Kelsey Grammer to Produce MTV YA Adaptation "Blackwood"

MTV buys mystery drama produced by Kelsey Grammer

“Blackwood” is from Lionsgate Television and Grammer’s Grammnet Prods. The program is based on a young adult book of that name by Gwenda Bond. “Blackwood” was published on the Strange Chemistry YA imprint of Angry Robot Books, a United Kingdom-based science fiction publisher.

Peter Calloway (“Brothers & Sisters”), a DC Comic book and television writer will pen the adaptation.

The story focuses on Miranda Blackwood, a 19-year-old who, after 114 people that include her father disappear off Roanoke Island, starts investigating. She teams with her high school sweetheart, but discovers she is at the center of the mystery, and also the disappearance of 114 people in America’s early days at The Lost Colony.

Grammer is best known for playing Dr. Frasier Crane on the TV shows “Cheers” and “Frasier.” He wil also appear in the upcoming film “Reach Me” alongside Kyra Sedgwick.

MTV may have been inspired by the success of its program “Teen Wolf.”

Calloway will exec produce along with Grammer, Stella Bulochnikov and Brian Sher from Grammnet. Brian Taylor, vice president of Gramnet, found the manuscript and got the rights for Grammnet and Lionsgate TV.

Most Controversial Videos, 2012: (so far)

Musicians Pushing the Envelope and Making Headlines:

If the song title itself didn't tip you off, Nicki Minaj's "Stupid H-e" music video isn't exactly a beacon of political correctness. BET banned the video from the station without explanation, but we'd guess it was due to the sexually explicit nature of the visuals, including many close-up shots of the MC's famous derriere. The ban itself was a controversy in it's own right, as many cried sexism, recalling BET's reputation for playing the equally racy videos of Ms. Minaj's male peers.

M.I.A.'s "Bad Girls"
M.I.A. landed in hot water for her "Bad Girls" video, which some deemed a culturally insensitive depiction of the Arab world. With scenes of Burqa-clad women speeding their cars through the desert and gyrating their hips in the streets as the men watch from the sidelines, M.I.A.'s work is a defiant statement against the oppression of women. "The imagery becomes a powerful rebuke to the fact that women in Saudi Arabia aren't legally allowed to drive," writes.

Rihanna's 'Unapologetic': The Billboard Cover Story

Every November for the past four years, Rihanna has released a million-selling album. Will "Unapologetic" be her first No. 1?

Tuesday, Nov. 6, wasn't just Election Day for Jay Brown. It was also the day the Roc Nation president/co-founder had to hand over the final cut of Rihanna's seventh album, "Unapologetic," just 13 days before its scheduled release.

"We had our songs ready way beforehand, but we never stop recording," Brown says a week before "Unapologetic"'s release. "If we can record a month later, two months later, all the way to Nov. 6, we're never going to stop until that date. We're never content."

Hours after Brown turned in the album at 6 a.m., 90-second snippets intended for iTunes were leaked online. Fans were familiar with a good chunk of Unapologetic by mid-afternoon. Three days later, Rihanna debuted the album in full at a private listening event at New York's 40/40 Club (owned by Roc Nation co-founder Jay-Z), unveiling some of her rawest, urban-leaning music to date and a few pop surprises.

Chris Hemsworth Marvels At 'Avengers' Success

Chris Hemsworth certainly has much to be thankful for this year. He's already starred in two huge blockbusters, shot a much-anticipated biopic with Ron Howard (Hemsworth plays famed Formula 1 race car driver James Hunt) and, last but certainly not least, he's added the title of "dad" to his résumé (his wife Elsa Pataky gave birth to a daughter in May).

But we at MTV News are thankful too — not just for Hemsworth's blossoming career, but for the colossal against-all-odds fan favorite that "The Avengers" became. We're still not sure how Joss Whedon did it, but we can say we're happy he did, and we're thrilled he's coming back for more with the sequel, due in 2015.

Lenny Kravitz To Play Marvin Gaye In Julien Temple's Marvin Gaye Biopic - Midnight Love.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We'll file this one under unconfirmed for now.

The London Evening Standard is reporting today that they've learned Lenny Kravitz has been tapped to play Marvin Gaye in British filmmaker Julien Temple's tentatively titled Midnight Love project (named after the album Marvin Gaye recorded in Brussels in the early 80s).

The film, which S&A has been following since it was first announced, will focus on the making of the Midnight Love album, while Gaye was living in Belgium - a drug addict, considered a has-been at the time.

