this way:

Kristen Stewart cheating on you >>>>> Hanging out with Mischa Barton

This is an indisputable Hollywood Truth.

According to E!, Barton and Pattinson are just friends. Barton apparently broke up with her boyfriend recently because she's focusing on her career. So now you know how the story got out. And now you know what Pattinson is doing in LA instead of living in London. This guy needs a Friend Coach. Because either he has really bad judgment or… he actually likes Mischa Barton. Classic Sh-t vs Diarrhoea.

'Desperate Housewives' Reunion For Eva Longoria And Ricardo Chavira On NBC's 'Welcome To The Family'

'Desperate Housewives' Reunion For Eva Longoria And Ricardo Chavira On NBC's 'Welcome To The Family'

NBC is hosting a "Desperate Housewives" reunion on its new fall comedy "Welcome to the Family," according to Deadline.

The show will reunite former on-screen spouses Eva Longoria and Ricardo Chavira when Longoria appears in a guest role as Ms. Nunez, the English teacher of Chavira's character's son. Ms. Nunez and Miguel (Chavira) will reportedly share a romantic history from before Miguel was married to Lisette (Justina Machado).

Per Deadline, Chavira called and asked Longoria to guest star on the show and "she is very excited to be working with him again."

Read the description for "Welcome to the Family" below:

Dan Yoder (Mike O'Malley) and wife, Caroline (Mary McCormack), think they finally have it made. Their daughter, Molly (Ella Rae Peck) -- not the most diligent of students -- has managed to graduate from high school and has been accepted to college. Her proud parents are looking forward to an empty nest and are breathing a heavy sigh of relief.
Across town, Molly's secret boyfriend, Junior Hernandez (Joey Haro), is graduating from his high school with top honors and has plans to go to Stanford. Parents Miguel and Lisette are bursting with pride. Everything seems like it is falling into place for them, but unbeknownst to both families, Molly and Junior are about to become parents themselves.

Once the teens break the big news, these two very different families are thrown together, which goes anything but smoothly... and the news that Molly and Junior are engaged to be married doesn't exactly make things better.

Interesting that he invites her to guest star on this show considering a few weeks ago, he was trying his best not to make negative comments about Devious Maids (which she produces). see here for more.

Week Ending Aug. 11, 2013. Songs: Thicke Braces For Battle

“Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. + Pharrell logs its 10th week at #1 on the Hot 100. This ties “We Found Love” by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris for the longest run at #1 in this young decade. The last single to spend more weeks on top was the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling,” which held tight for 14 weeks in 2009. But Thicke will face much stiffer competition for #1 next week: Katy Perry’s “Roar,” which enters the Hot 100 at #85 this week based on almost four days of airplay (but no sales or streaming) and Lady Gaga’s “Applause,” which will debut next week.

If “Roar” soars from #85 to #1 next week, it will be the biggest positional leap to #1 since Kelly Clarkson’s “My World Would Suck Without You” vaulted from #97 to #1 in January 2009. If “Applause” debuts at #1, it will be the first single to do so since Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” in March. (It would be Gaga’s second single to debut in the top spot, following “Born This Way.”)

“Roar” (which in almost four days racked up 40 million impressions from 258 stations) is the first single from Perry’s third studio album, Prism, which is due Oct. 22. “Applause” (which in two days had 16 million impressions via 210 stations) is the first single from Gaga’s third full-length studio album, ARTPOP, which is due Nov. 11.

Of course, the arrival of two “event singles” almost simultaneously may keep either from doing as well as it might have it had had the field to itself. This could help Thicke hold on for an 11th week on top. To be sure, “Blurred Lines” is still going strong, as these facts attest.

“Blurred Lines” broke its own record, set just last week, for the most all-format “audience impressions” in Nielsen BDS history (which dates to 1990). The song had 227.5 million impressions, up from 219.8 million last week. (Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” had previously held the record, with 212.2 million impressions on the chart dated July 9, 2005.)

“Blurred Lines” also becomes the first song in digital history to top 300K in weekly sales 10 times. It sold 346K digital copies this week. “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Wanz topped 300K nine times.

