Friends of Nepotism Roberts are worried she's becoming the next Lindsay Lohan

Emma Roberts' recent domestic violence arrest came as a SHOCK to the public ... but not to some of her friends ... who fear the actress is headed down a deep, dark path a la Lindsay Lohan.

Sources close to Emma tell TMZ ... over the last year Emma has dug herself deep into the L.A. party scene. We're told it all started after she broke up with "Glee" star Chord Overstreet -- she began going out all night, hitting the clubs and surrounding herself with people who don't keep their noses clean.

Our sources say a lot of Emma's friends don't know how to help her because Emma won't acknowledge the change in her behavior.

Indeed, we're told after her arrest ... Emma wouldn't talk to her friends about it, acting like nothing happened. Her friends are convinced ... a night of partying contributed to the brawl and the arrest.

TMZ broke the story ... Emma was arrested in Canada earlier this month, after she allegedly gave her boyfriend a bloody nose during a blow-out fight. Sources connected with Emma say it was mutual combat. The matter was dropped after her BF chose not to press charges.

Here’s a video of Adam Levine meeting with the Kmart design team.

The clothing line he designed in coordination with the retailer is imminent. This preview consists of Levine pointing to different jeans lying on a table and saying things like, “A little more faded looking or something,” and “I might not be a fan of myself.” Oh, him too? Here’s to his line including at least a third of the neon that Nicki Minaj’s Kmart line did.

Dianna Agron & Jenna Ushkowitz Tear Up During Chord Overstreet Tribute To Cory Monteith

While performing at the Roxy Theater in West Hollywood on Saturday afternoon, Glee’s Chord Overstreet dedicated a song to his pal Cory Monteith — exactly a week after his death. RumorFix was there.

The song brought Dianna Agron and Jenna Ushkowitz — who were in the audience — to tears.

Chord said, “I wasn’t going to play this but.. Argh. I recently have been going through a lot of stuff with a losing really, really dear friend of mine, so I want to play this song for him. This is for you Cory.”

Glee’s Kevin McHale and Samuel Larsen were also in the audience along with Rock of Ages’ Julianne Hough.

The VIP section was filled with several Glee cast and crew members who appeared happy to see each other — many of them gave each other long hugs.

Glee’s co-creator told Deadline that Glee is planning a memorial for the cast and crew on the Paramount lot.

Robert Pattinson meets Beyonce with the Death Grips

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

There were stories out there that Robert Pattinson was turned away from meeting Beyonce because he was "drunk." This photo shows that's obviously not true.

The false story

Robert Pattinson was turned away from meeting Beyonce Knowles.

The Twilight Saga hunk and four friends watched Beyonce perform in Los Angeles last week but after the group tried to chat to her backstage, they were sent away because they didn't have the correct credentials.

A source told In Touch magazine: "He was at the concert with four dudes, smoking, but in a great mood. He was trying to get into the Beyoncé meet and greet, but he didn't have the right credentials and he didn't make it in!

"His friends tried to sneak into the meet and greet! After they weren't allowed in, [Rob] waited for 10 minutes at the door and security said no."

Robert, 27, was not the only star at Beyonce's show at the Staples Centre. Other celebrities in attendance included Seth Rogen and Glee stars Lea Michele, Naya Rivera and Chris Colfer, as well as Brittany Snow, Derek Hough, Karina Smirnoff, Tiffani Thiessen, Jason Alexander, Tyler Hoechlin and Bella Thorne.

Midnight Red's Thomas Augusto chats with Idolator

Midnight Red is the hottest new boy band on the scene. One listen to their brilliant RedOne-produced party anthem “Take Me Home” is all you need to know that One Direction and The Wanted have new competition. We caught up with Thomas Augusto (the well-coiffed hunk on the left) to talk about their new single, its lake house-themed video and the joys of working with arguably the most successful producer in pop music. Read all about it after the jump.

Midnight Red has actually been around for a couple of years before releasing “Take It Home”. Can you talk about those early days?

Essentially Midnight Red came together organically and a lot of the prior music we put out like “Hell Yeah” or “One Club At A Time” was really the beginning of our recording process. We were still going through a period of incubation and artistic growth and figuring out who we are.

You know, we were just thrown into the lion’s den with The New Kids On The Block tour. Prior to that first show we had done maybe a block party with 60 people and then our next show is 12,000 people, Mandalay Bay sold-out — so we really just had to roll with the punches and grow as we went.

Cillian Murphy has wrapped Transcendence filming, plays the ukulele

Cillian Murphy plays schoolteacher Mike Kiernan in a piercing drama titled, “Broken.” It’s written by Mark O'Rowe, directed by Rufus Norris, and stars Tim Roth and brilliant newcomer Eloise Laurence.

