Distingue Traces

"Water me!" exclaimed Twigs. "Water my twigs! My fukkuh twigs!"

This is pretty silly but maybe good? I cannot be sure.

FKA Twigs face

We’ve been following the enigmatic Twigs for about a year now, and in that time she released one the best EPs of 2012, and most recently a song called “How’s That.” That was it until today when she uploaded a new video for a track called “Water Me,” and unveiled a new moniker, a Prince-esque meta name FKA Twigs – that’s “formerly known as Twigs.”

“Water Me” is as hauntingly beautiful and sort of eerie as any of her previous material (seriously, click on the cut below!) and was produced by beatsmith-on-the-rise Arca, who co-produced a bunch of tracks on Kanye West‘s Yeezus and recently released a stellar free mixtape.

Kate proved she can make anything look good. The 21-year-old model has turned turned the world of dull, beige underwear right around. Instead of using the nude bra as a way of hiding its presence under a white top, the model made her's the centre of attention on Monday night. The Sports Illustrated cover girl stepped out in New York proudly flashing her flesh coloured strapless bra. And this was not a case of wardrobe malfunction but rather by design with Kate wearing the bra under a black shear dress.

With sheer panels just across the chest, the 21-year-old was always going to be making a statement under the soft flowing black and white flowing dress.

Seth MacFarlane's "Dad's": 'Casually racist and horrifically unfunny'

Critics who've seen the pilot episode of Fox's new sitcom 'Dads' have accused it of relying on 'poop jokes and sexy Asian schoolgirl jokes'. Producers have already vowed to tweak the tone of the series which premieres on Sept 17

It doesn't debut until next month, but the Fox sitcom 'Dads' is already taking heat in early reviews for being crass, sexist and racially insensitive. Critics who’ve watched the pilot episode have been highly critical of the tone of the show, accusing it of relying on ‘poop jokes and sexy Asian schoolgirl jokes’ for cheap laughs.

The show stars Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi as successful video game developers and roommates whose lives are unexpectedly changed when their politically incorrect fathers move in with them.

The series is executive produced by Seth MacFarlane, whose animated comedies, including ‘Family Guy,’ have been regularly accused of bad taste, yet are also extremely popular.

Jace Lacob of BuzzFeed tweeted: ‘The worst part of #Dads is that it is casually racist AND horrifically unfunny. Which is not a good combination, really.’

NPR's Linda Holmes explained that ‘it's mostly nasty about women of color.’

The show is filmed before a live studio audience but even that has been criticized. 'Having people braying at “ironic” racism makes it real racism,' wrote critic Todd VanDerWerff.

The stars and producers of ‘Dads’ faced reporters Thursday and attempted to defend the show by claiming that it focused on human frailties for the sake of laughs and enlightenment. At the Television Critics Association meeting, they vowed to tweak the tone of the series as appropriate as the season unfolds. However a critical mauling doesn't mean a show it destined to fail, 'Two Broke Girls' and 'The Big Bang Theory' are shows critics love to hate, but the general public just seem to love.

'Dads' is set to premiere Sept. 17.

Doesn't surprise me coming from Seth, but watching the trailer already made me cringe. Nagl, FOX.

Katy Perry vs. Gaga: Who will put on a firework spectacle and who will suffer on the edge of glory?

Katy and Gaga are both releasing albums within a three-week span ... so who will emerge victorious?

Forget the summer of 2013; we already know the score: Robin Thicke 1, World 0. The year's real showdown is looming on the horizon ... when two of the biggest stars on the planet go head-to-head in a battle for pop supremacy.

We're talking, of course, about Katy Perry vs. Lady Gaga. The A-POP-calypse.

They'll both release albums within three weeks of each other — Katy's Prism is due on October 22, Gaga's ARTPOP on November 11 — and though you could just chalk those dates up to the traditional fourth-quarter rush (when labels stack their biggest releases to capitalize on the holiday season sales bump), there are some who see them as something more.

Forget about mere coincidence or corporate strategy ... this could be personal.