Will Arnett Downgrades

Will Arnett has a new gal -- and the two have already been spotted out and about together! Multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly that Arnett and celebrity chef Katie Lee are dating, and now the two have already gone public with their new relationship.

The new couple -- who started dating very recently -- enjoyed a meal at The Crow's Nest restaurant in Montauk, NY on Thursday, Aug. 8. "They came in around 8 and his arm was around her waist," a source tells Us.

Adding, "They kissed each other a lot throughout the night. They held hands too and were really into each other, like the way you are with someone you just started seeing."

Arnett, 43, separated from Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler in September 2012 after nine years of marriage, Us exclusively reported at the time. The exes have two children together, Archie, 4, and Abel, 2. Poehler, 41, began dating comedian Nick Kroll in May. Lee, 31, divorced from Billy Joel in 2010 after six years of marriage.

How Lady Gaga Lost Her Chart Battle With Katy Perry

The triumph of “Roar” over “Applause” reveals a philosophical rift between the two pop stars. As it turns out, people are more excited to hear themselves in a song than revel in someone else’s fame.

Katy Perry and Lady Gaga’s comeback singles weren’t meant to come out the same week. Perry’s “Roar” leaked two days ahead of schedule, and Gaga’s “Applause,” originally slated for August 18th, was rushed out after a low-quality mp3 of the song leaked. Or so they say – it’s not hard to imagine that Gaga intentionally jumped the gun to force a competition with her main rival on the pop charts. But regardless of how this came to be, this clash of pop divas has a clear and decisive winner: Katy Perry, whose single has far better buzz and has a firm lock on the top of the iTunes singles chart, while Gaga lags behind in second place. We won’t have a clear idea of how much more Perry has sold compared to Gaga until next week, but the difference in views between the official lyrics videos for their songs is rather extreme. Perry’s emoji-filled video for “Roar” was released two days ahead of the clip for “Applause,” but nevertheless has 7.3 million views while Gaga is hovering just above 500K. (However, the “official audio” clip on Gaga’s YouTube channel is over 9 million.)

The most frustrating thing about “Applause” is that it sounds so much like Lady Gaga dialing down her excesses, hedging her bets, and aiming for an easy hit because, frankly, she needs one after a year away from the charts. Though the lyrics lay out a vague manifesto for her ARTPOP album and name check Jeff Koons, the song lacks the musical boldness of her previous record Born This Way, and comes off like a retread of her catchy but less sophisticated material from her debut, The Fame. In the hierarchy of Gaga singles it is strictly c-list, but it’s still pretty good. But a song about how you are a pop visionary needs to be more than just pretty good to prove its point, you know?

“Roar” isn’t a better song than “Applause,” but it is far easier to like. Perry’s single bears a striking resemblance to Sara Bareilles’ song “Brave,” but in fairness, it sounds a little bit like dozens of songs. Hearing it for the first time feels like déjà vu. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing – a lot of great pop songs have that effect – but it’s hard to shake off the sense that this is a very cynical piece of music. Whereas Gaga is going out on a limb with an elaborate art project that she must know will alienate millions of people, Perry is embracing a safe sound and a safe message. Is that a better business plan? Oh, hell yes. Most definitely. But it’s much less interesting.

Daft Punk & Milla Jovovich Get Very Comfortable

Actress Milla Jovovich got quite close to Daft Punk in a new photo spread for CR Fashion Book.

In the spread, Jovovich wears the same Saint Laurent get-up that Lady Gaga donned for a Chateau Marmont date with her boyfriend. (True fashion fans will also recognize it from the CR Fashion Book party during Paris Fashion Week, when Kate Moss wore it.) Of course, Daft Punk is wearing their signature Saint Laurent suits.

The idea behind the shoot is a digital love story, and a celebration of the massive success of "Random Access Memories," Daft Punk's comeback album. We're told the shoot is "inspired not by 'memories' but by impressions of the future, symbolic of Daft Punk’s new approach to music in the digital age."