If you recall, of all the Marvin Gaye films that have long been in development, Julien Temple's, at one time, seemed the most likely to be completed first; it was early in 2011 that it had been given a greenlight, and financing for its $8 million budget; although, at that time, there was no word on who was being considered for the title role.

Principal photography was scheduled to begin in Belgium late last year, but that didn't happen. As we've reported several times, Janis Gaye, the late singer's second and last wife, apparently knew nothing about the project, stating last year that she was at her home in Rhode Island when she read about plans to make the film.

Janis Gaye was said to be "very skeptical about attempts to bring Marvin Gaye's story to screen," as she has had difficulties trusting other involved parties over the years, since his death.

She was also concerned that Temple's film would "focus on his drug abuse, on other negative aspects of his life."

Kevin Clash, Elmo Puppeteer, Resigns

Kevin Clash, the longtime voice and puppeteer behind Sesame Street’s Elmo character, has resigned in the aftermath of allegations — which Sesame Workshop had previously said were unfounded — that he had an underage sexual relationship.

In a statement released Tuesday, Sesame Workshop said:

Sesame Workshop’s mission is to harness the educational power of media to help all children the world over reach their highest potential. Kevin Clash has helped us achieve that mission for 28 years, and none of us, especially Kevin, want anything to divert our attention from our focus on serving as a leading educational organization. Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Kevin’s personal life has become a distraction that none of us want, and he has concluded that he can no longer be effective in his job and has resigned from Sesame Street. This is a sad day for Sesame Street.
Mr. Clash has played Elmo on “Sesame Street” for decades. He was profiled in a documentary last year, “Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey.”

The sexual accusations were made public last Monday, then later recanted by a 24-year-old man who has remained anonymous. The episode led to Mr. Clash coming out as a gay man, something he had not previously discussed in public. “I have never been ashamed of this or tried to hide it, but felt it was a personal and private matter,” he said in the statement last week.

Production of “Sesame Street” was unaffected by Mr. Clash’s leave of absence and presumably will not be affected by his resignation, either. Mr. Clash had been helping to identify other puppeteers who could play Elmo for some time, and they filled in for him while he was away from work, a Sesame Workshop executive said last week.

I'm disgusted by all of this, tbh. Your thoughts?

Kenan Thompson Leaving SNL for Suburgatory 2.0?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Saturday Night Live's Lorne Michaels is teaming with another one of his featured performers for a scripted comedy set up at NBC.

Kenan Thompson, who has been with the sketch comedy series since 2003, is attached to write, star in and executive produce an untitled comedy, which has received a script commitment from the network. The single-camera comedy would star Thompson as Kenan Monroe, a guy who gives up his New York life and moves to his in-laws' house in the suburbs, where he must contend with three generations of problems.

Michaels will executive produce through his Broadway Video banner and Universal Television, marking the second project he has set up this development season. NBC in August gave script orders to an untitled brothers comedy from SNL's Seth Meyers and his younger brother, Josh Meyers (Mad TV). That project, penned by the siblings, also hails from Michaels' Broadway Video and Universal TV.

For his part, Michaels also exec produces Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, the outgoing 30 Rock and the sophomore Up All Night, which will take a three-month hiatus as it converts from single-camera to a multicamera comedy before returning in February.

Thompson started his career on the scripted side, with roles on The Steve Harvey Show, Sister, Sister and The Parkers, before co-starring on Nickelodeon's Kenan & Kel. He continues to be a featured performer on SNL, with sketches including "What's Up With That" and impersonations including Whoopi Goldberg, Charles Barkley and the Rev. Al Sharpton.

'Liz & Dick' Producer on lilo: "It Was a Challenge"

To says there was some drama involved with Lindsay Lohan's upcoming Lifetime biopic Liz & Dick would be an understatement. A big one.

"Producing a movie with Lindsay is not for the faint of heart," executive producer Larry Thompson told reporters during a Wednesday morning conference call. "I turned 50 shades of white actually during the production."

Even before the film—in which Lohan stars as Elizabeth Taylor—started shooting last summer, though, Thompson acknowledged that hiring the troubled actress came with several strings.

"We had serious challenges to deal with due to her probation and her history," said Thompson. "Therefore we had to make a deal where there were pages and pages of ‘what if' clauses. There never was a ‘what if she can act' clause. It was about, ‘What if there is a car accident? What if there is a violation of her probation [and she's] incarcerated?' Those ‘what ifs' were plenty. She might be the most insured actress who ever walked on a soundstage. We tried to insure ourselves against things that could and, in fact, did happen."