"The timing is probably intentional," Nicole Sia, SPIN's managing editor said. "I just watched Katy Perry's 'Part of Me,' and there's a scene at an awards show where Katy's presented an award, and she's backstage and Gaga walks by and is like 'Congrats,' but is throwing shade in a way. So I think it's going to be a showdown."

Of course, personal vendettas aside, there has to be a winner. And just who will come out on top is a matter of much debate. The stats certainly seem to favor Gaga — she's sold more albums and singles — but one also needs to consider recent history, which seems to favor Katy. After all, she's coming off the historic success of her Teenage Dream album, while Gaga's Born This Way opened hue but failed to match the sales of her breakout The Fame album.

And then there's the matter of how each star spent the past year: Aside from her headline-grabbing relationship with John Mayer, Perry spent most of the past 12 months readying her new album, while Gaga was forced to scrap the Born This Way Ball and disappear from the spotlight to recover from hip surgery.

Who Roundup: The Telegraph Wants a Timelady, Twitter Disagrees, Tennant Doesn't Wanna Say

Doctor Who star David Tennant has revealed he intends to keep his mouth shut when it comes to the casting of the Twelfth Doctor, the replacement for the inimitable Matt Smith.

Tennant, who played the Tenth Doctor, is adored by fans of the show and hailed as one of the greatest icons in the rich history of Doctor Who. But when quizzed about the recurring question of a female Doctor, he was tight-lipped.

He told SFX magazine: “You are not going to get a quote from me on that. It will come back and bite me on the a*** whatever I say!”

Collapse )

Cyberspace nearly imploded last night as news broke that the 12th Doctor will be announced in a special live broadcast this weekend. Sunday seems an apt day for Whovians to congregate. Doctor Who, after all, attracts near-religious zeal. But who will be the new deity for fans to worship?

The half-hour show will be hosted by Zoe Ball and fans are already speculating that this could be a hint that we’re about to see the first female Doctor in the show’s 50-year history.

That might be a straw-clutchingly tenuous theory but the time is certainly right. We’ve had 11 consecutive men in the Tardis, so quotas alone dictate that we’re due a woman. The BBC prides itself on promoting equality. What better way to assert its politically correct credentials than casting a female lead in one of its most high-profile franchises?

Darkchild talks Pop Icon Kylie Minogue's new album: 'It's a different sound'

Producer Darkchild has opened up about working on Kylie Minogue's new album.

The producer - real name Rodney Jerkins - said that they are creating a "different" sound for her latest project.

"She's still a pop icon, Kylie's huge around the world," he told That Grape Juice.

"I think the first thing they wanted to do was to bring her over to America to work with some American producers, which was really cool. We're definitely going for a different sound."

Jerkins, who is currently promoting his new reality series House of Joy, also revealed that he is currently working with Mariah Carey, Jessie J and Justin Bieber.

Asked who else he would like to get in the studio, he said: "I think Adele. She does a lot of piano-driven things. I think if we sat down at the piano we could do something cool."

This Is A FIRST LOVE Post, ONTD! 25 Films About First Love To Fall For

This Friday sees the release of James Ponsoldt's "Smashed" follow-up, the tenderly drawn coming-of-age teen story "The Spectacular Now." Boasting standout performances from young leads Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley, the film, which we reviewed out of Sundance and called "valuable and honest," evokes the growing pains of the unusually real-feeling central duo via a familiar conduit—the story of their first love. Romantics that we are at heart, we took this opportunity to sit on our sofas for a week with a bucket of ice cream and a pack of Kleenex, revisiting a slew of films that share that theme. Given the breadth of the field, we've done our best to concentrate on films that take first love as their primary theme, but it should be noted that it crops up as a subplot with astonishing frequency, too.