“This album is about technology going toward humanity, in a world where humanity is going towards technology," the robots said. "We tried to capture robotic emotions with music, replacing this time our electronic machines by real human beings. After having made three albums, we were looking for a fourth album we had not yet done. We’ve been making music as Daft Punk for 20 years, and we are always trying to feel like beginners. Going in a studio for the first time felt exciting because it was something new. With 'Random Access Memories,' we ultimately decided we wanted to do a record we could not have done at home.”

Because we haven't had an Animal Crossing post in awhile

'Animal Crossing Plaza' launches on Wii U

The Animal Crossing Plaza, an online area in which Animal Crossing fans can interact with each other, is now available on Wii U.

The plaza resembles the Wii U's Wara Wara Plaza, and is open to Animal Crossing players around the globe. It's tied into the new Animal Crossing Miiverse community on Wii U, with users being able to import images from Animal Crossing: New Leaf on Nintendo 3DS and post them on Miiverse. Players can organize the images into albums and design custom QR codes for them, which can then be used to get the screenshots into New Leaf.

The Animal Crossing Plaza app is now available as a free download on Wii U, and the service will run from now through the end of 2014.

In addition, European New Leaf players will be able to gift a copy of the game to friends who buy a 3DS XL under the "Welcome a Friend" promotion. Users who register the game with Club Nintendo by Sept. 7 will receive a Recommendation Code. They can then give that code to a friend who buys and registers a 3DS XL between today and Sept. 7, and that friend can redeem the code for a free copy of New Leaf.

Ed Westwick in Negotiations to Star in Sony's 'Kitchen Sink'

In his first major move since "Gossip Girl" ended, Ed Westwick has entered negotiations to star in Sony's genre movie "The Kitchen Sink," two individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.

Robbie Pickering ("Natural Selection") is directing from a Black List-approved script by Oren Uziel. Matt Tolmach ("The Amazing Spider-Man") is producing via his eponymous banner.

A unique monster mash-up movie, "Kitchen Sink" follows a group of teens who form an unlikely alliance with vampires and zombies in order to take on an alien army.

Nicholas Braun, Mackenzie Davis and Josh Fadem star alongside Chris Zylka and Denis Leary, while Vanessa Hudgens is nearing a deal for a key role.

Should negotiations work out, Westwick would play a smooth-talking vampire who wants to make Davis (AMC's "Halt & Catch Fire") his latest bloody conquest.

Kate Checchi will oversee "Kitchen Sink" on behalf of Matt Tolmach Productions, while Sony exec Lauren Abrahams will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.

Westwick, who was last seen on the big screen as an FBI agent in Clint Eastwood's "J. Edgar," next stars as Tybalt in "Romeo and Juliet," which stars Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth as the star-crossed lovers. His previous feature credits include "Children of Men," "Son of Rambow" and Anthony Minghella's "Breaking and Entering."

He's repped by WME, Affirmative Entertainment, Emptage Hallett and attorney George Davis.

Hootie gets a blvd named after him!

Want to take a stroll down Darius Rucker Boulevard? Charleston, what an honor. Thank you.

source his FB

Darius Rucker has hit the top of the charts both as frontman for Hootie and the Blowfish and as a country artist. And now, he has a street named after him. The street leading to the North Charleston Coliseum in South Carolina where Hootie and the Blowfish played in the 1990s shortly after it opened was renamed Darius Rucker Boulevard.

Rucker grew up in the Charleston area and was on hand for the ceremony along with North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey. Rucker says he may return to the coliseum this fall to play a country set. He just released a new country album, called "True Believers," in May.

But first he plays with Hootie and the Blowfish next week at the Family Circle Stadium on Daniel Island. Rucker has been able to thrive both as both a member of Hootie and as a solo artist. When asked about the future of Hootie & the Blowfish, Rucker told, "We'll always be together. I don't think we'll ever break up totally."

Ignore the order the films were released in. This is the order you should watch them - 4, 5, and 6 were prequels (back story) leading into Tokyo Drift. This is why you see the deadly crash again at the end of Furious 6.