“Broken” is the story of Skunk [Laurence], a young girl who lives in North London with her father [Roth] and brother. Much like “The Hunt,” starring Mads Mikkelsen [TV’s Hannibal], a young girl’s lie ruins someone’s life. Skunk’s innocence is lost when she witnesses the ugliest truths about people.

Cillian Murphy’s character, Mike, has a dynamic relationship with Skunk—first as her nanny's boyfriend and then as her teacher.

'Veronica Mars': Will the series return via Netflix after movie is released?

Brace yourselves, Marshmallows -- Kristen Bell is already beginning speculation that "Veronica Mars" could exist beyond the 2014 Kickstarter-funded film.

In an interview with CNN while at Comic-Con, Bell admits that she hopes it isn't one-and-done with the franchise's foray into film. "This could be my whole life," she says. "And by the way, what a lucky life it would be if it were. There's no formula for it, because it just has never been done before. Except -- and I'm just throwing it out there -- 'Star Trek' did it. They did a TV show and then nine movies. Who knows? Why can't we make a couple films? Or continue to produce content of 'Veronica Mars?'"

Madonna Loses Close Friend to Cancer; She's Attending his Funeral in Ireland.

MADONNA will take a grim journey to the funeral of one of her closest pals this week.
The Material Girl was heartbroken when she heard her interior designer friend DAVID COLLINS had died – just three weeks after he was diagnosed with skin cancer.
David designed the interiors of some of Madge’s favourite London haunts, including Claridge’s – as well as the inside of her homes. Madonna arrived in the UK on Friday – two days after David’s death – and walked through Heathrow airport dressed entirely in black.
She’s planning to head to Ireland this week for Dubliner David’s funeral.
A pal said: “Madonna is beside herself with grief.
“David was one of her closest pals for years – she adored him.
“They’d often have a laugh around London, driving around together. She can’t believe he died just three weeks after his diagnosis.”
Madge’s last post on her Instagram account was a photo of red roses with the message: “In memory of David Collins.
“He was a great talent and a good and loyal friend for 17 years! God bless him and may he RIP.”-Madonna

Teen Beach Movie beats High School Musical with 8.4 million

The broadcast was Disney's #3 best rated telepic of all time - even beating the original High School Musical's 7.7 million.

The Disney Channel movie debuted Friday (July 19) to 8.4 million viewers, the biggest audience on all of TV for the night. About half that audience was made up of the kids and tweens that are Disney's core audience, but it also drew 1.6 million adults 18-49 -- also the best of the night.

It now stands as the network’s #3 original movie ever in Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11, behind only “High School Musical 2” and “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie”.

The “Teen Beach Movie” soundtrack is currently the #1 soundtrack across the U.S., and #4 on iTunes.

“Teen Beach Movie” built each half-hour, peaking with 9.0 million Total Viewers and 4.9 million Kids 2-11.

Leading out of that, a first look at the new series Liv and Maddie held onto 5.8 million viewers, the strongest Disney Channel debut in two-and-a-half years (since Shake It Up!).

Percy Daggs III and Jason Dohring discuss the Veronica Mars Movie

One of the best things about the Veronica Mars movie panel at Comic-Con was getting to witness how much the cast still loves each other. When VH1 stopped by their afterparty hosted by the Samsung Galaxy Experience on Friday night, we saw even more.
“All I want to say is, this is a great guy,” Jason Dohring (Logan) told us, as he embraced Percy Daggs III (Wallace). “I’m so happy to be working with you again.”

"Some of my most enjoyable episodes were the two episodes where we just shot together the whole time,” Daggs agreed. “He’s a fun guy to work with.”

After that bromance moment, Dohring turned a little bit more serious when asked what Logan has been up to in the years between the end of the Veronica Mars series, when he was still a teenager, and the upcoming movie, which catches up with the Neptune High gang as adults.
“I don’t know what he was up to, and what [series creator Rob Thomas] made him do was way beyond what I would think,” he said. “He’ll be pretty different. He had a life-changing experience between when the show ended and when the movie began, so it’s all funneling through the movie.
“When do you ever get the chance to open up a script seven years later and read a fantastic script, with the guys that you love, with Veronica, where you start feeling the emotions all over again.

Marvel Announces 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' As Its Sequel Title

Well, that was kind of anti-climactic. With Warner announcing an untitled Superman & Batman film for summer 2015 earlier today, fans at Comic-Con were hoping that Marvel Studios would try and top the rival studio with various possible announcements. After all, there's plenty of options, there's been an abundance of talk about Phase 3 films and Marvel has planned two dates for 2016 (May 6, July 8) and one for 2017 (May 5) without revealing what those films will be. But it wasn't meant to be if you were hoping to find out what they were. If you were expecting to receive announcements about "Dr. Strange" or "Black Panther" movies, or more casting about the "Avengers" sequel, it didn't happen.