When Lohan was involved in a well-publicized car accident last June while filming Liz & Dick, the production was forced to take an insurance day. "I was financially at risk myself," said the producer, who added that Lohan was apologetic. "It was a challenge."

Still, the veteran producer had only kind words to say about the actress' performance, which he called "truly riveting." "Overall, my gosh, relative to the performance we got and the movie we were able to make because of her, the pain was worth the pleasure. And the audience is going to benefit from the risk we took and the reward that was gained."

In fact, he believes that Lohan's performance will remind people why she became a star in the first place. "I know there are a lot of people out there who are naysayers," Thompson said, "And I think they're gonna be shocked—and people who have believed in her, their belief is gonna be vindicated."

"People will see that Grant Bowler as Richard Burton just steals your heart and Lindsay Lohan breaks it," added the producer. "I'm guardedly optimistic that the public will like the movie very much. I believe if everybody takes a deep breath and focuses on her artistry instead of her antics, they will enjoy a pretty riveting movie."

Liz & Dick premieres Sunday, November 25, at 9 PM on Lifetime.

Frank Ocean Answers that "Are you Bisexual?" Question...

Yes, he made the album of 2012. (Just ask him, he'll tell you.) But that was just the second biggest moment of Frank Ocean's year. Here, while wearing the sport coats of the season and surrounded by his whole Odd Future crew, the ascendant singer opens up to Amy Wallace about his crazy year—including the bomb he dropped on the hip-hop world.

If Frank Ocean wanted to play you a song, you'd drive across town in the pouring rain, right? That's how we've ended up at Jungle City, a sound studio in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. When we walk in, Ocean leading the way, Pharrell Williams turns down the music and greets him warmly. "Here you are," the prolific rapper and producer tells him. "You've walked in at the right time."

"Sweet," Ocean replies, picking up Pharrell's diamond-studded gold chain that sits—fat as a tow rope—at the edge of the mixing board. Ocean, dressed in a gray Supreme hoodie, jeans, and black Wallabees, smiles as he dons the weighty necklace—it jibes with the new Rolex on his left wrist, the Cartier Juste Un Clou bracelet on his right. In a bit, he'll Instagram a bejeweled portrait of himself, but first he unveils three new tracks, stored on his phone, that Pharrell pronounces "crazy, with a lot of comprehensive layers just sort of living harmoniously." When Ocean says he worries a rap number called "Blue Whale" is "risky because I'm rhyming," Pharrell shakes his head.

"That's not risky. That thought is dead," he says. "It's like, 'You know, I rhyme, too.' "

Turning to me, Pharrell says, "I always call him James Taylor. He's probably the closest thing to a writer's perfect exemplification of the unconscious. All the songs are like movies. All you need to do is close your eyes."

New 'Epic' Trailer

A new trailer for the 20th Century Fox animated film Epic has been released. The story tells of a hidden land deep in the forest where the battle between the forces of good and evil continues under our very noses. A teenage girl is magically transported into their secret universe by shrinking down to their size, where she must combine forces with an assortment of colorful characters in order to save both worlds. The pic still looks a little like Ferngully 2013, but I’m not entirely sure that’s a bad thing. There’s more humor in this trailer than in the first, and the “miniaturized” story device should provide for some fun set pieces in the forest.

Hit the jump to watch the new trailer. The film features the voices of Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Christoph Waltz, Beyonce Knowles, Pitbull, Jason Sudeikis, Steven Tyler, Aziz Ansari, Blake Anderson, and Judah Friedlander. Epic opens in 3D on May 24, 2013.

This Season on #TheWalkingDead: 'Wire' Alum to Play Fan Fave Tyreese+ Returning character Spoiler!!

Chad Coleman will play the hero first seen in the comics created by Robert Kirkman.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

There's a new hero coming to AMC's The Walking Dead. The Wire alum Chad Coleman has been tapped to play fan-favorite character Tyreese in the zombie drama based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

In the Image comics, Tyreese first appeared in the seventh issue, crossing paths with Rick and his group on the highway, with the former sheriff providing food for the former Atlanta Falcons linebacker and his family before joining the fold.

The character eventually works his way up as Rick's No. 2 following Shane's death and becomes a love interest for both Carol and Michonne.

The character is rumored to make his debut in The Walking Dead's Dec. 2 midseason finale, potentially setting up another major reveal the way the series first introduced Michonne during the second-season finale.

