Fail Lotus Fail, This Career is Ending... More Reviews

Christina Aguilera's latest album Lotus hit retailers yesterday (November 13), facing stiff competition from several other high-profile releases — and while Your Body has continued to plateau on the charts, anticipation was still running high for Legendtina's big comeback. But were critics ready for Aguilera's blooming Lotus? Well — sort of.

Overall reception has been fairly mixed, with most reviewers awarding the album a middling score and noting that while there are strengths, it suffers from pathological oversinging and production overkill that makes it feel mediocre as a whole. But nobody’s arguing that her voice is still one of the best in the game, and everyone agrees that Lotus is a modern pop record that (probably) improves upon the chaos of Bionic. Read the best quotes from the critics after the jump.

Apparently the Happy Endings cast are Plastics

You always knew deep down that one day you would be best friends with the cast of Happy Endings. You were positive. Well guess what, you can't and you won't be friends with them because they already know they don't like you.

In fact, as Star Magazine reports, they don't like anyone. Says a source:

"They're consistently laughing at inside jokes, and if you aren't in their group, you're completely ignored," snipes a spy.

Apparently when real-life Janice Ian Megan Mullally guest-starred twice as Casey Wilson's character's mother, Star reports she told producers "never to call her again." Ostensibly, that was after her second time on set.

Now everyone is refusing to appear on the show; only Mark-Paul Gosselaar has signed on to do a guest spot despite the cast's reputation. The teen idol "has alimony payments to make" after all.

I don't know much about the cast outside of the show tbh but that's lame if true.

David Beckham tries not to look at the sexy dancers

Hunky Zac Efron & Rebel Wilson also attended the Lakers vs Spurs game.

Zac Efron, wearing a Lakers cap, and David Beckham enjoying some nosh, both attended last night’s (November 13, 2012) Los Angeles Lakers vs the San Antonio Spurs game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.

Beckham, a regular at the Staples Center, took time to chat with the Spurs’ point guard and ex-husband of Eva Longoria (Victoria Beckham‘s good friend), Tony Parker. I wonder how Eva will feel about that?

Beckham just signed on as a face of Breitling watches (watch his ad below), and shows off the Transocean Chronograph Unitime worldtimer timepiece in a new campaign. The soccer star recently shot his first series of ads on the Mojave Air & Space Port in California, standing in front of a private jet wearing his watch.

“I’ve been a longtime admirer of Breitling,” he says in a release. “It was a natural choice for me to partner with this fantastic brand.”

Yass Breaking Slay: Final 'Twilight' Film Has Biggest Opening-Day Ticket Sales of Year in Italy

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" brought in $2.7 million on its first night, giving the country a much-needed box office boost.

ROME – Italy’s box office got some much-needed good news after The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 had the most successful opening-day ticket sales of the year in Italy, with more than 327,000 tickets sold nationally for the film’s Wednesday rollout.

The film actually premiered in Italy a day earlier, at the International Rome Film Festival, where it sold out the festival’s largest venue. On Tuesday night -- lasting until Wednesday morning -- the Rome festival also hosted a special Twilight Saga marathon, in which the first four installments of the film screened back-to-back.

It all helped set up a strong box office performance. The film pulled in more than €2.2 million ($2.8 million) after opening on 885 screens nationally. The 327,000 tickets sold on opening night beat the previous high for the year set by The Avengers, which sold 309,000 tickets on its opening night back in April. It wasn't immediately clear if the final Twilight film also beat Avengers in terms of first-day box office revenue.

The film earned more than The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, which took in €1.7 million ($2.1 million) last year.

X FACTOR DISCUSSION + Cece warned to stay away from Harry

Vote topper Tate Stevens: "Every tweet, man, Harry, Harry, Harry. I got to find out what his secret is...Everyone loves Harry."

With such deep ties to the program, MTV News asked the current contestants if they could ask One Direction one question, what would it be? Some of their answers were quite colorful.

CeCe Frey has heard a lot about Harry Styles and has been warned by her fans about his reputation with the ladies. "You know what? So many fans of One Direction have been tweeting to me, saying like, 'If you get to see One Direction, stay away from Harry!' " she laughed. "So I'm always like, 'OK, I will stay away from Harry!' "

Rolling Stones myth, fact swirl in 'Crossfire Hurricane'

If you needed another reminder of the implacability of time, the Rolling Stones are currently celebrating 50 years in show business — a fact that might blow the minds of people old enough to use the phrase "blow my mind" and at the same time mean less than nothing to people young enough to regard 50 years as an imponderable abstraction.

