Hey, you know who's really annoying? Well, it's actually Justin Bieber. Just silly old Justin Bieber who doesn't think that the average person knows what the word "refrain" means, and not in the musical sense. See, Justin was performing earlier this week, and halfway through a song, he had to stop and ask people to "refrain" ("You know what that means, right? 'Refrain'?") from throwing all sorts of stuff up on the stage, because that's apparently a thing to do when you go to concerts -- to throw things like garbage and iPhones up on stage like it's no big deal.
Who really knows what's worse about this whole video: the fact that Justin Bieber thinks "refrain" is this big old intelligent word, or that people are seriously throwing smartphones up on stage. It's like, come on, kid. You're never gonna get that phone back (or that three hours of your life), you know?
Rolling Stone's “Boston Bomber” issue got a rash of bad publicity, and retailers like CVS and Stop & Stop pulled it from shelves after a “Boycott Rolling Stone” campaign gained steam on Facebook. But the controversy doesn't seem to have hurt newsstand sales.
Retail sales of the issue jumped 102 percent over average per-issue sales for the past year, according to Magazine Information Network. Figures are based on point-of-sale data from 1,420 retailers from July 19 to July 29. Among those retailers, 13,232 copies were sold, more than double the magazine's average sales for the prior year.
Critics accused Rolling Stone of being insensitive and glorifying a notorious criminal when it put Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's photo on the cover. The photo was actually a self-portrait by Tsarnaev and had previously appeared on the cover of the May 5 edition of The New York Times, to considerably less criticism.
The boycott alone wouldn't have had a big impact on the bottom line anyway, given that only 5 percent of Rolling Stone’s total circulation is sold at retail. But the early sales estimates just go to show that once again, controversy can be a major selling point. Take the magazine’s 1970 cover featuring notorious murderer Charles Manson: Not only was it a best-seller, it also garnered accolades in the industry when it won a National Magazine Award.
Can't wait for this album!! Seeing him in October too!
What do Helen Mirren, Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton all have in common? Yes, all three are Academy Award-winning actresses whose talent stands the test of time. But they are also legendary fashion stars who have seamlessly developed mature, elegant personal styles over the course of decades in the spotlight.
Even today, these three actresses are still working the red carpet, and we've noticed that like a fine wine, Swinton, Blanchett and Mirren only get better with age. Here are 13 sartorial lessons we've gathered from these veteran style mavens that some younger celebrities could definitely use to take note of.
16. Samira Wiley as Poussey in "Orange Is the New Black"
The thing about Poussey is that she's yet to declare a lesbian allegiance. But she's gay right? Probably? In one of the earlier episodes, she mentions how a girl in a magazine has nice legs, so... plus we all have crushes on her so it must be true.

Amanda Bynes is doing remarkably better ... she's stabilized, not hearing voices and it's all because of a cocktail ... TMZ has learned.
( Collapse )
Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... doctors at the psychiatric hospital where she's being held have given her a combination of meds -- referred to as a cocktail -- to control what appears to be schizophrenia.
Our sources say Amanda responded quickly and dramatically. We're told in the last 3 days, Amanda has stopped talking to herself and stopped insulting people. To the contrary, we're told she's become downright polite, even saying "please" and "thank you." She has shown no signs of violence.
The progress is all the more stunning because these cocktails are notoriously difficult to gauge -- getting the right combination of meds with the right doses is something of a crap shoot. Our sources say the meds take 7 to 10 days to fully kick in, so they're not declaring victory yet, but they're optimistic.
But there's an ironic twist. Amanda is scheduled to have a court hearing today ... where she's trying to get out of the psych hospital. The fact that she's doing better can actually help her case. We're told doctors are confident the judge will not let her out for several reasons. First, it's unclear if the meds will work long-term. Also, it's highly uncertain she'll voluntarily take the drugs.
One more thing. There are reports Amanda's parents may back off the conservatorship if she does better in the psych ward. Our sources say that is "absolutely untrue." Amanda's parents feel it's essential for her to get long term care and supervision.
Emphasis in title all TMZ, not op.