"There are a lot of characters from the comics that we will eventually work into the show -- Tyreese, Abraham, this new character Negan, who is the latest bad guy [in the comics]," showrunner Glen Mazzara told THRin October ahead of the season three premiere. "They all exist in the world of The Walking Dead, and it's just a matter of time before we meet them all."

Coleman's credits also include I Hate My Teenage Daughter, The Good Wife and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He's repped by Talent Works and Vanguard.

P!nk, a true pop artist

(CNN) -- One day, many years from now, future generations will look back at this time in our country's history and wonder what in the hell were we thinking.

The Kardashians are famous for no reason, same-sex marriage is controversial for stupid reasons, and somehow the "Twilight" franchise is a cash cow.

But our culture's biggest sin may well be the auto-tuned syrup we've allowed to dominate the pop charts. All-time chart records are handed to vacuous acts such as the Black Eyed Peas and singing awards are given to vocal lightweights such as Taylor Swift.

History will show a dark time in our culture in which a million followers on Twitter became a key component to winning a Grammy.

But thank God for Pink.

Nic Cage Acting His Way Out of Tax Debt!

Nicolas Cage continues to chip away at his massive tax debt ... one sequel / three-quel at a time ... 'cause the actor paid off another tax lien, to the tune of $600k!!!

TMZ broke the story ... Cage was hit with a federal tax lien back in 2011 ... for $624,934.64. Seems he forgot to pay taxes on some really expenses gifts he gave out between 2004-2009.

According to the IRS all that's behind him now ... Cage is now paid in full, making him a super-duper-tax-lien-payer-offer ... considering last April he paid off another lien for $6 million. But Nick isn't out of the woods ... he still owes roughly $6 mil to Uncle Sam, but every little bit helps.

Apparently those new (old) roles  ... i.e. "Kick-Ass 2", "Ghost Rider 2", "National Treasure 3" and now "Ghost Rider 3" are really paying off.

We're kidding ... "Ghost Rider 3" isn't real. Yet.

Fiona Apple Writes an Open Letter Canceling Tour Dates, Asks for Blessings for Her Dying Dog Janet

"She's my best friend and my mother and my daughter, and my benefactor, and she's the one who taught me what love is."
By Carrie Battan on November 20, 2012 at 01:00 p.m.

Fiona Apple has posted a very long, heart-wrenching, hand-written letter to her Facebook page announcing that she won't be able to play some of her forthcoming shows. Here's why:

"I have a dog Janet, and she’s been ill for almost two years now, as a tumor has been idling in her chest, growing ever so slowly... She's my best friend and my mother and my daughter, and my benefactor, and she's the one who taught me what love is... I can't come to South America. Not now. When I got back from the last leg of the US tour, there was a big,big difference. She doesn't even want to go for walks anymore... So I am staying home, and I am listening to her snore and wheeze, and reveling in the swampiest, most awful breath that ever emanated from an angel.

And I am asking for your blessing.
I'll be seeing you.

WHEN BLACK FRIDAY COMES: Today's HITS album sales chart has just closed and we’re already peering into our crystal ball for next week, folks, thanks to one-day sales reports from those retailers around the country who haven’t succumbed to tryptophan shock. Heading into holiday weekend, our retail experts ask for your indulgence, with a greater than usual margin of error due to cranberry consumption. Look for Def Jam/IDJ chanteuse Rihanna’s Unapologetic to sell between 240-260k, her biggest debut ever, which is probably good enough to make her #1 next week. Atlantic’s Kid Rock takes advantage of his availability at iTunes for the first time with an estimate of 160-180k for his new, pro-Mitt Romney album, Rebel Soul. 19/Interscope American Idol winner Phillip Phillips’ The World from the Side of the Moon will bow with between 140-160k. Atlantic/Rhino’s Led Zeppelin CD/DVD Celebration, recorded at their much-ballyhooed reunion show at London’s 02 Arena in 2007, should do in the 90-100k range. Geffen diva Keyshia Cole’s Woman to Woman is on target for 75-85k, while 19/RCA Idol album Kelly Clarkson’s greatest hits compilation looks good for 45-50k. RCA Latin star Pitbull’s Global Warning should do 35-40k, while Capitol stalwart Coldplay’s Live 2012 CD/DVD will sell in the 30-35k range. (11/20p)

The Aunt from "The Killing" and Sam Merlotte's Li'l Bro Expecting Twins

The Killing star Jamie Anne Allman and husband actor Marshall Allman are expecting twins, People reports.

“We were ecstatic to find out we were pregnant and overjoyed to learn they were fraternal twins,” the couple, who wed in 2006, told People. “Twins run in both of our families so we were prepared for the possibility, but we know we’re gonna need all the prayers and help we can get.”