As part of the band's several-pronged multimedia anniversary — a two-year party, dating either from the initial 1962 confluence of blues fans Brian JonesMick Jagger and Keith Richards or to the January 1963 addition of last original Stone Charlie Watts — HBO will premiere Thursday a newdocumentary, "Crossfire Hurricane." The title, taken from the song "Jumpin' Jack Flash," reflects the film's temperament: It pictures their life together as a swirling maelstrom that sucks them up out of the London clubs in the early '60s and spits them out, a decade and a half later, as the stadium attraction they remain to this day, when they feel like it.

Director Brett Morgen (co-director, with Nanette Burstein, of the visually fanciful 2002 Robert Evans documentary "The Kid Stays in the Picture") begins with a series of voice-overs from his panel of somewhat contradictory narrators, as if to say, This cannot be definitive: "It's almost a fairy story, you know," says Keith. Charlie "can't remember much of it, to be honest" and Mick can remember some of it but says that it's all written down somewhere, and Bill Wyman, the last man to quit the Rolling Stones, quotes the old adage that one shouldn't "let the truth spoil a good story."

American Horror Story is getting a third season.

The FX horror anthology shock-fest will return for 13 more episodes next fall from executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.

“With American Horror Story: Asylum, Ryan and Brad have raised the bar in every way from Murder House, the first American Horror Story miniseries,” said FX president and general manager John Landgraf. “And their original idea—the notion of doing an anthological series of miniseries with a repertory cast—has proven groundbreaking, wildly successful and will prove to be trendsetting. We can’t wait to see what deviously brilliant ideas they come up with for their third miniseries.”

Tom Hiddleston talks short film competition 'Done In 60 Seconds'

"I was honoured to be asked, because I think in our industry it's so important to keep the doors open," Hiddleston told Digital Spy, "and keep inspiring and invigorating new filmmakers to come through and allow them to work.

"There's something fun about this constraint of a minute, because sometimes I think it sharpens your instincts, it makes you more economical about story and tone."

Five finalists will be selected by Hiddleston and his fellow judges, with the winner revealed at the Jameson Empire Awards ceremony.

Next year's Jameson Empire Awards will be held in London on Sunday, March 24, 2013.

First Clip From The Sequel To The Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre

“‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars…”

Hostess Shutdown Imminent if Strike Continues

Hostess Brands Inc. will seek to liquidate the entire company if “enough” striking workers don’t return to work by 4 p.m. Thursday, the company said Wednesday.

Hostess, maker of such iconic brands as Wonder Bread, Twinkies and Ding Dongs, is responding to a strike that began Friday by the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union.

No bargaining talks were scheduled for Wednesday or today.

The company, based in Kansas City for many years when it was known as Interstate Bakeries, is in its second bankruptcy reorganization in eight years. It listed assets of $982 million against liabilities of $1.43 billion. A reorganization plan was filed Oct. 10.

“We simply do not have the financial resources to survive an ongoing national strike,” said Gregory F. Rayburn, the company’s chief executive.

'Flipping Out' Star, Jeff Lewis, Sues Assistant

As Zoila Chavez would say, "Oh, Jeffrey." Interior designer and reality TV star, Jeff Lewis is suing his long-suffering assistant and "Flipping Out" co-star, Jenni Pulos.

ET reports Lewis filed a lawsuit seeking to prevent Pulos from publishing private information in her upcoming book, "Hang in There, Baby!" The book's previous title was, "Hang in There, Baby -- What One of the World's Most Difficult Bosses Taught Me About Life, Work and Love."

Jeff claims Jenni signed a non-disclosure agreement in 2008, which prevents her from publishing private information about him and his business. Jenni reportedly told Jeff the book is not about him, but since she won't provide him a copy of the manuscript, he's hauling her into court.

In six seasons of the Bravo show based on Lewis business and his working relationships, it seems the public has already seen it all -- from sexual harassment, to employee shaming, to staff strip club outings and hiring and firing practices that are questionable at best.

Jeff has always said his show's camera crews catch the real deal, so what is there to hide?

Jane Lynch, Andrew Rannells, Boy George, and Sharon Needles Cover 'Out 100'

“This year has been a roller coaster -- everything I’ve ever wanted has come true,” Needles says just after stepping off stage as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in a San Antonio, production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. “I’ve pretty much crossed off everything on my bucket list.”

Since beating out her reality TV competition, Needles has become the drag queen equivalent of a household name, toured the country, made her stage debut, purchased her own hearse, and cut an album, set to be released in early 2013. If that wasn’t enough, Needles returned to TV in October with FEARce! a weekly horror movie show on Logo.