“It’s very much a global Avengers film. A lot of the movie has to do with their place not just in America, but the world. Part of the fun for me, definitely this time around, is writing Hawkeye. He did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly for most of the movie so now it’s nice to actually have the character there and see him interact with the other guys.”
Whedon’s intentional namedrop of Hawkeye is for fans, Renner and anyone who’s reading Matt Fraction’s brilliant and critically acclaimed Hawkeye comic series. With The Avengers sequel promising to dig deeper into the team dynamics and put them to the test, it’s the right place for Renner to get a chance to bring Barton’s personality to the table.
Written and directed by Peter Berg, based on a true story the military drama sees Wahlberg as a real-life member of a tight-knit Navy SEALs team whose 2005 reconnaissance mission goes askew after getting trapped behind enemy lines. Justin Bieber has given his fans a lot of things over the years, but a mouthful of saliva isn't one of them. Last week, the 19-year-old singer made headlines when TMZ posted photos of the star spitting over a balcony in Toronto, Canada, along with pictures of a group of Beliebers looking up at him from the sidewalk -- a pairing that led people to speculate that Bieber was spitting on the crowd. But that speculation is wrong, his rep tells Us Weekly exclusively.
"Justin didn't spit on anyone. No fans were below the balcony," his rep says. "In fact, earlier in the day, Justin bought his fans hot chocolate and played them some of his new music. Justin loves his fans."
(Indeed, Bieber posted a video on Instagram of the crowd earlier that same day, writing: "I wake up this morning to this. :) best fans in the world. #beliebers #sexyfans.")
"At what point are we going to start demanding that journalists actually fact check?" his rep says. "And at what point does the media have to have some kind of standard or some kind of integrity?"
Bieber, for his part, is keeping quiet about the incident on Twitter -- but he's been busy with other things. On Saturday, July 27, he attended a birthday party for on-again, off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez in Malibu, Calif.
As you all may (or may not) know, the world of high-fashion kicks into high gear starting in August in anticipation for the behemoth September issues of various style glossies that will crowd newsstands everywhere. One magazine in particular happens to carry a singular distinction above the rest, including Anna Wintour's own September Vogue. That would be the arts and pop culture magazine of Vanity Fair and their highly anticipated annual International Best Dressed List, which was already announced with Scandal star, Kerry Washington, topping the list for 2013.
And since a lot of us here have so many celebrity faves who have a great sense of style (whether by their own hand or that of a stylist), I figured I'd make this post so that we'd have our very own version of Vanity Fair's
rather debatable list to celebrate the global stars who continue to inspire us all with their fiercest fashion statements.

"If I went in to this shop with my daughter we wouldn't have to see girlie calendars pinned up on the walls. Because obviously that would be sexist and could break the law," says actor Romola Garai. "So what's the UK's biggest retailer doing lining its shelves with lads' mags like Nuts and Zoo – page after page of women shown as dehumanised sex objects? How am I supposed to explain that to my daughter?"
The actor has made a film to launch a planned national day of action against Tesco as part of the Lose the Lads' Mags campaign run by the feminist groups UK Feminista and Object. The campaign highlights the sexist and degrading lads' magazines, their front pages filled with bare breasts, their back pages with adverts for escort agencies and chat lines ("ram them hard" invites one; "dirty slags need a hardcore shag" says another), available in the UK's biggest retailer.

Back in January, the world was introduced to “Seattle’s premier Jewish narcoleptic drag queen," Jinkx Monsoon, on season five of RuPaul’s Drag Race. By the time she broke out a note-perfect impersonation of Little Edie Beale from Grey Gardens, she had won the hearts of viewers. From there, she went on to win the crown.
Before she was rubbing elbows with the likes of RuPaul and celebrity judges Juliette Lewis, Bob Mackie and Paulina Porizkova, Jinkx (not yet a Monsoon) was a silent character created by Jerick Hoffer. When asked to host a drag night, Hoffer performed an impression of his mother, and Jinkx as we know her today was born.
As the reigning Drag Race champ, Jinkx says “doors are opening to play the roles I always thought I should be playing.” That includes the brilliant show The Vaudevillians, in which Jinkx appears alongside her musical collaborator Major Scales as two vaudeville performers recently reanimated after being frozen alive. Debuting in New York in July, the critically-lauded musical comedy’s run has been extended through August.