Jamie Anne and Marshall, who’s best known for his roles on True Blood and Prison Break, broke the news to friends and family with a film. “It made it super fun and easy to share the news in a surprising way across the country,” the first-time parents-to-be said.

I only wanted to post this because this was the biggest "Wuh?" moment for me, finding out they were married IRL. Also, I'm kinda shocked how lovely Jamie Anne Allman looks normally -- they made her look so dowdy on The Killing.

Anthony Hopkins: Oscars are about kissing Academy member ass, Method actors annoying; water is wet

Sir Anthony Hopkins doesn't suffer fools gladly. Not even icons like Sir Alfred Hitchcock.

"I think later in his years, he could have retired because some of the films became terrible," Hopkins told HuffPost Entertainment in a recent interview. For the record, Hopkins prefers Hitchcock's fertile period between 1954 and 1960, when the director produced "Rear Window," "Vertigo," "North By Northwest" and "Psycho." That last film is at the center of Hopkins' newest effort, appropriately titled "Hitchcock." Directed by Sacha Gervasi ("Anvil: The Story of Anvil"), "Hitchcock" focuses on the making of "Psycho," as well as the relationship Hitchcock had with his wife, Alma Reville. Hopkins plays Hitch in the film, transforming his features and voice to embody the oft-imitated director; fellow acting legend Helen Mirren plays Reville.

"She was exactly what I expected," Hopkins said about his co-star. "Very professional, friendly, very good. Excellent actress. No-nonsense."

Neither is Hopkins, which is why it wasn't that surprising to hear the Oscar-winning star rail against both Method acting and the dog-and-pony show known as awards season.

Now Casting: Harry Obsorn for The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Yesterday (11/19), at least four young men were testing for the role of Harry Osborn in Sony’s sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, which reunites director Marc Webb with stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, adding Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane.

Osborn is an integral part of the Spidey mythology – the son of tycoon Norman Osborn, he's one of Peter Parker’s few friends but evolves into one of Spider-Man’s nemeses.

According to insiders, those testing are Sam Claflin, a British actor who appeared in high-profile tentpoles Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Snow White & the Huntsman; Eddie Redmayne, another Brit who appeared in My Week With Marilyn and will be seen as Marius in Les Miserables; Douglas Booth, who appeared in LOL and is currently shooting Noah for Darren Aronofsky; and Boyd Holbrook, an American actor whose credits include The Big C, Hatfields & McCoys and the upcoming adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host.

Sources say the producers and filmmakers now are seeking actors with characteristics that include athleticism and good looks. The testings come as several films, including Michael Bay's Transformers 4, are in the midst of casting young actors.

Source: 1

Who do you think should be cast? IMO: Dave Franco taking on his brother's role in Raimi's would be fitting and hilarious. None of these choices work. He's got the looks and athleticism down. Another option would be Garrett Hedlund.

As a 25-year old artist, inventor, swordsman, lover, dreamer and idealist, he struggles to live within the confines of his own reality and time as he begins to not only see the future, but invent i

The best member of 1D is completely smitten with Perrie Edwards

One Direction hunk Zayn Malik and Little Mix beauty Perrie Edwards have been dating for quite a while now and it appears that Zayn is completely smitten with PerriePerrie admitted that she finds Zayn very sweet and trusts him, despite rumours about his alleged cheating antics.

Perrie explained, “Yeah [he’s sweet], but everyone thinks he’s a proper bad boy.” Meanwhile, her Little Mix bandmate Jesy Nelson claimed that Zayn was extremely smitten with Perrie and was nothing like the bad boy image he gets portrayed as.

She added, “Literally, Zayn’s the most smitten boy I’ve ever seen. She’s got him under the thumb – he’s like a little lovesick puppy around her. He’s all over her!”

Edwards then continued, “He did say from day one that things would come out in the press. But if you don’t have trust in someone there’s no point in being together at all. You need to trust each other 100 percent, otherwise it won’t work. If you want to be with each other that much, you’ve got to make it work.”

One Direction are currently enjoying double UK success, as they top both the singles and the albums chart.

Can't blame him for feeling that way about Queen Perrie tbh

they all just want one thing from a girl

Brief summary for Leonardo DiCaprio’s Twilight Zone movie

Leonardo DiCaprio has been trying to get a Twilight Zone movie up and running for years now, only for a succession of directors to drop out of the production.