Chris Brown: Prosecutors IGNORE Hit-and-Run Victim's Wish TO Drop Case

Chris Brown is in a weird legal predicament in his hit-and-run case this morning -- the victim doesn't want him prosecuted, but we've learned the L.A. City Attorney is going full throttle to nail the singer.

As TMZ reported ... Chris was in a very minor fender bender and left the scene without providing the victim with a California license and other documentation. The City Attorney filed hit-and-run charges, but the victim then told us she DIDN'T want any money because the damage was so minor and DIDN'T want Brown prosecuted.

The City Attorney still pressed on because the victim hadn't told prosecutors what she told TMZ. But we've learned on Wednesday prosecutors met with her lawyer, who told them his client wanted the case dropped and didn't want any money.

The case is in court at 10 AM PT and we've learned the City Attorney will still object to a dismissal -- in other words, they want to prosecute Brown for hit-and-run.

The judge could ignore the City Attorney and dismiss the case.

One final, weird thing. During the last hearing in the case, we've learned a honcho from the L.A. County D.A.'s Office sat in the peanut gallery. We're told the D.A. is interested in the case because if Chris is prosecuted it could trigger a probation violation in the Rihanna case.

Chris Brown's hit-and-run case was just dismissed, even though prosecutors argued Chris deserved to be punished and punished severely for his alleged vehicular misdeed.

Chris and the victim struck a civil compromise -- she didn't want any money because the damage was so minor and she wanted the case dismissed. But the L.A. City Attorney objected, arguing to the judge this morning that Brown was very aggressive toward the victim after the accident -- calling her a "bitch."

The City Attorney also argued that Brown was on felony probation and therefore his alleged misconduct of leaving the scene without anteing up a California driver's license was all the more serious.

The judge, however, didn't buy the City Attorney's argument and dismissed the case.

Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos tells TMZ, "The case never should have been filed in the first place. It's unfortunate he was being prosecuted for who he is rather than what he's done."

Kim Kardashian Won't Let Smokers Near Her Baby

Kim Kardashian has banned mom Kris Jenner and her baby daddy beau Kanye West from smoking near her daughter North West.

Non-smoker Kim doesn’t want Kim or Kris coming near her baby when they smell of smoke.

“Kim’s a complete nonsmoker and she’s forbidden Kanye – who puffs cigars – and her mother, who’s a closet cigarette smoker, from coming anywhere near her precious baby, North, unless they literally scrub themselves down first,” a source said.

“Kim HATES the smell of smoke – and even though neither Kanye nor Kris actually smoke in front of the baby, she doesn’t want North contaminated with smoky odor.

“So she’s laid down the law that they can’t touch, hold or even come near the baby until they’ve showered and brushed their teeth.”

nothing wrong with that imo

While the summer movie season has mostly left us disappointed at the multiplex, with studios serving movies with lots of flash and little else, there has been a silver lining for those avoiding the sequels, superhero movies and CGI tentpoles. There's been a healthy amount of smarter fare for discerning moviegoers, and coming at the end of the month is another picture with the potential to shake the blockbuster blues. It's "Closed Circuit," the latest from "Boy A" director John Crowley, boasting a script from "Eastern Promises" scribe Steven Knight and two compelling leads in Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall. Woman sexually harassed by members of Alicia Keys band at festival

"We need to talk about the awful sexism in the music industry"

After Way out West last Saturday, I got a ride by members of Alicia Keys band. When I did not want to go to their hotel they told me that they could do what they wanted with me and my genitals - a pussy which smelled, according to them. The men made no physical advances. But sexual harassment was scary. The organizers must be more demanding of the performers, writes Jonna Sima.

Justin Guarini Discusses Post-’Idol’ Struggles in Shocking Open Letter

"There was a time when I would have had a car service drive me from my home to work. Now I drive myself to the station and take the train. There was a time when I wouldn't have been concerned about the amazing expense of eating at place like Green Symphony. Now, I budget," Justin writes. "I have spent days skipping meals in order to make sure I have enough. To make sure my children, and my wife have enough. There was a time when I couldn't walk the street w/o being stopped a hundred times for a photo or a press of flesh. Now one in a thousand might stop me, or notice. For the rest I might (might) trigger some dim memory, stuffed at the back of long unfired synaptic pathways overgrown with the clutter of social media.