Aside from finally giving more than one Playlister an excuse to watch "The Notebook," first love stories provide a neat complement to First Time movies, which we ran through last week following the release of "The To Do List." And while we basically avoided instances of crossover, it is telling to note how few real crossovers there are: usually it's pretty clear, even if circumstances are similar, whether a film is going for the heart or for the groin. If the latter is often broader and more comedic, the story of a first love lends itself to the more dramatic end of the spectrum—even the comedies we list out here tend to be of the bittersweet variety. But again, it's a near-universal situation, from the blush and awkwardness and "no one's ever felt this way ever!" of first infatuation, through the sometimes painful process of discovering if there's any hope of reciprocation, and, more often than not, to the relationship's end. Because while some films here may try to convince us otherwise, "first love" rather implies that there's a second, and maybe a third... James Garner claims in "Murphy's Romance" to be "in love for the last time in my life," but if last love is really the one we should all be aiming for, first love, often tinged with nostalgia for younger, more innocent times, is the one that exerts the real pull on our cinematic imaginations.

Karen Elson files restraining order against Jack White, alleges "bullying," jealousy, and aggression

Jack White has been served a restraining order preventing him from "any contact whatsoever" with his estranged wife Karen Elson except as relates to "parenting time" with their two young children. The pair announced their divorce in June 2011 and even threw a party around the event. However, a report from Nashville's City Paper makes it unclear as to whether the two ever formally split. There is no question, however, as to the fact that it's been a tumultuous time since.

Apparently the two have been in disagreement for months over custody issues. Elson currently cares for their children, ages 5 and 7, but White evidently wants to be more involved. But the restraining order affidavit affirms that he has a violent temper and has badgered his ex via emails and text messages. It says that "Elson fears for her and the children's safety as a result of this harassment." She alleges that he isn't fit to be share custody of the kids.

The court documents expose a bizarre jealous streak, claiming that White once ordered Elson to pull the children out of a specific class in their private school because they were learning alongside the child of an artist he believes "ripped off" his music. He's also accused of berating Elson for attending the wedding of another musician who he felt stole from him. The affidavit points to a pattern of "bullying into submission" that contributed to their initial split.

White has supposedly refused to enter family counseling and has been "pressuring [Elson] about the settlement terms for divorce." In one quoted email, he writes, "I'm not extending this anymore. And we're not getting lawyers involved to rip me off." The man has meanwhile been quite magnanimous elsewhere, donating $200,000 to the Congress-founded National Recording Preservation Foundation, and $142,000 to save Detroit's Masonic Temple.

The restraining order was served on July 22. The couple face a custody hearing on August 29.

The first line of a song can be a glorious, life-affirming moment. But the bad ones can destroy your faith in an artist, your belief in their artistry plummeting as you wince in disbelief, wondering how someone you held in such high-regard could put pen to paper and think: 'Yes, this is exactly how I'd like to start my song'.

Popular music is riddled with dreadful intro lines; even the most eloquent lyricists falling victim to a botched phrase or poetic blunder. Here's five of the very worst:

Jack White divorce emails to Karen Elson leak, hates the Black Keys and wife's divorce lawyer

Jack White DETESTS The Black Keys -- in particular BK singer Dan Auerbach -- and the confession was made in the middle of Jack's very nasty divorce.

Jack's wife Karen Elson submitted a bunch of emails to a judge, claiming he was a threat to her safety. Frankly, we've read the emails and they're not that threatening, but what really stands out is Jack's venom over Dan and the band.

Jack is clearly pissed his kids are being enrolled in the same school as Dan's kid, writing, "My concern with Auerbach is because I don't want the kids involved in any of that crap ... That's a possible twelve f***ing years I'm going to have to be sitting in kids chairs next to that a**hole with other people trying to lump us in together."

He adds, "[Auerbach] gets yet another free reign to follow me around and copy me and push himself into my world."

Check out the emails, and then tell us who Jack hates more -- Karen or Dan.

Avan Jogia still doesn't know if he killed Regina

Here's some scoop on Twisted from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 8/1/13.

Anything on Twisted? It’s become one of my new favorite summer shows! – Anna

With just four episodes to go until the end of the first part of the season, Avan Jogia teased that we’ll be seeing Danny reaching “his lowest point” in the last new episode of 2013. And while he confirmed that we will not know if Danny murdered Regina anytime soon, he says he doesn’t know the actual answer to the big mystery. “They have not told me,” he says. “We have an opportunity to make a very interesting, challenging show and that’s all I care about. I want to hold my opinion on whether I want him to be a murderer or not. There are other ways that you can be a bad guy that have nothing to do with murder and that’s what I would like to explore … of course, he may still end up being a psychopath.”