DiCaprio’s production company put the project into development back in 2007, with the script having been written and rewritten several times over the ensuing years. It looked as though Matt Reeves was set to direct as recently as last year, only for him to drop out shortly after.

Now, the first hint of the movie’s plot has been released online, with time travel seemingly at the heart of the story.

Apparently, the film follows, “a test pilot who winds up breaking the speed of light; when he puts down his craft, he discovers that he’s landed a bit late for supper - 96 years late.”

Not a huge amount to go on then, although it’s nice to see two of the television series’ favourite themes (namely space and time travel) sitting at the heart of the movie. Warner is currently looking for a new director to helm the project, so hopefully it will see the light of day in the not too distant future…

Leo if you get this done I will never laugh at jokes aimed at you again. Favorite Twilight Zone episodes ONTD?

Ke$ha loves symbolism, is a troll

Ke$ha on Bathing in Glitter, Singing with Iggy Pop, and That “Intimate Experience” She Had With a Ghost

Three years after launching the world’s flashiest pop career—no, really, she bathes in glitter before concerts—Ke$ha is back with a new album (Warrior, out Dec. 4) and memoir (My Crazy Beautiful Life, out Nov. 20). Here, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter lets loose with TIME.

TIME: First off, I’ve been blasting your album in my office for the last hour. Thank you for letting me call that work.

Ke$ha: Thanks, I love that.

So Ke$ha—it’s Keh-sha, right? Dollar sign is silent?

Oh, yeah.

It’s been almost three years since your last full-length album. Why wait so long?

Has it been three years?

Since your debut album, Animal, yeah. I know Cannibal came out in late 2010, but that was a shorter EP.

Okay, so Cannibal—I was on the road and took, like, literally three weeks off to make Cannibal, which was totally insane. And then I went on the Get Sleazy tour, and that sold out in like, minutes. So then I went on another tour, because I felt like I was gypping my fans. And then I took a little bit of time off and I went on what I like to call my spirit journey.

Ariel Winter staying with sister for now

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Ariel Winter, 14, will remain in the care of her adult sister, Shanelle Gray, for now, a judge ruled Tuesday in the family's bitter fight over the Modern Family actress.

A Department of Children and Family Services report to the court found evidence of emotional abuse by Ariel's mother, Chrisoula Workman, but that Ariel's allegations of physical abuse were "unsubstantiated."

The report also recommended that Gray be awarded permanent guardianship. A trial date will be set to settle that question.

Anita Gumm, an attorney for Chrisoula, had argued that Gray, 34, was an unfit guardian because she's "too young" and "has her own family to deal with," and raised speculation that Gray and her husband were only interested in caring for Ariel for their own personal gain.

"We implore the court to send the kid to her dad," Gumm stated. "Being a controlling mother doesn't mean [my client] is unfit."

But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Levanas stated that Gray had said "eloquent things" at a prior hearing about the family needing to heal. "I don't think she has ulterior motives," he said.

Earlier in the hearing, an attorney for Ariel's father, Glenn Workman, suggested that the father could move into the family home and have Ariel's mother move out.

But the judge ruled against it: "I have questions about the nature and strength of the relationship with her father," Levanas said. (Ariel's parents have been separated for some time, with the father living elsewhere, according to his attorney.)

Asked for comment following the hearing, Chrisoula said, "I love my daughter and I just want our family to be back together."

I'm An Idol, But That's Okay: Bi Rain's 2006 Accolade Questioned

Rain’s 2006 accolade questioned

JTBC News reported yesterday that Rain’s spot on Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” from 2006 is being questioned.

The news program said an organizer responsible for Rain’s U.S. concert, which got cancelled, claimed the vote was rigged.

Apparently, the claim was made in court testimony recently, as the organizer is being sued by JYP Entertainment for 4 billion won ($3.6 million) for failure to execute the 2006-7 tour as planned.

Kang, who oversaw event planning and marketing for Rain’s failed U.S. concerts, said that at the time the K-pop star was big only in Asia, “with no following at all in America or Europe.”

When an attorney for Rain countered by saying that the singer was on Time’s 100 list, Kang said, “That was because we recruited the help of Chinese fans living in the United States." That doesn't meant it was rigged tho.

“This wasn’t some no-name paper; the list was compiled by a leading publication,” said Rain’s agency. “How could we control that?”

Why Ke$ha's New Memoir Is 2012's Answer to 'The Feminine Mystique'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Just hear me out on this one.

If prominent feminist thinkers of the last century or so were to get together and design their composite "woman of tomorrow," what would she be like?