Andrew Silverman says he is a man scorned. As Us Weekly exclusively revealed on Wednesday July 31, the wealthy real-estate developer's wife, Lauren, is about 10 weeks pregnant -- and the father is Andrew's close friend Simon Cowell. Although insiders told Us that Lauren and Andrew had "been unhappy in their marriage for some time," new divorce papers filed by Andrew claim otherwise.
The New York Post reveals that Andrew quietly filed divorce papers in NYC two weeks ago; citing adultery, Andrew even names the British TV star and producer, 53, as a co-respondent in the papers. This means that Cowell -- who was photographed for the first time since the news broke in L.A. late Wednesday -- could be called to the witness stand and detail his relationship with NYC socialite Lauren, 36, and even reveal his finances.
"It's really a signal to the spouse who cheated that the wronged spouse is very angry and that it's going to be a very nasty, scorched-earth, high-profile litigation," divorce attorney Martha Cohen Stine explained to the Post.
Cowell and the Silvermans were a happy trio back in January 2012, when they were all photographed kicking back on a yacht during a St. Barth's vacation.
Andrew's brother, Alexander Silverman, tells the Post: "It is an unbelievable story of betrayal. It is a sad story and a tragic story."
The paper goes on to cite other sources who insist that Andrew and Lauren "weren't estranged" when Lauren and Cowell's relationship began
If nothing else, Azealia Banks' career has provided useful markers of just how quickly time is slipping by. It's been over a year since she cancelled her 2012 summer festival appearances, citing "recording commitments" related to her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste.
Now there is no debut album, but there is another round of cancelled summer festival sets. She's pulled out of this weekend's Lollapalooza and Osheaga festivals as a result of a throat infection (a shame for Osheaga-goers, who lost Frank Ocean for similar reasons). Miguel has been added to the Osheaga lineup to replace Frank Ocean.

Arcel is known for writing the first The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo screenplay as well as directing the recent critically-acclaimed A Royal Affair. NEWARK, N.J. -- For all the negative publicity that's surrounded Justin Bieber in recent months -- the alleged drinking, smoking, spitting, fighting with a paparazzo and more -- he entered the stage at the Prudential Center in angelic form: In all white, he descended to the centre of the stage with wings on his sides as nearly 20,000 fans screamed at the top of their lungs.
These girls had Bieber Fever, and they didn't want to be cured.
They cheered on the 19-year-old, who kicked off his Wednesday night concert with the high energy, electro-flavoured songs "All Around the World" and "Take You." There were pyrotechnics bursting to match the tracks' sparkle, fan-made signs in every row and lights beaming from the cellphones capturing pictures and video. Bieber didn't have to move, and the arena would still have been in a frenzy.

All records, no matter how impressive, are meant to be broken. Such is the case even with Mariah Carey and her longstanding position as the artist with the biggest radio hit in history. Who dares to challenge the diva of all divas? The man of the hour, Robin Thicke.
While Carey prepares to fire a shimmering high heel through her car window at an expecting Thicke, the latter’s “Blurred Lines” continues to creep closer to her longstanding radio record. The song, which features T.I. and Pharrell, has garnered over 207.4 million audience impressions during its eight week atop the Billboard Hot 100.
According Nielsen BDS, Carey’s “We Belong Together” currently holds the title for the most audience impressions logged in a single week since the launch of the Billboard Radio Songs chart in December 1990. The tune spent a stunning 14 weeks atop the Hot 100 with an airplay peak of 212.2 million impressions in July 2005.
After staying at number one for fourteen non-consecutive weeks, the song became tied for the second longest running number one song in US chart history, behind Carey's "One Sweet Day" (1995). Billboard listed it as the "song of the decade" and the ninth most popular song of all time. Wikipedia
Hollywood will get a chance to honor the late Cory Monteith at the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards.
In an interview with Deadline Hollywood, the show's executive producer, Ken Ehrlich, said there are plans for "something that reflects an homage" to Monteith, 31, who was found dead on July 13 from a toxic mixture of heroin and alcohol . But "what the extent of that is, or how we’re going to approach it," he added, "well, it’s too early to tell."
Ehrlich has felt pressure to pay special tribute to the Glee star separate from the traditional Emmy's "In Memoriam" segment, a moving video salute to those TV notables lost over the past year. But with just weeks until the Sept. 22 telecast, the producer's planning is under a time crunch.
"If Cory had passed away in March, we'd have had four months to look at this with a little more perspective," he explained. "The reason we're getting all of this discussion now is because he passed away two weeks ago. But we are going to deal with it."
The 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, to be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, come just ahead of Glee returning. After being delayed by creator Ryan Murphy in wake of Monteith's passing, the show's fifth season will premiere on Sept. 26, with the third episode paying tribute to their fallen cast member.
As a teenager, Prince George Alexander Louis will have a mop of brown hair, his dad's mouth and his mom's eyes and nose—at least according to a computer image by portrait artist D'Lynn Waldron, who has envisioned how the royal baby might look in about 15 years.
Waldron created the image of what Prince George might look like by using his parents' features as a guide.