It would be so awesome if they mislead everyone by revealing he's not the killer but then he ends up doing something that proves he really is a sociopath.

Penelope Cruz makes directorial debut with a really weird ad

With her sister Monica Cruz, Penelope Cruz designed a line of sexy underthings for the lingerie brand, Agent Provocateur. Now the actress is set to launch a short film, also part of the L’Agent campaign. It debuted in London on Wednesday.

The Spanish actress has directed a short film to promote the new range of underwear for Agent Provocateur.

Working with her sister Monica Cruz, the Oscar-winning actress, has created a new range for the London-based lingerie brand. 'L'Agent' is set to hit stores including Bloomingdales, Harrods, and Printemps on Thursday, August 1, and will also be available on a special L'Agent website.

In celebration of the collection, the actress chose to direct her debut film, which was shot in Madrid. In fact, the whole project is something of a family affair. Alongside the aforementioned Monica, Cruz's husband (and fellow Academy Award winner) Javier Bardem also makes an appearance, while the film's soundtrack was composed by younger brother Eduardo Cruz.

Filling out the cast, the actress picked Russian model Irina Shayk -- "I chose Irina, as she is such a vivacious woman, and with all the beautiful women in the campaign, I really needed someone who would keep the audience's attention."

In fact, as Cruz told WWD, the experience was extremely personal -- "they gave me all the freedom, and I was able to tell the story I wanted to tell. I used women of all shapes and ages, as it was important for me to let women know that this brand is for everyone." Did you, now?

Is Miles Teller In The Running To Play Mr. Fantastic In The Fantastic Four?

Shailene Woodley had a brush with the comic book world when she was cast as Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but now it's her Spectacular Now co-star that may be getting a chance to jump into a superhero world. Sources have told The Wrap that Miles Teller is one of the actors in-contention for the role of Mr. Fantastic a.k.a. Reed Richards in the upcoming reboot of The Fantastic Four from director Josh Trank.

When news came out last month that the comic book movie would be starting up production down in Louisiana this September we immediately began anticipating a flood of casting rumors, as the movie has yet to sign a single actor on board. In the last few months we've reported rumors saying that Chronicle star Michael B. Jordan was being considered for the role of Johnny Storm a.k.a. The Human Torch, and that Girls' Allison Williams was being looked at to play Sue Storm a.k.a. The Invisible Woman, but there was never really any follow up on those stories.

The up-and-coming star turned 26 this year, which is six years younger than Ioan Gruffudd was when he took on the part back in 2005. This would actually be a closer fit to the comics, as the character was said to be a child prodigy in his mid-20s when he went on the mission that wound up turning him into a superhero. We've yet to hear any real concrete details about how the movie will approach the origin story or the characters, but we're patiently waiting for more to be revealed about the script.

In the comics the story begins when Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm board a shuttle to work on a scientific mission in space. Their ship winds up getting hit by cosmic rays that gives each of them very special powers: Reed, as Mr. Fantastic, can bend his body into any shape; Sue, as The Invisible Woman, can both disappear and project force fields; Johnny, as the Human Torch, can control fire and fly; and Ben, as The Thing, has his entire body covered in hard stone and is given amazing strength. Using their powers for good they fight off the forces of evil.

If Trank and Twentieth Century Fox are indeed going with a cast younger than what we saw the first time around, then it will be interesting to see how the rest of the casting process works out. As noted earlier, be sure to stay tuned in the coming weeks for all the breaking casting news.

In the meantime, what do you think of Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic? Answer our poll below and tell us your thoughts in the comments section.

Is Cote de Pablo Making a Huge Mistake by Leaving 'NCIS'?

Regarding Cote de Pablo's exit from "NCIS": Is it ever smart for an actor to leave a hit TV show at the peak of its popularity? — Leonica, New York

Put it this way: I've pinged talent managers, TV historians, and everyone in between. And for the most part, they answer me with the same two words:

David Caruso.