Weirdly enough, she might look and act kind of like... um, Ke$ha.

It's been said before that Ke$ha's work speaks directly to sexual double standards. In fact, MTV heralded Ke$ha as "perhaps the most empowering artist on the planet" in 2010 for her bold, no-apologies reversal of gender roles. Now, let's be real—it'd still be a big, big stretch to cast America's frattiest female pop star as the neon-painted face of the feminist movement on that basis. Virginia Woolf almost certainly would have objected to lyrics like "I don't care where you live at, just show me where your dick's at," and the ever-sensible Betty Friedan might have gently suggested toothpaste for oral hygiene rather than whiskey.

But some revealing nuggets from Ke$ha's frighteningly glittery new autobiography, My Crazy Beautiful Life, suggest that in some ways, she might be just what some of the 20th century's most famous feminist thinkers had in mind.

Keira Knightley Slams Hollywood's 'Disgusting' Body Obsession

Keira Knightley has been the subject of many headlines over the years about her petite stature, something that angers and frustrates the 27-year-old."I think the pressure we put on women to either be thinner or fatter or to have longer legs or shorter legs or bigger breasts or smaller breasts is disgusting," Keira told Access Hollywood at the junket for her latest movie, "Anna Karenina," Joe Wright's big screen adaptation of the classic Tolstoy novel.

"It's amazing in 2012 that that level of misogyny over women is still there... Particularly over young women," she continued. "We pull them apart." When asked if she likes to be thought of as a role model for other young people, Keira was quick to squash that notion.

"I'm a person. I'm completely flawed and nobody should look up to me as a role model,"
she explained. "But, hopefully what I can do is make some interesting stories."
Her latest role, where she plays the complicated Anna, who is embroiled in an affair with Count Vronsky, was challenging for the actress. "I loved [Anna] all the time, I don't necessarily know that I liked her some of the time," she told Access. "She's terrifying, because she really makes you go, 'Am I any better than she is? Do I have the right to judge her?' I think, everybody being human, nobody is better... That's why she is so intriguing."

"Anna Karenina," which also stars Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, is in theaters now.

Josh Hutcherson Suits Up & Looks Good

Alright ladies, and gentleman, I’ll give you all a moment to ogle at the hottness that is Josh Hutcherson in a suit.

Done? Good. The Hunger Games star looked extremely handsome and chic in New York City today as he made his way to the Late Show With David Letterman. Josh is currently in press mode for his latest flick Red Dawn, which stars fellow uber hottie Chris Hemsworth.

Personally, I can’t wait till Josh gets to back being a brunette again. I mean, the whole blonde this is great, but he looks way more…manly, I guess is the right word, with brown hair. So when do we get to see more of Josh in his Hunger Games garb?

Their set has been a fairly quiet one. There aren’t even any good stories. Oh wait, Jennifer Lawrence rear ended someone cause of Honey Boo Boo. Now that’s a good story. Hopefully Josh will have some good ones too.

Launch the gallery to check out all the photos of Josh in his snazzy suit. I’ve made a decision: attractive men should only wear suits or be shirtless. Can we all agree on this decision?

YASSS he looks so good. I like his hair like this. Josh is on the Late Show With David Letterman TONIGHT!

Hugh Laurie might play Blackbeard on NBC.

"House" star Hugh Laurie may soon return to television, playing another roguish character: the legendary pirate Blackbeard.

Laurie is in negotiations to star in NBC's upcoming series"Crossbones," according to reports in the Hollywood trades. The six-time Emmy nominee would play Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, who ruled over the pirates, thieves and ne'er-do-wells on the Bahamian island of New Providence in the early 1700s. Think "Deadwood,"but with boats, and with Laurie as Al Swearengen.

The role would be Laurie's first TV gig since "House" ended earlier this year after eight seasons on FOX. It would also continue his relationship with Universal Television, which produced "House" and is co-producing "Crossbones."

"Luther" creator Neil Cross is writing and executive producing "Crossbones," which is based on author Colin Woodard's book "The Republic of Pirates." NBC gave the show a 10-episode order last spring, but Laurie is the first actor attached to the project. There's no word on when it might premiere.

What do you think of the idea of House Hugh Laurie playing a legendary pirate?

Don't know if I believe it, but i'd watch every second tbh...

Anderson Cooper Fires Back on Twitter While Avoiding Rockets in Gaza

Embedded in Gaza City, Cooper has provided both military updates and snark, telling one woman to "spend less time tweeting about coconut flan and more time actually following the news."