Lady Gaga: "I'm Going To Be The Grandma of Pop"

“This is just the beginning,” Gaga told Sullivan that night, after playing him several more tracks. “I don’t even just want to be a singer forever. I’m going to be a producer. I’m going to bring in young bands and help them develop. I am going to be the grandmother of pop.”

Gaga continued trying to cement her image, but not every move seemed as brilliant as her songs.
She explained that her management wanted a new look for her and told her that she needed to be “blond with olive skin.”

“Rivington Street was aghast at the change,” Sullivan writes. “Already, people talked about her ‘selling out,’ which is also known as ‘doing her job’ or ‘having a job.’ Alien concepts around here.”

While Gaga realized that her hair would have to be redone, her “thick, lustrous, Italian hair” having been replaced by “the kind of dead, gassed-out, NutraSweet-and-iced-tea blond you see in truck stops,” she did note one advantage to her new look. Her boyfriend loved it, since, she said as she rolled her eyes, “He likes f--king a blonde.”

Gaga soon landed a deal with Interscope and had the hack-job hairdo replaced with a look of sleek platinum, with Sullivan writing that “bleaching the surface of her hair made Gaga walk like a star.”

She eventually moved to LA, where her marketing team “worried constantly” about how they would sell her.

“She wasn’t uptown enough for hip-hop; she wasn’t LA enough for R&B,” Sullivan writes. “She wasn’t mainstream enough for pop or pop enough for mainstream.”

And he’s there when Gaga and Carl finally break up (though they would later get back together before finally separating for good). Angry at the way Carl ignores her, Gaga tells him “One day you’re not going to be able to get a coffee in a f--king deli without seeing or hearing about me.”

Taylor Swift visit kids at hospital in Philadelphia

Taylor Swift was named the "most charitable celebrity" by DoSomething.org in 2012, and the superstar continues to prove that she's well-deserving of the title.

Although she is currently crazy busy on a cross-country tour promoting her latest album, 'Red' Taylor took some time out to visit with some young fans at the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia this weekend.

The hospital is partnered with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation and features a closed-circuit radio station inside where patients can spin their favorite songs, conduct interviews and just have fun.

While Taylor is extremely humble about her charitable efforts and made no mention of stopping by the hospital studio, Ryan Seacrest posted a big shout-out on his Twitter page. "@TaylorSwift13 just heard from my team about visit 2 @RyanFoundation at @ChildrensPhila, thnk u 4 spending xtra time," he wrote, along with the photo collage.

Taylor is known for her random acts of kindness and this isn't the first time she has visited a children's hospital to spend some one-on-one time with her young fans.

Right before she embarked on her 'Red' tour, she stopped by Omaha Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Nebraska to visit a young cancer patient.

We love that Taylor is so gracious with her time and we're thrilled for all of the well-deserving fans who got to spend some quality time with the singer!

Helen Mirren thinks girls should swear at men more often

Dame Helen Mirren has said that if she had children, the first words she would have taught a daughter would be ‘f*** off’ – after she endured years of sexism during her early career.

In an interview with Mail on Sunday Event magazine, the 67-year-old Oscar-winning actress gives a candid account of how women were mistreated in the entertainment industry and how disgraced Jimmy Savile ‘could get away with anything’ during his time at the BBC.

She says: ‘If I’d had children and had a girl, the first words I would have taught her would have been “f*** off” because we weren’t brought up ever to say that to anyone, were we?

‘And it’s quite valuable to have the courage and the confidence to say, “No, f*** off, leave me alone, thank you very much.”

'You see, I couldn’t help saying “Thank you very much”, I just couldn’t help myself.’

Cher Thanks Kanye West For "Trashing Those Loathsome Parasites"

This past week, Kanye West had a moment with a photographer.

West was caught outside LAX, where he was bombarded with the facetious banter that comes standard from the paparazzi, asking him "What's up?" and calling him a "cool guy." This was after just last week when Kanye told a man of the same profession to "never talk." This new fellow, though, was not satisfied with the generalized command, and therefore continued to talk (for example, by asking why he wasn't allowed to).

Long story short, Kanye went up to the photographer and grabbed his camera. A brief wrestling match ensued before Kanye relinquished his grip and slid into a white vehicle. The photographer himself then proceeded to cover his face and ran away, ignoring the irony of his reluctance to have his picture taken. When you watch the video from any angle other than the photographer's, it seems highly improbable that anyone could have gotten hurt, though the overkill ambulances were on the scene before you could say "million-dollar settlement."

