The 10 Worst Grindr Profiles

We're at the point in summer where it's too damn hot and everyone's feeling a little murder-suicidey. What's a responsible gay lad to do?

One option is Grindr, where many homosexuals discover their true calling as petty distractions.

Personally, I love Grindr, and that's what brings me to today's Weeklings! topic: the 10 worst things you can discover in a Grindr profile.

I feel like I see these red flags all the time, so hopefully you're fed up with them too.

Something is going to happen in 77 days. A pronunciation YouTube channel starts a countdown.

YouTube user Pronunciation Book has stopped uploading his pronunciation guides, replacing them with a mysterious and creepy countdown.

Pronunciation Book has never been an enormous YouTube hit. His pronunciation guides, dating back more than three years to April 2010, demonstrate how to pronounce common and uncommon words in American English, and rarely net more that a few thousand views, unlike Pronunciation Manual, which appears to be a parody.

It looks, however, as though the channel has been up to something for a very long time. Starting two weeks ago, Pronunciation Book has been uploading a 77-day countdown, noting that "Something is going to happen".

Freaky!! What do you think, ONTD?

Disney has some gems that are worth dusting off from time to time. They’re the movies for which you would happily forsake all other things just to watch if they air on television. Since they sadly aren’t on right at this moment, let’s just remind ourselves of these hidden treasures

7. The Rescuers Down Under

If you’re looking for love, this movie has a proposal (several attempts, in fact). If you’re looking for dashing rogues, Jake’s your man (er, mouse). And of course, there’s always the trusty albatross Wilbur, voiced by none other than John Candy.

The serial killer is handled in all sorts of ways in popular culture—for example, Showtime’s hugely popular Dexter series takes us so far into the mind of a sociopath that we can empathize with him. Lady Gaga is a bully and a monster :(

Lady Gaga has been branded a ''bully and a monster''.

The 'Born this Way' hitmaker - who has repeatedly spoken out against bullying - has been accused of unpredictable behaviour which has seen her lash out at her staff for no reason, leaving others afraid to step in or speak out.

One former crew member who worked on her 'Monster's Ball' world tour between 2009 and 2011 said: ''She would have a prayer circle before each show.

''One night she just suddenly turned on one of the backing singers, branding her unprofessional and ungrateful.

''She crucified her in front of dozens of people - she skinned this girl alive.

''It was so painful to watch - and no, you couldn't step in. She offers support to her fans who are victims of bullying and calls them her monsters - but she is a bully and a monster herself.''

Let's Talk About Sex, ONTD: 20 Movies About Losing Your Virginity

You never forget your first time, they say. And even if you were to try very hard to expunge the memory, Hollywood will do its best to keep on reminding you anyway. With seemingly another R-rated comedy released every week, (this week's being "The To Do List" starring Aubrey Plaza, opening this Friday, read our review here), The First Time has become increasingly well-trafficked territory, and it's not hard to see why. Really it's a screenwriter's dream—an (almost) universally relatable life-stage conundrum (in the Western world, anyway) that is ripe with potential for misunderstandings, social embarrassment and awkwardness, and that's just within the more comedic end of the spectrum.

In fact, it's telling that so many of the American films that deal with the subject do so from the vantage point of a "smutty" comedy (leaving stuff like "Kids" aside for a moment). Hollywood's double standard in regards to sex and violence is well documented, but it does seem kind of odd that you can go to the theater and see someone's viscera explode in 3-D pretty much as soon as your age is in double figures, but a naked breast or, God forbid, a penis...? But these films, in which there's often a lot of talking, planning, but not necessarily a great deal of skin bared, like their protagonists, get to walk the line between innocence and experience—they get to play in raunchy territory without necessarily falling foul of the censors. (Side question: is there any more prudish word in the world than "raunchy"?) On the flip side, though, the sex comedy will always try to test those boundaries and so, more than many genres, directly reflects the morals and mores of the times it's made in, which is why cherry-poppin' films made two decades ago can feel hopelessly dated. But again, that can be part of their charm.

Here are a few examples, ranging from the classic to the obscure, of the many, many times Hollywood has resigned its membership to the Big-V club, landed its first Martian probe on Venus, attended the Bush Inaugural Ball, or whatever other terrible euphemism you prefer, for the glorious rite of passage/horrible fumbling catastrophe that is having sexual intercourse for the very first time.

Peter Jackson liveblogs the last day of shooting on the Hobbit; remains hobbitty

Our last day of shooting.