At a special public interview at the 2013 Galway Film Fleadh on Friday, July 12, Zachary Quinto discussed his illustrious career and his roles in Star Trek, Heroes and American Horror Story. BuzzHub had a front-row seat, and witnessed first hand what Quinto had to say about his current and future projects, including some revealing and intriguing information!
When asked by a young member of the audience if he had ever read any of the Kirk/Spock fan-fiction online, he states quite bluntly:
"I’m afraid I have better things to do with my time than read that. If those people don’t have anything better to do, that’s their business, but I do."
It’s clear from this quote that Quinto is not a fan of the FF, and writers of it may be dismayed by this.

The American version will be executive produced by series creator Chris Chibnall and begin filming in January.
Fox has added another event series to its growing slate of event series.
Ahead of the network's Thursday presentation to the Television Critics Association, Fox handed out a series order to the adaption of Broadchurch, the U.K.'s most-watched drama of the new year.
Series creator Chris Chibnall (Dr. Who, Camelot) will executive produce the new incarnation, with production beginning in January for a debut during the 2014-15 season.
Set in an American town, Broadchurch (working title) follows the tragic and mysterious death of a young boy found dead on an idyllic beach surrounded by rocks and a jutting cliff-face from where he may have fallen. Although the cause of his death remains unsolved, the picturesque seaside town where the tragedy occurred is at the heart of a major police investigation and a nationwide media frenzy.

They should really just leave well enough alone, tbh. And for those in the US who haven't watched Broadchurch yet, it starts airing on BBC America on August 7.

McDonald earned three Tony Awards by the age of 28 - for her performances in Carousel, Master Class, and Ragtime. She was nominated for another Tony Award for her performance in Marie Christine before she won her fourth Tony in 2004 for her role in A Raisin in the Sun. She reprised her Raisin role for a 2008 television adaptation, earning her a second Emmy Award nomination. Her first Emmy nod came in 2001 for her performance in HBO's Wit. Fans of the small screen also regognize McDonald from her work on ABC's Private Practice [yeah, fuck that, although I'm glad it pays the bills]. She most recently starred on Broadway as the title role in Porgy and Bess, for which she won a Tony Award.

It's been a while since Ke$ha shared something that no one actually wanted to know, but this week, she's back with a bang. The singer reportedly confessed to Heat that she was born with a tail — an unsolicited admission, it should be noted.
"I had a tail when I was born," Ke$ha said. "It was a tiny tail, about a quarter of an inch, then they chopped it off and stole my tail. That was when I was little. I'm really sad about that story."
All humans have tails very early on in their development, as fetuses. Very, very rarely, children do not lose their tails in development and are born with what are known as "soft tails," which contain blood vessels, nerves, and muscles, but no vertebrae.
So if Ke$ha really did have a tail, she wouldn't have been able to wag it.