British TV drama makes black viewers wonder why they pay their TV licence, actor David Harewood says

Harewood, a Birmingham-born actor who stars in US drama Homeland, said mature authority figures were still rarely played by black actors on television, despite the diverse make-up of the UK.
Saying black culture was currently portrayed as “the kind of street, ghetto, working class” experience, he added: “It would be nice to try to define us in other ways”.
“There’s a hell of a lot of drama on TV that must make most black people wonder why they are paying their TV licence,” he said.

Harewood, who is taking part in a National Theatre platform event Walk in the Light to celebrate the contribution of black artists to British theatre, he has now called for the positive messages portrayed on stage to extend to television screens.
He will be joined at the series of events by a variety of artists, including Lenny Henry, Gary Wilmot, Bonnie Greer, Kwame Kwei-Armah and National Theatre artistic director Sir Nicholas Hytner.

Greer added the situation for black actors in Britain is “woeful” compared with the amount of people using media, saying the lack of black representation “paints a picture of the UK that only shows a part of it”.

Jay and Justin kicked off their "Legends of the Summer" tour this week -- and during their closing number Yankee Stadium in NYC -Jay shouted to the audience, "Everybody put a cell phone and light it up ... let's light the sky for Trayvon Martin tonight in here."

Beyonce also dedicated a song to Trayvon ... shortly after George Zimmerman's not guilty verdict last weekend.

I know a lot has been posted already, but I am glad that people are remembering him. Plus this song made me tear up.

Taylor Swift spends time with Joy Williams of The Civil Wars in Rhode Island

Taylor Swift recently spent a few days at her Rhode Island beach house with The Civil Wars singer-songwriter Joy Williams. Williams was accompanied by her husband/manager and their young son. On July 15, Swift and Williams were spotted dining at the Olympia Tea Room in Watch Hill.

Swift and Williams previously collaborated on 2011's 'Safe and Sound', a Grammy Award-winning song from The Hunger Games soundtrack. It is unknown whether the pair are working on new music.

Swift recently told Rolling Stone she has started work on her fifth album.

"I really love collaborating," she shared. "You work with a lot of different people and you find the people you have this dream connection with in the studio. I know those people and I know the ones I want to go back to. But I also have a really long list of people I admire and I would really love to go and contact. So that's kind of where that is."

"I think that the idea of having a different approach to every single one of my albums is so exciting to me. I never want to make the same record twice. Why do it? What's the point? It's so overwhelming that when you're starting a project there are such endless possibilities if you're willing to evolve and experiment. If you're willing to become a different version of yourself, you can really go anywhere with it. And that's kind of where I am. The kind of the laboratory experimental stage of really catching onto a new thing I'm liking."

Fantasia honors Whitney Houston on gospel-themed talent show & fights tears

If there is one person in the music industry today who can identify with the struggles of the late Whitney Houston, it’s Fantasia. So, it was quite fitting that the soulful singer paid homage to the diva during her segment on BET’s Gospel-themed talent show, Sunday Best.

Fantasia performed renditions of “To the Heavens” and “Pass Me Not” in the name of Houston as she fought back tears. She moved the entire audience as well as judges Yolanda Adams and Donnie McClurkin to their feet with her emotional testimony.

Watch Fantasia wow the Sunday Best crowd with her tribute at the source. (couldn't find video elsewhere!)

An Oral History Of "Intervention"

A&E’s Intervention comes to an end this week after eight years, 13 seasons, 243 interventions, 194 episodes, and an Emmy win for Outstanding Reality Programming. Among the reality TV clutter of Kardashians, pawn stars, and boozy housewives, Intervention distinguished itself from other shows by relying on classic documentary techniques, handheld cameras, and deep dives into the tormented psyches of addicts, enablers, and their often dysfunctional families. It sustained itself without scripted contrivances, but rather with the real-life drama that is prevalent behind the closed doors of so many American families.

Obviously a super long piece but really interesting. Has a follow up with Allison (computer duster addict), some background info on how they dodged the "Am I on Intervention?" question, interviews with the production team, and some choice quotes from Jeff "a better-looking, svelte Dr. Phil" VanVonderen.

Soundscan numbers are officially IN for Ciara‘s self-titled new album, and altogether she has managed to push 59,000 units. This marks a vast improvement from the 37,000 units sold with her last set, 2010′s ‘Basic Instinct’. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 this week, making it her fourth studio album to reach the top three on that tally.

The only album to miss the region was ‘Basic Instinct’, which debuted and peaked at #44. It seems these figures have become standard numbers for a female R&B artist with the exception of heavyweights such as Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, and Mary J. Blige. Although these numbers are nothing to write home about, it’s not all doom and gloom. Ciara’s ‘Body Party’ jumps from #25 to #22 on the Hot 100 this week and she still has the VMAs. That is, if her marketing team actually care enough to guarantee her a performance slot there.