Ever since starting these blogs, there's been something I thought I'd like to try one day (as well as answering the other 19 questions I owe you!) - blogging throughout a shoot day in real time. Try to give you all a feeling for what we deal with on an average day.

Today is not exactly "average", given it's our last day of shooting, but if I don't do it today, I never will!

So here goes ... I'll try to update as much as I can during the day. At least with a quick photo. Text will depend a little on how busy it gets.

Right now, it's just gone 6.30am here in Wellington. I'm in bed, about to get up! I didn't get much sleep - too stressed about how we're going to get through everything we need to shoot. I kept running it over in my mind.

We're shooting scenes for Film 3 today. Stuff you will see in Dec 2014, so I'm going to try and make this honest, but spoiler free.

I've been lying here in pitch darkness, watching fight rehearsals over and over again. Our stunt co-ordinatior, Glen Boswell, worked with the actors last weekend, designing some climatic battle moments. He filmed them, and I have them on my iPad, in an application we wrote called "WingNut TV". It's a program that allows a huge amount of material to be catalog used and updated each day over the Internet. It contains all our dailies, edited films, previs, music, and much more. I'm looking at the fights, figuring out the angles I'll need to film them today. A huge amount to do, and it needs to get done.

Our shoot day starts at 8.30am, and is supposed to finish at 7.30pm. I suspect we'll be working late. Whenever we work a long day, I joke with the crew that I'm just softening them up for when Jim Cameron shows up in Wellington to shoot Avatar 2 and 3. Well ... It's not really a joke.

I'll try and update often today.

'The Wolverine' is No. 1, but comes in far below expectations

Though "The Wolverine" slashed away box office rivals this weekend, the superhero's biggest foe turned out to be himself.

The 3-D superhero sequel starring Hugh Jackman debuted with $55 million, according to an estimate from distributor 20th Century Fox -- $30 million less than the original "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" started off with in 2009. Heading into the weekend, pre-release audience surveys suggested the new "Wolverine" had the potential to gross as much as $80 million. Even Fox projected its movie would debut with around $60 million.

Instead, the film got off to a far slower start than expected, coming in well behind the $85 million debut of "Origins," which went on to gross $373 million worldwide. In fact, "The Wolverine" had the lowest opening of any movie in the "X-Men" universe since the 2000 original, which has since spawned four sequels based on the Marvel Comic. Another, "X-Men: Days of Future Past," is planned for release next summer, and Jackman's character plays a prominent role in it.

If Fox's executives were disappointed by the weekend result for "The Wolverine," they were doing a good job of hiding it Sunday morning.

'Welcome to the Family’ Cast Talk Latino Representation & Devious Maids

TCA: NBC’s ‘Welcome to the Family’ Raises Latino Questions

The question of Latino representation on network TV came up quickly at the start of NBC’s Television Critics Assn. press tour on Saturday, which opened with a sesh on sitcom “Welcome to the Family,” about the culture clash between an Anglo and Latino family brought together by a pregnancy.

Latinos have a responsibility to speak up about the lack of Latino characters in primetime, “Family” thesp Justina Machado asserted.

We as Latinos have to speak up more,” she said. “We don’t exist as much as we’d like to see each other.” Noting the growing clout of Latinos in many aspects of American culture, she observed: “I always like to say, ‘We put Obama over’ ” in the 2012 presidential election.

Family” co-star Ricardo Chavira said the focus needs to be on getting more rounded Latino characters, such as the father he plays in the multi-generational loafers. “When we exist we often exist in the realm of specific stereotypes,” he said. The biz needs to make an effort to “get away from them.”

Chavira was pressed by journos for his opinion on the new LIfetime drama “Devious Maids,” produced by two of his former colleagues on “Desparate Housewives,” Marc Cherry and Eva Longoria. He demurred at first, saying that the show revolving around maids working for wealthy families has some “absolutely wonderful elements.” He acknowledged the accomplishment of his former colleagues but said “myself personally I have a couple of issues with it, that’s all.”

“Family” creator Mike Sikowitz emphasized that his intention was not to create another Archie Bunker type with the character played by Mike O’Malley but to mine the universal humor of family relationships.

O’Malley joked: “I want to talk about how Irish-Americans are portrayed on TV.”

Starz Network Picks Up Chiwetel Ejiofor's BBC Mini-Series 'Dancing On The Edge' For USA TV

The Starz network has announced the USA television premiere of the musical drama Dancing on the Edge, an original miniseries from writer/director Stephen Poliakoff, which stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (an actor who's set to have a really good second half of 2013 with 3 films he stars in debuting).

