Joanne Barron Renfro, the grandmother of Knoxville-born actor Brad Renfro, died Friday. She was 76.
Mrs. Renfro raised her grandson from the time he was 5 years old at her home in North Knoxville's Lincoln Park community. Her grandson drew national attention at the age of 10 in 1993, when he was cast to star in the film adaptation of John Grisham's "The Client."
Her death came a little more than two weeks after her grandson's in Los Angeles.
Survivors include her sons, Mike Renfro of Powell and Mark Renfro of Louisville; grandson, Jack Renfro of Powell; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Stevens Mortuary, with services to follow. Burial will be Tuesday in Glencoe Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, Va.