"There was a time when I put on a brave face, smiled, and laughed to show that I was impervious and unafraid. Now, I'm unafraid to say that I am terrified. I am struggling to make each day meet the next without breaking down and curling up. Sometimes I envy people who sit at a desk all day (at least you know where your next meal is coming from). I'll smile, and laugh, and joke, and entertain…because sometimes it's the only way to keep the ghosts of regret and loss at bay. I am unafraid to be afraid, and in that fear I gather strength."

I get out first movie review of City of Bones, check it out!

The Good: Concept, Special effects, Acting
The Bad: Moments of character
The Basics: The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones lives up to those hoping for a strong and compelling fantasy film, though those looking for something truly dark and adult will find it a little lacking.

Every year for the last several, Summer Blockbuster Season has been characterized by several predictable and consistent trends. The major studios release the big special effect-driven movies fast and at calculated intervals to dominate the box office for one or two weeks before the next predicted (and usually) sure thing knocks it off its pedestal. It is not a time of year known for high concept films and by August, the big studios have gotten their year’s worth of ticket sales out of the consumers before hitting the September Slump and then (increasingly earlier each year) Oscar Pandering Season. The August pre-slump is usually the time of year that the studios dump out the comedies and one or two movies that they did not quite believe in enough to release early in Summer Blockbuster Season to even attempt to compete against the big studio releases.

It is there, in the time frame usually reserved for raucous comedies and romantic comedies that make for obvious date fare for the crowds of college-going students returning to campus, that Sony and Screen Gems will release The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones. The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones is based upon a young adult fantasy book (which became a series) and in the interest of full disclosure, I have not read the book series, so this is a review solely of the movie with no basis for comparison. There seems to be a serious bias (in the media) against the young adult fantasy genre and earlier this year the genre took a hit when Beautiful Creatures (reviewed here!) and The Host (reviewed here!) both underperformed. Fortunately for the fans of great cinema, The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones - despite pulling some punches, especially on the gore front – is a more engaging and mature outing than this year’s early genre flops. In fact, despite the love triangle element that might inspire some comparison to The Twilight Saga (reviewed here!), The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones is more like Constantine (reviewed here!) meets Underworld(reviewed here!) than a sappy romance. In fact, to its credit, The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones carefully promises not to pursue the same mundane formula in the sequels by the resolution to this film, which is nice.

Miguel Arrested For DUI

Miguel -- the guy behind the smash hit "Adorn" and "#Beautiful" with Mariah Carey -- was arrested for driving drunk in L.A. early this morning ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... California Highway Patrol officers initially flagged the 27-year-old singer's 2013 BMW X6 for speeding and tinted windows on an L.A. freeway around 2:15 AM.

During the stop, officers noticed the singer reeked of booze ... and performed various field sobriety tests, which he bombed.

Miguel -- full name  Miguel Jontel Pimentel -- also took a breathalyzer and blew a .10 and .11 ... which is over the .08 legal limit in CA.

Miguel was then arrested for DUI and hauled to a nearby station where he was booked ... and released a few hours later on $5,000 bail.

According to his booking sheet, Miguel is 5'7" and 140 pounds.

He's scheduled to appear in court in September.

So far, no word from Miguel's camp.

OItNB creator Jenji Kohan: 'Piper Was My Trojan Horse'

"In a lot of ways Piper was my Trojan Horse. You're not going to go into a network and sell a show on really fascinating tales of black women, and Latina women, and old women and criminals. But if you take this white girl, this sort of fish out of water, and you follow her in, you can then expand your world and tell all of those other stories.

But it's a hard sell to just go in and try to sell those stories initially. The girl next door, the cool blonde, is a very easy access point, and it's relatable for a lot of audiences and a lot of networks looking for a certain demographic. It's useful."