In the 5-episode miniseries, Ejiofor plays the debonair band leader of his self-titled Louis Lester Band, who befriends an ambitious music journalist named Stanley, played by co-star Matthew Goode.

The miniseries is inspired by accounts of Duke Ellington Band's mingling with the future Duke of Windsor Edward VIII in Europe, and takes place in London during the early 1930s.

The story illustrates the journey of a group of Black jazz musicians - the Louis Lester Band - as they steadily rise to stardom, a result of performing at various elite social gatherings hosted by London's aristocrats. Although Britain's climate was flourishing with extraordinary social change, much of the upper-class loathed the idea of Black musicians performing in polite society. Still, the city's more progressive socialites (including members of the Royal Household) befriend the ensemble and introduce them to posh life. The blissful eminence surrounding the band abruptly changes when the band members are entangled in a murder conspiracy.

Ejiofor and Goode are joined by Jacqueline Bisset who plays an influential socialite named Lady Cremone, and John Goodman who portrays an affluent American entrepreneur named Masterson.

The songstresses of the Louis Lester Band are played by Angel Coulby and Wunmi Mosaku (who you'll remember from I Am Slave, and Citadel).

Katy Perry Admits she 'prepped' for Vogue cover. Including 3 months without Alcohol.

It's not easy being a Vogue cover girl! While taking to Jay Leno on Friday, July 26, Katy Perry admitted that the July issue photo spread -- shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz -- required intense preparation.

"I did a lot of my own prepping," the "Wide Awake" singer, 28, said of the cover that was shot on a farm in Upstate New York. "I kind of went on a cleanse, I did a lot of stuff like vitamins and supplements, I changed my coffee to green tea, I didn't drink alcohol for three months.I was really in the zone, I just wanted to be glowing for that cover," she continued.

Indeed, in May, John Mayer's current girl showed off various supplements she was taking in a Twitter picture. "I'm all the about that supplement & vitamin LYFE," she wrote with the pic. Despite the regimen, Perry seemed pleased with the end result -- sharing how "amazing" it was to work with Leibovitz. "She's incredible," she said. "It was really fantastic working with her … She [has] such a great vibe, she's got no ego which is fantastic, and she really let's me be creative as well."

Perry, who voices Smurfette in the upcoming July 31 Smurfs 2 movie, also opened up about the vibe of her upcoming album, which she said will debut "soon." "I’ve had a lot of time to reflect, and I think that it will continually be what I always do -- connecting to my core and trying to bring an honest message that people can relate to,” she said.

Kidnapping Victim Amanda Berry Makes First Public Appearance at Music Festival + Nelly Serenades Her

Amanda Berry, one of three women held captive for a decade, surprised the crowds at a Cleveland music festival this weekend when she attended her first public event the day after her captor accepted a plea deal to serve a life sentence plus 1,000 years behind bars.

The crowds at Cleveland's RoverFest 2013 didn't know what to expect when a host of a local radio station came out on stage at the day-long concert at Voinovich Park on Saturday and told concertgoers that a very special guest was about to make an appearance at the event.

"I want you to give this person a bigger round of applause and cheer than me, anyone on the show, any of the acts that are here," WMMS radio host Rover told the audience. I'm going to bring out a family that you probably know. Give it up for Amanda Berry!"

Berry, 27, was greeted with raucous applause and cheers from the crowds.

"I told her she had a little bit of time to make up on the partying and you guys would help her out tonight," Rover said.

Berry was later called back onto the stage by rapper Nelly, where he dedicated a song to her and danced with her during the show.

Berry, along with Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus were discovered in captor Ariel Castro's home in May.

The three women were abducted between 2002 and 2004, when they were in their teens or early 20s and kept as sex slaves for over a decade. Castro had a child with Berry during her captivity.

Castro, 52, pleaded guilty to 937 charges on Friday.

He accepted a plea deal that sends him to prison for life plus "not less than 1,000 years" with no chance of parole for abducting the three women and keeping them as sex slaves for over a decade.

Castro is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday.

Don Lemon Cosigns With Bill O'Reilly + "Criticizes" Hip Hop & The Black Community

Bill O’Reilly’s remarks on race last week drew heavy criticism from Chris Hayes, Bill Maher, Al Sharpton, Larry Wilmore, and more, but one unlikely person is agreeing with him: CNN host Don Lemon.