If you've heard of him, it's likely because of the decade he spent co-starring on "CSI: Miami," a gig that ended last year. But before that, Caruso spent another near-decade in the wilderness. The flame-headed actor made big news in 1994 when he announced his departure from the wildly popular "NYPD Blue" after only one season, reportedly annoyed that he didn't get the raise he wanted. A slew of failed films followed, and eventually TV Guide ranked his fateful decision No. 6 on their list of TV's Biggest Blunders.

Simon Cowell Knew From 'Day One' Britney Spears Would Fail On X-Factor

Simon Cowell didn't hold back on Thursday when asked how he felt about the second season of the "X Factor," which featured (now-departed) newcomer Britney Spears in the mentor's seat.

While Cowell didn't name names, he did speak his mind with comments that could be interpreted to be about Spears, considering the pop star left the singing show after just one season and weak reviews.

"It's like having a dinner party. You invite people for dinner and sometimes it's a fun night, and other times it's not as fun as you hoped it would be," Cowell said at the Television Critics Association panel.

"This [season] is a fun dinner party," he continued before adding that he knew the season-two panel — made up of Spears, Cowell, Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid — wasn't gelling from "day one." "I felt we were doing what everybody else was doing and I had this impatience to get on to [upcoming] season three so we could do what we wanted to do," he explained.

Cheyenne Jackson Shocked by Reaction to Divorce and Pornstache

Actor Cheyenne Jackson appeared on The Frank DeCaro Show on SiriusXM OutQ today and cleared up rumors spreading that his personal life is spiraling out of control.

Said Jackson to DeCaro:

I do have a mustache, but it’s for the new Ira Sachs movie with Alfred Molina and Marissa Tomei and John Lithgow, so that’s what that’s for. I do have a new tattoo, and it’s personal. I’m happy to tell… [the story behind it]…now because it’s out there, but you know, it’s for my dad. It’s song lyrics from an old Elvis song that he used to sing to me when I was little, and it was going to be a Christmas present, but I decided to give it to him early. And it was a beautiful, beautiful moment between us and, you know, it’s very special—and for that to be kind of reduced to gossip fodder is obnoxious, and well, you know what, I wasn’t going to go there but I will say that special moment with my dad came from something else that came out [Wednesday] in one of these f**king [reports] is that I’m in AA, and that happens to be true. I started my recovery last summer, and it became something I really wanted to focus on in my life, and repairing relationships with my family and such, so this is a really strong, beautiful time for me, personally. It also is a very sad time because I’m going through a divorce, but yeah, I mean, you know, some members of my family didn’t even know I was in Alcoholics Anonymous, so that was pretty f**ked up to actually have people [find out that way]…“

Added Jackson, when asked how he felt about being an out gay man having to issue a statement about his divorce:

“Yes, it is weird. But it’s a fact. And you just have to accept the way things are. Sometimes I think I am a little naïve to think that people even care, but they do. So you have to understand the significance that your relationship had to other people and I know that our marriage meant a lot to a lot of people…so that’s not lost on me, and I respect that…I didn’t want to have to say anything. The royals, the monarchy over in England always say ‘Never complain, never explain.’ And so I’d love to adhere to that, but the fact of the matter is, I did have to say something. It was getting a little ugly, and my sister and brother were like ‘What’s up?’ So, it is kind of weird to have to make a statement about it….and Monte [Lapka] and I talked about it and decided what we wanted the statement to say…and it was nobody else’s business….yes, it is weird, but it is a fact.”

Lost Video Pitch For 2007 Legend Of Zelda Movie

Following the disastrous Super Mario Bros. film, Nintendo decided against licensing out its properties to Hollywood for potential feature films, but that has not stopped people from trying to get licenses.

One such example is the above clip found in an animator's portfolio from a pitch for a CGI Legend of Zelda film. The pitch, dated early 2007, comes from the short-lived American arm of Imagi Animation Studios, producers of the big screen TMNT and Astro Boy feature films. The clip is a fairly generic fantasy scene featuring Disney-esque depictions of Link, Zelda and Ganondorf briefly engaging in action, and just seems rather odd. Unsurprisingly, Imagi was unsuccessful attaining the rights from Nintendo.