It was late, but Fury was far from sleepy. He was talking about the first time he was recognized in public. “Some girl came up to me like, ‘Umm, don’t you do YouTube videos?”
It happened at Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturday dance party in 2010, when Fury, a Miami native, was just barely Kid Fury. “I was like, yeeeeeeah. She was like, ‘Oh, I’ve seen them, you’re funny!’ I was like, ‘Thank you!’ It was just kinda weird. So I was like, wow, that was cute. Then I went upstairs to the actual party, and it happened four more times. I just was like, maybe all these people are friends. Teresa and Joe Giudice face a fate worse than prison — getting their reality TV show canceled.
In the wake of their federal fraud indictments, Bravo executives are debating the future of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” on which Teresa is the fiercest of the fraus, sources told the Daily News.
The show about the lavish lifestyles of five Garden State gals is reality TV king Andy Cohen’s baby and has been a ratings hit
But the show has become a headache for Bravo in light of the recent flurry of bad publicity about the Giudices.
“Nobody wants to see their talent in this kind of a situation,” a network source told The News.
Teresa has, in recent months, been pitching her own spinoff show to Bravo honchos, sources said.
“They are not interested,” said an insider. “Bravo only spins off happy situations — marriages, baby news. Not prison.”
There was no official comment from Bravo.

Fox Pres Talks 'Glee' Plans For Cory Monteith
By JARETT WIESELMAN
August 01, 2013
While everyone at Fox and Glee is still reeling from the sudden death of Cory Monteith on July 13, Fox's Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly did address the actor's passing at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Los Angeles on August 1.

"The third episode will write Finn out of the show. That episode will deal directly with the incidents involved with Cory's passing and the drug abuse in particular," he said, but would not confirm that Finn dies of a drug overdose.
"Ryan [Murphy] will shoot some PSA's with the cast, who will speak directly to the audience." Additionally, all the proceeds from the music in that episode will go to forming a foundation in Monteith's memory.

Last month Glee creator addressed Monteith's passing, revealing, "We will begin shooting in late August the two shows we had already written, so that people can physically go back to work. We will then do an episode that will deal with the death of Finn's character and follow that with a long hiatus. I don't know exactly when we will come back, and we are trying out best with this attempt at damage control."

Monteith died at the age of 31 from a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol, the BC Coroners Service confirmed on July 16.
Glee season five premieres September 26 on Fox, before going on an indefinite hiatus three weeks later.
“I think it’s shameful when you sell out. It depends what kind of artist you wanna be but I don’t want my name anywhere near another brand. I don’t wanna be tainted or haunted. I don’t want to be in everyone’s face. I’m a big music fan and I get really pissed off when it gets like that … and I don’t want people to get like that with me.”

Lindsay Lohan is out of rehab and looks, well, pretty amazing by LiLo standards! The buzz surrounding her visit to the Cliffside Malibu Treatment Center is mostly positive, and now, a member of her recovery group, Tommy Tracy, is speaking out about what the troubled actress was really like behind closed doors. He sounds like a screwball jerk to be squawking about LiLo to the press and so quickly. Not cool. But we still had to know what he has to say ...
Tracy told FOX 5, "[Lindsay]'s got a lot of strong talent acting, but there really wasn't acting there. There was really more soul searching there and her inter-development of her well-being and wanting to gain independence for herself." Hmm, seems promising, right?
He continued ...
[She was] really taking Alcoholics Anonymous seriously and wanting things to be different. Really contemplating life, what is really important in life. ... The party is over, and it is pretty much time for her to get serious about what she is doing in her career. I just don't see any signs of it being a problem.

The actor will guest-star in a Season 2 episode of the hit CBS drama as someone with a connection to Joan’s past, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Jordan will appear in an October installment as Joey Castoro, the son of the surgical patient who died in Watson’s care. The surgeon-turned-P.I. has an affinity for Joey, but her affections for him are tested when he comes to her with an unexpected request.
“We’re going to... explore Joan’s feelings of guilt,” executive producer Rob Doherty recently told TVLine. “At what point do you tap your guilt and give yourself permission to live a life?”
In addition to playing Smash's troubled composer Jimmy, Jordan has appeared on Law & Order: SVU and in the Broadway musical Newsies.
Additionally, Lynn Collins (True Blood) will guest in the episode as a brilliant and beguiling math professor who helps Sherlock and Joan with the investigation of two murdered mathematicians.
Bow Wow’s dream came true yet again when his crush, Tyra , was a guest on Wednesday’s “106 & Park.” After reliving their first kiss on her talk show in 2009, the supermodel asked if he was ready for another round.
“You tryna do the remix?” asked Tyra as Bow Wow sprayed his mouth withand puckered up.
She kicked up her legs on his lap and locked lips with him before he stumbled across the stage.
“I had to really walk backstage to really get myself together. I’m rattled right now,” said Bow after the commercial break.
He later posted an Instagram video celebrating the moment. “Tyra touched these lips!” screamed Mr. 106 & Park.