For all her newfound fame and celebrity appearances, though, it’s the music career that seems to most excite the Pride of Pittsburgh.

“I didn’t just want to do a single, I wanted to have a strong body of work,” she says of the forthcoming record, which is set to be titled PG-13. And once that drops? Needles is planning to take her act overseas before hanging up her broom for a bit. “Just maybe,” she says, “I’ll take a break and spend a little more time with friends and family that are missing the person behind the wig and corset.”

And while not everything about life in the spotlight has agreed with Needles -- “I wouldn’t change anything,” she says of her new life, “though I’ve definitely made my mistakes” -- she’s poised to learn from her blunders and give up her crown once RuPaul anoints a new winner.

“Nothing lasts forever,” says Needles. “Drag Race isn’t just a competition I took part in, it’s also my favorite television show of all time, so I’m looking forward to sitting in my easy chair and watching the tears, the fashion, and the cat fights.”

Lotus is a flop. Why isn't Christina Aguilera selling more albums?

The release of her new album Lotus was supposed to be a glorious victory lap for Christina Aguilera. After the dual duds of 2010′s critical and commercial failures Bionic and Burlesque, the once-platinum-plated pop star set out to reinvent herself: She divorced her husband of five years, became a coach on the hit series The Voice, and recommitted herself to her music.

Only part of that plan seems to be working for her. While her visibility factor is way up thanks to the big ratings for The Voice, it’s still bad news at the cash register. Final numbers won’t be in until next week, but right now, album sales tracking service Hits Daily Double is currently projecting Lotus will sell somewhere between 75 and 80 thousand copies in its opening week.

Rihanna's UK stadium tour expected to sell out quickly

Rihanna's upcoming UK stadium tour is expected to sell out quickly.

The singer announced a handful of stadium dates for 2013 as part of her 'Diamonds' world tour, with tickets due to go on sale from November 20.

However, pre-sale tickets searches have rocketed by 700% on viagogo, meaning demand for the shows is likely to be very high.

"Rihanna's diamonds are shining brighter than ever as she eclipses fellow female stars in the popularity stakes," said Ed Parkinson, viagogo spokesperson.

"With her new album released next week we expect demand to increase even further as fans try to get a ticket to one of the hottest gigs of 2013."

The demand increase is triple that of Madonna and Lady GaGa's respective pre-tour searches, with both artists touring earlier this year.

Moreover, experts predict that tickets for all 21 of Rihanna's European shows could sell out in little under six minutes come November 20.

Rihanna's seventh studio album Unapologetic will be released worldwide on November 19.

Backstreet Boys Get Animated In New Music Video “Its Christmas Time Again”

The Backstreet Boys are getting animated in their new holiday themed music video for their new song, “It’s Christmas Time Again.” The song that was originally the brain child of Nick Carter and Howie Dorough, is the band’s first new recording together released since reuniting with Kevin Richardson recently. Howie and Nick became inspired to get into the holiday spirit after the Boys were asked to participate in Disney’s upcoming Christmas special, scheduled to air on Christmas weekend. The song came together very quickly after Nick and Howie teamed with Mika Guillory and Morgan Taylor Reid to write the music and present it to the rest of the group. The song was met with over whelming response from fans after it was put on sale digitally earlier this month. The guys then performed the song live on national television for the first time on the CBS day time show, The Talk yesterday.

Now today the live performance has been followed by the music video! The guys teamed up with to help premiere this animated clip that looks like it came from the illustrations of your favorite holiday story book!

Selena Gomez spent the last day blocking her phone numbers and other communication devices so Justin Bieber cannot contact her ... TMZ has learned.

Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... Selena wants no contact with Justin, so whatever they tried hashing out during their sit-down last Sunday didn't work. She has blocked her phone (which includes texting). For some reason, she's still following Justin on Twitter, but we're told she's blocked him on all forms of contact.

And ... we've learned ... the breakup absolutely, positively involved another woman -- though our sources didn't know which one. There's been speculation that it's a Victoria's Secret model. We don't know for sure if it's her, but we know it involves another woman.

The actors also discussed how fame changes a person, particularly regarding how people treat you differently. Damon continued to be critical of how the business works:
When we started [writing] Good Will Hunting, I was 22 and Ben [Affleck] was 20, and it came out when I was 27 and Ben was 25. I always had this theory that you kind of retard emotionally at the moment you become famous: It's not that you change; the world changes in its relationship to you. So your entire reality shifts. And that's a jarring experience and hard to prepare for.