Deadmau5 hits out at 'that little prick' Justin Bieber for ruining his ‘Top Gear’ dream

Deadmau5 is a few interviews into his press day supporting his annual Veld Festival, Toronto's biggest electronic dance event, and he's had about all of the Justin Bieber he can handle.

Less than twenty-four hours after being spotted next to everyone's favourite bucket-pissing deadbeat monkey-dad at Toronto's Cabana Pool Bar –- and after trolling the overenthusiastic Beliebers of Twitter with snarky tweets about the pop star and off-colour jokes about "vicariously finger-banging Selena" –- the EDM superstar is sick to death of being asked about it.

Ed Sheeran on Hollywood Dating Rumors: I’m Surprised People Care

"I am really surprised that people give a s--t, to be honest," he told Yahoo! Music while promoting the guitar he designed with C.F. Martin & Co. "It's weird. The world cares so much about who people are f--king. A lot of the time, it's not true. I read stories about myself and I am kind of like, 'Really? People believe that?'"

"The Canyons" Is Here!!!

An unusual question hovers over The Canyons, a stylishly scandalous tale of sex, lies, manipulation, moviemaking, murder, and other dark-side-of-L.A. pursuits: Can this malevolent thriller soap opera, written by Bret Easton Ellis and directed by Paul Schrader, possibly match the baroque sleaze and drama of the infamous Jan. 10, 2013, New York Times Magazine story that chronicled the making of the movie? The answer is: Almost (and that's a compliment). The article was built around the bad-girl times of Lindsay Lohan, and it followed the low-budget movie's shoot as it threatened to turn train wreck. But the final film is a tight, diverting piece of work. Its amusement (and limitation) is that it dares to take Ellis' florid cynicism deadly seriously.

Lohan plays Tara, a lost soul who's made herself the live-in plaything of a sex-addict trust-fund sociopath named Christian. He's played by James Deen, the real-life star of 4,000 adult videos — and for once a figure from the porn world reveals true acting talent. Deen makes Christian a rivetingly ice-cold game player. The movie is about how he degrades and controls Tara, recruiting sex partners for her, and also about how she tries to escape him by falling for Ryan (Nolan Funk), a boy toy who's the lead in a bad horror movie Christian is bankrolling. There is much more noirish kink and duplicity on hand. But Schrader tries to find the human side of it all, and he scores with Lohan, who taps a vulnerability beneath her dissolution to remind you why she's still a movie star. Five big spoilers about the third season of American Horror Story!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The stars and producer behind American Horror Story used their platform Friday at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour to cryptically dodge questions about Coven, the mysterious third installment of the FX anthology.

While co-creator Ryan Murphy was scratched from his scheduled participation in the panel -- filming just started on Coven last week in New Orleans and he's been wrapping Normal Heart in New York -- executive producer Tim Minear kept stars Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett from spilling too much about what to expect from season three.

Kanye West Recuts and Scores Trailer for Lindsay Lohan Film 'The Canyons'

The Canyons, the Bret Easton Ellis-written, Paul Schrader-directed, Lindsay Lohan and James Deen-starring thriller, opens in theaters and is available on iTunes and on demand today.

Now, Kanye West has also been added to the mix: In collaboration with his multimedia company DONDA, West has created a new version of the movie's trailer. West worked with Nate Brown on the re-editing of the trailer, and created new music for the trailer's soundtrack with frequent collaborator Noah Goldstein. (Read our featuring on the making of Kanye's latest album Yeezus, including an interview with Goldstein, here.)

We're guessing all of this came by way of Kanye's friendship with Ellis.

As previously reported, Broken Social Scene's Brendan Canning did the score for the film.