Collider has provided a transcript of the CW's TCA presentation, thus confirming what people have been assuming since the possibility of a "Flash" TV series was announced: the Wonder Woman pilot—entitled "Amazon"—has been put on hold.
"Amazon is on pause right now," said CW President Mark Pedowitz during the presentation. "The script isn't quite where we want it. It's an iconic DC character, and we are not going to put it on unless it works. And now, having the DC universe expand, with the origins of Black Canary coming on this year [in 'Arrow'], as well as potential origins of the Flash, it's better to wait and get it right."

Tired of waiting tbh
Here’s what I’ve been led to expect from Sunday night’s show.
- Zoe Ball.
- A live studio audience of fans, who were encouraged to come in Doctor Who cosplay.
- A few previous Doctors as guests, taking part in a discussion of the show’s legacy.
- The first footage from the 50th Anniversary special to be screened in the UK. It may be the same trailer I saw at Comic-Con.
- Matt Smith and Steven Moffat interviews, including some pre-recorded stuff.
- The new Doctor. Live.
- A simultaneous broadcast on BBC America in the US.
The decision is made and the time has come to reveal who’s taking over the Tardis. For the last of the Time Lords, the clock is striking 12.
BBC Drama Controller Ben Stephenson:
We can’t wait to unveil the next Doctor with everyone live on BBC1 on Sunday night. Amongst all the speculation and betting, there has been lots of fun and intrigue at work as we’ve been using the codename Houdini as a decoy. It’s the biggest secret in showbiz, even those working with the new Doctor on other projects at the moment have no idea they are in the presence of the 12th incarnation.
Audience tickets to the show come with the following instruction:
Please dress to impress as this is a celebration.
It’s going to be a fun evening on Sunday.
A live reveal seems a bit risky. Are you excited, ONTD?
This blurb from Entertainment Weekly has me rolling:
Who: Widely regarded as one of the most hotly contested roles in British television, the special’s host Zoe Ball will unveil the Twelfth Doctor in their first-ever interview in front of a live studio audience. The half-hour show will include live special guests, Doctors old and new, as well as companions and celebrity fans. Current Doctor Matt Smith and lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat will both give interviews in the special.
Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Ed Sheeran emerged from their Rhode Island loveshack on Monday, July 29 to visit Mel’s Downtown Creamery in Pawcatuck, CT. Sheeran wanted to complete the Big Kahuna challenge - a $19.99 sundae with eight scoops of ice cream, seven toppings, brownie, banana and loads of whipped cream. Taylor cheered him on, playing Eye of the Tiger on her phone and shooting photos and videos. Sheeran struggled, but completed the challenge in 30 minutes and his photo was placed on the Kahuna Wall of Fame.

Lululemon treats larger sizes differently, often stocking them in the back of the store, according to former employees.
"Most of the merchandise was presented out on the floor, hung on the walls, or folded neatly in cabinets for all the world to see," Kim Bhasin at The Huffington Post writes of a store in Philadelphia. "But the largest sizes -- the 10s and the 12s -- were relegated to a separate area at the back of the store, left clumped and unfolded under a table."
Lululemon also didn't restock the sizes frequently, employees told Bhasin. Sizes larger than 12 aren't offered at all. Shunning larger sizes is a key part of Lululemon's strategy, according to Bhasin.
"Far from an accident, the exiling of larger clothing by Lululemon is a central piece of the company's strategy to market its brand as the look of choice for the stylishly fitness-conscious," he says.
The company didn't comment for the story.
Lululemon's competitors, like Athleta, are offering larger sizes in order to get an edge. More than half of the apparel-purchasing population in America is now plus-sized. Lululemon angered some customers last month after suggesting that those complaining about see-through pants should try a larger size.
We’ll start with the obvious one:
Robin Thicke vs. Justin Timberlake