It's certainly an interesting theory and would explain the likes of, say, Chris Brown and Britney Spears, who always seem like overgrown high school sophomores. "Retard[ing] emotionally" at 27 isn't the worst thing in the word to happen to you, Matt Damon.

TayTay and Harry Styles Get Together at X Factor Rehearsals

When two pop sensations like Taylor Swift and One Direction's Harry Styles join forces, does the universe implode?

We might find out tonight on The X Factor, because a source close to a contestant tells us that Styles has been spotted hanging out with Swift as she prepares to perform on tonight's live show.

"Harry is there with her now. She is doing rehearsals this afternoon. And he is in her group," the witness tells E! News. "He watched her onstage going through her performance. He was sitting with her mom and the rest of her entourage."

Swift and Styles seem to really be enjoying their time together. "After she finished, he went up to the stage. They were joking and laughing," the sources says. "He picked her up and threw her over his shoulder and carried her off."

Sounds like Harry Styles may have taken over the sweeping-Swift-off-her-feet duty away from Connor Kennedy.

Write-in votes cast for Beyoncé, Clint Eastwood in recent election

“Not Wilson” for U.S. Congressional Second District. “Anybody else” for S.C. House District 81. Cold Creek Nurseries for Aiken County Treasurer. “Them” for School Board District 8.

In an election that was one of the most muddled in recent memory, voters displayed a sense of humor by offering up a slate of write-in candidates of historical figures, pop culture celebrities, fictional characters and John and Jane Does.

Aiken County Registration and Elections officials said it's to be expected that, whenever a ballot allows a voter to provide a write-in candidate, some interesting names appear.

There were plenty of opportunities to write in names this year because there were several locally-contested races involving write-in candidates.

Write-in David Lobb challenged S.C. House District 86 incumbent Bill Taylor; write-in Jim Vause opposed incumbent Sheriff Michael Hunt; write-in Daniel Turno challenged Charles Barton for Aiken County auditor; and there were 11 write-in candidates for treasurer.

“People do it (write in quirky names) just to be silly. If only they understood we had to go through all of these,” said Cynthia Holland, executive director of Aiken County Registration and Elections.

More than 16,000 write-in votes were cast in the treasurer's race alone. Officials hand-counted write-in votes in 38 precincts before an electronic audit machine came online.

There were 402 write-in votes cast in the House 86 race, or 3.5 percent.

There were 2,431 write-ins cast in the Aiken County Sheriff race, or 4.4 percent.

There were 1,639 write-ins cast in the Aiken County auditor's race, or 3.3 percent.

Perhaps the granddaddy of all write-ins was the late Gov. Strom Thurmond when he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1954. He easily won the election as a write-in candidate with 143,444 votes.

Other write-ins in last Tuesday's election included Obama, Clint Eastwood, Mickey Mouse, Me, Alf, Donald Duck, Big Bird, Nobody and Beyoncé. They were noted as “no votes.”

You’ll Never Believe What Ruined Lea Michele’s Spray Tan

We’ve endured our fair share of beauty mishaps, but nothing comes close to what happened to Lea Michele recently.

The Glee star stopped by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday and shared a story about the time a dog peed all over her right after she got a spray tan. Yep — a pup had the nerve to make a wee-wee on Rachel Berry! Here’s what happened:

After a team of people came to her house to apply the tan (we know, we’re jealous of her spray-tan house calls, too) Michele headed to the studio, being careful not to mess up her new glow. But things got a little messy come lunch.

“I put my feet up to take a nice lunch break and one of the managers had their dog,” she explained. “The dog jumped on my lap and I was like, ‘Oh, so cute!’ and he went to pick up the dog and the dog peed all over me!”

Since the tanner was still wet, the urine left a graphic design on Michele’s legs. “I wiped it off, but because I didn’t wipe off the spray tan yet it left pee streaks all over my legs for days — I had zebra-striped pee marks on my legs!” Well, look on the bright side: prints are in this season.

Homes That Even Celebrities Can't Unload

A celebrity name doesn’t instantly mean the home is worth more, explains Los Angeles real estate agent Gary Gold.

“In general, the home is only worth more in that it’s a great way to market a home,” he said. “Celebrities just bring a lot of eyeballs to the property.”

Many of these celebrity homes have bounced on and off the market several times, many of them unable to sell because of the recent real estate slump. But with the market heating up, many of these homes may finally have a renewed chance to snag a buyer.