Lemon addressed the wounds inflicted by black males onto their community on his “No Talking Points” segment Saturday afternoon, saying he was able to bring this up now that the George Zimmerman trial had concluded. Before the verdict, right wing media had consistently asked why the “liberal media” was fixating on Trayvon Martin while ignoring rampant black-on-black violence, a “deflection,” in Lemon’s words, from the injustices of the Martin shooting. But now that Zimmerman had been acquitted, it was time “for some tough love on the subject.”

Lemon played a clip of O’Reilly stating, “The reason there is so much violence and chaos in the black precincts is the disintegration of the African American family…Raised without much structure, young black men often reject education and gravitate towards the street culture, drugs, hustling, gangs. Nobody forces them to do that. Again, it is a personal decision.”

“Bill’s got a point,” Lemon said. “In fact, he’s got more than a point…In my estimation, he doesn’t go far enough.”

What It’s Like When A Label Won’t Release Your Album

When Levesque was 12, she signed a seven-album deal with Blackground Records, and later her debut album JoJo was certified platinum. Her 2006 follow-up, The High Road, pleased critics and included at least one bona fide hit, the breakup ballad “Too Little Too Late.” She was quickly becoming a rising star in R&B.

Thought we could use another Being Human post since we hardly get them! Still no upload of the whole panel, unfortunately. The most interesting things I found from all these interviews is Anna Fricke did confirm in one that Kyle Schmid (Henry) was coming back for at least one episode. Also, Sam Witwer says we will finally find out once and for all why Aidan has yet to end it all, one weakness to being a vampire. Right after someone asked why we never see vampires as ghosts to which Sam pretended not to hear him. I 100% think it's because vampires do not have an afterlife like humans do. Once they die, it's the end of their existence. Anna also confirmed that Josh as an always wolf would only last a few episodes.

Jose Conseco Slams Alex Rodriquez On Suspected Steroid Use

Jose Conseco seems to be enjoying Alex Rodriquez being under investigation for using performance enhancing drugs.

“Your turn b**ch tit,” baseball’s onetime MVP tweeted.

Conseco, a superstar with the Oakland A’s in the 1980s, who later suited up for the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees, went public with his own steroid use with his 2005 tell-all, Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant ‘Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big.

At the time, he said that steroid use was widespread in baseball and mentioned A-Rod among the users, something Rodriquez strongly denied.

Rodriquez has gone quiet on the scandal now, but on Saturday, his 38th birthday, he is facing a possible lifetime ban from baseball because of evidence that involves him in the Biogenesis drug scandal, the New York Daily News is reporting.

Conseco thinks it’s all much to do among nothing.

“Why are steroids banned if they are such a super drug and liquor and tabacco (sic) is legal. america has it backwards.”

Two of the rap game’s heavy hitters have both recently released new albums. But which is better, Kanye West’s unorthodox ‘Yeezus’ or Jay-Z’s ‘Holy Grail… Magna Carta’? Platform’s Arya Chopra pitted the heavyweights’ latest efforts up against each other.

After the raging success of their last duo album ‘Watch the throne’ – Kanye and Jay Z have each released their own solo masterpieces this summer. Suffice to say, their styles, charisma, and personalities are distinctive much like their albums – but which rapper’s album comes out on top?

Jennifer Garner and Rose Byrne have Royal Baby Fever

Jennifer Garner is gaga for the Prince George. Aussie Bridesmaids star Rose Byrne is also crazy about the royal baby.

Just ask Byrne's boyfriend, Bobby Cannavale.

"My girlfriend's really into it and I'm working with Jen Garner right now in a movie so between the two of them I know everything I need to know," Cannavale said at Thursday's L.A. premiere of his new movie, the Woody Allen-directed Blue Jasmine. "I know what kind of dress she wore. I knew he wore black jeans and drove his own car."

But then Canavale said, "I don't really give a s--t. I don't care."

The Voice Winner Cassadee Pope Sings National Anthem + Visits NASCAR Museum + Live Opry Performance

The Voice Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope sang the National Anthem today at the IMF Brickyard 400 NASCAR race today. This marks the second time Pope has performed the National Anthem at an event: in 2012, she performed at a Dodgers baseball game. After finishing her stint as the opening act on tour for Rascal Flatts, today's performance was a stop on a second radio promo tour to promote her new single "Wasting All These Tears" and upcoming solo album set to be released this fall.