Though the end of American Idol's twelfth season brought a swath of high-profile departures, there will be at least one familiar face on the judges panel: Keith Urban.
"Thrilled to be back on @AmericanIdol with my pal @RyanSeacrest and dying to know who the other judges will be!!!!" the country star, 45, Tweeted.
Earlier in the day, PEOPLE broke the news that another Idol alum –Jennifer Lopez– is "very close" to returning as well, according to a source very near to the star. "She couldn't return last year because she had committed to a world tour," the source said.
On Thursday, Fox chairman Kevin Reilly confirmed Urban's return, and regarding other judges said, "most of what you've heard and read about has merit."
He mentioned talks with Lopez while some reports name Jennifer Hudson, who performed on last season's finale episode and competed on the show's third season, as another contender. </b>

It’s no secret that there is an expiration date on female artists in the music industry and that a metaphorical clock starts ticking against them from the moment they launch their relatively short careers. Typically, women are in high demand throughout their 20s but as they get older, pressure starts mounting for them to mature with their ageing audiences.
That demand for change only intensifies when female acts enter their 40s, before they are unceremoniously forced out of the markets that they easily dominated in their youth. However, although critics often attribute the ousting of those older women to the music industry’s natural progression, in which only the youngest and strongest survive – entertainment’s special brand of Darwinism – there are more sinister forces at work. Namely, the commercial impact of female artists in their 40s wanes as a result of ageism and sexism.
The first detrimental factor affecting the chart success of women in their forties is ageism. We’ve seen dozens of female artists gradually lose steam as they age into their 30s before experiencing a dramatic decline in their commercial success when they turn 40. As if labelled with an expiration date, these women suddenly become irrelevant to their primary music markets when they approach that fateful age.

Denzel Washington will make at least one guarantee in every movie he stars in... We can guarantee he'll do it in his new film "2 Guns" as well.
According to a source close to production, Lindsay arrived on set right on time and did an great job during rehearsals, and that was evident during the actual show. The celeb busted right through the opening monologue in one take, feeding off of the audience's energy and even poking fun at herself from time to time. (Seriously, it was pretty great. But you'll have to watch on Monday to find out what she said.) During the roundtable, Lohan continued to show that she can hold her own and bring the funny.
Even Lindsay couldn't stop herself from busting up laughing for most of the show. Granted, this isn't the star's normal gig, so she got a little flustered and have to start over here and there, but even then, she'd do a little giggle and apologize to the crowd. Too cute.
Once the taping was over, the actress made a quick sweep down by the audience and said "bye" and "thank you" to the crowd before heading off backstage, where she took photos with the show's crew and repeatedly told everyone "thank you."
Glad to have you back, LiLo! Lindsay takes over Chelsea Lately Monday, August 5 at 11:00pm only on E!

Acclaimed filmmaker Lee Daniels has revealed he still experiences racism in everyday life on the streets of New York City - and that is why his new movie The Butler is so important.
In the film the director follows the most important years of America's civil rights history through the eyes of African-American Cecil Gaines, who served as a butler at the White House - and he's now pushing to get the project a Pg-13 rating so everyone can see it and soak in the message of the movie.
And Daniels insists U.S. citizens, black and white, still have a lot to learn about race.
He tells Parade magazine, "It’s a given. I can’t even get a taxi (in New York). I send my (white) assistant out to get a taxi because I can’t."
And his The Butler leading man Forest Whitaker can sympathise with his director.
The actor says, "I’ve had many incidents in my life of racism. I’ve been thrown on the ground. I’ve been frisked. I’ve been arrested so many times I couldn’t tell you. I have no need to talk about it.
"If you can’t accept that these things are going on, you’re living an illusion."