In this month’s Allure, Keira Knightley explains that she’s “quite rigorous” about which parts of her body she’ll bare onscreen. Specifically: “No bottom half! I don’t mind exposing my tits because they’re so small — people really aren’t that interested!” You’d be surprised, Keira.
The Oscar nominee also laments the dramatic photoshopping her chest is often subjected to on movie posters and in ads: “For King Arthur, for a poster, they gave me these really strange droopy t-ts … I thought, well if you’re going to make me fantasy breasts, at least make perky breasts.”

Of course, Knightley’s cover interview isn’t all about showing skin. The Anna Karenina star also speaks out about the hurtful rumors that she had an eating disorder in 2007 — “I knew I wasn’t anorexic, but maybe my body is somehow not right. Or my face is not right. Or the way I speak is not right. When you’re going through a period where you’re really getting a lot of criticism, you go, Maybe all this is right!” — and her fiancé, Klaxons keyboardist James Righton.

Cesar Millan Reveals Suicide Attempt Following Dog's Death and Divorce

Cesar Millan has a new show and is feeling like a top dog again—but two years ago he had given up on life.

An upcoming Nat Geo Wild documentary reveals that the Dog Whisperer star attempted suicide in 2010 following the death of his beloved pit bull, Daddy, and the breakup of his 16-year marriage.

"It was hard, because I wasn't expecting it," he says of the divorce from wife Ilusion, with whom he has two sons. "I went into a big depression. I lost a lot of weight. And I felt that I lost the most important thing, which was my family."

After surviving an overdose later that year, Millan says in the special, airing Nov. 25, that he eschewed medication and regained control of his life through exercise and work.

He also has a new love in his life, Jahira Dar, and is thinking about proposing—but he has to ask her parents first.

"I know they are going to say yes, but I like the whole Cinderella story," he says.

"I think my life has everything, you know, it has comedy has drama has action," Millan says. "I don't know about the ending yet. I'm just glad I can tell the story. Hopefully people get inspired, they get motivated. It doesn't matter where you come from. Really what I would like for people to get out of this is just to not lose hope, no matter what happens. You should never lose hope."

Next up, Leader of the Pack, which filmed in Spain, premieres on Nat Geo Wild in January.

Frank Ocean Had A 'Peaceful But Active Year'

Frank Ocean isn't a man of many words, unless they come pouring out in song, but that's what we love about him, right? The singer/songwriter hit GQ's Men of the Year party in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, where he managed to sum up his entire year in about seven words while walking the red carpet.

"It's a real peaceful but active year," he told MTV News. "So it's cool. I'm just excited to be here, thanks to GQ magazine."

oh hai, willy cartier!

Peaceful isn't exactly the word we would've used to describe Ocean's year, but he certainly knows better.

The 25-year-old surprised fans this summer when he opened up about his sexuality via Tumblr and then released his debut studio album, Channel Orange, landing at #2 on the charts in his first week and earning much critical acclaim. Since then, he's been busy, spending time in the studio with heavyweights like Jay-Z and Pharrell.

When asked about the overwhelming number of artists who want to work with him these days, he responded, "That's not a problem. It's not, like, a tragedy. It's cool, it's awesome, it just means people f--- with me, and that's cool."

Last month, Ocean posted a stream of random thoughts on his Tumblr page in the form of a letter. In it, he gave fans some insight into what he was thinking during his studio session with Jay and Skateboard P. "I sat in the studio days ago with Jiggaman and Pharrell. Pharrell looks 19. They seemed like old friends," he wrote. "I wonder how many trophies are logged in their mind. I wonder why they still build. I build things for the sport and the therapeutic benefits. For immortality biiiitch."

Britney's creepy "fiancé" is getting sick of her

He won't be a slave for her!

Britney Spears' constant demands that fiance Jason Trawick "check in with her" have him fuming, a source tells Us Weekly.

"The romance is gone," says the insider. Trawick, 40, "puts her on speakerphone so friends can hear her nagging."
(A rep for the X Factor star, 30, denies this, and an insider insists, "That's not Jason's style. They're happy.")

But the source contends there's turbulence ahead: "I'd be shocked if they got married."
Spears, who is a mom to Sean Preston, 7, and Jayden James, 6, (with ex-husband Kevin Federline) got engaged to Trawick in December 2011, but have yet to set a date.

if it's true, then it pretty much confirms this recent blind item

He is her fiancé in name only. He is really her employee. He is paid a very handsome salary to keep her in sight at all times so that there is no chance for slippage (alcohol, dr*gs, unseemly friends). He takes his job seriously, but even he gets frustrated with having to spend so much time with her. He thinks she is incredibly immature, and snickers behind her back about how dumb she is. Neither of them is happy about the arrangement, but for now, it’s necessary.