John Krasinski may be in Jurassic Park 4 + more news!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

In June, plot details surfaced from Jurassic Park IV that indicate the actual theme park is up and running. Now we're hearing that The Office star John Krasinski is up for a role as one of the theme park workers in charge of 'taming' some of the dinosaurs. The role is being compared to that of Dennis Quaid's Mike Brody in Jaws 3D. At first it might sound horrible to compare Jurassic Park IV to Jaws 3D, until you realize that sequel had a pretty cool, smart concept. One that could make a pretty awesome movie if done right.

Man tries to access Michelle Obama’s bank account, claims she adopted him

A Texas man has been arrested after claiming to be the newly adopted son of first lady Michelle Obama and asking a bank teller to give him access to her account.

Police were called to Chase Bank in Bryan, Texas, to reports of a suspicious customer, who was “attempting to access and account under Michelle Obama.”

The bank teller quickly determined Johnnie Fletcher Gooden Jr. was not who he said he was and asked him to leave.
He refused despite being told that Mrs. Obama doesn't have an account there.

When the police arrived to question the man, the Houston Chronicle reported he had told them that “Mrs. Obama contacted him through Facebook and adopted him and he was now trying to get money out of her bank account.”
But the 29-year-old suspect stopped talking when he was challenged by officers.

He was arrested and is now in the Brazos County Jail.
Bryan Police Department spokeswoman Kelley McKethan said that a criminal background check revealed that Gooden had outstanding warrants for resisting arrest and assault on a public servant.
He also ended up with a new pot possession charge after police found a bag of marijuana in the pocket of his shorts.

idk why they wouldn't believe him...

Stephen Colbert Explains Daft Punk Fiasco On 'The Paul Mecurio Show'

In a rare candid interview on "The Paul Mecurio Show," Stephen Colbert had an extensive discussion about his career and philosophies on comedy. The most notable part about the interview, however, was an lengthy, behind-the-scenes explanation of what happened with the now-infamous Daft Punk cancellation fiasco last week.

Colbert has been acquainted with the podcast's host, comedian Paul Mecurio, for years -- the two were on the writing staff of "The Daily Show" together in the dawn of the Jon Stewart era. Currently, Mecurio is the warm-up comedian for the "Colbert Report" studio audience. Fittingly, Mecurio conducted a comfortable interview with the late night host, in which Colbert spent about 20 minutes discussing exactly what happened with Daft Punk. If what Colbert says is true, then all doubts put forth by Pitchfork and others questioning whether the whole thing was a publicity stunt should be put to rest.

Robin Thicke Sues to Protect 'Blurred Lines' from Marvin Gaye's Family

Thicke, Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris, Jr. claim they were threatened by both Gaye's family and Funkadelic, each asserting that the summer hit wasn't original.

Russell Simmons apologizes for Harriet Tubman sex video

Russell Simmons is apologizing after coming under fire for a video that appeared on his new All Def Digital YouTube channel.

The "Harriet Tubman Sex Tape" depicts an actress portraying the famous abolitionist having sex with her "Massa" in order to allow her to run the Underground Railroad. The video has since been taken down. Simmons issued an apology on in which he says he was contacted by his "buddies" at the NAACP asking for removal of the video.

"I'm a very liberal person with thick skin," wrote Simmons. "My first impression of the Harriet Tubman piece was that it was about what one of actors said in the video, that 162 years later, there's still tremendous injustice. And with Harriet Tubman outwitting the slave master? I thought it was politically correct. Silly me. I can now understand why so many people are upset. I have taken down the video. Lastly, I would never condone violence against women in any form, and for all of those I offended, I am sincerely sorry."

ABC Family partners with Wet Seal for character-inspired girls clothing line

Teenage girls will now have the chance to look like they belong on their favorite ABC Family series, though hopefully minus all the drama. ABC Family is teaming up with clothing store Wet Seal for the Crush by ABC Family collection, which launches this fall.

The network partnered with the retailer to create a line of apparel and accessories inspired by characters from their three highest-rated series: "The Fosters," "Switched at Birth," and "Twisted."