The "Erin Brockovich" writer will tackle the franchise hopeful, which is being produced by Tobey Maguire's Material Pictures and GK Films.
Columbia Pictures has tapped Susannah Grant to adapt the YA sci-fi novel The 5th Wave.
Grant, who was nominated for an Oscar for her Erin Brockovich screenplay and is one of the studio's go-to script doctors for high-profile projects, will tackle Rick Yancey's first installment in a planned trilogy. The book, which was published May 7, has drawn comparisons to The Hunger Games because of its themes of teen romance set against the backdrop of a future in peril.
The story follows a 16-year-old heroine who survives an alien invasion only to search for her brother, who might have been abducted by human-looking extraterrestrials. The girl is helped by a boy who also might be an alien in disguise (OP: LOLLLLLLLLL). ( Collapse )
Lupe Fiasco unleashed some unwarranted beef against actor-turned-rapper Donald Glover aka the Childish Gambino. As race and civil rights tensions are at an all-time high in the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin murder trial, Fiasco had to go on and open a whole new can of worms.
It all seemingly started out in jest, when the Food & Liquor rapper tweeted that "Roscoe's should serve a 2pc. white with beans and call it "The Wind Beneath My Wings." Actually, kinda really funny if you think about it. The folks at the LupeFiascoStore.com thoughts so too, so they tweeted back: "@LupeFiasco can we get one stand-up from you? Just one? I don't care when you do it.. I just need a formal comedy show starring Lupe Fiasco."
Lupe's reply: "That's like pulling a @DonaldGlover in reverse." We'll note that this tweet was more of an obvious remark than offensive response.
"LupeFiasco speaking of which, you guys should do something.. doesn't have to be music either. @DonaldGlover," replied LupeFiascoStore.com. Quite a friendly suggestion, we might add. Here's where things took a nosedive...
Lupe's response to collaborating with Gambino? "Nah, I don't work with blacks @lupefiascostore @DonaldGlover," Fiasco tweeted.

Kellan Lutz has revealed that he is actually a fan of being fully dressed - despite often being snapped without a shirt on.
The actor, who shot to fame in the Twilight Saga, has been seen half-naked on an array of jobs, including in his upcoming films Tarzan and Hercules, as well as in a Calvin Klein campaign.
He is quoted by People as saying, however, that he prefers to be fully dressed.
"I [prefer] more clothes," he told People. It's not like I prefer to be naked or in my underwear!"
He has the same beliefs when it comes to girls - he believes that more is more, even in terms of high heels!
“Leaving more to the imagination’s always better," he said. "There are girls walking in bikinis with one of those see-through white tops or button-downs. It’s very angelic, I like the way fabrics move in the wind.
“I was just at the Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake concert in L.A. … [and] you notice all these girls stumbling to walk [in heels] and I’m like, ‘Why? You’re just gonna have a terrible time here. Who are you trying to impress?’"
He added: "Living by the beach I see so many girls in flip flops and they’re just loving life.”
Kellan can be seen - topless - in the new Tarzan live-action film later this year. He's also nabbed the title role in Hercules, which is out next Spring.

During an appearance on E!’s “Chelsea Lately,” the actress slammed the newswoman when host Chelsea Handler began talking about her.
Handler mentioned that Couric had recently questioned her about Aniston’s relationship.
"Katie Couric was asking me on her show about your wedding and I had to act like I didn't even know you were engaged because I didn't know that was out," Handler said. "Then she was like, 'Well, everyone knows about it!' So, I felt really stupid."
Aniston seemed peeved by the story and didn’t hide her feelings.
"What's Katie Couric? Is she a legitimate journalist? Is she getting tabloidy? Wasn't she on the ‘Today’ show?" Handler quipped back: "She was on the ‘Today’ show. She got a demotion to her own show."
The "American Idol" winner bought the gold-and-turquoise ring at auction last year for just over 150,000 pounds ($228,000).
But on Thursday, Culture Minister Ed Vaizey put an export bar on the item until Sept. 30 in the hope that a British buyer will come forward.
Vaizey said Austen's modest lifestyle and early death aged 41 "mean that objects associated with her of any kind are extremely rare, so I hope that a U.K. buyer comes forward so this simple but elegant ring can be saved for the nation."
The government has the power to temporarily halt the export of works judged to be national treasures. This seems like the sort of thing that the auction house should be required to tell customers before bids are finalized.