'Kill Your Darlings' Teaser

Ginsberg, Kerouac, Burroughs: iconic names today, and figureheads of a movement that rewrote all the rules for American literature and laid the grounds for a sea change in popular culture. Who were they, though, before their apotheosis? Just kids. In 1944, Allen Ginsberg was an uptight, strait-laced freshman at Columbia University. Jack Kerouac was a listless college student, back in school after lasting only a week in the navy. William S. Burroughs had dropped out of medical school and into a drug habit, and was just eking out a living on the fringes of New York´s bohemian scene.

Queen Shakira puts Antonio in his place

Lawsuit against Shakira by ex-boyfriend dismissed

A lawsuit by Shakira's ex-boyfriend seeking tens of millions of dollars from the singer was dismissed Thursday by a judge who determined the case should not be heard in California.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Abraham Khan's ruling sided with lawyers for the pop star who argued that the case should be filed in her native Colombia or the Bahamas, where she currently claims residency.

Antonio de la Rua sued his ex-girlfriend in April stating he was instrumental in her transformation into a global star. His lawsuit seeking more than $100 million claimed that Shakira has not paid him according to their business contracts since 2010. The pair broke up in 2011.

De la Rua has pursued his claims in courts in Switzerland and New York, but those actions have been dismissed.

"I am very grateful that the courts are not allowing these groundless lawsuits to proceed," Shakira, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, wrote in a statement Thursday. "I have moved on in my life and could not be happier now. I hope this harassment will now come to an end."

Khan's ruling does not address the merits of the case, but he determined that the case should not be heard in Los Angeles.

Rachel Fleishman, an attorney for de la Rua, argued during a hearing Wednesday that the case should be heard in Los Angeles because its judges were experienced in the complexity of entertainment contracts and Shakira frequently travels to the city to serve as a judge on the competition show "The Voice."

She also argued that many of the witnesses in the case live and work in Los Angeles.

Shakira's attorney Daniel Wall argued that de la Rua was scouring courts to try to get their case heard, but that it should be handled by judges in other countries.

De la Rua sought access to Shakira's Swiss bank accounts, but a judge rejected that effort in June. He also sued the singer in New York, but the case was dropped.

"When Switzerland didn't work out and New York didn't work out, they filed this case in Los Angeles," Wall said.

"This is a classic case of, 'you can run, but you can't hide,'" de la Rua's attorney William T. Reid IV wrote in a statement. "Eventually, Ms. Mebarak will have to respond to his claims because she will run out of procedural arguments and delay tactics."

De La Rua dated Shakira, whose songs include "Hips Don't Lie," for more than a decade and worked on some of her business deals.

antonio needs to understand he is never gonna win this case cause it's all bullshit, move on asshole!

это пиздец The Russian Government is coming for Queen Madonna & gaga

Madonna and Lady Gaga face potential prosecution from Russian officials after entering the country on the wrong visa. Ever the innovator, Madonna entered Russia with incorrect paperwork first. She brought her MDNA tour to the former superpower in August 2012 under a cultural-exchange visa. According to authorities, that document doesn’t allow for commercial activity. Like selling tens of thousands of concert tickets.

Four months later Gaga followed in the pop icon’s footsteps and made the same mistake. It’s an unfortunate oversight on their behalf but why is this all coming to light now? It turns out the man behind the investigation is Vitaly Milonov, who authored Russia’s infamous law banning gay “propaganda” (and fueling homophobia). You might remember when the gay icons showed their support for LGBTI issues at shows, Milonov tried and failed to sue them for “promoting sodomy, lesbianism, bisexuality and transgenderism among minors”. Looks like he’s a bad loser.

The ultimate victims here aren’t Lady Gaga or Madonna but your average Russian citizen. Not only are their basic human rights being violated but if the pop star duo get prosecuted, they won’t even be able to see their favorite western performers in concert. How long before this vile legislation is repealed?

Zhang Yimou circles Hollywood debut with Josh Brolin-starring 'Quasimodo'

The Chinese auteur might inherit a project once slated for Tim Burton.

There are an awful lot of ifs, maybes and "in talks" still attached to this story, so don't get too excited (or bewildered) just yet, but it's certainly the least expected pre-production news of the day: veteran Chinese director Zhang Yimou is in the frame to direct his first Hollywood studio feature, "Quasimodo" -- obviously enough, a take on the oft-filmed Victor Hugo chestnut "The Hunchback of Notre Dame."