Keep trying to get them country fans by now proclaiming your love for NASCAR. Even with all this promo and her music video, her single is still nonexistent on the charts (while season 4 winner Danielle's new song is actually doing pretty well). Bland and screechy National Anthem rendition, bland and screechy Opry performance surprises no one.

Also, her twitter got hacked today with spam ads for a weight loss pill/supplement thing. I'd provide pictures but by the time I made this post, she'd deleted all the tweets. It was still hilarious because it went on for long enough in between her actual tweets that I thought she was actually shilling this crap herself. LBR, she should be shilling Hot Topic extensions instead. At least she's got a new career path set when her country career dies.

Josh Hutcherson’s Nude Makes Its Way Online (NSFW)

“Catching Fire” is right around the corner and what more of a perfect time for this to come out?Just consider it part of a good promo lineup.

A year ago or so, 20-year old Josh Hutcherson was caught on a online dating site.. under the name, “Connor”.

‘Connor’ was not only sending photos to girl(s) but actual videos of him pleasuring himself to someone who we gladly got a hold of.

The photos, which clearly depict his tattoo, were taken sometime around 2010-2011.

We thought Wendy Williams called the shots on her show — but turns out her husband is pulling the strings.

On “The Wendy Williams Show,” she is a strong, confident woman who isn’t afraid of saying exactly what’s on her mind — even if it’s dissing Beyoncé. But off camera, her husband, Kevin Hunter, is the real boss, our source says.

Rihanna as Madonna for the #SecretProject

Ever since she first signed up for Instagram, Madonna has been tantalizingly teasing photos from a mysterious collaboration with photographer Steven Klein, dubbed “#secretproject” — when she’s not posting Purim selfies, that is.

The hints have been coming for months now (check out the original What’s going on?” post), including the premiere of a dark, violent trailer at the MDNA Tour premiere party in June, but details are still a little shaky: Is it a political statement, or an advertisement for Brahim‘s new clothing line? (Please let it not be that.)

Tonight, a new piece of the puzzle arrived – in the form of the #unapologetic Illuminati princess herself, Rihanna.

The above photo just surfaced tonight, featuring the “Pour It Up” princess decked out as Blond Ambition-era Madonna. (RiRi’s standom for M has been well-documented throughout the years, including her performance of “Vogue” at Fashion Rocks 2008.)

RiRi’s involvement in #secretproject isn’t actually news: Late last year, Steven Klein was tweeting Rihanna directly about the #secretproject. Later on, a photo of something marked “From Madonna to Rihanna: 2 of 3″ surfaced.

This is (potentially) confirmation that Rihanna really is involved — and it’s already everything. But what does it all mean?
All we have is an official trailer that Madonna released in June

The drama began on Monday, when R&B Supergroup TGT (Tyrese, Ginuwine, and Tank) appeared on WLNY‘s morning news show “The Couch,” to perform their new single from their upcoming album, 3 Kings. Samantha Barks

Samantha Barks Lands Role in Universal’s ‘Dracula’

Samantha Barks has landed herself another big movie role!

The UK star broke onto the silver screen last year in Les Miserables, and now she’s teaming up with Universal again for their adaptation of Dracula. Luke Evans is starring as the famous vampire in an origin story that sees a Transylvanian prince risk eternal damnation in order to save his wife and son from a Turkish horde.

Barks will play a figure in Eastern European folk tales known as a baba yaga, a beautiful young woman who turns into a savage witch according to THR. This will definitely be a different role than we’ve seen her take on before and we can’t wait to see it.

Icelandic star Thor Kristjansson, “Game of Thrones” actor Art Parkinson and “Boardwalk Empire” actor Charlie Cox have also joined the cast. Kristjansson will play Bright Eyes, an Eastern European taken as a slave as a young boy and now a vicious assassin in the Ottoman Army. Parkinson will play Dracula’s son, named Ingeras.

The movie is set to open August 8, 2014.

Who ruled 90's radio?

Oh, the '90s. You were a weird time (though not quite so weird as your younger brother, the '80s).

But we do look back on the '90s with a lot of fondness and, as we've noticed more and more, as much nostalgia for those years as we had for the '80s about a decade ago.

With late-'90s-era bands Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Gin Blossoms, Vertical Horizon and Fastball coming to Stir Cove on Friday, we started thinking about music in the '90s, which was dominated by both boy bands and grunge as well as Mariah Carey and Garth Brooks.