"This is definitely [for] a junior consumer," Disney Consumer Products VP Soo Koo tells Women's Wear Daily. "It is a millennial, lifestyle brand. That age group and the type of girls that shop at Wet Seal are perfect for this concept."

The style of the collection will focus on three characters from the shows: "The Fosters'" Callie Foster (Maia Mitchell), "Switched at Birth's" Bay Kennish (Vanessa Marano), and "Twisted's" Lacey Porter (Kylie Bunbury). Pieces inspired by Callie Foster will have a boho aesthetic and come in earthy colors and traditional silhouettes. Pieces inspired by Bay Kennish will be edgier, like motorcycle jackets and maxi-skirts in dark, romantic prints. Meanwhile, pieces inspired by Lacey Porter will be more feminine, with embellished pieces like graphic tops and pencil skirts.

The collection's prices will range from $9.99 to $34.90, and other characters from ABC Family shows may be used as inspiration in the future, depending on the success of the initial launch. Crush by ABC Family will be available in Wet Seal stores in late October.

Who's keeping Wet Seal in business like, forreal? Whatevs, bowing to this fashionable HS queen.

DOCUMENTARY POST: Where's the class in Paul O'Grady's Working Britain?

It's often in August that the most interesting programmes are shown on TV: that series commissioned by people willing to take a risk, only for their managers to get cold feet and reschedule for the graveyard shift over the holiday season, when viewers are fewer and ratings attended to less slavishly. A perfect time, then, to broadcast a series about working-class life, which made the outgoing BBC One controller so nervous that he insisted it couldn't have the word "class" in the title.

Paul O'Grady's Working Britain, to be screened on Thursday, presented by the man still occasionally known as Lily Savage, was first called Paul O'Grady's Working Class – pithier, more accurate and worthy of discussion in itself (can a millionaire who works long hours out of choice describe himself as working class?).

The programmes were made with the Open University, using the expertise of its academics to develop what promised to be a lively account of working-class history, values and identities grounded in solid factual context. You can't fault the choice of presenter, whose trilogy of books on his Birkenhead upbringing – cleaning nightclubs with his mum, eulogising his clippie auntie's bus corporation uniform – bear comparison with the best testimonies of postwar British life. O'Grady, at once appalled by the economic decline of his home town and fiercely proud of the place and values that shaped him, planned a tour of Britain largely undocumented on TV.

But what has transpired is something so different that the two academics concerned have asked for their names to be removed from the credits.

Too Sexy For Your Tsar

Beefy Russian Gay Icon Pavel Petel Scared to Be In Moscow

Pavel Petel is an openly gay model, activist, and gender-bending stud originally from the Ukraine, now living in Russia. But with the country's harsh antigay laws forbidding so-called "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations," LGBT activists unfurling rainbow flags or gathering to discuss their identities have been beaten, harassed, and arrested. Last month, four Dutch tourists who were filming a documentary on LGBT life in Russia were arrested under the new law.

LGBT entertainment blog The Back Building scored an exclusive interview with Petel, who says despite his clearly muscular and often masculine appearance, he's still scared to walk down the street in Moscow. He says he's been harassed and beaten, and is thinking of leaving the country to escape the persecution that continues to escalate under President Vladimir Putin's draconian policies.

Petel tells Back Building he's "very disappointed" in Russia right now… but can't get access to visas to travel to the European Union or the U.S., and doesn't want to risk going back to "poor Ukraine," where he promises fans would never hear from him again.

Asked if he feels safe in Moscow, Petel is blunt: "No, sometimes people threaten me and sometimes they even attack," he said. "That’s why I started changing my appearance in Russia. I am worried about my life and health. Nevertheless, everybody recognizes me out on the streets and wants to take pictures with me. Of course, society now is more aggressive towards people like me. Sometimes I am really scared, but, as I have said before, I don’t have an opportunity to move to the States at the moment. This process requires a lot of documents, and more importantly — money."

Petel has made a name for himself as an artist and model often bending gender by cross-dressing or being naked in public. But under the new laws, Petel says he "will censor and change my style."