The film is to set star Josh Brolin, whose rugged everyman quality makes him a somewhat counterintuitive choice to play the hideously deformed, socially isolated church bell-ringer, though that could work in his favor -- either way, expect prosthetics galore. It's a project that had been on the Warner Bros. books, with Brolin attached, for two years now: Tim Burton was mooted to direct at one point, though that has obviously fallen through.

The potential appointment of Zhang isn't as surprising as it would have been a few years ago, before his previous film, the Christian Bale-starring historical epic "The Flowers of War" -- China's Oscar submission in 2011 - announced his designs on crossover fare. But this would be his first film both set and shot outside his homeland, making him something of a wild-card choice for the project.

Zhang's compatriot and contemporary Chen Kaige floundered when he hit Hollywood to make the infamously abysmal erotic thriller "Killing Me Softly," though one would hope "Quasimodo" represents a slightly more comfortable match of director and material. The cultural context may be new for him, but Zhang has form in the area of sweeping, romantic period adventures: "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" shot in the style of 2002's "Hero" (the martial-arts spectacular that was the most recent of Zhang's there Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nominees) could be pretty nifty.

The director's output since 2004's acclaimed "House of Flying Daggers," up to and including the glossy but turgid "Flowers of War," hasn't really been up to par, so a change of scenery might reinvigorate him a bit. Whether it works out or not, he's a more inspired choice than Burton -- now let's see if it actually happens. Things will have to go very right, however, for "Quasimodo" to feature in a future edition of the list below.

Lindsay Lohan Taking Recovery Seriously With "Strict" Sober Coach + 'Chelsea Lately' Sneak Peak!

Lindsay Lohan says that she is committed to staying on the road to recovery.
Fresh from completing 90 days of court-ordered rehab, Lohan is telling those around her that she is taking what she learned in treatment to heart and is willing to do what it takes to turn her life around.
"She is taking this really serious," a close Lindsay source exclusively tells E! News. "She wants people to know the days of her clubbing and partying are over and she is a new girl."

We can confirm that she has hired a sober coach, whom she worked closely with at Cliffside Malibu, to be around her at all times as she transitions back to so-called normal life.
The coach is letting her stay at his house in Los Angeles for the next couple of nights and he will be accompanying her on an upcoming trip to Europe and then will live with her for a time back in New York.

"The coach is a really fun, great person, but is very strict about keeping Lindsay together and not falling back," our insider says.
And we are told that it was Lohan who was adamant about hiring the coach and keeping him close at hand.

'It's Always Sunny' episode to mock Emmy snubs

FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is on track to become cable’s longest-running comedy, and is set to tent-pole the launch of a whole new channel next month with its ninth season premiere (FX’s comedy focused spin-off channel FXX). Yet the cult-favorite series is perennially snubbed for Golden Globes and Emmys — not only has Sunny never won a major award, it’s also never even been nominated.*
But the cast is going to tackle the issue in an episode this fall titled “The Gang Desperately Tries to Win an Award.” The setup: They realize all the other local bars win awards and so they visit the competition to see what they’re doing “right.” Then they change Paddy’s Pub to try and fit the formula. Naturally, the makeover doesn’t go very well.

Ellen Page blocks full profile shots + shows her pissed and overheated vegan side at Whole Foods

page-080113- (11)

Taking care of her to-do list, Ellen Page showed up at Whole Foods grocery store in West Hollywood on Thursday afternoon (August 1).

The “Inception” hottie picked up a few items following her business meeting at a nearby office building.

And while she’s had plenty of success in Tinseltown, Ellen previously lamented the plight of females in Hollywood.

Page explained, "Oh my God, yeah! It's constant! It's how you're treated, it's how you're looked at, how you're expected to look in a photoshoot, it's how you're expected to shut up and not have an opinion."

"If you're a girl and you don't fit the very specific vision of what a girl should be, which is always from a man's perspective, then you're a little bit at a loss. Only 23 percent of speaking roles in films today are for women. It feels we've gone backwards."