As missiles explode around him, Anderson Cooper launches some snark rockets of his own.

The CNN anchor/correspondent is in Gaza to cover the armed conflict between Israel and Hamas and was shaken on camera by a massive explosion in his vicinity Monday. True to his iron-=man reputation, he pressed on with his broadcast, and continued his updates via Twitter. Just as any Israeli-Palestinian conflict creates sharp debate, his reporting drew critics online, and instead of ignoring them, he publicly lashed the detractors.

'FLAMING LIPS' SINGER Shuts Down OKC Airport ... with a GRENADE!

Question: What kind of dumbass packs a freaking grenade in his carry-on ... and accidentally tries to take it onto a plane? Answer: Flaming Lips singer Wayne Coyne. And he shut down an Oklahoma City airport in the process.

The grenade wasn't live -- thankfully -- but according to the police report, Coyne still accidentally packed it in his bag on November 10th and triggered an alarm at the TSA checkpoint at Will Rogers airport ... like a dumbass.

Needless to say, TSA freaked ... and shut down the terminal while officers frantically tried to figure out how to handle the situation.

Amber Riley breaks down in tears as she opens up about body image.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Glee star Amber Riley, who plays the confident Mercedes on the Fox hit, broke down in tears as she admitted her struggles with her body image as a Hollywood actress.

In an honest and moving interview for the MTV series This Is How I Made It, the actress, who is currently making her Broadway debut in Cotton Club Parade revealed how the pressure to be thin has taken its toll.

The 26-year-old, size 16, actress said: 'Hollywood is a very hard place to be in. It really is. Being the person I am, you know, the size I am, being a woman, being a black woman, there's not a lot of roles for us.

'After I did St Sass, I kept on auditioning. I was being offered the girl who sits in the corner and eats all day, the girl who committed suicide because she was fat,' she continued.

"Diamonds" Becomes Rihanna's 12th Hot 100 #1

There's a shiny new No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, as Rihanna's "Diamonds" rises 2-1. The song dethrones Maroon 5's "One More Night" (1-2) after a nine-week reign.

With her 12th Hot 100 topper, Rihanna ties Madonna and the Supremes for the fourth-most leaders in the chart's 54-year history. (The Supremes' sum does not include Diana Ross' six solo No. 1s.) Only the Beatles (20), Mariah Carey (18) and Michael Jackson (13; also not counting the Jackson 5's four No. 1s) have sent more titles to the top of the Hot 100.

Here is a recap of Rihanna's dozen dominators on the Hot 100:
2006, "SOS" (three weeks at No. 1)
2007," Umbrella," featuring Jay-Z (seven)
2008, "Take a Bow" (one)
2008, "Disturbia" (two)
2008, "Live Your Life" (T.I. featuring Rihanna) (six)
2010, "Rude Boy" (five)
2010, "Love the Way You Lie" (Eminem featuring Rihanna) (seven)
2010, "What's My Name?," featuring Drake (one)
2010, "Only Girl (In the World)" (one)
2011, "S&M," featuring Britney Spears (one)
2011, "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris (10)
2012, "Diamonds" (one to date)

Having first led the Hot 100 the week of May 13, 2006, with "SOS," Rihanna passes Carey as the female artist to reach 12 No. 1s the fastest. Rihanna's six-year, seven-month span between her first and 12th leaders bests Carey's seven-year, one-month, two-week stretch. Among all acts, only the Beatles (a rapid-fire, Beatlemania-fueled two years, four months and three weeks) and the Supremes (five years, four months) reached the milestone more quickly.

"Diamonds" introduces Rihanna's seventh studio set, "Unapologetic," released yesterday. While she has now banked 12 Hot 100 No. 1s, she's yet to top the Billboard 200 album chart. Stay tuned to for projections on whether "Unapologetic" could grant Rihanna her first Billboard 200 No. 1 next week.

The Original Attention Whore

Madonna Louise Ciccone was a real pioneer, she smashed up boundaries in her fingerless lace gloves and in doing so laid the foundations for today's fierce female singers. Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Nicky Minaj, Kesha; they all owe their careers to the trained dancer's determination to be successful as a real female artist rather than a singing doll. Madonna was one of the first mainstream female entertainers to encourage women to own their bodies; not to be unashamed of their sexuality but to celebrate it. When she paraded around in that now iconic conical bra, she was the epitome of female strength, sexiness and power; and her millions of female fans loved it. But what was once groundbreaking is becoming a tiredold shock tactic at the hands of the very woman who empowered a generation.
